Reviews of Prince William Henry
D. A.
This pub is a nice traditional looking sort of pub that seems to have a few identities that might have you leaving with a different feeling every time. The outdoor area is huge for its location and half is under cover and half not which is great. Indoors there is a tiny cosy corner by a tv screen for sports, the main area and a smaller private area at the back. The food looks better than what it was. The pub from the outside promises lots of what seems homemade etc but what we got felt shop bought and nothing special. Some menu items are super great value for money and some not so much for what you get, so really was a mixed bag. The Staff are friendly and polite, a couple of them new and not so experienced so perhaps a bit slow but was quiet when we were there and not much of an issue. The cocktails on offer were all canned. They did taste good and reasonably priced. The toilets could do with a revamp as they really reminded me of old school toilets but they were clean and stocked.. there were really highs and lows to this pub but I would say the beer garden is probably its best catch on a sunny and warm day!

Visited for an after work drink with a few colleagues and had two tables in the covered outside area. Pleasant enough pub which I have visited a few times, one suggestion would be for the staff to be a bit friendlier, acknowledge you when you're at the bar even if they're serving other customers and give a little interaction... a nod, a smile, a hello... they just all seem to be a bit detached and not that keen on dealing with people.
G. A.
Lovely pub. Friendly and helpful staff.
T. T.
A very nice local pub/bar that's a little less rowdy than others nearby. Prices are a little expensive even for the area, but staff were friendly and the service was fast. Dissapointed Disarrono wasn't available across multiple visits.
H. S.
Great Food and nice atmosphere. Big surprise!
The place doesn't look like much from the street due to the ugly 1970ies building it is in. But then inside is actually very cozy. Must have been renovated recently. Covered terrace with heat lamps in winter.
Food is excellent and good value: Burgers pizza and other staples. Salad was very fresh. Pizza was good. You can tell the young lady who's running the kitchen is Italian!
Try it out!
P. R.
The beer is kept really well and a good selection. Food is ok. The place feels a bit grubby though.
J. R.
A nice pub, We had a private booking in the back room. My only complaint would be the staff looked a bit scruffy and sometimes it was hard to differentiate between staff and customer. We had food in the form of a buffet which was nice.
I've been back a few times since and have always had a good time, Staff were looking neater the last time
C. M.
Great food, great drinks and the staff are brilliant. Made us feel very welcome. Hard to find pubs like this
G. A.
During my visit I tasted their excellent burger and lovely fat chips. Only one real ale on, Tribute, but this was kept well and also good. Great friendly bar staff, but let down by the rude manager at closing time. Without warning, didn't there used to be a bell we were presented with a plastic cup to take our drinks away in and told that there's a strict policy to leave at 11:15. We took our drinks in the environmentally unsound carton and stood outside. We were then rudely ushered onto the pavement. This pub obviously wants us to walk the streets with our drinks. Advice would be to give customers advanced notice (everyone understands the bell) and the manager need to take a politeness in hospitality class. Really enjoyed our evening up until then, we won't be back.
o. k.
Good atmosphere, and nice lighting.
The door to the men's toilet should be closed - at the right angle you might see the wrong thing.
They don't serve hot drinks, not even peppermint tea.
A. T.
A nice pub with fast service, and good prices. Just by Southwark tube station.
A. L.
Nice pub with great selection of draft beers. Good fish and chips. Cosy atmosphere.
E. L.
A pub close to the thames...very posh sounding pub but when u go in its friendly and cosy. A great outdoor smoking area and big screen tvs everywhere..ideal for sport events. A good vibe and great food. The prices are decent.
B. F.
Tourist stop - Came for a lunch on a Friday. Great atmosphere and setup, really nice to sit outside but be sheltered from the wind and rain. Lovely staff and exceptionally priced quality food. Would recommend to a friend.
C. T.
Very friendly pub vibe, cheap cocktails 2 -4-£10, nice outside space, food was ok you get lots for you money.weloming staff.
C. P.
My husband and I recently stayed at a hotel across from this pub. The atmosphere is cozy, the food is good comfort food of generous portions and reasonable pricing. But the real appeal is the staff! Every one there was so friendly and hard working ! If you’re out Blackfriars road, stop by this pub and give them a try, they will welcome you with a smile and a cold one. Try the local ale called Beaver Neck Oil, seriously delicious !
