Reviews of The Wheatsheaf, Ealing
P. M.
Really enjoy this pub when watching football. Great screens. Good guiness and decent food. Lovely crowd there too. Passionate about the game but not over the top. Will be there on weds for the liverpool game!
L. t. V.
Nice pub away from the noise of the main road down a quiet residential street. We booked a table for outside that was reserved for us. Staff friendly, polite helpful and professional. Well turned out tasty pub food as you would expect from a Fullers pub. We will go back. (Could order at the bar or via the web site.) A few people smoking outside and as their outside space is quite small we were able to smell the smoke.
D. T.
A great pub. It's called the Wheatsheaf for a start, already a winner! A great modern well turned out establishment, retaining a real cozy feel to it. A wide selection of cask and keg on offer along with a fine 'pub' menu if you are hungry. The staff are lovely, although I though a kp was being given a beating out the back until the delightful lady on the bar assured me it was the chicken schnitzel being prepared! All was good. Great place, well worth a visit.
S. R.
Nice pub with a solid food menu. The staff were friendly and quick to serve drinks and food. There was lots of space and board games were available which was a nice touch. Lots to like
O. G.
Lovely cozy pub, with friendly and helpful staff.
Having said that the nachos I had were rubbish. Barely any toppings on them and the cheese had almost solidified. I had almost forgotten about this, but I just saw a picture of some decent loaded nachos and it reminded me how annoyed I was.
C. E.
The roast beef dinner was delicious, I would have preferred the roast potatoes to be crisper, they weren't brown at all, that said though the food was lovely and piping hot, the beef cooked to perfection and lots of it too.
T. N.
Found this pub by accident while looking for a place to watch the football. It happened to be the closest pub to me at the time. Great little pub split by restaurant area and place to watch sports on projector screen. Tried the Sunday roast which I had pork belly. So delicious!
V. K.
Good food, wide range of good beer, friendly staff. Large room at the back suitable for parties, fireplace in the front room of the pub.
T. Q.
A decent neighbourhood pub. Nice staff and cosy environment. Impressive food and drink options. Part of the Fuller's chain. It's not cheap but it's reasonable value for the quality provided. I've been coming here, on and off, for more than twenty years. One of my top ten pubs in London.
P. R.
40 years since I had been there but a little gem off a much changed Ealing Broadway ..proper traditional back Street boozer..try it!
T. H.
A nice pub with decently priced food and drink. Would go again (if I'm ever in the area again)
E. C.
Great atmosphere, relaxing pub... Good food but a little bit expensive
A. G.
Delicious food and really warm and welcoming interior. We loved our lunch here.
D. S.
A nice local Fuller's pub with a bunch of screens showing sport. Sunday roast isn't particularly great but a reasonable price for what you get.
Y. G.
Lovely pub with super friendly staff and lots of TVs showing football and rugby. Weekly pub quiz. Nice selection of beer & spirits, the food is also pretty good and the whole place relatively covid safe, with a nice & cozy atmosphere. We love to visit and have a great time every time.
T. C.
Great service and good selection of beers. Would go back
R. N.
Good atmosphere and enough screens to see all league games. Friendly staff and good food and drink choices. Clearly a local favourite though not the cheapest one.
F. O.
Good for Sunday lunch or drinks with friends. Sports TV on offer
T. B.
Good Atmosphere, weren't disappointed by the pub Grub. Thumbs up 👍
A. P. S.
Sweet little pub in the middle of a residential street. Friendly staff and locals.Food is adequate .They show major sports events. Very limited outside area.
D. D.
Nice pub, decent range of drinks, food not bad.
Friendly staff, enjoyable quiz with one major flaw: there's a team who just cheat (lots of inspirational toilet breaks, or just looking up stuff on their phones). And they seem to be regulars, so they don't get challenged. Not the only pub in the area with this problem, but some countered by playing the quiz with no cigarette break (the other opportunity for the unsubtle). It's a great shame, because it really puts us off; we've been a handful of times, won a couple, & lost to proper teams at least as well, so it's pretty fairly run, but competing against ppl who do this just takes the fun. I assume it's the same for the other teams playing square.
N. T.
The Beef Sunday Roast was to die for! Great decor and atmosphere!
S. K.
Great pub with lovely attentive staff, chef has a passion for ensuring the customers enjoy his food, new addition to the menu, soft crab burger is amazing, give it a try
S. J.
The atmosphere is perfect. It's stylish and understated. It retains the character of a pub whilst offering much more. Great food. Good beers and an excellent attentive staff. Add to that sports coverage (subtly done in selected areas) and you have the perfect sojourn for a Sunday afternoon.
L. T.
Came here for a Sunday roast.
As expected upon arrival, the place was quite full and a lot of tables reserved, but the staff were friendly and helped us get seated quickly.
Between the three of us, we ordered the lamb, beef and chicken roasts (the three staples!). The lamb and the beef were excellent, the chicken was also great, but part of it was incredibly dry where it had clearly been cooked weirdly.
Rest of the roast was as expected - peas, carrots and a roasted butternut squash for the vegetables.
The potatoes, however, leave a lot to be desired. They were very dry and the outside had lost it's crunch - unfortunately a very signature sign of potatoes just being "kept warm" all day or re-heated in a microwave.
All in all not a bad experience, and will keep it in mind again if in the area.
b. r.
Relaxed, clean .... And they have a good variety of games.
R. T.
The Wheatsheaf is a real hidden gem. The pub has a great atmosphere, the London Pride served there is the best I have tasted for a long time. Staff are really friendly and very efficient. Choice of beers and lagers is huge and a great wine list. Haven’t tried the food yet but hope to soon.
