Reviews of Doggett'S Coat And Badge
a. b.
So my first Christmas in London with my new employer and what better i can expect.
The restaurant is located at the very heart of the London, walking distance from Blackfairs underground station.
I would suggest if you have time walk on the bridge, you have nice little spots to sit and enjoy the scenic view as well.
The restaurant offers a great view of Thames river, The shard and some other attraction as well.
The food is great with nice drinks.
Must try restaurant in London.

We were 6 people and they gave us the best table with the most amazing view of the river. Great drinks, fantastic food and the best service from both Charleigh and Viorella, who very patiently attended to our every need. And unlike some places, they did not hover over us, rushing us along. They made us feel like welcome guests. So I hope they get a free meal as a result of my review. Dear Doggetts, you should be giving free meals to your lovely staff anyway.

Went for work Christmas night out, food was really nice and staff member serving us was very charming.
Also beautiful view from the 2nd floor.

❤️ Dogget’s Coat and Badge is an architecturally unique pub with great views across the River Thames.
.
I visited here to watch the England v Germany game and was lucky enough to get a table. My other half and I were met at the door to check in and we were shown to our table by a really nice member of staff. We sat in the covered area of the beer garden which had a great view of one of the many large screen TV’s dotted around the pub. We were starving, so we ordered some food with our drinks and went for 5 plates of bar snacks for £24. The food was really tasty and filled us up in preparation for an evening on the beer watching the game. The atmosphere was great throughout the game and was made more memorable with a win over the Germans. Even though I was wrapped up watching the footy, I couldn’t help but notice how amazing the service was here. The guys here were absolutely all over it, working under immense pressure going from table to table making sure everyone was served.
.
When I look at this pub, it’s very difficult what to make of the buildings brutalist architecture, but the longer look at it the more like it. I must admit, prior to coming here I had envisaged an over priced tourist trap due to its location, but what I actually found was a really great pub with excellent service, serving decent beer and food.

A very nice and relaxing place to go. Right in front of the Thames, enjoy the beautiful view with some nice drinks and food. Everything is spotless, well looked after, and there is this waiter, which I don't know his name, but is a guy with curly hair; this guy is so nice, friendly, attentive and made me feel very welcome, love it!. You can order from the bar, with the lovely waiter or scanning a barcode wich is on your table. Cheers! 🍷🍸🍹🍺🍻

An extremely pleasant pub with a more-than-average sized, fully covered beer garden at the back.
Whilst the interiors offer the best of British pub cosyness, the beer garden features shared tables and benches in a more relaxed, hipstery environment.
Food is very, very good. Burger was cooked to perfection and french fries were amongst the best I ever had in my life.
Service is friendly and relaxed.
Would definitely recommend it and would obviously would return if around the area.

Great pub on the Southbank. Good selection of beer and the food was top notch. Easy order at table with the app. We had the toad in the hole which was lovely. Staff were very nice too
H. S.
Good pie x2 and large wine x2 under £40 in the heart of London.
A. W.
Always a pleasure to stop off here and enjoy a pint with views of the river. It's a large yet cosy pub with a garden in the summer and several floors with lots of windows. Nice, friendly staff and good clean lines.
D. B.
Great service from charlie.. we came for breakfast today and she was welcoming, friendly always had a smile. The breakfast was delicious, filled me up. Will look forward to coming again

(Was only able to write this now, as been busy and i cant remember the waitress name.)
On a Saturday night me, my husband and my friend decided to get some dinner and saw Doggett's so we chose to eat there and we went to the dining room and we were welcomed by a lovely smile. We could see it was super busy as the lovely waitress was none stop running around but it didn't stop her from having a conversation with us and always had a smile. She knew how to upsell well and gave us good recommendations on what to eat. She was lovely and we look forward coming back.

Nicely positioned near train station with table area near Thames.
Friendly staff. Good seating areas inside too and ordering can be done by app. Snack deals available as well as meals.
A. F.
Good pub, with really good atmosphere. Reasonably priced drinks, quick and friendly service.
Z. C.
Absolutely love this place! Attend this pub at least once a month for a networking event - staff are always super helpful and up for a laugh!
Fantastic service and great food too!
A. J.
Hired the private room overlooking Blackfriars Bridge and the Thames for an old boys evening. Magnificent view! Bar staff were very good as was the food. Would definately recommend this as a venue. Also very close to Waterloo Station.
R. E.
Came for a drink with my wife, nice location on the river but got the impression the bar staff really didn’t want to be here
J. B.
I ate here twice during my vacation to London. It's position in proximity is perfect and offers nice views of the Thames. The food portions were generous and the taste was quite good. The beer was just okay as I felt it lacked a bit of flavour. The service was above average both times that I came.
T. G.
Very efficient staff behind bar & food service.
Food was excellent had 5 bar snacks for £25.
Alcohol was a bit expensive but didn’t stop me enjoying this establishment.
A. L.
Thank you to all the staff at Doggetts last night who were brilliant. Our son Ed had his 30th celebration at this fantastic venue. Great food, great bar staff, thank you to Max and to the manager for being so patient when we left far later than we should. We will definately be coming back. Also this pub must have one of the very best views in London. Thank you so much.
M. C.
Always love this place in our summer visits to London. More lively with Christmas parties. Staff were lovely fitted us in with all the Christmas bookings despite our being early. Food very good
G. B.
Hired out the top floor for a corporate belated Christmas party. The mix of great bar staff, spacious dance floor and terrace outside made for a magicsl night I can almost remember 1/2 of.
P. M.
It was a pretty standard chain pub in a slightly unusual building owing to being right by the river. The pub food we had was mostly deep fried and went fine with the beer. Good for a post work pint if you are nearby.
R. H.
Beautiful pub with beautiful food. This Winsome 3 story pub is situated right by the riverside towards Southbank providing great views of the river.
I took my parents here and the loved the relaxed atmosphere, we stumbled in during an F1 game so the pub was pretty busy which added to the jaunty mood.
The food was splendid, we had a nut roast and chargrilled chicken both of which were great quality and seemingly fresh. The nut roast was especially flavoursome.
Although the food was great and we loved the cheery atmosphere they were only serving about half of the things on the food menu. Perhaps Sundays are extremely busy however I felt that this should of been better organised as we couldn't enjoy our first orders and this was our first visit to this pub. However admittedly the food we got was still superb!
K. C.
This is a lovely clean and typically English pub, located by Blackfriers Bridge in central London. I discovered this place whilst walking along the side of the Thames River. I personally had a berry cider and two cups of mulled wine (the only pub that I saw with mulled wine in October). Both the cider and mulled wine were high quality. The only negative thing I have to mention is the steps, not their fault but it would cause an issue for anyone using a wheelchair. I would visit here again if I were in the area.
F. ‘.
Second time there. Good food, great location and views….But the service was what makes the place.. Vio our waitress shared the full allergens list with one of our group, which was incredibly useful for the group. Charleigh, her colleague read the table perfectly and made sure we ordered the best desserts on the menu.
L. H.
I had a lovely time, The staff and pleasant and accommodating. The place is calm and peaceful too
J. H.
Lovely pint of mortimers orchard English Berry, great view of the Thames, lovely food and the staff are very friendly
A. D.
Great pub, facilitated our IT networking event very well. The function room was more than capable. The food provided was good and nourishing, the large variety of drinks available was also good. The location and ease of finding it also contributed. I’d certainly book it if I needed a place to do a similar event.
C. L.
In a typical rainy day in London, I wanted to get out of the train and have a traditional British Sunday lunch. I found this British pub/ restaurant. It served hot traditional British food like fish and chips and stake with roast potatoes. Wonderful experience that made me feel as if our traditions are still alive and kicking. A must for tourist who want to get a taste of London. I was to hungry to snap some pictures of my meal, but I'll be sure to go again and take some pictures of my meal and the inside of the owner doesn't mind as it helps tourist to decide if it's worth coming before they make an informed choice. Well done and keep up the tradition as the tourist come to London to see how the British live 🏆
D. K.
Reasonable for a modern pub but you don't deserve a cask marque just for serving cask ales (of which there are a good selection). You have to keep them and serve them well. Casks are not kegs. You can't just connect them to your gas line and get some half wit to flick a lever on the bar. However the staff were very pleasant and efficient
B. M.
Chareigh is an amazing front of house member of staff, really made my day. Her charm and smile made me feel so welcome and I ended up staying at the fantastic bar much longer due to the friendly atmosphere. She needs to be promoted as her talent will be snapped up elsewhere if her value is not noted.
D. T.
A great pub, right next to the river. Opens early (9.00 am) for a bit of breakfast. Staff are always lovely and welcoming. The beer is good and today even the sun is shining! The pub itself is named after what is claimed "the world's oldest boat race" one up on both Oxford and Cambridge:-). The place is certainly worth a visit.
G. P.
Service downstairs, friendly, but just at the bar. Even when there are more than 5 people behind the bar at the same time. Prices are not on the drinks menu. We got a very dirty glass and the table was not clean. Dirty toilet downstairs. They made it up with serving quick delicious food. Price of the food, quality and quantity is good.
N. M.
Loved it food was great staff friendly. Food great value and very tasty. Children accommodated for no problem. Outside seating area also. Upstairs dining area with good views over the river.
M. C.
I did not actually had an alcoholic drink here but their hot chocolate on a cold winter's day was very tasty.
L. B.
Was taken by a friend for early dinner , the place is very nice, nice view to the river Thames , nice location.
The food portions are not that big not that small, the prices not that cheap.
The quality of the food is good, the waitress was nice and polite.
J. T.
Proper British Pub with excellent pub grub, a little wait for the good but then again it was chucking it down so the pub was pretty busy.
Pictures of the steak sandwich, pulled pork chops and garlic bread, all yummy.
H. G.
Lovely pub on the river. Staff are really friendly. The cauliflower kale and cheddar burger is delicious! Would definitely recommend for a chilled out pub lunch/dinner.
R. A.
Nice pub on the river with an unusual number of floors

