Reviews of Chutney Mary
S. A.
Excellent interiors, every detail has been managed carefully giving a very nice ambiance to the restaurant.
Service is good a bit over priced but the taste sure is amongst the few best restaurants in London.
Nice atmosphere welcoming staff and had a nice experience over a nice meal with family
A. M.
Excellent restaurant, service, ambience and food. George was our waiter and he was very pleasant and helpful. It’s our absolute favourite restaurant in London, and hands-down best Indian food I’ve ever tried. The lamb biryani and butter chicken were heavenly, and the venison samosas were out of this world. Always would come to this place when in London and definitely recommend 💯
S. B.
Without question, Chutney Mary create the best Indian cuisine in the UK. Great location with friendly staff. The meal was delicious and well presented. About £170 for a meal for two. Great atmosphere. 5 out of 5!
F.
Beautiful decor, lovely food beautifully presented and great service! Poppodom tray was a pretty, tasty way to start. Only thing that didn't impress were the non alcoholic beverages, hence 4 stars.

We have been here for a family dinner. Service was great. And from every single dishes, you can see, feel and taste how much thoughts chefs have put into each dish. Cozy place. I highly recommend it.
Butter chicken, vegetable biryani and vegetables Sambosa is a must.
J. D.
Very tasty food but it’s geared toward the rich or the company card holder. There are other High end Indian restaurants that are geared toward more of a dinner experience with slightly better costs.

Took the In laws for lunch and were pleasantly surprised to locate this hidden gym in Mayfair, who accommodated us last minute due to another restaurant not having wheelchair access.
The decor was warm and inviting and the staff welcomed us with a smile.
Service was swift and the recommendations were perfect. The crab cakes, goat buriani and fried potatoes were the stand out favourites for me but everything we tried was exceptional.
They even gave my niece a mango lassy to cool her tongue due to a bit of spice in her butter chicken.
Definitely better than benares in my opinion

The best part of my visit—it hasn’t changed! my first visit to London in 2 years and revisiting the restaurant felt like I had never left.
The tokri chaat is still the same delectable mix of veggies and springlings of ‘sev’ long thin strands of gram flour deep fried and pomegranate seeds.
The afghan chicken tikka beats the everyday chicken malai tikka you may be used to.
The lamb kebab—cooked tender so that it melts in your mouth was a welcome addition to the appetizers.
The fish curry felt simple and flavorful while the piece de resistance remained the goat biryani—cooked with the right amount of masala and the tenderness of the goat enough to leave the rice mixture in your mouth a medley of flavors, spices, meat juices and basmati silkiness…
A solid 4.2 stars!

