Reviews of Mitre Lancaster Gate

Great customer service and a well made bloody Mary. What a Sunday funday! Fire and old pub. I am lucky to be able to enjoy. Very happy. What a great place to spend a grey day.

❤️ The Mitre in Lancaster Gate was pub three on a crawl from Marble Arch to Queensway and a pub I have been eager to visit for some time.
.
The pub stands proud as punch on a corner next to a picturesque mews. This pub is a real thing of beauty inside and out with its imposing victorian architecture and a sumptuous interior. The decor as you can imagine is traditional, ornate woodwork, stained glass and lots of brass fixtures and fittings complement this sizeable boozer. You can either relax on a comfy leather bench or gather around a large table with friends or just pull up a seat in front of the open fire and warm your cockles, you really feel that this is a great place to be. It was very relaxed in here on this Saturday afternoon and there was a broad mix of clientele in attendance. The food and drink prices were on the high side which wasn’t a surprise based on location, my pint was also the highest price of all pubs visited in the area that day. However, I was happy to pay a premium for such a great experience.
.
The @mitrelancastergate is an exceptional pub and epitomises all the great things that London pubs have to offer. The architecture is stunning, the decor is elegant and all is wrapped up in a warm and welcoming environment. Why not treat yourself to a visit and see for yourself.

A lovely and welcoming pub and venue in a great location with friendly and extremely attentive staff, great food, and amazing cocktails!
We held our wedding reception at The Mitre on Sept 11th 2021 for a small group of 20 people.
When we first visited to scope it out for booking the staff could not have been more welcoming. We were given a tour and they were immediately interested in the details of our day and how they could fulfil our vision.
Having left our decorations and plans with them the night before, on the day of our wedding Rebecca, the manager, spent a great deal of time and effort setting up our room in such a lovely way, we were all so impressed.
Erik and Vanessa were on hand the whole evening to serve custom cocktails the pub had designed for us and take care of our guests.
Our guests absolutely raved over the food. It was phenomenal and the kitchen and staff were flexible to allow us to take a break between courses for a speech.
We had a lovely bunch of flowers as a gift from Rebecca and the team and it was touches like this that made our day extra special.
Thank you so much to Rebecca, Erik, Vanessa and everybody else for making our wedding day such a lovely experience at The Mitre. You were amazing!!

Traditional local pub with a real fire. Good food and a good range of gins. Attentive service

We had our wedding day at The Mitre and I couldn't recommend it enough for weddings and events. We had 40 people for dinner in the upstairs room and 60 people for drinks after at Old Mary's. Rebecca helped us plan and co-ordinate every element and went above and beyond to help us with the planning, she ensured everything ran like clockwork and both venues looked beautiful. The food was delicious and all our guests raved about it. Rebecca also sourced a band for Old Mary's which everyone loved, she really did make the day 100% perfect for us.