I would highly recommend to anyone considering hiring the Doggett’s, Coat & Badge for an event to go ahead and book. I couldn’t thank all the staff at the venue enough, everything went so smoothly from the booking stage, planning the event and all the bar staff on the day. I contacted the general manager Chris in early March 2021 to plan for my engagement party in July 2021. Although Chris and his team were still on furlough, I had prompt email responses from him, transparency on pricing and the breakdown of the deposit, minimum spend as well as information on catering options and drinks packages. Throughout the months leading up, Chris was more than helpful with answering my many questions, and I felt confident that the event was in more than capable hands. I had booked the top floor room with the terrace which has its own bar, toilets and lift (great for people who would struggle with the stairs) and even though the weather wasn’t sunny for the whole evening, we comfortably fit 80-90 guests inside, and as soon as the showers stopped the terrace was a huge bonus with amazing views over the Thames with St Paul’s Cathedral and the City of London in the background. Once again, I can’t recommend the team and venue enough for hosting my event and I will definitely be booking the venue again in the future!

Always loved this pub. Its been a few years since I was last there but it was great to be back. Not as welcoming as it was but still the best in the area.
T.
It's in the perfect location overlooking the river. There was a good atmosphere and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was also quite nice.
K. S.
Nice bar with tasty food.
V. K.
Highly recommend this cute pub. The places has fantastic views on Thames, tasty food and great friendly service. Highly recommend to try their pies.

