Reviews of Salt Quay Rotherhithe
N. M.
Love this place, been coming here for years, even when it was formerly Spice Island when I was a child
Great food, great atmosphere and the views are lovely in the Summer if you can get an outside table!
Tip: ALWAYS pre book this place is constantly busy!
D. B.
Friday lunch time not to busy, just right for a family get together. Great food at good prices .
Well worth a visit. Enjoy.
E.
Cool especially in summer. I have been here a few different times at different times of the day and months of the year. Nice and great location on the riverside with relaxing views of the city.
I had good food here for pubs’ standards.
One of the places I am always happy to go back to even though it can be easily rammed and quite intense at times.
I do recommend it.
R. S.
Nice beer garden with river views. Stuff is very friendly and helpful. Food was very good. Burger was coming in tin foil what was not to my personal taste... but was surprisingly good! Pints are relatively cheap (for London).
A. G.
Nice place positioned in a beautiful corner, specially if you eat at the tables on the river. The food was very enjoyable. I loved the pulled pork nachos but also the mix meat platter was very good. Great place to eat and drink on a sunny day. The only problem (but I imagine because of the ordering app system) was the waiting. We waited over half hour for the drinks and over 40 for the food and wasn’t that busy either. But good experience after all.
R. Z.
This pub should have 5 stars, because the new menu is fantastic. The burger and the "bag of fries" were excellent, the ale/cider/beer choice is great, and the location and interior of the pub is gorgeous.
Dog Friendly, table booking system easy, staff very friendly and helpful.
M. W.
It's been a great place to sit down to have a meal and drink.
Every visit has been great (tend to visit in the not so busy hours though).
During summer its nice to sit outside and facing the Thames.
A. K.
Christmas lunch with the family was fab! Service excellent and food delicious. Thank you so much !!!
M. B.
Lovely Riverside pub. The hunters chicken was nice albeit the sauce was a tad too sweet. Drinks at above average prices!
L. V.
I enjoyed a vegetarian burger here, but quite a few dishes were unavailable for others in my group 'due to supplier issues'.I think we were lucky it was a quiet day, so not slow service, which was good.
O. S.
Staff and service is a disaster! They don't check orders if you place it through app, had to go inside and chase the destiny of my drink orders. Barmen started doing them in front of me when I asked after nearly 25 minutes and it was just two half pints. Food was very good though! Great views and plenty of outdoor seating. Hopefully, next time we will get much better service.
A. L.
Lovely big pub right on the Thames with ample outdoor seating and unbelievable views! Great service, nice and clean toilets and a huge menu selection. Not a massive choice of beer but gin on the other hand...
L. P.
Good food, very spacious, nice view of the Thames, definitely one of the best, if not the best, pubs in Rotherhithe for summer days. Unfortunately it's not a great value, too expensive for the area, even if you consider it's by the Thames, but still one of the best.
T. G.
Amazing pub, we did our child Christianing event and everything went smoothly. Food was delicious (Kudos to Marious and his team). Bar staff was helpful and kind and GM was has been supporting on all the details pre event day as well as during it. 💯 Recommend
K. A.
Change of name since I was last here and that was quite a while back! But still just as good. Not cheap by any means but the location is fantastic.
Be back soon for food as the menu looks great
V. F.
Great location on the river. Delicious food but slow service. Lots of families (with dogs!) on a Sunday. Easy place to sit and watch the boats go by. Beautiful sunny Sunday!
J. B. (.
Great Pub, lots of places to sit or eat. Not to mention the building itself is a unique one with a second dinning area, balcony, outdoor shelter and garden looking at the Thames with London city as it’s backdrop. Defo worth a pint or two!
C. H.
Amazing few, great pub I f#&£)!* Love it in and outside, sad that's upstairs been closed. super friendly staff, very helpful and kind. Food was good too, we loved it - I will go again definitely and my parents too. We took a few million pictures , that's a pub with character, style.
B. G.
Had run out of all roasts by 5pm on a Sunday which was baffling. However, my fish and chips was very enjoyable, overlooking the fact that it was not the hunk of meat and roast tatties dripping in gravy that my friend and I had originally sought after. My friend had to get extra gravy for her pie and mash in a bid to drown her sorrows.
S.
Nice location with free parking and a river view. You can see the river boats going back and forth which is quite an interesting back drop. The food menu is quite varied with many veggie and vegan options.
I can imagine this place to be very busy at times so maybe try and book ahead if you can. We got seated without a booking on a late Sunday afternoon but the food options were limited by that time. We had a couple rounds of drinks; the service was ok. You can order via an app or at the bar.
I would come again on a hotter day to try and sit outside.
M. L.
Loved it. Nice cold Amstel and plate of 'loaded'home made nachos. Will definitely be going back for these
M. D.
The atmosphere and the food was amazing had a really really enjoyable afternoon, customer service was excellent.
M. K.
The old pub in south east London. Lot of parking, clean washroom, and friendly staff. It is bank of River thanes and good view of London city. All kind of craft beer, wine and drinks. Accept both cash and credit cards. Food is tasty and fresh. Outside sitting is there to enjoy river Thames. Little costly as compare to other pubs in area.
C. M.
My favourite Pub in London. Everything about it is beautiful. Great cocktails, beer on tap and awesome food. Caleb at the bar is superman!! Such an awesome guy and great staff!!!
J. V.
This is probably one of my favourite pubs in London. Very spacious, great view of the river and amazing food. The tacos are extremely delicious and very fresh every time. We’ve hosted birthday gatherings here and it has always been memorable. Nice little gem in London for locals and for tourists. Also the service is really good and happy always. Happy to keep going here and recommending this place to others.
D. M. Q.
Been here years ago and it just gets better and better with time. Came here as just moved to the area and wanted to show a friend how beautiful it is. This pub is stunning. Great river views, good was hearty and varied menu. The beams and decor make it very warm and welcoming. Staff are lovely. Could do with an extra couple of staff as the customers were looking annoyed to wait over 1 minute haha.. but overall 5*
A. S.
A favourite among locals and visitors alike for the location, food, service and atmosphere. With stunning views across the river Thames, it's the perfect place for a drink in the summer or some hearty food in the winter. Having visited here several times for private events and for Sunday lunch I can say it's a great place. It is also family and pet friendly.
B. T.
Really amazing location but very disappointing service and attitude by staff. We were seated at one of the outdoor tables with no umbrella on one of the hottest days in London, although we had a reservation. We then asked if we can get an umbrella or move to one of the tables in the shade. We were refused with the argument that all the other tables were booked. We spent 2 hours at the table and more than half of those tables (10+ tables) remained empty. No-one from the staff seems to be bothered and offered a solution. Clearly staff show no responsibility and ownership to deliver a good service. Most stuff on the menu was sold out and food was below average. Burger & chips were served in bags as if it’s a take-away shop in the corner of your street. Seems like they just rely on their unbeatable location and have no interest in providing a good service.