I can't believe I've stayed in this area for over 10 years now when visiting London, and I've only JUST got the good sense to check out this classic English pub!
We were staying in a hotel around the corner and decided to come in for a cozy Sunday roast. We've seen this pub crowded by locals before, so just to be safe (and exposing ourselves as the foreigners we are) we booked a table online. The online reso said the table would be indoors, but since we were taking multiple covid tests for our flight, we made a note to ask if they could accommodate one of their outside tables for the reso. Within hours, the manager emailed me confirmed she would be able to do so.
I was very impressed and pleasantly surprised that the Mitre's roasts offered a combination of meats in one dish - not just one. You could have multiple types of beef, combinations of chicken, beef, and duck, or even a vegetarian option. Now maybe I haven't had enough sunday roasts to be a connoisseur, but I've never seen that before and definitely like the variety.
The hostess was also very accommodating when taking our order, as one of the meats in one of our orders didn't have a full portion, so she was able to find a suitable substitute.
If I had to describe this meal in one word, it would simply be yummy. The meat was tender, the horseradish was spicy (the way I like it), the vegetables not over or underdone, and the yorkshire pudding had me drooling.
Everything a sunday roast should be in beautiful and quite neighborhood that's still close enough to the buzz of central London. Would recommend the Mitre to anyone who wants to play local and people watch real british folks.
C. B.
We hired a private room for a family reunion in January for ten people. We were welcomed warmly, shown to a lovely room with a fire, served with Prosecco, and received excellent service throughout our dinner. The food was of a high standard, and the roasts were particularly generous.
Highly recommended. Reasobably priced. Very well looked after by our hostess.
G. E.
Wow brilliant service amazing food. The pork belly roast is the nuts. If you want a roast come here lovely
N. M.
A really cute pub, very clean and with a variety of beers. Our way to go in the neighborhood
A. B.
One of my favourites in this area. Nice local vibe, good beer selection. Staff were all a bit new when I last went but usually good.
J. E.
5 stars. What an amazing place. The landlady and staff were 5 stars. They serve beavertown beers. This was amazing find. So warm friendly and great beers. This place is worth a visit.
A. R.
This is an awesome pub, very traditional and average, but it is one of the only ones in the area, very refined and cozy.
P. D.
The Mitre is a beautiful grade II listed building from 1850 which is popular with locals and tourists alike. There is a relaxed and casual atmosphere where locally sourced seasonal British food is served. I had a meat pie,
potato and chestnut mas and fresh peas with leeks for dinner. It was delicious! The bar offers a wide range of award winning Young’s beers, world lagers, craft beers and fine wines. I loved it here! I realized I was in London!
S. S.
The Mitre at Lancaster gate is a great place to hang out with family and friends. They have great options of drinks and food. Don't expect lot of options for vegetarians, but decent enough options. We were first told there was no table (for 2) by a gentleman. But thankfully we didn't leave and i again asked a lady inside for assistance and she immediately showed me the table. (Weird hospitality by that guy for telling us that there isn't a table available).
Their staff were running all around to attend the guests orders. All said, once we were in, the experience was really good! The ambience is perfect for a bar. Overall, I'd recommend this place. Perfect place to relax!
A. A.
Fantastic food, brilliant and friendly service. If and when we visit Haymarket, we would most definitely call again. Well done!
c. a.
Fast, efficient and pleasant staff. Only stopped in for one drink but it was delicious, food at other tables looked fantastic. Great atmosphere and very clean. Thank you.
T. S.
Excellent service great food log fire a great bonus
P. B.
We had a lovely evening and wonderfully looked after by Liz and the team.
Good food too
D. N.
Youngs pub. Very nice interior with lots of wood & glass. Separate dining room looks good. Did not try food but menu interesting. This is an expensive area, and bar prices will reflect that.
R. D.
Invited to a small birthday dinner at the Mitre. Staff were friendly and patient. Food was okay. Ordered the Fish 'n' Chips, it was alright. I wasn't blown out of the water.
