Reviews of Davy's Wine Vaults - Greenwich
S. V.
Fantastic evening.... Great rustic place, cosy area for a romantic dinner or larger tables for bigger groups.... Staff were really friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, not over the top. I had the aubergine linguine 😋👌🏼 was amazing, my partner had the steak, also gave it a thumbs up. Wine choice is obviously an extensive selection, we went for the Mount Brown Sauvignon Blanc.... Definitely order again!! Amazing outdoor area, dog friendly!
A. P.
Lovely staff (especially Suzie, Ollie, Eileen!), lovely atmosphere, feels spacious. We had a celebration dinner at Davy's last week and it was perfect. The staff added special touches to the table, the service was great and the food was spot on (3 courses each as well as meals for the kids).
V. V.
It’s a nice place with lovely interior, however, the food was really disappointing. Shepherds pie was poor on meat and veggie pasta was very oily, both quite pricey though. Also I would recommend turning some music on to set the mood, it was quite weird to sit in silence
A. W.
Lovely Sunday roast.
Further, the decor was lovely and the wine selection great.
J. N.
Fantastic food, I had fish and chip, wife had chicken schnitzel, a loverly white wine Burgundy, which was recommended by our waiter George. From the moment you walk in you feel relax..the staff service is A1.
R. F.
A very nice surprise. Peaceful atmosphere, very very nice staff, a great selection of wine and the food is good! Away from the busy and crowded touristic side of Greenwich. We loved it.
F. L.
Excellent wine bar in Greenwich - a long-standing institution. They've set up a lovely outdoor area in the back that is very COVID safe, with spacious seating and plenty of room. Great wine selection, of course, for any budget. Food is very nice to boot! All in all a lovely experience, time and time again.
V. R.
My first time visiting for a friend's birthday dinner, even though I have driven past many times. What an unexpected surprise. The food was divine! Each course was served piping hot, delicious flavours, hats off to the chef. Lovely ambiance, great service. Will definitely return.
J. F.
After a very questionable post-covid experience in an establishment nearby, Davy's welcomed us with open arms, were attentive, covid secure and knowledge as they sat us in a fantastic new open area. Will come again. Thank you
S. W.
Great place. And its the only pub (-ish) kind of place I know that has roast lamb for Sunday lunch. YUM. They dont rush either allowing plenty of time between servings. The only tip I have is to serve food on warm plates as it helps keep food hot for longer.
They have a lot of patience too with that one inconsiderate parent who always thinks its ok for their toddlers to run about amongst the tables of other guess and in the path of staff trying to serve hot food. Tip for the pub, dont shy away in putting parents in there place. After all, if the child gets hurt, the parents will be the first to blame the staff!
oh and the charcuturie is lush and is a great alternative for nibbles when out for some vino with your mates.
Today was my 3rd visit in approx 3 months. As normality returns this could become my new local despite it not being on my doorstep.

A wonderful warehouse of a wine vault on Greenwich High Road, close to the overground station or the DLR. A whopping cavern of a place with books and crannies suitable for groups of all sizes. There is seating outside in the front and a large beer (wine) garden out the back, this also has a number of old presses, scales and other machinery relating to what goes in the bottles. All good stuff. Plenty of food on offer too if you are hungry. The staff are great and eager to help. A superb place to visit whether on your own or with an ensemble (Don't forget the "Rule of Six" in these Covid days). As well as a wide selection of wines you can get beer from the Meantime Brewery and pretty much anything else you may like to drink. Out it on your list to visit!
A. J.
Had a fantastic roast chicken in a huge airy room out the back. Lovely staff, excellent food and surroundings. Recommended. I didn't have wine but my friends said there was a fantastic selection of good wines too.
A. A.
Very pleased with Davy’s in Greenwich! It’s a great wine bar and serves really good food. The staff are pleasant and attentive. Price is also very reasonable. It has a chilled out atmosphere and the decor is rustic giving the place good character. Definitely coming back here with the wife and friends.