Love this place. Great atmosphere with beautiful river views. Tasty wing platters!
Came here a couple times for friends birthdays and staff are so friendly and accommodating. Nice undercover area for outdoor dining. Highly recommend it.
A. T.
Great beers. Alessandro is a great great host. Showed us the pub, the views, we tried many beers. Lovely experience.
G. A.
Excellent venue and good burgers although a bit pricey.......it is Rotherhithe after all
M. K.
Warm both inside and outside, it has places to sit and it has a great view Thames.
C. F.
Spacious new old riverside with a good range of beer and friendly staff
E. H.
Lovely place, lovely staff, great service 👍
K. F.
Great atmosphere and a great setting but unfortunately the food was a miss for me. I got the scampi and chips and they just weren’t nice at all.
I. W.
I have lived nearby for a few years and cannot believe that it took me this long to find this place after going for a walk. What a beautiful looking place and such friendly staff. It's a very big and beautiful building, definitely the best pub I have ever seen.
And food is great!
F. O.
Very nice views of the city over the thames. Seats available upstairs on a deck. There are pub quizzes and other evening events. They have a policy of no under 18s after 9pm so make sure you get there early if you want to bring your children for a meal. Can sometimes be chaotic and badly organised.
S. I.
Love this place. Great atmosphere with beautiful river views. Tasty wing platters!
Came here a couple times for friends birthdays and staff are so friendly and accommodating. Nice undercover area for outdoor dining. Highly recommend it.
I. C.
Popped in for a quick meal. Friendly service. Good burgers and dirty fries.
R. B.
Nicer-end pub food in a spacious setting. Outdoor terrace is nice.
Next visit: smokers in the no smoking area, so getting past them to the outside means smoke in your mask (if anyone is even wearing one - staff certainly aren't). Roast is decent, with a choice of lamb beef, or chicken, and the beer is, we'll, beer.
So, food good. Ambience: not for the COVID careful.
P. P.
The pub has a great view of the Thames.
It was very busy when I visited. All tables fully booked. A long wait for most orders. I think they were trying their best to meet customers’ demands and orders but seemed to be struggling due to being understaffed compared to the number of orders coming in. I had to cancel one of the food orders in the end but received a refund with a deduction from the final bill, which was considerate of the management.
It probably would be a much more pleasant experience if the resourcing issue is dealt with, at some point in the future.
R.
Tara was very helpful in finding us a seat indoors despite us not booking in advance, and was very friendly towards us, thank you Tara!
G. C.
It is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon/evening. In front of the river you can truly enjoy a beer on a hot day. Drink fast or order halve pints, they warm up quickly. Food is not great but acceptable. Is not a cheap Pub either but the view is worth it.
T. R.
Spacious pub with indoor and outdoor sitting and lovely riverside view. We only had drinks, the selection was pretty basic - nothing exciting, but all the essentials. The first round arrived very quickly and the staff was friendly and helpful, but I had to go looking for our second order, which got lost and took ages to prepare.
H. R.
Very nice, very large pub with a big beer garden and views of the Thames
D. P.
Lovely vibe and location. Good beer selection. Burger was average tho
A.
Have been to the Salt Quay multiple times now - bottom line is that it’s an excellent location overlooking the Thames, but is let down by its unaccommodating staff/management.
Other pubs in the area (such as the Mayflower) go above and beyond for customer service and visiting both pubs in the same night really highlights the difference in standards.
The positives:
• cracking location on the river, especially in summer with a nice sunset over the river.
Now the drawbacks:
• staff seem to have a real chip on their shoulder, the service is poor (borderline rude) and they don’t welcome customers with a smile/friendly face;
• they seem to resent most customers and have an attitude problem unfortunately - the tone is completely off for what should be good customer service;
• the kitchen never seems to be open and serving food when I’ve visited, which is usually at reasonable times to expect food like 7pm;
• the app doesn’t accept Amex;
• slow service.
M. K.
Warm both inside and outside, it has places to sit and it has a great view Thames.
B. J.
Fantastic setting on the river but our food took TWO HOURS to arrive, and some in our group were told they had ran out of their meals! The food was excellent when it arrived, so I hope this was a covid- related blip, as it was a pretty chaotic afternoon.
B. W.
It was great to be back at the Salt Quay after an extended absence, and you could not wish for a better spot whilst outdoor drinks are mandated - with a fantastic and warm outdoor area boasting unbeatable views. A fantastically suited venue to 'new normal' drinks.
Clearly there is an issue with the larger than normal custom on weekday evenings. Going forwards TSQ would benefit from prioritising drink delivery (that is the primary reason for being at the pub for many!) and perhaps bringing in backup for staff, or serving a more limited menu until bar service is able to be restarted.
Currently, the details on the Greene King website re: opening hours/food times are out of date, and so it would be good if these were to be updated or if posters could be put up to inform customers. Monday close is currently 10pm which is no longer required by the Government (perhaps the council?) - again, it would be good if this could be updated on the website/notices posted around the venue - it helps in planning the night.
I look forward to coming back for many more enjoyable nights in the future and it was great to be back. A special thank you to staff and management who were clearly under extreme pressure but coping with good humour and professionalism throughout. I couldn't have done it myself.
P. N.
Great bar on the riverside, bar downstairs and upstairs, go out to the lovely view of the river Thames, car park facility. I remember it as he Spice Island!
F. C.
First pub experience after lockdown and I have quite mixed feelings about it. We were sat on a shadowy table next to some very noisy ventilators, behind the restaurant, while other tables in the sun remained unoccupied for the duration of our stay. While our food came somewhat in an acceptable time, the people next to us, who came earlier than us, 2 out of 4 had to wait much longer than us to receive their food, which didn't fill me with trust in their service. We wanted to stay in the sun, so we climbed the concrete separators that allowed for some sun exposure. We were told to go to our seats even though there were parents walking their babies on the separator and we weren't near anyone near to disturb with our presence.
The ordering app is great and the food was somewhat decent. However, we were very cold and the service matched the temperature.
k. b.
Love old salt Quay, formerly spice island, lovely beside the Thames
A. C.
very nice staff and a nice atmosphere overall.
Haven't tried the food just yet but I ll definitely return.
a. s.
Location - if you can get a seat outside nice views.
Wings - some excellent chicken wings.
Some of the other food is pricey for the portion size
Beer is a bit pricey but I think it's similar to the other thameside pubs.
C. W.
Naturally busy as people just starting to go out again. Orders have to be placed through the website. They are limiting customers to an hour and a half but they are flexible if they are having delays which we were warned about. They had sold out of some meals, which was a shame. Not far from London Bridge so bit more expensive.
A. P.
I am really surprised by the bad reviews. First time here and we have had an amazing experience! They are super prepared with COVID measures - order on the app and your drinks and food get brought to your table. Great drinks - Beavertown on tap. Good burgers - we had the smokey jack burger. Friendly service, great playlist and awesome views of the sun setting over the Thames. Couldn’t ask for anything else!
s. w.
Amazing venue great staff and an excellent manager Kali recommended the boa buns which were sublime. Defo a Must try.
G. A.
Excellent venue and good burgers although a bit pricey.......it is Rotherhithe after all
S. D.
A shout out too both Carlos & Rosie for accommodating our table move and food timing issues. It's super appreciated and I understand its hard to please everyone. You pleased us today so thank you. That's why we always come back here.
G. G.
Nice little pub. Current restrictions take away some of the character. Great views outside in nice weather. Table service with the app works fine. Pricing is above average for location/service offered, beers should be ~50p pint cheaper if not more.
M. S.
No one informed us how to order on arrival. Then was told to use app. Then the app was down and we weren't informed of that either. Nice pub otherwise, staff just need to communicate with customers better
S. S.
The lovely cosy outside area and welcoming inside, the cask cider I had was amazing if you're a fan of gin they have an amazing selection only problem is securing the best spot outside!! Great venue
N. P.
Your local pub with a view. It's a big venue with a sunset open Thames view on the City. Food is good and staff friendly. Highly recommended !
S. W.
This an edited review. My initial review was understandably critical as there was no food when we arrived. Since this date I have returned and the experience was better. The food arrived in reasonable time. I have been going to the Salt Quay / Old Salt Quay / Spice Island since it opened. It’s a cracking place and a great location. It is clear from talking to staff there that they are passionate about getting it right there. It’s clear there are still slight issues when it gets busy, insufficient food available or just dealing with sheer numbers of people but the majority of the time is a lovely place to go. Would still heartily recommend the Salt Quay. The fact that the owner asked me to contact him shows that they are open to criticism and improving which is always a good sign.
Steve, Rotherhithe