Review on behalf of GIN & Bombay Tonic group, London
GIN had our 3 Year Birthday party at the Thomas Doggett bar on Saturday 25th September with around 100 people attending.
The space is fantastic with direct views over the River Thames. The music and sound system is great too and we had our own DJ.
The event manager, Justyna, hosted us and we all had a lovely and fun evening of celebration with our huge cake and plenty of Processco.
The bar prices were all reasonable for central London too.
J. B. H.
Great location on South Bank of the Thames. Popped in for a quick pint on our wanders and sat outside but the inside is massive with around 4 separate floors :O Was buzzing in the sunshine that day and sees a large amount of footfall past it's doors as people shuffle under the bridge and along the South Bank. Handy location
K. C.
Fantastic central venue with plenty of old London charm to it - ideal for an evening drink (or two).
I attended a private event on the upper floor which has a spectacular terrace boasting views across the Thames and London. Well-worth lapping up the gorgeous scenery, especially at sunset. Staff were all very polite and accommodating and prices reasonable considering location!
P. S.
Good pub with good selection of lager and ales. Good selection of sharing platers.
s. j.
The calm and quiet ambience, beautiful view of Thames from Window and cheerful people to serve yummy food, what else do you need to make it a sweet memory with your loved one?
S. R.
Good place to have some local meal and drinks. Local cider is really good as well as home wine. Fish pie is delicious.
S. U.
Pride was off and the Doombar we had was not in particularly good shape. Nice pub and atmosphere. Been before and would visit again.
M. W.
Favourite pub with outdoor space! While restrictions are in place this is the one you want to try! Lovely staff service although on the Sunday when my friends and I went, they seemed to be swept off their feet with the number of people! The food is great, really advise going for their Sunday roast choice if available. Overall great atmosphere for both friends and family and garden space has covering which is super convenient and most importantly HEATERS!!! Overall great experience for a pub!
R. S.
Love Afternoon. Staff always friendly and helpful. Beer just a bit expensive but you are in City/West End. And outlook you can't beat it.
P. N.
Views from the top floor are amazing. You can book it for private parties. The stuff were perfect and the beer very good.
H. D.
The food is average pub and it took the waiters a long time to clear our table after finishing. Better for nice drinks by the river
D. A.
Very nice indeed..pies n mash fish n chips old fashion nice fresh food and a fab place to sit and njoy your meal drink or gossip..
T. M.
Food was great and service was quick even though it was busy. The ladies toilet had run out of toilet paper and the hand dryer didn't work which was not great but thankfully I had tissues with me.
J. N.
Went there to have a beer and fish and chips.
Quality of food was OK. Time of delivery also.
Pricewise, the place is more expensive than other pubs, but one pays for the location.
Waitress was Elena. She was very good : Service was very genuinely friendly and she came to check if everything was fine.
T.
Nice pub overlooking the Thames. Good for tourists who want a drink and a view and its also close to the underground station, Blackfriars through which runs the Circle and District line along with Thameslink trains. Win win.
A. M.
Nice enough pub overlooking the River Thames with outdoor seating. Had just popped in for a g&t but the barman had never heard of Gordon's or Beefeater gin! Nice alternative but not cheap. May visit again as I like the location.
R. S.
What a lovely friendly pub. Freddie is a legend. I highly recommend! ❤️
S. G.
There for a staff party in one of their function rooms. All good. Staff friendly and led to a great night out.
P. H.
Venue situated on the Thames, so great views. Very busy, but staff were quick & efficient, food was good. Good selection of gins! Enjoyed this!
J. J.
Views are great over the Thames, drinks very good and great selection, friendly service too.
D. B.
Great location and nice views. 4 levels inside and a pleasant pub design (lots of dark, polished wood & touches of gold). Large drinks selection and many events hosted here.
m. h.
Very friendly staff.great food .nice outside heated garden area .well presented drinks.
Drinks a bit on the steep side 5.50 for a cider and 9.00 for a double vodka and coke .but you are at a prime spot by the Thames and we are from up north where we can get 5he same drinks for 6.40.!
A. J.
I had a nice evening with friend. Food was superb and we were served very quickly. All stuff very polite. I would be happy to go there again. Very nice location by the Thames.
G. K.
Stopped by for breakfast, I had the avocado boost muffin which was lovely. The service from Maya and Andy was outstanding I'll be coming back!
P.
£16 for 2 drinks thought a bit over priced, but again you are in Central London other than that it was a nice friendly pub with gd vibes
S. P. G.
In this pub you can live an unbelievable experience. One of the best sunsets with a great meal and some drinks. Typical English food and also other kinds of food. If you are looking for a good restaurant for lunch of dinner and you want also with good views, this is the place.
A. P.
Stopped by here for a quick drink and a bite to eat for lunch. We didn't book, but the host Mya managed to squeeze myself and my partner in for a table with some lovely Riverside views. The food was lovely and drinks were prompt. We were served by Mya and a young gentleman who were both helpful and attentive. Would gladly visit again!
R. A.
Fantastic pub with good ambience and in a great location with nice views of Thames and Bankside.
M. B.
Lovely location by the Thames river , interesting conversation and good food. I wouldn't mind going back.
K. P.
Good meal and drinks served in great environment as well as tv sports on offer.
K.
A great place! If you get a seat at the window, you'll get a wonderful view of the river Themse and the Skyline. The food was very delicious and they have a great selection of beer and cider.
L. F.
Service was really good, but the food was disappointing. It had no flavour at all and I love having a steak pie in a pub. Unless the food improves, I'd recommend going to the pub for a drink and to enjoy the view.
S. M.
Went here for a workshop/seminar. Really nice place that feel really "british". Also great wiev from the 2nd floor.
d. s.
After walking around trying to find somewhere for lunch, we came in. Our lunches were absolutely amazing,
d. w.
Staff very helpful and attentive. Lamb hotpot came very hot and hubby thoroughly enjoyed. Excellent service. Thank you.
T. C.
Love this pub, has a great feel to it! You won't beet the choice of drinks here there is so many taps to chose from, and the food is equally matched, a real gem of a pub!!! ❤️
N. M.
GIVE FREDDIE A PAY RISE....NO SERIOUSLY GIVE HIM ONE!!!! (and let him drink with us)....*cue grown up review* pub had great facilities, staff were amazing (shout out to the aforementioned Freddie) but all the bar staff were attentive and very welcoming and, had lots of outdoor Covered space.
J. F.
Nice and buzzing and well located.
T. B.
Ok, good fish and chips , but expensive...
S. L.
Outside seating space was nice and the pints were fine (albeit at usual inflated prices for the area). What I didn’t appreciate was the additional 10% service charge which was added to our bill (for two pints, no food) which wasn’t mentioned until AFTER we’d already tapped the machine to pay. Little bit sneaky.
A. S.
Traditional pub great if you love the idea of spending on average £6 on a drink. The average meal will also set you back £15 on average. The food does look tasty though. It has an app but it's table service only. The outside is spacious and like the center Court of Wimbledon it has roof that can come over. There are plenty of massive tvs for the football. No music though if dancing is your thing. I've got to say I'm more of a spoons type, cheap and cheerful. Thankfully it's very close to blackfriars Station so good transport links. Would I go back. Probably not.
M. G.
A big, fairly busy pub, notable for its striking Thames-side brutalist building and impressive riverside views. We used the second floor function from for an event. The staff were helpful and professional, the sharing plates were very good and all of the ales were in excellent condition.
J. Z.
Great Gin selection😍
Definately The Place for a drink next to the river!
Extremely friendly Team 😊
S. M.
Great location and one of the best breakfasts ever 😋👍
F. P.
A brilliant pub nicely located next to Thames. Perfect service at the bar, prices are normal, they serve a wide range of Ales and Lagers, food is tasty and the atmosphere is warm and cosy. One of the best pubs in London! #probeergourmet
R. I.
Lovely old style pub with river views, excellent selection of different British pub foods. Attentive service. Definately recommended
P. M.
Great spot for a beer and to enjoy the London views.
J. H.
What a great pub. Amazing service from the team, how they can work so hard and friendly with those masks on and with the way some customers behaved is outstanding. Great food and really good beer.
We will definitely be back.
D. G.
Rather tired and shabby - doesn't seem to have had much spent on keeping it looking nice in the last ten years!
J. B.
Great space to host events on the top floor over looking the Thames. Friendly, helpful staff. Good selection of food and drink.
S. S.
As a vegetarian, the vegetarian burger was amazing. The location is key with a gorgeous riverside view. The Belgian chocolate brownie desert was also really good. I didn't try anything else , but this is a good option with reasonable prices.
N. T.
A real English pub. Food is nice 😊. Right on the river so it's great for some food and drinks after a walk along the Thames. It also has an outdoor area with a large screen TV for sport.
C.
Good pub with lots of history. Modern looking but worth a visit
R. J.
Lovely place, it's much bigger than it looks and lots of cosy nooks. Service is always great!
N. M.
Nice pub with amazing views front and rear. Not a huge amount of atmosphere but nice enough watering hole if your passing. Worth a visit.
2. C. D.
Good service and good food. Possably the most drafty beer garden on the Thames. And I've been in most of them !
D. P. L.
Lovely place, reasonably priced and polite friendly staff.
We nipped in for a drink during a walk down the Southbank heading for Borough Market.
S. M.
The view from inside was very good, however the service was not great due to the crowd.
J. E.
Despite the potentially very touristy location, great pub for a beer or decent pub grub. Incredible views from the top floor function room. Friendly and helpful staff.
T. F.
Spent an early Sunday morning in the restaurant's outdoor area enjoying Egg Benedict while people watching next to the river Thames. If you are familiar with the Blackfriars Bridge area, you won't miss this place.
B. S.
The most stable pub/bar near central on the Thames. When you’re lost for direction, old Doggett has your back!!! It’s not pretty but it’s functional! Riverside tables are great for people watching.
W. B. I.
Not too bad. Service could have been a little better but overall definitely a nice little place on the river to grab a pint and some food.
D. C.
Been here many times over many years and always find the bar full and lovely - but the staff turn over drinks so quickly (and with a smile)! It’s a pleasure coming here and sitting on the bustling south bank.
C.
It's OK, not too busy but difficult to get served as not a lot of staff available while we were there
K. K.
Good for a drink, not food. Great spot for outdoor space - has covered, heated terrace out back, with view of Thames in front
Food has little flavor but does the job (3 stars), location and service is 4/5 stars. Ordered the steak pie, the pie reminded me of a Greg's pasty bought on a boozy night before, it was stale and the flavor was solidly mediocre. Bar snacks (including calamari) were much better for some reason. Good place to drop by for a drink, especially due to the outside terrace which is covered and heated
K. F.
Had a really lovely evening here last Friday. The staff were so friendly & our waitress Justyna couldn't do enough for us. The place has great views across the Thames & an extensive food & drink menu. Had a main meal, which tasted great & excellent value for money.
Would definitely recommend a visit. I hope to return soon!

Best ever place to enjoy a great and quiet lunch. Nice view over the river Thames and the highest standard in hospitality.
Very much recommended!
G. D.
Nice and very pleasent place. Excellent fish and chips! Beer was also great. The view on Themsa was amazing!
Recomended place!
A. S.
Had a great meal here with colleagues. Front of House Charlie was a fantastic ambassador and ensured our order was accurate and delivered on time.
J. D.
Bit of a gloomy pub on the inside, but there's some outside seating round the back and on the waterfront. Bookings seem to be a bit haphazard, but we got a walk in table quite quickly.
Awful ordering via the Nicholson's app, one of the worst I've seen for a while.
J. C.
Nice view of the river, not too busy, plenty of seats downstairs, and a decently sized beer garden.
S. F.
I enjoyed a couple of pints of well kept IPA in this riverside pub with atmosphere.
m. c.
Great range of beer but expensive because of the location. Great views across the Thames.
K. B.
Nice place to stop for a drink, my partner didn't rate his burger though. :)
s. s.
Had a really good afternoon watching rugby. Stayed on to eat in the dining room. Beautiful food and VERY GOOD service. Hope to return again 😀
A. M.
Great little pub, great beer with friendly and welcoming staff. Definitely worth popping in for a pint
m. d. m.
Very nice Pub with cool Staff and Excellent food.
P. H.
1st visit to this pub, lovely friendly staff and service
M. B.
Look- it's a little pub on the corner of the Tate modern. It does its job. You can sit by the Thames!
M. M.
Great position on river
Staff friendly , food and drinks great
J. L.
Food is super with staff service top level. Had grilled salmon and potate pea soup. Even the cuppacino is unique.
A. H.
Lovely masculine style pub in the river. Expect suits galore, good food and a nice vibe with great views.
A. E.
Great food,Great pub, right on the Thames
M. S.
They found 2 tables outside for my post exam group. Accommodating. We all had fun. My burger was tasty.
Good service

Good beer and food great views of the river
B. J.
One of oldest pubs in London on the Thames food great 👍
S. S.
We had a great evening last night thanks to Charleigh and Viorella looking after us so well. Thank you.
M. K.
Great staff. Great beer. Not just the usual craft beers which i do not like, but decent choice of main stream lagers as well.
Bbq glazed chicken and fully loaded chips are perfect with a cold pint.
Excellent location right in the river.
Went 3 times in the week i was in London.
G. P.
Brilliant place to drink.
A. P.
Had a fantastic afternoon yesterday watching England! Social distancing and all Covid protocol's professionally done! Chris and his team done an amazing job! Will definitely come back soon!
N. B.
Place and ambience is very good. Food is ok. Not having much variety.
N. E.
Came here for beer, stayed for Fish Platter and ambient. Just perfect. This will be our regular place to visit!
E. W.
Thank you to the very festive bartender upstairs who made our St Patrick’s Day shots much more fun to take 🍀
p. k.
Great place to pop in for a drink or food pleasant atmosphere polite staff
D. E.
First time here because it had always seemed too touristy but actually very pleasant. Good beer and good service.
R. S.
Good food and service. Generally you need to order using an app but the staff will help those who aren't quite so up to speed with technology, which we thought was a great idea!
P. H.
Love this place
Staff all friendly, and always a great atmosphere
J. M.
Freindly pub in great location with good selection of beer. Fish platter was tasty.

