Reviews of De Hems Dutch Cafe Bar
D. C.
Great place. Like being in a bar in Europe with the authentic decor and hundreds of beer bottles. Excellent selection of beers and overall great atmosphere and ambience. Highly recommend.
P. R.
Favourite new find. Despite being around for a long long time, this place is new to me. Very good selection of Belgian beers and a few Dutch on tap. Rally enjoyed a few hours of watching the footie, drinking and snacking on bittergarnituur. Super relaxed and very friendly staff.
S. V.
Wonderful pub. Fantastic selection of brilliant beers - especially the strong dark kind - and great comfortable ambience. My go-to pub for Leicester Sq/Piccadilly/Covent Garden area from now on.
K. G.
A historic place with a wonderful atmosphere presenting a variety of the most wonderful beer catalogue rarely found elsewhere - a must visit!
M. E.
We went out of our way to come to De Hems. The beer selection is excellent and the staff very knowledgeable and friendly. I was amazed to see a Brouwerij T'Ij IPA on tap! Unfortunately on the Sat we went there was football showing. I was looking forward to a brown bar vibe, but it was all chanting and stamping feet. I hope to visit again and experience the proper atmosphere other reviewers share.
C. D.
Brilliant place, literally like you're in a Belgium bar in Antwerp. Please try some of the Belgian beers, don't just go for the Heineken! Will come here again.
M. B.
Had my favourite beer from back home on tap. Perfect to wash a portion of bitterballen down with. Lekker!
G. G.
Brilliant authentic Dutch food and beer. Really enjoyed the bitterballen and Kroketten.
D. B.
Nice uncrowded Belgian/Dutch bar in Soho
c. z.
All my favourite belgian and dutch beers on draft. Great service, nice interiors, clean place and good food. I will visit again.
G. K.
No real ales(as far as I could see) but a great range of European beers. Big football screen upstairs. Good atmosphere.
N. K.
They need to get the old dutch menu back, they used to have patatje oorlog, stoofvlees, different types of dutch snack. Now nothing. They are trying to make into a boring pub like everywhere. They need to stop and keep it to It's traditional values. Maybe get a dutch manager who can being the buzz back? Also the flag in the front is wearing out, can't replace it? - got reply from manager, seems sensitive and doesn't understand my criticism, you will win more customers if you keep this pub unique and not like everywhere else in London. People come to London to be inspired not bored. Keeping it the same as elsewhere will ruin the vibe, it has for me.

I've enjoyed going to De Hems for a few years now; was introduced by a friend and it's always a great meeting place with fantastic beers. Went for the first time in about two years at the weekend and had booked a table but got caught up in the most horrendous tube delays and missed our booking. I was so disappointed because we'd been shielding and it was first night out in ages, and the staff did everything they could to accommodate us. The table had been taken (understandably) but the staff really tried to help and when the table became free they came and got us, which was so kind. They went above and beyond and I really was so grateful. Always been a cosy pub but the great service just took it to another level.
L. B.
I live in the Netherlands and visited De Hems for a taste of home. The beers on draft didn’t disappoint but “because of Brexit”, according to the waiters, there isn’t much else Dutch on offer in the bar.
The shots were incredibly expensive but all in all there was a great atmosphere and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
I’d recommend a visit here!
The quote on the wall made me laugh (pictured) - “nonalcoholic beer is like a bra on the clothes line: they’ve taken out the best bit”.
C. r.
Such a great old bar. First drank in there 45 years ago, was good then, great now. Such a superb beer choice, food menu one page beer menu 12 pages. Managed an 8.1 beer after a few others. Food was fantastic, could not rate higher. Will be coming back again whenever in West End.
J. S.
Such a treat to find a place serving real bitterballen and kroketten, a great selection of beers and other drinks, and the fish and chips was also lovely, will definitely be back!
S. A.
Cool place, great vibe, fantastic selection of Dutch and Belgian Beers. Also serve food. It's a shame they only have ONE non-alcoholic beer in the whole place, and even that is not Dutch. Please consider increasing your selection for those of us driving!
G. C.
Reasonable selection of Belgian beers. Staff are not overly professional as when we arrived 3 of them were ranting at a member of staff who had done something. Airing your dirty laundry in public is not always the best way to get things resolved. Another example of Britain not doing customer service.
T. D.
Always fun and friendly with a wide range of belgian and dutch beers. Avoid crowded times like Friday evening and look out for guest beers on tap. A good place to gather before a Soho restaurant outing or to stay and eat if you're feeling like simple pub food.
A. D.
To feel like a Dutcman in London, you must come here. Great selection of Dutch snacks and artisan beers. This two level pub offers both mainstream pub atmosphere on lower and great intimate space on top floor.
Beer is cold and bartender girl is hot and very professional, do not miss understood her gorgeous smile and red lipstick.
T. B.
My favourite pub in London. Probably a bit biased as I worked there for a couple of years in the late 90s, but to this date I still find it has a great atmosphere, great music and a fantastic selection of Dutch and Belgian beers - as a non-beer drinker myself I highly recommend the raspberry beer!
And then there is the Dutch snack food - bitterballen, so yum! Bit of a shame they didn't serve with Dijon mustard as the Dutch do, but super tasty nonetheless.
Excellent location for pre- or post-West-End-Show drinks and a bite. Plus it's on China Town's doorstep, so go for a Chinese after or before. Open till midnight also a perk.
M. A.
Crazy variety of beer, so many tasty ones. Food menu is good. Service is very friendly.
It is quite expensive, be warned. But you can get an Amstel for 5.25 which is pretty standard for the area. It's when you go for the nicer beers that you move into the 6-7.50 region.
P. G.
This is just one of the best. Shame you took Oranjeboom off the menu. But I still love you. Friendly oasis in Central London London with such a great European beer selection that you feel like you are on holiday!
A. M.
I’ve only been there only once but I really liked the place it’s very cozy, the selection of beers is good. Personally I tried for the first time a strawberry beer called FRÜLI and I LOVED IT! So if you really like fruity drinks you should definitely go for it. The staff were nice. I liked the decoration as well the drawings of houses along the wall.
L. K.
Excellent range of beers. Make sure to try the bitterballs, but wait wait wait and let them cool down. They stay very hot inside for quite some time. Enjoy!
C. G.
Had a great experience here; whether having a casual drink or a lively evening with friends a great place to come
J. T.
Great variety of bottled beers available. Always a good atmosphere! They should stay open later...
S. B.
My favourite bar serving a wide choice of draft and bottle Belgium beers in a pleasant continental style bar. Also serving excellent continental food.
K. D.
They have a decent selection of beers, IPAs and it's a good place to come watch live sport. The staff are very friendly too.
F. F.
Great historical Dutch pub in China town, central London. Food and beers are great and great staff.
