Reviews of The Vine
J. H.
Had a beautiful Christmas Dinner at The Vine today. All the food and wine was excellent, portions were extremely generous and the service was also wonderful. All for 75 a head which is fantastic value for money. Would definitely recommend!
D. C.
Absolutely perfect scotch egg,as pictured..
Lager selection on tap was on point as well.
Service was great on the two separate occasions I've been. Babs and Almon. I hope I've got the names right. Always have done a great job with a friendly smile and made me feel very welcome as I was greeted on arrival. Establishment was very clean throughout. Keep up the good work. I would highly recommend a visit..
D. B.
Absolutelt excellent. What a nice change to not have to book a table weeks in advance. We rocked up with 4 kids and they were able to fit us in. Lovely attitude and service. Food was terrific too - highlights were the Charter Pie, Katsu curry and sharing brie. Would definitely recommend as has something for everyone.
K. T.
Great pub, very big & with many different areas for you to choose, the front patio area is a welcome addition. Inside is a large bar room with sports TV, there is a side bar & dining room to the rear, upstairs has grand function rooms for hire.
J. K.
Fantastic pub with incredible service and lovely food. The staff were so friendly and attentive, they really made the evening feel very special. Would highly recommend them for event bookings or just for the food and drink selection! 10/10

We held our wedding reception at the Vine in September 2021and had a brilliant experience with Ana, Marc, Hollie, Magda and the team. From the designing, planning, tasting and the hosting on the night itself the pub was a fantastic venue and our wedding reception ran like a dream. The food (Sunday roast served as a buffet) was fantastic and guests all commented on how delicious it was, service was quick and easy and nothing was too much of a problem for them. We highly recommend the pub for events, parties and weddings!
J. S.
Excellent food. Dog friendly. Very laid back feeling, and no rushing you out of the door when you have finished.
F. C.
One of the best Sunday Roast we've ever had and the Charter pie was really tasty. The pub is lovely and we loved the outside area, also the waiter was really nice. Thank you!
S. M.
Excellent pub. The beef roast was one of my favourite ever! The outside terrace is a nice place to relax and have lunch with dividers to separate the tables.
L. B.
Nice larger pub/bar. Good service. Shuffleboard tables. Elevated pub fare. Beer selection pretty good.
O. G.
We came in for food at 17:40 on a Saturday. The pub was half empty, but the hostess claimed there were no free tables and was not interested in our business. What a disgrace.
M. P.
Brilliant and friendly service, prompt food arrival, nice selection of drinks and lovely garden area.
The buffalo wings with celery and blue cheese sauce was devine, nice and crispy (not hot though)
Went for the cheeseburgers which were huge and came with nice skin on fries. Relish was great and burger flavour nice. Only slight criticism was it was a wee bit overdone for my liking but couldn't fault the taste of anything.
Definitely going back to try the vegan burger and fish and chips :)
A. P.
Performed some stand up in the upstairs room. Amazing night with tonnes of talented acts for what might be one of the best comedy nights on a Tuesday night in London.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the drinks great.
It would be a shame for anyone to give this pub a miss.
J. J.
The Sunday roasts are incredible. Would recommend going in on a Sunday. They have table games too which I have yet to play. Nice pub! Maybe a place to go to after visiting Hampstead Heath Park.
M. S.
An almost perfect culinary experience. I had the charter pie was as hearty and filling as you could wish for, my only qualms were with the greens which should have been seasoned or buttered; and the gravy which was a little on the watery side (this is more of a preference thing though). My girlfriend loved the steak and the chimichurri - this is a big deal because she HATES onions.
As far as negatives go, we had to wait a little bit longer than expected around 40ish minutes (having said that I'm not a chef, so I don't know if this is just how long it takes to put the food together). Another teeny tiny problem was that they had ran out of broccoli so we couldn't get the chilli and garlic broccoli.
All these negatives are very, very small and this shouldn't put you off going to a lovely restaurant with very hospitable staff and reasonable prices.
P. H.
Very cosy pub, helpful, friendly staff, great food, lovely outdoor smoking area
E. T.
Lovely pub with friendly staff and loads of outdoor seating. Delicious food and great range of cocktails if the mood takes you. Otherwise, solid range of beers.