I believe Harry has recently taken over as manager and for a young man has been taught well from his years at the Kent. He really knows what makes a great pub, runs it the old fashioned way, that is a huge compliment. It is also a great venue to watch all sport, as they have Sky and BT.
I live near Pitshanger lane and happy to travel into Ealing for this pub.
Well done and keep up the great work.
J. W.
Fantastic local pub. They have a great mix of cask ales and taps - including some outstanding craft beers from Camden Town Brewery. They do a good job of offering sport - without distracting from the traditional pub atmosphere. Plus they're a easy walk from Ealing Broadway on a quiet street.
X. W.
A very decent and friendly pub, slightly above par for the average London pub. The beer selection isn't staggering but it's more than sufficient, combining some old standards with a few more adventurous options. The Sunday roasts are very satisfying.
J. M.
Just wanted to say that we nearly all opted for the fish and chips which is superb. Massive piece of fish with crunchy non fatty batter with homemade chips. At first the chip portion looked a little small but trust me you don't need alot as the fish goes on forever. We tried another pub the year before but inferior and unanimously wanted to return this time. The atmosphere in the Wheatsheaf is warm, cosy and traditional and service good. We changed our timings last minute which was no problem for the staff. Food definitely above average for a pub and would urge anyone to visit.
A. A.
Food is really good, way better than your average pub grub. We got pizza which was excellent, and nachos which were the best I've ever had. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.
A. b.
Really nice bar with sport and good food.
J. R.
Food is very hit and miss - only downside. Very friendly and lovely staff and pub. Great decor, nice old pictures of Ealing. Pub Quiz is good, but a little slow and no Art or Literature questions! Although, very topical and enjoyable! Good pub.
Z. C.
Great Pub! Great Service! Huge screens for all the footy. Will be back!
R. K.
It’s one of my locals, great atmosphere and good food. It’s very rustic inside and the food generally doesn’t disappoint. Great for a some
British comforts. Staff are very friendly too.
W. B.
Real nice pint of real ale, Staff very friendly nice surroundings very covid aware well worth a visit.
A. R.
One of the cosiest pubs I have ever been to. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming, the food is great as well. Recommend for family gathering or other occasions.
N. H.
I absolutely love this pub. It's around the corner from my flat, always find a table and the fireplace is just awesome. It's a great place for those looking for a quiet pub during the day and until 6-7 pm, and if you're into sports, they have a giant screen and several TVs. Food is far better than the place next door
G. B.
Been coming here for almost a decade and it's still my favourite pub in Ealing despite diminishing returns over the years. It's still a very warm pub with a great clientèle and atmosphere, and being off the beaten track it's not usually too busy. It's a great - not rowdy - place to watch sport (particularly rugby) and I still register a few all day sessions in here every couple of months.
But STILL, the food used to be better, the staff used to be friendlier and they inexplicably removed some of the beer options (what happened to Blue Moon?). Who am I kidding though I love the place.
R. R.
Lovely, warm and inviting pub. Definitely recommend.
P. G.
Nice cozy place, with seating outside too. Very friendly staff.
M. W.
Nice pub with great atmosphere and as it was a rugby lovers pub was an excellent venue to watch the Wales England match. As with most London based pubs the beer was a bit pricey but didnt spoil the experience
H. A.
Nice place, a lot of screens to watch the games and a lovely Sunday roast
B. O.
Large but cosy pub with lots of screens showing the sport. However, when I was last there the main screen didn't have the sound on.
They serve Sunday Roasts that cost an expensive £16.00. The kitchen shuts at 8pm on a Sunday. Food can be a bit of hit and miss.
K. N.
They have craft beer and ales. The food is respectable.
There is a small outside area in the alleyway.
We tend to go here to watch the sport.
You can find parking along the road at the top next to the cricket club.
A. M.
Amazing Fuller's pub with plenty of seating. Uses projector for big games. Friendly staff and good clientele makes it a warm and welcoming environment.
D. M.
Excellent food, friendly staff and a local yet high quality feel to the place. I always look forward to a quiet pint at the end of a long day when I'm visiting here
A. B.
The Wheatsheaf was a great local pub that get gave all of us a great flavor of local London. All ofnus enjoyed the the ciders, the fruit loops ale, and the savory menu. Coming from the states we were served with friendly staff, cheers!
E. n.
Great and Cosy Pub! The service is very good and friendly too. They do serve good food too. It is a decent and welcoming pub.
B. C.
Very nice pub with a great selection of beers. Big screen and TVs for sport - even a rugby corner. The food is tasty but I'm docking it a star due as it's terribly overpriced.
S. L. P.
Come here on Sunday (25.03) with a friend after a heavy night on the town. Thought we'd have the hair of dog and a lovely sunday roast. And boy, we wasn't disappointed. We both ordered the lamb shoulder (£16) and it was money well spent, the meat literally fell off the bone. We drank some lovely Cornish cider as well, which went down a treat.
We also had dessert and it was delicious. The staff were very friendly and will defo be returning!
R. L.
Good local Fullers pub. Great choice of beer as you would expect and top end pub grub. Best pub in the local. They also show sports on a big screen. Would recommend.
E. R.
Always a great atmosphere. Plenty of space so good place to catch up with friends. Good menu selection. Great neighbourhood pub!!
E. M.
Very friendly pub, feels almost like a proper country pub (only in Ealing) beer is good, never had the food.
S. T.
First time visit to this back street local and what a delight!
Nice chap behind the bar who made me feel welcome upon my arrival and well kept ales. A return is definitely on the cards.