The restaurant has a lovely ambience. Although the dress code is strictly smart casual, I am not sure how enforced it is as I saw a man in shorts and slippers dining two tables away.
The fine dining Indian food cooked here is prepped well and tastes fine. If you are looking for a good food with a refined dining experience, it will not disappoint. As far as looking for Indian cuisine pushed to its highest levels of sublime taste and tantalising the senses, it never reaches those heights so that is why it is just okay for me. Let's just say it is fine dining at its average.
H. D.
Overall Great experience, food was delicious, one of the top Indian restaurant in London, not easy to get in,
H. R.
We love visiting Chutney Mary.. if you are a paneer lover like myself, you have to try their paneer dishes. The food is so well made and presented. A must visit if place for a fine dining Indian restaurant.
D. K.
Phenomenal dining experience. We were gobsmacked by this food. We had the chicken tikka and veg samosas which were both wonderful and then the lamb curry and butter chicken - the pilau rice was notable too, we loved the addition of peas and onions. 5* service, definitely dress up for coming here we did feel slightly underdressed.
H.
Chutney Mary is phenomenal! We had the butter chicken main dish with butter naan and chili cheese naan. For the appetizer, we did the Jaipur lamb and afghani chicken tikka. The lamb and chicken were so tender, with excellent taste profile. Cooked perfectly. The butter chicken was very high quality - it was great, but we could use a bit more flavor. The chili cheese naan was much preferred to the regular butter naan. To finish, we had gold gulab jamun with vanilla ice cream, and it was absolutely perfect (coming from gulab jamun enthusiasts lol). The service and decor are high end and 5 star. Chicken and some lamb dishes are halal, as specifically marked on the menu.
J. D.
Great, beautiful place and delicious food! Amazing selection of wines, will be back for sure
L. W.
Lovely restuarant. Food good a tad pricey. But you know that when you go there. Staff attentive. Decor beautiful
D. K.
Most authentic daal Makhani, Rogan ghost, butter chicken curry.. wonderful atmosphere and spacious hall to enjoy food with larger group..
M. A.
Very well presented, but needs some attention to details and replacing old and worn items. The staff are very friendly from the moment you walk in. The menue has good variety for vegetarian and none vegetarian food. Some items on the menue is Halal ( look for the H letter). Food was great but some dishes were extra spicy. Over all great experiences. With a high price tag the place was packed on a Wednesday.
c. b.
Best Indian food we have ever had and a wonderful evening. Vegetable samosas, artichokes, chicken, lamb, and sea bass were all sublime. The atmosphere was lovely as well, and the restaurant was busy but still relatively quiet. Only shortcoming was our waiter, who had zero people skills. He addressed only my husband for most of the evening, explained all of the dishes to my husband in advance of our ordering, and asked my husband how everything tasted. Little eye contact with anyone else at the table. No smile or engagement, except when speaking to my husband.
S. N.
Wow, wow and wow. What an evening of decadent food beautifully matched with a surprising Indian Red Wine. Attentive service and great atmosphere..
H. R.
Could not recommend this place more! From the second we walked in, the staff were so accommodating and welcoming. When I asked for certain cocktail (Which wasn't on there menu) they made it anyway with their compliments and it was not an issue. The seats were comfortable and the price was fair, according to central London location and quality of the food, which was outstanding!
U. P.
I have seen many people post how good the food is at this restaurant question why does this restaurant not get a Michelin star
I agree with them the the quality of the food
but I can tell you that one of the reasons that this place is not getting a star is because the quality of service is no near what a Michelin star restaurants should have
I asked for a bespoke cocktail and guess what the bar manager comes up to me and starts to preach me and tells me that they cannot serve me bespoke drinks because it will delay the service for other customers
when I say I’m OK with just a glass of water he agrees to make something. While changing plates in cutlery they forget to provide us with spoons which are basics for eating Indian food
I will recommend this for people looking for good food but for the price point and the service you get here, you may have some other restaurants in the city that would be a better option
T. T.
It is a good but over rated place. Mainly used by tourist and local Europeans. The origin of the restaurant is very interesting for it was set up as replica of the famous Indian place chosen by the British when in India. Food is of variety but is not good value for money. I have tasted and tried many that would superceed Chutney Mary.
Yet for an Indian experience it is good to visit. Staff is very helpful and dressed immaculately.
J. S.
Love this place, assorted papadum are a must. Versatile dishes. Great place for lunch and dinner, but booking is highly advised. Had a small incident today with boneless chicken, bit stuff was super supportive and it didn't affect our experience
D. L.
Lovely brunch menu that for the quality of the food was reasonably priced. For a small menu there was lots of choice and varied options with 3/4 vegetarian starters and mains. I had the non-vegetarian crescent which was excellent and would recommend
M. S.
I have come twice for private dining for family celebrations. It’s always been incredible. Food is one of the best for Indian food in London. And the service is incredible. I would recommend this private dining set up if you coming with very young children. We were served by the GMs son, for someone who is very young gave outstanding service.
Overall it’s not baby friendly within the main restaurant no changing facilities and high chair etc.
A.
Great experience, amazing place, friendly staff, special dishes. Cons: better to book online so you don’t wait for 35minutes, especially at night and weekends. High End Indian cuisine.
R. C.
Amazing food, best Indian food I've ever had. We went to dinner here for Christmas day,, and had a great time. All of the dishes we had were perfect, except for my duck which was a tad bit overcooked. Everything else was amazing and the service was very good. Would definitely come back.
R. P.
My most favourite dining spot in London -so a glowing review is well overdue. Beautiful place, fantastic service. Friendly staff and most importantly 5* food. Love it everytime never disappointed. Cannot wait to return again soon. Always our choice for a special occasion or to just spoil ourselves.
S. B.
Chutney Mary is a dining experience in the truest sense of the word. From the carefully thought out cocktails, food that sings out in affirmation of the world class training of the chefs to the beautiful ambience, it is something not to be missed. A special place, will surely return!
P. R.
Fantastic Indian food and my favourite Indian restaurant. Beautifully decorated rooms with good bar and the excellent dishes include the chicken thighs, Golden Fried Prawns, Butter Chicken Curry, Hyderabadi Lamb Shank and kebab platter.
Good set lunch menu and quieter than in the evening so good for a business lunch. It is pricey but the quality and presentation is outstanding.
V. T.
As a discerning Indian foodie, I can confirm the taste and flavour of each of the 8 dishes we ordered to be sublime, distinctive and utterly sumptuous. Five stars for the food and the drinks.
M. S.
I am an European, open to explore different cultures. I tried Indian food in few places but this is the best I've ever had so far. Delicious food, very well presented plates and excellent customers service.
Great ambiance and very cosy place.
I would also mention that the setting in the ladies wash room it's really nice too.
will definitely be back ❤
YES! It's a 10 out of 10 👏🏼
H. G.
Delicious food although slightly pretentious (very small portions) and over priced, excellent service though!
M. M.
