Reviews of The Birds
T.
Really nice vegan pub, extensive menu, good garden and nice unique theme of “the birds” by Alfred Hitchcock. The vegan roast was delicious however it came out cold, but this was quickly rectified by the very friendly and apologetic staff. Would definitely come back.
Y. M.
Good vegan brunch and was able to add on some bacon and pouch eggs to suit for my non vegan needs. Good service and pretty good food too. One star off as there were only 3 main brunch options so I’m looking forward to coming back to try the Sunday roast and lunch options
F. I. t.
👍🏾really cute date place. Cute section for some oldskool gamers. Halloumi burger was nice but really needs something else, was pretty dry and low on like any kind of taste. Like a chuntey/relish. Best thing we ordered were the dirty fries.
They were banging!
Service was lovely 🖤
D. K.
A vegan friendly pub with 2 floors and a beer garden with covered areas. Good selection of beers and other drinks. As a vegan you are spoilt for choice with their food menu. Their are also one or two meat options if you are with friends who follow a meat eating diet. The service is great, the staff are really friendly, as are the locals, which makes it an overall great vibe. Will be popping in again for sure.
G. G.
Love this place! Great beer, always have guest pumps and their food is good. Burgers, pies and Vegan options too. They have a great beer garden and their bottomless brunch is fun!
L. A.
Good service helpful staff. My friend who is a cook himself thought his sausages and mash delicious. I found my halloumi burger a bit dry and bland. It could have been juicier. The other diner in our group had soup which arrived tepid and rather thick , disappointing but his sandwich was OK.

I went to the Birds a Saturdays ago and had a brilliant night!
The staff were super friendly, food/drinks were great and the DJ made the night so fun!!
I''ll definitely be spending more weekends there :)
R. S.
Great pub with a good vibe but the food is a let down.
Ordered one of the only gf and vegan options but they ran out of burger buns so it came on gf bread which was over toasted and tiny. Partner ordered steak pie which was warm at best and the mash portion was tiny so he ended up ordering chips too. Very average.
c. m.
Great menu (also vegan!) and beer & drinks options. Cozy beer garden even for winter days and indoor space is quite unique with good music.
H. F.
Absolutely love it here - always amazing vegan food (and my meat-eating boyfriend is always happy as well). The outdoor space is really great - well covered and with good heaters, but nice and ventilated too, with screens between the tables. And there’s a nice fun vibe out there (and often dogs).
L. W.
It's an absolutely lovely pub. Sadly, it's ruined by the DJ on a Saturday night who is insistent on playing music that, from the looks of the patrons, is being enjoyed by nobody. I'd recommend a more eclectic mix of music.
J. K.
Great vegan options on the menu. Mac&cheese should not have been only like side.
Garden is well covered and heated. We enjoyed our time and kind service.
Just smokers was a bit disturbing. Do not come with baby at busy time!
L. T.
Great service and food... But I was having a debate with a friend about whether the portrait on the wall was Jack Nicholson from one flew over the cuckoo's nest. My friend disagreed and said it wasn't and said it was supposed to be a an image of the actor from 'The Birds' film. The bartender also agreed with him. However after finding this image on the way home I believe I can rest my case!

Nice pub but it's been a few years since I've ordered food there after ordering a buffalo and blue cheese burger that came without either buffalo sauce or blue cheese, and was then remedied by some hot sauce and some stringy, greasy, melted blue cheese in a pot. I've finally ordered from them again and ordered the vegan burger with nacho cheese. It's arrived with a cheese slice instead. If you're at all tied to eating specifically what you've ordered then I recommend ordering somewhere else.
J. C.
Good food and good beers, bit pricey considering location especially for soft drinks. Great staff and great with dogs, however one member did ask us to come up to the bar for faster service hinting that we shouldn't use table service... However it's what we prefer to use.