A. T.
Decent selection of beer. Bit hot inside though
K.
Great selection of draft and bottled beers, attentive and well staffed, general cool vibe and great place to be on a Saturday night. A go-to!
G. S.
If you love beer this is the place to go, great choices of Dutch and Belgium beers at reasonable prices the food is good too, so highly recommend this place 👌
M. A.
Loved this pub, Belgium beers are my absolute fave and this bar does not dissapoint. Lots of different beers to choose from both on tap and bottles.
Place feels warm and cozy and there are quite a few places to sit. Bar staff were very helpful if you needed advice with beer choices.
Will deffo visit again :)
L. T.
One of the best selection of Belgium beers I've found in London. Go if you like good beer!
S. A.
Excellent pub located near soho and theatres . Great selection of beers. Been here multiple times.
p.
Nice pub just of Chinatown, reasonable priced serving Dutch food & snacks among the standard English pub menu with fish and chips etc they have a lot Belgium and Dutch beers on draft including leffe. Great place to go!
P. S.
Great fun on a Saturday night. Very good selection of Dutch draft beers.
Г. М.
I had a pint today! Very nice place. The staff was kind and smiling. With pleasure to drink there….
M. L.
Had a very noce time today watching the football match staff and doormen are very nice and welcoming. I had quick service and nice drinks. Only criticism is that the venue is intimate so would recommend a booking. 5 stars. Shout to Abdul and Dave on the door.
T. H.
Great selection of Belgian beers on draught and bottled! Quick and friendly service
V. F.
Love this place! So many delicious Belgian fruit beers to try. And great food too :) I have been back many many times, it's probably my favourite pub! Today I tried their "Big Cow" burger and it was one of the most delicious burgers I've ever eaten!
S.
If you can’t wait to go back to The Netherlands to have Dutch food, this is the place to go. I highly recommend the Frikandellen Speciaal. For a moment I thought I was back in Amsterdam. Please open up a branch in South East London. I can not wait to return. Dank je wel!
I. S.
Friendly pub with excellent selection of Dutch beers. The Beyond Burger is a must! - so much better than any of the meaty options! Toilets are downstairs so might not be suitable for those with accessibility needs.
R. G.
Always a good place for a drink.
Popped in on my birthday. The staff were friendly, the mulled wine was good. The Belgian beers were awesome as always.
That said, delirium tremens on tap tasted slightly flat, which is annoying given the prices!
T. S.
I went there looking for dutch kroketes but they where disappointing. No spice at all.
A lot of dutch beers though.
C. M.
Best place for fruit beers, the Frulli strawberry beer is the best!! Great atmosphere and great location, a must for anyone visiting London or a regular place to drop in for a drink
H. L.
Nice range of beer and ales but get there early as its, well central London
R. A.
An excellent selection. It's not a trip to London without a drink here, pre Chinese.
N. A.
This is a pub that throngs when Holland are playing football , great atmosphere and a great looking building in a Dutch style. Following an earlier review the owner invited me back, they've been busy. I am very pleased to see it back to its old self. The staff, beer and food were great.
D. D.
the best beer in london
t. t.
Really enjoyed the time there, the food is amazing the flavours good so well, if you're looking for a vast amount of beers then this is the place for you. I will be back.
A. W.
Nice beers and food but the staff could be more helpful and tone down the attitude.
m.
Stopped by whilst I was getting my phone repaired. Superb selection of beers, friendly service from the tall Dutch guy. Great little spot. Was recommended the bitterballen which were delicious. Will def b back.
k. k. s. c.
Good. Prompt service ranges from harmlessly indifferent to vaguely friendly. Food used to be better when they offered more Dutch options on the menu. The Dutch offerings are now reduced to 'snacks' since the take over, some years ago, by a pub chain. But De Hems remains a great place with a fascinating history. Do come here for the broad selection of (often strong) continental beers. And the Borrelhapjes are still well worth investigating - even if the atmosphere is a bit flat these days. You haven't been to Soho, London without a visit to 'the Dutch Bar'.
L. D.
Great pub. Sell good variety of drinks.
n.
Lovely range of beer, beautiful decor and polite staff. Clean toilets and good general vibe. Didn't get any pictures but will on my next visit ‼️
N. W.
Super selection of Belgian and Dutch beers. Often a surprise or two on tap and in bottles. Staff friendly. Be careful though as the ceiling leaks when it rains.
D. B.
Nice uncrowded Belgian/Dutch bar in Soho
S. F.
Wonderful atmosphere and really good service. The beer isn't bad either.
C. B.
Could there be too much choice! I might spend the day here to try them all! Lovely atmosphere, recommend the strawberry beer
P. D.
Nice bar lovely beer but no cider and for 1 beer and a coke over £10 was a bit over priced
J. S.
Great range of beer and super friendly staff. Recommended.
E. C.
Good reasonably priced snack foods. Onion rings to die for- beer battered, tasty and not greasy! Pretty good beer selection on tap and bottled. Not expensive for the area.
M. P.
Some superb Dutch /Belgian beers, though difficult to work out what they were going to be, so we did a selection. Late opening on a Wed night so perfectly set up to go on to Ronnie Scott's afterwards.
S. M.
Fabulous place - a part of London history - just stand outside with a pint and watch it all happen
J. S. B.
Absolutely love this gaff, today is the first time I ate here and oh my, I'm sure anything on the menu will be made with love and appreciation for tradition. Great selection of quality beer and spirits. Always a positive time coming here. Great location and obviously last but not least pleasurable staff members. Definitely a must visit in London.
K. H.
Historic Dutch / Belgian bar close to Chinatown and Soho with a great selection of draught and bottled beers including fruit beers on tap. It features a mainly Dutch food menu.
N. F.
Nice atmosphere, good choice of beers
B. R.
Great beers but we were kicked out 15 mins after ordering as they were closing. They should have told us when ordering; I don't like being urged to drink so quickly.
B. N.
Great ambience. Great beer. Terrific place!
Really a great place to meet old friends. And the burgers are wonderful!
E. s.
Nice selection of beer but scary expensive and the staff weren't very friendly (I think this might be given it's central London location)
O. M.
Nice beer selection, good atmosphere. Owned by Dutch owners. Food is nice but a bit pricy and not huge portions.
D. G.
Really friendly staff and Delirium Tremens on tap!
G.
Nice selection of strong beers, worth popping in before having some food in the area.
S. D.
What a brilliant Dutch/Belgian pub in the heart of Leicester Square! A brilliant selection of Dutch, Belgian and beers from across the world! The staff here (during the easing of lockdown) were polite, excellent table service and a really lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be return there again soon!
M. W.
Immerse yourself with a bit of Dutch courage here and thereafter, a bowl of wonton noodles at a nearby Chinatown restaurant.
