Reviews of Phoenix Arts Club

A great night out. Some quick table service with an app (was a bit clunky to start, but then was easy) and some great entertainment. The Burns Night party was so much fun, with a great variety of acts and performances. Great sound and light and it feels like it doesn't matter where you sit, you'll always get a great view and there's of course... More audience interaction.
L. T.
Awesome hidden gem - great vibe, lots of fun shows. The duelling pianos night is the absolute best: high-energy and raucous sing-along with two fantastic piano players leading the charge 🤩
L. S.
I went to see Gingzilla perform here and was not disappointed. From start to finish, I had the best time ever. The club and the staff gave off a really welcoming, positive vibe. Once shown to our table, everything was explained on how to download the app for the food/drink service. The sour dough pizza was delicious, and the drinks (cocktails) were to die for. Best part of the night for myself was when Gingzilla/Benjamin ❤️ pulled me up on stage to sing with him. Amazing.

Best night out in London. Millie and Grace on the bar were phenomenal. Amazing customer service and made me feel so safe in their venue. Paddy supported the entire time. Cannot recommended enough. Perfect place to hang with friends and feel completely supported by staff the entire time. See you soon!

We discovered this place a few years ago and were delighted to be able to return after lockdowns etc. It’s simply a delightful place; really friendly and relaxed, and just joyous once it gets into its stride. Musical theatre fans should definitely take a look at what’s on here, as it’s a real theatreland institution. Our absolute favourite thing is Duelling Pianos every Wednesday: 2 wonderful pianist/singers take all kinds of requests from an increasingly lively crowd. It’s such good fun and quite possibly my favourite place in London.
A. H.
We've been to the Friday Night in Soho show many times and loved it each time... but having Ivy Paige back takes it all to the next level. Loved it last night and will be going each time we are in London The ordering APP works a treat and the stone baked pizzas are well worth a try. Ended up having a late night of it as we stayed for the late night show on the Piano.... which was amazing.
J. L.
Independently owned and run, went for comedy show and had a great time. Stayed after for drinks, intimate feel.
P. L.
We provided cheerleaders for the Super Bowl night at the club, and we had such a good time performing there! Beautiful venue and stage. Peter, and the whole staff, were so friendly and professional! Brilliant experience!

A fantastic spot with a fantastic crew. Went with a crowd for dinner and it was absolutely top notch.
Millie was our server and she was absolutely fantastic. Paddy was also a credit to the place and made our night all the more fun. A really lovely, personable experience. 100% recommend.
P. S.
If you’re a musical theatre fan YOU CANNOT TOP this place for a night out before or after a show. Sure, they do great food n drinks, but it’s the atmosphere that makes this joint a huge win. Just go there!! You’ll not regret your choice. Best night out in London!!!!
J. H.
Extraordinary night out! I went for the experience and without much expectations and I was pleasantly surprised by the super friendly staff, the venue which is very intimate and the audience was super chill and friendly. Of course the host Michael Twaits and the guests were super! Special bravo for burlesque artist, Eliza D'élite. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Will definitely come back
D. D.
Best venue ever. I’ve seen several shows at the Phoenix Arts Club and they are always superb and a brilliant night out! The venue is full of character. The drinks are divine! Staff are always welcoming and friendly. This place is truly a treasure. They always have top quality entertainers and ticket prices are more than fair. I can not recommend this place highly enough.

We bought tickets for the NYE event at the Phoenix Arts Club but as my partner got Covid just a few days before NYE, we are no longer able to attend. I sent them an email to check if it was possible to get a refund (without much hope) and they were so responsive and understanding! They gave us a full refund and wished him a speedy recovery.
It's a shame we are missing this event but hopefully we'll be able to attend to one of their shows soon!
Thank you!

Had a brilliant night here with friends on Friday 26th. Great cabaret followed by a singer, superb atmosphere and everyone was up dancing. Staff were fabulous - very professional whilst also friendly and having fun and adding to the atmosphere. Special mention to Milly who seemed to be rushing around all evening but always with a big smile on her face and with time to exchange a few words with customers.
Have been on a Thursday before and loved it but Friday was something else ! X
I. M.
An absolute staple of the West End! This friendly cabaret bar programmes a variety of shows from the weird to the wonderful! Drag, burlesque, standup comedy, magic, duelling pianos the list goes on. Love this place and the community it brings together.