P. H.
Good lunch options and nice outdoor space.
C. T.
Great venue. Food good. Beer good.
S. K.
Had some cocktails(2for 12£) and some mulled cider with rum(6,50). Takes long to replace order, also was cold outside had to turn heating light on in every 2 mins that was a little annoying.
s. h.
Great food and drinks, great service and great prices for the area.
P. N.
It's a basic pub , I didn't like the smoking area ( walk through) to enter main pub area
M. F.
Reasonable beer selection, some people don't like the atmosphere, but it serves a purpose. Has two dart boards and a good sized outdoor space, mostly covered with heaters
L. M.
Spacy pub with good testing food. Outdoor space for summertime or smoker. Consider ING where it is, good venue for bigger crowd.
T. J. E.
Id only just turned away from the bar at the PWH in a foul mood - holding a Wimbledon Brewery Bravo in an unbranded glass. Nay a fosters glass. Talk about disrespecting your fore fathers. Anyway. This was when something incredible happened
.« Good god »
« Good god » I repeated.
I was stopped in my tracks.
Staring at me Mooney eyed in the unassuming PWH an actual BLADE 5 dart board. Top of the range. Brand new. A piece of sporting equipment crafted to perfection, touched by the Gods themselves with a helping hand from science.
Reviewers say that the metal on the board could chop a Camembert in half if you threw it at the bullseye (e.g cheese wire).
The five star review speaks for itself. Take your friends, your loved ones, or just your children to see this piece of history.
You will know that you have been alive
M. P.
Spacious, good selection of beers and quick service. What more do you need?
D. T.
Large fairly modern pub on Blackfriars road. Good beer and friendly staff. Good value.
A. W.
We were there on a weekday afternoon. Large decking area at front with canopy nearest the building. Not too busy between 13.00 and 17.00. The manager said it does get really busy in the evenings when table bookings are really necessary. Beer is £5 to £5.20 per pint. They serve the usual selection of pub meals. Of course Blackfriars road is still very quite in May 2021 with very little traffic in the day and no tourists. Table service was good when we were there.
S. N.
It's a shame what c19 has done to this once-lively pub. Nevertheless, they have all the correct procedures in place and some decent drinks offers. Two cocktails for £10 is great and the cocktails are pretty decent. Food is average but maybe the specialist pizzas are better. Lacks ambiance now and they could do with some speakers outside as they have a quite large outside area with shelter and heaters.
a. S.
Stayed opposite and went in for drink. Lovely pub very friendly. Went back next night for food . Had great meal good value . Would go back again and recommend.
M. I.
Quick drop in for lunch. Really nice wide spaces and great food. Well worth going. Definitely a place to come after work too
M. B.
The Bar Manager was fantastic, giving me details about other Rioja wines. Will definitely be frequenting here again in the not too distant future.
R. M.
Staff were lovely - really accommodating and couldn't do enough to help.
Only three stars as I think the Neck Oil was watered down - certainly tasted watery compared to my local and the canned version. Reminded me of the beer in the New Cross Venue in the '90s.
Outdoor seating available in a fully open area and a covered patio with screens and infra red heaters, which suited the smoker I was with. Indoors is a bit bland with a strange lowered ceiling to hide the air conditioning ducts, but a reasonable selection of beers, but only one hand pump working at the time of writing.
P. K.
Has a decent collection of local ales, the side orders were good too
Although we didn’t go for the dinner it was very reasonably priced
Has a nice warm feeling during the weekdays
M. T.
I can’t vouch for the food here but the drinks and the vibe are spot on and exactly what you want from a London pub. The outside area is heated and they even provided us with some scarves as the summer is definitely on its way out - wrapped in plastic to suit Covid restrictions. I was particularly impressed by the adherence to the rules and felt comfortable and safe despite all the crazy that’s going on in the world.
c. z.
Lovely staff providing great service. Was a mix up over a drink I ordered but resolved swiftly and they apologised for the error. Pizza was delicious. Nice atmosphere. Place is lovely inside. They have dartboards woo hoo! Would definitely return when next in the area.
R. N.
Great location, outdoor terrace and excellent people running this place. I felt very welcome and got a 5-star attention and support. One of the best, if not the best pub in Southwark.
