Reviews of The Ship
S. C.
Ideally situated at the side of the River Thames and less than 10 minutes walk from Wandsworth Town railway station. The pub is part of a chain (Young's) and there are several pubs belonging to the same chain in the same locality. Foodwise service was good however if you've visited any of their other pubs you'll quickly recognise many of the dishes as there seems to be a fair degree of duplication. That said it's no bad thing. Well worth a visit especially if you can secure a place in the beer garden as you'll be able to enjoy views both up and down the Thames.
C. J.
Came here for a quick bite on a weeknight. Food was tasty, would definitely come back in the summer to enjoy the view outside.
J. D.
Sunday roast was a good portion, Yorkshire pudding was nice and the mash underneath the beef. The beef cut wasn’t the best. Overall I enjoyed the pub roast, of course doesn’t beat a home roast but it’s convenient. The seating outside felt you were practically sitting on top of your neighbour. Way too close to too many people even for pre covid days, especially now, food establishments should be more responsible and at least have a reasonable distance between customers/diners. However, inside I’m sure is fine.

This is a great venue! I went there to watch the 6Ntions with some friends, and we had an awesome time. There is a great selection of the beers, and food is pretty good too. Staff were all friendly. Only negative for me was it was very very busy, which meant that getting to the toilets was difficult, as there were a lot of people to push through to get there. On the whole, a great day and I would go again.
E. M.
The burger patties used to be bigger but it's still delicious! On the pricey side though. Tables on the deck are crammed so if you want your covid-free space choose a different place! The view lovely as always..
S. M.
One of our favourite london pubs, great location bear the river. Ideal when weather is good, relaxed atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Food offer is one of best in area.
Best alfresco
J. L.
We went there for a work lunch. The classic burger 🍔 and fries 🍟 were very tasty. Easy to recommend.
D. O.
I went for few drink with a friend on Sunday night.
If I remember well, guys name who was behind the bar was Emil! 😍
Thank you so much for kind servise! And also 2 security guys at the door 😍
Have to give them credit for being so friendly and making our night special 🙏🏼
C. M.
Brilliant staff. Really welcoming. Excellent beer garden. Wonderful atmosphere. 10 stars
G. C.
The location is obviously one of its attractions. Food from burger bar is good and filling, but need to order fries separately if you are hungry. Lots of customers go to the burger bar to order food, only to be told to order from bar. Cook looked a little board with repeatedly saying this. So why no sign? Beer well kept and reasonable selection.
T. H.
What a pleasure. The best Sunday lunch with pork crackling, and they were not shy with their portions. Huge Yorkshire pud. Lovely atmosphere and great staff. River table. Even loved the funky bar mats.. I'll for sure go again on a sunday.
A. C.
We went there for a family dinner and the food was very very good. One of the best pubs around, would definitely go back!
j. s.
£10 for a double Jameson and it was small. Beer selection average at best. Good atmosphere though.
C. H.
Just had amazing customer service here after a not their fault issue, thanks to all - as well as the usual great beer and one of the best sausage rolls I've ever had!
M. D.
Youngs pub & beer kept well - great start. Food was tasty and whilst there was a problem with the meal the team responded so helpfully. Cool wood burner by the bar too. Will be back
O. M.
Loved the vibes at The Ship! Lots of seating for big groups inside and outside. Food was lovely and a nice variety of drinks (I must add the Guinness was the best I've had during my 2 months in London)! My date also loved it and we'll definitely be back - thank you!
E. W.
Phenomenal pub. Lovely outdoor seats along the river with a great atmosphere! Lots of young people & great music. I would say out of all the Young’s Pubs, this one is the most lively, and makes the extortionate drink prices worthwhile.
M. J.
Tasty food: excellent fish and chips and nice flatbread sandwich (though the poached egg really should have had a runny yolk, not a nearly hardboiled one). And because this is a Young’s pub, they have this *amazing* Slovenian white wine, Quercus pinot bianco, which I have become slightly obsessed with and haven’t seen on any menus except at Young’ses.
Y.
Young's beer... not bad... however the tongue/bratwurst sandwich 🥪 was superb but a bit messy !!! Sat by the river and were entertained by the seagulls trying to maintain their position in a tide going out and the odd boat passing.
C. P.
Landlord is very welcoming and engaging, staff are friendly and bubbly, been twice and really enjoyed the acts especially Miss Mopps, will be back soon!
C. B.
Very nice place. Fresh new look and well presented. The staff were friendly and welcoming. There was plenty of seats, inside, outside with and without shade. The food was delicious and drinks on par. Not too much variety on food but drinks galore. Great place to visit with friends, family or partner. Advise to book on the weekends.
Z. P.
Traditional English pub with an outside patio facing the river Thames. Perfect for summer's evenings. The Ship is good for different occasions. Been there for lunch with work colleagues, Sunday Roast with my mum, drinks with friends...
Good food portions for the price they have.
E. D. S.
....friendly -little bit slow and not well organized staff! Food is average- but The restaurant is cosy! ☺️...It is worth a visit! 🕯
S. T.
Great fish and chips!
D. d. A.
I was here to try the scottish egg. People told me they have the best of London. Was there on a sunday and they don't have the eggs on a sunday. Tried the burger, that was perfect. Friendly staff. We definetly come back here.
M. A.