F. S.
Good service considering we were there in the middle of a rugby game.
Fish and chips were good, and made excellent with the mashed peas. Quite large as well.
The sticky toffee was an amazing mix of hot and cold, and different textures. I was sad it was gone.
Skip the baked haddock though. It was quite bland.
V. T.
Was on holiday from Australia, and we wanted to try out a bunch of British pubs
The Mitre was by far the clear winner out of every one we went to.
I had the sausages with mash, onion rings and plum gravy (Can't remember what it was exactly called) but holy it was the most delicious thing ever. I am not much of a sausage fan but i wanted to give it a go and i fell completely in love!
And the onion rings were the best onion rings i have ever had, we ended up ordering more of them!
The staff are also extremely nice!
100% go here if you get the chance!
L. F.
Food was delicious. Bar staff were super polite and helpful
B. C.
Great food and the staff were fantastic. Thank you Mitre your food is delicious 👍👍👍
S.
I came here three times over 6 years. And it has always delivered. Spectacular wine list (said the Italian wine connoisseur), the menu says: I'm a gastropub but I don't charge you too much just because I added gastro and I'm closed to Hyde park. Bottom line: I spent £12 for a succulent slow beef with carrots, a thick slice of real sourdough break and garlic butter. The sides were enjoyable too. I'm looking forward to my 4th visit. :-)
A. C.
Brilliant food ,great friendly staff, good value for money 😀😀👍.
J. H.
Lovely pub, nipped in as my other half had fond memories with his uncle in here some years bk, so it was my first time.
I have to say, as it was a warm day a nice pint was welcome, the staff was brilliant and the pub was clean, but I was so pleased to see the pull chain toilets in there, love the original features, and everyone was friendly and welcoming, a mega thumbs up to the owners and will be returning next time I'm in the area.
C. F.
Great food and staff. Tucked away a bit so never overly busy.
I. M.
Lovely traditional pub, on a small side street north of Hyde park. The interior is old world style, staff are always welcoming and friendly. The Sunday roasts are delicious, plentiful and well priced. There are tables outside too but the interior is special and warrant a visit.
C. C.
Great selection of ales and delicious starters. The waitress was new there but still did a good job. Music was a bit loud but that's fair for the weekend.
M. L.
Perfect pub ambiance. Very nice looking bar. Real fire place. Very good pub food. Very happy to live near this jem.
G. K.
Cosy little pub. Always like the atmosphere in there. Decent pint of Guinness and a gin
D. K.
4 stars because it is a lovely pub with a great ambience and friendly staff. Had a Sunday roast which unfortunately wasn't up to scratch compared to other local pubs.
A. G.
Love this pub! Very friendly stuff, good atmosphere and classical period interior.
A. M.
We are local and we love this pub, today Kia was our waiter and he was very friendly and efficient.
I highly recommend this pub.
T. S. (.
Very nice local bar with great atmosphere. The food is very tasty, the beer is great, what more can I ask.
T. B.
Great food, beer, and atmosphere. Not much more you could ask from a traditional London pub. Try the wild boar sausages.
C. P. M.
Great food, big selection of beer, and friendly/knowledgeable staff.
As a tourist I recommend this place, best pub!
A. O.
A fabulous group booking with super helpful staff, good selection of drinks, great food and really well organised. Can't fault it
A. R.
Amazing british food in a vintage looking sorrounding. Great kind staff and service.
T. S.
What an amazing local pub, with delish food and vast beer selection
J. L.
This pub looked cool from the outside. Cool glasswork. It is doggy friendly. We ordered two ciders and were disappointed as it was not tasty at all but more on the side of vile. Both were flat. Maybe it was the "bottom of the barrel". Probably it can happen but it was a disappointment. In general we are not picky people. There is always a silver lining though, by not drinking more than 1/4 of it we did not get thrashed for our 13h-long flight. I could not make my mind if it was truly a neighborhood watering hole or a touristy place.
*UPDATE*
After a helpful response from the pub, I learned that ciders like these are meant to be flat. Wasn't my favourite, but at least I know it was on purpose. Thanks, Mitre team for your informative response.