Likely the most posh Indian restaurant you'll ever set foot in. Very nicely done interior from bar to bathroom, and dining area. Lots of spaces for groups that offer a bit of privacy. Food was very tasty though portions can be a bit on the smaller side. We did find the staff to be a bit unresponsive as the restaurant became busier. Recommended.
A. A.
Medium experience at this plush restaurant. The best was the level of service by staff and the desserts.
The worst was the miniscule portions for a thali. Taste was ok but nothing extraordinary that is expected from fine dining. They could check how Veerasamy or Darjeeling do it. Sorry only 3 stars. Perhaps we should try their cocktail bar next time.
A. D.
Have been here a couple of times. Serves delicious Indian food. So much so that you can spot members of the royal family of Middle East dining here.
Standout dish for me is the Gajjar ka halwa soufflé. Last time I was there the waiting staff told us that it is a seasonal item. But after requesting someone else from the waiting staff, it was prepared and it was perfection. Please don’t make this seasonal, it is definitely your USP.
A. D.
The bar and lounge area is really good and creates a welcoming atmosphere. I loved the snacks tray which one can enjoy with drinks. The food is authentic and tasty great. It is perhaps the best Indian food I have had outside of India. Everything is up to speck and the staff is wonderful. The only reason I have not given a 5 star is that in the basement room where we had the private dinner, there was a bit of a leak in the roof and it was dripping, however they sorted it out after a while, which was a bit dampening experience. Otherwise the decor and everything else was just amazing.
I. K.
Perfect. A memorable meal, every course was perfect.
N. Y.
Fantastic food & service. A little bit over priced but the food was worth it. I had Afghani Chicken Tikka as one of my starters, which wasn't that great, but the lamb dishes and the some veg starters did the job well. We loved the paneer as the starter, it was spot on! Overall we had a good experience.
S. S.
The food here is amazing, every dish is perfection. The cocktails are also delicious whilst the whole place feels very relaxed and comfortable whilst still maintaining that feeling that your somewhere special. Will definitely be coming back to explore the menu further.
A. C.
We had a very enjoyable meal. At the time we went, we had the brunch menu which was very good, particularly the Bengal curry. The staff were great too. Would recommend a visit!
A.
Delicious. Everything was seriously good, though maybe a few dishes being little bit too rich. Sea bass is highly recommended. Adding a knob of butter to melt on the Dahl when served seemed a little unnecessary, especially as it cooled the butter gave it a fatty texture.
Only disappointment was the drinks service. Every order of drinks had to be chased by a number of waiters, which seemed strange as they were so attentive and came to check whether the meal was ok on numerous occasions. They were very polite and compensated a cocktail as it was ordered before main and presented at dessert (after asking 4 times for it).
A. P.
Amazing food, stellar service.
J. S.
This spot is famous amongst our friend group, and is one of the best tasting indian food without excessive oil that I have ever encountered.
The food is delicious and well presented, and we highly recommend the vegetable samosas as they are to die for. Finish it all up with one of their signature biryanis and butter chicken, and you will be lying back on your seat with a smile on your face.
I've come here several times, only now have I decided to give it the review that it deserves, and I will be sleeping like a baby tonight.
a. a.
This was my first visit and I was pleasantly surprised.
What I liked most was that the food is served in appropriate portions and their is no waste. The dishes are mild and not very spicy.thanks to chef Moti for making us lovely prawn pakkora.
I recommend the visit specially that the service is very good.
S. I.
Great restaurant with a high standard of service. Some may complain about the portion size but dining at this place will not leave you unsatisfied as fine dinning at this place is all about the complex flavours that is to be experienced to really appreciate a true taste of Indian food. Look forward to returning.
S. H.
Fine dining in the heart of London.
A stone throw away from the Ritz and Buckingham palace hence the eye watering prices.
Delicious cuisine great service and beautiful ambience.
Great for a special occasion or a celebration.
D. H.
Incredibly delicious food, stunning dark wood décor and candles, great service and overall an amazing Indian dining experience.
C. d. S.
Attentive service, relaxed luxury ambiance, excellent food. Crab cake starters are the best in London by far but not available on Sundays for some reason. Delicious Dover Sole with spices.
F. F.
Absolutely exquisit, contemporary Indian food , a bit extra special
Really friendly service as you expect
Fancy cocktails, lots of flowers on top, great glasses
Reasonably priced for what it is, 25£ for the average dish, the bill will lump to quite a fun though
J. H.
Very good. Excellent food, great presentation and generally very well put together experience and location. Service not perfect hence the four stars.
W. P.
Came here on recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. Probably the best Indian I've ever had.
We took the tasting menu as we couldn't make a decision and it was definitely the right way to go. Crab cake, venison samosa, two curries and saag, and some ice cream at the end. It was not like any Indian cuisine I'd ever had before and I think that's what made it so special.
R. C.
Outstanding food and perfect service. One of the best meals I can remember.
K. K.
Lovely set menus. Their Kulfis has a unique nutty taste - must try. Their chocolate bomb is popular too
T. H.
Elegant , sophisticated Indian cuisine.
Such high quality and standards.
Strongly recommend.
Flavours weren amazing.
Meat succulent. Ambiance amazing
R. A.
Went here recently on a night out with the Mrs. It's a beautiful establishment, with friendly staff. Food was excellent and we were both very pleased with the same.
It is a little on the pricy side... between the two of us the bill came to £120 plus... Even though we don't drink! However, you do expect that from the name and the location. Plus the food was good the ambiance was lovely the decor was perfect so we were definitely happy customers and we will definitely be back.
J. H.
We had the lamb curry. Was really tasty. Sides were absolutely tiny but tasty. Service was patchy. A lot of confusion and wrong drinks. I had to send mine back three times I think due to language issues.
T. K.
Amazing restaurant. We have been here multiple times and tend to come for special occasions.
It is always great service, atmosphere and food!
K. B.
Great ambience and service. The food was delicious. I would recommend first and foremost the lamb chops, biryani and vegetable samosas. The Afghani chicken tikka is less spicy than most dishes and is good with butter naan. Spinach sag paneer is spicy but makes a good side dish. The whole tandoor lobster and tandoor sea bass sound good and I will definitely have those the next time I visit!
P. D.
Everything was excellent - food, ambience, service. We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday and had a wonderful experience. Will definitely be visiting again.
J. B.
There is eating food, then there is the dining experiance at the Chutney Mary. Presentation and taste were exquisite.
The staff were professional, friendly and paid attention to the most minute of details but in a manner that didn't seem interfering.
The interior decor is rich, warm, opulent and full of history.
This is not your traditional curry house but instead they take the traditional cooking and give it a pleasant, modern twist. Chilli lobster was fantastic and a special hats off to the Gaggar halwa soufflé - I don't know this dish could even be served like this.
A.
The service was amazingly good. Good ambiance as well. Food is good not amazing. The Tarka Dal and desserts were the best things we ordered.
A. N.
The ambience is very nice however the food didn't quite live up to expectations. Starters were good but main dishes were nothing special. Service could also be improved.
G. P.
My favourite restaurant. Best fine dining Indian restaurant by far. Proper flavour, not trying too differentiate by doing weird recipes.
J. H.
