Reviews of The Paternoster
C. G.
Great pub to visit for a drink in the city with absolutely amazing customer service.
Came in here for a quick drink in the afternoon, was very quiet but the staff were very attentive and helpful. Far better service you would receive nearby in the city at some places.
Drinks were made fast and to high calibar, cannot complain. Bathrooms were great too.
Definitely come done for a visit, food looked good too.
If you liked my review feel free to give it a 👍 and follow me on Google Maps for more reviews

Stopped by for a breakfast mid week, nice clean tables and an airy dining area with plenty of natural light. The staff were great and the food was lovely and tasty, the only reason it missed out on the 5th star was the food was served on a cool plate which made the food cold too quickly. Decent coffees too.
D. W.
Nice bar in the city of london(St pauls) with a good selection of drinks/food. Friendly staff.
L. M.
Great service is what is typical here. Have been there 3 times in a row. Few but good vegetarian choices.

Been here many times. Obviously it can get busy as it's right in the middle of the city but it's a great place. Good service and nice food

Good and quick service. They have the usual lagers and ales. I wouldn't come back for food, unless you want the burger, pie and fish and chips was a stale.
O. S.
A nice bar located in Paternoster Square popular with City workers
A good range of Ales on offer.
S. E. A. S. M.
Beautiful place, and good selection of beers

Located right around the corner from St. Paul's Cathedral! We went here for breakfast on a whim. The food was worth it! I had a full English breakfast and the price was reasonable. Great atmosphere. Not very busy either, but it was fairly early in the morning so that made sense. Would go back.
C. C.
Very quiet. Polite, attentive staff. Youngs bitter in very good condition. Nice to sit and enjoy a beer 😊

Not great, not bad! Good place for after work drinks
P. W.
Good service with great views of St Paul's 😊
D. C.
Lovely pub great service friendly staff.
N. J.
Really enjoyed having a drink and enjoying the football here. Speedy service and great location.
V. L.
Great pub very friendly
V. L.
Great pub very friendly
F. B.
A great pub experience overall. On the upside: excellent pub food, good quality and large servings. On the downside: long waiting at each stage of the service, which was somewhat messy. One can observe that some waiting staff significantly lack experience.
J. M.
I came to the Paternoster for a business dinner and was amazed not only by the delicious food and quick service but by the impeccably polite staff, who looked after us very well. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially if you are looking for a traditional pub. I personally will now hold all my dinners there.
J. M.
One of the best English breakfasts I've ever had full stop.
No cheap ingredients, smoked bacon, quality crusty bread, good tea great sausages, even home made baked beans. Brilliant I will be back.
g. c.
Very close to the st Paul Cathedral, I appreciated a very good fish and chips + @guinnes lunch
R. C.
Great spot. Large enough to fit large groups. Every night we came it was busy. Super central location near St Paul’s. Good selection of food and drinks. Super friendly bartenders. Definitely recommend!
G. S.
Nice pub with a warm atmosphere and good food.
T. W.
Friendly service, good beers and lovely backdrop of St Paul's if you're sitting outside!
I. P.
Decent beer and normal city prices. Can get very busy after work and doesn't take long to get 5 deep at the bar.
Could do with more staff on at these busy times.
R. S.
Great little pub in central London which is conveniently open on the weekends. The food is good and the staff were lovely. We made a group booking and they were super accommodating. Will definitely be back!
P. E.
A pub to relax and have a cold beer discussing with your friends. It's next to St Paul's cathedral.
P. C.
Very obliging staff, Young's Special beer Great
N. J.
Really enjoyed having a drink and enjoying the football here. Speedy service and great location.
D. C.
Been here a couple of times. First time with friends on a Saturday evening for drinks and snacks, second time late afternoon for coffee. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and mixed clientele. Would recommend.
R. B.
They don't know how to bake a camembert! As a French I feel offended. It needs to be entirely melted inside!
They don't either bother to ask if you want your Gin & Tonic single or double.
So, quite disappointing.
Other than that the atmosphere is good.
M. H.
The food was very nice, would definitely go back for that alone. That said, given the recent covid restrictions, we found the staff to be extremely helpful, attentive and friendly. Excellent customer service, thank you!
J. B.
Nice bar.
Alot of space.
R. F.
Decent pub. Nice location for a pint after visiting the cathedral. Good range of hand pull beers. Plenty of space and outside seating. Service prompt and friendly.
C.
A group of us went here for lunch a while ago, we knew the food and drink would be expensive here due to the location however we were quite surprised when we looked at the menu.
