Recently had lunch here and it's just the same as it was when I lived in the area some 15 years ago, which is to say it's great! Such a lovely pub off the main road. Great food and beer selection, convenient parking in front of the pub towards Balham (metered) or behind (possibly free if you can find a space).

Great pub with very friendly staff and good food - the chicken pie is superb and the quality of the starters was surprisingly high. Felt as though the staff went out of their way to help - would very much recommend.

Incredible service, went in on saturday evening. No tables but sat outside under the heater which staff gave us hot water bottles to stay warm and comfortable. As soon as a table became available, staff came out and got us. Plant burger was amazing and will definitely be back. Thank you for an amazing evening.

This pub is our local and we love it. We regularly come in for dinner and it’s just such a nice atmosphere. The staff are so lovely and treat us like locals now which we love too. The food is excellent, drinks great, staff fantastic. It’s a gem of a pub.

One of the best roasts we’ve ever had in a lovely British pub. The food was beautifully presented, delicious and a great range of options that caters for vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Wonderful vibe and great decor. Will definitely recommend!

Great pigs in blankets, which we took as starters with our drinks, followed by either roast chicken or sausages and mash, all of which we enjoyed. The sausages did have the odd gristly bit but this wasn't enough to spoil our lunch and the mash was excellent. Puddings were good too, although I would have preferred the crumble to have been hot not lukewarm. It's not a criticism of the venue, but strangely in Balham of all places, my mixed race family became an object of curiosity to some middle aged bloke dressed in his green quilted gilet and Jaeger scarf. I think we are a rarity in this pub.

Great corner bar in the back streets of Balham. Deceptively large, with a big dining area towards the back, it still remains a cosy, welcoming pub. Plenty of big leather armchairs and sofas to choose from, and thankfully no tvs to spoil the relaxed atmosphere. Back after a few months and still love it. Making it my pub of choice to meet people from Clapham. Guinness very good, staff great

Simply one of the best pubs to go to. Whether you want a roast, small plates or mains. The food is beautiful. Pints also have that lovely fresh taste. Cannot wait to see what the quiz is like but I know it’ll be great.

Great staff and venue but very overpriced, not good value for money. Nearly £7 for a pint of beer and the portions are really small. BBQ Pork ribs was just 4 ribs and not sure they should be served on spring greens. Doesn't really go. I was expecting a full rack at that price.

We had a birthday party for my wife here - it was superb. The staff were super helpful on the night and in advance. The atmosphere and setting was great. The food and drink were fab too. A great time was had by all - easy to recommend.

This is our local and we can't recommend it enough! The staff were so engaged and friendly - Andy, the manager, is wonderful and always makes us feel welcome. The food is delicious, particularly the Sunday Roast, and there is a great selection of drinks. If you are a whiskey or gin fan they have an amazing array to choose from!

Great pub with amazing staff! We love visiting The Grove either for a few drinks or something to eat. Both food and drinks are always great. It has a nice, relaxed atmosphere and the staff always go above and beyond to make sure we enjoy our time there. They also give our dog lots of fuss (and treats!). Shout out to Debbie who recently sorted out my booking error on a busy Friday night and still managed to fit us in - even though it wasn't easy for them. Thank you! And thank you to Izzy for being super lovely and becoming our dogs new best friend. Can't recommend this place enough!

The new chef made the perfect roast for me and my girlfriend. Always nice to know a good roast in this area. A must. Very chilled atmosphere and had a lovely conversation with andy the general manager introducing the new meatless menu on mondays and vegan junk food. Will definitely make it our regular!

Fabulous Christmas Day lunch, food exceptional and plentiful, one small criticism, not too sure about the nut roast and accompanying sauce, tasted too much of Tabasco and a tad too hot for a seasonal roast. Apart from that a great atmosphere and a great afternoon. Highly recommend it.

Really dog friendly pub, we called ahead and they arranged a lovely table for the four of us and a our very large puppy. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a good range of beers on tap, wine and gins. They even had a hot gin and tonic over winter. The food is tasty and I definitely want to come here for a roast dinner!

Roast was one of the worst our table collectively had in ages. They need to change their meat supplier as it was mainly the roast beef that let the dish down. Really poor quality, chewy meat. We all left well over half out meat and no one asked us how the food was. Also wasn't asked how we wanted the beef cooked when we ordered. The venison pie had soggy pastry and was dripping in gravy.. which some people might not have wanted. Just a really bad meal that was hard to digest! The setting is nice, the pub quiz was good fun, the staff are pleasant, but it was hard to get their attention. Had to get up and go over to them a few times. Will go back for a drink... but not for roast beef!

Staff are amazing here. Karolina and Alex are the best (I've only met 3 staff members ) but I remember these two specifically because they left a really good impression on me with how polite and welcoming they were. Food was lovely (I always get burger and chips ) atmosphere is nice and it is quite spacious there. Would defo recommend this spot.

Large, pretty pub with an enjoyable atmosphere and decent food options. Became a regular here when I moved to the area and would definitely suggest it for those looking for a place to eat and drink. They also have a brilliant pub quiz on sunday evenings!

You could say it is a typical Youngs Pub, beautiful surroundings, good selection of beers and spirits. Just off the beaten track of the A24 in Balham. The food menu is sufficiently satisfying with a good range of options if you eat meat or fish in terms of main meals but if you're Vegan or Vegetarian then this is not the place for you. The ambience and layout is very welcoming, and the pub is clean and tidy. If you're looking for somewhere a little different to pubs on the High Road then The Grove is that venue.

I really enjoyed the food abd the atmosphere. The front portion feels like a relaxed pub with more rustic decorations. The portion further back becomes increasigly fancy and more like a restaurant. The food was really good! I went with several friends for a late lunch around 130pm, and the food was very slow. All the servers were lovely, but did a great job ignoring us when we were still waiting for food 30 minutes after ordering... Overall, a lovely location and experience!

First visit was a sunny Sunday afternoon. We ended up spending almost 6 hours! Few drinks outside in the sun then into the cosy inside where we had a delicious sharing camembert, then a nice Sunday roast, then had a brilliant time taking part in the quiz. Happy to have such a great place as our local!

Don't you miss the quiz night on Sunday at 8pm! Even though it is quite British based, it is an entertaining way to spend a couple of hours. The quiz is taken very seriously as much as the food (high quality kitchen, not a regular chain-pub) and beer (good selection of craft beers and ales). Being your own team mates and enjoy!

We went for a Sunday roast on a busy Sunday. While the roast was tasty and enjoyable there was one thing that annoyed me and maybe it was my miss understanding. I ordered the beef, which is more expensive and came with only one slice of beef, it was like a thin steak. While it was nice I felt underwhelmed when it arrived. Especially as the chicken roast was a huge portion and the pork was a very thick slice. So if you want a larger portion the Chicken and Pork are better value. Luckily I’d also order a side of pigs in blankets and that helped fill my hunger!

We weren’t planning to eat but, you know what they say about drinking on an empty stomach! But we’re glad we did. Balham's hidden secret so it seems. Why? It's off the main road and far enough from the station to avoid being overrun. That doesn't make it deserted and uncomfortable though - far from it, it's actually just right! Beautiful decor inside with a lovely area for food (which is great - get the roast) and a nice little bit outside when the sun is shining. Loses a star because the service can be a bit up and down compared to others in the area.
