Reviews of The Flying Horse
D. T.
A delightful traditional London street corner pub with modern twists including multiple screens showing sports (cricket during my visit). A good choice of beers, both cask and keg along with a wide offering of wines and spirits. Rooms also available. Service was quick an efficient. The staff are lovely and happy. A short but most enjoyable visit.
J. R.
Loved this place!! Friendly and welcoming staff. Great beer and wonderful live music 🎶 🎵 Excellent atmosphere!! Definitely recommend a visit. I'm sure I'll pop in again.
S. A.
Friendly staff as well as clean toilets, what else!?
Started after hoopla, improv in the weekday evenings.
Selection of drinks and ales in a Old fashioned pub, area near moorgate station.
S. S.
Brilliant staff think the girl is called Ellie. Keep up the good work and thank you. Kind regards the happy geordie 👍
S. D.
A quick visit for refreshment during a busy day. The pub is quite small but it wasn't too crowded and there are plenty of tables to sit at. Inside decor is charming and there's a lovely feature fireplace.
S. “. L.
Perfectly decent middle of the road city pub. Beers were fine, staff were fine!. Any worse places to have a drink in the city. Same prices you'd expect in the area and enough space to drink outside given covid.
H.
Loved my stay there, was in the hostel aswell. Great food, good company and in total recommend anyone planning to stay there, pillows weren't big enough for my preference but everything else was pretty awesome.
R. P.
Very friendly staff and lots of beer options. One of the only pubs that's open all year (due to hostel upstairs).
Breakfast starts at 07:00 (for hostel guests), but also available for non-guests for £3.
C. M.
A proper old type pub. Which we went into for a couple of drinks. There was no bad feeling or what are you doing coming in here. People just came and went as they chose
A. M.
Great place for drinks after work as well as watching sports. Great pub food, we love the salami spicy pizza. Really nice and friendly staff. We also love the decoration for the Euros with the name of the main players all around. Will come back for sure!!!!
D. B.
Good small place. Very busy usually on a Friday evening. Friendly personel and reasonably priced.
G. P.
Love the place, was first day back in the office in nearly two years so we did team drinks and this worked out well. Good to see expanded food menu.
S. S.
Great pub. Atmosphere fantastic and lots of TVs for the football/sport of your choice.
T. W.
Friendly bar staff, very attentive! They gave us great tips for things to do in London. Big screens for watching sports.
E. C.
Lovely traditional pub in the heart of east london, good range of drinks and the staff are so friendly! Yummy stone baked pizza! 2 for 1 pizza and cocktails during the week, great value for money! Will definitely visit again!
S. G.
Spent new years eve in this pub,at a private party ,they only had 2 staff on , because of COVID ,but they managed brilliant.
E. R.
Situated central London for anyone who wants a base to then go on and explore London. Very friendly, helpful staff, and reasonably priced if your on a budget.
C. P.
Great pub ....love music Thursday night 👌
B. N.
Great place to have an after work pint. Have been frequenting this pub for 2 years and post covid its still as good as it was. I was served by both Ellie, and Martina, who were excellent and went above and beyond for me. Will be coming back as often as I am in the area.
E. P.
This is our local when we are around that area. Nice beers and atmosphere. Soon they'll have live music as well. Can't wait.....back to semi normality ahahahah
S. K.
Nice little pub. Only had one drink there on a Sunday afternoon.
J. R.
At least 2 screens visable from each table. Able to have multiple sports showing. Very good burgers served too. Great sports pub so will be watching big (and little) matches there again.
C. M.
First time ordering at the bar in 18 months! Fine selection, good spot for a few post work brews, nice to hear live music going again too.
K. K.
This is a wonderful pub ! Great beer, served by really friendly people. Tasty pub food cooked by Lucius, and you can even sleep here. In a location to explore Old London.
K. T.
Good beer live music Friday night good craic
E. P.
I really love this pub! There are tables outside and inside, a lovely staff and good selection of drinks and beer!! Try this place out and you wont be disappointed.
R. M.
Nice big corner pub on the border of the City. Can get vey full including the pavement outside.
J. T.
Four stars! Nice lively pub with with a finance crowd. Good ale selection and good service. When they rang the bell a small mouse came out to clean the floor.
