Reviews of Prince of Wales
R. F.
Lovely Greene King pub with really friendly staff good choice of beer and it was nice because it wasn't that busy at the time so I actually got a seat!!! Prices were as to be expected as it is very close to covent garden (£6.50 for a pint of Camden IPA) but it is definitely my kind of place with that traditional look.
T. E.
Aw we had such a lovely time here watching the rugby. All the staff were super helpful, (even going above and beyond, ensuring we didn't go hungry and meeting my particular dietary requirements very timely with delicious food!) we felt like VIPs with very kind, professional, friendly and attentive staff, and they remained so throughout even when it became busy with fans. (who were a good crowd)
We were made to feel very welcome indeed and so comfortable with the brilliant friendly service along with the bonus of consistent table cleanliness upkeep, wiping down and clearing of glasses and with big smiles all round.
It was everything we could've wished for and more for a lovely Saturday afternoon.
Thank you all so very much!
I highly recommend!
J. T.
Brilliant atmosphere for a Sunday afternoon of live football. The staff were extremely friendly and happy to hold a conversation with you. The staff are very knowledgeable of the menu and can make amazing drinks recommendations. Unfortunately, due to sickness the team were short staffed and the kitchen had to close early. Special thank you to Darshana for being so understanding and helpful, allowing us to have our evening munch in the pub and for maintaining the pub-like atmosphere when dealing with the majority of front of house in her own
S. D.
Quick service and good food. Can't complain, my burger was a (messy) beast and my friend enjoyed her mac and cheese. We'd certainly go back and give it another go.
O. C.
Nice pub off convent garden, plenty of space, more than a usual London pub. Quiet, fast service and good food.
K. F.
A lucky find - obviously a very popular pub as all tables were reserved. Staff were lovely and let us use one of the tables that was for a later sitting. Food was lovely
C. A.
I came into the Prince of Wales by myself and had a brilliant time. The staff were very friendly and attentative. I met some friends and had a great night. Darshana in particular was very welcoming and warm. She deserves a promotion and all the recognition in the world. Thanks for a fantastic evening!
D. G.
Only stayed for one pint. My brother was eating and it looked very nice. Would like to visit again if were in the area. Great pint of IPA.
B. D.
Friendly pub with good food. Outdoor seating is perfectly located for people watching. Also really fun when the beer comes in the correct glass
m. b.
Nice pub. Good selection of beers. Its Greene King and accept friends and family discount. Seating outside also available.
Z. F.
I enjoyed the atmosphere of the pub and the staff was friendly.
However, it took a little longer than expected for the fish and chips to be cooked, and then when it was brought out I thought that it was very, very bland. The chips may have been the best part, but those are hard to mess up and usually taste good with a bit of salt.
J. O.
A very welcoming pub, serving good food. Very close to theatres and Covent gardens
M. D.
If seeing a show at the nearby Gillian Lynne Theatre, hiding from the rain, people watching undercover or watching sport on one of the 4 big screens, then this is the place you should be in. Never too full, there are plenty of odd shaped tables and chairs. The bar is well tended and service is top notch. Will always return for any of the above or just to say hello over a pint. Great place.
2. C. D.
Nice wee pub good atmosphere. Comedy nights also on offer . The usual warm welcome you get from Greenking
R. T.
Nice little pub just round the corner from our hotel, nice selection of beer lovely
m. l.
Nice place to drop in for a great pint of Guiness, I didn't eat there bit the food looked very good.
m. T.
Came to watch the football and ordered a bacon cheese burger. It was one of the best burgers I've had and great service!
M. S.
Excellent Service, and Amazing Food. Been here several times, the staff is friendly and Food is great. Will visit again!
C. H.
Nice boozer at the top of Drury lane.Serves food and has outdoor seating. All the coronovirus precautions have been take and the staff are friendly. Worth a visit. They even bothered to knock up a Pimm's for me which is definitely out of season - nice work guys 🥰
H. T.
Walked in to this pub for a drink, ended having dinner! Lovely staff Omar and Paige were very helpful. Defo recommend it and I shall return on my next visit to the area. Thank you.
C. P.
Despite being located in a heavily touristic area of London, it turned out a pretty good "pubish" experience... Several draft beers, friendly team in charge, we had the sandwiches and they were fresh and tasty, we enjoyed our lunch a lot...
D. S.
Visited this place for a quick drink despite the very mixed reviews.
Typical large pub for the area with a mix of tourists, craftsman and random suits like me! Personally I was greeted by the most enthusiastic barman in the world! Also liked how he helped foreign visitors who were struggling a little with their English - good to see in tourist areas like this!
Good selection of real ales, craft beers, ciders and gins. Maybe not my first choice in the area but a very decent option!
PS. Thanks for the response! And I should say that the other two bar staff at the time were really smiley towards me and both of the ladies separately asked if I needed anything else. And when they weren’t busy serving, everyone was either cleaning or clearing tables. Your staff deserve praise!