Wow one of the best Indian food, great service and it is a little bit overpriced but worth the experience.
G. G.
One of the most overrated curry shop/Indian restaurants in London. The service is poor. The waiter does not know how to pour water. While he pours water to glasses, he spills it all over the place and the water that go down the bottle end up in the glass. The plates and serviettes/napkins were dirty. The food is average. The naan is so small and cut into pieces. The rice is ok. I wouldn’t spend a fortune here. Instead go to the real curry shops around Liverpool street. We paid 76 pounds for nothing. It’s way overrated!
S. S.
Fab decor, very classy and food was just out of this world.
R. W.
Love love love this place. The food is just amazing. Great service, buzzy atmosphere, looks lovely inside, cocktails are fab!
J. K.
Beautiful food, beautiful place and wonderful table service. I ordered the vegetarian silver crescent which gives you a variety of small dishes to try. Everything is banging with flavour... I really recommend the sweetcorn ribs with the divine chutney it is served with.
L. 6.
We enjoy one of the best experience Indian lunch food we have it in london , the food was tasty and provided in an elegant way , the ambience was nice and the staff found friendly and expert in dealing with the customers
H. P.
Extremely good restaurant. Excellent waiter service. Upon arrival they great you with amazing respect.
G. Z.
Excellent butter chicken. My husband had the prawn biryani which he thought was ok but not excellent. Their cocktails were also excellent. Good service and lovely ambience.
N. M.
One of the most classy and delicious Indian restaurants - great drinks, great service and really delicious food. Will definitely be back!
G. M.
Fresh, interesting, authentic Indian food. Fine dining with exciting food in great setting. Loved the Butter Chicken.
R. V.
Fantastic food and service in a space with beautiful decor. I've never eaten a better Indian meal.
M. T.
Just moved to number 1 favourite Indian cuisine. I prefer the new location. Very romantic atmosphere
Y. B.
One of the best Indian restaurant, if not the best ever. The manager have allowed us to have main menu even though the kitchen is closed at the arrival time.
The food is 100% delicious and a must visit place.
A. A.
Excellent food and excellent service. The atmosphere is buzzy and the decor is great, really enjoyed it and would love to go back.
Easily one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to in London, well worth the price tag. The wine list is also quite extensive.
S. K.
Great Indian food, convenient location, nice service. Fully recommended
J. S. S.
Damn, what a place. Combination of the Victorian Ambience and the beloved Indian food. We began with a bottle of wine - Chakalaka Spicy Red 2016 and ordered golden fried prawns, papad basket, and afghani chicken tikka on the sides. And I loved the their take on the samosas with chatpata corn stuffed inside a thin cone.
Main Course - Fish curry, lamb curry, sea bass, butter chicken. Blown away by the fish curry. The other stuff was very close to the Indian style of cooking, especially the way chicken os prepared in Delhi or Punjab. So, for me those were normal. But nonetheless, my colleagues from the UK and US loved them. From what I hear and saw myself, the place is heavily booked and you plan to make reservations before coming here. This chain has another restaurant called Veeraswamy. Haven't neen there, but will post if I get a chance to visit the place.
V. D.
The food was really good. Gosht korma was done "to perfection", silky soft with a little pleasant cartilage, but still keeping the form and texture. Nice, not overpowering sauce. Excellent vegetables with cardamon.
I came without a reservation and was offered a seat in the lounge / bar area (station 50). Immediately it was very uncomfortable. The rounded low chairs there have no right to exist. One can only be comfortable in them leaning forward, as if about to get up and leave. If you try to relax and lean back - you either slide into a low-class reclining, or find yourself holding your back in the air. The pillows do not help. This bugged me through the whole visit and alone worth two stars off of the experience rating.
The service was... ok... The order was taken fast, but there was no interest in how I am doing and I waited both after the main course and to check out. Actually, I had to frantically gesture a couple times before the waiter noticed the motions. Either overloaded or not interested in a small order, they clearly miss the service points. I guess it does not occur to them that alone visitors do not have a party to talk to. The options are to turn to a phone - and so to interrupt the experience, or to be present and wait. Wait.
D. G.
Best Indian food I had in London! Superp, with friendly staff!! A must visit!
M. B.
Lovely lunch. Great service. Will go again. Would recommend
G. E.
Beat Indian restaurant I've been to in a long time. Delicious food and good cocktails, a nice ambience and good service which isn't overly fussy. Would highly recommend the mixed grill of various meets and lobster, which was insanely good
K.
This upscale Indian in Mayair has a rather formal setting and serves up mouthwatering plates of food – dishes like the deconstructed boneless chicken wings and the flaked cornish crab in garlic butter made me wince with delight. We went for a mid week dinner for my sister's birthday and it was moderately busy. Vibe wise, It's a fairly older refined crowd and attracts people that work in the area - in fact - we passed a dude who was working on his laptop which was tragic but I guess it's better than dinner at your desk!
A. J.
Everything was perfectly seasoned. Food was great, good ambience and a business lunch menu. Great for business meetings during the day, romantic encounters in the evening or large group bookings in the function room. I highly recommend the venison samosa.
A. E. K.
Beautiful restaurant and lovely food. Hubby and I went for our 3rd wedding anniversary and it was perfect.
G.
Delicious & creative meal. The service and atmosphere were terrific.
a. b.
We had a private dining room booked for my son's birthday. The food was delicious. The staff went above and beyond to cater for our needs. On the day of the event they managed to add a menu for a gluten free vegetarian without hassle.
We've come back many times, the service is always wonderful and attentive
S. P.
One of the true fine dining Indian restaurants in London. There are lots of newcomers, but they are pale imitations of Chutney Mary.
D. N.
You get what you pay for and this certainly applies to Chutney Mary. The service here is really very good, as is the quality of the food and cocktails. The varied selection of food and drink is a step above your usual Indian fare. My boss took us here to celebrate and we had a wonderful meal. Would definitely go again as a treat!
P. B.
Great food and ambience. Service was fantastic.
M. L.
It's a large and busy restaurant. The food was excellent but lack of personality when it comes to the service area.
P. S.
Excellent dining experience. The tasting menu was perfect in flavor and portion size. The wine pairings were well balanced for the level of spice in the food. The braised venison samosas (pictured) are magnificent!
S. P.
Beautiful place. The food is hit or miss. Amazing meat (perfectly cooked, so soft and tender, melts like butter and is full of flavour) though some other dishes like the curries were way below par (totally lacking of flavour). In addition, veg options very limited. Cocktails were average. Service was average, some staff were great, others a bit 'off', almost rude. All in all, I wouldn't return, there is the same if not better food at plenty of places elsewhere.
A. A.
Mouthwatering dishes! Very memorable modern Indian food experience. Butter chicken & rogan josh are to die for. Sweets were amazing. We really enjoyed our time.
S. A.
Very very tasty.. Bravo ♥️
R. T.
THE best Indian restaurant in all of London! The drinks, the starters, the mains all are suberb and most importantly very consistent on taste, quality, service and atmosphere! They have mastered the art of Indian cuisine!!
L. A.
Really great restaurant where the staff are amazing and the food is even better.
B. D. B.
The food was excellent, the restaurant is is really cosy and the service is perfect. Props to the bartender as well.