Just wanted to leave a review to say that this pub is doing an amazing job during the coronavirus situation. Having visited on a Friday night, we were stopped at the door, asked to sign in and sanitize our hands. We were taken to our table and informed that we would have table service. The staff on the back terrace were always looking out for us and were very easy to flag down for service. We witnessed the tables being thoroughly cleaned after customers had left. I felt very safe and would recommend coming here if you have concerns about drinking in London during coronavirus times.
N. B.
Take away beers for the win 👌🏼
P.s they have sky + BT
M. A.
Lovely pub, great food and service. Was delightful to shelter here for a couple of hours out of the torrential rain.
L. C.
A multi-tiered pub that provides spacious options for drinking and dining. A popular venue for watching sport and catching up with friends. It is well located with good views of the River Thames. Service is fine and prices typical for the area. There is a good selection of drinks. Especially for beer and ale drinkers. The weak point is common for pubs, which is the food. A very poor standard and no sense of fresh produce being used. The prices may be reasonable, but the standards are poor. If the menu could be revamped this would make it an excellent venue, but this is still a good place to visit.
A. O.
Great riverside pub. Lots of gin if that's what you like! Perfect views from the pub. Will come back again 😊
M. B.
A great location by the Thames with friendly and efficient staff. Always seems busy but you never have to wait long for your favourite tipple. Have visited a number of times and will definitely be visiting again.
B. S. B. (.
This pub has it all; meeting rooms, function rooms. Artistically spread over multiple floors, creating a welcoming ambience. Really enjoyed the service from Maya. She was polite and made our visit special 😃. This pub is unique and definitely recommended. Ask for Maya🍷🍸🍺
M. T.
Good breakfast. Nice view of the river
L. B.
Went for work a quiz night, the beers on tap are a good selection. Also good bar food catered for.
S. F.
Spacious bench type tables (11 of us pre booked) , staff very vigilant and safety conscious, situated on the Thames near underground station.
S. S. H.
Good customer service polite and friendly staff social distancing observed great views over the Thames best fish and chips I have eaten. The only gripe I had was when the manager said you've got 15 minutes to drink up leave this tone of voice was rude.😀😀😀😀😀
S. S.
fantastic pub by river side for great beer and view.
j. w.
Great food at good gives with amazing riverside views. Well located for Blackfriars station.
J. p.
Views over the Thames are great and there is outside seating. Both of us had fish which was very nice.
The pate starter and relish were lovely.
Both Francesca and Marta were lovely and extremely helpful. We had booked had a table by the window great view. Came on Saturday 24th August.
We will definitely be visiting again.
E. E.
As a tourist in London I felt this was the perfect place for a good fish and chips. My table enjoyed the classic mac and cheese, fish and chips of course, as well as the tomato and barley soup of the day. Everything was really tasty and we had a beautiful view of the river on the second floor. We ordered a few gin and tonics as well and I was happy with the choices the restaurant offered. The pricing was good considering and the service was friendly. The lower level is for the bar so there was some fun action going on when we arrived and certainly when we left. I would recommend you go.
A. R.
Excellent location beautifully placed on the the corner Blackfriars Bridge overlooking the Thames River like taking a cruise on the Thames.
R. M.
Not the most attractive of pubs, but excellent location and really good range of food and drink that is about par for Central London on price.
n. h.
Had breakfast there yesterday. Totally worth the money and the staff were lovely.
Definitely going to go back when in the area.
A. L.
Lovely pub. Good choice of wine, beer etc. Haven't eaten here but menu looked good, with a range of choice. Had a lovely outside seating area and is right by Blackfriars Station.
M.
Three of us visited this location because it's next to our hotel(it came recommended). The food was amazing and the service was great. Carolina was exceptional and eager to help and was also very passionate about making our experience as awesome as possible. The soft shell crab sandwich was amazing and this will definitely be a stop in the future the next time we visit London.
j. A.
A good range of beers and very friendly staff. A great location and a the garden is a nice place to head for a drink, and if you can get a seat by the riverfront, it's even nicer. It's relatively cheap, but it is very busy most of the time it seems, and often full of tourists too (it's in the middle of London near the Tate Modern, so you'd be mad to expect it to be otherwise). It's lost a bit of personality too over the years - it's sort of a generic but nice pub by the river now. There are better options around, but this place is a decent stop for a pint or two.
M. F.
Steak was very good, noise was a bit too loud, i was hesitant to revisit as my last visit this venue would have scored a 1star as after being seated nobody came to take our order and after 15minutes of a group of yobs laughing and taunting us on the table beside us we decided to leave, we did nto say goodbye to the staff that stared at us for this whole duration, my return visit would have scored 4 stars but I am combing the 2 experiences, this time staff were efficient, although my table was cleared by someone wearing a giant outdoor coat, i initially thought it was a homeless person wanting our food so we let them have it although my friend was still eating and asked to keep his, not sure why tables are cleared before those that are dining finish their meals, we later noticed this was a member of staff as they had removed the coat later in the evening (we were seated inside incase anyone reading thought there was a reason for the coat) the toilets were overcrowded at all times making it impossible to use them as it had a 2person capacity and waiting did not work as people were not following guidelines, I was then forced to use an overcrowded toilet with non mask wearing people breaching government guidelines, but like I said, steak was wonderful and drinks were cold although when they pour the drinks they should avoid touching near the rims of the glass, not just because of covid but in general.
N. H.
Great outdoor space, lovely food. Excellent for an after work wind-down.
K. S.
Really nice pub with great staff. Good views over the Thames. Prices in line with most pubs in Central London but popular with locals which is a pleasant change from some tourist trap places.
M. S.
Lovely food, nice beers, great service.
K. W.
Stopped for bar snacks and a pink gin on the way home from a boat trip. Alas no pink gin but the bar manager sorted us out with a lovely orange flavoured gin which was presented beautifully. When realising it was my birthday he gave us a discount on our drinks and a free sharing dessert along with our bar snacks which were all delicious. Exceptional service. We were made to feel really welcome. Highly recommend this bar 😊
N. G.
Nice pub but Christ it's expensive
A. M.
Always a firm favourite! Good selection of beer :)
B. S.
Lovely pint , nice staff.
R. B.
Had breakfast there one day, it was good. Went back another day, ordered, and then was told they weren't selling breakfast that day, and a new menu started later in the week. Nice people though, and the manager gave us free coffee for the trouble. I would give them another chance if still in London.
B. F.
The staff was really nice, but there was a kitchen fire and as a result we couldn't order food even though we reserved a large space. They offered us chips, but we couldn't order food in since they were prioritizing a larger party. Ultimately, we had to leave earlier than we would've liked to get food elsewhere.
s. M.
Great pub. Really good and friendly service. A great place to eat and drink.
D. P.
Lovely pub located on the rivers edge. Set over several floors it has stunning views over the river. I use this pub often when out walking the south bank. Good beers, and although I’ve never eaten here, the menu looks really good.
A. B.
Riverside pub, plenty of tables inside or out, good range of beers good food
J. L.
Food is super with staff service top level. Had grilled salmon and potate pea soup. Even the cuppacino is unique.
J. E.
Despite the potentially very touristy location, great pub for a beer or decent pub grub. Incredible views from the top floor function room. Friendly and helpful staff.
j. w.
Great food at good gives with amazing riverside views. Well located for Blackfriars station.
K. S.
Went with my partner lovely staff would defo come back next time I'm back in London 😊
G. D.
Nice and very pleasent place. Excellent fish and chips! Beer was also great. The view on Themsa was amazing!
Recomended place!
K. N.
English cuisine is an adventure :) Toad in the hole - only for brave adventurers.
B. J.
Great little place good food good drinks and excellent staff
J. C.
Nice view of the river, not too busy, plenty of seats downstairs, and a decently sized beer garden.
J. M.
Freindly pub in great location with good selection of beer. Fish platter was tasty.
J. S.
Came here at 2pm on a Saturday for lunch with 3 others. It was busy but we had booked a table. It took ages for them to ask us what drinks we wanted and to take our order. We got our food at 3pm which I think is too long to wait. My chips were cold but I was too hungry to complain. The food in all was quite nice but a bit pricey. We didn't stay for desert. I suppose you pay for the view of the river and the naked bike riders going by was a bonus 😂 I wouldn't rush back as I think they need more staff.
j. c.
They people went to in the doggetts coats try get some to eat lunch time was very quiet place
F. T.