T. S.
Great roast dinner, loads of meat - I had the lamb - and beautifully cooked. My only criticism of the food is that there was nothing green on the plate as trimmings were squash, carrots, potatoes, Yorkshire pud and white cabbage, but all were excellent and there was loads of lovely thick gravy- a boat load / gravy train if you will. My wife had the vegan Wellington- a bit annoyed there wasn't also a vegetarian version (I.e. with normal pastry round the edge) but she said it still tasted really good. Lots of atmosphere in the pub, friendly staff, loads of craft beers and relatively kid friendly, although no high chairs or changing facilities as far as I could see - so some improvement could be made there if the management are reading this! I try not to give 5 star reviews unless the place is really good, and so despite the criticisms above, this is definitely a 5 * pub!
R. P.
Lovely pub. Too many hipster craft ales for my tastes, but hey - they had a street fighter 2 arcade machine.
C. L.
A pub with a bit of character and (dare I say) Antic-style shabby chic. Emphasis on "craft beer" rather than cask beer which is a great shame.
Friendly staff and clientele on a quiet Saturday lunchtime
I left after one pint of well-hopped over-chilled fizz.
W. C.
First visit was followed by our second visit the next day. Excellent place. Great beer, novel menu and extremely friendly staff.
E. W.
Roasts are absolutely massive and the vegan one is super tasty. Best vegan roast around. Nice friendly vibe in the pub with cool artwork and music
L. A. d. P.
Really nice pub. Came here for brunch with a vegan friend. She had the pancakes which were so good I had to double check they were actually vegan. Great service and the cutest outside area. Would recommend to a friend (and random strangers on the internet)
S. C.
I was taken here by a vegan friend who had visited a few times previously and I can see why. Nice ambience and friendly staff alway help to make you feel relaxed. A decent selection of beers and craft ales on offer but the main attraction, if you are a vegan or vegetarian is the food. As a meat eater I was glad to see a few ‘quality sourced’ meat options on the menu which my friend was expecting me to go for. I didn’t. Instead I went for the vegan döner kebab and we shared a monster plater of the dirty fries. The food was tasty and full marks go to the dirty fries which were immensely satisfying. My only gripes would be that everything came with a dollop of mac cheese on top, even my friend’s vegan burger, which I found a bit bland and flavourless. My seitan döner meat was tasty but such a tiny amount compared to it’s high street meat version. Seitan was tempting but I’m not going over to the other side just yet. Happy to keep sampling though. One big plus was the fact that all food has a 50% discount through February. What’s not to like about that? Looking forward to my next visit 😊

Went for the Mekka Bingo night was fabulous, had a right laugh, and gained a Fray Bentos pie from it. The service from the staff was impeccable they were so lovely and friendly too, has a wide selection of drink and the dirtiest food 😄but there is still bits for veggies too. And if you have a dog they have tons of free biccies for them. Anyone who had an issue with the grub before go back! They have sorted the kitchen out my chicken and waffle sandwich was only a tenner and came with loads of fries and my mates fish and chips was bigger than her head with beautiful flaky fish and a superb crisp batter
d.
Great bar with good range of beers from a local brewery, a little expensive for a beer so local but still a great bar
L. V.
Been in here a lot recently and the vibe is so lovely !! So nice to have somewhere that feels refreshing, cool and modern and not like other pubs in the area. The staff are all so lovely including the sweet girl that served us called alex. 10/10 recommend !!
I. M.
Big choice of beers tap room style pub. If you are vegan plenty of options
V. V.
Love the vegan food and beer here, garden is nice as well with the fairy lights on. The staff always lets me try beer or cider if I’m not sure will I like it, which is a very nice
D. R.
Great Venue.
Had the Eyre Room and it fully met our expectations. Staff was very helpful too
P. A.
Despite the ornithological name, not a single member of staff was a bird of any kind. Sundays here are for roats only. Look elsewhere if you're after smashed avacado on toast.
P. J.
A great local pub with lovely vegan options. Has a cute covered beer garden with outdoor heaters. I love their pub quiz.
L.
Chickenish burger and dirty fries for me. Chicken burger and man n cheese for the gf. Honestly loved it! Great food and service. Lovely staff who are happy to help. We popped in on a Monday for this and a couple of drinks. Funky, modern, shabby chic bar.