S. R.
A great place to visit for lunch or dinner. And a superb party venue. A huge selection of fine wines and spirits to try. A relaxed environment to unwind with excellent service from knowledgeable staff, who make you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. I highly recommend it
K. C.
This place was absolutely amazing. I went to a private party there. The staffs were all amazing and very friendly. Very clean environment and clean toilet. In also planning on using this venue for my next bday party coming up.. Superb! A⭐
K. R.
Super place! The staff were friendly and the portion sizes are generous for mains and dessert. Pretty decor with a nice ambience. Will be back again :)
B. M.
A nice friendly place to enjoy a social evening with friends. The manager is very helpful, the menu is good and the food tasty. Wines are excelent.
R. S.
Found this place by accident when waiting for my partner having his archery training. I wasn't really hungry by that time, but tempted to try their steak when saw that in the menu.
I requested the steak to be cooke medium rare, and it was perfectly cooked the way I wanted. When it goes to wine, I usually use a mobile app to help me choosing the good ones, but when I was there, I just asked the waitress for her suggestions of my preferred taste of wine, and her choice was perfect! I loved it!
The restaurant seating was nice, but the chairs were not the best for comfort. I had to move sitting outside after finishing my meal just to be able to sit comfortably even though it was a bit cold that night.
However, the ambiance, the interior design, the ornaments, and the lighting was so chillaxing. I wish they had better chair and couch though to make it perfect.
M. P.
Went for lunch with my wife. Really friendly service. Good food. The restaurant space is excellent with well spaced tables and lovely ambience.
A. G.
Brilliant service and wonderful food. Definitely go back again
W. B.
Impressive venue , downside was rude waitress who essentially interrogate us for not ordering on the app after she wrote down our order and said she would bring our drinks. After waiting 20 minutes without our drinks appearing she approaced our table asked why we hadn't used the app to order, and after we (unnecessarily) apologised as we were confused by her actions in writing our order down. When she asked what was confusing (rude) we said we were merely tired from being at a wedding the night before. She then said that she was tired because she had been working until 2 a.m. the previous night, and partying was no excuse? It was almost comical how rude she was, especially since our group's order was a simple one (3 shandies, a bloody mary and a ginger beer) and that she had taken our order after SHE had said that the bar was having issues with the app. After another staff member brought our friend's shandy out as a separate half pint and lemonade, I changed my order on the app as it was clear the staff were inexperienced. I don't mind inexperience, every new staff member has to learn on the job, but this woman's rudeness was something we hadn't encountered in bar service before. After lecturing us that she was more tired than we were after we apologised for being confused by her confusing behaviour was more than a tad bizarre.
Other than that, it's a nicely put together bar in a nice spacious building near the Greenwich DLR stop, with drinks priced at a standard rate for the area.
I. W.
Fantastic service, pretty good food, though not cheap. Didn't try the wine but the list was extensive and had something for all tastes.
M.
Very nice place for Sunday dinner. Staff very friendly. Very good wine list and you can also buy the wine from there shop.
J. S.
Great as always.
Ox tongue with capers to start.
Pork schnitzel, a fried egg, black pudding, crisp bacon, with buttered kale and potatoes as side dishes.
Finished with a British cheese plate.
Yum!
S. C.
Cozy underground bar just outside Greenwich DLR station. An area at the back of the bar suitable for private parties (we had about 18 people). Friendly staff. Decent food.
C. H.
Fabulous, though pricy, selection of wines available here.
A. B.
Great wine selection and fantastic staff. A very firm favourite. Dog friendly too.
E. F.
Beautiful space, very nice staff but food is way overpriced for the quality. I got a tiny veg salad which cost £16 and my partner got a burger which was overcooked and cost £13. I'd be willing to spend this amount of money if the quality of the food is up there or the portions were more reasonable, which unfortunately neither is the case here :/
T. H.
Nice environment, exclusive underground bar, serene atmosphere
D. J.
Sadly didn’t have the best experience. It was busy so I understand we would not be getting food quickly but had to ask 4 times for water which we got only at the end of meal. Starters and mains arrived at the same time leaving no space on the table, and the charcuterie board was terrible (only 2 types of cheese- blue and Brie, fatty meats, bread was hard and got rock hard by the time we finished the mains and could even start on this board.. Overall, nice looking place and loads of space outside but the service was very poor and food was underwhelming. Would come back for a glass of wine but would not be ordering a meal...