Nice place for a drink - haven’t tried the food so can only review the drinks and ambience. I had a Christmas special real ale “Proper Cracker” which I would give 4 out of 5 for the drink itself. The only point that let it down was price, for a 4.3% session beer I wouldn’t expect to pay £5 or more. Overall the place is lively and has a good atmosphere with generally helpful and nice bar staff. It loses 2 stars quite easily on the pricing though, it’s tucked out of the way and could easily attract more customers with fairer pricing right across the board on all drinks, that said, within London it is in line with pricing elsewhere.
B. P.
Great food, drink & service
K. V. C.
Excellent kitchen and a professional service. Moderate prices. Exterior is not really inviting because of its dull façade, but inside it is beautifully decorated. Nice atmosphere with a view on the river Thames. Good beers. Good breakfast servings.
J. W.
Good selection of Gins, Ales and beers. Nice setting with terrace and river views.
J. C.
Went to a tech meetup in one of the function rooms upstairs, no complaints. had nice chips. Lot of suits drinking after work but not so much the loud braying spiv types so if you can roll with that it's not a bad place, nice view of the river, outdoor drinking in summer etc
J. S.
Nice atmosphere. Food wasn't great, but the pints were fine.
V. T.
Loving the outdoor space, felt very Covid safe :)
T. A.
Went for a meeting so do not know about the pub. I have always seen this building on my way to work. Has a very fine location by the river and not far from the bus stop. Its also very well identifiable. It's a 2 story building and has kept it's features for years. On the inside, it has very well polished wooden flooring and well kept toilets.
K. B.
Dale have impeccable service and we were incredibly grateful to him for a great afternoon spent with my partner’s mother overlooking the Thames.
M. L. T.
Doggett's Coat and Arms is a lovely spacious pub and restaurant. The menu has great choice and the staff are friendly and helpful. We were served by Sebastian who couldn't have done enough to assist. We went back to our youth and had a fish finger sandwich with chips. It did not disappoint. It was our first visit but it won't be our last. For central London the price tag isn't too bad. There's a 10% service charge on the bill so be sure and factor that in.
D. B.
Really good dining experience. Excellent meals and good variety of ales. Staff courteous and attentive. Only negative point - the lowest level men's toilets were an absolute disgrace! Somebody from the establishment should look in on a regular basis to check.
A. B.
One of the most amazing rump steaks I've ever had. Great view over the Thames. Perfect in any weather. Prices are affordable for it's location!
Too bad I lack a photo because I was too busy to enjoy the dinner and the view.
D. A.
Great chill vibe, food is great too
A. M.
Food was good outdoor seating was nice but cost very expensive and adding on service charge £ 16 was a bit cheeky hence only 3 stars for this reason
P. W.
Great evening out with fantastic atmosphere & service
G. T.
Came here with my husband and the waitress charleigh was lovely however the fries were cold but she got fresh chips quick so would recommend her as a great foh. Has skills of being friendly, welcoming we love her. From our bad expierence of cold fries she made us feel we had a great london experience
C. F.
It's been a lovely venue for after-parties up until last weekend. A bit of a shame but despite the promoter having the venue booked to midnight for a music event, the staff demanded the music stopped at 11pm. We ended up losing 1/6 of the party 😠
Otherwise a great venue, and not had this problem before.
E. S.
Pleasant pub on the south bank next to Blackfriars Bridge. From where we sat a excellent view of the Thames. They were busy in the food area, which I took as a good sign. Service was not rushed. Food was good for the price.
P. M.
Great food, watched the football good set up and heat lamps if you're seated outside
L. R.
Good pub. Spacious, outside space at the back, view if the Thames from the front. Interesting range of gin. Scampi and chips faultless. Service at the bar quite slow. Overall very recommended
J. D.
Lovely terrace on third floor with great view across the Thames. Lovely barbecue held here with comfy chairs to sit and enjoy the sunshine. Friendly, efficient staff, and oh yes, the beer was good too!
F. D. P.
Tasty food , good service just shame about the mens toilets
W. T.
Lovely pub! Lovely food.. i enjoyed my steak and ale pie. The lady who served us charleigh was brilliant, she was friendly, nice to talk to and brilliant at upselling.
R. H.
Pleasant riverside pub if a bit overshadowed by the adjacent railway. Reasonable selection of real ale. Very good food and service in the upstairs dining room. All in all good experience.
S. R.
Didn't know they had a Roof Terrace (Private Room). Very Nice in the Summer.
T. D.
Have been here several times and just think the whole place is a wee bit soulless, especially in contrast to another Nicholson's bar - The Blackfriar - on the opposite side of the bridge, which is bursting with Victorian features.
This place does have a good outside space at the back and good views of the Thames from the front, but it lacks warmth and can feel a bit stuffy inside.
The Sunday roast is decent, the service okay and the beer menu pretty good but it just doesn't quite hit the spot.
J.
Interesting pub, the name of which derives from one of the world's oldest boat races.
As a Nicholson's pub the food is decent quality, and there's a good selection of beer. But in this location, you also get a lovely view of the Thames, as well as garden at the back, ideal for enjoying a pint on a warm summer evening.
g.
Beer and wine good and pub grub as starters fine, but main course, we had hunters chicken, took forever to arrive, and when I went to the bar to ask. when is it coming, they were a bit off handed. So we felt a bit put out. Hence ok only 3 stars. Lovely views over the Thames and london, though.
M. S.
Got the half chicken.
Was tasty however a bit dry.
My wife got the fish and chips she said they were amazing.
Staff were friendly and facilities were clean.
It was quite busy and the atmosphere was lively.
W. T.
Well organised for covid restrictions. Service good. Food good except for 3 pie main meal not value for money. As a bar snack cost was £5. As a main £15. So you pay £10 for the veg
K.
It was a good meal. My wifes mushroom steak pie was top notch. My chicken was average and my sons sausage and mash was a little better than average plus 1 beer. Total was 48 pounds. We were seated next to a crying infant which I do not blame the restaurant but took away from the experience.
t. m.
Slightly disappointed, once upon a time you could buy suet puddings at Doggett's Coat and Badge but no longer. However, sat by the window with the 3 people I love the most, with views over the Thames eating food that we all thoughts was reasonably good, being served by 2 lovely staff members. These two young ladies were very apologetic about the volume of noise from a vociferous group celebrating a leaving do and had no consideration for other diners.
A. G.
Very nice pub in front if the river thames. Ambience is good with lots of option for lovely Ale, beer, ciders. Food quality and quantity is also nice. There are enough room to sit on 1st floor. I highly recommend it.
D. A.
Beautiful pub with reach history. U can enjoy you and your family or friends over the perfectly cooked food in awesome outside area full of beautiful plants and trees, or u can seat by the windows and enjoy you all time in front of spectacular views on the river Thames.
S. w.
Came here to meet for lunch with a couple of friends. A decent selection of beers on tap and the food was fairly decent but not particularly special. The waiter kept bumping into my seat as well which was slightly annoying. Although she apologised she did seem to keep doing this. I would come back
K. P.
Found this pub while on buisness in london. Pubs on 4 floors with a terrace and seating by the river at Blackfriars.
Wide and another seated terrace on the roof .
varied selection of beers wines and spirits.
The food although not extensive selection is good quality and cooked and presented well.
Had Gloucester old spot sausages and mash while the boss had scampi both good sized portions .
Great place to go people watching .
A few steps down from the bridge and from the bar to the terrace which can be tricky when negotiating tourists on walking tours whilst carrying drinks .
A really nice place i will be returning again and again .
E. G.
A nice pub at the south side of the river with a big front window that let you enjoy the view. I had a tasty launch there. Fish and chips and green salad. They also have koparberg's strawberry and lime cider which is my favorite.
Their washroom, unfortunately, was not very clean as it was impossible not to notice the smell of urine in the air.
J. L.
Decent pub here. Plenty of space inside and out. Bar staff are all friendly. Never been here to eat other than for a fry up but that was really nice. Will definitely be back for another one.
A. C.
Lovely location and view, and the pub has several floors with seating if you would like to enjoy a quiet meal with the family, it can also accommodate large groups. I've been here on several occasions for food and have found it to be great and the staff friendly and offered terrific service. The pub has a wide range of ales for you to enjoy, and I particularly enjoy having a drink outside by the river during the summer. The only downside is I think the food could be a bit cheaper.
S. K. G.
Excellent. Yummy and awesome food I had here. We had a drinks along with BBQ on top floor which is with thames river bank nice view. We started our party at 19:00 until 22:30. Staff were so kind to us .
L. O.
Always come here when in London. Great sights staff always pleasant and best of all a great pint.
R. W.
Had a nice few drinks &some food here ,whilst looking out over the Thames on a lovely sunny day.
A. C.
Surprisingly nice garden. Good service and food looked amazing (but didn't have any).
A. O.
Good atmosphere and helpful, cheerful staff
L. J.