F. C.
Standard selection of taps, nothing stands out there. A bit pricey for the service and quality. They have a lot of space so it's the the go to place if you don't have a booking.
C. H.
This pub was a breath of fresh air. All the other pubs nearby were very busy. This one, only a short walk away, was much more spacious. The food is excellent and the prices reasonable. The whole set-up was perfect for a friends' get together with beers and grub while sitting around a large round table. The music wasn't so loud so we could have a conversation. Wonderful discovery.
A. P.
Lovely pub and service was amazing too.
T. O. J.
The nachos here are absolutely banging. But i sweat the cocktails have almost 0% alcohol because I was drinking them all night as a lightweight and did not feel a thing!
R. A.
Recent refurbishment has made the bar area feel brighter and a little more airy, but it's still a little spit and sawdust. Staff are capable but not too cheerful. Fairly standard range of Young's beers and other usual suspects. Nachos are excellent. Other food is decent enough. It's and decent enough local post-work boozer
C. P.
A group of us were in here yesterday, staff both friendly and helpful.
F. K.
Nice staff and overall a nice pub with a great terrace and covered outdoor space. However the food and cocktails are below average from a quality perspective.
S. C.
Really nice seating areas! They have blankets for outdoor seating and 80% of it are covered. Staff were accommodating and friendly.
m. a.
Service is good and quick. I tried the burger once: it was just ok, kind of disappointing. Toilets aren't very clean. Good point: in winter of it gets cold outside despite the heaters, they bring you blankets which is nice.
N. A.
Good vegetarian food options, big screens to watch the football games. Cheap prices
C. L.
Lovely stone baked thin crust pizzas and my partners lasagna was also superb. Staff were friendly and helpful. Outside seating is nice in the great weather this week and the drink selection is also not bad fed 3.5 with drinks for just over £40 with sides cant go wrong with that either! Give it a go especially if your staying just over the road like us.
N. W.
Loads of seats, outside/undercover with blankets, patio heaters and comfy seats. Great for larger groups too. A fantastic range of beers including Camden Hells, and Guinness, and they play all the rugby matches too. A good atmosphere, good food and great beer!
T. L.
Wonderful attentive service! Sunday roast was delicious! I want more!
H. C.
Well stocked bar and a great outdoor space (heated, plenty of tables and blankets for when it gets really chilly - though it is right on the road, so don't expect a pretty pub garden feel). The recent refurbishment has smartened it up and there are nice additional seating options inside - the armchairs at one end are good for a quiet catch up, and the dining area at the back is perfect for an after-work group.
D. M.
Our experience at this pub was great, thanks to the bartender who spent some time helping us find just the right beers for the 3 people in our party. She recommended an interesting combination of Guinness and blackberry currant as a dessert beer for one person in our party and she loved it! The weather was warm enough for us to sit outside on their front patio, which was nice.
N. D.
Burger's meat was very dry and we could barely taste alcool in the cocktails. Overall it's fine
M. D.
Great place for a drink after work. Ample place to sit down and relax. Staff very friendly. Only negative is the time it takes to get food. If you order some, get ready for a very long wait. All in all though, a very nice pub.
D. R.
Very expensive. Nice enough atmosphere but nearly £7 for a G&T and just under £10 for a glass of red wine.
A. F.
Great outside space in the summer. Good beer selection. Inside is rather average.
M. S.
Quick ad hoc lunch outside with friends. Thought busy road would ruin experience. It didn't. Set far enough back from street.
Great staff. An unexpected joy.
J. B.
A nice London Pub that serves food. I've not actually eaten there but what others were eating looked nice. Beer is at the usual London extortionate prices but, they do have a reasonable range of ales. I can't comment on the lager as I am not of that persuasion but I think they have a couple of cider options too.
They show sports and there are a couple of dart boards too.
There is a large outside area with tables, chairs and heat lamps. I think there is also a television screen outside too but cannot be sure. A nice little touch is that they provide blankets outside should you be one to feel the cold.
Staff are friendly and the fact that the place does not get rammed like it would on the other side of the river is a bonus.
I usually go there once a year whilst staying in London at the hotel opposite and the standards have remained the same.
My only two gripes are the price of drinks and that they close at 23:00 hrs.