V. G.
Nice pub with cool board games. Beer was very average sadly
K. G.
Very cosy, friendly staff and the best vegan beef burger around.
J. G.
I really like the birds alot, I have been for drinks with work mates and participated the quiz night. It has a good atmosphere and is a fun night out and has a good drinks menu.
Today my husband and I came for Sunday roast. Was very tasty food, the only down side portion size slightly small for a Sunday roast.
c. m.
Excellent vegan wings and mac and cheese! Amazing old pub done up with a Hitchcock theme!
M. S.
Ordered takeout from here and initially had a not great experience. However, the management team got in touch and asked if they could make it up to me, sent out a very well made order, listened to all my criticisms and massively improved. This is the biggest thing for me.
The Chicken burger is really good here, as well as the blue cheese sauce!
Would go again!
G. O.
Food was delicious and the staff was very friendly! Also love the ambience and decor. It's also a great place to get work done.
A. M. -. S.
Only had time for one drink but the bar has good vibes :)
N. H.
Great pub with lovely friendly atmosphere, awesome burgers, great drinks selection, friendly staff... And quiz on a Wednesday!
F. H.
Tasty foods, nice beers, friendly bar staff and some great decor. What more do you want?
m. c.
Lovely venue, pleasant staff. Not the cheapest pub, but atmosphere makes up for this.
R. J.
Great bar service! & absolutely fabulous live music! 👌
I was lucky enough to see Young Athena on my visit & it was a great night!
F. D.
Very cosy pub, trendi decoration. The young staff will take care of you and make sure you will never dry out or feel hungry.
T. D.
Really good place. I love the thing that they didn't fill the pub with tables and chairs giving people the chance ti move easily inside the place. Besides the food is very good and the staff is really kind.
D.
Great pub, great Hitchcock themes, great food and amazing atmosphere
V. K.
Great vegan food and atmosphere! Don’t pay attention to the recent negative reviews.
Ordered seitan wings, chicken burger and salad. All was top notch.
K. C.
The most beautiful porchetta roast I've ever had the pleasure of eating.
G. H.
The VFC Chicken burger is excellent, it's kind of amazing that's it's actually vegan! The side of tots is also really tasty.
I wouldn't bother with the double cheeseburger. It was suppose to have bacon but I don't think I had any on mine. The overall burger was lacking in flavour or punch.
A. C.
the vegan menu is okay but you need to find a new "very very hot sauce", because the current one tastes like 1 part tabasco 2 parts extra vinegar, incredibly underwhelming for how much you big it up
J. R.
Didn't expect to need my Keep Cup for my fries. Appalling disregard for sustainability and the excuse from management was incredibly weak.
The food, however, was decent. The vegan chicken burger was nice and the roast wasn't too shabby.
No cask ales on when we went which is criminal, but the keg selection did the trick.
The old fries in a coffee cup entirely ruined my experience.
J. M.
Really nice vegan food, options for the meat eaters too, and craft beer from London breweries - typically the smaller independents. Old video games machines too!
J. G. M.
Good beer, customers were not talking loud, nice atmosphere in the garden, enjoyed playing cards while was having a beer, definitely will come back. Also the service is quite fast, I like it!
R. B.
Nice place with a decent vibe, a bit of a hipsters place but not overly so.
Went with my elderly parents for a Sunday roast. Was too noisy for them, speakers everywhere and hard furnishings. Staff were helpful enough to turn down the music as much as they could which was appreciated but still too loud.
Food was served nice and hot, couple of mistakes with the order, but tasty enough. Not cheap at £17 or so for a beef Sunday roast though.
o. T.
Great backpacker hostel with amazing food and a great vibe down stairs, if I was simply reviewing the bar, drinks available and food combined with service then it would be 5 stars however the hostel could do with a little spruce up as I would have to say it's tidy but not necessarily clean. It is very much on par with many other hostels I have stayed in so please don't let me put you off. However, with everything else at the Birds being so good I do feel the hostel portion has a little way to go before it gets a 5 star from me!!
