Reviews of The Signal Pub

Really lovely local pub with everything you could ask for: ales on tap, many beers, extensive wine list, and a fantastic food menu. The pies are a real treat and are presented beautifully.
Lovely welcoming atmosphere that’s perfect for a casual get together with friends.
I loved the quirky features of the pub like the small steam engine in a glass display box, and the train time display behind the bar so you have one less excuse for missing the last train!
Friendly and helpful staff too. What’s not to like?!

Great selection of gin and booze, some good house cocktails.
Really good Sunday roast, even tho they forgot my Yorkshire pudding! The manager was there and was excellent. Great service, knowledgeable, attentive.
Sadly, we went back for food on a Tuesday night and my dishes were disappointing. Tacos (£6 each!) and duck leg salad were all a bit cold and dry. And the ice cream was pretty lame and overpriced for £6.50.
There was only 3 of us and the rest of the pub was quiet.
The staff weren’t great. One member was brand new and basically didn’t know anything. Fine. The other was bussing empty tables rather than taking away our dirty plates. My gf even took some dirty plates up and left them on the bar and they still didn’t get the hint.
TLDR: poor service, disappointing food, good drinks. I will deffo give them the benefit of the doubt and go back again.

Visited for the first time in years, last time was when it was the Hobgoblin. Nice decor, good music playing. Greeted by friendly knowledgeable staff who recommended the vegan tacos which are nice & a good size. Also had the cheeseburger which was cooked perfectly with a nice onion marmalade. For dessert we ordered the sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream & the pear sorbet (recommended for pear lovers). Finally the espresso Martini's, of which my partner raved about & had quite a few :). A nice touch is the electronic trainstation timetable behind the bar, you can enjoy a pint safe in the knowledge you are not going to miss your train.

What a most delightful pub, opposite Forest Hill station. Say your prayers before crossing, it is the South circular! Lovely beer (Cold on a Hot day!) And wonderful staff. Tried using the app but didn't spot the table number, small but on the qr code tile. So, looked like a Muppet but just for a moment! A good looking selection on the food specials board. A very enjoyable visit. Give it a try. PS. Loved the ex industrial lamps above the bar + the train departure board behind the bar is a real treat, even if I missed one to have an extra pint!

At 14:30 on a Sunday afternoon the pub/restaurant was quite busy. Many families with small children. The food and atmosphere were good although the service time could be improved. Would recommend.

Loved the wednesday burger special (free wings & extra pattie)! Chips were perfect, burger was huge & delicious. The wings came with a sweet sauce that was really unique so worth a try even by themselves. Such a cosy pub with a lovely atmosphere and cute decor, definitely recommend. There's also free comedy on every third Wednesday of the month!

Favourite pub in the area. Pub grub but we're talking next level. Staff always great. Definitely recommend. 10/10

The Signal managed to squeeze us in for the Euros England vs Ukraine match on Saturday. Service was excellent and beer/snacks were tasty. We had a fun night 😁⚽️🙌

Went there for an early supper with the kids more out of convenience than desire but really enjoyed our visit. Kids both had tasty vegan meals, and they didn't even realise! I had a really well cooked rotisserie chicken salad and my partner had Vegan tacos. Both meals were great. Good choice of beers, not just the usual suspects. Would have given it a five but my only gripe was despite not being busy there very no kid friendly tables left.