Incredible location and one of the top places to go on a sunny day, but don't expect to get your drinks or food quickly. Staff are friendly but they are very short staffed
R. P.
Food was very good but, unfortunately, the service was appalling. Over two hours for a main course and a coffee!
S. W.
Much much better since Covid changes. A much more professional experience. A lovely inside, especially with the Xmas decorations up. Keep the standards up !
R. C.
Met family here yesterday, their opinion food was better, this slider burger probably says it all. Took my little boy to the toilet and he said "it smells" could be better
J. R.
Great pub. Great wings
F. T.
Very nice pub and amazing view on the river. Also great selection of beers and kind staff!
M. D.
It was wonderful, really enjoyed the atmosphere setting by the river beautiful. The food was great also. If you want an afternoon out with friends, try the salt quay,.
T. C.
Beautiful pub and good service, but they look to be a bit overwhelmed even though the pub was a like a sixth of their capacity.
D. !.
Fabulous place. Great food, friendly and very welcoming staff, huge amount of space, very clean. Perfect for any sort of events. Definitely gonna come back.
C. F.
Spacious new old riverside with a good range of beer and friendly staff
A. C.
Wonderful Riverside gastropub with plenty of good beers (Gamma Ray, Camden), a wide choice of food, and just a brilliant venue and location. Ideal on a warm evening sitting out on either the upstairs balcony or wide reaching patio for great views of the Thames, Tower bridge and the city of London. A must visit!
D. O.
Pleasant pub but most of the draft beers were of the menu.
D. M.
Good pub on the river. Has outside space so great for the summer. It's chain pub but different enough to feel as though it isn't.
A. A.
Had a banging Sunday Roast!
It’s my first time doing food at the Salt Quay, usually I just get drinks, but this Sunday Roast was one of the best I’ve ever had inside a pub.
Huge portions, with the best cauliflower cheese.
Wish I had booked though, I wanted a table outside with the nice weather, but all the tables were full.
I’ll make sure to book next time, and I can’t wait for it!
T. P.
Great local water hole. Lovely food at decent prices! Amazing views and location!
L. N.
Got a chance to visit them on a beautiful winter afternoon for a roast. Really impressed with the place and great food. The ales that they have are really good too.
The staff were super friendly and I loved both the roast I had and the sticky toffee pudding.
Highly recommended trying and might be coming back on Christmas Day for lunch.
K. L.
Good food, reasonably priced drinks and a great view of the Thames. A gem in the neighbourhood!
S. A.
we came to the old salt quay and their new chef is amazing the chef come down to meet us as we were very pleased with the food we had the roast dinner which was 10/10 we will definitely be coming more often -mehmet
G. G.