K. G.
A cool place with loads of history and all kinds of authentic Dutch beers. Mid-range prices.
V. W.
A solid Belgian/Dutch beer bar. The food goes well with the beers, but don't expect a feast.
P. T.
Really like this bar. Great beers and good atmosphere. Went today and staff unfriendly and rugby ruling. Not for me anymore.
B. C.
I am now a fan of Dutch Beer. lovely place, highly recommend
P. R.
Always end up after a night out in the west end, great beer, also the chips and gravy is amazing
C. D.
Nice atmosphere and great range of beers. Hubby enjoyed a strawberry wheat beer 😋
E. S.
Awesome food and beer! Great ambience too
T. L.
Lovely bar with an amazing selection of beers on tap and in bottles. Will definitely be back!!
E.
A nice bar with a classic selection of Belgian beers, bottle menu goes deep as well.
They were having a mare with the fire alarm the night we were there.
C. L.
Excellent pub selling an excellent range of beers with the Belgian beers amongst the cheapest in the area.
A. B.
This is a beautiful London gem which I did not know it existed. I thought it was French to find out it actually was Dutch and obviously like all good Dutch pubs it offers a great selection of Belgian beers too.
I did not try the food but the ambiance was beautiful, with low level lighting and very comfortable seating.
The pub was very clean and friendly. Staff were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. They knew their beer options and could advise of the options available.
A. B.
One of the best places in London for dutch and Belgian beers, fantastic history and a hidden gem in London and Soho
a. o. c.
Great beers in a wonderful location!
T. R.
The hems is a really great Dutch café, located on the outside of China Town. They got Dutch drinks and food like Heineken, grolsch and bitterballen. The TV shows Dutch football (soccer) matches.
P. H.
1st time ever I've been served a pint of Leffe! 😋👍
D. J.
Great selection of beers and decent food
R. B.
Been popping in here from time to time for the last 25 odd years. Today I tried the food for the first time and boy have I been missing out. Beef and ale stew with chips Dutch style (you know I can't spell its name).Tasty and comforting on a rainy day. The beer was flawless and at around 9% as usual. Seriously if you like beer this is a place to be, they even have lambic even if it is for the price you would expect.
P. D.
Fantastic choice of drinks. Many of the beers are unusual, Belgian and Dutch, some of which are very strong as well as being very tasty. Staff very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Definitely visit again.
K. D. C.
My company booked an area upstairs for our Christmas Party 11/1/2020. The process of booking and the communication back and forth was very easy. We ordered off the buffet menu and the food was great. Catered for the vegans and vegetarians amongst us as well as the meat eaters. Lots of choice for drinks as well, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Managed my tab well and kept me updated as we approached my limit, and made sure we didn't spend beyond that amount accidentally. I would definitely recommend De Hems work work parties as they handled our booking and requirements really well.
V. K.
This pub has been there for years! Always good selection of beer and lager and good-humoured bar staff. No pressure on us either to buy more or to leave. Nice chips, fiercely expensive (though maybe not for the area).
V. E.
Was here for my 7 year anniversary seeing I'm Dutch, and me and the girlfriend have an incredible soft spot for bitterballen.
I just wanted to leave this review as we were looked after so well by Shirley, who had just come back to work following a month's leave ... And now has to go back to not working due to lockdown.
I think she is a star, very friendly and joyful, and looking forward to her friendliness after this is all over, when I come back for some bitterballen.
Y. B.
Awesome Dutch bar with loads of excellent Belgian beers. Some on the expensive side but not many places serve these. Has a selection of Dutch/Belgian food as well in addition to the usual English pub fare. Good atmosphere any time of the day. Cool inside on a hot summer day or has 3 tables outside in the sun.
A. C.
Always great service and always great beers. Definitely my favourite spot to visit around here! Best selection of Dutch and Belgian beer in central London.
R. T.
Awesome selection of Dutch and Belgian beers .. worth visiting
G. A.
Great bar, even better selection of beers, so it's unfortunate that the staff don't know anything about them. Would be nice to get some recommendations, instead of being told to Google the beers because the labels are in a foreign language :-/
M. S.
Love this pub. Very casual, very Dutch, massive beer selection. Don't go upstairs though, has the reputation of smelling weird upstairs and went I went to see (smell) for myself, it was true. But all is great downstairs. They also have traditional Dutch food, both bar food and proper meals.
V. R.
Having worked here over 10 years ago I have a soft spot for De Hems. It's less "dutch" themed than I remember but they still have a great selection of beers and some great Dutch snacks (I'd recommend the kaassouffle - breaded deep fried cheese - no they are not healthy and dont try and eat them straight away but they are yum!). The bar isn't huge but it does have an upstairs bar as well. Can get really busy but great if you're looking for a central bar with some great beer.
A. C.
What a great find and a real treat for Central London! Hosting German and Belgium beers, this place would add an interesting and playful dimention to the casual 'meet and drink'! The prices are decent, especially for being so central, and staff are friendly and helpful.
J. S.
Great for dutch people who like to get a taste of back home. Also for people who like to taste a real dutch beer. Also a friendly barman
A. T.
Good solid pub atmosphere. Prices are reasonable with solid 100+ beer selection. Staff were friendly and recommended a great new beer for me. Food was recommended by a friend but I find it a bit average. Prepared fried cheese and meat. Would go back to the pub again but not for the food.
D. B.
Shirley is very lovely 🤩xx
P. P.
Lovely wide selection of beer as always. But the draught Früli here, has my ❤....
T. G.
Friendly staff, quick service. Nice bar
E. c.
Fun pub in the heart of Soho! Good selection of Beers bottled and on Tap! Great for watching the sport, gets quite busy but has people evenly spread over the two floors and has a great atmosphere! It's oddly deceptive in size.... Don't get lost.....!
D. H.
Visited February 2018. Staff knowledgeable about the beer they serve. Able to make great beer recommendations based on personal experience. Also great atmosphere generally and good choice of 'regular' beers if you are not there to try the excellent range of Belgian style beers! Favourite is the Triple Karmeliet which they serve in a bottle but you get a cool glass. (They also stock a range of craft IPAs but did not try these).
A.
Very lovely place. Amazing selection of Dutch drinks. But a bit crowded and no table service. You have to go to the bar every time you want to order. And I wish they had a smoking area.
A. d. W.
A good place perfectly located. A lot of Belgians and Dutch go there to see sports games from their favourite National teams. Very good Belgian beers... they have Delirium and even White Vedett on the tap! Delicious.
K. S.
One of my favourite pubs in the West End. Not cheap but good service and never too busy. Recommended.
M. C.
Nice place, a lot of beers to choose from. I like the interior. Tiny seating outside about two tables.