E. H.
A group of 6 of us came from Ireland for a few days and we booked in to have dinner there, the staff were nothing short of fantastic, kind, friendly and personable. Special thanks to Millie and Paddy who were so accommodating. They were also mighty craic and the food and drinks were lovely.
J. H.
What a wonderful venue! The most welcoming staff, Paddy & Dash are Legends. Milly made me feel welcome when I come down on my own! Fantastic Drink selections 🍾🥂
N. T.
Amazing - Can recommend enough!!!
Brilliant venue, brilliant staff, great value and a central location, what more could anyone ask for? We used the Phoenix for our recent launch event and the staff were amazing and professional, coped with last minute changes and EVERYONE had a great time - 100% recommend
M. G.
We came here on our mini moon for show.
I love this place. The atmosphere is like nothing I have experienced before. Its a true hidden gem of soho. The acts are they most talented inderviduals. There is somthing for everyones taste. The staff are the nicest I have ever come across. We will be back in April!
L. H.
The Phoenix Arts Club is a total delight. Brilliant ambience, brilliant staff and a fabulous mix of entertainment. I'd defy anyone not to have a good time there!
F. T. B.
A fantastic late night venue. Thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment on offer, staff are wonderful and friendly and possess a great knowledge of the theatre world! A real hidden gem that I could not recommend more!
N. W.
Went to London for a few days away and stumbled upon this gem after a show at the Phoenix theatre and spoke to a girl handing out voucher for free entry on a Tuesday so we decided to take a chance and went inside. The Phoenix Arts Club was the highlight of our getaway by far. There were two men playing the piano to songs everyone’s knew and requested so the atmosphere was buzzing. You could request songs via your phone which gave you an excitement rush when yours was chosen. The drinks were reasonably priced for London and the staff were kind and welcoming and were dancing behind the bar. Could not recommend more to anyone who wants a quirky experience in London, I just wish there was something like this closer to home in the lakes now. Definitely will be returning when we’re next in London.
T. C.
One of the most welcoming, fun, and all round best places you have a night out at in central London. You absolutely won't regret it.
P. S.
Super super atmosphere. Bar staff are very welcoming and switched on. Triffic entertainment on the night we went - they had a show on and the audience sang almost as well as the performers! Tremendous.
W. L.
Beautiful venue, amazing drinks and staff super helpful and accommodating, particularly the lovely girl who served us. Loved the vibe and will defo be returning. Would recommend to anyone for an unbeatable night!
C. F.
What a Soho Treasure!
Very intimate little place with great entertainment and friendly, welcoming staff.
French (I think) guy behind the bar with wonderful dry sense of humour and Milly who couldn’t be more helpful made this a place I’ll definitely come back to again.
J. C. I.
Could not fault the night out we had at this joint. Man oh man the atmosphere is terrific. Oh, and they do food and drinks too. Sort of a sideline to the show(s) lol. Recommended
J. T.
What a lovely venue with amazing staff. The place breathes theatre and I had a lovely time at the open mic night where both staff and guests performed during the night! A must to visit!
D. M.
Had a brother’s wedding here. Had an excellent time. What more is there to say? Lovely staff. That too.
D. A.
Well well well, Milly paddy, dash.. absolute legends man. Wouldn't have it any other way. I've been at least 765 bars in my short life.. this is the apex. I felt the alcohol in my veins and the banter in my heart.
J. S.
Milly and Paddy and Dash are amazing people. I love them. The phoenix would be nothing without these absolute legends. I love the phoenix.
K. B.
Come here multiple times a week with my work friends always 10/10 service and a special shout-out to one of the staff members Milly who just makes you feel at home there! Loads of love to the whole team <33
M. M.
Wonderful hidden gem member's club for the arts profession, a popular for the theatre and media staff that work and perform in the area.
Memberships cost from £100 per year and include access to the club with unlimited coffee in the day, entrance to some of the shows held in the members lounge. The most amazing thing though is the incredible food they serve at such an incredible price. I'm still craving the chicken Kiev aptly named the world's best chicken Kiev.
You can also just pay the entrance to a show and enjoy the place too if you don't become a member.
I. E.
One of the great venues to gig at. Marvellous. The tradition, legend, continuing brilliance.
