Reviews of Punch & Judy
M.
The batter on the fish was tasty and crispy and the size of the fish was more than plenty for me.
Just a remark: As a tourist I was not aware I had to order at the bar so they could have told me since I was sitting on a table for 15 minutes just waiting while passing by me and serving other people.
Staff was friendly and helpful though.
D. G.
Unbeatable balcony overlooking the performances at Covent Garden. Good for beers and other aperitifs and also for digestives. All the pub has got charm indeed and every time I have been there the atmosphere was great (tourists mainly, of course, but the smartest ones).
This time we got a sit in the very first row, as a little compensation for the long lasting desert crossing of last year.
Next time we will check the food.
M. D.
If you can get a balcony view, make sure the weather is dry. Not much room upstairs to accommodate a full bar plus the rush in from the rain. Good selection of beers and prompt service. Décor is of the time i.e. 1670's. although the lighting is now electric.
Dining is provided in the basement which, again, is of the time. Dark, dreary and almost unfurnished. There is a separate 'Garden' area that has natural light but is very popular. If you book a table, you will be in the "VIP" area - the basement. Steak was OK and the gammon were more like chops. Platter was really nice and the plate cleared in no time.
Service was quick and cheerful but we needed flash lights to read the menu.
A. C.
A "must do" place to stop and have a pint. Sit at the outside bar, overlooking the street below and enjoy the sunset... like I did.
w. p.
loved it.. only stopping for a quick drink ended up eating and staying there for a good couple of hours.. Atmosphere is great.. feels just like a local pub where you would know everyone. keep up the amazing work 👏
A.
Atmospheric pub set in Convent Gardens steeped in history with low vaulted ceilings on the ground floor and on the first floor a balcony over looking St Pauls (not the big one!!) where you can watch street performances while havi g a mulled wine!!
T. C.
The pub is back… thanks to Punch & Judy. Our first day in London and we were craving the pub classics: Fish & Chips! (with a pint of Guinness!!) Lovely pub in Covent Garden, easily enjoyed, kind staff, highly recommendable. As they say, “… let’s raise a glass, together at last.” cheers 🍻
d.
Pub located in the basement. Old, rustic style. Daily good selection of beers. Star less for not serving any hot drinks.
P.
It has a wonderful terrace! 😊 you can watch free street performances. I really like it!
P. L.
I love this pub so much! In the middle of Covent Garden and have amazing food and drinks. I recommend
D. “. B.
Didn't stay long but missed my train because of this place.
The staff are work horses, trying to get through as many tasks as possible from serving drinks, clearing tables to giving directions.
Atmosphere was welcoming and the food was good without the typical London pricing.
Would definitely go again.
N. R. D. S.
Always enjoy a pint or two in here before a Covent Garden meal, and they never fail to impress. Great atmosphere, super staff and quality ale. Oh they take cash too which it seems is rare these days!!
F. R.
One of my favourite pubs in Covent Garden! The balcony has views of regular street performers, inside has a lovely vibe, usually very busy though. Highly recommend if visiting Covent Garden!
B. P.
Looks like an amazing place with a cool view from the bar, but we were dining so we'll definitely come back. The food is great.
E. C.
Had a quick drink before going to theatre. Prices not too bad! Shame they don't do cocktails! Staff were friendly. Nice to sit on balcony and watch buskers and look out over Covent garden.
H. p.
Nice place for a drink, with a great view over Covent Garden.
S. E.
Love this pub and it is one of the best in Covent Garden always busy and great for people watching whilst enjoying a lovely Pint of the Finest Aspell cider!! Always great food and fast Efficient and very helpful service see you again soon 🍻🍺👍👌😀
N. T.
Unique location and atmosphere, delightful from balcony to cellar. Sharing platter to lick your fingers and crafted ale to make your taste buds sing. Packing serious punch.
b.
A really good central covent garden pub ,especially the balcony bar where you can watch the street performers below. A bit pricey but for location expected .
Good mix but mostly tourists at weekends .Always a good atmosphere and food decent but again not cheap .
C. G.
We had dinner here on a Sunday evening. They were out of mulled wine and beef Sunday roast, which was a bummer. We were able to get a patio table without a wait, which was great. We waited for a few minutes for a server, but turns out you have to order at the bar with your table number - not a problem, but there aren't any signs to let you know. Finally, the server we ordered from was curt, which didn't help things.
S. M.
I'm giving 3 stars for very friendly and nice staff members and tasty nachos with pulled pork but burgers, fish were very pub like, very average in taste and especially fries were really not great... the location of this pub is very good, the interior design and decorations were very nice but food quality for Covent Garden should be better.
The beer selection is actually impressive so that made our visit much better. Overall big potential with great Team behind the bar but kitchen should do a better job 🧐good luck to improve the quality of food 😉
P. R.
Good location for Covent Garden and a nice balcony overlooking the street performers. The prices for drinks though are seriously inflated! £7.20 for a pint of larger at the time of writing!
D.
Superb place, fun atmosphere and you can stand on the balcony and watch the street performers
L. S.
Lovely pub in Covent Garden.
Prices are very honest considering the location. Staff is friendly and kind.
Beautiful Christmas atmosphere.
C. L.
Just finished work and came for dinner with some friends. We really enjoyed ourselves and I would recommend coming here for some food. The team was also very nice.
A. W.
2 bars 2 choose from. Its good 2 go upstairs & get out on2 the balcony. U can watch all what's goin on with the street acts. Always seems busy.
P. D.
As good a place as any of meeting up in Covent garden, although they didn't have much of a choice of hand pulled ales when we visited. Plenty of seats inside and a good terrace area outside (although also inside). No queue at the bar even on a Friday evening. Staff were very good at keeping an eye on who's next to be served.
