Boasting an exotic tropical Mediterranean decor, Oriole was an exquisite and glamorous surprise that exceeded my expectations. The band playing was lovely, the cocktails had an unexpected twist to it but was very enjoyable, the food was savoury however the only downside was it took ages to be served (so food for thought: don't come in when you are hungry) All in all, this has become one of my favourite spots to wine and dine to live music. Special commendations to the lovely staff as well. Cheers!

Really nice experience had in Oriole! We didn’t make reservation but the staffs are so nice and welcoming, they squeezed us in and switched a even better sit later. Really good service! Drinks are also remarkable, the menu is super creative. The atmosphere and jazz live is just as vibe as I imagined! Would definitely recommend and come back!!!

Oh I had been missing a good jazz night for so long! Oriole bar is absolutely one of the best jazz clubs I've been to in London; first of all, we got lucky because this amazing duet was playing, Baraka Jazz, check them out on Instagram, they really deserve it. Just walking down the stairs and immersing yourself into the vibe makes you feel like in a movie, the chattering of the people, the band playing, the dimmed lights and classy decor, the cocktail bar... and what a choice of cocktails, the beautifully designed menu introduced us to a geographically classified selection of drinks and the way they were presented to us, even the glasses, and definitely the taste, left us so satisfied! We also had some food, mostly small bytes, which usually could be a risky move in a bar in London but I really have to say I was so surprised at how delicious, delicate and flavoursome everything was. Spectacular night in this great little gem of a jazz club, highly recommend to all jazz and live music lovers.

Omg I loved this place. My partner suggested it from when he’d visited in 2018. Music, food, cocktails 10/10. They were kind enough to move us to better seats as the place freed up. We thoroughly enjoyed, ended up staying there for 3.5 hours !

This place is amazing. It has live music every night I think. The band that was playing while we were there was great fun and played a great mix of music. The cocktails are something else - they are so beautifully presented and are very quirky. I didn't have the food but saw what others tables had and it looked and smelled really good. Quietly tucked away within the Spitalfield’s meat market and underground is where you can find Oriole. We arrived around at 8:30pm and the man at the door was friendly and we managed to get a walk in table. I’d recommend booking in advance as it can get busy 9:30pm onwards. There was a reminder that there is a live music fee of £10 starting at 9pm. The live band was really good but it’s a shame that I’m certain seats, you cannot see the action. The drinks are interesting with unique ingredients. The food is definitely overpriced and not great but you go there for the drinks. At the end we checked the receipt and noticed that had added an extra £5 per person for music which we found odd and queried this. The staff member explained that they charge another £5 for live music after 11:30pm which was strange. The staff member was courteous and took the amount of the bill as she realised we did not know of the additional charge.

Absolutely STERLING evening. I would give 10 stars if I could. Friend booked a table with the dinner package for her birthday. We arrived and were seated straight away by the most lovely Maitre D’s. Our waiter was fantastic the entire evening and was very interactive and fun. The music.. ohhhh the music.. two words.. Aisha Khan. What an incredible voice that lit up the room, she was incredible. The food was also out of this world, we all had the Burratina to start, for my main I had the Bavette steak which was cooked to perfection and then the brownie for dessert. Delicious! The cocktails were on POINT with weird and wonderful concoctions that really set things apart. I would 1,000% recommend this to everyone and will DEFINITELY be returning again and again. Thanks so much to everyone for last night, you’ve got customers for life here!

Such a fun space! Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the range of cocktails. A bit disappointing that not all the seats face the stage, which made for some uncomfortable sitting, but a very enjoyable experience overall.

Love this bar! Loved the whole theme inside and all the artefacts dotted around The staff were so courteous and friendly, and did a wonderful job at introducing each of our cocktails. The food was splendid- had a burratina to start and steak as a main.. perfectly cooked! And the sweet potato chips were probably the best ones we've had! Each cocktail was so different and unique to anywhere we've been before and they were all really well made The live pianist was great too! A variety of jazz (all based around the moon in light of Saturday's blue moon), with singing and the flute! Fantastic experience overall and we already can't wait to go back!

What an absolute hidden gem, cocktail par excellence place, below the ground, with attentive service and music - jazz. I had my birthday dash there with 15 people and they have been impressed. The drinks are creatively put together, the garnishes are also well thought through, I loved it.

Great cocktails bar! Amazing cocktails decent food menu…..canapés were nice, especially the pork belly and the crab ones. Also tried the octopus(a bit too much chargrilled for my taste) but overall a very decent fare. The drinks are simply amazing. Tried so many of them that didn’t even clicked any photos…..will definitely be doing on my next visit… lol! They have live jazz performances, the staff is very attentive and the service is friendly, good ambience…..overall a very good vibe…..!

I love it, the food is incredible the music is Amazing and the best of all is the service, definitely becoming a regular. I was a walk in but is better to make a reservation and in my humble opinion I believe is better to choose the dinner deal to enjoy all music sets. I visited on a Friday.