G. K.
Been a few times. Lovely pub. Beautiful garden. Fab food with generous portions and most importantly, very friendly staff. Highly recommend!
J. H.
Lovely place. Beautiful decor and location. Great food too
C. B.
We had a party for our wedding at the vine. They made the process really easy and the staff we fantastic! They rented us out the whole place and we bought in our own decorations. The management made life easy with organising drinks and food. The whole thing was really superb!!!
I. R.
Great food! Loved the atmosphere and the staff were very friendly! Sadly it is so great that everyone thinks so too so was very overcrowded ! Would deffinately go back. Fantastic on a summer's day or for a quiet drink
J. D.
Great food and service. This place is great for a Sunday afternoon, having a roast and playing scrabble.
s. H.
Great visit today! Marc was very attentive and look after all our group needs. Would definitely recommend the vine to friends and family.
D. B.
Very generous portion sizes. Excellent pie. Amazing outdoor patio. Strongly recommend!
A. F.
The Sunday roast was out of this world. If I could leave more than 5 stars I would. People, you have to try it, go for the trio. The service is on point also.
J. H.
It's more of a food pub than a straightforward pubby sort of pub but the vegetarian Sunday roasts are good, and there's plenty of outdoor seating.
C. B.
Second visit and it was even better than the first one. Had some food this time and the staff were really on point. Very helpful and attentive. A great evening out that not even an almighty downpour managed to spoil. Highly recommend
N. J.
Beautiful pub. Food is very good and the staff was very attentive and friendly. Will visit again
k. s.
Good choice of beer and food. Staff helpful and friendly.
A. P.
Really great place! They have an awesome beer selection, good food (especially for a pub - the halloumi fries are incredible), and the space itself is really nice with the terrace etc. Importantly they do a really good job in terms of safety with social distancing measures etc, while also still being friendly. However, what really stands out is the level of service you get here and how nice/friendly the staff are - this has been consistent over the last 4 visits we've made which is why I wanted to leave a review. Bonus points is they are dog friendly and always give our puppy a treat when we come by (changing gloves after every time given covid). Definitely recommend stopping here for a great pint and good food.
E. W.
Great beer garden and most of the food was tasty (roasted salmon was great as was the aubergine starter) but there was a significant delay to the food arriving due to a back up in the kitchen which would have been fine if staff had communicated this sooner.
T. P.
Lovely roast dinner, however ask to be seated away from the billiard table. There were kids on it when we was there and noise was horrendous, parents took no notice of the disruption to diners nearby. But other than that it's a good pub. Great in the summer as its has lovely outside area.
M. K.
Great service and lovely friendly staff. Selection of Sumner drinks are lush and not overpriced. Will definitely be going back and recommending this pub to others
K. N.
Lovely pub, food was delicious.
Lived locally for years and didn't know this was here. We sat outside was lit up lovely. we were very lucky it was a mild dry night.
Staff are great considering all the new guidelines . Will definitely visit again.
N. S.
Good food and friendly service. This is a gastropub, so the menu is a bit fancier than normal pub fare, which I consider to be The Vine's main draw. Outside dining area is large and organised. Great option when in Kentish Town.
E. s.
Very friendly staff who were excellent at explaining the social distancing measures that were in place. The drinks took a bit longer to come than expected but nice to be back in a nice pub with good staff. Pints are quite standard London price, maybe on the higher end. Didn't eat.
Updated: We have since come back to eat and it was very unremarkable (and not cheap for it!), and the service was very slow. Stick to drinking here!
A. F.
Always a nice place to head out to. Great location, lovely staff and always a welcoming visit.
J. H.
The Vine, what a great find! Staff friendly and welcoming. Social distancing measures in place, entrance and exit separate, card payments only, track and trace app to be completed once seated. Lots of outside space some under cover. Enjoyed the huge portions of Pork Belly Sunday roast and my friend the Fish & Chips. Definitely recommend a visit:-)
F. S.
Lovely pints near Parliament hill and Kentish town. The pub gets busy sometimes but there's usually always still space somehow. Although a touch on the expensive side, it's a great place for catching up over a few pints, some good pub food and if you want to play the shuffle board, book in advance
A. V.
Wonderful atmosphere with even better food. I highly recommend the fish and chips!