A. B.
Great place, one of the best spots in London on a sunny afternoon. Had mixed experiences with food waiting times, but the quality is pretty good.
K. K.
Decent food, good seating with a nice Thames view
R.
great on a sunny day. family friendly. lotsa space + parking. But ordering via app took much longer than at the bar (thus 4* instead of 5*).
S. C.
Good food but 3/4 menu unavailable. Lovely views.
L. A.
Go to this pub regularly. Very friendly and helpful staff.Lively views of the river
M. A.
Location is amazing, but don’t order the hamburger. Two different times, food came out raw. Such a shame, the service is well, but the food “no mas no!”
M. A.
As a coach driver I get all over the UK and Europe and always like to find a nice relaxing bar/restaurant to relax at the end of a busy day, we were staying at the YHA opposite and didn't finish till 9.15pm but thankfully food is served here till 10.
We ordered a couple of beers which were good and at the prices I would expect to pay in London, the staff were friendly and helpful and our food arrived 20 minutes later.
I had the Gammon which was beautifully cooked, the thrice cooked chips were perfect too and I really enjoyed the meal.
Some great background music too made this place a big hit and next time I'm nearby I will definitely be calling here!
A. V.
Location is amazing!!! Food good and nice selection on drinks!!
R. D.
I have been to this pub quite a few times. The food is certainly good but as far as I am concerned what makes it special is is location right on the river with huge views. It is also has three floors, is quite spacious and you can sit outside
Also has historic significance being at the entrance to the old Surrey canal
C. B.
Just your regular Greene King pub. So you'll have your regular chain pub food and you usual selection of drinks. Location is fantastic though.
D. F.
Just been in for a last minute stop for lunch. What an amazing place to eat with a great selection and of the highest standards too.
Would highly recommend this place and we will be visiting again very soon.
A great place to eat is hard to find but now we have found this it will become a regular visit.
s. f.
Excellent, really friendly staff, quick service and really nice vegan burger! They were well organised during these times and made it a lovely lunch and afternoon out!
T. R.
Friendly staff. Lovely setting by the canal and river. Spacious outdoors. Food was good value.
H.
Always enjoy This place. Locals and visitors alike, dressed and presented to complement its fantastic dining and drinking space(s). Everyine relaxed and open to conversation and new connections. Excellent view of the river. Adequate selection of food and drink options. Accommodating staff. Very pleasing experience, each and every time!
B. B.
Reasonsably priced, good food. Lovely outdoor seating for a sunny day. Ordered the lamb burger from the specials which was delicious. Only downside was that the drinks were served in disposable plastic cups as there weren't enough staff to clear up
D. V.
The pandemic must've hit them pretty hard. Waited 40 min for our rather simple food on a weekday. The food - fish and chips and burger - was also rather average in quality.
C. W.
Nice view and lots of tables. Standard pub food - no complains but nothing to write home about. Sometimes glasses need clearing more frequently and tables wiped. Queue at the bar is either really fast when you hit a good time or super slow as they tend to only have 2 servers on at a time. Still a really nice pub in Rotherhithe though.
l. e.
Lovely food very quickly served
R.
great on a sunny day. family friendly. lotsa space + parking. But ordering via app took much longer than at the bar (thus 4* instead of 5*).
J. E.
Average pub, good for a drink but the food isn’t as good as I expected it to be. The service is average as well and the staff definitely need more training. I live nearby and have been many times over the past few years each time hoping it will be better but it seems to be consistently not great.
Lovely views on a warm summer evening though but only for a drink.
B. A.
Nice view over the river from their terrace. Service was good but insufficient:only 2 people at the bar to attend everyone on a sunny warm day. Then we had to move somewhere else for dinner as they ran out of some of the products and also advice us it would take at least 1 hour.
J. H.
Good food and wine selection. Very pleasant table service. This place is good all year round but I love it in summer for the river views.
H. M.
A decent pub with Average food (I had a vege roast which was a bit rubbish though I really liked the gravy).
Pros:
Nice Beer
Nice View
Cons
Service was very slow and I think there in much need of new staff (though I did see many of them around). Please note it was not super busy when I was there.
Food order in upstairs kitchen took a ridiculous amount of time. This included getting the menus in the first place as well as getting the food itself. Drinks orders took a ridiculous amount of time to come (I felt like they almost forgot to get it).
Also toilets were not good.
I understand that this is a sort of heritage pub but it felt like the owners were trying to modernise while cutting corners.
S. W.
Visited the salt quay approximately 10 times in the last couple of years. Really like this pub as there's always space so you never struggle to get a table and the view of London is great. The food and service has always been excellent.
Visited last weekend for a roast, food was excellent however service was pretty poor, hopefully just an off day. Would still recommend!
F. R.
Great place . went Friday evening. Had the hot pepperoni pizza. Very nice cooked in a wood burning dome oven. The music was the best . House disco new tunes and classics . one cool Friday night out .
T. H.
This pub was born with a good looking view of the river, loads of space both indoors and outdoors and they’ve got a great looking menu. Unfortunately they really ballsed up on poor service, uncleaned tables and toilets swimming in piss all over the floor. Get your wellies and thick skin on if you want to enjoy it here.
J. M.
I am gluten free and was offered Chicken Wings. Well the portion was so generous and they were the tastiest I have ever had, plus excellent wine list and warm and friendly service. WILL BE BACK.
T. Z.
One of the best pubs in London! I was there a few times already and always happy.
First of all, food is delicious and range is quiet big. Every time I get something new and it's always very tasty.
Second, I got alcohol-free mochito for free in any quantity.
Didn't try a beer actually but I'm sure it's not bad )
Yes, there is a minus for people who wants just to relax after work - a lot of children, especially on weekends. But that's not a minus for me. Children doesn't bother you, they just play to each other. Perfect place for a family to have a rest and enjoy good food.
N.
Beautiful location just by the river. The building is lovely and chic, they have outside seating out in the sun or under the shade and inside they have upstairs as well as down. The menu choices are varied and the lunch menu prices from 12-5 are fair. Good for families too, will be back.

