Reviews of The Red Lion E6
D. L.
Great pub. Excellent outdoor area. Staff very friendly.
Contemporary vibe.
Heard good things about the Pizzas.
Will go again
V. C.
Love this place. Pizza is great and good priced! They ran out of 'the geezer' so helped me change another one..I drink coke so can't comment in drinks or their prices. Its always clean and a good atmosphere
R. M.
Really cute pub. Seats out back were nice and comfy.
Service with a smile... which gave me a big smile
Bar staff were patient, helpful, and willing to please
The manager was particularly attentive
10/10
The foods really good too ^.^ the truffle tagliatelle is boom and every pizza I've tried so far has been delicious, fresh and well cooked.
Dog friendly (they bring out water and treats) ✔ quiz nights ✔ function room ✔ good music ✔ Sunday roast ✔
J. T.
Came here for the Wednesday pub quiz for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The decor is shoreditch-esque and trendy inside & the quiz was great fun with decent bar tab & cash prizes!
Planning on coming back again.
G. M.
Friendly service and a good food and drink selection. Delicious gluten free pizza options available.
D. C.
Recently refurbished pub that looks great. There's a good selection of food and drinks available. It's primarily a pizza menu with a good range of pizzas available. We had two pizzas and they were cooked well and very tasty, definitely try them out if you visit. The staff are very friendly and if you fancy a mid week quiz be sure to go on a Wednesday for quiz night. Inside is a little small, but there is a massive beer garden when the weather is a little warmer. I highly recommend this pub, will definitely be back to visit again!
C. S.
Great pub with a lovely atmosphere and dog-friendly beer garden. We had 2 pizzas and focaccia side which was delicious and the staff went above and beyond. A gem of a find!
S. A.
Decided to pop down to this local - it’s a nice pub, with a cosy feel & quirky interior. The music is a touch too loud but not unbearable. We also waited over 40mins for food, while ppl who came in & ordered later got their food before us.
The Bad Dog pizza was decent - quite salty and rocket laden, the gnocchi was nice, albeit very basil-y.
The staff were friendly & offered a free soft drink to apologise.
Good wine and the espresso martini went down well!
G. R.
Such a good venue, great decor amazing staff. Food was yummy. Soooooooo excited for the future of this pub!
J. C.
Great pub, with great beer selection and beer garden. Eclectic music selection with DJs. Really friendly staff.
F. T.
Nice pub and good place for a beer. Unfortunately, most of the food was not available, and they don't seem to have a great choice regarding the beers. However, the place was not crowded and it's right next to a bus stop. Food was good, staff was nice.
I. S.
Great pub with friendly & helpful staff, excellent selection of beers (& cocktails). Love their music play list! Cosy & airy inside, and wonderful beer garden outside. They often host entertainment nights, like reggae evening, etc.
R. K.
Not a bad place to eat and socialise. The inside is cosy and comfortable, but due to the size can only accommodate a limited number of people currently. Service from the staff was great and the pizza tasted good. The much larger outside space would benefit from heating when the weather is inclement. Overall worth a visit.
E. J.
Such a lovely pub, best freshly cooked pizza around. The food is so tasty and the atmosphere is so comfortable, lovely large outside garden. Nothing is not to much for the staff.
N. L.
Really friendly bar staff. There are firewood pizzas available there which are very nice and is enough to feed two people. They have an outdoor garden at the back which is dog friendly and if you have older kids then the park is next to the establishment if they want to go and play
J. B.
I don't normally do reviews, but I am so appreciative of a decent pub finally opening in Eastham, I am forcing myself to get over my usual English coyness. Thank you for existing Red Lion E6.
M. 6.
I used to visit this pub back when it was the Hammers and can't believe the transformation. The beer garden is exceptional, with fantastic seating, canopy and BBQ area. Inside has been completely refurbished is a rustic/reclaimed theme. The selection of lagers and spirits is something I've not seen in other local pubs. I draw attention to a lager made in a small walthamstow brewery which was a revelation in taste. Food is also served and includes awide range of authentic pizzas and at reasonable prices for their quality. Quiz nights and a Sunday roast are also part of its attraction. I would recommend giving this pub a try for a little bit of something different from the other local hum drum pubs in East ham.
J. B.
Great beer garden, friendly staff and lovely rustic interior design.
A. L.
Pint of San Miguel is about £4.60 (-ish). Delicious wood fired pizzas. Alright decaf latte. Lovely warm interior - nice big tables by the windows. Decent beer garden too with covered tables to shelter from the rain! Pre-pandemic, decent DJs, quiz nights and I think a bit of live music too. New staff so can’t say too much - they’re professional but I guess they don’t know their regulars yet! Music used to be played far too loud for a pub but they’ve sorted the volume out now.
s. a.