S. M.
Very pleasant staff and the food is good
J. H.
Great place, reasonable prices and friendly staff. It's a really good place to go for a drink and would thoroughly recommend it. There are pub games and even a small area with some books. The place gets fairly busy and loud at times, especially after work on a Friday.
J. R.
Darts, good. Strong beer selection, good. Plenty of screens for the football, good. Everything else is pretty ropey if I'm honest. The place looks utterly cobbled together and the food is all over the place. Not the worst option near Southwark though
T. S.
Service was reasonably quick, from friendly staff, eve though there were quite few people there for a leaving do.
There is food available but I only tried the sweet potato chips which were far too easy to eat.
There is a reasonable selection of beers from craft breweries, real ale breweries and large international drinks companies.
M. H.
Staff where great. In these different/difficult times they delivered drinks to the table always with a smile.. Great night thanks so much for making it better!
R.
Under the present circumstances, staff were tops. Very nice outdoor space. Good menu
S. g.
Large pub with very friendly staff. Heated outside area and blankets for when it's cold. Good selection of drinks. Cheap (and very cheap for central London) food but good quality. Huge pub if you are with a big group. Good atmosphere later in the week too
S. K.
Nice pub with plenty of outdoors seating with heaters. Beer prices are good for London with a pint of Young's Gold bitter only £4.00 a pint. The staff were friendly and efficient.
L. G.
Visited this pub because of its location to the Novotel. We had a couple of drinks and pizza. All were served swiftly, the pizza was delicious, one of the best I've had and exceptionally good value.
V.
Ordered steak frites, medium. Half the steak was well done and tough, half was medium and tender. Staff is very nice. You order at the bar. My steak didn't come with a sauce but I ordered peppercorn sauce and it was one of the best I've had.
M. L.
Good atmosphere and decent puzzas
J. B.
Well stocked bar, plenty of seating and standing space, really decent food, darts, smallish toilet and polite staff. Our office's regular for leaving and retirement gatherings.
M. G.
Reasonable pricing. I stayed across the street and every night there seemed to be a nice crowd m. Nice outdoor seating. Staff is friendly. I appreciated their suggestions and helpful hints for my traveling
K. R.
Decent place, nice atmosphere. Good selection of beers. Has changed a bit since it became a RAM pub, but all for the better, I think. Staff friendly as ever. 🙂
A. M.
My "local". Decent atmosphere, decent food and friendly staff. A great place to be.
G. G.
Lovely bar for a drink after our meal nearby.
S. C.
Cozy pub. Nice service but I didn't enjoy my meal. My falafel wrap contained rock hard falafels and the bread was soft and chewy, accompanied by large chunks of roughly chopped iceberg lettuce and tomatoes which I'm guessing was supposed to be a salad. Perhaps I made a bad choice!
M. G.
Great pub with nice out door space when the weather is nice.
The pub has been recently refurbished.
We tend to go to play darts in the evening or a quick bite at lunch time.
Standard pub food on offer.
R. J.
Classic cheap and cheerful pub, lovely, friendly ladies behind the bar and great outside seating for warm weather.
Decent Young's pints on tap as well as London staples, cheap food quickly served and nice wood oven fired pizzas.
E. R.
Friendly pub with darts and football and some comfy armchairs. Eclectic clientele. Pleasant atmosphere.
Not tried the food yet but the menu looks good.
r. g.
A fantastic pub with great staff. Anyone who wants to drink should go there
C. B.
Stopped for a quick lunch on the way to a meeting. Staff were very pleasant and the service efficient plus the meals were not expensive and good sized portions. The sort of place you would not hesitate to return to.
M. H.
I love this pub. It has an amazing atmosphere. Great service and well priced for a London pub. Excellent outside area with a heated section with blankets. The perfect all round pub. Deserves every star. Well done!
Q.
The location and pub itself is great along with the staff. The food however is a different problem. I got food for myself and my mum for mothers day only to have it arrive stone cold, and when we had it heated up the food was un-eatable. Which is a shamce because if it had come out hot the first time round it would have been good.
D. N.
What a wonderful start to the xmas holiday. Staff 1st class presentations excellent. I have had the pleasure of coming here for lunch and after work. Never been disappointed . Thank you to all the staff . Xmas dinner package well worth the money. Portion size excellent. Tates wonderful .