My partner and I came here on Wednesday evening to eat. We ordered steak and wine time with a starter. The squid was a good portion but lacking in flavour. Steaks were good portions and tasted good as well. I wasn't keen on the watercress however my partner liked it. We didn't know that the offer came with desserts. We had a brownie and banana sundae. They were good.
Overall, for £38 the value was good. The food was average.
S. T.
Nice big pub right on the river. Two floors so lots of space if you are a big group. Green king so the food is typical. I would say it is best on a sunny summer day to enjoy the Terrance and themes
N. L.
Great big place ideal for events. Green King range of beers and wine. Food improved and quick, not bad.
Happy hour 1600 to 1900 with a limited range of drinks on the 2 for 1 scheme.
A. T.
It's a really nice local pub which gets busy during the weekends; it has plenty of space though so it's always easy to find a seat to enjoy your drink either inside or outside. It right on the river ride so it's great to spend some time there during a sunny day.
C. M.
Great venue with terrific atmosphere, stunning river views, friendly staff and a wide range of beers and hard spirits (including Iceland's Reyka vodka!!). Very limited gluten free options but staff were helpful to try their best to compile a suitable meal.
F. V.
Really great location (more a 5 for this). It seems there is always a staff shortage and it can be seriously felt on a hot day when you have over one hour wait on your food even for something as simple as nachos. Wait at the bar could be long too. However, if time is not an issue, it's a great place with nice pub features inside, an amazing terrace and a great first floor with balcony straigh overlooking the Thames.
A. C.
This pub is not easy to reach with tube, so it's outside many touristic routes, which is good. It's a real English pub, most of customers are local. The place is real, not a plastic one. The location is amazing, overlooking the river Thames, with sunny weather it is even more enjoyable. There is a lot of room, so even when it's crowded you won't have other tables too close to yours. Recommended!
T. W.
I've walked past this place a number of times on strolls through Rotherhithe. Ventured in yesterday for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting red carpets, sticky tables and pub food odour. What I got was exposed brickwork, light and airy, a good atmosphere and friendly welcoming staff. The food was good - fried tempura which was light battered and tasty and a chicken burger and fries. I would return, especially in the summer with the expansive decking when this pub no doubt comes into its own.
C. G.
Clean, great staff ( holly and Alex) very friendly. Chicken burger is so tasty. Enjoyed every bit. Didn't take a photo as it was eaten before I remembered.
J. N.
This is a wonderful place to chill with friends, the tables outside are amazing with Riverside views and it's a beautiful old dock building
The service needs work though, the bar staff were rude and under staffed, I understand it's not their fault but customer service is the name of the game. Tables were not cleared due to this, and therefore they ran out of glasses. Not good.
I will go back to give them a second go, but less attitude would be lovely.
n. c.
I gave it four stars only for the venue, which is rather surprising. Both the building is spacious and well laid out over three floors, although top ones are mainly used for functions. All three have great terraces and outdoor space with ample seating areas covered and not and the view of the Thames and the City of London skyline are quite special. It use to be emply all the time but not anymore, having said that it is still pleasant and not overcrowded as it should or could be. By the way, it even has parking outside
A. T.
Nice location but I'm need of some TLC. Feels like a family eating house (which it is) and not what I expected having seen this from the river on the clupper. If you have kids and just want to hang out you will love it. If like me you want a quiet beer in a relaxed environment like me then this is not for you. The Prospect of Whitby directly opposite on the other side of the river is a much cosier atmosphere.
H. G.
Good atmosphere and nice product's.
Staff is nice and polite.
Service sometimes not so fast when busy.
Pub is well decorated and organized and easy to relax.
Opening times are good, accessible on week days as well weekend's.
Lots of choice with quality and accessible prices .
I. S.
Great views, good selection of beer. The service is not great.
I. M.
I'm torn on this pub. It's a great location with good beers and food (the triple fried chips are amazing) but the service is atrocious: the food takes an age to arrive, even on an quiet day, and when the bar starts to get busy they take their time and seem to pay no attention to who has been waiting.
I've been here a few times and I really like it, but my complaints are a constant that anyone I've spoken to seem to agree with.
Add 1 star if you're patient and subtract 2 if you're not...
s. m.
by pub standards this place is excellent and the service is good. i don't get why some people consider it expensive(cheap reviews). amazing location and a good variety of food. found it good value and not over priced. quality is better than the average pub food.
E. B.
Went here for the first time with our two doggies. All the staff was very nice with us, very good service. Selection of beers is great. The food is nice and so the atmosphere. There are good view of the river. Nothing bad to say. We'll come back!
C. B.
Cannot comment on the food as only had a drink in the late afternoon. Lovely view over river. The food looked good. Had good offers on drinks. Bar staff we're friendly.
P. E.
If you're looking for a quick, well priced and really tasty roast dinner this is the place to go. The lamb and beef are both really nice and potatos and veg perfectly cooked. Usually say they're filled booked when calling on the day but tell you to turn up anyway and will try seat you. Every time I've turned up and get a table straight away in the bar area. Perfect option if you want a roast but can't be bothered to make your own :)
M. G.
The food is not really good, the beer selection fairly unimpressive and the service quite slow. That said, it has a really nice massive outdoor area right next to the river. So a good option for a great summer day when everything nearby is packed.
I. Q.
The beer garden is actually quite nice. A massive tented area where you can smoke and not be left at the mercy of the weather.
The staff are slower at taking and completing orders than other places of similar size. However, they have Lagavulin and Woodford reserve so I'll shut up.
Great place to be by the riverside in summer.
L. P. M.
Nice boozer in a great location right on the river. Service, however can be slow, but drinks are reasonably priced. Haven't tried the food, but good to know the pub has a Food Hygiene Rating of 5.
A. H.
Modern faux Tudor-esque pub with an interesting range of ales and usual lagers. I was there during the hottest days in the summer and they had a huge terrace right on the river Thames. It was mildly busy bit but felt more so as they seemed very under staffed. The atmosphere was good but unless you're dying of malnutrition, don't eat here. The food is a bit grim and expensive for what you get - if memory serves, the onions rings were 8 small battered rings for around £4. Go for the drinks and view, eat somewhere else.
R. M.
Not much to say other than "it's a Wetherspoons." The location is fantastic, and the bar is very cool. Prices are really decent too, but the food is only so-so. My bangers and mash were covered in a watery, flavour-starved gravy. The sausages were a decent size, but I've had better from Jolly Hog packages I got at Sainsbury's.
j.
Food is great, good portions and price, love the deserts. Triple cooked fries are amazing. Never had a dish I didnt like. Only problem at times, understaffed, so it takes a long time to be served if the pub is full.
S. G.
The Old Salt Quay is well-placed right on the Thames with a good selection of tables with a river view.
Just recently I went there and enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch. Everything was really nice, and it was brought out pretty quickly. There was a slow cooker on the bar selling spiced apple, so I decided to have some. The guy behind the bar had no idea what I was talking about, so I had to show him the slow cooker before I could get my drink. It was pretty delicious with some dark rum added to it.
The dessert was very well-presented and tasty. All round I'd say it's a pretty nice place to go, a bit of a standard pub in some respects, not exactly classy or anything, just a good pub.
m. c.
great pub to go for a meal and / or drink. the location is ideal and benefits from a massive outdoor space.
I ended up ordering an usual salad which was very good.
The interior is very well decorated, and offers different atmosphere
T. W.
The food was good and the presentation of the food was lovely. It's best to go on a sunny hot day and the advantage of the beautiful scenery. The Thames is visible so is the O2 and the East Side of London. You occasionally will see the Thames Clippers zooming past.
Lovely view for a lovely day out
S. A.
The pub is huge with different atmospheres, downstairs music is louder, upstairs perfect and quiet for dinner and outside area with spectacular Thames views. Food is average-good. The clear problem is the service, slow and unkind
S. N.
Used to go here years ago when it was called Spice Island. Visited a few times recently under its new name, 'Old Salt Quay' and it hasn't changed much but that is not a bad thing. Food is above average but nothing spectacular. Outdoor seating area is next to the river Thames which is great. Venue is nice and spacious. A really nice pub to go with your friends for a quiet few beers and maybe some food.
P. R.
Great spot along the Thames. Incredibly friendly and attentive staff.
R. W.
This is a useful rendezvous point because it is off the beaten track, has a lot of space inside and out, and most importantly allows dogs, has a reasonable wine list and passable food. It cries out for more care and attention from the team that work here though. The dirty barbecues outside are not exactly a good advert for the place’s health & hygiene.
E. H.
Lovely place, lovely staff, great service 👍
S. G.
I certainly don't come here for the service. Severely let down by bad service either by poor management or lack of training. This place is in a fantastic location by the Thames, particularly in summer. I often choose it over the legendary Mayflower because of the space and views. It has a fairly inoffensive array of drinks and the food is quite alright. Just don't expect to be served in a hurry.