D. D.
Really nice pub in the heart of Covent Garden. It was slightly difficult to get seated, in the sense that we had to wait for a bit and when we saw that nobody is paying attention to us we decided to look for a table ourselves. Once seated we had to wait for our menus a while. The food was tasty, maybe the fish was a bit too oily, and the beers were really good. The prices are okay, not so expensive.
I would recommend it for the food but they could work a bit on welcoming customers faster or at least engage with them.
J. N.
As expensive as ever, something that will never change.
Greene King IPA was the only offering on handpull so I opted for Beavertown Neckoil.
Ordered the scampi and chips. The chips and peas were good but the portion of scampi was scant.
P. D.
Pub with lot of history, not too expensive at £5.50 for a pint seeing where it is, in Covent Garden but called last orders and then shortly after drink up please
R. M.
We sat outside on the balcony to watch the excellent street entertainment below... It was just like being in a Royal Box at the theatre lol.
Was not familiar with the draft beer on offer so was offered a samples to assist with making my choice.
The lunchtime / early afternoon atmosphere was very relaxed.
S. H.
Oh wow need to come back when it's warmer. A eeal novelty pub & lots of steps to balcony part. Service good & nice atmosphere too. Can only imagine how Summer would be
D. N.
A great place for lunch if you're in the Covent Garden area. Lovely Upper level with open bar area and terrace if the sun is shining and a very cozy lower bar, again with terrace undercover of the piazza area.
Very friendly staff and lovely food. Highly recommended
J. P.
One of our favourite pubs to visit when in Covent Garden! Really good atmosphere and very tasty food. Bar staff exceptionally friendly too, replaced an accidentally dropped pint for free no questions asked! 😅
J. B.
Fantastic facilities, I popped in here because the public toilet opposite wanted a quid. The toilets were really clean and well maintained and if you want to they offer an upstairs and downstairs bars where you can get a drink and watch the street entertainers from the balcony and not have to give them any money etc lol
A. B.
Nice to sit outside on the balcony watching the street entertainment. Shame the bottle wine selection is poor and basic, we viewed on their website lots of nice bottles but when we ordered they only had pinot and chardonnay!
C. W.
Was greeted at the door by Tomas who was incredibly helpful and polite. He even helped me get a baby carriage up and down the stairs. Food was great, atmosphere was just what the family and I were looking for on a Thursday night. 5/5 would recommend.
N. B.
Always visit the Punch & Judy at Christmas, just a great pub with good food and good choice of beers all served with a smile in loverly surroundings.
Also set in the centre of Covent Garden.
J. H.
It's ok, very busy place knocking out average food for half decent money for covent garden.
Not sure they are going for returning customers here due to where it is. It was fast though, even when very busy. Find a table before you go to the bar of eating (downstairs only I believe).
J. B.
Great little pub slap bang in the middle of Covent Garden piazza. Upstairs there is a balcony and bar area ideal for drinks 🍸 and people watching. 🙃
S.
Great location right in the heart of Covent Garden. Sat upstairs with some friends with a nice summer evening breeze coming in from the large open windows. Service was friendly and prompt and a nice range of beers to choose from. A little expensive but worth it for location. Will definitely return and hopefully find space to relax on the upstairs outside patio .
J. H. D.
A great pub, nice to sit outside and good environment. Worth a visit.
J.
This place hasn't changed since I was last there 3 years ago! It's not shabby Chic anymore... it's just shabby. Actually I'm sure it hasn't changed since I was there in 2018. Perfect place to watch street entertainment with a beer on the balcony but definitely needs a refurb. Shame they didn't make the most of lockdown to make improvements.
C. S.
This was our first British pub experience for my wife and I. We both ordered London brews and they were quite good! Being a fan of Belgian beers, I honestly didn't have big expectations but I was pleasantly surprised ! The atmosphere is nice too, and being at the center on Covent garden is a big plus! Would recommend.
c. e.
clasic!! lovely pub in covent garden to have a drink. hace a lovely terrace or downstairs is beautiful as well.
F. G.
Tomas is the best bar tender ever. If you want a bar in London come here immediately
B. R.
Good beer! Good food ! Good place !
Definitely worth a visit for a quick drink or a bite to eat 🔥
P. N.
Nice place. It was perhaps a bit too busy when we called this time but if you can get a spot on the terrace there's a great atmosphere
M. G.
I love this hidden gem! It's in the heart of Covent Garden and you wouldn't even know it was there! It's got a fantastic atmosphere, great food and a great selection of drinks. The "building" itself is quirky and has all the usual 18th century nooks and crannies. It's alot bigger than you would think! Highly recommend popping in for a drink to experience another side of Covent Garden!
g. C.
The prices are very reasonable for its prime location. Food is general pub grub, nothing to shout about but nice. Worth a visit.
N. H.
Spent a wonderful evening here, balcony is a great spot to people watch. Drinks are very reasonable for Covent Garden, and the staff are lovely and friendly. Highly reccomend for a stop off while exploring London!
g. h.
Love this pub. Nice international atmosphere. Can always get a decent meal and drink at Covent Garden.
C. E.
Came for a late Sunday drink. Lovely rooftop bar, delicious cider, the staff - especially Thomas - were delightful! Highly recommended!
S. T.
One of the very few pubs that you can take children ..we sat in courtyard down stairs. .very clean ...staff very nice ..London prices for drinks .
A. P.
First time at the punch and judy.
Great atmosphere if you go onto the balcony you get a great view of the
Buskers.
D. B.
Amazing ambience, small but lovely.. great ales on tap and a great little balcony overlooking Covent garden centre
P. R.
Covent Garden is always a great place to spend the time. In this pub always crowded you can find a good selection of beers both draught and bottled. The terrace outside allow you to see the performances of the street artists who entertain the tourists.
The pub needs to be refurbished in my opinion anyway it maintains its charme
C. D.
We had a very pleasant dinner there. Order was a bit slow to come but food was overall very good and of course the place is lovely.