I. K.
Nice place to stop for a drink. Tasty chicken burger, but the pizza could be better
L. a. s. B. a. a.
Amazing pub, awesome staff- great customer service always with a smile. Wide range of beers and the best food.
P. B.
Great pub a short walk from Liverpool Street Station. Old fashioned boozer rather than trendy. Good select of beers. It was not crowded when I was in between 6 o'clock and 8 o'clock on a Wednesday evening. I did not try the food.
S. D.
Looks like another old time London pub. Only really popped to use the toilet but I did have 1/2 pint
K. S. M.
Adams service was spot on.
Great guy, great boozer.
Will be back
E. S.
The photo is from my window in the hostel, I like the stay there very much, the staff was very nice, the bar is impressive, generally the place very welcoming.
V. S.
Absolutely in love with this traditional pub! You can't often see pubs like that anymore in London, so if you are looking for a REAL traditional pub definitely - this is the best spot. They have huge range of craft beers and wine selection better than some wine bars. Highly recommended.
J. E.
The dumbwaiter that delivers food from the upstairs kitchen is very cool.
M. J.
Fine for a quick pint after a meeting nearby, very reasonable prices for central London and reasonable selection of beers. We also had a pizza that was lovely. Not the biggest place, with limited tables and chairs, but I would go back if I found myself in the area again.
T.
Quiet little pub in the city. Small and comfortable interior. Typically old style pub indoors. It can get a little busy, it's popular amongst the workers in the are who want a quiet drink. You're able to spill onto the pavement.
This place does serve food, but did not look at the menu.
B. A. P. P.
Pretty decent pub. Decent selection of drinks. Friendly staff. Loses one star for the clientele on this particular night. Staff could've asked them to pipe down. But I guess they were having a good time and who are we to stop that. All in all recommended. It's also difficult to find a classic pub in the area. So yeah...thumbs up.
S. I.
Friendly staff and fair prices for Central London
F. P.
Food was very good and cocktails we very tasty too.good snack out but expensive paid 45 pounds of 4 items.
k. f.
Really nice pub, prices are okay. They let you stand and drink outside until they close which is quite nice. Staff are friendly and quick, usually show sports on tv inside which is cool. Toilets are usually very clean. Can definitely recommend this place for a pint after work.
M. A.
Great pub that is shared with the city workers and the people staying in the hostel above it. I am a city worker and like the diverse crowd the place attracts although some nights it is just full of suited and booted city folk. The sports is always on and we joke about this place being 'pub of the year'. I think it's a strong contender!
S. A.
Decent pub. Good selection of drink at fairly standard central london prices. ideal place to watch sport close to Liverpool Street Station as they have 6 screens around the pub.
R. T.
The quality of the service here has gone down since reopening. I think this is due to the new staff are less caring than the previous staff. That's my opinion. Hopefully it will improve.
G. M. I.
Good pub in the city. Good customer service, nice atmosphere. Went out on a Friday evening after work, it can be a bit crowded at that time, but that's typical of central London pubs. Nice thing is they have outdoor small patio heaters. Make sure you press the button to keep it going when is cold in the evening.
T. S.
The Flying Horse is as close as you can get these days to a "traditional" English country pub. The beer is good, the views over the Cricket ground opposite are great and the food is good value too. They even have a roaring fire in the winter.
The only downside is the quantity and unnecessary speed of the traffic that passes the pub out front; this is not ideal for those sitting there.
R. K.
Very solid traditional boozer with a good range of ales. Pizzas looked and smelled really good too and full sports screens. Limited seating and it gets busy though.
J. B.
An odd little place for the City. It feels like it lost its way one day and went a little too far south, is surrounded by far trendier pubs and can't find its way home. A perfect place for an elderly & just a little old fashioned drinker. Which suits me fine, 'cos I am both of those.
R. T.
Not bad but food could be better
I. C.
Interesting reviews... sign of a good pub is the number of customers. Despite it being busy you will always get served quickly due to the efficiency of the manager and his staff. Even if they are rushed off their feet there's always a smile waiting for you.