A. S.
It's a great place for a glass of wine given their experience and the quality of the wine list.
H. W.
Good new menus and as always a great place to have a relaxed and delicious lunch or supper . The revamp has worked well without destroying its original charm
H. C.
Brilliant evening at the wine school. Such a good atmosphere, the team were so accommodating and the wine was fabulous
L. M.
The staff were really good at communication before we arrived, amending the booking and confirming a vegan Sunday roast option. The food and service when we got there were also very good and we would definitely recommend. Everything is nice and clean. I like this place.
S. M.
Great dinner. When are you going to do you breakfasts again?
B. A.
Quirky bar with loads of history and a welcoming atmosphere.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful.
Excellent food at a very reasonable prices.
Delicious selection of good wines.
J. A.
Food is great but on the expensive side but worth it. The service is also very good lovely friendly staff. Added bonus is that it's dog friendly ☺️
V. M.
The food was good, the service i didn't like.
P. D. S.
It is a nice place with great drinks. Their house wine is really good. The only thing that really bothered me is that suddenly still 40min to close, the waiter brought us the bill like telling us to go. We had our drinks half full but we still paid to continue drinking that last glass but after we paid the waiter was telling us every 5min that we had to leave and they weren’t even closing. It was disrespectful
F. W.
We had dinner at Davy's Wine Vaults the other day. I was impressed by the quality of the food and the great friendly atmosphere. I have to say the waiters and the restaurant manager are really great. They always keep you informed that the food will be ready soon, etc. The beetroot salad and the sausage & pork belly rib are both top notch. I loved their wines as well. We brought a birthday cake with us and they are very kind to help us serve it. I had a great time there. Only thing can be improved: a friend of mine said the portion of his starter Crab Salad was a bit small, though I think it's okay. :)
J. A.
Helpful staff, great food and wine with nice decor. Can’t fault it!
D. C.
Prices gone ultra expensive since lockdown ended! We/ group used to go several times a month to eat and drink there. We will no longer use it as a regular meetup, as it's gone too expensive for a pub.
I. P.
Most enjoyable time, friendly atmosphere, good Food and Wine. Great staff..
P. R.
I visited twice there its lovely calm and relaxing place ..the sunday roast is delicious..with a glass of wine, the staff is very polite ....
H. O.
A lovely wine bar and place for Sunfay lunch and food. Really great service from the Host - Belly and her team. Thank ou for accommodating us
S. B.
The best kept secret of Greenwich. The food is amazing and they might know a bit about wine cellars 👀
N. *.
Over priced take far to long to bring drinks.
And didn't even get a drink when ordered on app.
Nice outside seating
S. C.
Lovely old place with good food; above average for pub fare. Friendly and efficient staff too.
J. C.
Stopped in for brunch on a Saturday morning - really solid menu and staff happy to customise. Definitely recommend the full English. Mean mimosas as well. Nice outdoor space and inside has old world feel. Prices average for the area (read not cheap)
M. E.
What I liked most about this restaurant was the wonderful cheery staff, with great wine knowledge and friendly demeanour. Food and menu was great too, well presented, and decent portions. Am just booking a re-visit now with friends - go, you won’t be disappointed!
D. R.
Been many times, this place completely upholds Davy’s reputation for great food and excellent wine. Choice of Pale Ale, Californian and lager. Really great service. It’s chilled and relaxing. Lovely place where you can hear your conversation easily.
B. M.
Good food, well priced ,eating outside was very cold, the table next to me openly smoking was a big put off
J. M.
Wonderful wine bar and restaurant too. Service is ace and the atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable and cosy. Great either in summer or winter. This has a TD rating. TOP DRAWER.
A. G.
Had a couple of drinks here, lovely place, heated outside helps too. The brownie was amazing!
S. D.
Extraordinary, lip-smacking selection of wines. Very elegant place, great service. A very welcome way to step out of the blazing, unseasonable heat. A Carlomagno Fiano from Puglia and a Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc from Franschhoek really stood out to us. Delicious.
M. M.
Have been visiting Davy's since the 80s and seen its fortunes fluctuate. It has always been a pleasantly atmospheric venue both for dining as a couple or in a larger group. Currently the food is of a high standard, the choice of wines good and the staff pleasant and attentive. Prices are competitive for Greenwich and you can usually get a table even at busy times.