C. B.
Lovely homemade food, quirky theatrical decor, great bar, nice pre-theatre menus, we all loved the place; kids and oldies alike. Wish I'd have known about this place before. The perfect dining stop when you're in the Tottenham Court Road area.
K. B.
Great venue. Top night out. Great location for before or after West End Theatre.
L. R.
Amazing venue with great shows and staff! Always a fun night out! 🥳
B. C.
A group of friends and I had a surprise baby shower here. The front line staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating from the moment I booked to the very end. The food was delicious and fresh. The entertainment was fabulous and could have stayed much later. This is a very charming place and would definitely go back again.
M. S.
Millie was great, served us at the table, albeit without Kraken at her disposal.
V. O. (.
One of my favorite spots in London. A big focus on showtunes and an amazing atmosphere where all us theater geeks come together and enjoy the night.
You do normally need to be a member (or an artist) to get in but you can buy tickets for specific events as well depending on what they have going on.
C. D.
Amazing atmosphere. So much fun, staff very friendly and helpful.
M. K.
One of the funnest (is that a word?) evenings out our group had on our visit from America. An intimate, Caberét-like setting to see live performances. We saw Michael Twait’s drag performance. Friendly staff. Decent cocktails. Lively crowd. This establishment that welcomes all comers (LGBTQ+) and those welcoming of same.
A. B. (.
Hands down my favourite place in London, I visit every time I’m in the capital, The fantastic host keeps you entertained along with a pianist and a rotation of the best acts, If your lucky you will even get the barmen giving you a number on the piano…
C. J. G.
Out of sight theatreland bar. Great selection of beers with friendly staff and crowd.
D. S.
Had an amazing time, bartenders and host were the best!
J. C.
The best time. One of my favourite nights out!
M. A.
Tote-ally cozy bar! I will definitely recommend it :)
A. J.
Excellent place for first timers. It was difficult to appreciate the decor as it was quite dark. On the day we attended there was a piano duel. It was spectacular and the quality of the music was high. The staff were friendly. This is a private members club but to attend the show there was a charge of £10 for non members. I had a great time and enjoyed the piano duel!!The club has a pub feel to it, which may not be for everyone but overall fantastic ambience!
Z. S. (.
My favourite spot in Soho, a hidden gem with great shows! I regularly finish my week there, enjoying the Sunday cabaret show, with a G&T and the gorgeous host Ivy Paige. I am not friends with the owners, I genuinely love the place this much! :D
P. Z.
Truly a unique experience, the venue just exudes history and quality. The staff are impeccable in service and conversation. The bar staff are great and prices are fair for the West End, but the true highlight is the performances. We went on Thursday which is the open mic night and were blown away but back-to-back singing that you'd could only experience at a musical. Simply outstanding.
A. D.
Great, old school, spot where you can get a decent drink and a seat smack bang in the centre of town on a Friday night. Quirky but good. Recommended.
M. D.
I had dinner and drinks there a week ago, it was one of the best nights I had in London! The staff were lovely, the food was amazing and the entertainment was 20 out of 10! Really amazing evening, the atmosphere was fantastic! Will return again soon!
K. M.
This venue is easily the best in London for dinner, drinks, entertainment, and performers.
The food is amazing, everything is well priced, and the staff are second-to-none.
If you visit the city and you haven't been to The Phoenix Artist Club, you've not seen the best of London!
C. G.
As weary folks trudge their way through life on the busy streets of Charing Cross Road, feet underground is a veritable oasis of joy, community and acceptance.
The Phoenix Artists Bar is a an all embracing venue where friends get together, media types can work in peace and where life lovers can feast on tasty tucker, thirst-quenching drinks and performances from the most talented artists around.
The vibe is friendly, the staff warm and welcoming and each night you will stumble across the most varied people, all with a wonderful unique story to tell.
The world outside might be noisy and dirty, but below stairs the Phoenix Artist Bar is a delightful, peaceful safe haven that will warm the coldest heart.
J. C.
Had our office party. Food was better than I has anticipated although there was no choice, just soup, Christmas dinner and Christmas pud. Bizarre atmosphere for food as is far more a bar than restaurant but my colleagues liked this. Very talented man on the piano taking requests. Good night out if you want it loud and stagey, not for the quiet and sophisticated.