First time here, staff are so so friendly, help you with anything, drinks and food, even let me sample lagers before buying them. Highly recommended, the place to be
M. k.
Really nice little pub with good atmosphere and range of drinks with friendly staff- think it’s gone through change of management couple times . Proper matter of timing it right when you go as can be rammo and a table hard to find. Only pub in the area where my 66 year old mother can sit there by herself with a drinks and feel comfy!
H. T.
Great face lift for what was previously 'the Hammers'. It's now the best pub in Newham! Their pizza and a pint Monday offer of a tenner is awesome!
A. M.
My girlfriend and I shared a plate of meat - it was very delicious! I can easily recommend this place - great atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonable prices and wonderful food.
J. D.
Came here after a bad day and had the most wonderful time, the assistant manager was lovely and friendly, she honestly was amazing to talk too. The beer selection is great, and the environment is very friendly. If you're looking for a great pub with a fantastic environment and super friendly staff this is the place.
They also have a huge outdoors with cover and have sky sports playing, and their DJ has great taste in music.
Cannot rate this place enough!
K. H.
Amazing little pub in the east end where the staff are super friendly and drinks are well priced. We often go for the weekly pub quiz on a Wednesday, and would highly recommend you attend one of their events. Alejandro and all the staff make sure your super welcome in this quaint east end pub! Also order some of their sourdough pizzas, there are so many options including vegan and all are delicious!!! Highly recommend you come and visit!
J. n.
Lovely pub with wow pizza. Worth eating it. Staff friendly. Would come again.
S. R.
Lovely decor and atmosphere, were missing a few menu items but overall a lovely experience.
J. H.
Have been here a number of times since moving to the area. They have a nice selection of beers on tap. Staff are friendly, with a good sense of humour. Pizzas are delicious - good ingredients. Always seems busy, even on a Tuesday night! The beer garden is brilliant for summer sessions, they also have a ping pong table out there.
N. M.
A really cosy place with excellent pizza, not at all what I was expecting from a pub. They're taking Covid safe measures seriously, and all the hand sanitisers were full. The staff were diligently cleaning after each patron. The team are also lovely, I'll be visiting again for sure
T. C.
Nicest place in the area and staff are so nice. Very good service and very attentive.
P. d. R.
I have been visiting the Red Lion since they opened. It is a great pub! Great atmosphere, good selection of craft beers and delicious pizza! The garden is big and they hold different venues over the week. The staff is friendly and welcoming, met Alejandro in the last visit who was very helpful and friendly! SO good to have this place in the area!
T. K.
Fantastic artisan pizzas, great beers and a warm welcome in this quirky joint. More like a Hackney pub than an East Ham boozer, this place and the Denmark Arms up the road are the advanced guard of gentrification/hipsterdom to come. Bring it on, I say. Great for families.
d. i.
Pizza is pretty decent and garden is quite nice. Already a local favourite
s. m.
One of the few nice pubs around Beckton and maybe even Newham. It has a nice collection of ales, outdoor seating and a unique take on wood-fired pizzas.I have brought in a bunch of friends multiple times and everyone is surprised at the quality of this pub in Beckton. Keep it going and once this whole pandemic ends, I hope your pub is filled to the brim and a little over!!
B. M.
Characterful pub with lovely big garden and covered area. Stripped wood floors inside and a good range of beers. When I there there was also a seperate mini bar outside serving Hells Lager and spirits along with taking orders for there excellent pizzas. All these plus points let down by the familiar issue of a lack of bar staff on a small bar inside. When we walked in the bar was 6-7 deep and painfully slow. There were great live bands playing in the garden but these punters would have missed much of that due to waiting - and the pub had been told it would be busy...lack of staff (and trained/caring staff) seems to be such an issue for so many pubs. If this addressed and resolved this boozer could be hitting 5 stars easy...(thank goodness I like Hells Lager! No queue at the minibar outside)
J. D.
Annoying thing is they advertise (online and in the pub) that they show football but then cancel it for no good reason with no notice, so twice I’ve come down for an advertised game and it’s not been on. Overall decent pub but you can’t trust their posts and don’t bother if you want to watch the football as they’ll likely let you down.
S. T.
This is definitely the best pub in East Ham. Sadly they don't really have hand pump ales ( Doom Bar if you're lucky) but still some good wines, ciders and bottled craft ales. The atmosphere is friendly and surprisingly trendy for East Ham. Very good pizzas. The garden is peaceful and spacious. I've lived in East Ham a long time and have waited ages for a nice pub to visit. Worth a trip. Pub quiz Wednesday nights.
B. B.
Lovely addition to the neighborhood - a great example of progression in the area.
Really good beer and wine range, pizzas are excellent; and when they do BBQ they really do BBQS.