A. W. (.
Food and atmosphere was top notch 👍
M. f.
I went for the Evening Wine School and I had an amazing time. They were extremely knowledgeable, passionate about wines, and very friendly. I enjoyed every minute of it, learned a lot and had the chance to taste many great different wines. Highly recommended !
S.
Excellent Sunday roast + wine. Very cosy, oldy worldy
n. c.
A catch up with a pal.. we were Looking for somewhere a little quieter for a drink away from centre of Greenwich.. this was perfect.
Very happy with their covid policy.
Staff were very helpful and very friendly
L. B.
A convenient, classy place to stop for breakfast/brunch before heading off on the DLR. If like me, the thought of a Premier Inn hotel breakfast is enough to send you running for the hills, then Davy's is a welcome destination!
There's nothing explicitly vegan available on the menu, but they were accomodating and allowed my wife and I to swap the egg and halloumi for extra avo toast. All the food was excellent and well presented. Shout-out to the well-seasoned mushrooms; they're easy to get wrong.
For real, it was the best Americano I'd ever had. Great crema and a dark, bitter, but complex flavour. I need to work on my skillz at home to match this!
Service was quick, polite, and not over-attentive. I'd like to come back here and would like to see a separate section on the menu for vegans as they're clearly prepared to accommodate with excellent food.
B. P.
Fantastic especially mid week when it's not so busy
a. f.
Love Davy’s! Had an excellent 3-course meal here on Sunday, food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful wine as well :-)
D. B.
Really helpful staff (especially Ollie), fine wine, beautiful simple & clean ambience!
m. m.
Excellent food.service & beer. Two weeks on & many visits. The No1. Venue in Greenwich.
T. A.
Wine bar that offers a relaxed environment, nice wine and food. Great plates with ham and cheese to always have something on the table to eat while you enjoying good wine and company. The staff waited to close the place until we left which says a lot about the service level.
S. H.
Great steak and as comprehensive a wine list as you would expect from Davy's.
It's a bit quiet on weekdays, which unduly highlights the flakey service, but the food and wine make up for any front-of-house deficiencies.
I've never understood why the restaurant lighting is so bright though. It really scars an otherwise subtle ambiance.
T. L. V.
A very pleasant selection of wines, helpful and knowledgeable staff, and a very distinct atmosphere. One of my favourite places in Greenwich.
S. J.
A beautiful meal in a lovely setting . Was not rushed to finish or vacate our table. A lovely way to spend an evening very relaxed atmosphere with attentive staff. I would recommend this restaurant.
S. R.
Great patio for the summer - on a quiet road, spacious, lots of friendly staff who make sure you don't run short of food or wine. Very fairly priced winelist, do ask the sommelier for advice. Lovely place, will be back.
A. D.
Closed for refurbishment, reopens 19th March 2019.
A gorgeous traditional pub just off the beaten track in Greenwich, so not crazy busy around it thankfully. Top quality food and of course wine and other drinks too. Plenty of outdoor seating with good heat lamps for colder weather. And inside is classy traditional.
B. B.
Exceptional service from Leo; we booked the Office for our daughter’s birthday via Becky and had a great time. Tasty food, too. Thanks guys.
R. T.
Our first trip back to Davy’s since the refurbishment. Still a characterful building but the decor has been freshened up. Great food and really friendly staff!
G. D.
Great food and perfect ambience
R. J.
Great for a steak & wine fix. The meals are always delicious. However, service is always slow to non-existent and meals are pricey! Definitely a once in a while kind of place.
C. M.
Lovely staff, service was second to none. Highly recommend 👌
T. S.
This place has the right atmosphere and a good selection of wines. Staff is chatty but they then forget to bring some orders. It could do with a little bit of music.
W. A.
Very helpful. Got a table for 2 after walking in late the evening. Food was exceptional. Great taste and service very helpful
S. M.
Most enjoyable afternoon, tasting wine!
E. S.
Lovely restaurant. Staff are brilliant, helpful and personable and the food is great!
