Reviews of The Red Lion, Barnes
T. H.
brilliant selection of drinks and super friendly staff. beautiful venue too. highly recommended. worth checking special board as well.
S. D.
Good choice of draught beers, kind staff, nice atmosphere. On the pricey side. Just one plant-based main dish (the roasted cauliflower), refined and well-presented, but comparable to a side with regards to nutrition and size. It would have been nice if at least it came with some bread or a portion of fries.
M. J.
Nice venue but the lunch menu was fairly limited and not great value for money. The staff were good though and there was plenty of space available without booking a table.
There is a car park at the rear too. Register your car at the bar or you will get a ticket.
M. J.
Decent pub roast and good value for Barnes... Busy, but handy car park
g. b.
Great selection of drinks. They were super busy on Sunday, however customer service was exceptional. Lastly the food was great too. Thank you.
L. F.
I loved this pub.
It has a great vibe, trendy decoration, outstanding customer service and tasty food.
The cod with cauliflower mash and fried calamari and prawns was superb. The wine options are great. Portions are not big but reasonably priced and full of fresh flavours.
There is a beautiful garden to enjoy in summer or warmer days and plenty of parking ( inform the pub that you have parked to avoid a fine!)
A. A.
Excellent Sunday roast, great service from friendly staff, relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, thoroughly recommend.

Lovely Sunday lunch after reffing a game at Barn Elms...tasty meal..nice wine...doggy friendly aswell
G. H.
Really good Sunday roast. Lovely pub inside. Didn't go outside as cold evening but am told it's also good. Good place. Nice staff.
H. F.
Had a great time sitting outside having lunch, catered to my Coeliac (gluten intolerant) wife, and surprisingly good wine list. Big beer garden, nice location in Barnes, and the food was good and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be coming back!
A. M.
Excellent food just like home cook- special the roasted courgette and it is lovely over all - nice to see young and old setting together on one table again- some with muddy clothing after training and other with smart cloth but we all together.
J. D.
This pub presents very well however the service and the quality of the food is lacking, could be a great pub but instead it's average.
I've sent full feedback on the follow up feedback form.

Great atmosphere and lovely staff but the food has gone way down hill. The sunday roast we have had in the past there was amazing however three of us went last week on a Friday night as a xmas meet up and all three of were let down with our meal & then the cost on top for what we were given.
Burgers were small, bland and boring and the mac & cheese and salad was overpriced and not tasty at all. Ok I get it, how fancy can you make mac n cheese but it felt like I was eating mac n cheese from a "mix together packet " with a few mushrooms thrown in & breadcrumbs dumbed on top for something like £15 and very unusual very bitter salad which I had to side order for an extra £4-5.
We paid the bill reluctantly, feeling real disappointment, especially as that was our xmas night out as a siblings. I am not writing this from a malicious place more as maybe a nug to the owners to check in on food standards, as I mentioned in the past, I remember the food being really good. Not sure I would return for food now. Shame.

Used to be really good but recently I find that the staff has become a bit obnoxious whilst food isn't as good and prices are quite steep. Beware when parking here as you must register your vehicle otherwise you will get fined (bizarre way of dealing with customers). Beer garden is nice but I'd rather go to pubs further into Barnes or on riverside.
S. K.
Great pub, highly recommended! Frontier lager on tap, excellent wine list. There is a fab outdoor area with generous non smoking area which we much appreciated as non smokers. If it's also heated; useful for a slightly chilly June day!
The food is excellent, the chicken and leek pie was very generously portioned which sadly meant we had no room for the pina colada rice pudding 😔
The interior is lovely and would make for a pretty party background, or even a relaxed wedding reception. Staff polite and nice. Not to miss!
C. S.
Outside, but under a very substantial awning, with gas heaters.
Well looked after.
Excellent menu, which turned into some seriously good food. This was Devon crab on toast as a starter.
