Reviews of Princess of Prussia
B. M.
Chilled out place with very friendly service, naturally it was fairly quiet for a Monday night. Ordered three starters for £16, the food was served hot and came out fairly quickly. Nice amount of spice in the dishes, tasted good. I think with the name Princess of Prussia I was expecting the decor to be a bit different inside, the olde pub style benches don't lend themselves for relaxed eating. I wouldn't let that deter me going again and would be interesting to try the beer garden in the summer.
P. H.
Excellent pub near Tower Bridge. It has a really traditional look (Victorian all the way), a good range of beers on tap and excellent Thai food. Definitely recommended and the prices are very good
M. C.
A relaxed old pub in East London which serves some really tasty Thai food 👌
G. R.
Lovely pub in the city centre and nice to see Shepard Neame still around! The whistable Bay lager is a personal 1st choice in here and on a summers day you can sit in the garden and enjoy the sun whilst drinking a refreshing pint. Would recommend coming here if in the area. The jukebox has some brilliant tracks on too.
J. R.
This traditional London pub was recommended by a taxi driver whilst visiting on holiday and staying in the area.
A lovely clean pub full of character , charm and friend bar people. I small garden at the back makes this pub a hidden jem!!!!My friend and I visited afew times during our stay and tried the Thai food which was exceptional. Highly recommended.
S. C.
Lovely pub. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Large beer garden behind the pub too. Drinks reasonable priced and only found out my auntie and uncle met on this pub the other day in 1995. Amazing!
S. F.
One of my Favourite pubs in london!
Love the decor that transports you back into the times of old!
They offer thai food as well, and as a thai person myself I cna say that the food was suprisingly authentic and delicious.
only critisism is that the food was not authentically spicy, but otherwise delicious.
amazing pub with freindly staff
R. D. W.
Super friendly staff. Perfect pub vibe.
This was my first (unintentional) stop in London on a solo trip. It was close to my hostel and I was looking for a quick bite + pint. Their kitchen opens later - I think 19:00 - and it was easy to stay entertained with great conversation with the staff and very approachable pub goers while I waited. I was there during the week during what would still be considered happy hour and noticed the place to be filled predominantly with men. Not a problem for me...! I ordered non traditional British food, some concoction of cauliflower, lentils and goat cheese. Stay away from that... go with the traditional menu and you should be just fine! Fair prices, great beer selection.
T. C.
A pretty little pub with a really lovely beer garden - A nice place to sit on a warm day!
R. M.
Fantastic gem of an old fashioned pub located on the edge of White Chapel and a short walk from Tower of London. Delicious food with excellent and friendly bar staff. Delightful beer garden at rear of pub which acts as a hidey-hole from the bustle of tourism. Very highly recommended and a must visit!
M. D.
Great pub, found on FB: London Pubs.
R. Q.
Guiness and decor great, music and vibe bad. Had to leave due to cold even though fire was going. Had to ask for music to be put back on twice hidden gem for sure but when it’s quiet the service must slip
A. M. (. W. T. M. E.
Amazing hidden gem ! It looks like and ... well actually it is a Pub with ales and beer but ... believe me, the thai menu and food is really tasty !! We love it .
They allow dogs which we do love more .
W. G.
Traditional, historic pub tucked away in East London. Loads of atmosphere with a pretty courtyard garden at the rear.
D. S.
Really large, traditional pub in Whitechapel. On the outskirts of being a real City pub - a good thing, as it attracts a more eclectic mix of customers.
Good selection of well-kept ales and decent quality traditional pub food.
Been a few times (in my City suit!) and always found the staff and regulars to be really friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
A. T.
What an incredible traditional pub, really warm welcome, great history to the place. If you just want a non gimmick pub, where you can sit and talk to friends this it. Yes there is a jukebox and a TV but you're never overwhelmed by either. Lovely to see this place busy on a Friday night, always worth a visit
C. C.
Great traditional pub, with a twist... a decent selection of ales, and Thai food.
M. J.
Excellent food. Beat our expectations. Friendly service. Large patio in the back.
L. E.
Love the place, but my god is the price steep for draughtees as of late.
£6.50 for a Camden Hells. I can understand the spirit and wine prices, this just feels a little over the top. The full staff tracksuit, doesn’t really match the price tag. I worked in a nearby pub with much lower prices and there was still a no hoodie and trackie-bottoms rule. Definitely don’t feel like the target audience here. Best wishes to the lovely owners Darren amd Janet though, have a lot of respect for them.
H. C.
Beautiful east london pub staff was amazing brilliant selection of drinks and great Thai food
L. j. S.
Lovely traditional pub with old preserved Truman's frontage. Serves Thai food aswell as traditional
M. C.
Nice tidy pub, great heated outdoor area and decent beers on tap!
J. P.
Lovely cosy pub with a real log fire full of friendly locals.
D. C.
A bit like the Tardis - it's much bigger on the inside. Great interior gives it a nice old fashioned charm also has outside space.
Z. L.
Beautiful place, authentic English pub, great fun
M. D.
Perfect East End Public House. Great atmosphere and excellent range of beers and wines.
T. T.
Fantastic reasonably priced boozer with great pints and a friendly atmosphere
P. B.
Adore this place. Great beer, great staff, great surroundings and a fab jukebox to boot. What's not to dig?
Awesome little suntrap of a beer garden out back, too.
Love it.
J. K.
Food was great. Good menu but no one there! Such a shame as a little hidden gem
P.