D. S.
Very nice pub grub. To be honest the standard of food was excellent. Great prices too.
L. F.
Exceptional service today from Chris. Came with my partner for a few drinks and he was very friendly, had a good laugh with him. Excellent bartender. We will be back just because of his high level of customer service. GIVE THIS MAN A PAYRISE!!!! He is what will keep customers like me coming back time and time again. Cosmalia's halloween makeup is fantastic pop down and have look you wont be disappointed. Clearly alot of effort went in to it.
J. C.
Awesome balcony seats, if you can get them. They overlook the street performers. Quite pricy, £7 a pint, but worth it for the entertainment in the sun.
R. C.
Used to love this bar but it is very pricey. Also the drinks don't get measured properly (which I'm sure is illegal) and you don't get the rest of your mixer bottle it just gets thrown away 😡
M. A.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and the food's pretty good too.
G.
Busy little 18th Century pub popular with tourists. I recommend the upstairs bar which has a spacious terrace with seating overlooking the piazza - pleasant on a sunny day as you sip on your drink and look down on the street performers and crowds milling below.
Steep stairs. Complimentary WiFi.
Z. W.
Lovely, small traditional pub. Quite busy during the day so seats can be difficult to find. However, they have a large selection of beers, ales and ciders all at reasonable prices. The outdoor seating is very nice during the festive season. Highly recommended
S. P.
Beautiful location, bang in the middle of covent garden. Toilets were a bit of a state though
L. W.
Finally visited in the summer after walking past so many times! Nice atmosphere and we were able to soak in the live music from the terrace.
J. E. (.
Our favourite bar in Covent garden, great choice of beers & cocktails, also good menu for dining.
D. H.
lovely cosy pub with nice balcony where you can sit and relax
M. F.
Tomas, looked after me and my partner all night. Gave us a great table - made the night
J. D.
Great evening on a Monday night. Thomas behind the bar was really friendly
B. H.
Fun pub above and below Covent Garden. Good open air terrace, and nice selection of beers. Can get crowded and hot, but has a good times vib to it.
M. B.
It's a great pub in a fantastic location. Friendly staff. Gets busy.
D. B.
Served by a great member of staff, very helpful gentleman. Great location in covent garden and not crazy prices.
G. W.
Used balcony bar, very nice with friendly staff. The cellar bar has a lot of character. Will visit again
m. m.
Great hamburgers and fries. Too bad they were out of hot chocolate milk. It was either cold outside or the chocolate is really good. With bigger groups it is a bit difficult to get the right amount of table space. The replacement drinks were good so no problem.
H. A.
Absolutely love it here, great service, location and food xxxx
M. L.
Great atmosphere. Classic olde English pub. Fantastic location right in Covent Garden.
Selection of beers is OK. Not extensive at all.
Price for beer very expensive.
Food is OK to good. Again not cheapest but probably in line with London.
L. R.
Great place to sit in and eat. They even got a nice balcony outside to sit at and like a lovely terrace indoors of Covent Garden. Nice staff. Delish meals and drinks.
M.
Service was awesome and food was delicious as well! Enjoyed the warm ambience of both the restaurant and bar areas. The balcony has a wonderful view of the courtyard performance area. Will definitely be visiting again.
D.
We expected a bit of punch and Judy memorabilia at least given the babe of this pub, but there was only one illustration, hanging sideways at our seat. Decent enough points, drank from plastic cups as we choose the upper level. I understand the reasoning IF the balcony is open, but it was closed due to heavy rain.
G. Q.
Basement is a hidden gem. Often hard to get a seat on the first floor, but plenty more seating in the basement area.
J. O.
Good pub and great location....just ignore the mortgage you'll need for the beers...
N. B.
Love this pub x great spot on the balcony to sit an watch the world go by and watch the performances x
s. t.
Had a few drinks on the balcony in the sunshine. Lovely place.
C. H.
Great venue! Good food (I had the fried halloumi) and friendly service. Free wifi and wheelchair accessible. Definitely worth a stop over.
S. C.
Nice place with great food. The staff are friendly and attentive, couldn't do enough for us👍
A. F.
Great atmosphere, buzzing place. Visited again, holds memories for me when my husband and I went in there years ago! ❤
A. D.
Cute pub, lots of cosy places to get together and chat, with open spaces to watch whatever game they’re showing at the time. Good fun. The entrance had a great display of booze kegs linked up like a chemistry lab (see pic). The atmosphere was good as well, very positive vibes.
Y. S.
Delightful old pub with real atmosphere. Good plain food well cooked.
R. a. G. A. D. S.
Meal was OK, a bit on the pricey side for what you get, a meal for 2 cost me £23, back home in Leeds it would have been 2 for £10 for the same portion size.
B. B.
Great pub in the middle of Covent Garden. I love to sit on the balcony and enjoy a nice Gin and Tonic while watching the Street performance. The team is also really nice and friendly.
S. W.
Good pub, the stairs were a bit of a challenge
D. L.
World famous Punch and Judy...haven't been for a while. Same friendly staff and atmosphere. Top floor on balcony looking out watching the entertainment in the square with a drink...what's not to like...
G. M.
My favourite place to grab a beer and lunch while in London
A. R.
A little bit over crowded around Christmas time .However nice to have drink. Not very accessable.
F. O.
Nice experience, lovely place, a bit dark the inside. Sorry to see no social distancing, masks used from the staff but asking customers to wear them. Not even use of measure for make mixers and I saw hands to take the garnish....i had a beer than! Outside atmosphere and food were very well appreciate
I. W.
Great place to have a bite to eat and a quick drink. Reasonably priced for London.
