Reviews of Tom Cribb
J. T.
Nice little pub to stop by, tucked away off the main street. Been here a number of times either late on Thursdays or Saturday arvos. Always been cozy and people are generally stopping by for a break. It is a little bit dinky, but it's still a great little pub. Bottle of red ~£23
B.
Small and packed with humans this pub is a place to go if you don’t want to hear or be heard by anyone. It is certainly friendly but when you are nearly standing inside other people, one has to be friendly! Is there a boxing theme? The photos of boxers on the wall suggests so, but due to the noise Mummy couldn’t bear it, even if her teddy bear (me) could. So we escaped back onto the cold, dark street near Leicester Square.
D. W.
Lovely old London boozer paying homage to 19th century pugilist, Tom Cribb.
Compact and bijou with a warm atmosphere.
C. F.
Nice refreshing beer. Not too expensive. Snacks available. The pub is small and often busy. Nice vibe. Staff were cool.
D. T.
A quiet traditional pub close to Piccadilly Circus. Good beer and a pleasant atmosphere. An appealing place to spend some time.
P. C.
Great bar staff. Excellent service. Fine ales. Can get busy at times but well worth a visit.
M. J.
Nice pub. Good choice of drinks. Bit on the small side but was still able to get my wheelchair in.
P. S.
Lovely little pub with great atmosphere. Ideal for a drink before or after attending the many theatres close by.
G. M.
Old fashioned British"boozer" very popular with theatre crowd. Serves Shepherd Neame beer, attentive bar staff and interesting decor.
A. S.
Decent pub with a good range on tap and okay decor inside. Not too expensive for London but staff were pretty keen to kick us all out bang on closing time despite a fair bit of our drinks left. Made to feel a bit of an inconvenience. Not a bad boozer on the weekend I imagine, less so mid-week.
P. D.
Small pub, good service, nice staff! Would recommend before the theatre.
T. D.
Lovely ambience called in before a show ..... lush pint ov guinness and moretti was best outsude ov italy will definately return .... warm welcome too xc
D. C.
Lovely little pub. Moving with current trends but still maintaining old traditions.
L. L.
Small pub opposite the Harold Pinter theatre.
F. R.
Nice little pub in the middle of West end and not too busy for a Saturday night which is ideal if you want to have a seat and have a drink. Not many selections of drinks available.
J. B.
Very cosy pub, perfect place to wait to go to the Harold Pinter Theatre
K. R.
Great little pub very friendly good prices and food
E. L.
Great 3 course set meal for a pre theatre treat. Don't miss out on the crushed avocado and wild Scottish salmon
D. B.
Decent london boozer though a bit small... I've been in bigger women.
D. D.
Nice pub always pop in here when we go and see a show in town
D. B.
Very small pub and was busy so finding somewhere to stand was difficult .. and closed earlier than thought 11pm on a saturday ....
A. P.
Fabulous 'proper' London pub friendly and great atmosphere we loved it 😊
J. M.
Great pub and a really nice crowd..Toilets leave a lot to be desired....
D. D.
Popped in for a quick pint on the August Bank Holiday (Friday) quick service and a great little pub. Loved the boxing memorabilia around the place. Would return.
J. B. L.
Very good Shepherd Neeme pub in central London, not far from Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square. There is a cinema across the street, so you may enjoy a pint before, or after a good movie. The pub is not very big, but I like it that way. It is part of its charm, and the staff behind the small bar is very helpful and kind, and you seldom have to fight your way there (not even Tom Cribb himself would have had to do that). Come here and enjoy a pint or two from there nice range of real ale!
J. L.
It's everything I thought a pub would be. Have a pint and enjoyed the pace very much
B. A.
Great pub with friendly atmosphere and nice to see some British boxing history
J. C.
A great central London pub. A rarity in this part of the west end
k. S.
Good lively pub, nice Guinness.
E. C.
Excellent old fashioned pub in the West End.