This is another friendly Young’s pub that’s frequented by the locals who enjoy a pint or two and tourists who order fish and chips. #pub #pint #londonpub
A. P.
Nice pub .Very decorated.
T. J.
Beautiful place, with lovely fresh traditional british food, high quality drink and the loveliest bar staff in London. I also reccomend the Sunday Roast!
k.
The burger was pretty good and the fries were perfect. The staff was very friendly too.
J. W. C.
Great hidden gem. Slightly off the beaten path but nearby Lancaster Gate/Queensway/Paddington. Does get busy in the evening, less so for lunch. Food is reliable and menu changes enough to keep it interesting. Worth a trip.
Z. N.
Top fish and chips , well done chef
U. D. G.
We tried the fish & chips, the burger and the toffee pudding, and it was all delicious :-)
R. V.
The staff were nice and the burger i had was amazing. Good overall experience.

Delicious and generous Sunday Roasts. Staff was really friendly. We will be back.

This is absolutely the best pub we have visited on this trip to London.
We had fantastic food, good beer and very nice service.
Thank you 🍻😃👍

Great choice of beer and very comfortable inside. Will vist regularly.

Mac and cheese balls are very good. Star city double ipa is very tasty. Place is lively and the staff very cool. Come by and enjoy. The place is worth a visit.
S. C.
Lovely pub with open fire and cosy atmosphere
M. W.
Nice atmosphere, cozy pub with beautiful fireplace and glass ceiling to have a small dinner. A quiet spot away from the tourists in Hyde park.
B. D.
Best boozer for miles. Summer and winter. Gorgeous welcoming premises, great food and wonderful genuinely friendly and helpful staff. You can tell it’s well run as the people that work there are as happy as the people that drink there. Mixture of loyal locals and discerning tourists - keeps it interesting.
P. F.
Nice little pub close to park. Had Sunday lunch here and it was a treat.
C. L.
The beer was excellent. Gave it a thorough going over. Proper job, indeed.
N. T.
A good friendly pub. We enjoyed our visit.

Great food, great service, great pub!
M.
Great staff, cosy place.

We are here in 2016 and it was some of the best food we had while in London. Honest meat pies and it made me a fan of root vegetables when I had a taste of the broiled seasonal vegetables which was served us by mistake. Will definitely go back for the shepherds pie. Service and ambiance was great.
T. D.
Great location, great beers and superb service. Really enjoyed it and will definitely visit again.
C. W.
Sat in the sun outside. Great salmon pie. Will go back for sure when around. Good vibe