S. R.
Lovely outdoor space right on the riverside with fantastic views of Tower bridge and other London attractions. Friendly and polite service with a great food menu. Family friendly environment.
H. S.
Excellent view plus Excellent service and selection of beers. You need to order via the App or you can order at bar. You will also need to input your deets for NHS Tracking when entering
T. C.
Brill stuff. Take covid precautions very seriously. You feel safe, clear guidelines set out, and spaced out tables. And quick polite service, lovely staff.. Laura particularly welcoming, and delicious Sunday roast. Cheers all @ Salt Quay 👍
A. C. G.
Cosy pretty riverside pub. The best part is that is doggie friendly. On Sundays, there is vegetarian option of nut roast which is quite good. However, today, the quality of sides was a bit poor. Good option if you happen to be around the area anyway.
G. S.
lovely pub great views indoor and outdoor seating clean and friendly
R. R.
This place is right on the bank of the Thames so there are views of Tower Bridge and the City. The food was good (when it arrived) though after a few visits, it's obvious they need more staff! Sunday's a extremely busy, and even if you book in advance I'd suggest getting there early... or else there'll be noone on the bar to serve you
J. W.
Great location on the Thames with plenty of outdoor seating. When the sun shines there is no better place to be unless you want to get food or a drink. As soon as this place becomes busy, the wait times are ridiculous. I waited over an hour for a grilled cheese sandwich recently.
C. C.
This pub is a Greene King operation, and my "local" pub which I have visited many times over several years. However, due to the fact that it does have an outstanding outside seating area which now is partially enclosed and heated during the winter months, it does get a very wide clientele which also includes a fair share of tourists so in reality it's pretty tough to say it qualifies as a "local".
The menu has been simplified over the years, so there aren't a vast array of choices. To make it at least somewhat interesting, there are various twists on some of the normal standard fare dishes although some of them seem to have been done just for the sake of doing something different. The biggest problem with the menu is the service, which can be quite variable. Sometimes you can order and get a well prepared meal in short order, other times it can literally take an hour and/or the food is almost inedible. It's a large place which appears to be a challenge, the staff can change frequently, and they seem to make some operational decisions that defy belief, like closing down for several months for remodeling during the summer season a couple of years ago.
Having said all of the above though, it is truly a spectacular location and the reason I rank this as 3 - 4 stars. It is right on the south bank of the Thames and the entrance to the old Surrey Water docks, and you can always find free parking right at the pub in either their parking lot or on the street even if it's a full size tour bus. This is possible due to the fact that the Rotherhithe Street Bascule Bridge is a historical landmark which is open only to pedestrian, bicycle and motorcycle traffic. Coupled with the size of the pub and literally unrestricted parking you can always get in for a meal or drink when other places are inaccessible. It is also within easy walking distance from the Rotherhithe Overground station (5 minutes) or Canada Water Station (7 minutes) if you are not driving. If you have any interest in visiting this place, I would recommend giving it a try.
D. C.
Beautiful place close to the river, multifloor and good food and drink choice.
M. V.
Lovely place to stay with a company or with kids. I prefer open terrace with a good view and order great Sunday Roast with a lamb. You have a choice of alcohol free drink or vegan drink
N. P.
Standard Greene King pub. Nice view of the Thames especially on a sunny day.
R. C.
Nice location by the river. Would be ideal on a sunny day. The roast beef was mostly Gristle, and the veg weren't exactly amazing either. Nor was the table service. Friends hotdogs were missing onions as listed in the menu.
M. L. G.
Food slightly above average, but the barman knows his way around the beers he serves. Also, after an issue with the kitchen the manager really went the extra mile to get it sorted. Will come back.
A. A.
The best thing by far about this pub is it's location : river views and sun trap until the late hours when the sun is out. Unfortunately the service and food often left it down: the wait is huge on a sunny day and the food is normally average to poor. Still worth popping in for a drink to enjoy the sun
D. H.
Lovely place, great riverside location and potential to be awesome on a sunny day. Just a shame that they get overwhelmed when the sun comes out. This Sunday evening the bouncer was turning customers away because they had "too many people inside", despite them having plenty of empty tables (!!)...disappointing.
A. C.
Always find this place a great atmosphere for a family dinner or lunch. Food has recently changed on menu but still nice. Lovely view of the river and service with a smile.
C. J.
Good range of beers. On one evening we went there service was quick and very pleasant. Second time we went (Sunday afternoon), we were studiously ignored by the only person working the bar for about ten minutes. A second server arrived but started serving people who had arrived after us. I complained, but was ignored, so we left and went to the Mayflower.
P. A. P.
This used to be a good local but sadly every time I've visited lately, they don't have anything on their food menu or the wine list. They seem to run out constantly. They even ran out of milk a few weeks ago and were only serving black coffee.....bizarre. The food is lacking in every department, when it's available. I just pop over for a soda water and lime these days!
S. Z.
Love this place tucked away in surrey quays/ rotherhithe its huge great decor good selection of food and drink. Had one of the best pub sunday lunches in this place too. The outside seating is the highlight in the warm weather although sometimes hard to get a table but we just sit on the steps and grab a seat when one becomes available.
A. D.
Could Greene King please help this pub! Amazing location and great person-to-person service! However, the food has gone from amazing to average, and the general service has gone to hell... all in the last two years. I've been here for an hour - three tables that are covered in glasses and plates have yet to be cleared (one of them is mine):
J. S.
Exquisite. Good food. Good service.
M.
Local pub to so I visit frequently. It's a bit pricey but the only thing that let's it down is the food. We were a group of 8 women and 3 children. I paid £3 for the tiniest portion of 'rosemary salted fries'. They didn't contain even a hint of rosemary. They were no different to a child's happy meal fries from McDonalds. Hence why I asked if someone named Rosemary had salted them! I also asked for a garden salad with no dressing. It came with dressing!! It was a weekday afternoon and the place was almost empty so the staff wasn't exactly busy but we were there for about 2 hours and not one glass or plate was cleared. I had to clear the table myself!! 3* for the staff who are very nice and friendly
H. M.
Really nice and cosy pub with a nice local vibe. The staff are friendly and service is good. Great spot to chill and being right next to the river it's a perfect place to come by yourself or friends.
E. N.
Big pub with lots of places to sit. Large selection of drink and an average food menu. Lots to chose from but not great. I had a burger and it was very 'Weatherspoons'. Large outdoor seating area on the river though and can be nice in the summer.
J. R.
Food was lovely, staff helpful and friendly. It was quite busy and they had run out of wine glasses and some of the other patrons were quite rowdy, but we still had a nice evening next to the river.
F. D.
Amazing place of course, but as well serious on organisation around isolation requirements and pre-booking. Just one thing: not much of the drinks menu is actually available on the app?
M. B.
Good services and well prepared after Corona precaution
J. T.
The pub is great, awesome location on the river and the service is good. They're only let down by the food quality which is a bit weatherspoons. Stick to burgers and you'll be fine!
J. C.
used this pub for many occasions, from my wedding reception to reserving an area for my sons baptism drinks, they are really accomodating and are in a great location on the river, good car parking facilities. food is good, drinks prices are what you would expect in a london pub
N. R.
Great location, but all a bit lacklustre...place could do with a kick up the whatsit on service, decor and general attention to detail.
Caters to the masses in a tired way but will always be popular for its location right by the river with great views.
Gets very busy at weekends especially on warmer days... it's the sort of place where you'll properly dread going to the bar when it's busy and you'll come back to your table stressed.
L. A.
Go to this pub regularly. Very friendly and helpful staff.Lively views of the river
L. O.
Nice place, came here for meal with volunteer staff. Good food, and nice surroundings. Has an outdoor part with a good view, perfect in the summer or those who like night skies.
J. M.
Potential to be a great place. Nice view and building. Service let’s it down some what...
Issues with the app. Struggling with volume of custom
M. P.
We held a party here on Saturday. They gave us the upstairs, with balconies over the Thames. The buffet was stupendous and the staff were magnificent. And we, as hosts, got all the compliments for arranging such a wonderful event! Perfect!
E. C.
Chilled place in Canada Water. British style. Don't expect much from the menu and from cocktails but good selection of beers and burfers. 2for1 on cocktails during weekdays from 5 to 7 pm. Nice place outside with amazing view on the city. Packed during sunny weekends.
t. c.
Pub ok drinks pricey
E. O.
I love the location on the river and the staff are very friendly. The pub was updated a couple of years ago and has a nice decor and good food. I would appreciate more gluten free options, but it is a pub after all!
W. D.
A pleasant pub in a unique location but rather expensive and, at least when I was there under covid restrictions, they seemed to be having quite a bit of trouble fulfilling orders promptly.
K. K.
Decent food, good seating with a nice Thames view
D. N.