N. H.
Great pub right in the centre. Perfect for a few pints before a theatre.
S. R.
Smallish pub but great service
S. B.
After a few hours walking around the west end stumbled across the Tom Cribb and so glad I did. Lovely pub good atmosphere friendly bar staff and the Guinness was great just what I needed .
A. B.
Nice pint with an acting mate. Stood outside but it was pleasant.
O. B.
Cool pub on the corner as we waited for our time to go to the theater.
P. R.
Small cosy traditional pub. Friendly staff.
D. P.
Nice and peaceful place for a drink before a look forward to the show

❤️ Cosy boozer in the heart of theatre land, named after a famous bare knuckle boxer from the 19th century.
.
This West End watering hole has a nice traditional feel about it and a laid back atmosphere. The walls of the pub are adorned with photos and pictures of boxing legends from the past. This place is good for a drink away from the hustle and bustle of Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square and for pre theatre drinks.
.
Tidy boozer this and what you would expect from a Shepherd Neame Pub.
.
📊 Information correct on visiting 16/03/18
P. W.
Nice old style little pub, friendly, well worth dropping in on a warm summer evening. No outside seating.
J. B.
One of my favourite London pubs . Bishop's Finger on top form
.
D. K.
This place gave me the traditional English Pub atmosphere I was looking for. Nice bar, old-world decor, good beer and good food.
4.
Real good atmosphere, good beers. Food was a bit too fat for my taste, but it was sunday roast, so, to be fair, it was supposed to be this way.
p. m.
Proper old school boozer, playing Northern Soul as well.
P. J.
Brilliant bar staff and landlord could not have helped more 🙂
M. P.
Good location for a pre or post theatre drink. Good location of beers and ales..
r. g.
Lovely old pub and great prices for the location
D. B.
Full of pugilistic history!!!
S. B.
It's a Shepherd Neame pub, not much else needs to be said really
S. M.
Traditional British pub in the heart of London's West End. Good selection of real ales.
S. W.
Great barman ,good company that involved two naval veterans who were great fun ! Cheers !
M. A.
Tiny heritage pub. Literally only enough seating for about 10 people. Friendly barman. Nice to sit, look at photos of old time boxers and pugilist. Great conversation pieces.
C. T.
Called in after theatre trip, on a busy Saturday night. Jam packed, but service is first class, Wetherspoon's take note. Only took 2 minutes to get served a really good pint. Staff constantly clearing glasses, without moaning and always cheerful. Can't fault it except needed wellies in the men's, obviously most blokes weren't toilet trained!
A.
Lovely homely pub with good food. Small menu but caters for vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters. What we had was absolutely delicious and excellent value for money. Chips were to die for!!
J. E. E.
Friday night it was very full. But looks like a nice little watering hole. No pinball.
M. D.
Lovely pub in a relatively quiet spot in the very centre of the town, just a few walks away from Leicester square. They have a good selection of beers and the food is average but not too bad. Prices are fine considering the location. It is a bit worn out but that adds charme to the place. The staff is friendly and helpful
M. N.
One of my “local” pubs, I have to be careful what I say, haha! Again, it’s all down to customer service and staff.
Lovely, old fashioned pub, with great atmosphere, can be really busy around theatre performances. I never wait for drinks to be served, everyone is smiling, the Polish Manager has the biggest smile ever and always welcomes everyone with a joke or good comment. Love it!
C. M.
personally i really like this pub- its the local from my office and so i come here often. They have a great selection of beers and wines, friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere. The food is good and very reasonably priced- try a sausage sandwich and a bowl of cheesy chips for lunch! The downside is it's very small- it takes very little for this pub to get incredibly crowded. When that happens its hard to even find standing space, let alone get to the bar! Busy times are after work- particularly on a Thursday or Friday. It can get pretty busy for lunch after 1pm too so go early if you want to sit down.
