Reviews of The Sir John Oldcastle

It is the best weatherspoons I ever been to, just because of the best taste of the food. Also the effort of the stuffs to get you a good quality food of your taste. All the time I found the right temperature food with right sides. The portions also been in appropriate manner. during my last visit I wanted the vagenary burger but it was unavailable so they suggested me the vegetarian option and I loved it. The toilet are clean. The pub it self has its own history. Hope you will enjoy your visit ☺️

What a heavenly decor with flowers. Make me feel wonderful to b there. Just out of Farringdon station so yeah easy access. Beer choice is always normal. Not much variety of craft beer but good for cask. Huge seating area n outdoor seating too. Staff is good. Busy most of the time so u can’t say service is not good. Food was fine n cheap. Had good time there.

We're from New Mexico but visit London as often as possible. I get that this pub is "just a Wetherspoons" but this particular spot is one of our family favorites. We often stay near by and while the night time crowd can get a bit full and noisy it's not horrible. And for our family of five we've never had a bad experience eating or visiting here, some happy family memories have taken place in this pub. During our last stay in London (mid November 2021) the day time servers were great, the holiday decor was a nice touch and we're looking forward to our next visit.

It's a Spoons. Corona on tap was a lovely surprise. Managed to get served immediately. Plenty of seating although we just managed to secure the only free table. Food was the normal standard which isn't too bad for the price.

Very busy, but what do you expect, it was Friday! The pub looks posh on the outside, well done, but much more like an average establishment once you step indoors. I didn't try the food but what I saw looked pretty decent and generous portions.

This was a very pleasant visit to this top quality Wetherspoons. Excellent beer, quick friendly and cheerful service. Another very clean and well kept branch here. Highly recommended by a very satisfied customer.

It’s a Wetherspoons, but an exceptional one when it comes to the food. It was fully packed when I went with my husband, but we were lucky to get a table just when we were about to look for another place.
The veggie curry with spinach and cauliflower was such a delight. It went well with the garlic naan, poppadoms and rice. It was served hot too and the portion was generous.
My husband enjoyed his fish and chips too. The fish was fresh and the batter was seasoned well. The chips were amazing.
The atmosphere was nothing fancy and that’s alright. We’ll definitely go back for the food.

The best wheatherspoons in Farringdon. Cheap drinks and the food was good. I was going to give them a 4 as they did not have a lot of stock when I last went. But previous to that there has never been an issue. Been here quite a few times and will still be going back.

A short walk from Farringdon station and close to the jewellery shops in Hatton Garden.
I’ve visited a different times of the day and different days of the week, and have found the service to be consistently good.
One problem I have come across in Wetherspoons is when you order a meal with the app, and that includes a guest ale, you don’t get the beer you chose. The receipt just shows ‘Guest Ale’, so you have no proof of what you ordered.
This problem has never occurred at this pub.
As of writing this review, Christmas can be celebrated with Christmassy menu options such as a bacon and chicken panini (with stuffing and cranberry sauce), washed down with a pint of Bath Festivity, 5% ‘dark ruby colour, rich and complex’. Lovely.

Nice sized pub, just a 2 minute walk from Farringdon Station. The staff was very polite and welcoming also helpful with the recommendations on what to eat a drink. They got a wide range of alcohol to choose from. Lovely amosphere and decor with relaxing music playing in the background. Iwould be definitely visiting the Oldcastle again soon.