Great outdoor seating with views over the river. Perfect spot for a sunset, but get there early as this places gets packed quickly! Drinks are pretty pricey but to be expected of the area. We didn't order food, but curly fries from The Burger Shack were good with our drinks!
T. T.
Upmarket local pub by the river. Lovely interior decor and log burner to keep you warm. Slightly pricier than your average pub. Pint of pimms and lemonade, and a Guinness was 15.25£.
Sharing plate of nachos was massive and delicious - best part was the slow cooked meat and bacon. Scotch egg starter definitely a highlight.
K. T.
The Ship restaurant is separate from the large bar. We ordered the pan fried duck, fish and chips, and ribeye. The customer service was excellent, the atmosphere was pleasant, and fairly priced. Missed out on five stars because the food was good without being fantastic.
b. d.
Nice place in the sun. Order at the bar, the app is too much work.
R. C.
Lovely pub by the river. Great selection of beers. Didn't have time to eat but the bar snacks looked lovely
G. B.
Excellent Sunday roast very lively atmosphere friendly staff great setting on the river fairly priced. Recommend
M. R.
I’ve been to the shop a dozen of times and I’ve never been disappointed.
I usually have the ‘classic’ with curly fries, which is a pretty tasty beef burger with cheese, onion, pickles and with mayo / ketchup added to your taste.
Curly fries are damn good, they complement very well the burger and the portion is quite generous.
Last but not least, I would like to mention the big plus of the shack, which is the location. It’s just on the river side and on a sunny day it’s perhaps the best place where to eat in the whole area.
V. M.
I enjoy very much the Sunday lunch at The Ship and I would like to thank Jemima for her service. You are absolutely amazing. Thank you and see you soon. Viorica
J. N.
Brilliant atmosphere, great night out only thing is more heating outside is needed.
D. T.
What a wonderful place with wonderful staff, eager to help and very polite. All done with an honest smile! Right next to a cement works but hey how you can't have everything. An extremely pleasant visit, do come!
A. M.
Handy place to watch the sun go down over the Thames. Use the Youngs on Tap app to get drinks delivered to your table. Decent menu too.
M. R.
A good pint of Young's Special is available here, and the wood burner looks great and warms my dog up nicely.
J. R.
Lovely beer garden and really friendly staff, but seriously bad house music (for some absurd reason) and ridiculously expensive. Not for me.
E. P.
The food was really good! We sat outside for brunch and ordered through the Young's on Tap app. Loved it!
d.
A nice bar to have a few drinks on a sunny day - food is a bit pricey for what it is..but overall pleasant experience.
L. N.
Great burgers, lovely staff.
Well presented, good location.
A. W.
Great for outdoor drinking. Big spacious deck and lots of seating. Good beer selection and grill for burgers and pulled pork. Frequented by well of Londoners and celebs, this is the place to be on a Sunday
J. M.
Lovely outside space. Prices are high - higher than other Youngs pubs in S London (cheapest bottle of rose is 36.50 for something that's £30 in our local Youngs, beers are above normal) and burger was a bit ropey and gristly. Good curly fries though! Service was rapid with the app.
H. W.
Great riverside pub, always busy and has a great atmosphere on match days. Food is really good and gives you different options both inside & outside depending on your mood! Staff are really friendly.
S. B.
Came along for Sunday drinks, Mare was the BEST! She’s was super fun, professional and helpful. We also saw her interacting with lots of other customers- everyone loving her hard work!! We’ll be back, thanks Mare! X
R. P.
Nice pub, plenty of seating outside. The outside kebab heaters need a bit more power. Inside was very quiet ~6pm on a Thursday, but got a little too busy for comfort as the evening went on.
Didn't appreciate the dogs (a patrons) barking and jumping up to tables.
E.
The waiter Hamish is so helpful and accommodating. He made us feel so welcome even when we didn't make a booking and was super enthusiastic. He really added to our whole experience and we are really impressed. Will definitely come back. Thanks Hamish!
A.
I ordered a 21 day dry aged ribeye steak and I gotta say it was worth it. Steak was delicious and moist which is an indicator that the dry aging process was done well.
Also the place was cozy and the staff was kind
F. C.
A lovely unusual setting, which works particularly well now after COVID restrictions are lifted but people may still feel cautious. Friendly and helpful staff, really good food.
P. C.
Very helpful staff. Arranged a table, as we were passing and hadn't booked. Also helped with our order, when the item wasn't on the app. Great atmosphere and although we didn't eat - would next time - as all of the food passing us looked yummy.
K. L. A.
Just wanted to write a review about Mare, she was so friendly and such a good waitress. I don’t usually write reviews a lot but I really wanted to point out how great she was! Made our experience fantastic
B. B.
Watched the EUROs here outside in the beer garden which was great. App to table service was rapid and spot on and staff were friendly and attentive. Had food from the onsite burger shack later on in the evening and it was delicious.
M. L.
Awesome pub.. attracts the attractive. In an oddly industrial setting. Beautiful people love a large cement mixer! It really is a great, well thought out pub with tradition spaces mixed with funky outside beer garden (a fire pit was firing last year) overlooking the river. Never eaten here but the drinks service is good and pub is well staffed. You’d get a job here just to observe the clientele.
B. H.
Nice bar for an Saturday evening. Interior looks nice but we were only in the outside area at the Riverside were you have a great view. Drinks are good. Service is nice and friendly.
P. H.
Hands down the best pub in London! It’s always a fun vibe! Was so happy to go back after lockdown and had such a lovely afternoon. Service is always fab and the food and drinks are always great. Massive shoutout to Ianna. She was absolutely amazing, great service and made us feel so welcome!!!