Food was average compared to price, i had high expectations before trying the restaurant
O. O.
Excellent Indian restaurant, excellent food, good suggestion from staff and absolutely amazing ambiance.
R. H.
Very good place to spend an evening with the family, really liked it! The staff is friendly!

5 stars on Dining Experience
5 stars on Food Quality and taste
5 stars on the friendly service
This beautiful place ticks all the boxes of a modern Indian restaurant. It's not a curry house so expect to pay a little for smaller portions but no denying the food is delicious..!!
J. M.
Just up the road from Buckingham Palace.
Wondered in on Saturday, google stated it closed at 2.45pm however we arrived at 2.15 and were still enjoying our lunch at 3.30 without being rushed out.
Contemporary, not salty, not chewy, just the right amount of spice. The best Indian we have ever had and we have had a few!
A. A.
Upscale Indian Resturant, need reservation in advance, welcoming waiters with good services, tasty food.
M. J.
I thought this was a good quality restaurant.
I eat a lot of south Asian food. My mother quisine.
Some of the dishes had a twist to what I'm used to. Not everything was to my taste e.g. paneer starter, but generally food was good. Service near faultless. Decor and ambiance lovely.
One of my friends thought it was "the best restaurant food ever". Others not quite so jubilant.
V nice evening thought when we went on a friday night it was quiet (June 2021- covid). Nice relaxed pace. Dining g room was a little noisy..bar q quiet.
I'd go again.
C. N.
Hugely expensive for a posh curry. Still, very nice and the service was great.
K.
One of the Best Dining Experiences we ever Had
R. M.
This restaurant is really amazing!
R. K.
Stunning restaurant, service is sublime bettered only by the food!
An experience to be had!
A.
Amazing food, excellent service and great ambience
E. B.
Not cheap, but absolutely the best curry I have ever tasted. Every dish my friend and I ordered was well presented and delicious. The meat was soft and tender, the sauces full of flavour and just the right level of spice \ heat. Elegant decor and attentive service. I can't fault it.