Wonderfully decorated pub with great food and selection of larges and bitters. Very friendly staff. I'll certainly be back there soon.
T. Y.
My local. Lovely pub with lovely view. Havent given it 5 stars because the food menu keeps changing. Last couple of changes havent been for the best. Seems unsure of itself. If bookings permitting, tend to go Mayflower nearby for pub lunches
M. B.
Perfect for drinks in the sunset. The atmosphere is quite and the views of the thames are unique. Huge house with different spaces for kids, sofas, board games,... The food is yummy and the range of beers is perfect. Not too expensive.
g. f.
Lovely meal with the family at the weekend just gone.
Only issue saff do not have a clue how to make an Irish coffee - we received two white coffees with whiskey shot on the aide
B. L.
Awesome view to the Thames, pretty decent pub food. Very decent sitting arrangement for the summer months.
Friend did a small post marriage registration there last summer and it was very enjoyable.
R.
Friendly staff, good service and great location. Quality and taste of food could be better. Food order for a small group of 3-4ppl has taken 45 -50 mins to be ready on a few different occasions...
S. C.
Good food but 3/4 menu unavailable. Lovely views.
M. D.
Reminiscent of a Western-style saloon, this pub offers a large terrace with an amazing view of the Thames and some of London's skyscrapers.
A. B.
Great view and location - idealic place to watch bustling Thames life with an early pint. Selection of drinks to suit all tastes. This place is big and does get busy, but that is to be expected of any place in London.
S. M.
Good service, plenty of room, multiple televisions, outside and inside seating, fair prices and a decent menu.
A good place to go, especially if you like views.
They take bookings without a minimum spend.
B. N.
It's fine, on a nice sunny day you can sit outside and relax with a reasonable view of the Thames. Beer range is limited, food is decidedly average, but it's just a bar doing its thing.
P. H.
Had Sunday lunch here on 2nd December 18. Staff were very welcoming and provided a quality service. The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. I would definitely eat here again and would recommend.
L. O.
Nice pub with an outside covered and heated drinking area. We had a few nibbles from the bar menu - very nice, especially the little spicy steak kebabs
A. v. W.
Great Old English Pub atmosphere with amazing views of the river and fantastic sun sets.
A. K.
This place have it all, Great food, history and friendly staff... totally recommend it!
J. Q.
Went twice. One on aweek day afternoon. I had a burger which was ok (didn't like much the meat though). A second time one a sunny Saturday afternoon. They were clearly understaffed and wait was way too long. The food was ok though.
E. P.
This is a decent place, refurbished nicely. The menu is great and the food is generally good. Unfortunately on a recent visit the "rosemary fries" had clearly been fried in oil that had also been used to fry fish. This is pretty disgusting.
A. L.
Service took time. But the restaurant was also full. The manager/owner came and apologised for the slow service. A good touch. Good location on the water front. Good views of the Thames
J. M.
Could not fault the food.... Or the selection of drinks. Three or us had a meal on Sunday... The busy period had just finished...
Our garlic bread starter arrived the same time as the main meal... No cutlery...
I asked for mustard.. Didn't arrive... My husband found a staff member for asked mustard again..... 15 minutes later my son went to find a staff member and asked again. I waited so long for it turn up... My meal was cold... So I didn't eat it.... Just picked.... Personally I think you were understaffed ... Which ruined my meal..
P. F.
Lovely spot in front of the river. Grrat atmosphere.
K. C.
My go-to when I have visitors.
Shout out to special chicken wing Wednesday. Great pub food with river view rivalling the Prospect of Whitby on the other side.
M. S.
A very nice pub next to the waters of The Thames. Quite a bit of seating, but you would be hard pressed to find a place outside on a good sunny day. Good view of the northern bank of London.
T. K.
Amazing service thanx to Victoria - she has been amazing :-) Great view and drinks
I. T.
Good location. Very secluded. What you want for a peaceful afternoon.
J. T.
Really nice fish and chips, well priced beer - especially for this city, nice views up the river, unpretentious decor and friendly staff 👍
M. H.
Lovely Riverside pub. Good covid response. I love ordering & paying from the app. Prices are a little on the high side which is why it's only 3 stars
A. A.
Lovely staff and very accommodating. Took a little while to get our meal, but it was delicious. Cod and Chip mwah. Chef did a brilliant job.
J. G. W.
Very large outdoor area right by the water. It's not a bad stop if you get there during a quiet time. However, when is busy, they can never seem to cope... Long queues, sometimes run out of glasses and the food can take a very, very long time.
M. d.
Our last experience was average
We felt that prices did not reflect the quality of the food- very oily
The menu options are quite reduced- no salads options- no kids menu
The access to the table is though for entering but not exiting and the access to the toilet and back needs work to respect social distancing
So overall it can do better
M. S.
Decent food but the best thing about this pub is the location. Lovely place to spend a warm summer evening watching the sun go down over the Thames.
M. M.
This pub is just amazing with an awesome view on the river. Best place to go after work or for Sunday roast.
Plenty of space outside to enjoy nice weather and a terrace.
K. H.
Awesome fish and chips!
E. S.
Sits on the banks of the river and has a patio overlooking the River Thames. It's worth exploring the area as well the Rotherhithe Tunnel is just next to the pub. I had fish and chips with my buddy and it was just fine but the service is too slow.
L. B.
Great food and river views anytime of the year
R. T.
Veggie burgers have way too much of red chillies, we can't feel our lips now. Bit pricey for the food portions and not many veggie options to start with.
J. R.
49 of us rolled up on a bus for a pre booked Sunday Roast. Made to feel really welcome excellent meal and service and a good range of ales and wine 🍷.
A. Y.
I have a roast here nearly every Sunday alone with my laptop to get on top of admin after teaching yoga with a great buzz of energy all around. It's amazing at sunset during the fairer seasons and my family and friends love the riverside location when the visit.
H. K.
Its getting better, the staff have improved. The food needs a little work.
S. K.
Due to it's huge size it feels a bit unfamiliar just till you find your own little corner. If you wisely choose to sit outside during a warm day you'll feel like beeing on an island and that's a great add up as it's not following the usual layout of a London's riverside pub
S. W.
I have been here many times over the past 22 years and never had a problem. The area is quiet and pleasant. The food is well worth the price and the staff are friendly. I love this place.
S. L.
Excellent views and lovely atmosphere. Unfortunately the service has deteriorated over the last couple years. Service is slow, especially for food, and the full menu is rarely available
A. B.
Just been refurbished so looks much nicer inside. They've improved the selection and quality of ales significantly. Service and quality for the food is still a bit poor (long wait and a burnt burger).
Great place to sit outside on a sunny day though and loads of seating inside and out.
J.
Lovely food and a great atmosphere! Want to go back again!
H. W.
An amazing pub for a summer's day, when the gentle lap of the Thames scores a picture postcard view of the city. Unfortunately I visited on a very cold February evening, so none of those things applied. In my head it's mid August though.
J. B.
Have been to this pub for over 20 years always a nice atmosphere friendly service
Can get a little bit busy when the sun is out because the views are outstanding over looking the river Thames.
very nice atmosphere lovely looking over the
B. B.
Wasn't blown away by the food but it's a superb place to have a drink on a sunny day. There is loads of space inside and outside, it's comfortable and clean.
I would recommend.
T. F.
Mediocre at best. The food was okay, I ordered a veggie burger but it was not worth the price. Dessert was a standard reheated affair.
The location is all it has going for it but that enough for it to be a good pub on a sunny afternoon.
B. F.
It's not a Gastropub by any stretch — fried or deep fried, and a JIT stock management system means they will often run out of dishes. Also, understaffed, which has knock-ons for service and it isn't the fault of those working there. They're trying to do their best.
C.
A lovely pub with an upstairs over looking the river. Leave your kids at home unless they are mature enough to mostly sit still to fully be able to appreciate the surroundings and ambience.
S. A.
Staff - super nice, but take their time
Location - beautiful, many tables,
Space - loads, various environments
Manager - DOESN'T GET ENOUGH STAFF FOR A SHIFT. There's a private party upstairs, so food takes 40+ minutes, bartenders look exhausted and bewildered trying to cope with the 15+ people queue, tables are barely cleared, and everyone can see this isn't functional. MANAGE IT BETTER.
M.
This is my favourite place/pub in London and the view it’s worth it especially in the summer, food it’s great and delicious and I do recommend the huntsman chicken 🤤 and a glass of local beer, very popular but with a lot of open space and great for kids as well very safe
D. H.
It's a place to go for a drink and to enjoy the view if the sun is out. Good selection of lagers and ales. Not the biggest fan of the food and the place could be cleaner. It's a shame as this could be a really nice place but too many things let it down.
C. P.
It's accessible with a lift and level access. Food was fine, drinks were reasonably priced. Nice to sit by the river. Contest night upstairs is great.
E. B.
This pub has a nice outside space (no grass) overlooking the water and the high buildings in the city. Prices are average and food quite good.
M. L.
Awesome for a Sunday relaxing walk!
R. D.
Great views. Great interiors. Outside space is superb. Good pub food. Slow service gives it one less star
B. C.
Very good view and atmosphere however the food could be a little better, but for a chain pub it's all you could ask for really.
R. D.
It was ok, but chilly in shade and having to install and order on the app and half of options not available. It was better last time