F. V.
Great pub! Very nice atmosphere, the rooms are not crammed with tables as many other pubs, which makes it not too noisy even in the weekends. The beer selection is decent, nothing too fancy but a few good beers. Food is very good, although a bit scarse in my opinion (especially ridiculous the half spoon of mashed potatoes that comes with most mains - literally a bite!). And the nice patio outside is definitely a plus!
R. F.
A cosy pub in Kentish town with indoor and outdoor seating. Pretty quick service. Can get busy during the summer.
K. W.
Staff are great, Holly is amazing with her regular customers and remembered I was starting a new job and asked a few weeks later how it was going
D. S.
Spaceous and fairly neat, but bit overpriced. Not sure about the food but selection looks good.
C. D.
A nice pub. Looks to have been recently refurbished to a high standard. Great beer garden out front with lots of space. Food was good though a bit pricey - £13 for a veggie burger. Dog friendly they will give your four legged friend water and a treat
N. G.
This place is absolutely to die for! Staff are absolutely amazing and chat to everyone. All have different personalities which makes this place what it is.
I love the new menu items as well as a meat eater having a full vegetarian meal is scary to myself however I love the new spring risotto and mac & cheese croquettes. Absolutely would recommend to anyone and everyone!
The GN and Management team are amazing and deserve a round of applause for twhat they're doing during these times, so well done guys!!
M. M.
Very nice and comfortable
Staff really worked hard to please you
R.
Good pub, long bar and quite a few beers available. Home made Pork Pies and Sausage Rolls are good albeit expensive.
Nice seating area outside with several entrances into the bar.
Looked like good food.
Will certainly go back when in the area.
N. B.
Lovely pub with nice vibe and good-sized terrace. Was very quiet when I went on a Monday in January. I had the buttermilk fried chicken burger and it was a bit of a disappointment, the burger was kind of cold and the chicken was not too crispy. Would recommend this place for a drink, but for dinner you're better off going opposite to Pizza East, Dirty Burger, or the Chicken Shop.
G. H.
We came here for a friend's baby shower. We had the private room upstairs which was plenty big enough and the staff came to see us regularly to keep our drinks topped up. The food was good, but there was the odd item missing off some of the roasts.
P. W.
I liked it- definitely go back! Nice looking place old and new together...They do food even though we didn't eat I could see other ppls and looked very nice big fat chips and generous portions- although the prices are a little steep like £9 approx for fish finger sandwich or pancakes with maple syrup for the same price! They have pub games like a huge jenga at the bar or shuffle board during the week for a cost off peak £5 and full for £10 per half hour and they also have comedy nights too! Theres also a beer garden at the front
D.
Consistently good, but nothing standout to make it fantastic. Typical selection of beers for this part of the world and always pretty busy in Thurs / Fri / Sat nights. Not a cozy place in winter because the door everyone goes out through to smoke doesn’t automatically swing closed so there is a near-constant draft. Bar staff are polite, helpful and speedy.
Y. A.
stumbled upon this place since Parliament Hill Cafe closed down and we were looking for somewhere to eat with two kids in tow. it was surprisingly good - indoor and outdoor (albeit close to the road) seating, lots of board games, and good pub fare. really enjoyed my burger. and the staff were super helpful
J.
Came here with a couple of friends to enjoy the the shuffle boards. We've never played before but had a great time. Staff come over and give you a quick low down on how to play and what to do. The rules are in a frame behind the boards. Good cheap fun for an evening out. I think the price was roughly £20 for an hour, which isn't too bad. Large array of drinks and you can also grab a bite to eat. Would recommend!
I. P.
Food was amazing. Service lacked a little. Still got a smile though. Just staff seem to be struggling with all the covid 19 restrictions. Making it difficult. Wouldn't stop me going again though.
R. H.
Good pub. Okay food although changes quite a bit so you might have more luck. Drinks selection is okay. Atmoaphere is good but indoors can be too loud. Nice beer garden in summer.
l. c.
Nice neighborhood pub with an excellent beer selection and a restaurant that offers a good range of food. Great terrace out the front and private room booking options. The prices aren't cheap but that's standard in nice pub in this part of London
L. J.
I eat here very regularly and usually never have any issues, only ever having sent back 1 roast. However on Sunday 20th the place was a shambles! Ordered drinks, followed by food, only to be told the kitchen had too many orders and they weren’t taking anymore for the time being... 45 mins later, food was dropped on our table, wrong and without cutlery. Went to the bar to ask for some, to which the bartender replied “we’re all out” again, very odd also. Some was brought over shortly after. Quality of beef is hit and miss, and today was VERY fatty. But after such a wait I just ate around the gristle and picked it out of my teeth on the way home...