G. P.
Decent pub and they always have always got an ale on for £3. Not bad food either, the sharing platter is decent. Can get busy though, as you'd expect from a city pub
D. C.
Fantastic, traditional pub. Always busy, but not uncomfortably so, because it's so well thought of. Unlike every other pub in the area, always well staffed, with good bar tenders, so quick and easy to get served.
J. R.
Very busy even on a Tuesday, so on the plus side it's lively, but on the other hand not great for conversation. Unfortunately there's a TV every way you turn too which is rather distracting since it can kind of suck people in and kill the atmosphere. I'd imagine that if you want to go to the pub to watch football then that could work for you, but I'd be after a more sociable atmosphere and a better beer selection.
G. B.
Great staff offering a fine and varied selection of beers and ales.
M. C.
Friendly intimate little pub in the heart of the city that does ale for £3 a pint. That's £3 A PINT! Good selection too. Sport shown on the TV but not oppressively, so it never takes over. A favourite weekday haunt
P. C.
Bustling traditional pub on the boundary of the City and Shoreditch. Good beer selection.
M. J.
Traditional pub with low prices - always busy and fun. Great outdoor drinking spot when the weather is good. Also has a few hostel rooms to rent. Guaranteed to see vk there
D. F.
Great food friendly staff
P. B. (.
Out of the ordinary city pub. Despite attracting a predominantly suited crowd, they still cater for all with a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and a music selection from the 80s and 90s. The pizzas are good too, if the only thing on the menu for food, though at a tenner each, they should be really! Big enough to share at least.
R. B.
Live band music. No dart board.
C. M.
Perfect place to stand outside in the afternoon sun and enjoy a pint
T. S.
Large, open bar where you can drink in the street outside. Good selection of beers and ales on tap and bottled. Gets quite busy on a Friday night, when it can get quite loud with some people having had a few too many!
T. B.
Fantastc selection of unusual beers all in very good condition. very rare beers from USA micro breweries, prices are confusing though, on my visit I was charged £3.20 and then £3.80 for a pint of coke, it seems that it depends on who serves you as to the price you are charged. overall a good pub with average beer prices for the area, they must keep their beer prices down by adding beer duty to the soft drinks as they are about the same price as the beer.
D. C.
Sticky floored dive of a pub. Full of office workers standing in the street. Usually rammed. Can take a long while to get served, but that is just due to amount of customers, bar staff are really good and get through crowds quickly.
E. D.
Only popped in for one pint, can't really say much except it appears to be a good old fashioned local boozer set in the city centre. Nice Guinness!!
S. B.
Decent little pub with excellent bar stuff. Gets busy during lunch hour on weekdays but never an issue getting a drink.
M. P.
Nice place, great pint of beer, service very good considering it was a busy Friday lunchtime. I'd visit again if I was in the area (and maybe this could be a 5 stars? ☺️)
M. R.
A proper boozer compete with fruit machine, dart boards and regulars' photographs behind the bar. It has a pretty good selection of beers and reasonable prices. No pretentions to be a swanky bar or gastropub.
S. B.
Surprisingly light and spacious at the back. Well-kept beer but the range suffers from the generic NIcholson's issue of offering nothing darker than Doom Bar.
A.
Met with some buddies for a footy night. Cracking atmosphere and decent food, particularly the mini pork pies. Lovely drop of Neck oil on tap as well.
M. E.
Great pub, friendly staff, great beer selection, not expensive, not pretentious, good atmosphere on a sunny day after work with everyone standing on the corner outside! Perfect!
R. W.
Lovely pub, friendly staff and good beer. Can be busy at peak times so clearly very popular with the locales who work in the area
J. S.
Great atmosphere, good choice of beer (traditional and craft) and cheap food. One of the few traditional pubs left in the city.
İ. K. D.
Such a traditional english pub with huge selection of cask ales, lively with sports every day delicious food and amazing atmosphere for live music every Friday.
D. T.
The flying red dragon horse.. can't go wrong mate, proper London corner pub. Handy after work, even has a pint of the day for 3 smackers. Sorted.
W. F.
Nice atmosphere and great beer. Lots of screens dotted around means it's good for sports. Atmosphere improved when live sports are playing.
