Great music venue in East London, part of the renowned toilet gig circuit. (But toilets are very clean and well stocked in this pub) Large main room with large stage with unimpeded view. This was a socially distanced event, with comfortable seating area, and building was well ventilated at this time. Great beer and outside seating area. 'Hard of Hearing Music Magazine' lineup of bands was of great quality, and the acoustics in the room were good. Worth noting .... If the pub has a gig scgeduled for that night you do need to book a ticket in advance to get into the venue. Booking was available via 'DICE' Tickets. In this instance gig was was fully sold out at capacity so no tickets available to buy on the door.

I love the George Tavern as a place to meet friends. Great atmosphere with a good live band. However staff have not worked out the table service very well and you can't go to the bar so we waited a very long time for drinks. Disappointingly the server brought us a white rum and ginger ale for a 'dark and stormy'

So much fun! Lovely crowd, cheap beer, good music. Went here with my friends on a Saturday night and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. Especially fun right after the pride parade when everyone was partying and enjoying life! Also felt very safe, even in a somewhat shady area.

Another throwback east london pub. Not as real as somewhere like the palm tree but is nicer. When I was there, a folk band played a gig on a Saturday night. It was all very middle class. All very strange but memorable.

Best pub of the town. There's live music every weekend, it got an outside bit that's really lovely with a seating area as well. The inside is probably like the coolest pub you've ever been to, really old and you can feel it. The atmosphere there is always friendly it's a good place to meet new people. They got good beers as well, nothing too special but just what you need for the night. If you're around in shadwell this pub is truly recommended!

This is hands down the friendliest pub in East London. From a great tap selection to fantastic live music, this is place to do it all. The beer garden is one of the best, and where I have met many cool people.

Great atmosphere, live music, one of the best bar in the whitechapel / shadwell area. I think it's one of the only place playing live music around here. It's open late on the weekends which is great to have a good night out.

This place has been under threat of closure many times but thankfully it remains a vital music venue for grassroots bands, and also a warm and inviting local pub that has a sizeable beer garden. The ale selection is fairly unspectacular but they have enough to please. Make sure you support your local music venue.

The George is a nice local pub. It has a friendly atmosphere. Candles on the tables in the evenings. Garden area. Live music, and other entertainment throughout the week, but not every day. You can order pizzas at the bar. Friday and Saturdays it's open to 3am.

This place is quality, down from Manchester working found this place unreal. Ratio of say 5-1 girls to guys. Live music and fantastic bar maids. Good lager and ale candles fantastic staff. Toilets are spotless. Fantastic night and we all pulled :-)

Underground pub with loads of History. The outside is just been restored. The inside is begging to be restored. Good bands play during the week. Good enough choice of beverages, but lacks in the department of ale possibilities. Has a beer garden but is a bit underwhelming. The vibe is young the prices are a bit expensive for the area. The background music is one of the best in London.

The original decor, candlelit tables and retro music make it a great place to drink after work. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly and live music is in regularly. This is easily one of the best pubs in the area.

Supposedly this is a top English pub where many acts got their start. I’ve rolled in at 4pm and the place is empty. The beer selection is not great. They have a cask ale, some ubiquitous lagers and some staple bottled beer from Mexico and US with widely known names. They did have a Blue Moon Weiss beer which was welcome in the July heat.

Nice place to visit. The pub has character and is never overly busy that you have to wait ages to get served. There is always the right amount of people you would expect on that occasion. Nice selection of drinks including draft beer, wines and spirits.

Amazing ambiance and decor, even the toilet.. We love the candles in the old bottle and the old téléphon in front of the corridor. We like the garden a French guinguette decor absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately we don't like the barmaid and the barman who was not really professional (during the day..).. . BTW The no alcohol drinks are limited. But I recommend to you to not miss this venue. I WANT TO TRY the evening comedy show. See you soon George

Nice pub due to the very interesting decor. Surely captivating if you pay attention to the detail. Prices are ££ and the bartender seemed to have given up on life tbh, no matter how smiley and polite you were. I do recommend a visit just to add to the experience but it's nothing woowza.

I really like this pub but the music is god awful. The worst early 00's RnB. Think soulja boy. And what's more they just repeat the same songs over and over. And it's too loud to ignore. It's not as if any of the clientele look like they enjoy that kind of music. Nice place though and nice staff.

Large outside seating area is very nice, the bar is good and they have live music most weekends. They let you bring in food, don't attempt the pizza, be a use they don't have kitchen so they order from a restaurant, it's just easier to do UberEats or whatever

A surprisingly lively spot for a quiet part of Commercial Road! Great DJ playing a mixture of hits and more obscure contemporary hip hop, nice space for dancing and sitting and chatting. Big smoking area out the back - I will be back!

Fantastic pub, arts venue, music venue. Seen some great bands here and some fantastic theatre and comedy. The closed down stepney's nightclub here is home to the famous multi coloured dance floor from the Pulp video, but is unfortunately under threat by developers. Tragic

Canadian visitors and we loved it here! Tucked away near Shadwell station. Built in 1623, home to local live music and great beer. The bartender was very friendly and the son of the owner, he told us some history of the tavern. Definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area.

It's a good pub with a garden and good for some after work drinks. However the music is quite loud from quite early, even when the pub itself is not busy, so not great if you want somewhere to have a quiet chat.

Probably my favourite find during a business trip to London. Candle lit 'post band night' vibe. There was weird lo-fi hip hop playlists on and we drank cider in the dark. Who isn't into that? Lots of people, probably, but I sure as hell am.

Unexpectedly fun pub tucked down a not-fun street in Stepney. Legendary club nights, ultra-friendly bar staff, wobbly closing times. Don't go if you like things smart; this shabby gem is only for those who don't mind a floor with the odd sawdust remnant.

So sad - was our favorite place for Sunday brunch. They had the best menu for roasts. Sadly they changed their menu which left me with few options and I was so disappointed. Would have given 1 star but everyone is so nice here and ir is a local pub. Previously was a solid 5 stars. Will be our last time here unless they bring the old menu back (and this was our weekly ritual while in London). Very sad…