H. R.
Shout out to The Birds for the best seitan KFC chicken burger I have EVER had. Amazing vegan food, lovely beer and cute beer garden. Recommended.
N. H.
A regular haunt of ours and a fantastic place to catch up and have a bit of a booze. We always stay in the back which since it's renovation has really been transformed to a nice space to just chill. Heating outside is always welcome and the lights are great. It also has some really great events they host and even have guest restaurants which again are very nice. Their own menu is ok and I love the sweet potato fries I just wish their food was tasty as the pub down the road. But definitely worth a drink and a catch up
C. J.
A great pub, very nice atmosphere and a great selection of beers. There are also events during the week, such as quizzes and music.
The hostel is also nice, but it can be a bit hard to sleep if you are staying there on a Friday or Saturday, when the bar plays music untill 2 am. Still, for the price it is still worth it! Although it is located a bit far from the center of London it's just 3 minutes away from a tube station (with a line that operates 24hrs in the weekends). Best quality/price hostel in London
M. S.
I recently had my 30th birthday celebration at The Birds on a Saturday night. I had reserved an area in the bar downstairs for 40 people, and had buffet food put on.
The service i received from Rich, via email prior to the event was excellent, and everything was very easily arranged. The buffet food was really nice, and arrived all at once. (And was very reasonably priced).
We all had a fantastic night, made better by the excellent service of the bar staff. Having the table tennis and beer pong was great fun. There was a DJ on, and the music was surprisingly good.
All in all i strongly recommend using The Birds for any large parties/group gatherings. I would certainly go there again.
D.
A good pub in Leytonstone. Not too busy - ideal in covid times. Very child and dog friendly. If that's not your thing you'll struggle. Lovely bar staff, absolutely ace. Food is hit and miss. But you'll get to sit and chat here which you won't in neighbouring joints.
C. H.
Just discovered this new place and stopped off for a beer. We decided to eat as the menu looked so tasty. So glad we did, the veggie roast was delicious and the pork roast was very tasty and more food than we could manage (though we did order a starter, no need when having a roast) Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back (soon) to eat and sample those great beers.
B. B.
Great pub V helpful staff
J. W.
Amazing roast in a really interesting space. They do yoga upstairs and have a great beer garden too!
F. C.
I like this place. Got myself a nice craft cider and took a comfy seat in the garden with my lovely wife and had a great time. Was in the middle of the afternoon so it wasn't at all too crowded or noisy - just how I like it
R. D.
Literally made an account to be able to review this place because I loved it so much! Brilliant music, lovely staff, cosy vibe and one of the best vegan burgers I've ever had! So great to have a predominantly vegan menu that still has a meaty option to please my omni friends and some of them chose the vegan options and have been ranting about how good they are since! Will 100000% be making this our local!
K. O. B.
Such a lovely brunch. The lady Kayla was so friendly and attentive which was really kind as we had a double birthday to celebrate. Having not long been back from America long, the pancakes were top notch too. Brilliant place with brilliant staff.
M. F.
Fantastic place! Thanks to Laila who was very helpful. Definitely coming back (I celebrated my nieces birthday here last year so this message is an edit for my experience today on the 18/10/20). Thanks to all staff their too!
S. Z.
Amazing pub, food and service. But NO ONE, I say NO ONE but us, was wearing a mask. Nor to come in, nor the staff. Tables outside were quite sticky and not clean. Just reinforce the cleaning during these difficult times! 🤙🤙
T. G.
We ordered from The Birds on Deliveroo and it was delicious! We got the Dirty Fries, Vegan Fried Chicken burger and the Seitan strips. Our first foray into Seitan and it was amazing! Thank you so much x
A. J.
Amazing vegan food. The new chef is brilliant, after a rocky opening and pisspoor vegan food. However, to have no beef burgers at 7.30pm on a Saturday for my lad is criminal (apparently). Though tbh, I don’t care. The vegan food is so fantastic it feel like the opposite of the usual deal with vegans. I’d be happy if the pub went 100% vegan. The craft beer selection is good, though the boards are not clear on a night with the light down. It wouldn’t harm to stock the fridges with more bottles and cans - if you don’t want draft the choice is limited.
d. t.