M. P.
Great place to eat and drink with family and/or friends. Good selection of food and drink on offer at sensible prices. Helpful and courteous staff.
L. S.
Nice pub, lovely location. We’ve been in The Red Lion few times and it’s always a pleasure going back.
J. T.
Best steak I've ever eaten. Sauce hits different. Friendly staff. Can't wait to go again!
D. B.
Friendly atmosphere, very convenient from the Wetland Centre. Menu is expensive but the Sandwich Menu is close to reasonable. Free soda water!
D. A.
Lovely food and surroundings, attentive and friendly staff, reasonable prices, what more can you ask for?
D. C.
Anther fantastic place to eat and drink.
Fantastic food to eat and very friendly staff.
10/10

A very welcoming high-end pub with a great atmosphere and very good food. Always a relaxed feel here, good comfortable seating, warming log fire and an excellent selection of beers and whiskies. A nice, newly renovated, outdoor area is also available with great open fire and snug drinking huts. Restaurant booking needs to be done before 4:15pm, otherwise you just have to come the same evening and chance that there's a table free! Dogs welcome all hours, children under 10, only up until 6pm - fair enough! If you like then please 👍.

So here l am.. Its my first visit of many in 2019. I look forward to more magical moments. Sitting having a cheeky G&t in the small room by the fire. Well done Red Lion 🦁 .. Keep up the fantastic work. Cheers 🥂
Great restaurant, bar, beer and good food on offer, a brilliant outdoor space caters to all, some shelter and some open space, they have struck a good balance.
Since writing the above l have returned, and had an amazing time celebrating a friends birthday. I met Craig Charles, amazing guy, that's because he invited me over as a local performance artist, honestly l wasn't sure who he was.
Anyway had an amazing evening, with friends, the lion has a great selection of food, wine, spirits and soft drinks.
It's important that we acknowledge some faults are actually caused by customers, re mens toilets, anyway thankfully they provided emergency loos.
The staff have a very high etiquette and standard, re.. Welcoming, supportive, and will deal with any issues customers raise, and are really friendly.
My recent visit.. I had the chicken and leek pie, it didn't dissapoint, being a pie addict. Tender chicken with a lovely sauce, served with a smile and a welcomed pot of Earl Grey tea.
Well done. Xx ♥

Watched a Cristmas Carol performed by Open Bar, the production and setting of the Red Lion was excellent. The pub tastefully decorated and a beautiful building.
D. P.
Friendly and efficient service, good food with generous portions, and lovely surroundings with plenty of space for outdoor seating. Will definitely be back!
S. P. (.
Very nice pub with plenty of outside space, a good selection of beer and food on offer all reasonably priced, the staff are friendly and welcoming and it's never a long wait even when its busy.
Well worth adding to your list of regular favourites
Y. G.
Great outdoor vibe, super quick and friendly service considering the place was busy. The inside area is lovely too. Great way to cap your day after spending the day at sports at the nearby Sports Centre. Definitely recommended. Now if only they served chunky chips I'd make it 5 stars. :p
(So there you go, dear owner!)
D. D.
Good pub food normally with a very nice atmosphere. It is notable for the efficient, friendly and relaxed service, especially in the dining room. Plenty of locals frequent the pub which I would say evidences its regard in the area.
C. F.
A good place to go at the moment as there is plenty of covered seating. There are several booths and a large tent. Nice informal atmosphere - though quite loud when we went (lots of people having fun). Service was a little slow as it was busy. Odd experience with one of my drinks - my London Pride tasted of ginger. Suspect slight mix up where it must have been topped up from a bottle of ginger beer also on the tray. Despite this would happily go again.
T. W.
Dropped in with my family without expecting much and left wishing I had a gastro pub as good as this near me in Teddington. lovely fresh ale and the poached egg on rarebit focaccia with beef brisket blew me away! Plus charming service to match. Recommended.
S.