Y. E.
Really nice theatre, and very intimate sol all seats have a good view. Nice large bar downstairs with plenty of servers to make short lines. You can order your intermission drinks before the show so you don't have to stand in line. Smaller bathrooms means try to get there quickly at intermission so you don't have to wait for that line as well. Wonderful theatre experience.
V. C.
Nice pub, friendly bar staff, reasonable prices. More traditional pub in the heart of covent garden

P. M.
Nice pub. Friendly staff
J. Č.
Nice pub. Beer was great. Additionaly we ordered Steak & red wine pie and Steak & kidney pudding pie. Both were very tasty.
l.
Not a great or a terrible Pub, probably could be categorised as modern traditional pub. Pub lunch is ok, not best quality not bad quality. Selection of beers is average. They do show sports, horse races etc.
S. H.
Clean friendly pub, enjoyed the favourite platter,
M. P.
A friendly attentive service and well kept beers. Food very good definitely a good stop off point for lunch after walking round Covent Garden.
E. P.
Great vegan burger. Nice staff
m. h.
Great pub in great location, good pint, worth a visit!
R. H.

Traditional old London pub. Food was good, reasonable fast serving, toilets clean
T.
I was greeted by a new member of staff called Ethan. He was very friendly and gave me and my friends very good service. We enquired about cocktail shots but explained to us he was not completely sure being it was his second day but wanted to give us the information needed. He continued to be very nice and explained to us what shots were available. We ordered and he personally served us saying sorry that we could not have the shots we was after. Me and my friends were extremely satisfied with the service and will definately return. We hope to see Ethan again very soon!
S. H.
No flexibility on the menu, get there at 3, you can't have lunch...
S. S.
Live sport and a good selection of beers and ales. Service was very good.
C. W.
Very welcoming and although only one of us had a drink there they were quite happy for all three of us to use their loos.
J. H.
Lovely Welsh man with great service good wine

Football pub .4 large TV screens.good choice of beers .
S. G.
Went for a quick pint and some food. Food was amazing! Also very nice atmosphere.
C. T.
Came here around the time of the world cup. Really enjoyed the homely local pub feeling even though it's located in central London. Will certainly visit again.
A. N.
Great place with a very lively crowd. Staff were very polite and fast with serving drinks. Drinks are reasonable price for the area too. Upstairs was closed when I was there but I'm sure on a busy night it is open giving more space. A couple TVs around to watch football or rugby and
J. J.
Nice little pub, right by theatres, fantastic building.
If you're coming by tube you're just as close to Holborn as you are to Covent Garden
V. B.
Very nice pub and lovely staff
P. J.
Been there just a few times, normally for international football matches. Tends to be quite lively and can get into conversations with people from many countries.
P. M.
Nice pub. Friendly staff
j. p.
Great food Beers & very good service
O. M.
I nipped into the pub last evening with my friend and we had the pleasure to be looked after by the lovely and charming Ashley who made us feel very welcome and made sure we found a table as it was very busy. A very attentive and professional member of staff and I would recommend seeking her out and saying hello if you decide to visit this lovely pub. The menu is good as well. Great atmosphere.
K. P.
Great staff. Very welcoming. Good selection of drinks. Super friendly. Very well prepared for social distance. I felt very safe. Well done.
A. P.
Nice service, good beer, nice ambiance
G.
Excellent service and venue for office Christmas Dinner
J. J.
An average pub. Nothing bad about it but the selection of beers was lax. Consisting mainly of poor mass produced beer. The staff were okay but in no real rush to serve anybody and not particularly friendly but not rude either.
L. O.
An ok pub with a reasonable selection of beer and gin. The food looked good but I had only just eaten when I visited, so didn't partake. It took an absolute age to get served at the bar though as the staff seemed more interested in other things than serving customers.
M. E.
We all enjoyed the traditional British food, which was very nicely cooked. I particularly enjoyed the simple ham, egg and chips, lovely ham. Very helpful and friendly service too.
S. S.
Shout out to Darshana, in very difficult circumstances delivered exceptional service
k. C.
Fabulous food and great friendly and efficient staff Toilets nice and clean
G. P.
Loved watching the UEFA Champions League semifinal here.
Full of people, of respectful fans, all drinking together and just having a good time.
Many screens in the room, perfect audio.
Beer just a bit overpriced in my opinion.
But will definitely come back for another match.
S. D.
Nice friendly pub, tried several sports pubs in the area to watch the England ladies footy match. None would offer to accommodate us. The Prince of Wales did without hesitation, great! Would recommend.
R. S.
Went there on a Friday night for a drink before seeing a show. Not surprisingly, it was packed. There were only two staff serving so although they did their best, the service was very slow. I am sure its the same situation with all pubs in the area at the start of the weekend.
m.