Great local pub, big screen drop down for sports but is hidden the rest of the time. Perfect for that big match or just a quiet pint.
D.
A great local pub if you want to watch some rugby or grab a quick bite to eat. Love the Monday night quiz too.
D. O.
Great local pub. Staff are friendly and there is plenty of screens to watch all the sports. Do a variety of ales. Well worth a visit.
J. T.
Just had a few nibbles and they were delicious.... Salad garnish fresh, clean cooking oil( you can tell) , squid lovely...And the smells from the food around are something else!

A local gem in Ealing visited by true locals and friends. The food is delicious and the ambiance is everything you'd expect for a good British pub.
D. B.
Nice old pub, good food, 3 different TV feeds so often 3 different matches of football or rugby on.
R. M.
My friend booked part of it for her engagement party, it was lovely, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the drinks prices are very reasonable.
J. M.
Love this place. Great beer, good food, nice staff, cosy inside with a really interesting bar
J. R.
Warm, good atmosphere, proper fireplace, good ales, oak floor and furnishings. A rugby pub not a football pub.

Cosy pub with friendly staff and in a convenient location- although it's in a residential area and so you're away from the hustle and bustle of normal mass-consumerist life.

From the time we entered the restaurant, we were made to feel very welcome. It is a very pretty restaurant from the inside. The staff were lovely and nice. But we did have to wait a bit (more than normal) for the food - but I was glad that their roast included cauliflower cheese which is my favourite. When the food finally arrived, we were happy, but then we were disappointed to see the amount of oil on the kids pizza. We literally had to wipe it off with a tissue. Also, we had 2 adult beef roasts and a kids beef roast - It said ‘Pink’ on the menu, so I asked if it would be medium - rare, and the waiter said that it was. But it wasn’t pink at all - it was well done and quite chewy as well.
So, in terms of the ambience and service - Great place, but the food and the quality of it disappointed us.

(Translated) My favorite pub in London 🇬🇧
1. Tasty food
2. Friendly staff
3. Great atmosphere
4. London Pride, their locally brewed ale
5.Good location.Only a few min walk from Ealing Broadway Station.
I ’m picky about food but seriously everything tastes good and reasonable price.I personally like steak and mushroom pie, nachos, Margherita pizza, and Halloumi & Sweet Potato Salad.
I heard they have a good Sunday roast too.
To Japan
If you don't know where to go in London, I recommend it. The food is delicious, not so expensive, the staff is kind and polite, and I have both, so I don't regret it. The ale that is built here called London Pride is also delicious.
It seems that Sunday roast can be eaten from 12:00 on Sunday.