Amazing food, decor ,ambience and service . My favourite Indian restaurant. Had the tasting menu with wine which I thought was excellent value .

Probably the best Indian food I've eaten in the nicest place. I had the business lunch which was £29/33 for 2 or 3 courses. The choice wasn't big but the food was great . A different level to most other Indian Restaurants. With a drink and service my bill was £48. A la carte a fair bit more. Considering the location, and that everything from the minute you walk in the door was of the highest quality, it's a reasonable price to pay. Worth saving up for.

What an amazing restaurant. The service was absolutely perfect, a smile on every members face and a welcoming atmosphere all round. The food was just incredible, some of the best Indian food I have ever tasted and the people I dined with agreed. No it's not the cheapest place to eat but they don't claim to be, this is a high end restaurant in an expensive area of the city so the price is relative. 10/10

Portion sizes were disappointingly small but surprisingly spicy. Nice restaurant but service was slow.

We went up for the "early bird" menu of £35.00 for 2 courses. We didn't realise you had to pick from a set menu which was incredibly limited. We shared one "deal" menu and one main course from the table d'hote menu. The Biryani was absolutely.delicious and quite enough for 2 .
Don't expect a " deal" . There really isn't one. You will have to pay extra for rice or Naan. The wine was delicious too . Go for a bottle rather than a glass!
Would I go again?? It would have to be for a very very special occasion.

Chutney Mary takes topmost place in my list as best Indian fine dine restaurant in London. The food was really delicious and aromatic. Many of the dishes had fine notes of aromatic ingredients and had delicate flavours e.g Pepper Chicken and air fried kale with drizzle of sesame seeds and honey. The food is magical and served very well. I wonder the skills the chef has to prepare and serve such impeccable dishes. I would really love to learn how to cook these and if I had to do something more in my career then it would be the art of cuisine. Chutney Mary is such an inspiration.
The staff were very courteous as well and service was fantastic.
Thankyou so much to the chef, staff of Chutney Mary to make our day so much special. Will visit again, defo!

One of the best Indian restaurants in London.

One of the best indian places in London. Amazing food.

This is a must try venue. It's not what you would expect from an Indian restaurant because every dish is elevated to beyond expectation in terms of flavour and overall presentation. Indian wines compliment the menu with a cocktail list which is nothing less than impressive. Added to this is the most exquisite interior with tastefully placed artwork and feature areas. Simply a beautiful culinary experience with a great atmosphere.

Fantastic food if not a little over priced
J. F.
Beautiful venue with a bar lounge area and dining room in the back. Cocktails are decent and the food is really good. There is a wide range of Indian delicacies from classics to more modern twists. The butter chicken and the mixed grilled platter are particularly good! You may want to book in advance to avoid any disappointment.

Best meal I’ve ever had. The service was impeccable, the ambience was great, the food was phenomenal, even the cocktails were amazing. Jumbo prawns are a must, but all of it was great food. We had about 5 different items and two desserts, and all of it was phenomenal. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was soooo good. This may be my new favorite restaurant in the world. It’s expensive though. Be prepared to spend some money for this experience and making is a reservation is required I believe. They take a credit card for reservation, but don’t worry, that’s normal and worked out. Enjoy!

As with everything in Central London the prices are steep. That said the food was lovely, the paneer starter we had was melt in your mouth delicious. Great ambience and very much a place for a special occasion.

It’s one of the best restaurants I had tried so far

Fantastic food and service. Enjoyed a great meal with family, celebrating our anniversary. Highly recommended.

Gluten free options 👌🏻 the food was delicious but it was overpriced..

Probably my favourite indian meal of all time in such a beautiful setting! How I wish we had this place in Manchester! Excellent service and very attentive staff. The Pukka Bar also serves fantastic cocktails. 10/10 from me! I will most definitely be returning on another weekend trip!

Good atmosphere and the food is exceptional.

High quality place, love their food and the way they serve it. Nice and clean 👌🏼

Superb location and beautiful inside. Some of the nicest and most helpful staff I've ever encountered.
Food is pricey, but very tasty and surprisingly filling.
Good range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks plus a varied menu.
I enjoyed my meal and people either side of me were commenting on how good their meals were.

Beautiful Restaurant! The food was delicious and the service flawless. They added a very sweet touch of Happy Mothers Day chocolates for my 92 year old Nan which was a total surprise and the Cherry on top. 10/10 Recommend to all.

Tasty food
Beautiful cocktails and definitely try English rose and lychee

One of the best curry restaurants in London. Very comfortable surroundings and a menu set for all levels of Indian cuisine. A bucket list visit is a must for all who like to eat and relax in a high end restaurant. Friendly and very welcoming, I had a lovely time there to celebrate my birthday. Thank you Chutney Mary. See u again very soon.

Very nice for large Christmas party. Food is really good

The place is great. The service is excellent and the restaurant is beautiful. We had several types of curry and all were good. The butter chicken wasn't the best I had in my life but not bad. A little bit on the pricey side.
S. S.
Superb food and the private room is stunning
W.
Stunning restaurant. My company took me there for my birthday lunch and we all liked the food. Each dish was fresh and flavorful. Portions are very small so it is challenging to eat family style like we do at other Indian restaurants.
K. P.
Love the food, love their cocktails!