A. H.
I like this pub as it is in a quirky location, but not too far from Blackfriars and Southbank.
There is a good seating area to the front and they have a good selection of beers to choose from. Haven't eaten here but if I do then I'll post back.
Staff are always pleasant and the prices aren't too bad for the location
p. s.
The selection of beers has increased and you can now find the more unusual there and they are expertly poured 😊
S. W.
Good value, popular pub with nicely cooked food and friendly staff. Good beer too. Pizzas are excellent value, especially for London
J. B.
Bit of a low-key darts boozer, brightly lit inside (for the darts?) so not much atmosphere. But less expensive and crowded than others places in the area. Have blankets for the outside seating in winter.
p. h.
Watched a game of football on the TV with a nice pizza and a cider on a comfy chair
P. U.
Very nice friendly establishment, very friendly staff cattered to my friends needs as she has special requirements and needs which they throughly catered for with a friendly smile under their mask xx
C. Y.
Had the Sunday roast chicken dinner. It was excellent. Had veg's, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Plenty of good food at a reasonable price.
Well worth the visit.
C. M.
Celebrated my 30th there with a group of 25 people and the staff were very nice and accommodating. Will come back!
D. T.
Nice local pub feel. Large outdoor patio with heatlamps if needed. Full english breakfast available all day and was very good. Only wish they were open a bit later.
T. T.
Fish and chips: reliably fresh, crispy and tasty; a proper selection of beers and ales to please the connoisseur's palate; friendly and responsive staff; signs of wear on the interior give a cosy feel; mind the upper threshold of the gents' if tall... all you would be looking for in a London pub.
S. B.
Good drinks selection, very helpful and friendly staff. Great outside space (heaters, blankets). Top tip- try the pizzas, you won't regret it!
P. D.
Lots of outdoor space, and a nice crisp house white. What more do you need on a Friday night?
J. L.
Nice food. Good drinks.
R. M.
Nice open place. Staff polite and drinks reasonably priced for location. Outside seating area with heaters is nice touch when it cold. Summer time the outside seating area is really nice.
T. S.
Classic British pub. Ordered stale and ale pie, very tasty. Good atmosphere, reasonably priced. A more than decent eat in the Bankside area
J. L.
As a local I want to love this pub, but some of the staff should find new jobs if bar work makes them so miserable. Do what you enjoy...however, the blonde barmaid is lovely and is always friendly, she should be the team leader!
K. R.
Service for drinks was very fast, seating both indoor and outdoor is also good. However, food orders do take a while so be prepared for a long wait!
j. p.
Nice to see they had Winter Warmer on the handpumps. Stopped for a pint and watch a bit of sport. Nice area at far end of bar with comfy seats and the TV.
m. g.
It's a shame the staff don't know how to clear the tables anymore!
Standing around and dosing, the pub isn't even busy, I took our dirty plates to the bar and wasn't even acknowledged! Beside us there are still dirty plates and the people have left!!
D. L.
Pleasant enough pub on Blackfriars Road with a large outside seating area which suffers from being on a busy road.
Food is typical pub grub: perfectly acceptable but nothing special.
T. W.
Great service from a great team from the waiter’s through to the managers for food and drinks!
C. T.
Big beer garden, efficient staff, OK food, decent choice of drinks, good prices. Busy on a Friday night but still pretty quick bar service.
R. E.
Good beer, great outdoor seating/smoking area. Staff were friendly, and you can set up a tab so handy for corporate groups
J. D.
A great time, good atmosphere, excellent kobe burger and chips♡
S. W.
Closest bar to work. Not bad, but not very interesting. Good if your a smoker during the colder months: large terrace with heat lamps.
S. D. -. N. P.
Great value for money and tasty food! Will be back to try the cocktails
R. B.
Nice enough, and ok for a quick drink. Beer is good, however the pub is very narrow meaning it feels like you're having a drink in a corridor
F. B.
Realy lovely Pub with a familiar Atmosphere. The food was delicous und the staff ready friendly. Don't be iritated because they Lieferung pizza ;-)
A. G.
Nice open bar. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Drinks reasonably priced. Food was very good too
M. K.
Top pizza, top friendly staff..a proper locals pub at the weekend
C. B.
Met a mate for a spot of lunch and a catch up.
