Very small corner pub. Not as much of a locals pub as the pubs further up the road. Lovely friendly staff. Good Amstel lager and real cask beers. Grab a stool in the window and watch the traffic and people go by.

Passed here and the the Xmas decorations were perfection! Nipped in for a drink. Warm welcome, beautiful inside. The best pint I've had in a long time. What a we'll run establishment.

I popped in here for a quick drink with colleagues after a meeting nearby. A good pint of Abbot Ale for me, and thumbs up from colleagues on the Timothy Taylor's Landlord as well as the East Coast IPA. The staff were friendly, and the music a good mix of tunes. One to return to again!

This pub used to be my local when i worked within Holborn, since moving to another area of London i am still drawn back to the Old Red Lion. Bar staff always friendly and Nigel the landlord always remembers my drink and has time for a chat. Never had a bad Guinness, looks and tastes great with each pint. Highly recommend a visit, there are also good restaurants along red lion street.

A first visit to to this wonderful establishment, although I have passed on many an occasion, usually Sunday when it is closed... Such is life!. Delightful London Street corner pub with a vast array of beers ( both cask and keg) wines and spirits. Lovely welcoming staff to go with a good pint, what more could you ask? I enjoyed my pint here and will enjoy another soon. I recommend you do the same.

Nice quiet pub. It's an ye olde type pub design with a smallish upstairs section and tables outside. Nice place to go for a chilled after dinner drink and very near bus stops and Holborn Underground Station.

good big pub and it has a downstairs section too. large selection of drinks and they do good tasty food too. a note to say that if you are downstairs, the phone coverage is not the greatest so be sure to connect to the available wifi. the service was good and even though they get busy, the wait time to get a drink isn't that long at all. good meeting point too in central london

A good pub in very commercial Holbron. There’s an excellent selection of beers available. The Greene is a good place to drink a beer or two, but lacks craft beers and the food is slightly underwhelming to say the least. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Well kept ales. Pleasant staff. Designed to have most of its capacity for standing, so runs out of seats fairly quickly. Nothing new for a central London pub, as are its prices! (Time I went back to the shires!)

We held a film screening in the Cromwell Room upstairs for about fifty people in total, and thanks to the hard work and dedication of the pub’s staff it went off brilliantly. They went above and beyond in planning the event, meeting our technical requirements, and the service on the night itself was great. I have no hesitation in recommending this pub – both upstairs and down.

Great pub for a drink clean tidy and not too expensive for London Friendly staff and owner usually on duty Shame they don't do sandwiches or snacks like sausage rolls pork pies etc but apparently no demand which, as I say, is a shame but otherwise first class

Usually wonderful - but take care on a Sunday when they replace their usual menu with roast dinners. If you don't want those then the choice is poor; so if you're vegetarian you've got very slim selection indeed.

The three stars relate to the woeful lack of attention made to the historical significance of this pub. 1649, 51 signatures on the warrent that sealed the fate of King Charles I were later held into account during the Restoration of 1660. Only 11 Regicides were still alive, now liable to be hung, drawn and quartered as was the penalty for treason. The deceased Ireton, Cromwell and Bradshaw were exhumed and were given this same treatment. This pub was where the three dead bodies were given 'a rest' such was the mentality of those around at this time. There is nothing but the slender reference to this on the plaque outside. Three Regicides of note lay here and in an upstairs room. Not basement. This pub need go visit The Viaduct Tavern in Holborn for lessons as to how to treat the link between pub and history. The pub was empty during a hot summer crammed with tourists eager for authentic experience. Please. No manager to reply....thanks.