Lovely passion fruit sour cocktail followed by scallop starter and Goa chicken green curry.

We had a great time last night celebrating our anniversary. We were very impressed with the Service and quality of food. They certainly exceeded on all departments and went out of there way to ensure we had a very good evening. They had good choice for vegetarians also as we were. The Papad Basket is on the BAr menu but if you request they can also give this at the Dinner area. Thanks a lot for a lovely evening.
G. T.
Beautiful restaurant with a lovely ambience.
Service was attentive and corteous.
Cocktails are amazing
Food was nicely presented although I found the dishes too spicy, I could hardly get a taste of what I was eating, my mouth was on fire and all I could taste was chili.
I was told chutney Mary cannot accomodate requests for non spicy food and I believe this should be mentioned on their website.
F. M. -.
Excellent experience! I had our work Christmas lunch in a private dining room, the service was great, food was delicious and they did a great job of catering for my special dietary requirements. Overall a fantastic experience. My only wish is that the private dining room was not in a basement, it would have been nice to be in a room with Windows.

Customer services wasn’t good compère to Veeraswamy.. food was good..

Went to this wonderful place for my wife's birthday. Excellent ambience, fab customer service and also excellent service on the day. The food was tasty, sumptuous and a beautiful twist to the usual Indian staple and street foods. Food isn't cheap but then that's well advertised. Great location. Highly recommended. Credit cards accepted including Amex.

An elegant Indian restaurant, with very nice great gatsby-Esque music playing. Decor is superb, including toilets.
For a pricy menu, I would not say we got our money’s worth in terms of tastiness.
The butter chicken costs £25 but wasn’t very impressive at all. I’ve gone to mid-level restaurants where mains cost £15 and they’ve blown my mind.
Portions are extremely small - again for the price you pay, very underwhelming.
Customer service wasn’t very ideal either. You’d think for how much you pay for the experience, and the level they are rated as a dining experience, someone would keep your glass filled, or the waiter would ask if you’d like more etc. But instead I had to chase 2 different waiters to get my glass topped up. They seemed to have forgotten about me. (Strange that they didn’t forget the couple next door, and poured for them etc).
Overall, overpriced and underwhelmed. But if you are the type to not care about tastiness, and just want a good atmosphere. - go here.

We had lunch at Chutney Mary and really enjoyed the elegant setting. The chaat was surprisingly good (not the best I have ever had, but much better than we expected it to be)! We also really enjoyed a chicken dish and a shrimp dish. Service was excellent. Don’t forget to check out the loo while you are there!

Good food, overprice for potion size
J. V.
Amazing Indian food (coming from an Indian). I would this restaurant as one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to! The use quality ingredients and the flavour of the lamb curry, biryani and the vegetarian dishes was well above my expectations.
The icing on top was how they chef catered for one of persons dietary requirements. The requirement was no oil to be used (quite difficult considering it's an Indian restaurant) but they delivered. Compliments to the chef and all service members.

This restaurant is one of the best in London. Very posh and romantic settings.
The service is exquisite and the staff very charming. The menu is very unusual but the tastes are still very original and authentic. Our lamb shanks and prawn curry were fantastic. Try the very well made cocktails.
M. L.
Went here for new years day, the food was lovely but there was one staff member who was extremely rude to me on two occasions when i asked for the drinks menu and informing them of my allergies.
I was horrified of the waiters comments. However there was one waiter called Shiva who left early and gave us wonderful and personable service. If we had him throughout the night would of been lovely but the other waiter ruin the whole dinner experience for me.

I am so out of my element to write this review. After the theater let out we ran as fast as we could to get here in time to eat. Afzal was our server. He put us right at ease and let us relax into our dinning experience. Not sure even what to order we let our server be our guide. We started with the fried squid and shrimp. Both amazing. We did the lamb chops, green curry chicken and garlic naan for our entrees. Finished off our dinner with the lime tart. Our tastebuds have been on an amazing journey. This dinner gets an overall wow. I can't put in words what I'm feeling now. Beautiful food, amazing atmosphere and spot on service. One can not ask for more.

Absolute favourite for Indian fine dining with a twist. Luxurious, rich decor and smashing choice of cocktails. Tasting menus are beautifully arranged. A bit pricey but worth every penny.
C. B. P.
The restaurant is very beautiful as are the Samosas! One of my dishes was a bit too spicy and had to be changed but overall the food was very tasty. I would have given it a 5 star if the first table we were allocated was a bit better. We came for a good dinner, to have a good time and did not appreciate to be put on a a busy corner (were staff were running along to serve other customers). When asked to have another table the lady did not seem to understand our request. Fortunately, the manager sorted is out properly. It is a very good place for an early dinner.
A. A. O.
This place deserves the 5 Star. From welcoming person front the door, receptionist staff, service Staff, atmosphere and decoration. The best Indian cuisine ever tasted in London. Starter was Veggie Samosa with fried prawns. Presentation, Ingredients and taste was top at all.
Main course was prawn Beryani & Butter Chicken. I'll say it's the best Beryani in London BUT the spices was little bit high medium. Unfortunately, the waiter didn't highlight that and he didn't ask about our level.
Butter chicken was good with butter Nan.
The prices is high also because this place categorized as 5-star restaurant & it's.
L. M.
Best Indian I have ever had. Randomly came across it after being in the park and after eating I can't believe we were able to get a table without a reservation. I felt deliriously happy from the quality of the food and flavours. I enjoy this place way more than the 3 star Michelin I went to a week ago.
M. W.
Posh Indian restaurant with unique Indian cuisine experience. It is rather gourmet and small portions but very tasty , spiced well. We have had several appetizers to share & and good korma and curries with different meat and veggie ingredients , masala tea worth dying for. All in a very nice interior and excellent impeccable service . I would definitely come back again