They have really adapted well to the current out door restrictions. Service was quick and courteous. The tables were at a good distance from each other so we didn't feel crowded. Not sure what the food was like as we only stopped in for drinks.
M. I.
Overall good. Food is a bit expensive, but fair size portions.Nice selection of drinks. Free parking for customers, although you need to remember to register.
P. W.
Thoughtfully decorated interior conferring a degree of authenticity. Good range of Fullers beers. Didn't try the food but it looked appetising - a small range included curried chicken pie and sweet potato chips.
The Christmas Menu brochure was available and looked interesting
A. C.
Nice place. I've been there to have Sunday lunch. Unfortunately during my visit was football on telly. Normally I wouldn't mind but it was so loud you couldn't talk. I shorten my visit and went somewhere else.
N. K.
I felt the Sunday roast was overpriced and a little underwhelming. They sold out quite quickly too, which meant half our table had to order alternative menu items.
T. S.
Not bad for an unplanned visit on a Sunday, they were very welcoming and the food was very nice.
D. H.
The pub's great, but I was there for the football and it was a bit frustrating. They only have the one TV in the marquee and it cut out a few times during the match. Also, please tell your waiters to think about where they're standing when taking orders. Luckily England v Scotland was a terrible game so we didn't miss much!
J. D.
Nice cosy, family (and dog) friendly! Super speedy fast service and the food is incredible!! Absolutely would recommend to anyone, thanks Red Lion! 😍
R. V.
Friendly, professional & reliable service, great atmosphere, nice and elegant interior and lovely garden. A popular place in the area. Well deserved the reputation. Recommended.
P. P.
Wonderful experience of a British Sunday roast. I recommend the Lamb
A. E.
I reckon this is the best pub food in Barnes. The pub itself is nice at lunchtime and it's got a good garden. And here's an update. Food still good but maybe slightly less so, the menu is suffering from the usual veganics.
E. H.
Terrific pub and garden. The Chicken leek pie is a wonderful signature dish and they know their ales, lagers, and ciders. Very clean and Staff clearly prioritizes a safe, enjoyable experience
T. O.
Popped in to have a cold drink yesterday whilst waiting on my daughter to complete an appointment nearby. 1st impressions is that it was very clean and that the garden was busy with diners. I chose to sit in a quiet area near the door & a socket. Staff were very good at getting me to register via a QR code but I could have saved myself some time as I had to register again when I used their WiFi. I was a little disappointed with their non-alcoholic & soft drink range. They had 2 alcohol free beers but the soft drink range was very limited. I decided on a Heineken 0.0 with a splash of lemonade but thought it was a little on the expensive side at £5.05
I was served at my table as is the policy due to COVID and paid via contactless, which was great, but as I was in a very quiet area I was left to my own devices which usually would be ok for me but as it was a warm day I drank my beverage quickly but nobody came to check to see if I wanted another or something else. This was a little disappointing as I was close to the door and it should not have been a major diversion to pop their head in to check.
After awhile I had to plug my laptop in to charge and thought it great that they had sockets on the ledge of the seating rather than on the floor, they also had the USB ports so you don't need a plug if you want to charge your phone/tablet. The thing is the sockets are too close to the upholstery that you struggle to get the plug in securely, but this is a 1st world problem!
I decided to use the toilets, they were spotless, and get another drink. As I perused the fridges I spotted a 7up that had not been offered earlier and so ordered 2, again served at the table but again I thought they were on the expensive side at £2.95 each. The GP must be excellent but I do not see how it encourages responsible drinking as at those prices it would probably be cheaper to buy a pint. Maybe the government could add a new licensing objective that non-drinkers are not over charged for low/non alcoholic beverages.
Not sure who is in charge of the venue's pricing, if it is a Fuller's managed or tenanted site but whomever it is I would like them to review their pricing. If it is a tenant then Fuller's should also help by not over charging on soft drinks on a tied tenancy. I also believe that low alcohol beers should not be charged at the same rate as their premium beers.
d. n.
