Reviews of Horse & Guardsman
N. W.
This was a lovely old pub not far from Horse Guards Parade ground!! The staff were very friendly and it's an independent pub with it's own real ale of which it does three choices, plus others!! The food is freshly cooked to order, so just a bit if a wait but it was lovely, we had the chicken burger! The inside of the pub is lovely to look ar to and it was clean and all tables are cleaned after people leave!! Will be going back when next up to London!! Highly recommend!!

Great pub with a great selection of beers, spirits and cocktails. Great food too. Not far from Trafalgar Square and theatre. Toilets are great too

Visited here last Monday. Very impressed. Friendly staff who welcomed me as I walked in, and good service. Beautifully decorated with lovely photos and paintings. My favourite was the large painting showing the Charge Of The Light Brigade on the left hand side as you enter. The mezzanine level was relaxing with comfy seating and booths with curtains you can pull across for privacy.

This pub recently reopened. Great location and we loved the decor. We were able to get a seat upstairs and enjoyed a quiet mid-afternoon meal while sipping on some warm beverages before heading off to more sightseeing. They offered several vegetarian options and gluten free bread for my sandwich. Service was solid and the staff and doing well getting used to the new systems and menu. Wish you all the best of luck!

Very nice pub restaurant in Whitehall near to Trafalgar Square

Popped in here before a show. Nice & Clean

Visited on Saturday to watch the rugby game and watch Scotland take the win in our hearts. Enjoyed a fantastic meal of fish and chips with excellent bar service. It was super busy and lively and just shows how popular the pub is. Was able to get drinks in a timely manner and was very impressed of the staff handling so many patrons of the pub and serving food and drinks non-stop. Couldn’t ask for more!

A dazzling development of the old JDW pub that used to occupy the premises. Wood panelling all around accompanied by large amounts of Guards memorabilia adorning the walls and shelves. The bar area itself has a rich feeling of a Palm Court, London club. There are two mezzanine eating areas, both look lovely. A genuinely, outstanding pub development.

Really like the makeover from a wetherspoons to a fantastic pub with eating areas and family dining.
Lots of great art, historic items and relaxing environment.

Fantastic pub good bar staff friendly bouncer in the door spent a enjoyable couple of hours there

Excellent service and the food was delicious. We had the steak and ale pie and highly recommend it.

Great experience. Love what they've done with the decor. Friendly staff, a good range of food options and decent beers, 1 minute from Trafalgar Square. What's not to love!
R. D.
Great new pub with a wide range of food and drink. Excellent service from a friendly and welcoming team. Well worth a visit. Thank you, we'll be back.

The most beautiful bar. The staff was extremely pleasant. Great value for food and drinks. Definitely will be back

Stunning pub near trafalgar Square. Good selection of beers, friendly staff

Wandered in this pub thinking it was still a wetherspoons that existed here a couple of years ago, more than pleasantly surprised to find this place here instead. Absolute night and day. Decor is fantastic. Instantly hit by the individuality, warmth, and charm to the place. Ruby behind the bar had us laughing and relaxed before we'd even ordered. Wonderful service, great drinks, very interesting looking menu. Will definitely be returning when we are in the area.
C. R.
Excellent food and beer and the staff are really helpfull. With a terrific atmosphere.
Well done.

If you are ever up the 'smoke' and you're looking for a nice pub for a beer and a munch, look no further. The top end of Whitehall, just off T square. So handy for the going up West. Fantastic pub great food and beer. You won't find any better.

Great refurbishment that fits the National Gallery museum. Great lighting, the space is incredibly done, the bar is gorgeous and the staff are really friendly. Went only for drinks. The only downside, the music which seem to be out of place and didn't fit the space I felt, but I'm sure they will figure this out too soon.

Beautiful pub -stunning interior. Visited here for a Sunday roast and can't wait to go back! Staff were lovely and service was faultless. Food was amazing and drinks were great!
S. C.
Really like the feel of this place, the food is of good standard. It's a great place to grab a drink with friends/colleagues

Great location, beautiful decor inside. Food and latte was lovely. Will definitely be back if in the area again 🙂

Excellent pub at North end of Whitehall. Really nicely decorated, lovely food and drink. Medium priced menu.