Great pub with really friendly and helpful staff. Went there on the final day of our holiday in London recently. Good food and very well organised for Covid19.
S. S.
The Prince of Whales is a very nice pub. The food was good and they have a good variety of beers. The staff was very friendly! A heads up to Nick who is a charming and delightful person. I recomand this pub. Will come agan
G. R.
The best toasted sandwich I've had in years. Very good value with the Lunchtime offer. Salt beef and cheese in sourdough bread. Lovely staff too. Very friendly.
R. C.
Watched England play in the World Cup quarter finals, they sensibly limited numbers into the pub so that those in there had space to watch it enjoyably. Four large screens in one room and also had a great breeze through the doors as it was 32 degrees! (compared to another pub I went to that day where I literally dripped in sweat and was squashed inbetween stroppy people).Really friendly staff and quick service. Will def return.
m. f.
Reasonable cozy friendly boozer
M. W.
Situated in Covent Garden area it’s more than just a pub, vast selection of beers plus spirits and wines. Comfortable surroundings and cheery helpful staff. A must visit if in the area.
M. P.
Authentic fish and chips was a delicious hit at this restaurant. Including mushy peas with some of the best fish I’ve ever tasted made it an excellent choice. Highly recommend!
D. Z. M.
Friendly team, affordable drinks and food served and a very good location. Also the pub was clean and neat at the time of my visit, and I love that the pub kept its originality
Y. S.
Decent place with a massive outdoor area, both back and front with heaters and enough staff. The food is great mainly Egyptian, shisha and beers which is a nice mix and you can even watch a game on the tele. They don't take cards but there's a cash machine.
G.
Not the best bunch of staff unfortunately. We visited during festive period but found serving staff providing little let down experience. Drinks were priced average and loads of options. Good amount of seating and easy to navigate around inside.
R. M.
this is a busy masons pub, that has some good outside seating when the weather is good. the food is typical pub grub, and not in a good way. It's a little overpriced and can be very crowded. the decor is well meh and very much a take it or leave it. It adds nothing to the general ambience
Location wise its' great and if it's not rammed a great place to meet centrally otherwise find somewhere else
O. B.
Great little.pub with good selection of beers. Food is fresh and staff friendly. Also, shows sports on sky/BT. Will visit again if in the area.
D. v. d. L.
We enjoyed lunch with a group of 42 people at The Prince of Wales. A private room was exclusively booked for us. We were served by Justyna and Cristina. These two ladies did a great job! The food was good, especially the millionaire's cheese cake! :-)
C. W.
I don't remember being here so it was either awesome or rubbish.
K. G.
Very nice and helpful staff, great atmosphere and delicious food!
A. D.
There are some good craft beers and a decent selection of spirits. Prices are high though standard for this part of town. The bar staff are good though there was a constant wait on a Friday night
R. H.
Great pub not the usual atmosphere but considering covid! Still good for a pint or 2! 😁
k. g.
I went here Friday night (28th Of June 2019) with carer after wine course at City Link . I had a double captain morgan's and carer had same but with coke and ice , me no ice. Lucky got a good seat in pub though very noisy in pub due to football was on. I think only stayed at pub 5 to 15 minutes but overall a least it was nice to have a drink .
Expensive for drinks , £15.12 for double captain morgan's and double captain morgan's with coke and ice but that is London prices so that is what you pay for.

As Americans, we got to enjoy our first proper tea in the UK here. Even tried milk in our coffee for the first time. Highly recommend this place. It is very comfortable and cozy.
S. W.
Very nice pont of hells
M. G.
Interesting..... had to explain to them, that if you order a expensive large gin and tonic ...you expect the bottle of tonic to be served with the gin....not fully poured in the glass whilst being served. Evidently, it's the landlords policy to serve drinks with mixer fully poured in to glass!!
L. H.
Good food
v. w.
Wonderful traditional pub to sit outsode and watch the world go by
T. L.
Excellent friendly bar staff. Nice outside area to sit and people watch. Decent place. Well worth a visit
F. L.
Nice and fresh beer, a nice table, and great nachos, perfect
N. C.
Decent enough pint in a busy, old-style pub on Drury Lane. Filled with people in for a quick drink after work, it is mostly a place to stop off before going on somewhere else.
M. W.
A nice little oasis just off Drury Lane. Pleasant staff and a nicely featured menu. Decent selection of cask ales and a 10% discount for Camra members. Another Greene King house bar...
T. P.
Great vibe, and a killer Sunday roast. The live band was also a great touch! Perfect spot for a cozy meal and a beer with family and friends.
J. O.
Poor selection of beer, but a loot of good options for food! Very busy too, I was lucky to get a seat without reserving ahead.
A. F.
We host an event here every here and the service was phenomenal. Great staff, so friendly, and good location. It’s a traditional British pub in Covent Garden.