H. S.
I'm no expert in Dutch bars (or beers) so tend to go with the flow on these matters. De Hems didn't disappoint. The alcohol percentage was higher than normal but the flavour wasn't compromised. And the different shaped glasses that accompany the beers are interesting. It has a large selection of drinks, nice decor and a friendly atmosphere. It's worth a visit if you fancy something different.
C. J.
I love this bar and the atmosphere and food and choices of beers and slap bang in the city
S. G.
Slightly pricey but very good original Dutch beer selection as well as many other choices. It's a cosy pub with larger and smaller tables and a great place for a drink between meals or for food. Great for groups or small parties.
C. S.
As a Dutchie, of course I would appreciate a Dutch pub in London. However, besides my initial bias, it is a very nice, airy and large pub, with a good selection of beers and friendly service. The upstairs areas are nice for catching up and chatting and they also serve some traditional Dutch snacks (although sadly no Vegetarian options, so had to miss out on that). The public is very mixed, with I suppose occasionally some Dutch people. They also stream Dutch and European football matches here in case you're looking for a place to watch the games.
T. C.
I always really enjoy time over there. Excellent beer selection . Superb service. Like atmosphere over there. Definitely I will come back.
r. s.
Vince is the best, he gave us a table when they had 20 mins till closing and recommended us good stuff. Love him, love this place will definitely come back!
D. B.
Perfect place to go with friends, drinks and food are excellent. Would definitely recommed asking for Vincent at the door, excellent and entertaining waiter :)
T. F.
Good pub but spenny
P. H.
Perfect selection of Dutch/Belgian beers. Very crowded on a Saturday night, maybe a bit more room upstairs. Knowledgeable staff and just perfect location in the centre of everything. Recommended visit whenever British ales just don't feel satisfying enough.
Z.
Fantastic place - we went there for the Belgium Vs Tunisia World Cup match and loved the ambience created. We received free (great quality) Belgium t-shirts that we have kept and now wear for every Belgium Match and the beers there are bloody amazing! Staff are very friendly and accommodating - overall great experience.
m. p.
Great atmosphere and different beers
M. C.
Been going here for several years so my Dutch wife gets a little slice of home. Great pub which, like any vental pub can get very busy.
I would say forget trying to get in when Holland are playing but that hasn't happened for a while...
My only issue is recently it feels like they're moving away from the Dutch feel and becoming a little too much like other pubs. I've noticed non-Dutch/Belgian beers on the taps and the food, aside from some traditional snacks, is the same as any other UK pub food.
s.
Great atmosphere. Great drinks. Lovely employees. Especially when Ajax or the Dutch national team play football this is the place to be. Home away from home for Dutchies. But also a great place when you’re not Dutch.
M. E.
A really nice Dutch bar in a very central location. Very nice ambience and atmosphere. It was especially good to get a pint of Lindeboom, not a beer I have seen for a while.
A. P.
We had a bit of room reserved upstairs where there was one guy serving behind the bar. On a Tuesday night it wasn't super busy, so no queuing, but very relaxed with the usual great selection of beer. Some of the group had food (I didn't) which looked great. Always a good choice for a beery night out.
W. M.
Decent pub, often quite busy. Wouldn't suggest it for a 'Dutch' experience. Is more like a regular pub with some Dutch beers on offer. Because of being so crowed, we left pretty early on.
S. W.
Best bar in Chinatown, lots of Belgium beers on tap. Gets busy.
J. W.
Great little pub in China Town
Z. S.
I got hooked on this place. The best bartender ever who really knows the selection of beers they have (90 something of import beers). If you ever experienced good Dutch beers you will find one, like me (le chouffe). Don't worry if u have no clue, the bartender guy can offer something that will blow your mind.
M. L.
Great range of beers (especially draft) and lovely atmosphere. The staff are wonderful and so helpful when you want to try something new. Sad they’ve taken La Trappe Dubbel off tap though!
J. H.
Fabulous atmosphere for the football. We reserved a table and so glad we did as the pub was full be kick off. There is a good selection of tasty food and a fantastic choice of beers.
J. R.
Great beer. Strong true IPAs. Fish and chips were quality.
D. L.
Good selection of Belgian and other continental beers. Generally good atmosphere compared to other pubs in this area, but the music is often too loud past about 7pm to have a conversation - strange for a pub with no dancing going on.
T. W.
The selection of beers in this place is unrivalled in central London, and the food is completely different to the usual burgers, gammon steak, bangers and mash etc you're likely to be served up elsewhere.
It's really all about the drinks though, they have a silly range of Dutch and Belgian beers on tap and in bottles. Pilsners, trappist, fruit beers of various flavours - if you like beers you're going to be alright.
It can get crowded, but that's for a reason - it's the best pub in the area. The upstairs tends to be less hectic and you can usually find a table there unless you're going at prime time on a Friday.
T. P. (.
Been here with friends in a rainy afternoon. The place is really nice and cosy, with tables on ground floor and 1st floor. We had a good cider and a very good mixed plate of Dutch starters (sausages and croquettes) as a shared snack. Multiple big screens were present, showing current football matches.
B. D. J.
It has a great selection of dutch food and dutch beer, the atmosphere is second to none, the staff are great, friendly and knowledgeable of their selections of beer, it is in a great location. Food is of a high quality, it has a real dutch feel to what the dutch call the "kroeg" (pub) a must visit if you want to experience Mini Holland in the UK!!
A.
The bitterballen are nice, and a lot of the employees are Dutch. Ended up not having a Dutch beer because of the inflated prices though. My favourite beer is £1,95 back home, here £6,60.
A. G.
A unique pub, how many other Dutch bars in the orbit of London's Chinatown, theatre district and Gay scene will you encounter? Good staff, a really interesting range of Dutch beers, and THAT location .
S. H.
Came here after a work collegue recommended I try it, seeing as I love Belgian beers. Here you can find a range of Belgian and Dutch craft ales, German wheat beers as well as lesser known microbrewery beers. A must visit for people seeking out something different to your average English pub.
C. C.
It's a nice pub in that there us a decent choice of beers and is not unreasonably proceed given its location. However, it absolutely stinks of chlorine as they use a cleaning product that is far too strong and chemical. This is totally overpowering and really spoils the pub experience.
P. M. H. S.
Pretty good selection of European beers and Dutch bar snacks with a fun atmosphere of 90s and 00s music. Great place to be in central London on a weekend. Can get very busy!
L. D.
Great place. Lower end of London beer prices, for really nice selection of european beers. Seating and second bar upstairs, somewhere quiet when matches are on downstairs. Really friendly staff.
P. M. C.
Characterful pub in a good location. Very busy at night, but this adds to the atmosphere. Good selection of drinks at standard London prices (steep!). Food was dissapointing and the reason it doesn’t get five stars. Greasy and poor value, but don’t let that put you off visiting, just eat somewhere else first. Would I visit again? Of course.