D. M.
Lovely food.Great views over the river
Great atmosphere.
M. O.
A group of 6 attended the ship for the August bank holiday (Sunday) and honestly what a great choice we made by booking 3-6:30pm, the only downside was we should have booked longer!!
The place had a great vibe, tables were in line with the government recommendations about social distancing and the service despite it being quite busy was superb.
The food was also good with my friends having the sesame wings, curly fries and burger and chips!! All in all good pub food and great pub vibe - with a definite not if but when are we coming back is the question.
Also the bouncers were great too especially the brothers - really helpful and nice and polite. We need more pubs like the ship in london but until then it’s figuring out what day works best for my group to come back.
R. T.
Really quick table service AND they put candles in a brownie for my friend’s birthday when all I did was enter it as a special request on the order!! So impressed!! Beautiful views of the river too 😍
I. F.
Nice atmosphere, good food and pretty good service too; a bit overpriced though!
A. P.
One of the best pubs I’ve ever been to (especially in summer) - absolutely perfect location, crowded but never loud / obnoxious, a huge selection of drinks and phenomenal food!
O. S.
Great out door area, with heaters, covid safe, burger shack and a view! What more could you want?!
B. G.
A lovely pub on the edge of the Thames but probably the most expensive pub I've been to in London. About £17-18 for a burger and chips.
W. D.
Been to a few pubs since lock down eased and Mare at the ship has been unreal! Her service has been the best I've ever had the pleasure of having, she always has a smile and cracks joke. I'd come back just for Mare, legend
M. W.
Went for pub quiz night, loads of fun great atmosphere
S. O.
Came on banks hols weekend and had a cracking time. The staff swapped our table around when another table became available which for me is defo going the extra mile. I wish I remembered that member of staffs name but I can't as it was brief interaction. However, Zack, star of the show, went above and beyond for us, took photos for us and service was 10/10. Will be coming back just because of his impeccable service specifically.
G. R.
Great local pub. Always alot of fun when visiting. Great selection of draught beers. There are also vegan food options which is great for me 👌
S. M.
Our server was fantastic and the river views are amazing. But there was not enough social distancing possible (had table inside) as the place was very busy. Food was ok. Bathrooms felt a bit dirty. I can see however how this place is immensely popular and amazing fun in pre-covid times. Overall we still had a good time!
A. G.
Loved the vibe and mac&cheese from this place 😍. I won’t hesitate to come back and try their other variety of foods
M. R.
Had an amazing night at The Ship, just wanna say thanks to the hostess Ianna for sorting us out with a fab table when we didn’t have a booking! Love her and love the ship!!! :)
N. M.
Was in over the bank holiday weekend and had the most wonderful time! Great vibes and great atmosphere! massive thanks to Jack for making us feel so welcome and helping us move tables :)
A. N.
Would have been great but one of my party was so miserable they wanted to leave after one drink spoiling it for the rest of the group
R. W.
We are regulars at the ship & Mare is always wonderful. Always smiling and going above and beyond to make sure our day/night here is a good one! We love you!
R. K.
had a brill day here, customer service amazing and great food. Our server made our experience so pleasant, had to ask her name. Ianna deserves great praise as she was truly faultless, I will defo be back
L. K.
Wandsworth outdoor pub with football, curly fries, burgers and aperol. They have done a lot to maximise their custom and seem to be doing well as a business- heavily populated especially in the afternoons. London prices.
E. T.
Christine was a wonderful waiter. Made me feel super welcome and unjudged for ordering a bottle of wine and a whole camembert to myself! Sooo friendly :) you are lucky to have her
A. K.
Always a great vibe in London! Shout out to the twins! Good food good vibes
D. W.
Great riverside pub with outdoor tables and good burgers. Gets RAMMED in summer but it's good fun. Clientele on a Friday and Saturday are typically 9/10 on the unpleasant SW posh, drunk and noisy scale.
L. L.
Had such a great time at the ship. The setting was gorgeous and we also had a lovely server called jack. He went above and beyond all evening. Will be back!
W. H.
What a lovely place... if you want to sit outside please make sure you book though!!
Booked (on the spot) my return (outside this time) which should tell you how much I enjoyed the vibe and food!
F. N.
Neibours are selfish, don't let people cool down in hot weather. They said is private, I don't think so is a side walk.
C. F.
Love the ship. Food and service is always great !
A. M.
Huge shoutout to the lovely host Ianna, we were walk-ins and she sat us on a lovely table by the river just as the sun was out then moved us to shelter once it started raining! Would come again just to see her lovely smile ;)
D. J.
The venue is great, sitting on the bank of the Thames. I look forward to sitting on their deck when the Sun finally emerges! Oh, my fish and chips gets top marks!
R. S.
Bit strange & noisy, more of a club than a pub. Overpriced as well in my opinion.
R. M.
Good food and drink but very pricey.
I. B.
Cracking pub great food and beer very friendly staff well worth a visit
N. K.
Superb Sunday roast... Not the cheapest but worth every penny. Make sure you arrive hungry!
C. L.
Friendly welcome, lovely waitress who was very accommodating. One of our group was gluten free and she was very helpful finding us gluten free options. The food was good and the air conditioning was very welcomed today. Would go back to.
r. t.
One of my new favourite spots in London due to its vibrant atmosphere and accommodating staff. Extra praise to our server Ianna who has guaranteed we will return soon!!!