Very limited menu on a sunday late afternoon. What we had was ok, nothing explicitly wrong but nothing I'd recommend to friends. Prices not really reflective.
C. C.
A couple of friends and I tried this pub recently and to be fair it's not a bad place to relax with a drink or two. It is fairly expensive for what it is, pint and a half of cider cost £10 and the Lamb roast although nice if lacking on meat slightly was around £15. The games are a good idea though and we ended up playing Jenga for the evening. Worth a visit
B. J.
Great vibes for this pub. Food is a bit vegany but the limited non vegan food is pretty great. The events are really good fun and the beer selection is superb.
S. J.
Good selection of beers and food. Menu is primarily vegan but even the hardened carnivores in our group found things they liked! Friendly staff, relaxed and characterful environment.
A. K.
Best place to stay. It has very reasonable rate to live. Best for people who come with friends. It is very secured and it has got a restaurant as well. Complimentary breakfast is provided and it's worth. Discount on drinks if you are staying. Beds are clean. They have bunk beds facility with RF keys. Bathrooms are clean. They have a backyard where you can have a good time. Staff is nice.
l. w.
Had a refit and rebrand in summer 2017. Good selection of limited run craft beers. Has some decent outside seating out the back. Staff are friendly and helpful. It does do food (including promotions such as bottomless brunch and all you can eat wings) but can't comment on how good it is. Some drinks can be a bit pricey but for the craft beer it is shown on a chalk board, so you are aware of the price.
C. W.
Staff were very friendly, vegan options were great, nice to have different vegan meat options. All the food was wonderful and the atmosphere was lovely.
L. C.
Bit disappointing read some good reviews. First choice food wasn't available, second choice, bacon cheeseburger arrived, was very tasty. Unfortunately no cutlery or napkins. Now maybe they should have already been on the table, but it wasn't checked.
C. S.
Great place, lovely chilled quirky pub with outside space. Vegan Sunday roast delicious, and the chocolate cake to finish was divine.
D. W.
I've been vegan for four years and I have to say their vegan chicken burger is the best I've tasted. Lovely atmosphere, just be careful outside as there may be a few undesirables walking past but not hanging around. Defo recommended. Be careful with your mobile wherever you go in London. Snatch and grab is the flavour of the century. Use headphones, wireless or wired. Don't carry your phone in your hand. Trust me, I work for the met.
Y. T.
Delicious vegan and veggie options- we got the loaded fries, seitan burger and tofu burger which were all great! Lovely relaxed vibe and friendly staff.
D. F.
Love it. Great vegan options. Try the vegan bacon just to say you’ve tried it. Outdoor heaters. Friendly staff. Couldn’t ask for much more.
P. d. S.
Love it here, I’m now a regular! The food is always tasty (especially the burgers!) and a great selection of wines and beers. There’s lots of floor space so great for family with kids and beer garden for when it gets warmer, a great addition to Leytonstone High Rd indeed.
P. P.
Good range of beers and vegan food + cosy vibe
E. c.
Nice pub, cosy, chilled atmosphere! Good beer selection. Great fun events in the upstairs room, like themed quizzes and Bottomless drag brunch which was £25 for 4h of fun, food and unlimited booze! What's not to love!
D. W.
Great local pub with plenty of events and tastes catered for. Will be back again 😊
D.
Really great experience for bottomless brunch. Will definitely be back, food and drinks were great - staff lovely and friendly.
So impressed with the prices too!
C. A.
The Birds ... Where the girls and pretty and the grass is green and the local brews are out of town delicious. Don't be that guy or gal sticking to original be bold and try something new. Heck the place is definitely authentic. A bit of spice around the original town of leytonstone. The best pub here. Don't be a square go visit it. Heck they have a fooz table and arcade. The feel is super chill and non fancy. Music is gr8 and welcome feel factor. Very cool. If you miss out you are a turtle dropping.