Office Christmas Meal, service excellent, food very good and hot despite serving over 15 of us at the same time, which is unusual. Dining room had great views over the river, handy for Blackfriers, they even reserved a space downstairs for us in the bar so we could continue drinking after the meal. Only reason for 4* is attitude of bar staff on arrival downstairs, basically told too busy and would have to wait to speak to someone else who then just snapped that we needed to go upstairs. Completely different to the welcome we received from the team in the dining room who could not do enough, we're friendly and helpful and even offered to delay service so we could wait for a colleague who was running late.
S. W.
Normal pub standards, nice selection of drink. Staff are nice enough. Does get really busy. Out door and indoor seating. However, I don't know how someone in a wheelchair would get in and around.
k. M.
Great bar right on the Thames River with a very cool history behind it. We hired out the top floor for a work do. And they had great helpful staff to serve drinks. Had a great bbq set up with alot types of meat and salads. Alot of options to order. There is alot of space to find where you can sit and relax
M. H.
Great for large groups, nice and big with a few rooms and levels. Staff are polite and on the money and the drinks are reasonably priced for the area. Apart from that, it's a nice standard pub so I wouldn't recommend it if you want something special.
D. I.
Great location, lovely views.
T. D.
Great service with a relaxed atmosphere. Staff were great and very helpful
P. M.
Friendly pub in good location. Traditional wooden decor and a function room and terrace upstairs offering wonderful views from the Southbank of the Thames and the square mile. Slightly dim lighting and a smaller selection of beers but still a whorewhile and price friendly option. Heartily recommended seafood courses.
C. B.
Very nice pub with a good warm atmosphere. Had a pint or two with friends. The smell from the kitchen was so good, but alas we did not enjoy some pub grub. Next time for sure!!!
R. W.
Nice pub - I’ve been here a few times after work. It’s equidistant from both Southwark and Blackfriars tube stations so perfect for a quick stop on the way home from work. There are some levels which are hired out for private events with a great view of the river.
O. N.
Location, location, location. On the side of the Thames river, and they also have a terrace directly alongside the river. So for a nice view not surrounded by too much concrete and some fresh air with a Guiness beer, this is one the best places to sit in this area. And they have a good beer selection.
N. B.
One of the few still remaining iconic pubs in central London.
Good location. Under two minutes from Blackfrair's station
No parking.
Multiple sitting area. including an impressive beer garden.
Not enough toilets.
The bar serving area is poorly designed.
Prices not to high nor to low, decent for the area.
Very good view of the newest London landmark "one Blackfrais"
Update: Been advised that the pub is composed out of multiple floors and that there are more toilets on the upper floors. Once the other areas are checked will update the review.
G. K.
What a great place to chill on the river with great views of London..our server Charleigh was a delight and was so friendly and attentive. Its on out list for next visit. Great location too near Tate and St Pauls..
D. P.
Nice food good service plenty of space. Great view over the river Thames. Even had a veggie option but no decafe coffee, most places can do decafe even if it's instant.
C. W.
Good food, friendly service, only negative is that it was quiet and we'd have liked to sit at a four-top next to the window for a view of the river (2 women), but weren't allowed, although there was a couple sitting at one when we arrived and later 2 men came in and they were allowed to.
Ordered fish and chips and ut was delish. Then salted caramel profiteroles with vanilla bean ice cream - yummy!!
K. N.
English cuisine is an adventure :) Toad in the hole - only for brave adventurers.
S. M.
Lovely pub by Black friars Bridge, overlooking the Thames! Perfect for the summer!
A. G. U.
I chose this for two reasons, proximity to Blackfriars Station and a 25% off voucher.
I tried booking online for 1, it won't let you do that, an oversight.
Nice to be able to set up a tab in the downstairs bar, and then wander into the full service restaurant upstairs, tab transfer was no problem.
A little leisurely taking the order, I was in no hurry though. I order cherry tomato tarte tatin, arriving promptly. A little too sweet, nicely cooked and presented. Main, trio of fish, perfectly grilled followed in a timely manner. I'd asked for veg instead of fries, caveat here that a 16 quid a main no way should you use frozen and inferior beans and wrinkly chantenay carrots.
I saw a dessert board advertising a cheeseboard, this was not available because they were changing the menu soon, like 6 months ago, as illegally some prices were different to the menu prices that were charged. I opted for a lovely trio of desserts, warm, moist brownie, salted caramel profiteroles and crisp zesty lemon tart.
I'd forgotten there was a discretionary service charge here, as it wasn't advertised anywhere I could see. As the service was OK, I did leave this, but I feel it should have been better advertised, especially as prices aren't exactly either accurate always or particularly good value.
Left feeling slightly ripped off
J. R.
Did not eat here, but nice pub right on the river with good selection of beers. Good for a group with a beer garden out back. Great location and not impossibly busy even on a Friday night before a bank holiday weekend.
C. T.
Very good food, helpful and pleasant staff and great location. Have visited since for a quick drink and thoroughly enjoyed myself on a table by the river. Always worth a go if you're local.
M. S.
Very good Steak frites. So tender...ideal for my elderly teeth! Helpful staff. But...poor lighting at 4pm and went even dimmer about 4.45pm!! Seems that is normal. Romantic perhaps but difficult to see contents of plate. Staff helpful.
p. s.
Good selection of beers with a nice seating area outside, also they have a variety of areas for private hire for special occasions. The dining area has good views of the Thames
m. l.
arrived in area late night walked around looking for dinner this place was open had the toad in a hole it was done very well and yummy
C. C.
One of our favorite pubs in Central London on the south bank of the Thames, near Blackfriars Bridge. It has three floors, the lowest at river level and mostly a bar but food can be ordered here. There is also a great outside dining area right on the Thames which is truly spectacular in good weather. The second floor is a restaurant with tables and another spectacular view if the Thames, and the restrooms are also on this level. The second floor is at the bridge and roadway level of Blackfriars bridge/road. The third floor has the Terrace bar and private function rooms.
This establishment is a Nicholson's pub, and enjoys a good menu and high quality food. The beer, wine and cocktail selection is very good and the prices reasonable. Due to location, view, quality of food and beverages it is a place not to miss whether dining alone, with significant other or a family.
The only thing I personally don't lime is that they offer no method to take any leftovers home with you. The only thing you can do is wrap your leftovers in some paper napkins and put them in your purse or pocket. It's a pretty significant failing in my opinion, all things considered, and the reason for four stars instead if five.
A. S.
I met two former colleagues here
My first visit and I enjoyed it. We sat outside as it was a nice evening
The food selection suited us all
Z. N.
Best thing about this pub resto was its location on the queens walk . Its a typical British outlet ...
We had lunch there . I had the salmon fish cake while my hubby had the fish and chips platter . The meal was fulfilling quite good ... fair price compared to quality ...
M. C.
A great few hours with friends in the Garden!
Great beers and bar snacks. Table heaters a bonus and welcome 👍
G. H.
Big pub with several floors and views of the Thames. Generally full of workers/tourists.
M. F.
Quick stop by the river. Food and drinks both hit the spot, staff is friendly and service is quick. Definetly raccomend it!
T. E.
Breakfast was nice. Barstaff attitude is pretty bleak. Arrived just before midday and asked if they were still serving breakfast. The woman behind the bar replied "it's nearly finished" as if i were disturbing her Sunday morning coffee (place was dead) she asked for a table number and i said i couldn't sit on the high stool tables and walked around the bar to get a normal table number, in the mean time my partners son had given a high stool number (as i walked around the corner to give my own) i said oh no can you use this number as i have a bad back and can't sit on the high stools. She huffed and said "no i can't, I've put it through now" funny that, as we hadn't even paid.
Terrible service... as a local, the staff need a kick up the arse!
M. D.
Was there for a corporate event so your mileage may vary. Pretty typical Nicholson's pub; Pleasant staff who actually sounded like they wanted to be there and to help, good range of beers and spirits (though we were constructed somewhat) and serviceable food. Would strongly recommend the Nicholson's pale ale special edition if you can still get it. Nice views of the river and decor sensitive to the age and location of the building.
B. C.
Great bar by the river, near Borough Market, great 👍food, never disappointed 👍
A. H.
Nice pub on South Bank walk.
We had dinner and a beer here, lovely views over the Thames, particularly from the upstsirs restaurant.
Reasonable price for London .
B. W.
I've been here a few times over the years, and have always had excellent experiences.
The food is good for the price, and there's a great selection of pub classics. Staff have always been accommodating and the location is top notch.
J. F.
A fantastic bar with great staff.
This is a great venue on the South Bank of the Thames just outside Blackfriars Train Station.
It has a decent sized courtyard area.
It is reasonably clean inside and the staff are very friendly.