Reasonably priced drinks and well-cooked chips. Absolutely no complaints, even the weather was nice 🌤
E. M.
Amazing place and ambience, but food is just ok.
B.
Amazing pub with a great garden out the back. Good service and nice staff
B. M.
Very expensive but the beers tasted really nice the bar staff that I met were very plesent and polite so keep the great work up guys I still can't believe it took me 40 yrs to go back there 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
A. C.
Recent refurb late 2017. The seaman's seahorses still adorn the back pillars. More snug on the left as you enter. Just pity the Chesterfield couches have gone either side of the fire. Great spot in winters of yore.
B. A.
Lovely pub, food is OK . Service is good
k. r.
Always a lovely atmosphere and really great, spacious beer garden. Highly recommend it.
B. W.
Very clean pint, you can tell the pipes are well looked after, and the glass quality helps keep the beer lively. Sunday lamb roast was delicious and generous, the best I've had in a long time. The level of service is excellent and very conscientious. Shaun was attentive, professional and made us feel well looked after. The pub itself is beautiful, it has modern touches, but the landlords have ensured it hasn't lost its Victorian charm: a great pub and one of my all-time favourites in London.
A. B.
Always been a great pub with a nice garden and good beer & food. Currently it's superb. Garden had been renovated and is lovely, staff are realty helpful and (during COVID-19 restrictions) it's probably the place I've felt safest because of all the measures they have in place.
P. J. T.
Great gastro pub. Love it!
H. B.
Fantastic food the staff very helpful and polite. I'll go there again.
J. H.
Great pub, lovely atmosphere!
N. V.
Lovely pub. Food is excellent portions are generous and the wine selection is great
J. S.
Fantastic pub and great service. Group of 5 of us came for food and drinks on a busy summer evening. The staff were both friendly and super attentive, especially given at peak time. Delicious food (my wife and I had the salmon and chicken&leek pie) and a wide selection of great beers (fairly expensive but at a decent price for the area). Huge garden too. Definitely recommend
H. N.
This pub is great in the summer / dry weather as it has a huge garden and lots of outdoor seating. They do a good range of beers on tap including some IPA/craft options. The staff we've encountered on visits are friendly and serve you quickly. Did not eat on recent visit but know from previous that the roast is good. In the winter/wet there aren't loads of indoor seating options just for drinks as the restaurant part is quite large but it's a nice pub to stop in, especially as part of a Thames River walk...
A. E.
Good food served well. Excellent garden and outside tables at rear. Very private and up market beer garden
C. I. G.
It's nicer inside than outside. Good food. Good wine menu.
E. T.
Really impressed with the food here. Your usual pub classics, but done to a very high standard. Better than a lot of gastro pubs I've been to recently. Also, has lots of space inside and out and very friendly staff.
I'm still dreaming about the roast I had here yesterday. Nice beer and wine too.
L. M.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch here today but what made it special was the service. Shaun is an absolute asset to this pub, nothing is too much trouble! Any place is only as good as the service you receive, thank you Shaun for your care and attention.
M. S.
- Waiting staff impeccable as ever
- hygeine standards very high
- excellent food and drink (fish and chips out of this world)
- open to dogs however note my experience. Brought my new rescue doghdog as it is a usual place for a pint and a fine dinner. He is still getting used to new environments, and getting him used to pubs etc is important. We made sure our dog was under control and not running around by keeping him on lead under the table, however he was whining a lot. Unfortunately some customers possibly unhappy about this leading to manager informing us to try and stop him whining. Quite a busy pub so unfortunately felt like we were being told off, but I'm sure good intentions. Took him out for a walk half way but still whining. Ultimately left as felt uncomfortable staying any longer. I think perhaps a clearer dog policy should be prescribed, and it may have helped to advise us in a more constructive manner, as opposed to a 'sort it out' manner. A learning experience for all I suppose.