J. F.
Great little venue, superb Saturday night cabaret show
C. A.
I've only ever been on the "The West End's Musical Theatre Open Mic" night which I highly recommend!
Great beers
Amazing venue
Fantastic staff
Superb caliber of regular singers
Colin the host is a legend! And Michael Webborn on the piano is astonishing!!
It's a shame it's on a Thursday but it's most definitely worth suffering on Friday for it!
Again I highly recommend going!
B. D. B.
This venue is a stronghold in the cabaret community. Putting on amazing shows for the public and truly supporting new artists. Peter and Stuart have supported my work as an artist ever since I first worked with them as a burgeoning burlesque performer, helping me grow, giving me feedback and providing continuous opportunities to perform and improve. Many of us in the community owe this venue tenfold for their support and their dedication to artists.
L. M.
We held a book launch at The Phoenix Arts Club and the event proved to be a huge success. The hospitality and service we received from all the staff at the club were simply amazing. Everything went to plan and without a hitch. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Phoenix Arts Club to anyone thinking of holding an event in central London.

Such a great time on Thursday night. Food was lovely and excellent value. Cocktails were fab, wine was very reasonable and good quality. And then musical theatre karaoke was just brilliant. Will 100% be back.
A. M.
A great little gem in the middle of the west end. Steeped in history and providing a venue for performance in the basement of the Phoenix theatre this place hasn't lost its character. You can feel the walls breathing a thousand stories, each proformance leaving a little of itself behind.
The restaurant was full and the atmosphere jolly. The bar staff with friendly and quick and efficient. It was a real pleasure to be in this space.

First time we visited the club was prior to seeing Chicago at the Phoenix Theatre where we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal in very relaxed surroundings. Revisited prior to seeing Come From Away (again at the Phoenix Theatre) and quite apart from the food believe they lay on entertainment so certainly a good place to spend a few hours relaxing when in London
A. W.
Friendly staff who looked after us brilliantly on one of their really buzzing nights. We were even asked if we would like to go back after the show we were going to see for their open mic night. Fantastic staff. Brilliant food. Highly recommended.

I lived in London almost 4 years ago, like 6 or 7 years ago, working on the best job I had in Bradley's Spanish bar (you also have to visit it), and I remember that Phoenix Arts Club was in the same area, One of The best places I've been, not only in London, is a private club, but you can go and enjoy the shows if you pay a non-speculative ticket, the atmosphere is excellent, I was talking to friends about the time I spend in The UK and the Phoenix Arts Club come to mind automatically. I would love to go back to those times.
Sorry about my bad english, but you can see that I spent much more time hanging out than learning English.
Hahahahahahahaha...
H. B.
Gents performing were amazing and the food!!!!!! Wow!!! The most amazing kiev I've ever eaten ever!!!
Starter, main and pudding all faultless, and the price was incredible.
The posters were fascinating to look at and think the place is fab!!!!!!!!!
Really a place I would love to return to 10/10
G. K.
Would give it six stars if I could. Been a member here for six years now. Truly, it’s a haven in Soho for those looking for a lively but friendly place to drink. The owners, management and staff are top class. And Sunday night’s show with Vanity is a barrel of laughs. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
N. M.
Quaint venue with a great atmosphere. I have been here a few times and have enjoyed each visit. The food is limited but usually good, drinks are super cheap and you'll sometimes run into a famous face (or two) and get a live band. Also, if you're not a member and plan on going on a Friday or Saturday it would be best if you arrived early.
Z. T.
This is the place for a fantastic night out in London. Even as a foreigner, the staff could not be nicer and the entertainment is always spot-on. I always make sure to fit in a visit when I'm in the city & show it off to my friends.
C. C.
Great busy private members club just off Charing Cross Road with regular cabaret
H. C.
I visit this club regularly. It's a great place for intimate concerts and relaxed evening entertainment. There is a Brasserie available Monday to Saturday which can be booked ahead of time and although I haven't eaten there, the menu looks quite varied and reasonably priced.