M. S.
Fantastic pub in a prime location over looking Covent Garden. Very efficient staff, multiple area's including outside seating on the balcony. Lively. Will be back
G. B.
Great place very polite doorman bar staff friendly great atmosphere we all enjoyed ourselves will definitely visit again
R. D.
The place to be great entertainment, great vue, just sit have a drink and enjoy the show
N. P.
Great location and ambience, enjoyed the pint "Rockin Rudolph", steak and ale pie was delicious, unfortunately the chicken and bacon sandwich was disappointing.
R.
I went here to have some food.
Cold day but still pretty busy.
Unfortunately they ran out of hot chocolate milk.
As it is a very busy place, you have to go to the bar to order food and drinks, and the drink are made at the spot so you can take them back to your table.
Food however is brought. Plates are warmed, which is very nice. Was brought pretty fast after we ordered.
Good place to take a rest en fill your belly
P. W.
Lovely place. Food absolutely delicious. Massive portions and good value
N. S.
I have visited this place many times and it's my go to place with friends. Located just opposite to St Paul's Church this place has the nice outside area which is their USP. Prices are reasonable if we consider their location. It's mostly crowded over weekends.
M.
My beer was loverly but my friends was flat as anything and had to had it replaced
A. A.
Briefly there for a drink before going for meal. Nice pub, can see how extremely busy it was as only could get seats literally after next person went.
R. V.
Decent food. We got the deluxe fish and chips as well as the vegetarian fish and chips. Yes, vegetarian! Replacing the fish is thick slices of Haloumi cheese that's marinated, battered, and fried. Tasty!
C. F.
The pub itself is average at best, but it’s cheap access to one of the Covent Garden balconies, so still well worth going!
S. W.
Nice pub. If you are lucky enough to get the balcony then you can watch all the performances. Nice atmosphere as well.
a. p.
My wife and her friend was at the Punch & Judy yesterday and was very impressed with the staff and the barman in particular who took great care in making sure their drinks were taken to the table as she couldn't carry them. Thanks
J. O.
Cellar bar is really nice and cosy, great food and drink, friendly staff
B. D.
The BEST place to people watch in Covent Garden. The balcony is fantastic and the pints are in line with pubs more tucked away. Really helpful staff too!
R. C.
Had a couple of lovely pints in the pub and the atmosphere was brilliant
D. J.
Great little pub to watch the world go by with then entertainment from the balcony
L. R.
It’s really good being somewhere where I’m not recognised. Great atmosphere great beer. Highly recommended.
P. W.
Surprised that the starters and mains came together, but quality of food was very good
D. M.
We always visit the P and J when we're in London and we are never disappointed. It's a must visit if you're in the capital
R. P.
Best fish and chips in town!! look for Chris and he will recommend some great drinks to try depending on what you're up for !!
B. M.
Pretty much visit there every time I go to London. Fantastic atmosphere during the summer. Great views from the balcony. Very very busy. But we'll worth a visit.
P. S.
Unfortunately it was raining and so that eliminated the outside entertainment but I've been going to this pub for 30 years. Definitely recommend it on a weekend especially a sunny Sunday and sit up top on the balcony.
A. C.
Enjoyed couple of glasses of wine and the super green salad with grilled haloumi - fab! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Would recommend. Thanks.
S. W.
Great atmosphere good sekection of beers spirits etc👍👍
J. L.
2x pints £14.70p 🤬 daylight robbery and the street
Entertainers walk up through the pub and ask for money............(UNBELIEVABLE).
L. A. B.
Fabulous balcony to look over Covent garden x mas tree whole having a drink 🍸 😀
D. B.
Amazing pub the best in Covent Garden
Friendly and Lovely staff
P. F.
Great service from the bar staff but the pub does a very limited range of Fever Tree mixers!
J. B.
Great little pub to enjoy when visiting London’s Covent Garden. As you would expect can become very busy on a warm day (has a balcony area).
O. T.
very good place. a little difficult to find a table available but I liked it a lot..
R. M.
Excellent place good atmosphere and great area of London🇬🇧
B. M.
Great location, excellent staff and upstairs balcony best place to sit on a hot day to watch the street entertainment. Down stairs outside is great also although the cellar bar area is very hot...be warned
A. E.
A nice atmosphere.plenty of staff to look after you.
C. F.
Had to wait a little while, but it was worth it, table service was great and the door man did a good job of stopping people trying to con their way in front of the queue. One poor lass was having issues getting back up the stairs tho 😂
D. G.
Friendly pub in the heart of the ever lively Coventy Garden, really friendly staff and good beers
m. h.
Always a good atmosphere ,always full to the rafters.
Good busy pub.
a. k.
Reasonably priced for amazing food and very fast as well! Super friendly staff

Perfectly location in Covent Garden. Great atmosphere and very well priced.
W. B.
Fantastic steak and Ale pie, beautiful wine. Excellent
D. J.
Friendly service but food was cold and steak was really tough.
K. D.
Love this pub. My only problem is we lose track of time and end up very merry and out very late !
P. D.
Lovely pub & food quick service great atmosphere 👍
J. L.
Has really friendly and helpful staff! The restaurant and bar areas were very rustic too so it gave off a very welcoming warm vibe.
F. V.
Very friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere and really nice food. Can recomend the philly cheese steak sandwich!

Very nice large pub , serves food, Quirky, lots of different areas to drink or eat, outside area.
J. C.
Great pub with outside balcony seating overlooking the square where the performers are
S. P.
A really great English pub ..good food and good drinks.
T. C.
Nice viewing balcony for street performers! Not bad beer!!!
V. T.
Had a nice Pimms on the upstairs terrace whilst watching a street act perform below. Nice calm atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks for London.
A. W.
Great place to have a drink with a view of Covent Garden below.
J. O.
Always a fun pub to stop in for a drink.
D. T.
Good service, great atmosphere and good choice of drinks.
N. S.
A pub in the midst of Covent garden on a Thursday evening in mid-July with empty tables to spare. The virus' impact on central London is incredible. Soho and the area felt deserted.