I ordered a steak for around £30, chips and peppercorn sause were extra. I go a surprise when I saw the receipt and clocked the sauce at just over £3. For the price of it, the steak was ok but not great.
The cost of a pint wasn't much different than other pubs in London. I'd recommend this place for a drink but I'm sure you can get better food at a cheaper price elsewhere.
S. S.
Decent bar, really reasonable price for a pint considering you're in St Paul's. The after work crowd are a good laugh. It's got just the right kind of vibe if you're going for drinks with colleagues or your boss. Personally I find it lacks a bit of character though, especially as you're just around the corner from so many beautiful old pubs.
S. W.
Watched the England v Germany (Euro 2020) game there Great setup, great staff and atmosphere.
W. M.
Busy at lunchtime but quick service and friendly staff. Food arrived quickly. Food is delicious also even if a little bit odd for some dishes. Good location too.
B. F.
The staff are lovely , the drinks are okay , but extremely expensive
f. b.
Thank you for an amazing time with the love of my life
S. G.
Nice pub great wine
N. W.
It can get ludicrously busy in here but for my money it's one of the better pubs round that way. There's usually a couple of decent cask ales on and a few decent kegs on so it has your beer covered.
V. S.
Great pub as usual. It is less noisy than the others in the square. They have two separate spaces where you can reserve for your event. The finger food is about okay.
P. W.
Good service with great views of St Paul's 😊
J. T.
After noticing The Paternoster's very generous offer of a free round of Guinness when you booked an area, I reserved a space for myself and a large group of friends for the England v France game at the beginning of the Six Nations.
Firstly, the service was absolutely excellent. The team made us feel incredibly welcome, were very attentive and most of all, very friendly. The food was absolutely superb as well with every member of the group commenting on it!
In fact, we had such a great time we went back again for the England v Wales game and, yet again, had a fantastic time due to the great work of the staff and the fantastic food.
The proximity to St. Pauls made it a very easy place to find and an excellent meeting point for a large group of people.
It is now my go-to pub in the city and I would strongly advise others to try it!
A. J.
Went here on Monday after work. It was not too busy (I guess it is much busier towards the end of the week). The food was nice and they have a nice selection of beer on tap
N. T.
Decent after work pub, good buzz, lots of seating. Good range of beers. Food was a bit steep even for central London (£10 for a plate of chips!)
L. K.
Decent pub food, staff are attentive but the deliver and execution of the pub food can lack finesse. Can do better! Bar has a pleasant atmosphere and interior is pleasant.
t. e.
Good pub , majorly touristy though. The prices here are sky high and there seems like there is never enough bar staff to cope with demand. Its the closest pub to work so ive been here a fair few times. If you are not a tourist and you want to drink in proper english pubs, then head down to ludgate hill and turn down the side streets to go to some real deal , value for money english boozers !
G. C.
Best pub for some lunch in the area. I think that the food was the place's strongest side - it was big in portions and delicious. Also, friendly service and fine dining ambiance complete the mix accordingly.
D. C.
Limited beers (1 larger, 1 ale), but not too crowded for the area..... Yes sorry review for different place :').... The Paternoster is a decent Young's boozer with good choice of beers.
C. P.
I heard this place had the best bartender in the city, so I came down to see if it was true. I've now met Margarita and can confirm how lovely she is. Will definitely come again.
R. R.
Decent pub and they've done a nice job of making a new building feel warm and cosy. However, the prices are extortionate even for central London, and it faces stiff competition from the scores of beautiful, historic pubs in the area.
J. P.
The place is still nice but menu change I really miss the chorizo scotch egg and other food. I hope the full menu will be back soon
E. B.
A nice pub, a little on the pricey side. Good gor watching sports. We often book out a large section as a big group and they are always very accommodating.
T. M.
Cosy Hideaway in the middle of the city, walking distance from St Paul's cathedral (maybe 200 steps away). Friendly staff, nice food, nice coffee, and always a nice place to relax.
B. P.
Good place for work drinks (and food)
M. H.
The best pub called Paternoster in Paternoster Square. It is without a doubt, and will be for a now. Try the rooms, and walk on the floor. The doors go inwards AND outwards, so it's great for comes and goes. There are nice-to-haves available on tap.
D. K.
Following an intensive start to a long day trip to London, we come across this lovely little pub. Spacious and a comfortable atmosphere a perfect stop for our lunch. There were 2 adults and a child in our party and even though there was no childrens menu as per normal the staff were happy to accommodate a smaller meal for the little one. I proceed to order a nice and simple steak and chips while my sister has a chicken dish. Food arrived well presented and looks very appetising.