D. C.
A favourite haunt for a quiet glass of wine in cozy surroundings. Personable team and good food selection, but its the excellent wine list which makes this an lovely few hours well spent.
M. G. T.
A place a bit expensive but has a relaxing atmosphere, lots of tv for watching football
H. H.
Very kind staff, decent wine and food. Good for a quick drink after the hassle of rush hour on the dlr
M. B.
Lovely wine bar in Greenwich, the staff are very knowledgable in relation to the wines on the menu, the food is lovely, bar staff are friendly, there is an outside area with tables which is normally fairly busy in the summer
C. J.
Amazing wine, lovely service, even got sausages and water unprompted for my dog! :)
M. B.
Visited on a Wednesday evening; fairly quiet inside which made it a little hard to get the staffs attention as they weren't always around, food and wine was excellent, great atmosphere for those more intimate conversations. Would visit again.
J. C. C.
Great food, great value. Staff very friendly. We passed by lots of times at different times of the day and it was always busy.
K. S.
Worth walking the extra 5mins! Really great genuine service, smashing food, took care of the kids and the puppy! Thank you for a lovely evening
s. s.
Love this place. Warm, cozy and great Interior. Only drawback is the staff don't seem to have a clue how to make cocktails
C. S.
Very nice place to eat, you can get a table in its own little enclosure if you book in advance. Very polite and obliging staff.
K. M.
Loved this place, nice surroundings bar staff couldn't be more helpful and the prices were sound too, a bottle of nice white wine was around £20 and I noticed the summer menu was very reasonable as well
M. M.
Delicious Sunday roast. Friendly staff. Good wine selection. Cozy atmosphere. Will be returning for sure.
T. T.
Great wine next to the station at Greenwich. Food was nice but a big selectione of wine and they have a shop you can buy wine you like from the pub
B. P.
Staff are amazing so friendly and really go out of their way. Food was amazing and the red wine was yum xx
L. T.
I like this place as it reminds me of my old Salsa class 5min walk. Good company & nice food not to mention the drink :-)
D. B.
Evening meal on short visit to Greenwich. Food and drink very good, service a little slow but nonetheless good.
Worth another visit.
I. S.
Loved the decor and the food. Plus two for one cocktails from the bar till 7 pm! What more could a girl want!
F.
Very nice place...very polite and helpful staff. We stayed outside on a nice day and we had breakfast but inside the place ihas a very nice decor . Coffee and forod were both really nice
A. H.
Great wine bar with friendly staff. The food is also good but I mainly go there for the wines
C. D.
A hidden gem, this place. Not to be confused with the wine bar on street level, venture down the stairs to a candlelit catacomb cocktail bar with light jazz sifting throughout.
R. B.
Nice staff. Thank you!
B. W.
Arrived at 19.30, left at 10. The only other table were from out of town in the restaurant. Enthusiastic staff, vision seems compromised. Execution is haphazard.
A. J.
Amazing service and attention to detail! Knowledgeable, super friendly staff and delicious food 👌 very recommended
l. t.

J. S.

D. A.
Can't recommend enough. Great food, drink, setting, service and friendly staff
G. B.
Nice selection of wines, handy if you're waiting for friends near/at the station and a better choice than the Novotel bar nearby
C. A.
Had a great meal here with friends for dinner. Great staff, food and atmosphere
G. B.
Wonderful..thank you George! And special thx to the chef for providing my delicious gfree dinner courses.
S. B.

J. P.
For a couple of decent glasses of wine, you can't go too far wrong with this place. Good atmosphere downstairs in particular.
R. J.

A great selection of wines as one might expect from this long standing merchant.
J. S.
Should be far more pleasing to the eye, the aesthetics are dated and hygein seems to be low
S. B.
Great friendly staff and very knowledgeable about wine!
R. L.
Nice enough wine selection. Sat on bench outside, which is a nice option in the sunshine

It's a lovely wine bar. It's got a chilled out atmosphere. They have an out door area which is great for the summer. The good is great and friendly staff too.
It's good for function,we had our wedding reception!!
They also do a wine school, which is great and picthed well. So you don't feel out of your depths. The guys were great hosts and have loads or stories and advice, if you were starting off or well experienced.