T. H.
A nice pub with lots of character and very friendly staff. The food is also of good quality but a little pricy for a pub food.
C. T.
I visited the Red Line on Saturday and it is such a wonderful pub.
The beer was great, the food fantastic and all of the staff were so lovely and friendly. I will definitely be visiting again. The Beer Garden is stunning as well.
Many thanks indeed for a great evening. First Class experience!!
m. a.
Nice place, nice people, I tried lamb shank which was delicious
A.
The Red Lion is a truly first class pub. Our visit took place on a blazing hot August Bank Holiday Monday. The ample and varied outdoor spaces were the perfect place to enjoy our plans for lunch and a few cold beers with friends. The food was very good and the cheerful staff coped extremely well with the brisk but not excessive demand that afternoon, as many a Barnes dweller seemed to be out of town for their holidays. Inside, is a beautiful Victorian interior and a capably manned bar. Queues were dealt with quickly and efficiently but the bar can be a bit of a bottleneck area for customers and I can imagine this might be a problem at busier times. My only wish would be to see a more competitive price for food and drinks but I still have to admit, this establishment deserves the five stars given in this review. I hope that I will return here some day should I venture to this urban village again.
M. T.
Lovely food. Friendly staff
L. T.
Great food, lovely staff but dress warmly. There are lots of doors and windows open for covid purposes and it was cold, really cold even now. Maybe take a blanket or drink more wine than I did!
M. F.
Good athmosphere, food, premises and very clean (including the beautiful loos). Staff is friendly, the armchairs comfortable, the fireplace was glowing with fire. Perfect after a walk or a visit to the Wetland Centre, especially on a rainy day.
M. L.
The pub is a staple in Barnes, there are many locals and it is a wonderful pub to share a few drinks with friends.
The restaurant serves very good food but on the day of our visit a few items were no longer on the menu and given that it was just before Christmas there were no Christmas options.
When we came to order the wine, the first bottle served was incorrect and then, when the correct bottle was ordered, it was the last bottle.
Overall the experience was good, I believe our issues were unique and since it was just before Christmas, the restaurant was unusually busy.
I shall definitely go back.
M. S. W.
I really liked this pub! Surprisingly good food, exceptional service and a lovely English beer garden as well. Definitely recommend this place if you are in the area. The gammon steak was outstanding. Chicken leak pie also delivered the goods.
A. S.
The food was delicious and the service super friendly.
E. H.
Food has always been excellent here, the best Sunday lunch I have had found in London. They have just refurbished and the outdoor area is much better now, with a small play area for kids which has improved it even more. Keep up the good work!
M. H.
Good choice of beer, bit too posh for me
D. B.
Friendly staff and good food. It was lovely to sit in the garden enjoying the sunshine
M. V.
Efficient friendly staff, good food, good atmosphere.
C. D.
Truly amazing Sunday roast. Hats off to the chefs, they make the best roast in London hands down. I have been trying many pubs across London and none do it better than this place. The staff are also very nice and welcoming.
S. K.
A character pub with friendly staff. A reasonable selection of real ales. We didn't eat here but the menu had good choice of food at very reasonable prices. We went there on a hot day and it was very welcoming to see a self serve iced lemon water dispenser, didn't have to queue and ask for water, very refreshing.
M. R.
Our favorite local here in Barnes. AMAZING staff, great food and large selection of drinks! Their garden is huge too! ZERO complaints - love this place. Make reservations if you want a locked in table - it can get busy...but they are always very accommodating!!
K. T.
Love the pub! My husband and I have been coming here for the last 11 years and we absolutely love their Sunday roast! The best Sunday roast in the area by far and excellent food in general. Gread job with the refurbishment too.
A. R.
We had a Christmas meal here and the food was fantastic, the beer was great and the staff were friendly and helpful... It was so close to five stars, but despite being told in advance of a colleagues dietary requirements they had lost the information and made no preparations, shame! I still intend to go back and see if the rest of the menu matches the quality of the Christmas one.