My 5 year old niece tucked into a lovely sausage and mash dinner while my sister dug around the chicken skin to eat the chicken, she doesn't like skin but still enjoyed the meal.
Onto my meal, I tuck into the chips and they seem to have been stood and re-heated and the steak was tough as old boots, I couldn't cut the steak with a knife let alone chew it. The chips were at least edible and I ate them but had to leave the steak. I would have probable enjoyed a mcdonalds more even though I do not rate their meals as any good. Waitress came to take our plates away and I do the typical British thing and not complain, not that I would in front of kids, but the waitress persisted and I make a passing comment on the steak and without hesitation the waitress immediately removes the meal from our bill. I have since been reliably informed that it is hard to find a decent steak in London and will certainly do my research next time.
If the waitress did not remove the steak this would have left a sour taste and a 1 star review, but since the staff are excellent and it was only my meal with the issues hence the 3 star review. Would I have another meal here? Yes but I would order the sausage and mash!
F. L.
Brilliant pub. Great selection of drinks, comfortable, and right next to St Paul's tube but drinks on the steeper end. Excellent location for after work drinks if you work nearby.
C. W.
Fairly bland exterior in commercial block hides a large and spacious interior with various levels, alcoves. Quite a few large tables for big groups of people. Friendly, welcoming bar staff offering table service. Usual selection of Fuller's draught and mainstream beers.
A. S.
Come here every December to meet with friends. Food is always great, drinks are awesome and atmosphere is relaxed.
High chairs are available and they now do a kids menu!
K. E.
Friendly staff, reasonable prices
J. R.
Pretty good bar. Meals are tasty, if a bit overpriced. To be expected in this location.
Some really good ales on hand pump. Table service is good.
B. S.
A really nice spot. Not too busy. Always enjoy coming here for a quiet drink.
L. D.
Saturday lunch time. Nice atmosphere. All of our meals were good. Fish Finger get Sandwich was beautiful. Service was polite and friendly.
s. p.
This pub is not far from St Paul's Cathedral London. After a family christening in St Paul's we went here for a buffet and drinks. The staff were very helpful and poured us free glasses of proseco. I asked for a pint of Aspenals cider which at £5.35 a pint was very expensive but nice. Wouldn't go back for a night out due to prices but enjoyed afternoon there.
S. M.
Great place for a quick meeting. Booked a table a day earlier, and got it for a Friday team night out. Nice food and ale !
P.
Good choice of beers and wine with an ambient feel. Elevator music playing in the background. Loads of seating with tables and 4 outside tables to people watch and smoke (if ur a smoker). Its located just up a pedestrian walkway from st Paul's cathedral.
v. b.
Frequently visit this pub. The vibe is always lively. Staff are amazing! Cant fault the food. Comfy and cosy feel environment.
G. J.
Nice little pub, really friendly staff, great for a beer or two after work
J. A.
It's ok. On a Friday night really busy outside. Nobody inside. Had two cocktails which looked great but hardly any spirit in them. OK. Probably wouldn't ever bother to go back..
A. K. s.
Excellent atmosphere. Good prices. Nice food. Absolutely no complaints with anything. Well done!
I. R.
Good pub, local to office. London price beer but nice place to catch up with colleagues. Good selection of beer.
V. K.
Nice pub. If you want to enjoy a pint or glass of wine. Good selection of drinks. Kitchen closes at 8pm. Definitely can recomend.
J. D. D.
Was visiting someone in Barts. But went here with few family members. Great pub grub.lovely friendly young staff that couldnt do enogh. Well done. Be back Defo and tell friends.
N. O. C.
Great bar!! We got served by a girl from Canada, she was very nice to explain to us the huge range of beers they have!
K. T.
Great pub, reasonable prices for Central London.
A. P.
Best Young's pub in the city in my view. The fact that it's an oasis of civility at the weekend and bank holidays by being open for lunch and drinks is priceless!
A. B.
Very nice pub close to Saint Paul's. Gluten free beers and great level of service delivered by nice welcoming personnel. Thanks!
W. B.
Local pub on the Paternoster Square complex. Serving beers, lagers, wines and the odd cocktails. Good place to drop in at lunch or after work for a quick drink or two.
P. F.
Very busy (to be expected Thursday evening!) but good food and decent drinks- not too pricey for the location!