Great pub and restaurant on the South Bank with views of the river. Only 2 floors open for general use, one of which is the restaurant so the bar gets very busy. Food is excellent and reasonably priced.
J. C.
Great chain pub right on the river front in a great location. Very busy on weekends with a great range of food and drinks on offer. Friendly helpful staff even when busy.
N. N.
Easy five stars, probably the best night out I've had in London! Great view, we sat looking out over the Thames for the sunset. Thanks heaps to Kyleen for the banter! Absolute legend
M. D.
The food was nice, but for the price I could have done with a larger serving. It did take a while to arrive, but not an excessive one. The staff were foreign so I spoke a little more slowly and clearly: this seemed to do the trick as I had no problems. I suppose the value for money has to be considered in light of the place being in a prime tourist area of a capital city, in which case it's not bad compared to many other places around there where you're lucky to get out with the shirt on your back...
S. O.
Great atmosphere reasonable prices.
I. W.
Nice pub next to the river and good location as well
D. B.
I've visited a few times now and I enjoy this spot. Great location and atmosphere. This time I ate in the dining room and tried their Beyond Meat Burger and fries which was good. I'll be back.
V. N.
Very pricey and food is far from good. Nice place to watch the football though.
J. C.
Had a really nice lunch with my boyfriend, food was just right. Really great manager working, very attentive. Staff were friendly and a nice atmosphere. Chill, even though it was half term and there were kids and tourists everywhere on the South Bank. Thanks guys 👍
L. M.
Really nice to stop for a beer while walking the south bank, Nice cider but not a range. Female toilets small. Perfect location and can sit out front by the canal as well as beer garden out back.
G. B.
Lovely surroundings have a couple of drinks and a few bar snacks great value for centre of London
K. F.
Lovely pub food was great. Was in the restaurant upstairs which was nice as the pub downstairs was busy and loud. Made for a beautiful family dinner before Christmas overlooking London.
R. S.
Nice spot on the southbank... Service was polite but not all together competent. Would still return though.
R. A.
Good riverside location, we nipped in to avoid a storm & were pleasantly surprised, great tables overlooking the river & friendly staff. Decent selection of real ales well kept. Tried the barsnack tasting menu- pork belly & calamari, well prepared & fairly rapid service considering it was busy. Definitely worth a visit if near Blackfriars
D. M.
Great pub, good selection of ales and outdoor seating that was still warm in early March. It is also possible to book the large upstairs bar for private venues which is perfect for big dinners.
M. G.
A Nicholson pub with decent food and a rotating selection of ale. The outdoor area at the front is usually full but there's also a nice back yard. Also two floors above with views to the Thames are available.
H. T.
Only had one drink here after a meeting near Blackfriars, so can't expand too much. Location is great. Weather meant we had to be inside, which was extremely busy! Guess that's a good sign.
P. S.
Great pub, great service. Really enjoyed it
D. F.
Good food, good service and a great view of the Thames. Has several levels, and if you're more looking for a quiet dinner and not drinks, head to the dining room level.
K. -. A. W. I. R.
Good pub with loads of seating inside, ideal location, great views of the river, perfect for events. Staff are friendly, toilets are checked regularly and the place is always clean. Lovely sandwiches.
R. B.
Traditional English pub with comfort food and a good selection of beer. Great view of Thames. I went for the fish and chips and a pint.
D. C.
Perfect location, good food! :)
L. P.
It's a pub. It does decent pubby food, the chips are very good, and the beer is varied and better than standard pub fare. Unlikely to with awards any time soon, but you can do much much worse for a post work pit stop or a cheeky lunchtime jar.
L. A.
This place is great! The team were so lovely—really helpful and welcoming! I can’t recommend this pub enough! The staff were so friendly, the location amazing and the drinks were great!
J. U.
Nice roomy bar on the south bank of the River Thames.
J. P.
Very lively spot; on a Thursday evening anyway, that's when I went. Doggetts has a hidden beer garden, just as you enter the pub grounds (on Blackfriars Bridge), sharp left, just by the gates. It's a nice little gathering spot, hidden away amongst the hustle and bustle of Central London. It would probably make a great place to have pub lunch also. When I get a chance, i'll stop by for a burger and let you guys know what I think👍.
H. D.
Beautiful pub. Beautiful food and views from the conference room. Overlooking river. The best salad ive ever had (and I only chose it because im dieting) lovely servers was jere for a course but made me feel welcomed
E. O.
Maybe the better part of having to go to Jane Austen's museum with my other half!
Great little pub, fab food with all the classics you need and that ever so traditional lovely British pub atmosphere!
A. B.
Riverside pub, plenty of tables inside or out, good range of beers good food
T. O.
Piped in for some food. Reasonable prices for London. Good selection of drinks, lots of floors with reserved private parties on a Friday so looks like it would be a good place for a private function
J. W.
Here for a function (retirement party). Great good, good beer, excellent views across the Thames to St Paul's. Staff very helpful if a little busy.
J. D.
From the outside this place looks really ugly bit once inside it's a different story.
Was there for a wedding reception in the upstairs bar; great staff and stunning views along the Thames. Top notch
R. A.
Really busy but ample bar staff on duty that remained enthusiastic and friendly - still finding time to offer to bring our coffee outside to the seating area next to the river. Well worth a stop.
J. R.
A very nice pub over lots of floors, with views of the River Thames. We stopped in fir an after work drink. Will come back to try food next time
M. M.
Wonderful service from the staff. Always clean.
C. P.
Nice location with great views over the river. Good selection of ales and when I was indecisive was offered tasters by the friendly barman. Great place for a beer if you're around Blackfriars.
M. S.
Not much in the way of character but excellent views across the Thames from the upper floors and a great range of ales. Standard pub food available which I've found to be OK. Standard central London atmosphere.
D. L.
Not sure why, I quite like it. It's a hideous building from the outside, but good inside and has a good beer garden and tables at the front.
A. B. (.
Very big, have a nice quiet back garden. Ale selection is ok, although it looks bigger at first, you realise some are duplicates usual classic. Not that many actual guest ales.
S. B.
Always try to have a drink here when I'm in the area. Just love the view and atmosphere of the place. Food is good and a great selection of drinks. Never had a disappointing visit.
B. G.
A nice riverside pub and restaurant on many floors. Not fancy but very well done. A good selection of ales (on tap) lagers and spirits.
G. V.
Great for swift drink before a night out 🍷
j. g.
Good food and service. Set over 3/4 floors, garden terrace on top floor where you sit over looking the Thames - fantastic views, esp on a summer evening.
C. B.
pretty average sort of place - there are a lot nicer pubs. that being said - the view is great and it's easy to get to . a decent starting point for a pub crawl if you are meeting people who aren't from London
M. C.
Very very nice selection of beer, the staff were certainly friendly to me and I must say that the view of the river is awesome. Topped only by the actual gold badge adorning the building. To quote a good old fashioned right wing "actor" I'll be back!
M. G.
Fantastic pub with Thames views. Great food and excellent choice of beer. Let down only by it's mens toilets which I have never found clean and twice lacking paper.
S. G.