This is the sister bar to the legendary night jar in old Street. The location in Smithfield market makes it feel like a secret speak easy. Nice friendly getting and we were promptly seated downstairs. The ambiance is nice but not as cosy as the night jar. The drinks service was a little too slow after we were seated and our first drink order wasn't taken until about 20 minutes of being seated. We ended up ordering a round whilst we had one on the go to offset the wait time. The service evened out later in the evening however. Cocktails were spot on though lacked the drama of the night jar but very well made. Food was tasty I had vegetarian options all of which were high quality.

Really happy I found this little place - via Google Maps - as I'd never heard of it despite being here for years. It's a proper New York style cocktail bar, low lighting and bar seating as well as regular tables and benches. We didn't stay for the band but there's live music each night. Cocktails are largely experimental but mostly great. The Acadia (Bourbon and peanut butter based drink) was my favourite, though there's definitely something for all tastes. Some drinks are a bit gimmicky, served in funny looking containers etc, but very interesting nonetheless.

One of my favorite bars to chill and enjoy good cocktails, I believe the vibe changes with the live music. Sometimes you are fortunate to have a very cool old school blues, that make the place even more special, but when it comes down to what you go there for, it doesn't fail, great drinks in a very particular environment. Could keep on going back again and again and again! Food is also awesome, their burger, their desserts, everything :) Back again for the collaboration with tales and spirits (so awesome) great cocktails, great vibe! Loving it!

I almost never had a culinary experience on such a high level. Amazing bar food cooked to perfection, even satisfying my head chef companion. The cocktails are a work of art and if you're lucky enough to catch a seat at the bar, you can see the passion and skill in the bartender's every move. The service staff is extremely proficient in their care for you, and the overall atmosphere is luxurious and relaxing at the same time. I still am overwhelmed by this bar!

The cocktails here are so creative, delicious and beautifully presented - it is an absolute delight ordering a new one and seeing what the talented bar staff come up with next. My only regret is not having a high-enough alcohol tolerance to be able to drink my way through the whole menu...

Came here on a Tuesday night for a rum masterclass that was more like a rum beginners class. Headed to the bar area afterwards. Gorgeous and exotic decor (guess to match the exotic/exploration themed cocktail menu?) but quite dead with only a few tables occupied. Cocktails that make you go “ooooh” for their presentation and not necessarily “yum.” Underwhelmed by a couple cocktails recommended by the waiter but thoroughly enjoyed a cocktail with a donut that the waiter tried to steer me away from saying it was bitter and tasted like anise (it didn’t). Food was stellar, especially the bao and duck/mushroom dish.

Amazing, creative, and delicious cocktails. Many, almost all of which I've never tried or even heard of. The jazz music is good. The food is tasty. The place is quite pricey. We ended paying 70 GBP for four tapas and two cocktails. Nevertheless, it's also an experience where almost everything is right. So, if you have the money, I can definitely recommend.

Fun underground venue with fun cocktails and live jazz. Went here after work with friends on a Friday evening. Would recommend making a booking, as walk-in vacancies are limited. It's an expensive bar, but the quality of service, cocktails and music were all very good. Definitely a cute spot for a date.

The lesser part of going to Oriole is actually getting into the place. The entrance is not particularly welcoming and neither are the first minutes where you are asked to wait at the door, then go stand at the top of the stairs and wait again, until you are ‘allowed’ to walk downstairs… Seriously? It felt a little contrived… or so I thought. The reason for the wait is that patrons are guaranteed top service once walking into the actual bar area. Nothing is left to chance and the service was absolutely impeccable. Our experience at Oriole was amazingly good actually and you end up savouring the cocktails, not unlike a Michelin starred meal with many different gustatory layers, different flavours and unusual combinations that were in perfect harmony while nothing was overpowering... well except for the bill, which will very likely sober you up ;-) We also enjoyed the music, but the cocktails were the stars of the night.

One word, stunning. This cocktail bar is the perfect place for either an intimate or larger affair. The live bands are very well suited to the feel of the place and the layout means that although it’s loud enough to feel like a night out, you’ve also got space to show some moves, it doesn’t spoil things for those wanting a more intimate dialogue. The table service also means drinks are always delivered without a bustle to the bar and the staff are always to hand, not in an intrusive manner, and quick to help get that order in. Two things to be wary of. It’s not cheap, not in a bad way but don’t expect this to be a frugal evening. Once you’ve had cocktails from here, or the sister bar NightJar, you’ll find it very difficult to be satisfied by the competition.

Great jazz music which you better book for or you'll have quite a wait. Cocktails are ok, but underwhelming, over the top presentation for a ridiculously priced cocktail. Basically a Caipirinha, but out of a wooden cup with a wooden straw. They set something on fire, which looks nice but burnt the straw so it tasted off. Fermented sugar with it. All nice and cool but not worth 25 minute wait for the drink for £14

I love this bar! It is a quirky location (walking to the door is often an "are you sure it's this way?" moment) The drinks are to superb and all come with a story and sometimes a special way to drink them. Really cool place and very nice decor, tried around 6 different cocktails and loved all of them. The best part is that each comes in a totally different glass/cup/setting. The service is fast and the waitress knew the menu in and out which help me to decide what drinks I want. Great food too!