L. M.
Nice atmosphere but becomes very busy between 6 to 7. The choice of drinks and service are decent
P. M.
Nice place in a great area. The service Is not at the level One expect in this area. Very good the food!
A. M.
Cozy place.
Many friendly people from nearby offices.
Mostly, you want to come over for a 🍺 or 2. But food is offered as well.
I suggest take shared plates as they are many times bigger than regular ones.
S. F. S.
Used to love this pub as it's near to work and does Aspalls. Had to give up drinking due to alcoholism. So it's still a pub near my work that does Aspalls, but it's full of people like I used to be. Thank me later.
S. D.
Great to find a pub in the City of London open on Sunday. Barman clocked my Birthday balloon too and gave us a little discount
S. S.
Excellent food and service. Waitress was wonderful and made alterations due to my daughters fussy eating. Personalised dining experience.
I. A.
The food was amazing. Athmosphere was nice and cosy. Totally recomend the pulled pork pie and the mac and cheese croquetes.
N. A.
Handy pub if you work anywhere near St. Paul's. Can get a bit too busy sometimes, but what do you expect from a pub in such a central location in London?
N. H.
Nice centrally located pub with a good pub food menu. Well priced and tasty. I will certainly be back.
R. P.
Good bàr snacks and great beer ...
S. C. A.
Perfect for afternoon drinks. Good drinks and it does feel like a real pub even though it's in the City.
S. E.
Good place to prepare your meeting before meeting BT/EE comfy seats and discrete for business discussions + plugs near seats. That's offpeak hours obv.
A. K.
Excellent lunchtime service in a very busy environment! We only had a limited number of time and the service was excellent, efficient and friendly.
H. T.
Doesn't do anything brilliantly, and likewise doesn't do anything badly. Decent selection of beer, lots of seating. It's a pub is about all I have to say about it.
A. H.
Great place where we normally meet up before going to BT across the road. Very nice breakfast.
C. W.
Nice modern pub with good beer and food. Service is good. Cost is on the high side, but expected in London
C. H.
A regular spot for a nice coffee and plenty of seating with plugs nearby, if you're needing to work remotely.
A. S.
Has the traditional pub feel to it. A good range of beers and music played at a volume compatible with civil conversation.
N. W.
A nice place with a good selection of beers. The prices are what you'd expect for a bar in the city, i.e. not cheap, but no worse than anywhere else nearby.
D. X.
Nice pub near St Paul, good choice of beers, good venue for corporate event or just a drink with your fellow workers
D. J.
Lovely little quiet spot by St Paul's Cathedral. I liked the statue of the shepherd. Great spot on a sunny day. Some nice restaurants there too.
S. C.
Nice pub food and quick service.
M. B.
A usually quiet bar in a bustling part of the city. Decent range of beers and food, with good staff.
J. B.
Nice and quiet in the evening, good selection of beer / spirits. Reasonable prices for central London.
M. M.
Brilliant pub. Great selection of food and drinks, comfortable, and right next to St Paul's tube.
J. 1.
Good pub but generally I feel the service is generally a bit miserable..but still they are serving to London city workers so prob to be expected!
L. C.
Great food but took so long to come out as they are really busy at lunch. Other than that the service was great
J.
Just stopped here for lunch, food was great. Nice atmosphere and good service, would return if I'm in the area
C. S.
Reasonable selection of beers and convenient location, but soulless modern building and fake "traditional pub" interior. Decent, but nothing special.
M. W.
Lovely relaxed place, next to St Pauls. Gets busy with the City people from 4pm. Always good though.
S. S.
A great place for an afternoon cappuccino, or maybe something stronger. Friendly staff and good service.
B. W.
Good size wine bar. Four star as the whites could have been chilled better.
J. T.
Nice range of food
Good service and plenty of tables free until quite late on a Thursday night
C. P.
Extremely crowded after work but it had a good atmosphere, a pretty nice outdoor area looking onto the side of St Paul's and it was reasonably priced.
M. L.
Always seem to be able to find a seat at this pub. Though on the flipside a double G&T cost over £11!

Casual and relatively quiet.
R. H.
Nice atmosphere but very average food, especially considering the price you pay
S. M.
Service was a bit slow and food was I bit too oily. But still not a bad place and staff where friendly
t. r.
The Paternoster is part of the complex that was built about a decade ago, there has always been a pub on this site, it is a Youngs pub and beer and food prices are above average in the city of London
M. M. (.
Nice pub in a good location, slightly limited drink selection
T. R.
Good chain pub with OK choice of beers busy with professionals during the week.
J. M.