S. B.
Great pub on the river , burger and pub food excellent. Bar staff tonight were super good
E. S.
Gorgeous pub by the river. Great selection of food and drink. Loads of outdoor space
C. L.
Very busy pub. Great service.
S.
Very friendly staff. Nicely organised to get you in as quick as possible. Food is great, a bit of wait for food due to the kitchen being busy but worth the wait! Would recommend, nice vibes. Option to seat outside also.
m. c.
Perfect spot for some summer fun! Have been here before and will definitely come back. Such a buzz with great staff, we love JACK!!!
M. T.
I came in a lovely afternoon for a couple of drinks. I was surprised how our bartender (Cian) was professional and drinks was another level, thank you Mr Cian.
Everything was amazing, the host was hot like fresh apple pie.
T. C.
Worth a visit but it depends when you go. Great live music when it was allowed, food is good, sitting outside is great in the summer. Mixed emotions about this place now as its all about who you go with. I will go back when it opens.
S. C.
Nice pub. Such a busy party on saturday night.
F. Z.
Excellent service and an atmosphere full of vibes, place never disappoints! Special thanks to Mare that made my friend and I an excellent afternoon. The Ship would not be the same without her.
F. R.
Great pub+ you can host your office parties. By the river.
A. M.
First time back since Covid and felt really safe. Our waiter Christine was super lovely and we had great service. Would recommend 👌
T. M.
Menu was really interesting, one of the best pub menus I've ever seen. I was totally spoiled for choice but settled on the duck in the end which was fab. Could have done with a side because the portion of cabbage and sweet potato puree provided was rather small, aside from that great though. The wings my dining partners had were reported as being pretty bad though. I didn't have them myself however.
The service left a lot to be desired. The waiting staff were incredibly rude, one asked us if we'd like any sauces and we said yes - to which she sighed. When she brought them, we realised that the first waiter had only brought forks so we asked the her one could we please have some knives too. She rolled her eyes at us and said "anything *else*" before bringing them.
My wine also had a fruit fly in it (there were so many in the pub!) and the waitress I told didn't even apologise (I also doubt she brought a new class and instead just picked it out, but I have no evidence for that aside from her grumpiness)
Overall the menu was great, my food good, but the service, the flies, and my friends' food bad.
P. M.
Decent beer, fantastic location on the river, loads of choice in terms of food and seating. Friendly staff. Entertaining quiz night. Fantastic all round pub - if a little pricey but that's London
l. w.
Everyone my age loves this place but I didn’t get it, creepy two men who looked like they run the place, expensive food and drink, staff that served me were nice and attentive
P. T.
Very friendly staff, fab food and a beautiful setting, both inside and out
L. D.
Very nice bar terrace on the river would appeal to younger people. Lovely views to enjoy with a glass or two
R. J.
It’s the ship. Not sure you need to know much more than that, but if you wear red trousers, enjoy a high density of mid twenties boys and girls getting their booze on then you will be very at home here.
S. R.
Very nice atmosphere and Burger was fantastic!!!
L. m.
Lovely food with great service in the restaurant. Fab selection for gluten free. Great outdoor area when the weather is nice. Lively at night. Great wee place to have as a local and can't wait to bring my parents next weekend when they are visiting from Scotland!
R. K.
Fantastic place on the river, great bbq great staff.. particularly Kees the main man!
Can’t fail to have a fantastic day all round
K. H.
I give this place 5 star for the location and atmosphere. Great venue for a group of your friends on a sunny day. They have a great burger BBQ menu and the drinks are reasonable priced. You'll need to get there early with your friends on a sunny day to get an outdoor seat on the benches but we'll worth it! Lots of fun.
M. M.
When the weather is nice and sunny, this is perfect place to be: by the river. When sitting outside food offer is limited. Full menu you can get inside. Offer of beer and ale is good. Vibe is urban and rleaxing. During the sunny weekend it's not easy to find sitting spot outside but atmosphere is the best at that time.
E. M.
It’s a bit of a posh boy hangout, if you know what I mean. Staff in the back bar were pretty friendly. They served food until late. Drinks were reasonably priced. It’s right on the river so nice spot overall. The best part is when the DJ comes out and turns the bar / restaurant into a club. Hilarious!
M. B.
Traditional English pub with an outside patio facing the river Thames. Perfect for summer's evenings. The Ship is good for different occasions. Been there for lunch with work colleagues, Sunday Roast with my mum, drinks with friends...
Good food portions for the price they have.
R. L.
Matteo was our server, he had immaculate customer service, excellent attention to detail and reactive service. Requests were met with speed and drinks delivered timely and with a smile. No doubt that Matteo and Chris enhanced our experience at the ship and we had a fabulous bank holiday.
R. S.
Lovely roast dinner. Had the roast beef and it was delicious
S. D.
Tucked away place but worth finding. They have a good roaring fire in the centre of the bar area with good selection.
The restaurant quality I was very impressed by. All 6 of us had very good meals with lovely presentation. Good portion sizes too. I have food allergies and the staff were great in looking after and adjusting. The fish was so tasty.
T. L.
Decent outdoors space, a bit too busy though, would probably be better with one or two fewer tables... Good beer selection outdoors, even better inside. Don't know if the food served inside is better, but I won't be ordering anything from the outdoors kitchen again, it's just overpriced greasy slop.
A. V.