We went on a Saturday night. The bar had a good atmosphere, it was busy but not too crowded due to the table booking system. We really enjoyed the live music. The cocktails were definitely a highlight - they were beautifully presented and full of flavour and interesting textures. Unfortunately, the stools we were seated on were a bit uncomfortable but there were lots of tables that looked more comfortable. Would definitely come back.

Great speakeasy with brilliant service! Cocktails are excellent too and all served in quirky different ways and glasses. Only downside, which is not a fault of the establishment, when it is very busy people tend to talk over the band playing which takes away from the live music experience. It seems some just go for somewhere nice to drink forgetting that it's actually the music that people are going there to enjoy. But this is the only drawback. I've still always managed to have a really good time. If you want to enjoy the music and cocktails more, a weekday is probably better for you.

Unfortunately my expectations were set a bit too high and so the visit left me feeling underwhelmed. The band were very impressive (7 quid cover charge on a Wednesday eve though 🤔) as was the drinks menu, which sounded and looked great. We started with some champagne that tasted like it had been exposed to heat and some point since bottling as the flavour tasted horrible and cooked. After being asked if I knew anything about champagne (insert a little bit of the bubbly meme) we managed to change the drinks and the cocktail was nice. The toilets were a bit of a state (before I entered!). Overall not what I expected from allegedly the 8th best bar in the world?

All I can say is wow. The Craftsmanship in this place is out if this world! I've never been to a place that serves cocktails this way. Mixology at it's best Every cocktail is extremely thought out from the liquor used to the garnish and way of presentation. It helps also that in the background someone is playing live music and singing. The server knew every cocktail to a T. She explained it well and when I was overwhelmed I just told her what I liked and she brought me a delicious cocktail. The bites were also fantastic. I feel like this place is a must even if you don't like fancy cocktails. The menu itself can be overwhelming. It's cocktails based on different regions in the world. I encourage to try it. You probably need to make reservations certain days. We were lucky since it was a Monday so it was easy to get in.

It's a great place to to take someone you want to impress. They have an impressive selection of hard liquor. We went on a gin night. The snacks are small, bite size and the prices high. Just tell the waitress what kind of flavours you like and the bar man will experiment and make something to your liking. I would definitely go again

This is a nice looking hidden gem in the heart of Smithfields market. Quite difficult to find makes it quite charming once you get in there. With a live band playing some jazz makes a great atmosphere for a few drinks. The only problem with the place is how pretentios the waiters make it look. Even when coming here within a group of friends they won't even allow you to stand at your own reserved table, and when they serve you they'll do it with certain disdain that ruins the atmosphere.

Visited with family whilst on a short trip to London. Situated at the poultry market it's a location that you wouldn't expect to find a venue of this calibre. Drinks were very good (we sampled beers and cocktails as a group) and were very reasonable in price for a London bar. The atmosphere was fantastic and the live band - The Boneshakers were great, they contributed to the pre-war feel of the venue and really completed the night. The venue operates a table service system and will add a small surcharge to the bill for the live performance when they are on, but this is very much worth it. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Easily the best place for cocktails in London. I wasn't sure at first as they had so much foliage over cocktails (I hate that kind of fuss, want the flavours!) but totally worth it here. One of the few places I have been to London more than a few times and its easily the place we recommend friends for birthdays, dos, to show someone London, bring my mother in law, wedding after party - the lot! Staff are amazing, door staff are always funny, its fun going somewhere that seems buzzing but never over full, and 'hidden'. Despite being pretty it is never pompous. Yes the drinks are still expensive (£12-15 I think) but you really cant have more than 2 or 3. Also the menu is v v extensive with exotic ingredients which takes forever - just pick one - it will be good!

One of the most original cocktail bars I've ever been to. The ambiance has a slightly anachronistic vibe for me, which I loved. Their cocktails are strange, but delicious and vastly different from each other. For example, the Ollantaytambo is a pisco based cocktail that is served in mug with Peruvian motifs and has corn kernels and baby corn on top. A friend had one that you would drink from a mushroom-shaped glass and had actual mushrooms on top of the glass. It sounds odd, but the combination worked quite well. Drinks were good, we went for the Mexican Chicken, I asked the waitress would it be big enough to share she said no. The dish came and it was basically a starter. We mentioned to her that is was a very small portion she agreed and then confirmed it was an appetiser. I gave feedback to another colleague that the waitress could of advised us more on the size of the dish as we went there for an actual dinner. He apologised and gave us refund on the service charge. This is one of the best cocktail bars I’ve been to in the world. The location is unassuming- you approach the entrance under the Smithfield market, so there’s this industrial air about, with butchers in their whites milling about. We didn’t have a booking, but got in with no issue on a Wednesday night. The band playing was perfect. The young Colin Firth-esque frontman of the trio was a delight to behold. And the decor and vibe of the space is such that you want to stay and get comfortable. Very open but dark, yet still easy to have a conversation with a companion without shouting.