A proper pub. Great selection on offer
A. H.
Great pub, good beer but amazing food for very reasonable prices. The building itself is very traditional and in a great location. Staff are quite nice and friendly. It has probably one of the least known beer gardens in Central London, it is quite well kept and secluded. Just note that is not opened in Sundays, besides that it is a great place, probably one of the best in these area.
S. W.
Lovely pub garden with heaters, a nice quiet pub compared to some of the places in the area. Friendly staff and nice choice of drinks.
G. A.
Lovely service, nice staff, lovely quiet atmosphere and good food
M. P.
Had a weeekend away in London for our honeymoon as couldn't go away, was staying at the Royal leonardo a stones throw away, can honestly say it was a very cosy pub with great service and delicious food we both had Thai curries and they were absolutely banging.
G. K.
Nice old man’s pub. Great place to go after work.
L. J. F.
Good food and a nice quiet pub (on a random Wednesday evening...)
M. K. L.
Nice cosy pub. Yummy Thai food. Highly recommended. No poster inside the pub. Landlord should publicise about the food.
S. C.
Great food, drink, decor and people... so go already!
S. M.
This is a charming pub. The staff are all so friendly. I had a lovely chat with the manager, and the bartender and chef also stopped by to say hello, which was really nice. The sausage and mash were excellent, and there was a very good selection of cask ales. It's a really great spot!
C. M.
The pub has a delightful old feel to it. We had a few beers and sat in a nice beer garden situated at the back. I had a very nicely kept IPA which was delicious. The food here is That food and looked nice. I didn't eat but the table behind us had a delicious looking dish. The price of the food is also very reasonable. I would certainly recommend the pub to anyone staying nearby.
A. D.
Nice quiet little pub. Not the cheapest, but it's the only proper pub (not bar or pub restaurant in the area).
B. G.
The beer was all right and the staff was friendly. I had to leave rather early as I had places to be, but still, really nice place.
H. W.
Liked this a great deal on my first visit. Good interior, great pint of Masterbrew, engaging landlord. Open and quiet on Saturdays. Terrific little courtyard garden.... I'll be back! In a fascinating street and historical interesting area but off the beaten tourist track. Well worth finding and exploring!
J. D.
Excellent old style pub of shock there aren't many left. Has a wide range of beers and wines. Serves great homemade bar food and also a Thai chef who will cook you a great Thai curry. A large beer garden out the back. Found the staff to be very friendly. Overall a great experience had.
P. M.
An amazing pub with extremely fun & friendly staff. Really nice vibe with people singing along to classic hits at the bar. Beautiful courtyard in the back with lovely vegetation, tables and lighting. Has become the go-to spot for after work drinks and fun.
J. O.
Great local pub with huge character and a great choice of ales. Called in on an early Saturday evening and we were warmly greeted and received excellent service. We didn't eat here but there were a couple of people eating and the food looked really good and homemade. Well worth a visit.
G. M.
Amazing Asian food, hard recommend.
M. M.
A nice local pub with a lovely beer garden hidden out back. Good selection of ales and wine, more limited on cider and beer. Great new menu.
Quite decently priced and generally doesn't get too busy.
D. G.
Great old school pub with lots of character
B. B.
We had the fish & chips and a few pints, outstanding! The staff is great and the gentleman who greeted us (George) is very pleasant , he seated us and then explained a few things about the pub. What a great experience!
Update....it was so great last night that we came back for more, fish & chips two nights in a row.....yes, it was that good and tonight, we had the apple crumble for dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, all I can say OMG! If we lived in London this would be our nightly spot!
We were honored to meet the owner of the pub, Daron and the chef, David. George, Daron and David, as well as the entire staff made us feel like family.
If you visit here, ask George about his Mother and Queen Victoria.....she was a very special lady.
We feel very lucky to have found this place.
J. S.
Small but we'll kept collection of ales. Wine menu looked interesting and bar staff seemed knowledgeable. Cozy atmosphere for a traditional "city pub" and a pleasant beer garden at the back. Will definitely visit again.
P. H.
The greatest pub I have been in for many years. Delicious food. Great beers. Staff are legends. Nice beer garden. A proper pub oasis in a world where most pubs are no longer proper.
R. U.
Working away from home, and after spending an awful week at the Premier Inn for my evening meals, discovered this place on my last night. Superb Thai food, great choice of beers and super friendly staff. This place really is a hidden gem, complete with cheeky beer garden and affordable prices. I really wish I'd discovered it sooner !!
R. M.
I was staying in the area with friends form The Netherlands and trying to find that elusive thing a traditional pub. We stumbled across this place and despite initial misgivings about the exterior found just what I had hoped for. Great welcome, attentive staff, good food and a wide range of beer what more could you ask for. Great Pub and well received by the Dutch contingent.
P. M.
It is a very nice place but pricey
f. l.
Amazing vintage pub with great beers/food and staff. Ill be back every time i can. Thank you
G. J.
Amazing pub, great drinks, great food and great staff. The garden in the back is a lovely place to have a meal and a drink on a nice hot day. If you're in the are I recommend a visit.
Z. M.
Beautiful building with decor to match. clean, comfortable seating. Hearth in the back area but all this does come at a price ££. At over £5 a pint, if its a cheap drink you're after, look elsewhere.
V. N.
One of the best pubs in London. Ask for '1698' beer, pocket warm :)