Average food taste..earlier avtaar in Kings road was better.

First time have visited the St James location. Was my favourite restaurant when Chelsea. Absolutely loved it. Crab cake may possibly be my best starter ever!

Outstanding food and service.

Excellent food and great hospitality. Cocktails are a must here and also desserts if you have a sweet tooth 😋

Simply the best Indian food I have ever tasted. Great ambience as well.

Absolutely fantastic meal or here with friends. The perfect place for a wonderful meal, whilst busy you feel as though you are the only ones there. Great service and the good is the second best Indian dinner I've ever had.
And the lobster looks out of this world.

The decor is amazing and so is the food. However it'd be hard for me to give it a 4 or even a 5 star. We ordered the a la carte menu (which we maybe should've went for the tasting one) and all the food used the same sauces which had a lack of diversity in taste, quite unexpected for an Indian restaurant. I was never one to pay attention or complain about service, but for the price you're [gonna be] paying, you'd expect the staff to know what to recommend / respond, but they didn’t (our waiter looked really lost, and called his supervisor). It just brought down the "luxury-ness" of the place ... wouldn't say the staff were disappointing but it definitely affected the experience there !
G. R.
This is a great restaurant with beautiful candles lit in the evening and the food was lovely. Decor was fabulous. The Goan chicken curry was the best thing we ate.
However it is very pricey for example with the sheekh kebab you only get one per plate and the price is £15. I don’t think I’ve seen this in any other high end restaurant and I was shocked. Our waiter also knew this was for sharing and didn’t alert us to the fact that there was only one piece per plate.
Service was acceptable but when asking our waiter for further explanations he just repeated his original explanation so we didn’t really fully understand what he meant.
We didn’t think it was worth paying the discretionary service charge for. After we asked for this to be taken off the bill they made a huge fuss and made us feel very uncomfortable about it.
We didn’t finish our food so had some to take away. The staff left the food at reception for us but didn’t hand it to us on our way out which means we forgot to pick it up. Expected better service from the restaurant given the prices you are paying.

Awesome food, great ambience

We had tried out one of the nearby restaurants for dinner and not being impressed, turned to our favourite Indian in the city and walked in without a reservation. It turned out to be a great meal once again! :) Just love Chutney Mary - food, drinks, the service and the ambience :)
A. A.
The Mango Mouhito is amazing, the Biyriani is the best in London and the service is VVIP

Great food and ambience. Staff attentive and curteous

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Chutney Mary
We were last here on the night of my son's graduation a few years ago and we had a wonderful meal then. We returned with a recollection of good food and fairly high expectations.
You and your team managed to meet and exceed those expectations: once again the food was excellent - we enjoyed it all, but what topped everything off, was the immaculate service which struck exactly the right balance: helpful and pleasant without being intrusive. We were really pleased with our choice and plan to be back soon.
Please continue what you're doing! You've crafted a great dining experience.

We arrived at a busy time without a reservation and with limited time. The friendly staff found us a bar table but happily and efficiently served us from the main menu. Delicious food. Can't wait to go back!

The best Indian restaurant in london
J. B.
Great food and atmosphere. Would easily recommend the restaurant to be amongst the top Indian restaurants in London. The food is traditional Indian with great flavours. Atmosphere very relaxed, smart yet casual. Very good for a social night out!
A. C.
One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to! The staff was extremely friendly, the ambiance was relaxed and upscale and the food was delicious. We did our research before visiting London and made reservations here beforehand.
G. F.
It is an amazing Indian restaurant I used to go there when it was in Chelsea and easy to park. The food is sublime and I defy anyone to find anything more perfect. It is expensive but I would rather go out less and have the occasional trip here. Just behind St James's Palace. The service is exemplary.
V. P.
The food was very tasty. Could one ever sensibly justify a price tag of £10 for a soft drink and £30+ for a main dish? Probably not. If price is not an issue, I'd highly recommend this restaurant for quality and taste.
J. A.
Perhaps the most amazing Indian meal of my life!
Not traditional and a bit posh compared to my usual outings but every bite was a taste sensation.
Wonderful place for treating someone special (even if it's yourself) to a memorable meal.
K. B.
I don't normally like Indian food. But this is excellent. There is such a variety of food and one will discover different dishes that they had no idea about. The service is excellent and the staff are always friendly and can recommend whats best. The decor is very good. Highly recommend it.