Great place, and handy for a beer before getting a train out of Paddington 😀

Lovely place, slightly off the beaten track. Don't be shy to ask where it is. Lovely decor inside
C. L.
Still probably worth a visit, but looking a bit tired, beer was a little disappointing
B. H.
Great vibe and not too pricey!
V. M.
The place is good unfortunately no proper ale but good service and the Monk Fish and Prawns are brilliant.
M. B.
Good drinks, ok food. Good service.
C. S.
Great selection of beverages, funky atmosphere and a nice variety of nibbles and full meals. Customers bring their dogs to hang out, which is cool with me because I like animals. The Mitre provides complimentary dog treats and water for your pooch. How groovy is that? When the place is busy the staff can get a bit overwhelmed but ain't that true anywhere?
L. T.
What a lovely pub, accomodating and friendly staff with clean toilets and a great wine list.
P. R.
Beautiful Victorian pub. Excellent service and a very friendly and welcoming team, They should be training people in other establishments how to interact with people and how to run a professional business. Didn't eat this time but the Sunday roasts look excellent. It so nice to see such a beautiful corner pub thriving in London when so many others are been closed unfortunately. Looking forward to returning and this will certainly become our local. 5 stars.
S. C.
Always come to this bar when I stay in London. Great cellar bar also
T. J.
Warm fires, friendly staff, average food
E. A.
The venue is lovely and lively. We dined on the first floor and the atmosphere is so cozy and old fashioned. The food was very tasty, maybe not the best stake but the pies, starters and veggies were really good. Service was helpful, cheerful and patient with our group. Definitely recommended
A. P.
Very nice restaurant. Nice servers and good food. I would recommend a burger. The fish and chips is great, but everywhere in London offers fish and chips, so it's not a great idea to get. The server did take longer to come back to the table than I would except in the US, so if you are American, except the servers to be a little bit less attentive.
V. B.
We had Christmas drinks there with a group of friends. Quite a few of us had food, which came relatively quickly but nobody ever came to pick up the plates.
The service at the bar was friendly and efficient.
The raspberry and ginger cocktail was a winner!
M. G.
This is a great little old school pub. Good selection of beer without going overboard, and the staff were great. Nice little section outside if the weather is nice, and dog friendly. While I didn't eat, I did look at the stuff being served to other customers and it looked great. Great for a quiet pint. Lovely spot.
T. D.
Great location, great beers and superb service. Really enjoyed it and will definitely visit again.
B. K.
Great staff, beautiful pub, and a quiet road to sit with friends on. Cant speak for the food, but was great for drinks
A. L.
Staff were very welcoming and friendly and easily accommodated half of our group arriving late. Most of our food was very good and really tasty. There was a problem with one person's main dish, but they took it off the bill so that was good. I had the vegetarian roast dinner which was lovely.
A. B.
We come here once a year to have a drink for our friends birthday, followed by a cocktail downstairs. This pub is always full and with few tables to spare. Many regulars and locals. Aesthetically pleasing, I really like the wall of cask bells. A bit expensive, which probably comes with the location.
T. K.
The staff was friendly and service was excellent. The food was delicious. Good selection of beers. We chose this pub because it was close to our hotel but the food and service brought us back two days later. Cheers.
K. M.
Possibly the best Scotch eggs around. Great environment in a lovely peaceful mews off the beaten path. Definitely a dependable local, I've been going here on and off since 2007, wow, time flies and I'm not even living in London these days, but like a homing pigeon I return here to sit by the fire!
J. N.
Good pint of St Austells Proper Job. Busier than the other pubs that I went in. Wish I'd stayed longer.
L. W.
Wonderful experience, we had to come a couple of times to sample different foods and can't wait to come back. Charming atmosphere. A family pub and "jolly good" bar experience. Wait staff was warm, friendly and made you feel like you're a part of the community - not a tourist.
M. H.
Nice pub, many great beers and good food.
F. G. D.
Very nice and cozy English pub, I had a nice beer and a burger, excellent service and good quality food. If you want to het a nice dinner with pub food or just feel to have a pint if your favorite beer that's a good choice. I very recommend this pub
C. B.
This place has become mine and my colleagues local over the years. I love coming here on a Friday and unwinding over a few drinks. The staff have always been so welcoming and I class them more as friends. The food is delicious and I have befriended a few locals too.
T. C.
Great family meal for 15 of us! Arranged our pre-Christmas family meal as we all travel from across the south to come together. Chose the Mitre due to other reviews and that is only 10 minutes from Paddington. We were given one of the lovely upstairs room - the staff were spot on with service and food was delicious. Thank you so much.
L. V. D. D.
Just what's needed after a long stroll in the gardens. Solid beer and ale on tap... from English bitters to hoppy session IPA. Tasty vegan burger on vegan brioche with slender fries. Meltingly delicious vegan chocolate brownie with vegan ice cream. Forgot to take pictures because I was too busy eating. Great staff and friendly service. Good prices. Not to many smokers outside either. Highly recommend.
C. W.
Sat in the sun outside. Great salmon pie. Will go back for sure when around. Good vibe
A.
Nice pub near Lancaster gate station. It is very big and they make delicious food, the burger is my favourite. You don't get the usual cheap pub's food, but some nice quality food in my opinion. The drinks are a bit pricey, but understandable due to the location. I think the staff is very nice and helpful.
M. K. J.
Well worth a visit for a beer or drink! Great atmosphere, love the interior. The restaurant part was really cozy. Can't say I liked the food though. Not bad, but not great either. Go for the safe bets.
G. P.
The wait staff was really helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to make us welcome and happy. The food was simply delicious. The roast pork belly was perfect.
M. C.
Lovely atmosphere.
Good service.
food was lovely