G. T.
Amazing STRONG Belgium beers.
p. l.
I think my granddad has been here during the 2e world war. He was sailing between england and holland as a captain for the dutch "Koopvaardij". He never told us were he realy stayed but i like to thinks that he drunk his beer in this pub.
Now my son lives in London and this is his favoriet Pub. It gives me a good feeling!
A. M.
A nice pub with a great selection of interesting beers. Friendly staff too.
B. S.
A great spot for a Dutch person in London or for anyone who wants a taste of the Netherlands! A wide selection of Dutch and Belgian beers is available and the pub is comfortable with friendly staff. The location is great with China town and Soho right in the doorstep it's a great place to meet at the start of an evening. The best thing about it is the availablity of some truly amazing bar snacks. The Dutch invented an entire genre of food just to accompany wine and beer and bitterballen are a must have! Beef Ragu covered in breadcrumbs is better than you could ever imagine, traditionally served with a mustard dipping sauce. This is the only place I have found in London that serves them - just make sure not to burn your mouth as they need time to cool off!!
J. H.
They changed the decor recently, added fake Dutch masters which is quite nice. Still this pub is sooo not Dutch. I think it's due to the fact it's part of a chain, they didn't have Dutch snacks for ages as well thought they should be back now. It's worth going for those. The beer selection is pretty poor compared to the Belgian pubs around London. This place doesn't have a good selection of Dutch beer. Other smaller or more niche places like the Euston Tap or Exmouth Arms have a better (though always changing) selection. You also need to be really careful with your stuff here. When I organised my office leaving drinks at De Hems my colleague got her new sneakers stolen that were in a bag under our table, someone else had their laptop stolen here and other people I know who've been have also had something stolen. Its central London so just be wary as in any busy place. I've been here many times, but even though I'm Dutch it's definitely not my staple hangout pub.
C. W.
Could be in a real Dutch pub rather than in Soho. Dark, leather gives a cosy feel. Beer menu covers wide range of types, tastes and countries. Not cheap but worth trying to sample more unusual beers or as a good starting point.
S. S.
A veritable treasure trove of standard and unusual beers. Staff were friendly despite the very busy nature of the pub located very near to London's "China Town" district. Prices above normal but then most of the beers are not readily available elsewhere and are different. Recommended.
A. P.
Lovely bar with excellent choice of Dutch, Belgium and British beers.
D. P.
I've loved this bar since my first visit in 1998 and try to get there whenever I visit London. They've got a fantastic selection of beers on tap, my favourite being Leffe Blonde. They're not cheap but this isn't one of the typical 'session drinking' places, you go here for good quality beer that has flavour.
I also like the fact that each drink has it's own style of glass, the most interesting being the hour-glass shaped one for Kwak. If you're in London and want something a bit different and unique this should definitely be on your to visit list.
D. T.
A quiet boxing day visit. Lovely bar, plenty of continental beers available. Can't see any casks on but there are a couple of pumps. Pleasant welcoming staff. Right in Chinatown, worth a visit.
L. F.
One of the few pubs in London that has Belgian beers (even a witbeer) on tap. The bar staff is friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is laid back - highly recommend!
J. R. W.
A lovely Dutch bar in central London on the edge of China town. The bar is spread across two floors serving pub style food and a fantastic range of fruit beers. Its very popular and has a really nice friendly vibe:D)
C. F.
Busy and popular Central London pub with a great selection of Belgian and Dutch beers. Dutch bar snacks are also available. Upstairs room used to be available for comedy evenings, but I have no idea if that is still happening.
T. c.
Great pub. Better beers(London PRICES) GOOD kroketten.
D. P.
Liked the manager, nice guy, plus excellent lambic.
D. P.
An old favourite, great service and great selection of beers
M.
Really nice Dutch bar in the heart of Soho. The beer selection is very extensive with scores of different beers from Holland and Belgium, the fruity ones among others. This bar is also very popular during sports event when the Netherlands team is playing as it’s a place where many Dutch come to watch wearing orange colours
I.
Good range of Belgian and continental beers. Try delerium on tap. Taking covid precautions seriously - table service only , hand gel on arrival
J. K.
Had a great time here. It was very cosy. Service was impeccable. Thank you Theo for looking after us so well.
M. F.
A great pub for a social drink with friends and a good central meeting point for the China Town/Soho area. Now Nicholson owned it does a mixture of English and Dutch food,. Still a great selection of Dutch and Belgian beers with the house beer being Lindeboom. You can also get English bitters too if you prefer.
Split across 2 floors there's plenty of room and a small outside drinking and smoking area to enjoy the ambience of China Town. Well worth popping in, even if only for a passing pint.
R.
Great atmosphere with friendly staff. Will likely come again
O. K.
Best service, friendly staff and best beer in London
E. D. B.
For where it is, this pub is a god send. A great range of beers, and some unusual dutch bar snacks make it a great pit stop on your way to something more exciting.
Due to the location it gets pretty busy, but a little bit of patience should see you find a table upstairs.
R. F.
One of the best pubs in Chinatown. Really excellent selection of beers, loads of craft beers and a nice venue. Such a refreshing change from a lot of the very touristy venues in Central London.
B. F.
Haven't been here since 1997 but knew the wonderful landlady and big beefy doorbloke called Piers.
Spent an amazing evening there drinking Oranjeboom and eating bitterbollen and getting moony over Della the Danish barmaid. I can't imagine they do lockins anymore though.
7 out of 5.
J. M.
My friend hired the upstairs bar for a birthday party. Good little bar right in the midst of Chinatown; my friend got to supply the music and move the tables around but expect to pay central London prices (£10 for a double rum and coke). The card machines went down while we were here and all cards got declined so I was asked to go across the street to the cash machine which was annoying but I guess unavailable and the staff did apologise.
P. D.
Great bar with beers usually not seen in the UK
N. v. M.
Just came back from holiday in Holland and went to work at a client site. I looked on Google Maps for nice places to eat at for lunch nearby, and it only went and told me that this Dutch pub was right around the corner. So of course I just had to go there and have some lunch.
I had a look at the menu and ordered the Kroket plate - very nice and I liked the special mustard mayonnaise. I just missed a Kaasoufle, which seems to not be an option on the menu and staff informed me they didn't know what it was.
I was also very happy to see all my favourite strong beers in the fridge - La Chouffe, Delerium, Duvel, etc etc.
I will definitely be coming back here of an evening to sample all the classic foods and beer choices.
W. C.
Probably my favorite pub in Soho. Great selection of bottled Belgian beer, wide variety of decent taps, good music and super friendly bar staff. Can get busy but service level stays high even when the place is packed out.