Newly opened, during our recent visit to London we ate there three of the four nights we were there. The food was good, well cooked and presented. The staff were very pleasant. Considering it was the capital, the prices were very reasonable.

The Horse & Guardsman pub is simply the best place to spend a good night with friends, it’s currently my favourite spot, the staff are very friendly and really look after their guests and the food is very nice too. I have attended several times and really enjoyed it.
L. W.
The pub looks great since reopening. Great pub classics on the menu and some really nice beers. Loved the atmosphere in the bar and the team were awesome. Will definitely be back.
V. 1.
Nice atmosphere, staff friendly. Food took a while to come out which was disappointing, considering the food was nice when it arrived. Sadly, didn't get to try the triple cooked chips as they'd run out and had fries instead. Wasn't that busy when we visited. Would return again as it has lots of character and is relaxing.

Lovely atmosphere in this newly refurbished pub, food excellent, can highly recommend Steam and Sea Bass, others meals looked good too. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning for the Sunday Lunch

Me and the girls enjoyed a lovely afternoon lunch here! The food was amazing (good size portions and hot) and the cocktails were delicious.
The deco is outstanding and staff were very accommodating and polite. Will definitely be returning 🤗

This little gem is situated next to the Trafalgar theatre, down stairs you are able to walk around and go to the bar. Upstairs it's table service only
Good well priced food, good selection of beers spirits and cocktails.
Very clean, upto date with COVID-19 regulations
Well done to all the staff
A. A.
Great crossover of traditional pub with classic decor and modern food with a Rio vibe. Great table service for the restaurant upstairs and friendly service.
P. M.
A great pub use to be weather spones that needed a big refurbishment. This new company took over the pub and gave it a total refurbishment and its looks very lovely. The features are top quality and high end. The decor is very nice there an amazing painting of the charge of the British Calverley at the battle of Waterloo. The pub is enflunced by a lot of history. When in Central London this is going to be my new local bar.
A. A.
Chicken pie excellent. Atmosphere stupendous. The team are great people like Katie and Chris are very welcoming. Will return from a bartender
J. G.
A lovely environment to be in, great selection of alcohol and the food was amazing. Extremely reasonably priced for the location. Would definitely recommend.
P. W.
The pub has been refurbished really nicely. It wasn't very busy probably due to being a few days before Christmas. £6.65 for a pint of Camden Hell's so a bit on the steep side but was a lovely, chilled evening and will definitely be returning!
n. p.
Beautiful pub, much better than the spoons it used to be
Great prices considering its location, the knowledgeable staff have no issue making a long list of cocktails with their extensive list of liquor
Would highly reccomend for a date night, casual pint or after work drinks!
Will definitely be back
J. F.
Loved seeing this brought my grandaughter to London for her 18th as she wanted to seethe sights and to see what London is all about! She found it very overwhelming but In joyed the sights even saw Boris going back into number 10 couldn't of picked a better day if we tryed
H. W.
Beautiful interior, great pints on tap and delicious food!
Cannot recommend highly enough.
W.
Nice change from the Spoons that once was there but your extra £2 a pint is paying for the fancy decor. Happily be back
L. C.
The place looks great. Nice deco. A bit disappointed for the kitchen. 8.30pm kitchen was close at Saturday eve. No food at all. I hope to see a visible notice for the kitchen time next time. Aperol spritz was fine.
S. H.
Long wait for food - main course arrived before starter. Gammon very thin small 5oz portion so ordered 2. Steak lovely but very fatty. Chicken and leek pie and triple cooked chips delicious. Drink order very slow. Staff lovely.
L. E.
Had a great evening at this pub, especially Val (with great nails) made us some lovely cocktails
S. P.
Had a cold drink and a lovely meal. Both served quick, 1st time in there and will definitely go in again
K. W.
First class pub good staff bit pricey for a northern lad but you expect to pay more when visiting London. Well worth a visit nice & clean.