Really nice pub on the bank of Thames. Good quality food and large selection of wines. Plenty of both outdoor and indoor seating. Attentive staff. Gets quite busy on Friday evening so it's a good idea to book in advance, especially if you come with larger group of people.
S. P.
Good pub. The staple dishes like the fish and chips and burgers are pretty good. The more gastro type food isn't up to scratch in my opinion and the menu doesn't change much. The beer section used to be very limited, but they've improved recently and added a couple of craft beers. Overall, a nice place for a drink but not for food.
Also it's best to avoid Saturday and Sunday nights unless you want to mingle with kids who come from miles away to get mashed.
J.
A trendy spot, the beers and burgers were spot on. Service was good, even when it got busy (which it always does).
Y. Y.
My boyfriend and I went for the first time on Sunday evening. We had roast - huge portions, tasty and good prices! Our waitress was Alex, lovely girl , very friendly and she recommended us very good wine and gave us good advise on the food . Then we had drinks at the bar where this gorgeous girl Ribz was working ! Had such a great time and will go back soon !
B. E.
Great pub with a brilliant outside space, get one of the heated cabins if you can, they were so warm we all ended up in T-shirt’s! Service is friendly, try the dirty fries!
M. S.
Lovely sunny afternoon at the Ship, Great atmosphere, lots of fun and good cider.😎🍾
F. N.
Love the vibe of this place, great food, great beer and excellent service, particularly from Ianna who was very pleasant and helpful when serving us. Would defo recommend a visit!!
O. J.
Really nice pub right on the Thames in Wandsworth! I have been in the summer and enjoyed getting sunburnt while drinking beers, but in the winter is just as nice with the cover over the outside area. Burgers and curly fries are amazing!
S. M. O.
I only give this place a 3 star rating because of how good the veggie burger was. My burger came with the wrong toppings after explicitly describing what I want at the bar. One extra piece of cheese isn’t much to ask. I wasn’t upset with that. The upset came when I discovered the mess of the bathrooms (the worst kind), which obviously aren’t manned and the suspicious looking white powder littered in the bathroom stalls. Last straw was when my drink wasn’t made right and the bar maid said to me ‘well changing it is actually I problem but I’ll do it anyway’. She turned away before I got a chance to respond. Has she ever heard of service? It’s a pity because the location is nice and the burger was great.
j. b.
The ship caters for all ages nice pub on the river
C. C.
Newly opened in the hamlet of Hensonville Ny this is a real foodie kind of restaurant and bar. The owners are super nice and definitely dedicated to their craft. They even got my wife to order a special involving curry which is something she usually hates! Loved the dish, very exotic. I had a very well prepared steak Korean style.
J. R.
Came in for a quick pint, Ianna was super lovely and smiley and kept us and our puppy very happy - a superstar!!
I. M.
Great food, good drinks
A. G.
This place is a bit weird and suffers from its own success. The restaurant inside is excellent. My steak was perfect however, ironically, its a bit of a meat market with hoardes of 18-30 getting blotto in the sunshine. There are bouncers controlling every movement, all the outside has those railings etc fence people in or out. So a little schizophrenic. Some will love it, some will see if and avoid like the plague.
F. O.
A cider and medium glass of white wine come to nearly £15, me and my Dad have been reccommend to this place for my birthday meal however when we arrived we chose what we wanted on the menu (really looking forward to it) only to be told there was no chef and they are only doing burgers. Was a shame as we have heard the food is amazing so hopefully will be in the area again soon to try out. Nice outdoor area looking on to the River Thames with plenty of seats.
a. j.
Lovely place to have a drink. Burgers are lovely .