G. m.
visited with my partner who is a big Beer fan and he loved the range of beers they had.
got served by a lovely guy leo I think his name was.
great service.
great food.
will be coming back again
S. P.
A nice and cozy place, with a lot of types of beers
G. L.
Always great to go there and find Belgian beers.
D. H.
A little gem of a place. Primarily continental beers, food looked good. Has history linking the bar to the Dutch resistance during WW2, recommend you pop in for a pint of good continental beer.
E. B.
Best Dutch and Belgian beer selection in Central London. Bar staff known their stuff and are friendly and helpful.
C. S.
Great after work drinks spot in Soho. Excellent selection of Belgian and Dutch beers in a cosy wood clad bar. They also had Bevertown Lupuloid IPA on as guest ale on my visit, which is one of the easiest drinking IPAs I've tried.
E. P.
Cracking place. Loads of tasty Dutch beer (yum!) And decor is lovely inside. Could easily spend all day in there, especially with the stronger beers!
J. H.
I love their beers, though they are expensive. However, as it's beers you don't normally see in your local, then that's perhaps the price to pay. Food was nice, especially the wonderfully indulgent katsu chicken burger.
A. S.
Would never expect to find a lovely Dutch pub in Chinatown, but nevertheless glad that De Hems is there. It can get busy but I was with a group that thought ahead and booked a couple of tables upstairs - do that if you can. They have plenty of Dutch beers if you're into that, including strawberry and cherry varieties that are lovely (if a little embarrassing - they're bright pink) to drink.
K. C.
Lots of great beers, and Früli on tap!
S. B.
Shame they don’t do kaassoufles or Flügel anymore:(, beside that always nice to have a little bit of home close by! And love the beer selections, would be great to have Heineken 0.0 as well:)
S. C.
Nice dutch pub with typical food ( but there's also traditional English pub food), good beer selection and sometimes there's also live music. Thd place is quite big and in two floors but always very packed, and this can be very annoying, expecially for the noise.
a. r.
Good walk through China town today
K. U.
Good pub with a large selection of Dutch and Belgian beers and some Dutch snacks like frikandellen, bitterballen, vlammetjes, kaassoufflees. Most of the time the musical is your standard pub sound, but on special occasions (Kings day) they play Dutch songs.
E. B.
This is essentially a Dutch pub in the centre of Chinatown in London, it has a good range of Dutch beers including Delirium Tremens on tap. The pub has two floors with a bar on each one of the floors. A good place to meet if you are already in the centre and am meeting with friends.
E. T.
Oh my goodness, this place serves my favourite Belgian beer, Fruli!!!! I have been working around this area for 4 years now.....and never walked into this pub.
Leffe, another good Belgian beer, is also there! Woo!!
So I asked a few fellow lawyers and lawyers in training to attend this amazing place and we loved it. There were quite some space to stand around, the barmaid was quite attentive (I am so sorry that our group took a while to decide what we were ordering) and she remained patient. The other patrons are all well dressed and noone was drunk, this is a good sign.
Sometimes you could smell tantalising food being delivered to patrons, the smell of jacket potatoes were so good. Next time I will definitely order food here if I had no other plans.
No wonder, that time after doing some filming as an extra in China Town, I saw Jason Statham walk straight into this pub. That's a thumbs up from celebrity yo!
a. f. t. r.
They had the strawberry bear which I fell in love with, the best one I have ever had, my friend introduced me to this place, on the day we went because there was a game happening it did not have a lot of chairs and tables to sit down and drink and because I was wearing heels in the end it became uncomfortable and we had to keep changing our positions due to where the tills were and moving around which was a bit annoying but the drinks, I tried a few others with the elephant and loved every single one of them, I will come back for more.
P. E.
Nice pub with a huge collection of beers. If you are bored with classic english lager or ales, go have a Leffe or a white beer on tap there. They also have plenty of bottled Belgium beers (Tripel, Chimay, ...)
Don't expect to find a seat easily though.
C. M.
I am dying for their „Früli“ Strawberry Beer
Awesome warm ambience with a Dutch Charme. Not too expensive a Place on Weekends crowded but in the Daytime cool.
„MUST TRY THE FRÜLI“
It’s my Favorite Place when I visit London❤️👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 All Thumbs up👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
J. S.
Love this place for good food and a quiet drink during the day. After work the place is busy and a good mix of clientèle.
Still visit this place some 10 years after finding it and it is still just as good. Enjoying a lunchtime pint right now. Cheers.
K. S.
De Hems combines a pub-like atmosphere and a good selection of Dutch and Belgian beers both on tap and in bottles. Nearly every Trappist beer is represented. For the faint of beer, Fruli and other fruit beers are well represented.
Downside: it is just off from Chinatown in Soho, and is generally rammed on Friday and Saturday nights.
E. Q.
Loved the place. A fantastic pub right in the middle of the Westend.
A great choice of beers but unfortunately some work needed in regards to service by some bar staff.
A. F.
Good selection of beer and lagers and way more than you get in most places. But £6.10 for a vedette lager isn't worth it though, the place is just a pub after all.
J. D.
Lovely friendly pub
N. H.
Decent central London Dutch/Belgian there car, good beer choices
E. M.
Interesting pub in the heart of China Town. It specialises in Dutch and Belgian beers and food. Always busy, sometimes very. It's an excellent place if you wAnt to try some unusual beer or are devoted to Dutch mitterballen.
M. M.
Great meeting place, nice and central on the edge of Chinatown. Prices as expected. Can be busy but service is usually pretty quick. IF you arrive after 9pm you can usually get a seat.
S. W.
Was probably a great exotic range of Dutch beers once upon a time. But time has caught up, you can get La Trappe in Sainsburys now and this place feels underwhelming and overpriced.
V. K.
Traditional Dutch pub in central London. Upstairs has a bar, large tables and a big screen, perfect for watching sports. Beer options are a bit different than in a traditional English pub.
R. P.
One of my favourite places near Soho area. Good selection of beers. Food is ok but expect a typical pub food. Nice to see some sports on occasionally.
V. P.
A nice normal pub with a great selection of beer, including some Dutch favourites. Also a great selection of authentic Dutch snacks and bar food. Worth a visit!
N. N. O.
Very nice pub in China Town. Very good beers from Holland. Very comfortable inside. Very busy at times but I tend to go there outside peak times. Recommend watering hole.
G. W.
De hems has got to he best Belgian beer selection, love the kriek Beers, definitely worth a visit
P. N.
Dutch themed pub in the heart of China town. A range of European beers served the way the Europeans serve them. If you want to go a bit more extravagant they'll ask you to turn over a shoe in exchange for a Kwak glass.
J. T.
Great selection of Belgian beers on tap. Open til late and quite friendly staff. Note it gets quite crowded on weekends.