J. C.
Superb, great service and the best ales
N. S.
Lovely place, very cosy with really friendly staff. Key point to note, especially if you're a larger party, is that for such a large interior it has a surprisingly low capacity, so on cold days it quickly fills up (you can sit outside and a few spots have heaters, including some cool looking huts out front!)
A. C.
Delicious food although not much choice for veggies. The outside area is fabulous and warm.
J. N.
Best food in London, and great service
F. P.
Great pub, can sandwich menu be with main? Missed it completely then was too late, just had chips
R. B.
Good gastro grub for a Sunday lunch. Accommodated a gluten free request easily. Brewdog Vagabond available by the bottle.
Place looks great and is well presented.
Large beer garden with a ping pong table - ideal for summer!
Will return.
F. J. S.
We're visiting family in London for a 50th wedding anniversary. We had a delicious lunch with a large group and we were all served by a sweet and helpful server. Beautiful building and interiors. Most memorable
E. R.
This place is great! The food is wholesome and the staff are lovely. I walked in for a meal and the server (Jess?) told me about the specials and was really friendly. Ill defiantly go back!!
C. F.
Good service excellent beer
M. H.
Update: 18th July 2020. Strict distancing rules in place of course. Service at table. No prebooking needed as of lunchtime. All below apply except check for special events obviously. Great place to go during Covid due to extensive outdoor areas.
Older review:
Very high quality beer and wine selection. Beautiful outdoor seating and plenty of foody special events. Is my local - but kind of place that can easily become your local.
J. D.
Well planned outdoor eating, service was unobtrusive, food was okay- starters better than main.
J. R.
Just about the best pub food in South West London. Beer in excellet condition too, real cellarmanship. Wonderful building with a choose of outdoor spaces for all tastes.
J. K.
After walking up and down and again to find the Wetland Center I popped in to this cosy pub and enjoyed a best chicken salad ever (chef's special). The Red Lion made my day as a traveller, hopefully can come back during Spring.
M. H. (. P.
Neck Oil = Good Pub Although the burger and chips was a bit sparse and overpriced although tasty!
C. R.
Great pub, lots of beer selection. And a great roast on a Sunday. Very accommodating staff, fulfilling all requests, and going above a beyond.
P. R.
A fantastic lunch at the Red Lion. Delicious chicken and leek pie- come hungry as the portions are a good size. Friendly and attentive staff. Can definitely recommend.
K. V.
Very nice place for chilling specially for group outings. Nice pub near Richmond Park.
C. S.
Recent refurbishment hasn't altered the fundamental character of this historic (Fuller's) pub. That means a great selection of serious beers, and some really high quality food, with daily specials. Not surprisingly, therefore, it's busy at weekends, and the re-formatted Garden even more popular on sunny days. Attentive staff.
M. M.
The best Sunday lunch I've had ever! Top notch. Beautiful pub, friendly service and a hard working kitchen! Must book or get there early on a Sunday though! X
P. M.
This place is just gold! Always good food, always good service and the gardens are the best in SW London.
P. C.
OK pub food with price led pretentious to gastro. Large and roomy with a good garden. £13 for leek pie and mash; same for fish, chips and peas and £14 for a cheeseburger seemed a lot for relatively plain food and average service.
A. W.
Very nice pub with a lovely interior and beautiful outside space however the food is far too expensive. Although it's situated in a wealthy part of London, the prices do not have to reflect that...it's not very welcoming to those not from the area.
P. B.
Good food and wide range of beers. Nice garden area too for those warmer sunny days. Friendly helpful staff. Children and dog friendly.
Always worth a visit.
E. N.
Amazing service great food.
Thanks. To Massi, noah and Team.
A. W.
Great Vegan wrap salad and fab chips. Good veggie options and they were happy to adapt to suit me as a vegan. . Friendly staff - will definitely be back.