Whilst the pub is now curiously close to a cement works, it is a lovely venue and well worth visiting. They offer a reasonable range of wines and beers, coupled with an interesting menu, good service and clean toilets.Don't be constrained by convention, a range of bar snacks can make a great lunch! But the other dishes are very good.We were well pleased with the experience.

Amazing place to be in the sun and they do such great burgers
B. F.
Love this place, they have a great selection of drinks, including a vegan beer. The food is always fantastic and there is an amazing outside area complete with a barbecue. Perfect on a summers day! I always try and visit when staying in London.

Was looked after by a girl called Mare, she was an actual gem all night. Great girl and would go back to the ship just for Mare. Great pub.
B. B.
Very cute outdoors covered terrace, we sat there under the heaters which kept us more than warn enough. Lots of drinks on their menu had 'coming soon' next to them but they did have some festive drinks like mulled wine!
J. N.
Nice pub, just a little small and as you do on a Saturday night after the rugby is get your dance on in the bar area.I The dining room/ restaurant was great.. and offers table service so no hassle getting food or drinks. Good local if you're in the area.
J. M.
This is without doubt one of the best pubs in London. Right on the waterfront, it has everything, large outdoor space f9r watching sport or BBQ in summer, dining room for sunday lunch, and snug bar, with wood burning stoves and open fires. Best scotch eggs in town too!
C. M.
Nice view but posh prices. Normal for a trendy pub.
M. F.
Amazing riverside pub with fantastic award winning terrace. Great range of drinks and fresh food.
M. M.
Lovely place near the river, but a small aperol spritz 12 pound is a bit exaggerated.

Decent if slightly average looking pub, fine beers, lovely staff and friendly vibe. Good if you're local. Excellent quiz though. Really excellent. Way better than other quizzes. Ignore them. Come and do this one. Wednesdays.

Everyone always talks about The Ship and it didn't disappoint. Good vibes all round! Definitely will visit again.

We had our wedding reception at The Ship - 35 people for the afternoon & sit-down dinner, and the same again for drinks in the evening. It's really difficult to know where to start with the compliments...
No lie, we chose The Ship for the food. We'd had Sunday lunch there before, and Sunday lunch is one of those meals that really let you get the measure of a restaurant. Sunday lunch at The Ship blew us away, and so did the food we and our guests had on the wedding day. It's kinda hard to believe that such a young chef has that much skill. Everything is fresh, perfectly cooked, delicately prepared, and full of balanced flavour. There were more than a few people with no room for wedding cake after the three-course sit down meal.
The people there are also what made it so special. We had a fairly relaxed wedding, but even so, there are things to organise. The team at The Ship was more helpful than we could have hoped for, both before and on the day, and really took the time to make sure everything was running smoothly for us. We had an area out the back reserved for us, and because the pub gets very busy, they had security making sure no one snuck into our area! Simply fantastic - and that's just one example of the ways in which they went above and beyond.
We will most definitely be returning to The Ship - we are just hoping the chef and others stick around for a long time!

Came here for a Sunday roast with a friend. We prebooked and had a lovely table for two in the main restaurant. Very lively and cosy atmosphere and busy with groups of family and friends. We had the pork roast dinner which was delicious and very well presented. The staff seemed nice but quite busy and seemed keen to keep things moving. In general it was a really good pub with very good food. We will definitely be back.

Nice pub in the summer, not so nice in the winter... Not always the best place to go if you want to talk to people as most people are v drunk and loud, it's usually v busy so if you want to get a seat, book in advance or go down early. Having said that, it's always good fun for a cheeky bit of day drinking! (if I could give half stars I would give it 3.5)
T. C.
The pub itself is actually much nicer than some of the clientele it seems to have attracted over the years. Great set of beers, decent garden (if you can find a space among the posers) and really very tasty food!
R. J. S. N.
Good pub with nice river views. Particularly nice during the summer when you can enjoy the outside space. Music good and good drinks - albeit slightly more expensive than the average pub. The curly fries are great!
R. P.
Great pub on the river, lots of outside seating and the great for groups. Food menu was really nice, but a little pricey for what it was... Still, will def be there again when the sun is out... 😎

I spent the late afternoon with some friends at the ship, amazing experience! Specially thanks to Hamish, really professional and friendly guy that made us feel like home!
A.
I really want to love this place, especially on a sunny day... But it somehow can't shake the impression that is a bland nightclub disguised as a cozy boozer. That said, the burgers are phenomenal and the staff was amazing, both of which actually make The Ship worth visiting.

Fantastic access to the river for swimming after 7/8 pints
J. P.
A good Sunday roast which was really filling! The drinks were good and they have a good selection of ales on tap and in bottles. Overall a nice place to go with family or friends for a chilled weekend meal.
C. K. J.
I had a quite wonderful lunch here with a pint and my sketchpad. Great memory.

First time in this amazing english pub in battersea and i absolutely love it; staff very friendly, nice selection of beers and i love the nachos, also had some deserts and it was great! coming back for sure!!

Great service, perfect for all tastes and ages. Cosy fire in the winter whilst enjoying plenty of daylight if sitting in the conservatory for lunch. Good barbecue and outside seating area by the river in the summer. Friendly staff, very attentive to dietary requirements etc. Strongly recommended. A very well run local.
B. E.
A lovely gem of a place by the river. It really shines during summer, but it's also a real treat in the winter with its fireplace and conservatory. Great selection of local ales and beers on tap and decent grub. Well worth a visit.
D. W.
This pub is much bigger than anticipated. There is a bar area, a casual dining and bar area, main restaurant (with 3 private rooms), and an outside beer garden and burger bar. We decided to try it because the menu on line looked really good, but we were quite disappointed with the actual menu on the night we went as it didn't appear as interesting. That said, the food we had was delicious and well presented. Service was ok. I think we had someone on a trial shift to start. They couldn't find the wine we wanted, but a bottle was found in the cellar. Left with a better impression that when we arrived. Will defo go back again.
R. N.
The pub bar was quieter than the rest of the place which made it a good place to talk. The range of draught beers available was alright, but felt a bit like a uni party when our drinks were handed to us in plastic cups (really?) Have to assume that says something about their usual clientele.
Food from the carvery section of the menu was good, although someone forgot to hand in the order for the third in our party, so she had to wait extra time.
Good evening had by three!