Blinding mate...bit expensive for a normal geezer but hey, that's ol' london for ya innit...pint ah lagger £5.40 and a G & T £8.35...'ave it'
M. E. F.
Super friendly staff. Food would be better, anyway I would go back. Very nice atmosphere.
D. K.
Was staying at a hotel round the corner and needed somewhere for dinner. This was a very nice pub which had good selection of beers (although I wasn't drinking!) and a decent menu.
Inside the pub was decked out for Halloween and looked very good and very much a pub I could find myself drinking in if in the area. Service was friendly, very quick and attentive (it was a weekday evening but busy - nearly all seats taken plus a couple of people at bar).
Unfortunately the only vegetarian option on the main menu which I wanted was sold out (beetroot & goats cheese salad) although there was one other on the specials menu so vegetarians not completely left out. In the end I went for fish cakes which arrived very quickly (~10mins or less) and looked very inviting. Unfortunately they were lukewarm at best - didn't even properly wilt the spinach it was sitting on. I was extremely hungry so didn't send it back - flavours were good though so I imagine could have been nice.
Table next to me did have food delivered equally quickly, and I did notice their veg accompaniments were steaming away so hopefully my dish was an aberration rather than a symptom.
Overall I have to rate food as poor, but liked everything else about the place so would definitely give it another chance and hope the faults with my dish were a one-off.
B. S.
Great staff and a great selection of wine, beer and spirits. We had a knowledgeable bartender that gave us good recommendations and tips. We only had dessert and a cheese plate but both were good.

Cozy pub with fireplace!
I recommend parsnip potage.
V. M.
The place is good unfortunately no proper ale but good service and the Monk Fish and Prawns are brilliant.

Comfortable, attractive. little pub that we stopped in at for a drink and light meal after our 26 hour flight. All staff friendly and most knowledgable about their drinks and food on offer. Prices average for a Pub in that area, food was good and fresh. Recommended.
E. K.
Love ❤️ the atmosphere here! Great brew & main courses & desserts! Allow dogs 🐶❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A. C.
Popped in on a cold and rainy day. Had a shared pie platter between 2. They were absolutely delicious, highly recommend both the Steak and Ale and the Root Vegetable pies. They were sufficiently served accompanied with chips and a broth gravy.
A. D.
An actual 'local' worth seeking out. Solid selection of beer and a menu with several truly viable and delicious vegan selections. Walk around Kensington Gardens and work up an appetite; then seek out this lovely spot, just around the corner.
S. M.
Class venue. Here before scotland v england at the euros. Team were great! Whata a great pub/venue
R. E.
A pub with a great location and interesting history. The service is good, friendly and knowledgeable..
Food wise, it's a bit hit and miss. Visiting for a lunch was great, the ploughmans lunch is great. Visiting for dinner was a little disappointing, the steak that was served was unremarkable.
P. W. (.
Great place, and handy for a beer before getting a train out of Paddington 😀
S. S.
Very tasty food. Pies are excellent. Comforting atmosphere with roaring fires. Unfortunately some of the orders were forgotten and so a 1/4 of the guests were left to eat after everyone else had finished.
S. P.
Well-run Young's pub just off Bayswater Road near Lancaster Gate. Good staff and a beautiful interior. Food is often good but sometimes lacks attention. Not inexpensive- a relatively limited menu - you can feel the corporate bean-counter's influence. Expensive beer (+5£ pints) but that's par for the area.
The clientele are a mix of locals and tourists. So one night it will be heaving and the next empty. Interesting bar downstairs (separate entrance) often has interesting music
M. D.
Amazing hidden gem, just not an average pub. even that the pub is actually over the top cause its beer selection and food, what it make it special is that u have two other different areas inside the bulding, on top of the pub u will be impress by a cozy & elegant restaurant in which u can have a more family and friends dinner; and in the basement u can enjoy of a couple of after dinner drinks in their awesome underground cocktail bar that have live music!!!!
but must important of all what makes this place a must and where u will come back for sure is their staff, helpulf, funny and always with a smile in the face, make us felt like home.
C. L.
Still probably worth a visit, but looking a bit tired, beer was a little disappointing
E. S.
Lovely ambience and staff. Only had a drink but definitely want to come back