O. B.
Came here after dinner on a Saturday for the West End singalong. At 8:30 we were basically the only people in the bar so the evening started out very slow - the poor guy performing on the piano must have found it awkward performing to such a tiny audience. But as the night went on more and more people trickled into the bar and the singalong became, well, a singalong! By the time the second performer took the stage (can't remember her name but she was a wonderful singer!) the place was heaving with 'creative types' who I assume were all industry people coming here after the theatre performances finished. This kind of crowd was great though as they weren't afraid to sing loudly and dance and it encouraged us to do so too.
Drinks were ok - priced at less than anywhere else in the west end but also not very strong.
It's definitely a good night if you like an alternative to the usual pubs and clubs of London. Highly recommend.
N. L.
Stopped here for drinks and a quick bite in between part one and two of Cursed Child last month and enjoyed myself so much! They have a fantastic variety of beers on tap and their menu is wonderful. I highly recommend the mushroom risotto myself, and I don't even usually like mushrooms!
But honestly the real crown gem is the staff. When I arrived they were just opening and the kitchen wasn't even taking orders yet, but everyone was so friendly and inviting I didn't even bat an eye. I was almost disappointed that I was going back to see the second half of Cursed Child when I had to leave!
K. T.
Came for their set menu and was not disappointed. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. But busy before the show in the theatre upstairs starts but quietens down pretty quick straght after.
T. L.
Quaint, different and totally unexpected. Not your run of the mill high street establishment. Uber friendly staff and a vibrant atmosphere. Not the cheapest of places but you're paying for the experience. Well worth a visit. Members only after a certain time.
I. S.
A cozy spot with friendly staff and great food. Sadly, we waited an hour for our meal which left us 15 minutes to wolf down our food before the show started. Ruined what would have been a lovely meal.
A. D.
Probably London's best kept celebrity secret! Escape the hustle and bustle of the world above and step downstairs in time into the friendly comfort of anonymity... Amazing food, amazing people, and amazing atmosphere. You won't be disappointed.
S. S.
Great place for a catch up with friends. Food was keenly priced and of a decent quality, nothing fancy but more than adequate. It is all about the atmosphere however, sing along Saturday night was good fun.
C. Z.
This is a private members club for theatre people, it serve dinner in the evenings from 5pm in till 11pm. Bar food is available until around 2am. The place has a lively energy but it is preferable to book a tables for dinner in advance as it is continuely busy.
T. H.
The best bar in London - bar none. Great meeting place before theatre/comedy night out. When there are no seats anywhere else in the West End there will be here. It is members only entry after 9pm but I you're already in you're fine and it is open very late. Theatre staff and cast often end up here and merriment and performance often ensues.
Really cosy atmosphere as it's in the old dressing rooms under the Phoenix Theatre. The entrance is an unassuming door down the right hand side of the theatre.
NEVER had a bad night here.
D. T.
Great venue to have a quiet drink or enjoy a lovely cabaret show. Quite good for socialising as well. The crowd is mostly artistic, friendly, creative and nice. I really love going there.
H. F.
Good food at very reasonable prices & Excellent choices for Vegans : ) .. great selection of soft drinls for non dtinkers like myself , that are more than reasonable in cost.
Thursday nights ( open mic ) are unbelevable . Truly memorable times here . The amazing staff , all help to make it the hidden little gem that it is . The compare & pianist's along with the performers are something to behold too .
E. L.
This place is brilliant. We really enjoyed ourselves.
M. B.
Great little place. Went on a Saturday night we didn't have food but the entertainment was really good well worth the money. 10 pound entry and a free drink.
J. R.
One of the best times I had while visiting London! If you like dancing, drinking, or all around shenanigans this is the place to come to.
It's not easy to get into. You must be part of the artist scene, know someone in it, or have a ticket stub from a local show dated that day.
Good luck and have fun!
j. s.
Great find and even better venue. The service was good and we both enjoyed the food. If you are looking to burn a few hours away in the west with good entertainment and service I thoroughly recommend this place.
M. J.
The Phoenix Artist Club is a hidden gem just round the corner from Chinatown and Covent Garden. It's friendly and a great place to unwind. If you're a member, then it makes a fantastic base to work from with free WiFi and coffee during the day. In the evenings it comes to life with live music, cabarets, duelling pianos and more! There's a great selection of drinks at the bar, and the food sounds amazing (I'm yet to sample it, but that will happen soon).
A. M.
An underground theatrical playground located in the old rehearsal rooms of the phoenix theatre.