T. K.
As others have noted, good selection of beers. I only had snacks, but i like the sound of the pizza. Very friendly and helpful staff.
E. C.
Very beautiful place I would very much recommend. I enjoyed my time there. Vibe was really really really good. Weather was amazing, people are very nice, friendly, welcoming and fun. I enjoyed my time there. Its honestly fun.
T. A.
Nice pub good atmosphere
D. S.
Nice pub in an area with quite a few terrible ones. Good beer and ale selection, good service and reasonably priced for the area it's in.
J. H.
Decent pub on Shoreditch/city borders. Not Shoreditch hip or city slick which is refreshing round these parts. Reasonable drink prices.
P. R.
The place might have a funny name and logo (you'd think it's an energy drink brand looking at the logo) but the kebab and sheesh are definitely the top contenders in Bethnal Green.
R. B.
A good traditional City pub but the beers are not as good as I like them to be. Great atmosphere and bar staff.
R. W.
This was an incredibly busy pub due to the fact we went during the lunch hour it was extremely difficult to find seats especially for a disabled person but the beers were not as expensive as most places in London and the food was adequate for a Witherspoons they're not the highest quality edibles but they hit the spot when hungry and being pressed for time I would recommend coming here only because it is cheap one beer and maybe come at a different time of day the lunch hour was ridiculous
S. B.
Great drink selection good prices every mon there is a changing £3 pint (real ale) so makes for a good spot after work on mon to relax
F. P.
Nice little pub tucked away in a good central location to quench ones thirst. Beautiful sophisticated ladies and shows the football, rarely do the two come together!
O. W.
Great service, nice separate room for private hire with its own little bar. Quite cramped though, don't come with too big a group!
T. P.
Nice local pub with some good beers and friendly bar staff. There is an upstairs bar with a dart board and 2 tv screens which can be hired.
A. V.
Decent pub, pretty busy pretty much all of the time. Good atmosphere.
E.
You’re not fooling anyone, we know that’s Chicago Town Pizzas you’re re-selling there for £12. Now now... other than that, sweet gaff for watching the footy.
唐.
Nice beer, great smelling pizza
L. J.
Good for a quick drink. It's quiet on the weekend. Toilets have been refitted recently so much better than before
S. M.
Went there to watch the Netherlands v Germany game. Not a commercial match, the atmosphere was superb. Pub done it's duty
R. H.
Good ambiance even with the football on (Chelsea beat Liverpool in the FA cup). Could still talk and the ales were good.
G. A.
Great for watching sports and good draught beers..
L. T.
Nice to find a traditional pub in the city, no fancy stuff just good quality beer, and no overbearing music so you can shoot the breeze with colleagues after work.
P. M.
Popular boozer as many local companies use it as an impromptu meeting room. Often spills over into the street in a good-natured scrum. AS to food: pizzas are available.
s. r.
Authentic old mans pub..staff are polite...always super busy..5 mins from the office..can't fault it for a quick beer
M. N.
Few class deals here on beers from large to small. Two Australian girls who work there will agressively challenge you to drinking games and most likely beat you whilst vehemently abusing you so watch out
E. N.
Good service, friendly staff. Very often it’s quite crowded, but after few beers you don’t notice the crowd😅
M. d. P.
Cheap and cheerful good and drink prices. A good range of beers and a diverse crowd for a City pub.
K. C.
Decent beer selection, great staff. Good place to go watch sports in an area that is usually pretty difficult for it
A. B.
Best pub in The City. Quality food & choice of beer, great friendly staff and quick efficient service.
M. M.
It's an average pub on the border between the City and Islington, Beer is fine, it's just a bit crowded.
V. B.
Beer was good. Darts wasn't very good but was fun. We all got drunk and loud. Decent stuff.
I. C.
Nice pub
D. B.
Quiet on weekend and busy during the week due to the cheap ales. Great for a post work drink.
S. J.

(Translated) A typical British pub that is run down easily. In front of it there are guests drinking beer and smoking. It is loud inside and sports are on. There is a large selection of drinks at the bar. The staff is neither particularly nice nor grumpy, they do their job.
I can't say anything about the food or the toilets.
(Original)