Finally - most importantly - staff are friendly and care. When we had a slight issue with a dish we'd had before not being what we had come to expect, the manager went out of his way to ensure we were adequately apologised to and more than made up for it.
Great to have a great local.
M. A.
Nicely refurbished replacement for the old Hammers Pub, which is now a kind of pizza restaurant crossed with a pub. It has a decent choice of beers and spirits for those just after the drinks, as well as a large and very nice beer garden (currently being enjoyed during the nice weather and World Cup). The food is of a decent standard, but although I like pizzas, there are other options and specials, plus Sunday roasts are very nice. Given its East Ham the prices may seem a bit high to some, but I think it's to be expected in what is now a new, clean and trendy establishment.
D. M.
Good pub refurbished. Serves roadie Ipa and very good pizza. Comfy relaxed place. Good selection of spirits too, according to my girlfriend who works as an alchohol adviser
A very welcome addition to east ham
Also a year later, this pub is still great. Very good bar staff. Shouts to jihad for the fantastic service, she has an interesting (to me) name, but she is great hard working bar staff, and a very nice person. Looking forward to getting back to my local after travelling for work. A home from home.
C. D.
Went on the opening night. So so good! Lovely staff and environment. Great music! Big garden area with heaters and super tasty pizza. Only downside is that it isn’t open until later! Just what this area needs! So nice to meet the community get yourself down here :)
M. B.
Nice rustic, shabby chic, decor, with some vintage and upcycling examples. Stools at the bar. Large beer garden with covered area with sofas, where sports can be watched. Overall better atmosphere, food, and friendlier staff than the other pubs/bars in the area.
J. G.
Pizza is genuinely excellent. Good range of beers. The Tootal Twins are great to have around when they're in. An absolute safe bet of a place. Keep it up, guys.
A.
Great place to have a drink any time of the day, staff are really nice and do great drinks
N. A.
Nice atmosphere, nice decor! Good staff, they are young and attentive! Pizzas are nice, they offer gluten free pizzas. A hidden gem shall I say for the area it is in
A. B.
Extremely crowded for Sunday Roasting, but the staff were able to squeeze us in. Roasts were strong - especially the stuffing - although the veggie roast suffered from all the gravy being hoovered up by the nuts. The food is slightly overpriced, but that's a function of there being no competing nice places in the area. As the tide of gentrification rolls inexorably eastwards, I expect that will change.
M. I.
Great spot in the heart of East Ham. The sourdough pizza was great and came out quickly. The staff were friendly. They have a nice range of alcohol although this could be expanded.
T. H.
Visited Saturday afternoon beer ok staff very good an friendly. Will return hope they do well. Great concept. Didn't try food but seems good mix

I’m originally from East Ham, but I live in West now; every now and then I go to East Ham to visit family and old friends. When I catch up friends and family, I usually go down to the pub or to a restaurant in London, but hardly ever in East Ham. It was until a friend told me about the Red Lion, I was intrigued and wanted to give the the new pub a try.
The staff were very kind and welcoming, which you don’t really find that kind of customer service in East Ham; unfortunately. On two occasions that I’ve been to the Red Lion, I was having rather a bad day. Andy, the boy from the bar who works at the pub, was very kind to me and welcoming, and made my day (as so did the rest of the staff). It’s a lovely little pub; it has a very “Shoreditch” feel to it, which is probably why there was mostly adults age 25+ there. I love the interior as well, as I’m an interior designer too; the up-cycling and original brick wall on the right hand corner of the pub was such an amazing idea, and really gave the pub quality, class and lots of character, and edge; Don’t even get me started about the pub garden, amazing, so chilling, makes me feel like I’m in Greece!
It’s a great/lovely little pub in the heart of East London; great customers service, the employees show a lot of care (unless they’re really good actors lol!), and respect, very clean, presentable, and amazing interior; what could you want more in a pub?! Other than to get drunk in the middle of a Saturday afternoon on rosé, grapes 🍇 and cheese 🧀 ❤️
C. C.
Moved to East Ham just over 4 years ago. Not necessarily the part of London I’d instinctively choose to live in. However, this pub certainly helps. Like a quiet pint here on a Saturday afternoon whilst reading my paper and listening to the football scores come in.
C. D.
Great selection of beers and the best pizza around!
H. L.
It's what east ham has been missing a lovely pub great beer selection and friendly staff. They do a Sunday roast, great pizzas and burgers. This will become my go to local

Lovely pub. Great selection of beers. You almost forget you’re in East Ham. The garden is the best one I’ve seen in ages !
P. H.
Very nice family atmosphere and good food. Drinks are a bit pricey but it helps to keep those out that just want to get smashed.
B. R. W.
Great service. They could do with some more umbrellas for the street side tables. #hailstones
C. R.
It's amazing I love this pub so friendly child and dog friendly ❤