Great food and great people working here! Special thanks to Óscar!! Should definitely order their Fish n Chips and their homemade and the beef cake that are delicious. Also is really close to Hyde Park so you can make plans for a walk after coming here
Buena comida, buen ambiente y servicio excelente. Especialmente Óscar! Si habláis español, preguntad por él y dejaros recomendar!
前.
The staff is friendly. I got a hamburger. There was volume and it was very delicious! The ale was very delicious. There are many local people, but I don't think there is much difficulty in entering.
G. E.
Good traditional pub within 10 mins walk of Paddington station. Friendly staff, a good range of beer and wine and a nice food menu with some pub classics and more modern British options. They also have an open fire which is welcome in the winter!
D. L. M.
Very nice british pub. Surprisingly good quality selection of Vegetarian dishes, which were fantastic! The root vegetable pie was a winner! Very good selection of drinks, and very nice decor inside.
S. F.
Brilliant pub, really great beer and atmosphere. Food is decent. Has a good bar in the basement that puts on jazz nights.
One of the best pubs I've been to in London.
p.
Incredible food! They have an amazing chef. Loved having Christmas day dinner with them. Friendly and superb staff. Our experience was truly top notch.
P. H.
Very friendly service and lots of beer options to choose from. Not the busiest area in the evenings, but if you are out only for a few pints in a quite relaxed spot, for example after a stroll in the Hyde Park, this is great for that.
J. O.
This place is pretty nice. Great variety of beers, bottles and draught. The food is good as well. The staff treat first time tourist like they are long time regulars. If I'm ever back near hyde park, this will be my stop again. Thanks for the outstanding visit.

Love this beautiful old pub! They have a great drink selection, tasty food and friendly service. It’s conveniently located a few minutes walk from Lancaster Gate station. Definitely recommend it
K. B.
Lovely friendly staff. Great wholesome food. Nice touches with dog treats, beer and whiskey pairing. Highly recommended. Very comfortable welcoming place
K. B.
Excellent pub with good atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. They are a dog friendly pub near Hyde Park and offer dog treats and water for your furry friend for free. A great pick!

My family visited on 27 September 2018. The men's room had pee all over the floor, but other than that the place was pretty good. I do have a big problem with what the kitchen staff did to my elderly father...When he saw sauteed cabbage on the menu and asked for a side without the nuts and seeds, our waiter said sure we can do that. What came out of the kitchen with his main course was a side plate with a pile of vegetable scraps (looked like from the trash, but hope not) with hot cayenne pepper and very heavily salted all over. We are not dumb and neither are you kitchen staff. We thanked the waiter for taking it off the bill and would appreciate if you treat other customers more nicely. If you cannot modify something from the menu, just say "Sorry, but we cannot offer that." and that would have sufficed just fine instead of being childish.
H. P.
Assisted by our guide dog, we had 2 dinners there and would recommend The Mitre as a worm, friendly typical english pub, where dogs are welcone.Tasty meals, local and world wide craft beers and a good selection of Whiskys and Vodkas will complete your visit
J. S.
Staff were friendly. Food was adequate. Drink range was good. Unfortunately the downstairs ‘speakeasy’ was closed Thursday night which was one of the attractions that lured us here.
R. G.
Really lovely Youngs Pub with great selection of beers, wines and spirits. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere, able to blend traditional pub with young vibe.
S. H.
This is a great local with history building the backbone of the dining rooms. A good selection of drinks, the food is worthy of your hard earned dosh and the vibe is consistently warm and cozy. With Old Mary's, a new 'Speak Easy' style bar downstairs The Mitre has everything you could ask for in a local pub. Oh, and an easy stroll from Hyde Park...what more could you want?
S. B.
The bar at the front of the pub is a large, empty, echoey space. Prohibitively noisy for a relaxed conversation on a Friday evening. Space at the back is set aside for diners, leaving drinkers crammed into the front bar while tables remain empty in the cosier rooms at the rear. More could be made of the heritage features.
L. S.
Lovely atmosphere and great food! Nice outdoor space too
R. N.
My old stomping ground from the late 70s. When as an Aussie I was in the British Merchant Navy and took my leaves in England. Went back for a visit a year or so ago. Still a great pub.
j. b.
Decent pub and burgers. Service a bit slow and prices high but otherwise a decent pub
C. F.
We stayed at a nearby hotel and happened upon this pub.
Great beer selection (including plenty of real ale), very friendly staff and pleasant locals (albeit, a little quirky ;).
S. H.
What a great little find, not far from Hyde Park and tube stations. Cosy, friendly and very welcoming atmosphere. Amazing selection of drinks to suit all types of drinkers. Will definitely come back here.
A. A.
Really nice atmosphere and decor.
Out of the main high street's hustle and bustle.
Drinks are slightly pricey but so is the case of every single London tavern.
M. F.
Best wishes to everyone at the Mitre! We will miss this gem of a local pub and the staff that treated us so well over the last 4 years. James, Eric, Roland, Dora, et al. thanks for the great beer, food, and service. Look us up if you find yourself in Austin, Tx.
E. “. E. D.
Lovely place, slightly off the beaten track. Don't be shy to ask where it is. Lovely decor inside
R. L.
Great pub, good atmosphere. There aren't many good pubs in this area, in particular if you live here and don't want a tourist trap but this is definitely one!
G. S.
Great Youngs pub in a good spot. Unexpected treat in an area devoid of that much choice.
Outside seating overlooking mews is an unusual architectural feature.
Good choice of beers.
S. T.
Classic English pub
N. R.
A really great pub. Well worth a visit. Would be a firm 5 stars but the service is not particularly good. Though maybe I just caught it on a couple of bad days.
K.
Great Sunday roast, great pub, v friendly service.
T. B.
Great looking pub, both inside and outside. Food is very good. Service can be terrible, but it just passes as OK at the best of times.
R. A.