We had drinks and dinner for a price that is pretty standard for tourist trap areas like this. Don't get me wrong, Punch & Judy is a nice pub with great staff. We enjoyed our dinner. But you'll pay for it roughly 3x what it would cost outside London.
If you can get a table, it's a good option in the area.
H. W.
An old history pub provides okay food. The service is not good.
m. b.
An amazing pub. Always busy great English pub food..
I. v. B.
Great place for a central drink but very crowded
A. V.
Nice pub, friendly people, drinks a bit expensive, but you re not going there every day.
A. D.
Nice bar, good for watching the street entertainers
d. h.
Nice pub and balcony over looking the street entertainment
G. B.
Good old pub, loads of character, reasonably priced.
G. C.
Only place we could find a seat, roast chicken seemed deep fried
M. B.
Busy Saturday and had to wait a while for seat. Great service!
D. D. L.
Rammed as usual but great staff
S. D.
This pub is amazing right in the centre of Covent garden 👍👍
L. G.
REALLY busy with little regard for covid safety. Nice pint though.
H. S.
We had Saturday lunch here with family. Seating is plenty with seats outside (inside the apple market) and indoors as well. They also have a balcony overlooking the Covent Garden square, however, it’s always ridiculously crowded. Seats are first come first served and you have to search for them on your own. We found a table to seat 5 of us within 10 minutes of being here. You have to place the order at the bar but they do serve you on the table. We had fish and chips, favourites platter and mac and cheese, all of which were good. Beer selection is pretty standard and they were serving mulled wine as well. All in all good stop for food and drinks in the crowded market with a decent chance of getting a table.
C. P.
absolutely brilliant always buzzing and the street performers were fantastic 👏
N. B.
Good pub, great atmosphere very competitive prices, worth a visit.
T. S.
Lovely pub!
Service was prompt, staff amazing. It was long time ago us having a pint ...
Chosen the best pub to be back.
n. b.
Fish & Chips, simple enough you'd think, not here. Food was tasty enough but it looked like it had all been cooked together then thrown on the plate.
i. b.
Still one of our favorite stops when visiting Covent Garden.
G. G.
We had a burger and a pie here.
The fries wrre really well fried but my friend thought his burger wasn't the best. Still alright hut expected a bit more juicy.
My pie was very tasty only crust a hit hard. But with enough gravy that was easily solved.
Very good staff and quick service
M. C.
Amazing food, amazing pub, fantastic service... and cheap 😁
D. C.
Convenient to the theater district, quick, accurate service and fair price.
C. W.
Always a fun place to be. Never eaten here but var service is friendly and great atmosphere
J. K.
Solid pub right in the middle od Covent Garden. Expect it to be packed most times! Thats is part of the charm. Its nice to be on the terrace upstairs, and overall the upstairs is a nice place to be, downstairs reminds me of a dungeon, most people will be ok with that.
A. W.
Sat on the balcony and watched the street artists and the world go by. One of my favourite London pubs revisited and I wasn't disappointed
m. n.
Great pub, lovely view from balcony
p. j.
Very fond of this place, the basement has a very nice atmosphere, the upstairs with its balcony over looking the street performance area is a must on a nice day if you can get a seat. The staff and service has in my experience been very good and the drinks are reasonably priced am yet to try the food I will endeavour to do so
C. F.
Always love this place but the toilets are usually gross.
P. N.
Nice pub, decent pint, stupid prices.
D. W.
It's a Greene King Pub.....so always good ale and great pub food
M. B.
Great food, reasonably priced for London and happy staff
P. W.
A great place to just stop and have a drink, go upstairs as its not as busy and better for a drink if you don't want food
l. e.
Lovely food and quick service
n. w.
Excellent meal, friendly helpful staff. A little overcrowded at times with people literally trying to jump into your seats when you go to order your food so remember to leave someone at your table. But altogether a great find as we were walking around London.
J. B.
Packed full, need to get there early to get s seat or z place on the balcony.
R. W.
A classic. Always busy but Staff work hard to ensure you are served. Outside seating is great overlooking the street performers. If visiting Covent Garden and fancy a drink it's worth the visit.
M. B.
Quick service via the App, food to a good standard. Decent selection available.
D. L.
Good beer and atmosphere, have been here before and always a good craic.
s. k.
You have to visit and go upstairs to watch the court yard of shows
D. V.
Loved this pub and the area around it. Both downstairs and upstairs were rammed and full of energy. Rather hard to get a seat upstairs on the balcony- which overlooked the square in Covent garden- but worth the wait!
The street performers were mainly great, and even the randomers walking about were entertaining to watch. A must visit if you are in or around West London.
E. T.
Such a historical and lovely pub. I had been few times at roof top but I never paid attention to the rest the pub. Such a beautiful and cosy place. Thanks for the free London pub tour. Was such a great sort time
T. N.
Good service and food. Our waiter lovely and helpful.
D. V.
Staff are lovely, great atmosphere, gets very busy
p. s. s. m.
It was my first trip to London, and first time eating fish&chips.
The staff were very professional and friendly, they took while they were about to close the kitchen 💛 food was so delicious, great qualitye and of course a nice portion and not pricey. Thank you so much.
J. S.
Great place to chill and watch the world go by in Covent Garden. Good beer and balcony seats over the performers.
Would get 5 stars if the beer wasn't quite so expensive but worth it for the experience.
N. G.
Great pub, brilliant location.
Only issue is its a bit small!
P. C.
Traditional pub in a fantastic location
G. D.
Fantastic location but the larger tasted like a weird fizzy water leaving a weird taste in my mouth and so did the fruit and berries cider...maybe it was just an off day for them?
R. T.
Pricey but is great atmosphere
B.