Very COVID safe premises, with a decent 'pub grub menu and a good wine selection. Well worth a visit with good value for money. S.G.
K. H.
Really spacious pub with lots of seating right on the river. Went here with a group of 7 and got great service. I had the chicken, ham hock and cheese pie... really tasty!
S. g.
Large pub on the River Thames. Plenty of nooks and crannies. Pretty standard drinks menu but reasonably priced good food and great staff. Good atmosphere most times.
C. C.
Nice food, great venue. Shame staff on the first floor find it necessary to be rude when you clearly want to eat. If they cannot be bothered to serve the customers then they are in the wrong job.
A. M.
Nice pub, cute outdoor seating area and decently priced drinks. Can get a bit hot inside. Nice for a casual drink on the river.
P. B.
Cheese and pickle Sandwich was ok tasted nice but the bread was a bit dry I expected better for over £8 .my friend booked some tables for her birthday shame no-one told her it was only till 5 as then booked for someone else she choose this pub because it was dog friendly .
M. C.
Good range of draught beers. Also several Sipsmith gin infusions. Separate dining room with table service on the first floor or order at the bar and eat downstairs in the Riverside bar overlooking the Thames or in the garden terrace if weather is OK
R. S.
Nice location and great view over the Thames! The burgers we had were not so great, they were grilled way too long.
P. D.
Great relaxed pub, great food.
A. O.
Used to frequent this pub a long time ago when we worked in the Sainsbury offices virtually next door. Great place to meet and chat. Have been overseas for the last decade but now back in London and been back to The Doggetts 3 or 4 times in the last few months. Love sitting at the high tables looking out over The Thames. Never had any problem with service from the taking of drinks to the staff delivering our food in good time. Some food portions could be bigger but I think the drink prices are fair... bottle of house white for about £13... you go a few doors down and its £25!! We will be heading back there this week with a group of us.
E. B. C.
Solid drink selection, and having a ladies room on every floor is a clutch move for those walking down the Thames. When we were staying in Westminster and walking back and forth to things like Tower Bridge or the Globe Theater, it was a must stop.
K. N.
Cute little pub with outside spacing for enjoying a beer in the sun. In a great area with easy access to the Queen's Walk. Excellent beer and the staff is very friendly.
P. L. T.
Great drinkers pub on the south bank.
The upstairs function room has a large open terrace with wide views of London and is a fantastic space for more intimate events.
W. f.
standard bar with same prices but location is great with outdoor terrace perfect on a sunny day, only stayed a couple of hours. Wish i tried the food it looked delicious, definitely going here again
N. S.
Really nice pub along the south bank of the Thames. Not over crowded and noisy like some others nearby. Nice atmosphere and great service
A. L.
Right on the Thames...nice place to chill.
M. G.
Good pub food. Quality not great for the price. Steak was average. Chips were ok. Ambience was good. Sea food dishes are likely to be better but I have not tried.
C.
Brilliant pub and lovely staff. Great food and nice selection of beers, wines etc
M. L.
I remember Doggett's Coat and Badge having the most superb vegetarian sausages and mash when we lived in London 2008-2010 - looking forward to introducing the kids! Happy memories of this great pub.
R. M.
Staff were great
Food was good but I think it couldve been a bit better.
Would go back again if I'm in the area :)
M. S. W.
Splendid Pub with great views of the Thames and St Paul’s, especially around sunset. They have a great selection of beers and the building has distinctive architecture
A. O.
Spontaneous visit for a light lunch to share while visiting the Southbank. Delicious, inexpensive, great service and warm welcome on a cold winters day. Will return on next visit to London.
M. S.
Shock horror! This bar & restaurant on the banks of the Thames is fully accessible for wheelchair users! A lift goes to all floors. The entrance for wheelchair users is through the garden but otherwise you can get to all areas. A must visit as you wander the Southbank.
R. O.
Good place to pickup a beer after work with a colleague. Staff are great, price of beer is also good. Tidy and not too busy. Very good.
E. P.
Perfect location (perfect view on riverside), great service that makes you feel welcome, good food at reasonal prices. Good Pub "feeling". Offered tasting of a beer was highly appreciated.
Good place for a stop on the Southbank.
P. S.
Reasonably priced London pub. Staff were fab, friendly and provided a quick service. Right on the river front which is awesome.
B. J.
Great little place good food good drinks and excellent staff
N. P.
Great pub with tasty food. Delicious salad and good choice. Quite expensive but it is to be expected so central in London.
M. H.
Great Riverside pub with plenty of outdoor space. One or two vegetarian choices but there is a great selection of drinks for whatever mood you may be in. Great place
A. M.
A nice pub right next to Thames and black friars station. The views from top floors are excellent and the place has good list of drinks on offer.
R. B.
Great selection of beers and food. Great garden and heated outdoor greenhouse thing. Just don't use the bathroom, it's too small and disgustingly dirty.
D. S.
Great place to eat! Totally affordable!
T. M.
Friendly, helpful staff and great food, nice atmosphere, thoroughly recommend
S. M.
Decent pub, fairly lively most evenings. Right by the river, supposedly has an awesome view on the roof terrace but unfortunately its only open for private parties
S. W. (. h.
Busy multi floored pub by the river thames and Blackfriars bridge. Decent enough and usually quite busy. Has a seating area outside which at the back, away from the river, is heated.
T. H.
Nice place reasonably priced
D. W.
Great pub on Bankside! Easy to book for a Saturday night and all of the Covid measures were spot on! Well worth a visit
M. W.
Great location, busy in the week not so much at the weekend.
P. P.
It's
a great setting on the river Thames next to blackfriars, you can always get a table even after work on a Friday and prices are reasonable... The area is also very well connected in terms of transport
r. d.
This has to be one of the ugliest pubs in London, if not the UK. Unless you're a fan of brutalist architecture of course. However, it's a good alternative to the nearby, often busier pubs and is friendly and good value. Yes, you can sit outside by the river if you're lucky with the timing and weather.
Would have got fewer stars for being unattractive, but - to be fair - it looks like it was built at the same time as the wonderful Southbank Centre, which is also brutal and pretty-much next door, well, 10 minutes walk.
While the National Theatre and Royal Festival Hall are also 1950s concrete, Southbank is a simply wonderful development, as it's actually FOR THE PEOPLE, rather than being yet another glass temple to obscene Middle Eastern wealth, as most of the eyesores going up as we speak all over London are.
I take it back Doggetts. You're the people's pub. You're beautiful.
c. o.
Friendly place with plenty of outdoor seating.
E. M.
Nice food, noisy but good atmosphere, a touristy pub that still manages to keep its real attraction - apart from its fantastic location by the river, a great place to meet up afternoons and evenings
J. S.
Their success is probably their downfall. It just gets way too crowded at peak hours and the staff don't seem particularly bothered to get people served. It would be a very comfortable pub if it weren't so crowded and you had to shout to have a conversation.
d. w.
Worst food ever. Chicken looked disgusting. Hard on the outside dry on the inside. We ordered the pies I'm sure they were store bought and reheated to some rediculas temperture horrible food would never recommend to anyone what a was of hard-earned money. Very disappointed
N. A.
Good food and location!
D. C.
good pub with local feel in tourist/city area.
Godo beer ( London Pride especially), polite and helpful staff and reasonabel food to soak the beer up ;-)