D. H.
Went for a Day out from Reading to London Started at Paddington straight from the Station.
Ended up staying in the Mitre from the start till 8.00pm watching the Rugby meeting some great people making friends.
Warm friendly Pub Old & Traditional feel but with a Modern Twist, great food and Beer, Loved this Pub will defo go back again next time i am in London.
Л. П.
A good place to visit. Especially for the guests of nearby hotels. Good ales ("Youngs' Special" is recommended), good food (Fish and Chips, Cumberland sausages with mashed potato), friendly staff.
S. R.
This is a lovely old pub, beautiful Victorian interior and roaring fire in the winter. Serves a fairly good selection of beers and ales, use a few craft things on tap, and the food looks very good though I haven't tried it personally. The only let down is the poor quality service - the bar staff consistently have no idea what they are doing.
M. L.
Excellent Pub. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Very good ale. Lovely food. Will definitely return.
L. N.
Lovely pub: super friendly staff, beautiful and cozy interior, nice food and drinks. Best one in the area for sure!
K. L.
Rotating selection of beers and great food. A pub that's always busy with locals having a good time. Vegan chocolate cake was great
T. H.
A pleasant surprise even though we could only get a seat outside. A nice little corner of Bayswater and a friendly atmosphere. I'll be back and looking forward to trying out the cocktail bar downstairs.
C. L.

This is a wonderful pub :
Outside tables on a quiet street
Fantastic, friendly service at the bar and wait staff. Family friendly, great beer selection, really nice
D. V.
Ahm I was really confused with this club. At first the service was great, kind smiling people, then again a couple of moments later the attitude was completely different. Was ignored for more than 15 minutes. No more smiles. Grumpy cat has entered the building. Food was ok but nothing special.
T.
Loved it here when we went for Sunday lunch beautiful, traditional, well-maintained charming pub with a great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, and excellent roasts.
Y. S.
Very nice place. Nice deasin. The food is wonderfull .The staff are

M. O.
A good standard gastropub. If you're looking for a traditional Sunday roast, this is the place. With a cocktail bar in the cellar, it can also be a good place to mingle with tourists.
L. M.
Good range of beers, nasty frozen food, unbearable in the warm weather as no a.c. or fans. Staff pushy for service charge. Better pubs in the area so I would avoid in the future
M. H.
Excellent food and a good beer selection. Charming, classic pub feel with very nice staff.
w.
Nice pub good staff and good mixture of music over the sound system not the usual middle of the road pap

Welcoming staff and a good selection of drinks including some well named craft beers. I enjoyed the atmosphere and my time there.