For a small pub in Central London, Covent Garden, this place is amazing. The bad bits about this place is that because it is small the area is filled up quite quickly but that doesn't stop anyone enjoying the place for having a nice time out with mates. Because of the area, you can hear the local buskers in the background for a bit of peace and to help ease the feelings. The food and drinks arrive quickly and they are both amazing. For pub food, it is really nice. There is also a wide selection of drinks to chose from (soft, hot, alcoholic). This place is in a nice area, the staff are very friendly and I can guarantee you'll have a good time.
M.
I hadn't been to the Punch & Judy for many years however, I had quite a struggle to get admitted as my substandard mobile telephone would not recognise the scan app.
After much deliberation I was allowed to write down my contact details with my fountain pen.
A smile from the staff would have been nice too!
C. D.
Excellent for a pint following a West end show. 👏
M. L.
Lovely place and the balcony overlooking the square. Lovely bar staff and they have covid covered
I. F.
Quirky little pub. Take the stairs to the top floor and enjoy drinks out on the terrace overlooking the courtyard below where street entertainers are often found. A great spot for some people watching. Drinks are typical for the area. £6 - £7 a pint.
D. J.
Had a lovely pint from good selection. Two sharing platters (chicken and nachos) were much better than expected. Good service from friendly helpful staff. Recommended.
G. G.
The service from the bar staff was really good and so was the atmosphere, but the food did not live up to our expectations. We didn't receive everything we ordered and when I asked the waiter he said it did not come with it. I showed him the menu and he agreed he was wrong and went to fetch us the other items.
For drinks it's great but if your hungry go somewhere else. Very dry and over priced
G. W.
Feels touristic with little amount of atmosphere, however, it is central London so one should expect this.
The food is really nice with a home cooked feel and the staff friendly and knowledgeable, not too bad at all.
M. S.
The staff area probably the most helpful I have ever come across. With its view of the street acts Upholding their Old traditions. Having a drink with free entertainment on a sunny afternoon what more could you ask for. plus good ale.
Sat in this place reading rivers of London suited the place quite well.
d. s.
Great place drink n food lovely
S. C.
Absolutely beautiful pub in an amazing location but with really disappointing food and some slightly gormless staff. The managers/supervisors were lovely, but the staff that came to the tables didn't seem to have any idea what was going on or how to engage with customers. I was aware before we went in that the food isn't great as I've been before, but the pub is so gorgeous and looks so fab done up for Christmas that we decided to take a loss on the food quality front because of the surroundings
C. F.
It's a must to visit if your in Covent Garden.
V. A.
Sit up top and watch life pass below. Return every time I am back in town. Life is beautiful
J. R.
Nice location, not great service and of course prices incredibly high due to that location.
P. F.
Great location, particularly the balcony that overlooks the square in covent garden.
Good in the summer for watching the street entertainers and good in the winter for overlooking the giant Christmas tree.
As a result it is expensive and attracts all sorts (not always in a good way).
Worth stopping at for a drink and a view, but not much more.
A. E.
Cool little pub in the heart of Covent Garden Market. Standard selection of beers and food and not expensive at all. Some funky music playing in the background too.
Overall nice place for a drink and food.
S. B.
Love it here but really busy
K. G.
Nice and relaxed, good food and atmosphere.
C. G.
This is a cool location in Covent Garden. They have a rooftop bar where you can watch the street performers during the day. There’s plenty of dining space downstairs if you’re looking for some food. The fish and chips here are pretty good if you’re looking for something to eat.
a. b.
Well known covent garden pub. Love it
I. M.
Plastic glasses.....sigh. Busy pub, highest prices I've ever paid for a beer. One barmaid but very busy, seems to be run on a shoestring for highest possible profit. Nice views of Covent Garden though.
C. A.
Nice place to go on sunny weekends to grab a beer
E. P.
Always lovely to return to Punch & Judy, great food, and awesome team
G. S.
Lovely food, great service, lovely & clean
A. W.
Nice food, fast service
J. D.
Love this pub. A central London must.
R. C.
Can get very busy but place to be
A. L.
Great pub, nice staff, fast service
R. T.
Lovely place to sit on the balcony and watch the world fo by
J. D.
Excellent staff, do polite and helpful, really good food too
S. R.
Great food and atmosphere too!
D. H.
A wonderful experience standing out on balcony
S. C.
Great pub! Fab location! Always busy!
A. P.
Lovely, hidden gem, large pub in Central London. Covered outdoor "garden" area, kind of protected from cold weather. "Basement" area with low ceilings, upstairs, and balcony. Great buzz
A. E.
Located as busy by tourists as it gets in Covent Garden, a place still serves a very decent food. Big Ben burger is my favourite and not only because of its cheesy tittle. It does taste good and there is plenty of it.
C. K.
Great place to sit and watch street art
J. B.
Very busy and crowded bar in Covent Garden. We ordered G&Ts and some spicy biltong. The G&Ts are nothing special, decent gin and you add your own tonic. The biltong was pretty decent as well. Very difficult to find a seat.
D. B.
Good service and nice drinks but very SMELLY in the upstairs bar area!
M. M. F.
Bit disappointed that there was no actual Punch and Judy memorabilia anywhere but quick service and nice shelter from the rain.
G. P.
I have been coming here for 35+ years, it's always packed especially upstairs on the balcony where you can overlook the square and watch the street performers. It's a must place for a pint if your a tourist visiting London.
L. A.
Lively great music and great pit stop for a pint x
B. C.
Excellent atmosphere and lots of space
P. Y.
Great food, 8 of us and all cooked to perfection..
s. p.
Very good all round Pub indeed. It is a very attractive looking place.Cold Guiness spot on and fine food.Nice Bar Staff too.Either the Outside Seating area or the Balcony are lovely places to kick back and relax with a drink due to it,s splendid location. The Balcony being the best place,I think, to watch some very talented Street Entertainers perform. And if they have indeed entertained you, don't forget to drop some coin to them on your way out now will you!
