A pleasant modern airy take on the "pub". A fine selection of beers and wines on offer. Lovely, friendly service from the staff. Very convenient for Cannon Street station. A good place to drink

Nicely located pub, warm & cosy. Service was good. However, we were surprised that steaks are either medium or well-done, i.e you cannot have it rare/medium rare. As a result, the burger was okay but the steak was so chewy that it was inedible. To conclude, it’s a fine place if you’re really hungry and need a meal but if you’re looking for an incredible steak experience, better save your money for somewhere else. Edit: we told our waitress about the steak and she deducted 10% from the overall bill, which we appreciated.

Good modern style pub for after work drinks in the city, yet not overly filled with city sorts which is ultimately very nice. Open space around the bar, and helpful serving staff. Nice cordoned off areas for sitting and milling around and outdoor seats too. For the city, decent prices!

We had such an amazing evening here at The Candle Maker recently. It's an amazing place for a cocktail evening out and on top of that we had the pleasure of being served by Maria who made sure we are well looked after. She is very knowledgeable and took her time to recommend us delicious food and great drinks.

I went here to watch the 6 Nations Rugby with friends and had a great time. It is a modern pub but the atmosphere was good and the staff very helpful. Really enjoyed it.

We had our Christmas team lunch here, the food was average or in my colleague’s case included an undercooked chicken breast in his burger. Our waiter did not charge us for the burger but would have like to be compensated for the impending trouble of half eating a pink chicken breast! The waiters were great and attentive, I’d suggest coming here for (table service) drinks and snacks rather than a meal.

Great bar. I used to visit this place regularly re covid as a few of us worked around the corner. Good selection of drinks, food is pretty good too and drinks are London prices. There is a smoking section outside too along with a few tables. Watched the World Cup games back in 2018 and the atmosphere was really good and staff are really helpful.

A truly cavernous place offering many food and drink options. Directly opposite Cannon Street mainline station - unfortunately the street area is a maze of roadworks (for some considerable time now) - but don’t let that put you off. As you walk in, the first section feels like an upmarket coffee bar; the middle section like a hotel bar; and, the rear is a restaurant. I really enjoyed the feel of the bar section - a decent range of beers/lagers and a very attractive selection of spirits/wines. Light bites in this area are served from 3pm. Modern decor with an industrial-style ceiling. Open for two years now, I believe. A very good option in the area. PS. I forgot to mention the hard-working, friendly staff!

We stopped here for a drink before we attended a dinner. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing with nice staff. We sat by the window and found it great to watch the world go by. Only down side was the drinks price but it was London after all.

One of my favourite pubs on Cannon St. Love to sneak in, use one of the hidden booths to do some work, have a snack and use the app easily in peace and quiet. Lovely team members and everything is presented beautifully.

Beautiful, Rustic Pub Settings With A Vintage Feeling Dining Area. The Manager, Veronica, Was Friendly & Approachable And Handle Her Role, With Poise And Grace, Even Though She Was The Only Member Of Staff, At That Time. Lovely Place To Meet Friends And Work Colleagues, After Work And Can Hold Functions Such As Leaving Do's, Christmas Parties, Etc. And Menu Is Tasty And Reasonably Priced.

Recently popped in for a lunch meeting. I cannot thank the team enough. They went above and beyond to offer top notch service, a couple of our guests had a number of allergies and ordering appropriate choices was smooth, easy and the staff assisted throughout. Food was 5 star quality tasted perfect. Well worth the prices. Drinks were good too. Definitely recommend this pub, very atmospheric and comfortable.

Was looking for somewhere other than the usual coffee shop experience for an early morning coffee plus something to tempt me on the food front to kick the day off in style. Fell upon The Candlemaker and had a great breakfast. Nice interior, very good menu backed up with service to match. All round very good value for money. Will be coming back again very soon.

Updated to 5 stars... the staff were so welcoming (visited 23/06) they also offered us food and drinks for free that would have otherwise been wasted (a big thank you to the lady who looked after us). We were of course very grateful. Other plus points - it wasn't overcrowded, quick service and the air con was bliss during this scorching heat. It's also a pleasant place to be. We'll be back for sure

I booked a table for after work drinks with some friends and had an amazing time! The team were very attentive and looked after us the whole night. Claudio served our drinks all night and was absolutely outstanding! The bar snacks were delicious, especially the buttermilk chicken thighs! Overall fun night and definitely recommend this for a casual hangout!

This place can really surprise you. Beautifully decorated with a lot of little touches. I saw blonde manager doing some decorating i thought they had a company doing it. Amazing. Food is also great with brunch menu available at lunch. I usually have steak pie or bbq pulled pork bun, really yummy. Evening gets busy we can never get a seat here, must book. Prices are high but given where it is quite understandable.

Staff was amazing, they engaged in conversation super friendly and was willing to make sure everything was just right. Portion size was large and a little on the expensive size but it's impossible to leave hungry. Great atmosphere and comfortable seating. Perfect place for our full first meal in London. Even better on July 7th watching London play in the World Cup. Fun staff and great drinks, fun time for all!!!

I appreciated the bar reaching out to me for clarification and taking the time to communicate with me in the first place. This sets a high standard for the industry in my opinion, and I've updated my rating accordingly. Original review: Spacious place with friendly staff, however they played the music so loud that I couldn't carry a conversation anywhere other than outdoors, more or less ruining the evening for me.

Went pre-Christmas with 7 others. It was pretty busy, 30 minutes wait for food so we passed on that. Bar was well staffed albeit by at least one person who struggled to understand my London accent. But once she knew what she had been asked for off she went and did a great job. Worth a visit. Well placed for Cannon St station.

Good turnout and great atmosphere with themed canapés and cocktail samples/product info from the JD mixologist!! #everydaysaschoolday I didn’t eat but the pub appears separated for diners and drinkers so there is a choice regardless of what you are going for but great atmosphere throughout.

Not sure yet about this place. Been in a few times but always seems hard work when placing your drink order. Bar staff get very distracted and don't really make you feel welcome. Not totally given up on the place yet as it is very nice inside, just nowhere near the service standard of most youngs pubs.