Good food
Good drinks
Very clean
Great staff
Ok prices
Tennis on the very large screen which was not imposing if you didn't care about it
All in all a very pleasant pub
J. H.
Good garden. Good beer. Friendly and efficient staff.
S. C.
Nice location and lots of board games. Food is nothing special and bit pricey, but I guess in that area is pretty normal.
I would suggest to visit it if you're not too far and into games/with friends.
E. B.
I was served a pint of beer which was flat. Returned it still full and they did not credit it....charged me for another.
Food was adequate...expected for a pub.
Very nice patio....poor srvice
D. P.
Very large pub close to City has good outside space, partially covered, with comfortable chairs. Good selection of ales and lagers.
P. H.
The Prince William Henry is a large pub with good sized forecourt with large and small tables -part under cover- with expansive views of Blackfriars Road..
It is NOT a posh pub or fancy bar, but is respectable and clean and has a good range of modern beers and enough staff -meaning you get served promptly (unlike endless queuing at other, smarter venues). The outside is large and handy both for smokers but also in the Great British Summer.
C. v. C.
Lovely spacious pub, with a covered kind of al fresco area. Beer prices not at the lower end of the acceptable range.
S. B.
Great food lovely staff, good prices (for London)
S. D.
Not the best pub in the area and the service is quite poor, but it redeems itself with a fab outside eating area, which is great on a nice day and good for large groups.
K. C.
Good menu well cooked reasonably priced food. Busy but no long waits at bar
T. D. C.
It was my mother in laws birthday and she wanted to try the Sunday lunch here.
The food was very nice and reasonably priced, we will be visiting again!
M. S.
The staff is really welcoming and the food is simple but made by hand and very tatsy. The building and furniture add to the atmosphere very well.
T. L.
Very nice Pub with fantastic food and great drinks! We will definitely come back on our next stay!
P. D. T.
Really great pub. Fantastic bar staff and good selection of food. Nice event room at the back.
C. M.
Great table service and friendly staff. Outdoor heaters would be appreciated.
Ñ.
Is a wonderful place to lunch or dinner whatever you prefer .. and you can drink a lot of kinds of differences beer and the best experience for us is of course the service of the staff
We'll go again
Z. F.
fish & chips with salad for 7£. And they ware delishes ;-) Totaly recomend this with dark Guinees... British pub at night with some great food. We ware there at openig hours at 11 and staff was very polite...
C. H.
Like most Weatherspoons, good value and comfortable surroundings. Conservatory is a little hot in super sunny weather though.
A. B.
The food is whatever. It's not awful, but if you have other options head there. The prawn mayo ciabatta was mostly breas, don't recommend.
J. P.
Nice pub. Good grub. Never too busy or packed - which is probably due to its miserable (female) staff.
A. S.
Great pizzas even if you have to wait 25 minutes for it.
P. N.
Excellent food and nice beer. But our seat was a bit drafty on the cold evening that we was there.
H. C.
Great food. The pizzas good. Fish and chips was nice. And prices were reasonable
M. G.
Nice pub with large outdoor area and good selection. A bit let down by the food and the slow service.
T. F.
Good team made it better.
Gettinrf tired but great concept with the indoor outdoor smoking area and screens outside.
Also like the selection of beers
J. M.
Good pub, great outdoor space and good selection of ale and lager. Food was good for the price.
J. S.
Relaxed and friendly. Good specials are great. Music is happy and not to loud...a really nice lunch place to sit and chat.
N. H.
First visit on a hot sunny day. Quick , efficient and polite service. Good beer (larger) and food was fresh and hot.
A. H.
Good beer. Ok food. Friendly staff. Can be busy with the after work crowd. Be prepared to stand.
S. W.
Nice little London pub. Large outdoor seating area. Very nice atmosphere, good food.
K. M.
not a bad bar - well stocked, nice outside area - might suck a bit in bad weather. Interesting mix in clientelle
S. A.
Trying thier absolute best in the current circumstances . Great food and drink selection .
P. R.
Great for families and for craft beers. Staff friendly. I can imagine it being brilliant in the summer. X
M. B.
Good food
C. P.
Good friendly service easy table booking allocation system would recommend a visit
R. K.
