amazing people who run the pub so kind and friendly and what a great place

The Sir Richard Steele is probably my favourite pub. With its upstairs area currently being converted into flat, the future of the pub is a bit uncertain, but when it's open it's lovely. It's in a perfect location, and the beer garden is fenced off from the rest of the world for a feeling of security and privacy. The interior decor is incredible; there's always some ornament or hanging picture that I spot for the first time with each visit. Prices are reasonable. Staff are friendly. It's the best pub!

Entering here is like jumping into another dimension! The place is full of antiquities and rooms where sitting. The drinks choice is amazing. There's the possibility to play with board games.

5th week in a row having their Sunday lunch. Really beautiful, tasty food, with large portions — and very reasonably priced. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The Steeles is now privately owned by a wonderful chap named Steve, and he's making a real go of it.

We celebrate our wedding anniversary by finding a place that has the traditional gift in its name. Hence this pub for our 11th. Loved the old interior. Limited menu because of what's going on but the fish and chips were fine. The staff were lovely and really looked after us, treating us to a cheeky shot of something for our celebration. We don't live nearby so won't be back soon but definitely enjoyed a comfy afternoon there.

Charming pub kitchen with friendly team of staff. Nice street facing beer garden the seats between 20-30 with social distancing in place. Food is worth the visit. Good selection of draft & bottled beer. Will visit again.

If you’re looking for a pub for a Sunday lunch, classy cocktails or just some mid-week fish and chips, look no further. The nicest pub you’ll ever visit. Laid back atmosphere, family friendly (and lads night friendly where applicable), incredibly attentive, lovely staff, and the some of the best pub food and drinks you could find. We come often, and we (nor the friends we bring) are ever disappointed.

A really chilled spot with Nooks and Crannys (explore inside and you’ll have a laugh when you notice). Very cozy, and whilst not the best pub food, a great spot for a few drinks.