Wonderful location and building, terraces on the Thames, friendly staff, great drink selection. Better food elsewhere but fish and chips (and fried stuff in general) are ok.

Great place to go outside with friends

Nice pub 5 mins walk from Rotherhithe station with great views along the river. Staff were friendly and will be going back.

Big comfy pub with beautiful views to the Thames. Very tasty food and nice selection of beers and ciders.

Was lucky enough to visit on a surprisingly quiet Saturday afternoon as it was really nice weather. Good selection of drinks and nice food made even better by being able to sit by the Thames!

Great food, friendly staff, good view. Burgers were amazing. Highly recommended.

I like the place and the position is nice on the riverside. It's never too crowded and the place is big. So perfect for groups of people. The food is decent and honest prices

Lovely hunters chicken in quite relaxed atmosphere staff friendly and helpful

Nice waterside location which sells great food and drinks.
I found it whilst out and about was not expecting such a great pub in the area.
Worth exploring.

Really nice location and feel, food is very well priced and sunday lunch is seasonal and very tasty. There are great views over the Thames from the upstairs balcony

Old Salt Quay pub has a very serene atmosphere. Patio facing Thames and The Shard is huge. The food is good too but service is often a bit slow, which is a bit annoying at times. But on a sunny day with high tide in Thames its probably one of the best places to be.

Huge pub on the river. Obviously not very cosy or intimate but great for big parties. 2 nice terraces on the Thames. Typical pub food, which wasn't really great imo.

Lovely place but the menu is a bit limited. Order from their app, easy and COVID-friendly :)

the location of it is superb especially in summer, but regrettably the beer selection is quite poor and nothing seems exciting about their food menu. Would love to visit more frequent if the beer quality could be improved...