❤️ This Stunning Victorian pub is a must visit if your ever in this neck of the woods. The pub is kinda split in to two, there is a cosy carpeted area at the back and the main bar at the front. The walls are adorned with old Victorian pictures of times gone by and the ceiling have brass lights and fans. There is a good selection of beers and wines and a Thai menu with British favourites for the less adventurous. Really enjoyed my pint in here as there's not too many of these boozers about.

Very lovely authentic pub near Tower Bridge.
Last time I've found this pub was in 2013, when I searched for an authentic and well-run pub with an excellent range of British ales and good food. Back then I found everything I'd loved about pubs in this little jewel, and now coming back after 2 years it seems the spirit is continuing and the pub has even improved! So to sum up:
Drinks: there's a range of ales and beers, which are excellent in taste and quality, and the price is what you have everywhere in zones 1-2 in London (i.e. around £4-5 per pint).
Food: had a burger and French fries. Burger was best I've had in London so far, meat was fresh, tasty and tender, not the cartilaginous stuff you get in most take away fast food shops; and French fries were freshly fried and tasty.
Service: just excellent - attentive, warm and welcoming, inviting you to stay a while longer than intended.
Atmosphere: warm and cosy, and there's a lovely green garden to sit outside in the backyard.
In addition, this pub does not seem to be as overcrowded as others in the area, most likely due to the entrance not being as big and "attractive" as others, i.e. from outside it doesn't look that much, but inside it's all you'll ever want from a pub!
R. H.
This is a diamond in the rough, of overdevelopment, trendy hipsters and franchised nightmares!
The outside beer garden is amazing, and the staff are super helpful and chatty.
I had a pint of The black stuff and it took the standard 5minuted to pour [as it should] and tasted great!
The jukebox has some tunes that should always be on repeat.
Great.