B. B.
Cracking venue! The menu both drinks and food is spot on. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Well recommended.
S. S.
Loved the new look of the horse and guardsman, menu wide range choice, we just wanted a drink and a snack so had a shared Baked Camembert with toasted rosemary focaccia we were disappointed with the 4 x 2inch pieces of focaccia that came with it, not sufficient to have with the camembert, we had lots of cheese left what we had to eat just with fork to save wasting,
G. A.
Visited before the theatre. Nachos were delicious. Cheeky bargirl Mel made me laugh and served me a great old fashioned!
C. G.
I'm not a person to leave reviews for places, but I couldn't not write this one; on Friday evening, I visited this new pub, totally renovated in the highest quality and cosy. I only ate a few small plates advised by the staff who attended to us with a smile and knew what we wanted since we were having drinks and wanna something to share. It was delicious and made me want to come and try the main dishes; it will definitely be my after-work spot.
And as a bonus from where I was, I could appreciate the wonderful choir from our veterans that were there.
k. b.
Ambience is lovely and if having a drink great, but very disappointed with Sunday Roast, was lukewarm, staff took it away and replaced it with something only slightly warmer, had to ask for horseradish sauce, beef a bit chewy, but couldn't face sending it back again so ate it.Staff pleasant
M. W.
Kitchen closes at 8.30pm. Disappointed. Good cocktails. My Expresso Martina was perfect. Not big choice for soft drinks.
D. P.
Friendly & welcoming staff, great selection of beers, wine & cocktails, food is a mix of traditional British with also sharing plates & veggie options,
Choice of restaurant dining or you can just order at the bar. Will definitely return on my next visit to London. Try the Rivertown IPA
P. C.
Best Sunday roast in central London by far. Lovely big portions. Fit staff, lovely atmosphere and they've done a smashing job on the refurb. Highly recommend.
M. B.
Newly refurbished, such a beautiful pub with a great atmosphere
R. H.
This is yet another sumptuously redecorated pub that Mc Mullen’s have acquired. It used to be a Wetherspoons and the difference is incredible. The staff are polite and friendly and the beers are good. Highly recommended.
S. D.
Beautiful interior and great team, thanks to the manager Katie who provided a friendly service when they were extremely busy!
L. P.
One of the best and cleanest pubs I've been in. Lovely..
A. D.
What a transformation from the old spoons. This place is almost unrecognisable from the precious occupants. Mezz floor now offers tables upstairs. Not tested food but drinks and ambience were on point.
P. F.
Fabulous pub and lovely staff!! Will definitely be returning.
B. T.
Great British pub. Really enjoyed the steak pie and the variety of beers on offer.
D. M.
Great pub. Prices not bad for London and the pub has a great atmosphere.
J. L.
London prices, but great service and a warm friendly atmosphere. Worth dropping in for a mulled wine and after a trip to the National or buying horseshoes in the Horse guards museum
K. D.

S. G.
Good food. Nicely refurbished.
M. A.
The food was amazing, and the team lovely and friendly. The interior is stunning. I will be back!
P.
I lovely refurbishment with loads of character. Beer a bit pricey, but then if you're going to pay £6 a pint anywhere, it's going to be central London!
A.
Popped in for a quick drink while in the area. Very nice warm and welcoming pub.
F. P.
Perfect service, amazing cocktails and excellent service, highly recommended, the Bar waiter Val was on point, perfect cocktails
K. K.

T. M.
A nice atmosphere with truly atrocious food and questionable table service (through no fault of the staff)
A. O.
Excellent food reasonably priced.
Great service.
G. G.
great boozer - much better than the spoons that was there previously.
was impressed by the gammon and chips - though maybe could do with having a bit more gammon
beer selection good
decor amazing - its like a country pub in central london
work around the corner - will certainly be our go to spot going forward -
for those who smoke ( i dont) the back has a door to the outside - which is a better smoking area than the spoins used to have ( they didnt have one ! )
My initials are HG too - like the pub's - i did ask them if i could buy one of their logo tops- but they werent sure i could- i wont knock a star off for that ...

Heerlijk gezeten hier.