H. P.
Great venue and good burgers... strongly recommended!
S. J.
Has actually got better since re-opening after lockdown. Social distancing efforts well thought out and executed. Good food if a little overpriced. Not busy.
E. K.
The Red Lion is perhaps one of the most venerable establishments in Barnes, with a history dating back well over a hundred years. It has taken many forms over that time, being a hotel at one point, but its most contemporary and natural form as a pub is undoubtedly where it excels.
This Fuller's pub offers an excellent array of real ales, IPAs, APAs and lagers to quench one's needs at any given situation. Possibly most notable is the presence of the charming- though tricky to deliver-Fuller's ESB-otherwise known as Extra Special Brew.
In terms of layout, it may not offer as attractive and comfortable a beer garden as the relatively nearby Coach and Horses, nor the potential as a social hub for younger people as The Sun, but it more than makes up for it in terms of prestige, pedigree and profusion of great beers.
B. B.
Great service despite it being busy
a.
Good food, good beer, friendly service. Good range of options on the menu. They've even got a car park. Don't forget to register your car with the bar.
J. J.
Really tasty Sunday Roast which I would absolutely recommend. Nice pub, great beer garden and friendly staff.
J. M.
Nice pub to go to after having played some sports in the nearby Barn Elms facilities. There's a very nice garden at the back. Food could be improved but service is great.
J. W.
Excellent food served till 10 pm. Good beer and they have a nice non alcoholic lager for the driver! Staff are friendly and management helpful and responsive.
L. O.
Nice big pub. Lots of seating. Tasty food and a warm welcome for visiting rugby teams in need of post match tea.
J. S.
First time we've been here since the refurb and the place looks great. Food was lovely, service top notch and beer was in good condition. Will definitely be back!
A. G.
Very friendly service from the young man behind the bar plus the fish and chips is fantastic. Added bonus being good beer to wash it down. Superb.
M. S.
Very nice pub. We were there on a Sunday and the roast was delicious! The staff is very friendly too! The perfect complement to a visit to the Wetland centre.
A. R.
Owners Angus and Claire not only roll out the red carpet for everyone, they work incredibly hard to make running this popular Barnes pub look easy, always surrounded by a great team. Highly recommend their annual Shakespear in the Garden every September, great fun and plenty of blankets to keep everyone warm!

For a boiling day, the Red Lion was a good choice - the inside's big and airy, with a mix of tables and sofas, and there's a huge garden out the back too. Roasts had sold out (to be expected at 2.30) and, as there were eight of us, we went for a mix of everything - hot smoked salmon salad with grapefruit and avocado, lamb burger with harissa, pork and apple sausages with vegetable mash - and everything was a real cut above what you'd expect from pub food. Drinks range was excellent too - Brooklyn Brewery lager and porter for my beer-snob brother, Rekordlig pear cider and Crabbies ginger beer, then plenty of good quality wines too. Totally recommended.

Great atmosphere and lovey staffs, would recommend this place.
L. L.
Lovely food, in a heated hut. As good as it gets just now!
T. C.
A great pub which improves further with the addition of the London Exiles Rugby team post game on Saturday. Expect classic sing-a-long tunes to enjoy while having a few pints.
G. D.
Almost always a pleasure visiting this pub. Staff are excellent and beer is good. As always it's the snotty nosed customers who believe that nobody else should be there
C. W.
Nice large garden (mostly covered) and solid pub food and drink

The Red Lion is a truly first class pub. Our visit took place on a blazing hot August Bank Holiday Monday. The ample and varied outdoor spaces were the perfect place to enjoy our plans for lunch and a few cold beers with friends. The food …

Really impressed with the food here. Your usual pub classics, but done to a very high standard. Better than a lot of gastro pubs I've been to recently. Also, has lots of space inside and out and very friendly staff. …
