Reviews of Maddens Bar East Finchley

Wonderful place! Easy to get to, the staff is great and so is the beer! There's also a pool table which is always a plus for me, although it's frequently occupied. They also have quiz nights and live music (not on the same night) although I haven't tried either. Definitely recommend!

Maddens Bar is a spot. a place to visit more than once. Tube station 5 mins. Buses galore. Goes without saying the staff...... Plus there's a pool room with a good table! In the name of God. The Guinness is perfectly adequate. That's a 9/10. Perfectly acceptable

Second time in a week that my wife and I ventured over to Maddens. Great local pub with an awesome atmosphere. We went last sunday night and really enjoyed the live music! This time we went on a friday night and it was quite a bit more busy and it was great to watch all the interactions. Obviously a hub for locals in the area and we enjoyed the vibe. The food is from a thai kitchen next door. We highly reccomend the thai pai with chicken. Favourite dish here by far. Very very tasty! :). Maddens will be a normal night out for my wife and I moving forward :)

Really good Thai food.
Green papaya salad 10/10. This iconic Thai dish had perfect balance of flavours. Not as fishy as in Thailand (which was a little too fishy IMO), otherwise seemed the same. will definitely have this again. NOTE this dish is not on menu, so you may wish to call before going if you want this.
Pad Thai noodles with prawns 9/10. Really excellent, well balanced, authentic. I'll have this next time.
Green curry with chicken 7/10. Good taste, although not quite what I'm used to. Seemed a little unbalanced with too much of one flavor (possibly galangal) and couldn't taste any Thai basil. It was good though, and had good chili level and was certainly acceptable, although just not to my personal taste.
Atmosphere 7/10 (for eating). We visited Sunday lunch which was fairly quite. Being sports bar it had football match on TV, although volume wasn't too loud.
Thanks, really enjoyed eating here and will come again soon.

The owner is welcoming and friendly, but the bar staff are rude and snappy. Nice music as well.

My local and I love it. Lively programme of live music and events but equally, a great place to watch sports, read the paper, chat with friends or strangers for that matter or anything else you might decently want to do in a pub. Well run, good people, beer, wine and even cocktails. Great atmosphere. If you're in the area, go there

Always have an enjoyable time here, just a shame the North London Derby wasn't played on Sunday