One of my favourite places to come when the weather is nice as the outdoor area is quite nice (and the food less expensive). The indoor restaurant is also delicious with a great atmosphere, though the food is a bit pricey for a chain pub. Still, Young's is pretty consistently strong, and this is no exception.
T. “. F.
There is an outside section and inside a Friday summers night it is packed and buzzing but there only serve bbq food outside so we ate inside. We Waited a while for our food but it was really nice. I recommend the macaroni cheese side and pork belly dish. The staff can sometimes forget about you which was the major set back. I will be going back.
P. M.
This pub is amazing...! Amazing views, great selection of beers and wine and the people are always nice and friendly. Make sure you go there especially in the summer!
T. B.
I've known this pub for many years and just think it has been over developed. I'm sure it makes loads of money and is great on a sunny day packed with 20 to 35 year olds but it's fairly characterless on a weekday lunchtime when it's nearly empty. Food ok but quite expensive good range of beer. One word of warning there is a cement works opposite so a lot of big mixer trucks in and out all day which is fairly unpleasant and parking minimal.
N. V.
Really nice pub! The place is lovely and the staff is reactive and enthusiastic.
S. R.
We regularly visit The Ship, and were delighted to be a part of their 187th anniversary. As usual, the atmosphere was buzzing and this was largely due to the live band playing some great tunes that everyone could dance to. A free slice of chocolate cake to get the celebrations underway went down very well with everyone.
The food is always great, whether it is a burger and fries or something more refined, you can guarantee that The Ship offers something for everyone, and this is the secret of its success!
R. P.
Great place to enjoy the sunshine and enjoy the view. Burger shack there sells medium rare burgers so make sure you state you want them well done before you pay. ;) We found one of our burgers to be very rare (I.e. Not done) apart from that all good. Staff are friendly too.
A. B.
The outdoor area is quite large and about half of it is uncovered wooden tables, and the other half is a covered area that has both wooden tables and several booths that fit around 10 people. It started raining halfway through the night and people were able to move under cover quite easily, and some moved inside where there is a proper dance floor and decent music.
J. M.
Bit expensive and not too many options (at least when you're sitting outside, inside they do have more options...)
They only keep reservations for 2hours which is really weird. In general okay place, near the river and sitting inside/outside.
They have vegetarian and vegan options
M. L.
Good food for a good price, HUGE portions. Don't have anything bad to say about this place. Big kudos to the Asian lady who served us, very nice and polite.
S. S.
Fantastic river-side pub in what is essentially a hidden pocket of Wandsworth. You could be forgiven for being put off by the ugly roundabout and adjacent factory you have to pass to get here, but all is forgiven when you see the location and wide range of outdoor riverside seating.
Has a large variety of indoor rooms and a formal restaurant too (in addition to the takeaway barbecue on the river terrace) and can be relied upon for a cracking roast. Definitely one of the very best riverside pubs in central London and you can expect it to be packed on any given sunny summer weekend.
If my review was helpful to you, please give me a thumbs up 👍🏼 Thanks!

What a place. I’m not sure if it’s possible to say you’ve been to London if you haven’t enjoyed a couple to many ice cold wets on a Sunday with the sun beaming into your face. This fine establishment has been doing what they’ve been doing long before Brexit and will continue to do so for the future no matter what dumbo Johnson gets up to

A massive pub with a sizeable river side outdoor area and an excellent selection of cask and keg ales. There's usually two food outlets, one serving (really good) standard pub fare and the outside grill section serving tasty burgers. The clientele all look like they earn more in a week than I do in a year but I guess that's inverse snobbery.
J. C.
The food here is amazing! Would strongly recommend the brisket sandwich. Really nice staff too. Food is slightly more £££ than some pubs but it was worth it. They don't scrimp on the portions either.
C. D.
the staff were really great and helpful couldn’t fault them. The pub is so gorgeous, right on the river and I love the island bar! A large selection of drinks I would definitely recommend this pub to everyone!
T. W.
An excellent pub by the riverside to try some quality Young's Ales.

Always love Youngs pubs . Interior design perfect like at any of the Youngs pubs.
Deliciously cooked food and grill , friendly staff, great location by the river Thames. Gorgeous beer garden where you can sit down right by the river. Tasty ales . Recommend it to anyone who loves nice views, food , ales , atmosphere and have a great time with family and friends.

Nice pub but a bit expensive

Traditional English pub with an outside patio facing the river Thames. Perfect for summer's evenings. The Ship is good for different occasions. Been there for lunch with work colleagues, Sunday Roast with my mum, drinks with friends...
Good food portions for the price they have.

