Reviews of Penny Bar & Café
A. F.Penny Café at The Old Vic is a Waterloo gem!! The staff are so friendly, engaging and also extremely talented. It's my go to, whether for breakfast for a vegan pastry/doughnut and coffee or for a hearty lunch. The food is very reasonably priced, fresh and super delicious. Every couple of weeks they seem to revise the menu and give us some more amazing dishes! Definitely give this one a try!
The late night bar is also super fun - the team again are so passionate and the menu is insane!
P. C.I preferred it in its previous incarnation as the Pit Bar. It's still open later than ang of the pubs in the area, so a good place for a late night drink, but the redecoration has given it more of a daytime cafe feel than that of a cool bar.
N. D.Pre-ordered drinks on app and got a 20% discount. Also it seems like the actors maybe come by for drinks after - we saw Rufus Sewell and Tim Key! Good live music too.
s. p.Nice enough small Bar..I like the food choice.Bit expensive, but at least it's of a high quality .Opens till quite late .The site says 2.oo a.m, but I would check that, because sometimes it closes earlier.
C. A.Formerly known as The Pit. Open late, but rather too coldly decorated for my liking. Probably best for a post-theatre drink rather than a visit.
E. G.As far as late bars go, this is the only one I know where you can actually have a chat without hurting your voice box. Very chilled atmosphere.

A. J.Good spot for a coffee if you are in the area, good Wifi and a fun buzz to the place with the staff from the Old Vic using it as their meeting space, and good coffee.