Cabaret Chardonnay and champagne in equal measures..... With a touch of camp to top it off.
One of my favourite bars / restaurants / performance spaces in all of London
S. B.
Lovely evening at Phoenix Artist Club - great food and service!
The pre-theatre menu deal was great value for money and the food was delicious. 2 courses and a glass of prosecco for £18! The staff were so friendly and chatty...great start to our night in Soho! Will definitely be back :-)
M. L.
Really lovely venue. Great food, friendly staff and the added bonus of live entertainment. Only downside is the venue doesn't take card payments, but there is a cash till near by.
K. P.
Thursday evenings are Musical Theatre Open Mic at the Artist Club, so if you're minded to try your hand at singing in public, there isn't a better venue for your debut. Regardless of your ability, background or training, the crowd is always encouraging. The atmosphere is one of camaraderie and support rather than musical one-upmanship.
Oh and the food is just lush. Creamy mushroom gnocchi is to die for.
L. L.
Lovely ambience, nice food and great show! We loved it.
C. C.
Amazing personalised service. Free fizz and cake for birthday. Only went for early pre theatre meal between 5-7 (close enough to the shaftsbury for this) but super impressed. Obviously have a lot going on there in the evenings. Lots of character and we were invited back after the show on the basis we had our ticketstubbs. Wld have loved to seen the cabaret. Food was pretty ok, well priced. Decor fab. Really great fun.
B. F.
Club in basement in Soho. Guard on the door let us in after small discussion. Inside great live music and lovely people. Beverages not expensive.
Lovely closing of perfect evening.
H. C.
Music Theatre Open Mic night was an absolute beauty. Compere - second to none. Pianist - exemplary. Calibre of performers and the level of support from the audience was simply sublime.
However.
One particular barman provided a less than satisfactory experience. Upon initial enquiry regarding the deals on drinks for the night, we were met with gross contempt. He then proceeded to pour the wrong drinks. I would love the opportunity to pin-point his identity but myself and my group were too preoccupied with being accused of "being a dick" upon pointing out his honest mistake. Quite un-removed from the poignancy of this experience was the apparent pissing contest between myself and the member of staff when in actual fact it was clearly a female member of our group who had made the order and was paying for the order. Perhaps said member of staff was intimidated at the prospect of dealing with a strong-willed female customer. Either way - I'd suggest the barman in question be reprimanded and gently chided in basic common courtesy. Yours in earnest, a pissed-off customer.

I attended this venue for the first time when I took part in a 'Monologue Monday' event. The Phoenix Arts Club in London is a unique, basement level establishment which really needs to be experienced first hand.
When I first arrived, and not knowing anyone, I had a strange sense of feeling completely alone, with bustling nightlife, drinking and chatter all around me. The whole experince seemed oddly surreal, as if I was looking through a time portal into a speakesy in 1920s Chicago, or an underground club in 1930s Berlin; only the dress of the clientele betrayed the fact that I was in the 21st century. But when I made the effort to break through the portal myself, I found a wonderfully warm and accepting club where I felt completely at home, and I look forward so much to visiting again.
My one criticism is born of my being a Carer for my Wife, who is a wheelchair user. The club has no elevator system to provide access for people with mobility needs. And whilst they had previously told me on the phone that they could arrange to carry a wheelchair user down the stairs, one would have to question the fire safety of such a decision. That said, it still gets a five-star rating from me, and a solid recommendation...
A. S.
An interesting place to hang out with friends if you are allowed in. Located in the quieter corner in the Leicester Square neighbourhood, it apparently attracts the performing talent from the theatres around. I ended up visiting as a friend was hosting a party here - the bar is accessible and you don't have to fight to get a place.
B. N.
Decent food, though the portion was a bit small for me with a higher (mashed potatoes to meat ratio than I'm in favor of). Comedy was great though, and it is a cool feeling place, like it's hidden or a secret you've stumbled on.
H. S.
Great fun. Well priced food that might not be very fancy but more than does the job. The atmosphere is what you come for though. A great night out with friends
M. C.
Great late night bar, recommended and delivered. Excellent friendly crowd and staff, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere, good quality piano player and singer. Will definitely return.
C. G.
Great experience! Dueling pianos are great entertainment and they take requests. Good drinks, but it's the entertainment that really sells it.