R. M.
Good food and a large choice of beers and spirits. Lovely calm atmosphere. Nice seating inside and out if warm enough.
Decor is old but in keeping with and old public house.
E. F.
Very good service, friendly staff. Bit overpriced.
R.
Even though it was busy when we arrived a staff member came to us and after a very quick sign in with an app we were shown to a table.great service from smiley staff members and most off all the distancing and cleanliness made us feel really safe.
We will be back again!!
J. S.
Three of us spent 2 beautiful hours in lunchtime. Hot summer day, they have a big street side terrace, but we stayed inside the shadow. One of us has special needs, but the staff was patient, friendly and professional.
The menu is not long, but everyone can get something really mouthwatering food. Vegetarians like me as well. We tried some Small plates (or starters): Guacamole with cracker bread, Halloumi fries with harissa yoghurt with pomegranate, and Samosas with sweet potato, pea purée and spring onion. For the Main I tried the Vegan Burger, which was pricey (£13.5), but one of the best in my life. The elderflower squash was great again, and the final Espresso was strong as I like that. I was totally stuffed, but couldn't miss the dessert. The sticky toffee pudding with coconut icecream was a good choice, however after all these hard to imagine any bad choices in this place.
O. S.
Friendly, welcoming staff and atmosphere. Beautiful outdoor drinking area which attracted us on our way to the heath! Didn't eat, but we enjoyed a beer from a good selection!
D. S.
Brilliant pub to drink in, great beer garden out front and decor inside excellent. Staff always lovely. Let down by food - average and pricey.
R. W.
The drink selection wasn't extensive but a nice range of beers, including Beavertown's Neck Oil on tap. The shuffle board is lots of fun, still no "hangers" after 90 minutes playing! What let's this place down is the food and lack of communication between the kitchen and bar staff. I've eaten their three times recently and everytime, someone from my party has ordered and paid for a particular menu item, some with strict dietary requirements, only to be told 5 minutes later that they don't actually have any. The beef burger is dry and insipid, the chicken burger seems to be fried in cornflakes, and the peer salad is half a pack of halloumi with 2 thin slices of pear and a token stem of lambs Lettuce.
I have not tried the ribs, but apparently they were excellent. I'm sure I'll be forced to eat their again soon, so maybe I can update after a baby back...
D. R.
I was here for a wedding reception, had a thoroughly great time, service was exceptional considering the number of people that was here.
K. H.
Booked for Mothers Day , free glass of Prosecco for ua mums and a bag containing a lovely tulip,a face mask and a nail polish....a lovely touch!
Our table was ready almost right on time and the food was really nice .The family had a roast ..roast belly pork ,beef and chicken and i had the sea bass in a crab cream.sauce with crushed buttery new potaoes .
Service was average but it was very busy (the staff all.worked so hard!)
The chocolate was to die for too!!
All in all it made for a lovely mothers day lunch .Thank you to the staff . My first time in The Vine for almost 20 years ....i wont leave it that long again!!

In response to the unfair review below regarding being asked to not eat your own food in an establishment that clearly serves food...
I am saddened to see a bad review based purely on a customer's inappropriate behaviour!
I would never bring my own food or drink into an establishment, clearly selling these items - And even then I'd be courteous enough to check first.
Having been in the trade for 10 years myself, I would also have responded in this same and fair manor - And feel the review in question us unjust and should therefore be removed.
I would have thought this would be basic common sense on the customer's behalf.
I don't know any customers who would assume this would be ok either. I also know of many other places that would have asked them to leave immediately and warn of a ban if this was repeated - So I for one believe they were treated very fairly.
This is a fantastic pub, I have yet to have experienced anything other than friendly, welcoming service mixed with great food, fantastic drinks selection and a lovely atmosphere.... And this is what I am basing my review on.
J. P.
I loved the experience really friendly staff, great atmosphere considering the circumstances currently.
Very well laid out and protocol adhered to in a polite manner.
Altogether a nice experience.