A. S.
Great pub with brilliant beer selection and beer garden. Very friendly staff, they don’t pester and are super accommodating. Supports independent breweries but not pretentious. Food is a bit hit and miss, though.
T. M.
Visited this pub for a friend's birthday bash... They hired the room upstairs. I had a great time. Its a great space and the staff are lovely. Good place to meet nice people drink some great drinks. Go have a good time... Its a pub.
N. W.
Nothing but good things to say about The Birds. Great beer, staff and atmosphere. Always looked after as soon as I walk in for a pint. Great Sunday roast too. Recommended for sure - and a cut above any boozer in the area
A. T.
The pub itself has been really well renovated. Beautiful interior and some stylish prints. The garden needs a bit of work. No idea why anyone opts for astro turf over brick or paving. The beer selection seemed really good and wasn't as expensive as others had mentioned.
However the big downfall and why I deducted 2 stars and was considering deducting 3 was the food. Really really poor , was such a disappointment. I ordered the steak and the cut was dreadful, thin and grey. Chips seemed oven cooked and the mushrooms that came with it were actually inedible.
The wife's burger was alright but nothing compared to what is available locally at places like the Leyton Star, Baggio Burger and the red lion.
If they improve the food dramatically they're on to a winner with this place.
P. R.
Great service, lovely staff, awesome food. Had to leave though after a while as a bunch of their draught beers were off and the selection wasn't great, but I'd imagine that's to do with Covid and being busy. Nothing but love for The Birds
R. C.
Good beer, great staff, ping pong table is an amazing idea! But putting bird seed in sweet machines almost caught me out! Makes a great game as the night goes on waiting for someone to get confused and eat a handful!
Another place that is putting free drinking water out for you to help yourself to which i think is a really good idea
C.
I have mixed feelings, it's a nice enough place a d staff are friendly but their is something I dont like about it personally I'm not sure what but it' has a school cafeteria feel about it. It has a good selection of craft beer wich is ace but it's just not my cup of tea
C. R.
Not really a fan of the birds. Whilst we have had a good experience here, we've also had a terrible experience. The Sri is are really overpriced although if you have the dusk app you can get a free drink and a discount on your first round. Xmas eve the staff were very busy and unbelievably rude. For that reason, we have not been back. Unfortunate as it could be so much better.
G. L.
Went for the bottomless brunch for my birthday with a large group. When I arranged the booking the deal was priced at £20 but by the time I went to pay it had gone up to £34 with a new developed menu to include more drink options. We agreed via email that as I booked the old deal which was no longer available we would pay slightly more (£24 each) and in exchange we would have access to the full new, more expensive package. As a group of 25 people they would not want to lose the booking so this seemed a fair compromise. On arrival we were not permitted the full improved brunch package despite me showing the email, staff were unhelpful and unwilling to reason.
The staff also would not take our food order meaning we had to co-ordinate an order for 25 plus people with some ordering extras and swaps it became very confusing especially after a few proseccos. Which inevitably meant some orders came out wrong. Considering we were the only people in the whole pub it seems strange that they couldn't just help us out and take our order.
On the website and DMN the brunch offer also promises a DJ from 12pm. There was no DJ or even Spotify playlist to boogie to.
That being said the food was very good, the beer garden is lovely and we still managed to get our monies worth in booze 10 times over so can't really complain. Despite the best efforts of the staff, fun was had by all.
S. W.
New chef arrived this summer. Delicious burgers, the dirty fries are so so good and the super salad with sliced pear and a touch of truffle were a taste sensation. What a great edition to Leytonstone high road
A. W.
Great service, low key funky pub with food, music and a great secret garden! Excellent selection of beers with 16 keg beers and usually 4 interesting ciders and 4 draft beers. Less of a crèche than the rest lion!
S. C.
Lovely Setting, Food & Drink a bit pricey but good. They do half priced food forgotten what nights. Think Monday & Wednesday. Check before you go! Friendly & helpful staff!