C. B.
Unique London pub steeped in history with Dutch connection
Good snacks and large range continental dutch / belgian strong beers.Tv screens for news and football depending on fixtures.
D. F.
Friendly, organised and helpful staff complemented by a fantastic range of bottles and draft European beers. Love it
t. h.
Pricey but some great beers. Last few times I've been sat outside and everyone seems to smoke. Bar upstairs less busy and serve God grub.
S. D.
One of the best pubs in London for beers! Great variety and nice atmosphere. It can get pretty crowed on weekends and rush hours.
S. C.
Spacious pub showing football in Soho. If you're near Soho and want to watch football it's your best choice. Good size with multiple screens. And right beside Chinatown if you're hungry too
j. R.
Great beer. Great atmosphere even with social distancing. Make sure u have the strawberry beer.
v. p.
Great selection of beers
D. B.
Selection of Belgium beers as well as from other countries, including the UK. We only had snacks here but the Peanut and Mayonnaise chips were yum! The bar had a nice 'Old fashioned' feel to it.
A. M.
In order to judge authenticity, I had to make sure to go with Sharon S, my token Dutch friend. Along with two other experts in drinking and crawling, we stopped by here for a refreshing pint of Dutch lager and an assortment of fried snacks. The Dutch lager (Oranjeboom I think) was light with a hoppiness that leaned towards Hoegaarden but not quite so intense. Very refreshing, it is a versatile beer that is equally at home with food or one its lonesome.
The variety of food (basically we ordered the sharing platter) was adequate as bar snacks and the bitterballen was definitely the highlight. In retrospect, I think I'd have stuck with ordering just bitterballen and more of it rather than the variety but it was interesting to try. These items are served with "fritessauce" which is basically ketchup and some brown sauce, both of which are good accompaniments.
S. F.
Great pub with a good selection of wines. It's a central London pub so naturally it gets pretty busy at times. But it has great character and the staff are nice.
J. E.
Top bar for beer offocianados. Something like 100 continental beers. Lots of history. Decent Dutch small plates. A great bolt hole in the heart of London.
K. A.
Good pub but annoyingly use IKEA like pint glasses so there's no head in any of the drinks. Would have preferred it if they used proper pint glasses.
P. B.
Probably my favourite pub I went to during my last trip to London. The drink choice was unbeatable, as you'd expect from a Dutch pub. The staff were also nice and helpful.
S. C.
Took a Spanish friend here to debate the Bitterballen/Croquetas dilemma. Enjoyed a few drinks in a nice atmosphere and never did agree on which were better...
Friendly staff, plenty of seating upstairs, very central. A great place to meet friends in London.
G.
Not exactly like an Amsterdam bar, but it makes a good attempt. Many popular Dutch beers on tap. Bar snacks and meals with a Dutch theme. Limited outdoor seating. Steep staircase to WCs. Free wi-fi.
J. M.
Maybe it's a bit mellower in the daytime but on Saturday night it was loud and leary, packed with out of town revellers drinking in the frenetic style of Soho. Perhaps at less busy times it takes you to a cosy, dark Amsterdam bar. For now, however, only a wide Dutch beer selection and bar staff in Orange t shirts makes it De Hems rather than any of the other Soho boozers thereabouts.
J. L.
Nice pub good food Really good beer and friendly staff. What more can you ask for? Wide variety of different world beers. Make sure to ask for the beer menu when you visit.
A. D. B.
Great place for an after work drink as there's a wide selection of yummy beers to choose from. Food is also pretty tasty too and it doesn't tend to be as crammed as most other pubs in the area.
T. N.
Amazing selection of beers and great screens for the football. Loads of space and seats upstairs if it looks busy downstairs.
S. D.
Totally agree with the other reviewers - this area is NOT good and this bar is an oasis of niceness before a Prince Charles or Curzon film treat. It's a chilled out relaxing place full of quality European drinks - including lovely cherry beer - and slightly odd snackfood.
B. V.
The max - history here is everywhere - great experience
A. G.
Fantastic beers selection and nice atmosphere
S. P.
In many ways, De Hems is a good symbol of the diversity that saturated pre-Brexit London: a vaguely authentic (in my limited experience of Dutch life) Dutch-style café bar located in the middle of Chinatown.
It's actually a pretty chill place, you *can* get a pint for under a fiver which is no mean feat in central London. Downstairs is dark and pretty loud, I'd recommend heading upstairs (which a lot of people seem to miss) for a more pub-style atmosphere.
Usually has room if you're looking for a place for a post-work pint and everywhere else is rammo.
M. M.
'Dear Leon, our congratulations for your honesty!
We never thought that you would keep until the middle of June
our newly bought Beats Headphones that we left behind in De Hems bar on the 29th of April.
On that day we enjoyed your great beers and we felt so welcome and relax that we forgot to bring with us the bag with the Beats Headphones.
It is really amazing that after all this time you presented us with the Headphones that we thought we had lost for good!
Many, many thanks to you and all the members of staff at the De Hems for your wonderful welcome, great service and honesty!
Best whises
Marzia
P.
Great selection of dutch, german and belgian beers. Two things really put me off when l go here though, the awkward mish-mash of high tables and chairs means you're always standing, even when its not that busy. When it is, you're herded like sheep outside by bouncers (why?). Could be sooo much better.
F. G.
Always a nice pub with very interesting selection. Pity lately it's not so crowded i guess due to its location next to Chinatown
J. H.
Great pub. Check out the upstairs bar - apparently it was used by the Dutch resistance. Oyster shell walls are amazing. Love the Dutch nibbles they have.
J. V.
Large selection of Dutch beers on tap.
The bitterballen are home made and taste differently from the ones you would typically find in the Netherlands.
M. “. O. K.
Haven't been here for a while, it was a regular haunt 'back in the day'. Not a huge amount has changed, staff are still friendlier than most. The drinks are wet and cold and the food is pretty good value for money, given the location. Worth popping into if you are around China Town
S. D.
Hooray for the Dutch pub, the place that I go to after The Imperial has shut because it carries on serving till 12. It sells lots Dutchish beers like Amstel and Lindeboom, it also has an extensive selection of fruit beers for the ladies, my main problem is where to go when the Dutch pub shuts..
A. B.
One of my favourite places to grab a drink, this bar has an amazing location and an even more amazing selection of beers I really recommend trying out different ones , you'll be surprised
M. S.
Great selection of beers from the Continent, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Can get a little busy, but we'll worth a visit.
T. C.
Wooden panelling helps soothe away the pain of paying £7.50 for 2/3rds of a pint. As does the 7.2% ABV speciality ale you accidentally ordered because you can't pronounce any of the names. 5/5.
M. S.
Decent pub with a great selection of beers
L.