E. S.
Great location right in the middle of Covent Garden and has a nice terrace overlooking the Covent Garden street and during the weekends may also watch the street performers. They have ample menu options and good selection of drinks. And during the evenings can be a good romantic setting. The staff are prompt and friendly as well.
D. K.
Good lunch and a well kept pint. Friendly staff, on the whole. One or two non UK European staff may need to be retrained in the English habit of smiling at customers.
A. M.
The Punch & Judy is a two floor pub that undoubtedly got its name from the excellent viewing balcony that overlooks Covent Garden square which boasts many a Punch & Judy show in the summer. Actually, it’s a good spot to watch the various magicians, comedians, and other buskers vying for the kindness of tourists to make their living.
Something to note: the top floor is 18+ and strictly enforced by the bar staff (yes they will ID you if in doubt) but on the plus side no crying children to worry about. The younger folk are welcome in the ground floor though which is set up more like a traditional pub/restaurant.
For hanging out in sun, the balcony can’t be beat as it is in full sunshine for most of the day. The drinks on offer are pretty standard with your usual set of draft beers and bottled ciders. I would highlight that they have Crabbies as well as a couple Meantime options which does put it a notch above your typical pub.
As far as I could tell, there was no food on offer on the top floor but when you have the whole market to choose from, I’m sure you can find a place to eat beforehand.
All in all, an excellent choice for whiling away some time in the sun and they have a few large screen TVs if you want to catch the game or the latest horse race.
M. B.
We visited The Punch & Judy the night before my sons 7th birthday while waiting for a table reservation. The atmosphere was really relaxed & we all enjoyed it. It is in the middle of covent garden & there is always something going on in the courtyard to watch! The staff were friendly & the drinks varied & well priced. Children were welcome & well catered for.
p. r.
Nice busy place in lovely surroundings, had the Wagyu burger and my partner and daughter had a toasted ham & cheese all of which was very tasty. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful, I would recommend to anyone looking for a bite.
N. M.
Looked at their cocktail menu and asked for an espresso martini. The barman looked horrified at me. He said he would have to make it as it was not available any other way which made no sense to me. He made one anyway and said if i didnt like it i wouldnt have to pay. Needless to say i didnt like it because he did not know how to make it. That was do disappointing because i was on holidays and dying for one. Food was lovely. Staff acted and looked really grumpy.
P. H.
Great evening
J. B.
I always love this place and keep going back. It has a great atmosphere and is in a good location, specially on the balcony. BUT it is aways busy making getting served hard; this is made worse by the fact that the dining area seems to always be closed nowadays (every time i have been in the last sox months). At least the gent's loos have been refurbed.
D. B.
Great pub ,busier today Great staff .thanks lovely
S. W.
Went here for a quick pint whilst on a historical pub tour. It was fairly crowded, as it was a Friday evening, but the bartenders were friendly and fast. Cool place.
L. C.
Food was really good. Very small menu ( we understand why at this current time) but no dessert menu available was dissapointing.
M. S.
Pleasant location, service variable but generally OK, fair amount of seating downstairs. Good place for a couple of pints to meet up in central London.
T. V.
Great place and great view of street acts such an amazing day
M. P.
Absolutely loved my visit. Food was to a very high standard and the staff were very accommodating. Lovely after our shopping trip to Covent garden
A. T.
Amazing watching the entertainment good drinks but expensive
E.
Nice city pub with a country interior, good selection of drinks and the food seems popular however, its not cool to be charged two different prices for a pint of Guinness, there are local and tourist prices in this establishment. Be aware.
J. M.
Great friendly pub..
M. S.
Great spot, even in the rain. Staff friendly and professional. Good covid safety management
G.
Good food but can't fit too many people in there so gets a bit squashed. Also one of the staff told us to move out the way in a rather not polite manner
W. L.
Visited this pub for a second time this week, as we enjoyed the food on our first visit in December last year. This time we sat 'outside'. We will visit again - good service and food.
J. M.
Nice location, great view of the street performers in Covent Garden. Standard London prices - more or less £5 a pint. Can get really crowded though and the whole place is pretty narrow; sitting inside, standing at the bar, hanging around on the balcony. Gets pretty crowded.
I. B.
Great atmosphere, staff and food
F. T.
Excellent location in Covent Garden. Nice balcony overlooking the street performers but can get very crowded. Had ham, egg and chips, very nice. Boyfriend had curry, also good. Would go back.
S. L.
Cosy pub with lots of character
S. F.
If you can get a seat on the terrace and the sun is shining then you would struggle to find a better seat in Covent Garden. Perched above the Covent Garden Piazza, this pub offers traditional ales and beers and a decent selection of wine. I prefer to have my pint in a glass though - something about a flimsy plastic pint glass feels like you are at a festival.
E. H.
Nice drink lovely staff
J. C.
I felt this pub takes complete opportunity of its location and therefore feels like they have no obligation to their customers. We had arrived at this pub for 10pm, and ordered our second drink at approx 11, about 5mins later the bouncers started moving us down the bar and then told us to go, but i said i had my drink to finish and i'll stand somewhere else and the bar girl then went to grab my drink off me and she had taken 2 pints off my friends. I think she is completely unreasonable and we had no warning of 'last orders'. Shame, wont be paying this pub a visit again.
D. M.
Cracking pub. Can't see how you wouldn't like it. Cracking view on balcony over covent garden.
C. H.
Got seated straight away, waitress took drink order whilst we decided on food. Food came out after less than 10 minutes probably and very tasty. Would recommend.
D. B.
OK pub in a touristic area
C. J.
First time here (Monday afternoon) and really enjoyed the experience, good pint (punk ipa) and tasty food, had the pulled pork nachos and chicken platter to share, will definitely be back.