L. F.
Use The Birds often as a co working space and have been in for drinks in the evening. Love the food and the staff have always been great. Today have just taken the family in for Sunday lunch which was really tasty.
s. k.
My boyfriend and I have just moved to Leytonstone and dropped into the Birds for the first time last Friday night! What a fantastic place- a great food menu, wide range of pale ales and super friendly staff! Can't wait to visit again!
T. D.
Bottomless mimosa brunch with the corn fritters was utterly delicious. Good value way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Great venue, great staff. Wouldn't change a thing.
A. L.
Great little pub garden with good covid safety. Good selection of food, both good for the carnivores and for the vegans :)
L. H.
Cosy pub which accommodated a big group of us with buggies in the daytime for tea and coffee. Spacious with friendly bar staff and baby changing facilities. Would definitely return!
C. A.
I love the birds. It's retro chic. Got loads of character. Best beer around in the area and has a real swell interior. I live the bar staff they are such great ppl
L. R.
Loads of vegan options & nice people
O. J.
Lovely vibe in this new addition to Leytonstone. The menu is pretty good too!
B. O.
It's an independent pub chain and we should support it. Worth while a visit . If you're in the area check it out .! 😁😁🍻🍺
G. M.
Was in for a mate's birthday. Great selection of beers, good atmosphere, and some solid tunes being spun by a local DJ who had once upon a time kicked Peter Andre's Flava (this story might be false but a local told it to me as if it were true).
T. N.
Legen... Dary place. Vegan ;) Food is awesome (beefless burger!) huge range of craft beers lovley stuff and rally nice design of inside. Here is even yoga lessons on monday and friday. Highly recomend. By tube from cc is only ~20min. Also pet friendly :)
C. I.
It's one big room with no separate eating area. The vegan pumpkin dish had no flavour but the dirty fries were packed with flavour and the serving was huge.
B. D.
A nice pub, but the food is incredibly poor value for money.
J. P.
Booked the upstairs room but they'd double-booked part of the time which was wasn't good. Five stars if it wasn't for that as it's a really nice place, good food and drink, ping pong table. Trendy
N. H.
Great bar/pub, very friendly staff and nice burgers. I liked the vibe and would definitely go back.
G. W.
First time at The Birds. I went for the Life Drawing event but was so hungry and they had a Caribbean food event. Loved it. Highly recommended. Friendly bar staff too. Will be back
S. M.
The Sheep Walk had a lot of history. The old A12 was the shepherd's way out of the City of London and many pubs got their names from that tradition. I would not want to see that forgotten. However, The Birds is making an effort to remember Leytonstone's most famous citizen and I believe put on a range of different nights that reach out to the eclectic mix of London residents near and far, both old and new. Beer is good, costs a little more than perhaps it did before, but they take good care of it.
N. P.
Excellent beers and general drinks selection, top vegan and vegetarian food and an awesome dj. Had a great night, will be back!
Z. D.
Lovely place, going there time to time. Stuff is very friendly, food is good. And most important interior design always shouting come back!
M. M.
Nice staff and atmosphere. Agfordable and quiet so you can have a conversation with your friends. A limonade and fries for 4.5 gbp. Great place!
M. B.
It has more vegan options than non-vegan: THAT’S amazing (and they’re delicious and they’re 50% off from Monday to Wednesday). Super friendly staff!!
D. E.
Great looking bar, £10 deposit and you get to play mortal kombat in a seg mega drive lol. Nice little beer garden as well.
C. B.
Love this place. Very social. Nice atmosphere, cleverly decorated. Welcoming staff who know the price of Campari! Will always use this as meeting place when visiting area.
H.
Edgy, fun, good selection. Look at app Drinki they will get you a free vodka Red Bull. I liked it there but the toilets are too small nearly smashed someone opening the door
G. V.
Great facilities, very friendly staff, very nice experience but with two flaws; very limited drink choices which are too expensive.
a. w.
Not a traditional pub but a good local venue. A great place to meet people and to find out what is happening locally. A tad expensive hence my reduction of one star.