E. J.
It's easy to see why actors of all types enjoy this cheeky little club, tucked away just off the busy Leicester Square neighbourhood. You wouldn't be wrong in thinking you'd stepped back in time by the retro decor similar to 80's New York with the amount of framed headshot on the wall of actors past and present who've graced the club.
Downstairs there are - keeping in theme - fold down theatre seats, numerous tables big and small and plenty to look at, be it the plane they have hanging from the ceiling (not sure if it's still there) or just people watching. I wouldn't say this is exactly a great place if you want a quiet drink, it's full of eccentric characters and a lively, buzzy place. Great fun if you're looking to get to make a few new friends for the evening too!
S. R.
Have visited the Phoenix Arts Club a few times and absolutely love it there! Whatever you are there for there is always a great atmosphere and the staff are all very friendly 😃. It's a small and intimate venue with a fab decor 😃
H. K.
This exclusive spot was well worth the wait. If you know somebody on stage or backstage in London's West End definitely get them to get you in here.
From the stunning historic theatre bills on the walls (and ceiling) to the live karaoke - and when I say Karaoke I mean a real piano and real west end stars singing. Only downside was the surly barman, but even he contributed to the secret bar vibe.
Can't wait to find an exusce to go back
R. H. (.
Great high end drink choices, lovely home made food! Great shows, amazing Staff, best independent bar/club in London!
E. G. Q.
Genuine artistic feel and crowd. Has live music and strives to truly engage customers with song requests system and sing-along. Awesome range of whiskies too!
B. B. M. E.
My best mate and I booked a pre theatre dinner here yesterday. The food was delicious best Ive had in a long while, so much flavour. I would like to say a massive Thankyou to all the staff, keep up the good work.😊 Bethea.
M. R.
Good food & service. Reasonable price.
I. S.
Came here for a stand up comedy night and really liked this cosy club.
They also have a great bar/restaurant, which serves my favourite Oyster stout and awesome burgers. Try their Pimms Sorbet for desert - delicious!
I loved their collection of posters, paintings and photos on the walls - they kept my eyes entertained throughout the night :)
J. H.
Quite fun! Open late, so does get busy. Floor show is usually hilarious. Drinks are average price. Supposed to be associated with theatres to gain entry.
D. P.
We were a little unsure when my and my 50 year old Mam walked in, but the staff were great and we quickly relaxed into the fun and flirty atmosphere there! Delicious food as well and a great pre-show deal!
A. W.
This is a private members club for theatre and performing arts folks.
But, and here's the big tip: Anyone can gain access if you show your theatre ticket from that evening.
A fun, cozy place. The night we were there, a pianist played show tunes and other popular hits - and the audience sang along!
C. B.
The best cabaret club in town... never a less-than-exceptional night of entertainment from top artists, and unrivalled TLC shown to both audience and artists.
E. B.
We went there for the first time some weeks ago and unexpectedly stumbled upon a drag show. Drinks were moderately priced, service friendly and we had a great time. Would definitely go back.
P. G.
Excellent selection of drinks all at reasonable prices. Even better selection of entertainment!! 10/10 recommend A Night In Soho, top notch.
D. D.
First time I've been back since they upped their game. Pleasantly surprised. Excellent two courseseparate and reasonable for valentine's night. Ambience had not changed, still lovely and luvvy! I felt loved... well.. welcome at least!
L. H.
Me and my partner came across this lovely place while we were visiting London, it was an open mic night and I must say we had a fantastic night. All the people who sang was fantastic and it was a very lovely and friendly place
B.
Great vibes and super helpful staff
M. B.
Fun evening out for Eurovision, lots of entertainment and managed to bag two bottles of bubbly :) There was a small selection of food available and a range of real ales. Prices were quite cheap for a central London bar, and the decor was fun and quirky.
S. T.
We got the ticket for ”a night in Soho with Vanity von Glow” @vanityvonglow for my mother in law as her mother’s day present. We wanted something that they had never experienced before. It was so funny as we sat; my parents in law were hesitant; in the end we had to drag them out by force 😂they were astonished and said it was the best and most memorable gift they had ever received. The show was mind blowing!! Her voice! Performance!! The ambience! We gonna go back def!!! Thank you❤️😘❤️
R. A.
Always have unusual shows here. Tonights was music Hall by candlelight
S. B.
Absolute hidden gem.. Huge array of people making this a very unique place. Great selection of beer and food... my new favourite bar in London
D. D.
Superb venue superb cocktails great staff and one of the best nightspots you never knew existed definitely the place for your bucket list and a place to return too
J. B.
Have not been for a few years but coming back is always as pleasant and fun as each previous visit! Food was perfect and all my vegetarian needs were met!