I was recently on a 3 day break with my mum staying at the Grange hotel and we wanted to have a drink somewhere with some atmosphere. Luckily we stumbled upon the Prince of Prussia😀It is a great Old school London pub with lovely funny staff, a good choice of beers and wine and a juke box that can play pretty much any track you want. I'm sad I don't live near it !!!
m. f.
A hidden gem. Traditional London pub, with a great little garden out the back.
R. K.
This place was described to me as "An old man boozer" and after being in there i know exactly what was meant. It's a traditional drinking pub with a range of real ales, lagers and bottled beer. As an added bonus they do food-thai food-and it is really rather good and excellent value for money. Staff are friendly too!
D.
Traditional pub where we enjoyed a beautiful Sunday roast. Stuff is welcoming and friendly, I would recommend this place if you are looking for a cozy pub in the central area without having to pay a disproportionate bill for a roast.
S. T.
Found this wonderful pub on last visit to London. Staff are really attentive and friendly and the food is really really good. Chef cam twice to see if the food was ok and we were enjoying it. Its anreally quirky pub
T. B.
A lovely pub. Friendly staff, great choice of beers and excellent thai food. A great place to meet friends, listen to the juke box. Some of my best nights have been spent here!
C. B.
Traditional pub. Excellent service. I loved the fact that they offered tasters of the beer before buying. Beer garden at the back -excellent for the occasional hot Spring evening.
E. S.
A good local, juke box, average beer selection but friendly staff. All good, and despite the bearded Scottish moron who works there from time to time, who incidentally sounds Irish (he's an argumentative and shouty goose, avoid), it's a good pub. Decent food too.
E. F.
Relatively quiet old fashioned interior with lots of wood. Shepherd Neame beers in good condition. Beer garden at the back but not the weather to check it out.
J. A.
Great food and drinks, the atmosphere is really nice as well!
D. A.
A cosy "old school" pub with very freindly service and resonably priced delicious food. The times I have visited it has not been very busy but getting served instantly and having the whole beer garden to yourself can be very nice on a summers eve. A relaxing and cheery pub!
M. C.
Great little pub. It's a Shepherd Neame pub, so the beer is pretty predictable but thoroughly enjoyable. The garden is a great little sun trap on a hot summer's day, and often quiet.
N. J.
Traditional London pub, with great beer and wonderful Thai food for under £20 a head. What's not to like?! Massaman curry. Mmmmm.
B. S.
Very cosy place. Nice open-air back garden with enough space. Service is warm and polite. Not a great collection of beer as in some other pubs but good enough. Good location too in a queit area minutes from Tube and DLR. Usually best for drinks after work.
Y. 4.
a nice mix of people in the bar. Very nice and traditional inside. Wood panel walls with lots of old school pictures.
Beer very nice . Recommend the Spitfire beer.
B. T.
Great Pub cant wait to watch the football there again Sunday :)
K. F.
Lovely setting, music and atmosphere. Just mind out for one of the staff who pushes through mid conversation to pickup glasses. Overkeen / not necessary /only downside of rhe bar. Otherwise really nice

Love this little pub, they have good beers and a nice little yard. But best of all they have a cracking jukebox and they are few and far between these days!
T. S.
Sort of a hidden gem, with friendly staff and super cozy beer garden. Not the widest selection of beers, but worth a visit for a pint in the back garden.

Great little pub, always a fun environment and the bartenders are always happy to chat!
A. B.
A great place for a casual drink but I would not go out of my way to drink there. Selection of beers and ales is solid but the house wine is poor and overpriced.
B. W. (.

WHAT A FACADE

Lovely atmosphere. Good selection of beers and ciders. My burger wasn't excellent but that's my fault for choosing a burger in a place that serves Thai food. I'm told by my companions that the Thai food was spectacular. Next time I'm there, I'll be thai all the way.