M. H.
Clunky sign-in and an app that wouldn't work as it told me my email was 'not valid'.
Staff came to the rescue which demonstrated the irrelevance of the app and was much quicker.
Shant bother again 'til after lockdown.....
J. A.
If you like your pubs to have board games, ping pong table instead of the normal pool (billiards) set in a pleasant non aggressive young atmosphere then this is definitely the place for you.
D. V.
Nice pub, great decore
B. B.
Vegan food was amazing, staff were friendly and the ambience is nice
V. L.
Nice rustical pub and hostel in East London, one Metro station from Stratford. Affordable pricing of dorms, clean and breakfast included.
O. W.
Excellent pub, with good veggie and vegan menu. Burgers are amazing. Great beer choice too.
J. L.
This place has a nice atmosphere, great smoking area and some chilled inside spots where you can play games. Downside is expensive drinks and there was a few kids on Wednesdays
S. S.
It is a nice family atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful. We went to a child birthday party upstairs and it was brilliant.
R. p.
We did the Saturday brunch, bottomless preseco and bloody Mary+ breakfast stuff...
Sent on our merry way at 3pm.
Great start to my birthday!
D. B.
Quirky style, very east London. And a great selection of beers. Especially looking forward to trying the bottomless brunch they do!
K. D.
Fabulous vegan food, friendly staff and retro arcade games... need to repair funiture and expand the soft drinks range tho.
R. T.
Great pub - great atmosphere, great food, excellent staff, fab garden. Couldn't ask for anything more.
A. M.
Great little pub with friendly staff and interesting selection of locally brewed beers
j.
still thinking about that salad tbh.. and i loved the fairy lights
C. H.
Newly refurbished traditional pub and under new name in a heart of Leytonstone conservation period area. Possibly named after a movie The Birds by Sir Alfred Hichcock. Looks good. Nice garden. Outdoor food and drinks.
From their website they do bingo evenings and music events, etc.
For locals, groups, tourists, etc. Apparently there are Hichcock historic walks in the area and I wonder if their organisatiors would include this Victorian style traditional British venue, ie Alfred possibly visited this old pub as he lived 10 minutes walk from it. As he wrote in his diaries about his visits to local area.
Great location on 692, High Road Leytonstone, E11, just 5 minutes walk from Leytonstone station.
H. L.
Good selection of beers, nice atmosphere and a really fun quiz. However it's really let down by the food.
P. R.
Brilliant craft beer pub with 3 real ales hand pumps. Friendly staff. Recommended
R. C.
Nice, solid. Bit too much seitan for vegan options, would be nice to have another option, something less dense like tofu or tempeh.
B. B.
A true boozer for the community, with a fantastic ever changing beer range and great food catering for everybody - even with it's heavy vegan sway.
A. M.
Great atmosphere but if you’re a wine drinker on the expensive side.
They do some amazing live music 🎶
P. H.
Great beer selection. Friendly staff.

I wandered on here on a week night and a quiz was in progress, the Quizmaster was in fact a charming Quizmistress, everyone had a jolly old time, there was crafting involved, which was nice.
A. C.
Cool vibe and diverse menu with traditional faves. Would like more vegan and gluten-free options.

Not bad, only been here once so might have more to it then I saw...but the chicken wings were AMAZING.
M. l.
This is a pub, but they sell homemade vegan snickers.
If that doesnt doesn't make you sigh, you probably belong in there.
R. S.
Very nice family friendly pub where it's still possible to have a good conversation.
K. S.
Good quality beer, fun friendly staff. Had a great night.
O. M.
Really interesting vegan menu coupled with some very nice craft beers and cracking tunes playing in the background.
L. P.
I love most of the staff but the assistant manager is an aggressive angry non people person. Too bad the rest of the staff has to work extra hard for his lack of people skills 😥
D. S.
Pretty nice pub and friendly. Service tiny bit slow, but it was a quiet night
W. F.
Good beer, friendly staff, decent food and fun atmosphere