R. C.
Lively pub on a Saturday night. Sport on tv, rugby stuff all over the place. Young crowd. Barman didn't know what a pernod and black was, but then again neither did I!
J. L.
Hi..I worked at Prince of Wales in 2001 and I am wondering if Babara still runs this pub..I always miss the chicken pie, my chef and Babara. Someday hope to visit again..Joy from Korea.
T. R.
Always a friendly place to visit for a few drinks when staying in Covent Garden area. Staff are always helpful. Great atmosphere.
C. M.
Was very crowded inside but staff were very quick and jolly. Just good to be open again.
A. S.
Good location and a fairly decent selection of beers and other drinks. There are lots of seats and screens to watch sport. Toilets are quite bad though.
F. I.
We pop into here most times we are in the area, great drinks and food. Partner likes the sport they show
N. T.
Friendly pub for events. Great food and drink, and the team are excellent. The upstairs room is perfect if you'd like to run an event.
C. H.
Nice pub and a good offering. Great location- perfect for a pre-theatre/comedy show drink.
G. N.
Good food and drinks. Great service.
S. R.
Excellent position. The food was really tasty, I had the beef pie with mashed potatoes and it was delicious. The waiter was funny and kind.
R. L.
Great pub good beer good location but oh dear one poor lad in terms of bar staff half an hour before England V All Blacks come on!!
G. M.
Nice pub with a good range of real ales but sound on 2 TVs showing football were too loud to hold a conversation with people on the same table.
E. A.
Great location to Theatreland, great food and plus it has Sky Sports which is hard too find in Central London. Will definitely be back when I am in London again.
C. B.
Decent pub, has several screens to show live sport. Often very busy. Also quite pricey, even for a London pub.
U. G.
Very busy on a Friday night in December, but the staff were friendly and helpful and the pub had a nice atmosphere
P. T.
Great location, gets quite lively Friday Saturday evenings. Sports on TV, typical pub grub. Quite pricey for a standard pub, but it is in the west end.
B. W.
Had great service from Casey and Macauly at the pub, a lively place with good selection of drinks and strong food menu!
S. P.
Average pub in a great location... I think it's biggest merit is being a decent overflow for when the Lowlander across the street is packed (which is to say, basically always)
M. B.
Very friendly and keen to ensure you are kept safe. Food really good. Thanks
L. F.
Great atmosphere but unfortunately never got to try food as finished at 2pm!! On a Sunday while England playing...bit disappointed
P. M.
Was packed and had a great atmosphere for rugby during the rugby world cup. Seemed like it would be popular for sports most weekends.
A. K.
prince of wales wos very good staff were very helpfull and polite food wos good i did not see any tables held up by a menu as some has stated well located for our hotel the travel lodge would i use the pub again next time we are in london YES we would
S. T.
Decent pub with a good few screens to watch sports on. Think it was a spoons and this meant it had pretty decent beer selection and a reasonable price
C. T.
2nd time in that beautiful and tipically british pub. Very good food, friendly staff and comfortable armchairs ! A good address !
T. Q.
Love the atmosphere and by far one of my favourite after work spots but paying beyond £6.00 for a pint of larger can hurt a little and is not competitive in the area!
J. R.
Nice place. Lovely staff. X
N. P.
Service was wonderful, atmosphere was fun and upbeat, decent pub food with a wide selection of drinks.
N.
Great pub great manager good all round a credit to the Greene king estate

Went in for food and to watch Champions League football. Good food, good drinks and a great atmosphere with very fast and friendly staff. Recommended.
J. L.
Average pub. Good for watching sports. Good selection of drinks and average menu. Area to stand outside on the street
S. B.
Very nice place if you're visiting the Comment Garden area. We were a family of four, and we enjoyed the chicken platters.
M. B.
Decent food, generous portions. Pretty crowded but the service was good. Typical english pub with typical pub food I guess.
a. b.
Busy Christmas run up and 1 bar tender on. Friends ordered food and nothing came out fast or correct. Usually good. This time.... nope.
s. z.
Great London pub for pre show drinks. Cozy seating and shows sport on multiple TVs
I. T.
Very friendly staff and good prices, cheaper then pubs around it. They even do "open mic" evenings sometimes.
c. j.
Good range of ales. Food looked okay but small portions. Popular venue during the day.
J. B.
Good service.nice ambience!
S. B.
Pretty nice Sunday roast but I think the chef must have sat on the Yorkshire pudding
B. P.
Good place for beer and watching football (soccer) as they have 4 TVs - the most I've seen in a pub in London.
L. H.
Went to watch Rugby. That was great. Food is typical "food service" pub.
K. M.

The service was fast and friendly and the beers cold.
S. K.
Good atmosphere and a nice place to wind down after seeing a show at one of the many theaters in the heart of Covent Garden.
