Reviews of Prospect of Whitby

We stumbled upon this little treasure a couple of months ago and I find myself back there almost every weekend. So much history, such an amazing view to top it off.
The staff is always welcoming and we are always well taken care off by Sonny who is the kindest, sweetest soul you’ll come across. He definitely makes staying there for hours worthwhile .
This place is one of my top tier happy places in London. Will be there soon again

London’s oldest riverside inn. Pub from 1520 that was a meeting place for pirates, sailors and many famous people.
Nice location and great views of the river and the city. I was seated at the top floor with view. I loved the place, confortable, tasty food and nice staff.

Great afternoon pint of Guinness here. A real gem of a find and will be back. Fantastic menu options available and very reasonable prices. Didn't eat as had a late breakfast but had a pint or two. On a quiet back street in Wapping, lovely staff, great outdoor areas and looking forward to returning and trying a traditional pie meal. A must do in London.

This is a Great place to Enjoy a Relaxing pint with Food and, experience the Ambience and History of, one of London's Oldest pub's, situated in Wapping, overlooking the River Thames, with Spectacular views in either Direction, and you are right in the Heart of London's Historic Docklands, which made London the City it is Today.... This once Bustling Area, would have watched Ships coming from all over the world 🌎, with Cargos of Tea, Coffee, Spices and Sugar...to name a few.... this pub is a Great part of London's AmazingHistory.... if you look Closely at my last photo, you will see the old Hangman's Noose....

Here I am, posting pictures of the waves instead of food, but oh my word, their outside spaces are amazing. Especially the balcony. Grab a seat on the balcony if you can.
This pub has a charming historic vibe with the curious explanations on the walls highlighting the tidbits of its history.
It's really well designed, being at once pleasantly spacious and yet intimate. The staff are very friendly, too.

A great riverside pub experience.
Much bigger than you think with outdoor area and an upstairs plus a terrace looking out to the Thames and Canary Wharf. When the tide is low, you can go down to the banks of the Thames and have a wonder around. Just don't be too to worried when you see the the noose!
Apparently it's the oldest riverside pub this side of London. I am pleased that many of the old features of this pub has been preserved so it really does look like from another time. I would imagine this is what tourists would love and want - a true British pub experience.
The food could be a bit more substantial though. I would skip the platter and go for an individual main course. Be also advised that the blue moon is not on tap as is advertised on the app, but is actually only a bottle.
The only gripes I have, but other than that I would recommend visiting this historic pub, and I certainly will be back again.

A real gem of a pub! Sort of what they should all be like in terms on having character and charm! A great place to stop off on a thanes path jaunt.
Decent vegan food offered and prices aren’t out of this world, staff seemed happy and attentive.
Would like to see more than one vegan red wine on the menu but otherwise all good.

My favourite riverside pub, helps that it’s only 2mins walk away! But always a good vibe, great views up and down the river. A couple more wines by the glass would be nice but the beers are great and rotated often.