Fantastic Dutch pub. Good choice of beers, Dutch and international. Usually shows Dutch international football games, serves bitterballen, and employs Dutch staff. Fantastic little taste of home.
f. s.
As a Dutchman in London one of the few places to go to for Dutch snacks. Call me biased but I'm sold. Also a great selection of Belgian beers.
N. R.
Great selection of beers, there are so many it requires a couple of visits to get to grips with the selection!
Nice central location as well, have a few beers and then China town is around the corner.
R. D.
This is the best pub in london. Great beer, great location and always a fun atmosphere. This is my local, even though I live in zone 5/4
M. C.
Nice European beers, pricey but I guess they're Soho's pricing. The place itself is pretty good nothing special if for the historical value of it. A central London insitution.
R. N.
Nice pub. Struggle to ever get great service here, but that's cental London for you. It's a Dutch pub with many Belgian beers. But also does Dutch food.
A. M.
Excellent selection of beers. Always friendly. Staff here are excellent too... very professional. Particularly fun on Kings Day.
J. T.
Brilliant selection of unusual Beers with a chilled atmosphere
J. B.
Love this pub - fantastic service, knowledgeable on beer options, airy space with major sports on the TV - simple and effective. My Belgian beer and EPL / F1 home in London
T. L.
Very happy with the food here. Good quality, staff were fast and attentive. Very impressed, beer was also sublime!
I. C.
A great bar. Been going since the 80s. Good beers and food. Pleasant staff always on hand. Has a great history too.
M. R.
Best place for fruit beers!!!
T. C.
The famous De Hems. Been going here off and on for 20+ years and actually heard someone speaking Dutch this year for the first time! Great selection of European beers.
B. E.
Not too loud but a nice buzz, and am excellent selection of drinks. Would have preferred it if their tables were better situated for conversation, but this is a minor thing.
S.
Classic pub and in the heart of soho. Great range of beers on tap and can't go wrong for a pre-show beverage.
G. P.
Nice variety if ales and beers, had an interesting and large cocktail list as well. Very central, friendly staff and cozy and large pub.
L. K.
Some of the best food I've had in London! Great service, super friendly and incredibly good value for money!
J. B.
Great selection of beers and nice pub. Only downside is the two flights of stairs between upstairs where the majority of space is and the toilets.
L. L.
Good place to hang out and ha e authentic Belgian and Dutch Beer. Staff are really friendly and serve with a smile.
M. J.
Great location next to China town and really excellent selection of beers. Can be a little pricey but then you're in central London...
L. A. T. A.
Great place, but music is too loud to talk to anyone
J.
Unusual beers on tap. Busy during peak times. More room available upstairs. Worth a visit for beer or two.
A. C.
Fun night out. Good drinks and food menu. Just completely avoid the nachos: tortilla chips served with mayo and sriracha (!?).
K. S.
Been coming to this pub since '97 and it has always been a favourite.
Wide range of beers and some excellent Dutch food available.
C. P.
Great atmosphere and incredible beer selection!
K. K.
Unfortunately they didn't know what a 'bittergarnituur' was. Maybe as Dutchies we expected too much of the Dutch experience. Drinks were good though!
J. M.
Awesome place. Great atmosphere, great staff and amazing beers. Would definitely recommend going to this bar when in the west end.
i. b.
Great beer, good snacks, nice atmosphere , good service, beer not cheap but for quality Belgian beer it's ok
S. J. B.
Great pub good choices of beers. Recommend bitterballen if you fancy a snack it yummy.
T. C.
One of my favourite pubs in central London! Seating area upstairs is brighter and quieter than downstairs too.
N. S.
Great on a Sunday... especially upstairs. It was quite and air-conditioned!
S. W.
The place is full of character, the choice of beer is amazing and the strawberry-blonde bartender with the thick Dutch accent made it feel even more authentic 🙊
B. M.
Really great pub but mighty expensive.
R. P.
Best Heineken in London!!! Imported. Sweet and smooth as it should be comparing with yellow water they brewing in Northampton.
T. J.
Just awesome! Great selection of beers, and their vegan beyond burger is out of this world! Great vibe and great service!
S. D.
Impressed with the variety of Dutch beers available here. If you like beers and you're after a different taste De Hems is your place.
A. H.
it's a small place but you will have a good mood there , they Will make you go indoor after 11 pm .
The staff are friendly and they are helpful.
if you are over thirty you will be happy there.
i loved the place really
M. S.
Fantastic bar with lots of Dutch and Belgian beer choices, I'll definitely be back again 🍻
A. S.
We love de hems! Such great sevice! Big shout out to Amy for going the extra mile to make sure our nights at the hems was always pleasant! We will be back for sure!
M. M.
Normally I walk past this pub and it is absolutely heaving, but popped in on a Tuesday evening and got a table. Tried one of the Dutch pilsners which was great and it wasn't overpriced either.
C. F.
Good pub
J. L.
Nice enough pub, good selection of beer. Quite expensive but expected for a central London pub
M. S.
On Friday nights it's crowded and insanely loud. At other times it's a much more civilized experience. I'm not usually a lager drinker but the ones here are pretty good.
M. B.
A great bar with a wide selection of beer and good food, but can get v busy.
M. v. d. M.
Decent collection of Dutch lagers, and they have a good collection of Dutch snackfood on offer. The food is pricey though. The staff doesn't speak Dutch though, which is odd.
M. K.
Music too loud to talk at a social occasion. Otherwise, good beer selection. Sports TV downstairs, room/bar for private hire upstairs.
P. K.
An oasis on the edge of China Town. Great Dutch themed food and two pages of bottled and draught beers.
C. S.
Expensive, but good beer to back it up. Staff know what they're doing too which is great!
A. V.
The only dutch place in London. Nice dutch and Belgian beers. The blonde guy barman is a rude. They should get rid of him.
Z. M.
Friendly staff. Not super packed considering it's location. Amazing selection of beers.
D. D.
Great place to catch up with friends, nice and central if you live in London. Good selection of beers!
B. T.
As Dutchman I really like all the special beers they have. It feels like coming home in a bath of alcoholic goodness.
D. K.
Great beer choice! The best place in the city to have a cold pint of Leffe.
R. S.
I make a point of visiting this bar whenever I'm in London, fantastic selection of beers and generally a nice place to consume beer.
C. H.
Lovely little place with a friendly, cosy atmosphere (can get packed). Great selection of beers for pre-China-Town meal.
D. T.
Busy Dutch pub in Chinatown, decent selection of Dutch n belgian beers ++. Worth a visit if you're thirsty
E. S.
Great beer, great service, great nachos.
D. N.
Decent selection of beers from Holland and Belgium. Wasn't too crowded for a Friday night given the location.
b. f.