Great spot and lovely on a sunny day. Outdoor furniture needs an upgrade though. Staff very helpful.

Mare was the best waitress!

Nice pub, manky area
Good food
Air conditioning inside is a godsend when it’s hot

It use to have a better selection of food. Especially on a warm day. 25yrs ago 4 star. But still up there in my votes.

Sarah N deserves a pay rise

Really nice pub on the bank of Thames. Good quality food and large selection of wines. Plenty of both outdoor and indoor seating. Attentive staff. Gets quite busy on Friday evening so it's a good idea to book in advance, especially if you come with larger group of people.
L. L.
Nice location and decor but 15 quid for a pimms and lemonade and a beer is a bit much! Think they ripping the arse out of it a bit because its by the river but its nice for a special occasion in the summer. Burgers were good
J. B.
VERY busy on a Tuesday evening when the sun was out. Great outdoor seating area next to the river. Atmsosphere was great apart from the bouncers shushing people who dared try and sing "It's coming home!"
B. L.
Great food and service in lovely surroundings. The security staff are always super friendly!
S. Z.
This pub was such a cool find! On a nice day grab a pint, sit outside and enjoy London. Great selection of beers on tap and whilst I didn't eat the menu looked delightful.
B. A.
A good mix of corner pub, restaurant and out door BBQ in summer. Great quiz on Wednesdays.
One of the best burgers in London. The scotch eggs are rather good too. The usual Young's beer.
R. S.
Food was good but the service was even better! Christine is a credit to the team, went above and beyond for us.
R. L.
I love this pub, the food is great, the staff are great, the atmosphere is great. I was disappointed not to see the pork belly and cabbage last time I went and I have no idea why they've changed to the burger shack outside when their bbq used to be hands down the best in London. It's still great otherwise though.

Came in yesterday and it was such great service, especially to Ianna who did so well serving us with a smile even in the rain - will come again!!
A. F.
Fantastic outdoor space with plenty of drinks and food options. Best on a Sunday afternoon. Busy but tolerable and you never know, you might bump into your favourite Instagram influencer!! :)
K. C.
Great spot with a nice view of the river, friendly staff and fast service
A. G.
Probably one of the best pubs in London. Summer drinks by the river is a must and in the winter nice warm restaurant. If you are around the area you should check it out.
E. P.
Had a lovely experience, staff was amazing, specially Mare, made us feel very welcome, couldn’t ask for better service, lovely.
E. Y.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, enjoyed evening drinks with my colleagues.
K. M.
We went along for the pub quiz which was innovative and good fun and the bar was never too busy to get served either. Nicely located on the river so imagine it's good in the summer also.
J. K.
Busy pub even on a thursday night. Staff are very friendly and happy to help a rare thing these days.
You could feel the warmth an glee in the log burning fired atmosphere, with the logs being the only fake thing about this gastro pub a my oh my so many jolly faces.. looking forward to dining here soon.. ps the neck oil beer is fantabulous.
A. H.
Without a doubt a great pub which offers more than just friendly atmosphere and delicious food but pub quizzes and other form of entertainment. Probably it's best feature is the riverside location.
The BBQ is absolutely awesome and you get to hear your order number called out on the megaphone which I especially like.
The only thing that I slightly disliked was the fact that one of my burger's buns fell apart while I was eating which caused some trouble but apart from that it was one of the best burgers I've ever had.
M. A.
Very popular pub for poshies, geezers and just peeps looking for a pub by the river that has loud helicopters overhead. Good food, plus a burger bar and outside bars and TVs for sport. Nice selection of beers and lagers.
M. C.
Great vibes and atmosphere, lots of outdoor seating, Hamish on the door is super helpful!
E. C.
Attended a birthday meal here and the staff were great - really flexible and friendly. Food was nice and it was an unexpected treat to see vegan STP on the dessert menu!
M. J. P.
Even if the outdoor area is literally attached to some sort of concrete refinery, this place gets incredibly crowded when the weather allows it. So crowded that sometimes they had to close it for safety reasons.
Slightly better than average beer selection (it's part of the Young's chain), pub food and grill. I would define the average customer as youngish and affluent (and completely drunk during the weekend afternoons). But that's what you want to be in the Battersea Reach area...
M. V.
Excellent pub with great food. Outside seating is on the Thames. Just a shame to the cement factory next door.
Food is excellent and we had fast service over lunchtime.
J. T.
Great food and friendly staff
L. S.
Average experience, we booked a table and were kept waiting 20 minutes to be seated. Food was okay a tad over priced.
Good location next to the river
F. E.
This one definitely lives up to its description of "gastropub." They must have gotten a new chef or revised their menu in recent months because the food has stepped up a notch and is now outstanding - with presentation and the rest. You would probably pay 1.5 times the price for similar quality cuisine in downtown London. The atmosphere is shabby-chique with a glass surrounded room letting in the little light we have in the UK, and a hearty wood fire in the middle of the room. There is also a separate dining area for those who prefer the more classy feel.
J. W.
Great fish & chips. Staff are friendly and efficient, and seem to take COVID regulations seriously