N. M.
Lovely airy gastro pub in Kentish town. Nice outdoor seating area and good menu. Sunday roast is great and pretty reasonable compared to some of the other local pubs.
D. P.
Nicely done up, clean and modern. Service was adequate.
Went for lunch: the pasta was tiny, the size of a starter at £7.50!
And the coke was watery and weak at £3.10 for a glass!
RIP OFF - not worth it, Italian restaurant (Rosella's) across the road better food and quantities - main and drink for £6!!!
s.
I was goring to go for 3 as it didn't really stand out for me, but then you star thinking of all the ways its accommodated people. Like the time it was freezing outside but you always have that one smoker who want to sit outside, and sure enough there's sits outside with those sun umbrellas but it was protecting us from the rain and it even had a heater but only one was working that night. The sits by the loo or was it a stand and we just made do because it was so packed. Have meetings upstairs, pool table drinks flowing whats not to like.
H. S.
I have been going to The Vine for over a year.
The people always remember be there by name, and remember what I drink!
So rare nowadays, especially in London, for places to be like that.
I used to work in the building opposite, but no longer, and I still return to the Vine every now and then and they remember me!
I will keep on coming back.
Good food and drinks too
A. K.
Its a cosy, family and pet friendly place with a usual crowd from the offices nearby. Lovely staff, good food, one of the best vegan burgers around, good choice of gins and beer. X
P. B.
A nicely relaxed location for Sunday lunch just a short walk (easier to drive) from Hampstead Heath. The vegetarian and vegan dishes were clearly 'work in progess'. Already good, they have the potential to improve even more. Clear allergen information but the gluten free options need a gravy. In the future this will be 'the place' to go!
L.
Beautiful place in Camden. Can sit outside and inside. Had a very good vegan burger. Prices are a little higher than expected but still ok
A. P.
Fantastic meal, both main and dessert. Waitress made me taste the day's special Ale selection before ordering. Professional!
Definitely five stars!
J. A.
The drinks can be a tad pricey but the atmosphere is great! Love the way this pub is presented. Shame I'm not local.
E. A.
Used to go there for the life drawing classes upstairs on a Monday.
The food is pretty decent (have tried a few of the burgers) and the staff are generally very friendly.
M. C.
Yeah the Vine is back to what it always should be. Good beer and food. Love the new sun terrace. They seem to have put a lot of effort into getting this pub just rite and I think it has paid off. Nice for after work relaxation.
K. H.
Probably the best butter chicken burger I've had in a while😊If being picky would have preferred chunky triple cooked chips. French fries always seem sad to me ☹️
I. Q.
If you work closeby and are reading this review... JUST GET IN.
If you are new to the area, yes, this is a post-work hang for many of those employed in the vicinity. Decent whiskey collection, friendly bar staff. Boardgames and Jenga available. As well as buckets for when you have drunk too much.
Great outdoors sitting area.
A. P.
Nice pub with seat inside and outside , really good customer service and really good food. They have 2 shuffleboard table, very interesting and fun game , absolutely to try with the friends.
A. C.
I came with my family and we really enjoyed it. good food and fast service. Thanks to all the staff and in particular to faty, beyond the good service. we'll be back!
F. B.
Lovely bbq popup. Improving on the wine list!
C. W.
Part of a birthday meal in the private function room 'The Camden Room' - excellent and fast service for a party of 20, good food and drink selection and pleasant staff. Overpriced - bottle of house rose cost £18, not what you expect from a pub trying to come across as a 'country local'
N. H.
Excellent sweet potato fries. Although the range of beers is good, it seems like their taps could do with cleaning, 2 of the beers were very "copper" tasting on the last visit.
S. P. P.
Can't understand the upset of being asked not to eat your own food. This is a great pub with great food so why the need to bring your own. Would you go into Costa and then take out a thermos of coffee?!!!
T. N.
Good beer garden, decent pub with attentive staff. Watch out for the tap in the mens toilet - it only runs scalding hot!!!
C. M.
The Vine is a nice place to visit, especially on a summer's day, haven't tried the food yet but it looks great, I'd like to try the small plates. We had a couple of jugs of Pimms which was nice but on the expensive side at £17 each, so I'd probably look for a cheaper drink next time.
T. C.
What a great local, the perfect way to spend the evening or a Sunday. The staff are spot on and genuinely try to give the best experience.