A. W.
A really special place with friendly staff, live cabaret shows and comedy nights. A good place to work in the daytime and a perfect cosy, colourful club for drinks at night.
J. W.
If you like musicals. This is a place you need to visit. Staff are amazing, atmosphere is just perfect. Great night out!
e. g.
Amazing place ! Food... piano ... ambiance...except an horrible person at the entrance 😱just made her own decision when she does not like people .... then the manager was not able to really appreciate the situation... it’s a shame ... especially because it’s a lovely place ...
S. E.
Loads of live acts, from Camden Fringe gigs to live singalong. Love the in/out switch for when someone from the cat of a show goes in for a pint. Mark is a killer chef and a charming host.
L. R.
Brilliant, well worth the visit (Sunday at the Musicals)
a. P.
It has to be one of London's secrets. Lovely door staff and bar tenders. Music just right. No need to rise up from the ashes coz you are already there.
C. S.
Eccentric, old world Soho at it's best... amazing food these days too - the Fish and Chips is freshly done, right up there with the Golden Hind. The Musical Theatre open mic is the best night out ever, and the Karousel music nights are a treasure trove of new bands and singers. But ultimately, just the best late night, magical boozer in London. Always something bonkers happening. I was in there the other week and a load of guys dressed as Disney Characters ended up doing the open mic - Woody from Toy Story playing piano while Snow White sang a song with Jafar and Cruella De Ville. And that's just another Phoenix night!
D. D.
Love the atmosphere and the cocktails are delicious. Great for industry meetups and great for small to medium sized events like premiers
N. H.
A classic late night haunt below the Pheonix Theatre, expect piped musical theatre music, good beers, the walls adorned with actors' headshots and many a bescarfed thesp. An excellent option after the pubs have shut, darling.
S. D.
Another classic Soho venue – this place is member’s only on Fridays and Saturdays but us plebs can squeeze in during the week and early at the weekend (apparently this is easier if you’re that Hollyoaks shade of blonde, but I wouldn’t know anything about that). Drinks are cheap and there’s usually someone a bit famous in here – on my first visit, a very very drunk Jez from Peep Show, and then last time, Carl Barat from the Libertines with Adele. A great place to have a glass of wine and talk about the theeeeeeatre, darling…
S. H.
Tagged along with some friends after Comptons closed. What a fantastic surprise it was. Loved it great venue and Gingezilla was a fantastic bonus. We will be back.
S. S.
Amazing atmosphere and the epitome of soho life. Whether there is an event on or if it's just a quiet night where you are chatting in a cosy corner, this is the sort of place that lingers in your memory many years later.
E. D.
Busy basement theatre and pub. Attracts customers old and young; trendy but friendly. Fantastic staff who are patient and composed even on the busiest nights.
r. k.
Decent food at a reasonable price.
I had fish and chips and my wife had the chicken Kiev. Both tasted good and good size portions
D. (.
Very nice atmosphere and the shows here are phenomenal. Also a great way to find out about new up and coming artists.

Been for a Sunday evening cabaret.
Great and very professional show.
A nice bar on the side and great atmosphere.
M. C.
This is my favourite pub ever. I love the musical vibe of Thursday nights. It is always a special treat to go there
P. G.
I was an invited guest twice in the LGBT poetry night at phoenix to recite my poems here. Trudy Howson was the host. I love the cool alternate air here.
C. B.
Great beers! Live music was spot on and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. 10/10 would go again and again!
N. K.
A legendary institution, always a buzz in here and then there's the quaint showbiz decor and fairylights. The drinks prices are also distinctly reasonable considering the location.

Original undergound basement bar with the great live music and a vintage look at it. Simple bar - it does the job when you have the company.
V. S.

Unless you're often on the stage, this might be as close as you'll get to a genuine green room. Arrive early if you're not a member, as entry is members only when the curtain falls.