N. T.
Not cheap, but a great place to visit. Balcony overlooks small square which is a favourite place to watch the buskers and street entertainment. We had trouble finding it at first as we were looking for a bigger entrance. Look out for the sign fixed to the wall! 😁
M. W. u.
Great vibes overlooking the main square at covent garden
J. G.
Not tried the balcony yet, but the downstairs area is nice, and sheltered from the rain! Service is great using the App, really fast 👌🏼
T. S.
Had lunch, walked in and straight away had a classic pub feeling. It's a bit dark which may put people off, but the food was great for a pub lunch and service was excellent
S. M.
Great pub. Good beer. Very central.
G. S.
Lovely food, great service, lovely & clean
S. L.
Absolute amazing pub 👌
D. H.
The Punch & Judy is a nice tourist London pub. It has a great balcony offering a fine view of the Covent Garden street performers down below (who do come up after for donations so get those pennies out!!) I have fond memories standing out here on a summer afternoon watching the world go by. Well worth a visit.
R. C.
Can get very busy but place to be
K. P.
Excellent quick service, food tasted amazing and fresh. Highly recommended
d. V.
As a London pub in covent garden, it OK
A. L.
Great pub, nice staff, fast service
J. R.
Great place to chill, have a beer and maybe catch a quick act.
H. H.
Just your standard pub really, not overly pretty, not too shabby. Very popular on a Friday evening. Some great 90s classic tunes.
C. D.
Great staff, well-priced beer and amazing spot for watching street entertainment, unfortunately my enjoyment was somewhat lessened due to the presence of a large group of boisterous, loud men who dominated proceedings with their ‘horse-play’.
J.
Nice old pub lots of history staff are very good, rather pricey had pint of peroni and cup of tea one tea bag 9 pound &20 pence.
J. O.
I think the three and a half star rating is wrong, I had a very good meal, a good pint of real ale, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the service was prompt, and considering it was a busy Thursday lunchtime it was all very relaxed
W. C. (.
They sell Aspalls on tap, always a bonus if you want a decent pint of cider that's also vegan.
A. S.
Always have to have drink in this favourite London pub.
G. M.
Staff are really nice and friendly, I was there to have drinks and food and got one of the best customer services ever from a staff called Alba if I got the name right. Top notch !! Love the place will be back again.
k. r.
Great place to sit on the balcony watching the street entertainers
A. m. x.
Enjoyable evening ideal location
M. T.
Good selection of beers
I. I.
Typical pub. Some nice beers. Bit pokey downstairs.
Food was okay, pub grub, no complaints.
Good service.
Staff pleasant.
J. L.
Lovely pub - has some great quirks to it.
A little bit overpriced and can be noisy sometimes but great place to stand and watch the performances down in the square!
M. T.
Right at the centre of Covent Garden, Punch & Judy is in an absolutely prime location - I’m particularly fond of the balcony area, where you overlook the hustle and bustle below.
D. W.
Great place to stop for early lunch before a matinee show
P. C.
Excellent friendly staff, hells lager was perfect
J. H.
This used to be a terrible pub. But now it's quite decent
J. D.
Love this pub. A central London must.
S. A.
Fantastic place to go for food and drinks. Great place to meet any out of towners and give them the best view over covent garden. The staff are really friendly and know how to mix a good cocktail!!!!!
R. E.
A great place to meet up with your friends.
A. M.
Was OK.
6.95 for a pint is a bit steep though!
S. R.
Great vibes. Nice atmosphere with a good sort of tap beers. They serve food as well!
A. B.
Always enjoy this pub when I visit London.. busy yes but popular places are. Relaxed atmosphere and cheap drinks for London
E. K.
Very well located, good beer, but they serve in plastic cups, which I personally don't like. The food downstairs is very good.
A. B.
First time in there in years. Lovely atmosphere in the basement bar, and a great view upstairs from the balcony
M. B.
Literally brilliant. Great service, superb atmosphere and good drinks. Nice place to stop and get merry, very!
M. L.
Fun pub with loads of levels and a great view to convent garden.
Can get a bit packed sometimes and hard to find seats however.
K. L.
Nice lunch time burger chips few pints toilette clean and ok service can get hot drinks to.little price y for us black country boys but convert gardens so culture
l. j.
While it was busy, service was prompt. Bartender recommend an excellent scotch. Very enjoyable atmosphere as well.
L. B.
Great atmosphere with a great view can be busy up there but well worth a try not to mention all they attractions and live street performance great food and accomadate children up to a certain time
C. p.
Nice pub, always busy.. always get served quickly.. worth a visit if your near.
A. H.
Nice pub to watch all the acts from the terrace
R. T.
Lovely place to sit on the balcony and watch the world fo by
S. J.
Always a pleasure!
M. T.
Not bad, just a pub in a good location.
C. H.
Lovely pub. Food was great and came out really quickly. Service was quick, and was reasonably priced for central London.
O.
Nice pub but be warned it gets absolutely packed. If you visit here go straight downstairs to the basement bar where you will find it much easier to get served.
C. S. L.
Went there few times, usually went to the roof to have a beer. Had dinner at the basement today, order the soup, platter, and wings. Tastes pretty good!
A. L. P.
Nice place and beer. Food was good
E. P.
Always lovely to return to Punch & Judy, great food, and awesome team
H. N.
Awesome place to chill out on the balcony and watch the buskers below. They've also got a good beer selection.
C. A.
Nice place to go on sunny weekends to grab a beer
M. T.
Good vibes and atmosphere with a cracking location and cool balcony, but very expensive £13.60 for 2 pints
A. W.
Nice food, fast service
Z. W.
Tasty roast. Very good prices. Will return. Nice a cosy pub feel inside with fancy outside dining too
D. G.
Service was a little slow but the drinks were reasonably priced and the balcony view over Covent Garden is brilliant, had the fortune of watching various street performers whilst relaxing with a beer
S. K.
A great place to visit, staff are very friendly. Though can get very crowded some days. Its well worth the visit, a great part of London.