R. T.
Lovely pub. But the menu changed. It's cheaper, but you now get an ant sized potion. 'I can count the leaves in my salad on one hand'
B. S.
Visiting from Berlin, i came to meet a friend living in the area. The food was great pub food and portions were huge.
Nice cold tasty beer as well
S. J.
Beautiful patio, really enjoyed my meal there with friends.
L. S. (.
Visited The Vine for a Sunday roast with friendly. Quite warm and cosy although not particularly small.
I'd give the food three stars, I can't even remember what meat I had, but I remember it wasn't very warm.
We played a round of Trivial Pursuit after which was a nice Sunday activity.
B. W.
Had a lovely roast dinner today with my family very enjoyable lovely nice people use the vine quite alot nice pub will be coming again.
M. G.
Great costumer service and good variety of beers, wines and food
L. P.
Amazing pub food and beer selection
O. M.
Do really like this pub. Nice garden and beautiful inside. Good selection of drinks and food is pretty decent and reasonably priced.
H. A.
Great pub, nice staff and amazing food
- updated 2020 -
Food is now but so good. Changed rating to 3
A.
Great for breakfast and brunch.
C. B.
Great service and food. Dog friendly so ideal for combining with a trip to Parli.👍
a. w.
Beautiful room, friendly staff and... Amazing food! My gnocchi were one of the best I have ever had! Will be back!
P. M.
They have live Jazz on a thursday once a month which was very cool. Bit like being in New Orleans for the night listening to sax and Trumpet and it was free. Food was good and the atmosphere friendly.
T. B.
Fantastic pub, very welcoming and friendly service
P. C. R.
Amazing scotch eggs! Great beers but a bit overpriced in main menu and draught
I. M.
Big pub with large beer garden ideal for a pint on a sunny summer evening. Not too sure there's much of a draw on less clement days as the interior is much less fun.
C. K.
Lovely pub with very nice Sunday roasts!
R. R.
Nice big space, the shuffleboard is great fun!
T. W.
Excellent pie, good service, nice space. Some friends and I used it for a Pokémon Go PvP tournament. The staff were friendly and supportive.
K. G.
Great decor both inside and outside. Had sausage roll and scotch egg as bar snacks. Both were delicious.
n. s.
Nice pub but for some reason they insist to dry their burgers to death by over cooking them.
I complained about it and ask to get it medium rare but still got it dead.
It's not a cheap place so for this price I expect for better food and service.
B. B. H.
This is a dog friendly pub, very welcoming staff and the coffee was great. We will definitely be back, with or without the dog.
S.
Really nice little pub with a warm, friendly barstaff, lovely little beer garden and really delicious sweet potato fries!
L. C.
Lovely London pub with a great selection of food and alcohol. The place has a very chilled out, relaxing vibe with outside seating available.
N. S.
Nice food, better than usual pubs, good price, social distancing, toilet clean. Would come back again
V. G.
We has our staff Christmas meal at The Vine. The food and service was exceptional and we will definitely go there again. Highly recommended.
C. R.
Exceptional food, lovely staff and great atmosphere. Highly recommend for any sort of group - friends and families.
B. H.
Very nice pub with food. Good for families in the daytime. Nice outside seating under established vines.
M. E.
Nice pub and great atmosphere, lovely staff who are very friendly, you can always find a table as it’s massive!!!
J. v.
Lovely big pub with a good size beer garden out front. Very cozy inside and a good gin selection.
S. M.
Good beer selection and, even though I didn’t try the food, the food looked good. Went there for a comedy night which was thoroughly enjoyable
S. R.
Food is great, facility rooms are spacious, beer garden is lovely. Beautiful pub.
A. S.
Pretty empty on a Saturday for lunch. Service was great and the beef burger was awesome, as was the sweet potato curry (although it was small)
G. C.
Excellent management of Covid - still a great place for a beer with (fewer than 6 total) friends.
P. M.
Nice chilled out pub. Really friendly staff. Good atmosphere and an even better selection of wines.
A. S.
Nice old style pub. Comfortable seating. Not too noisy on a Saturday night.
a. w.
Love the shuffleboard tables!
F. B.
Very nice local pub very close to Hampstead. The food choice is great and good value for money, with a great selection of drinks.
A. F.