T. L.
Decent pint lots of boxing memorabilia
S. G.
Great little pub, especially for boxing fans
A. C.
Great little pub. Only a few years from Leicester Square, but a bit hidden away so it's not as packed as some of the pubs in the area. It is small though, so it gets full. There is a good range of draught beer and the staff are friendly. Highly recommended!
H. G.
I like the people, they are so cool.
S. A.
My local in London. See me at the bar, say hello and get a free beer!
P. W.
Traditional pub. Small and enjoyably quiet on a Sunday afternoon. Would be a good place to take visitors wanted to see somewhere typical. Good range of beers and ciders.
G. R.
Great little pub opposite the Harold Pinter theatre. They serve food as well as drinks and the staff are always helpful. Only downside is the size of the bathroom.
T. C.
Cosy proper old pub. Usually quiet as it's not on the main street. Can get busy with theatre-goers. A good place to have a beer and burger after a movie at the adjacent Leicester sq.
S. C.
Typical Victorian London pub. You can read all about Tom Cribb and other boxers. Occasionally used by the theatre actors over the road. Seen some notable faces in for a quiet drink on a couple of nights.
A. D.
Great boxing themed pub
p. m.
Tucked up a side street but easy to get to. Small predominately local pub. Quick friendly service . Good sandwiches. Spitfire beer. No tea nor coffee but will definitely call again!
E. N.
Just discovered this place as it's just around the corner from where I'm staying. Great bartenders and good beer. Will try the fish and chips soon. Today is the final match of the world cup, France vs Croatia. They had signs saying they were not going to show the game, boo, but they had terrible trouble when England lost. But one the game started, guess what came on? Great move and it's not crowded like all the other places now! Love it!
L. W.
Nice, old fashioned pub. The fact that it's tucked down a side street means its a touch more authentic and tourist free compared to other pubs in the area. This along with the fact its very near several theatres means you occasionally get a few famous faces in there. (I saw Greta Scacchi in there a little while back)
M. P.
Awesome pub. I'm not such a big fan of beer but whenever I am here I just have to try their brews. The atmosphere is calm and cozy and you can feel like at home on the comfortable couches.
E. R.
Not the largest selection of beers on offer, but what they have is good.
One of the friendliest places I've been. Even if you've only nipped in for one pint, they'll run after you to return a forgotten hat. Yet to have a bad experience there.
J. M.
Good food. Very attentive staff. However only criticism is that they advertise good English pub food and the sandwiches are all presented on warm Italian bread. Should be a good English crusty bloomer.
J. T.
A pretty cozy little pub in a quite corner close to Piccadilly and Opera Theater. I used to relax there afther a working day. SAM76 is really excelent, they also serve locals and italians beers. 👍👍👍
Y. B.
A truly authentic old school London pub experience
S. S.
Great little traditional English pub, absolutely perfect for a pre-drink before a show at the Harold Pinter Theatre (you'll often spot the actors in their too!). Just don't count on getting a seat unless you get there early, it's often standing room only, but rarely crowded.
P. C.
A Shepherd Neame pub a stone's throw from Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square, but a haven from hoards of tourists. Shepherd Neame beer is always good and I've never had to wait long to get a seat, despite its popularity and small size. Nice place to meet for a pre- or post-theatre drink.
D. M.
Cracking small pub lots of atmosphere.
I. M.
Haymarket theatre bar does not open until 45min before show. Go here instead. Traditional pub selling real ales and lagers etc. Not a cocktail place.
T. B.
Nice place fine pint staff nice and helpful.
A. S.
Strange
No music, news on TV, going to the toilet in a wheelchair was a struggle and the place would be packed one minute and empty the next.
However, Bear Island pale ale is highly recommended!
D. H.
Lovely Pub.... cozy
M. M.
Very good. Very very busy. Great atmosphere. Cosmopolitan. Eventually got a seat. Great wine. Fantastic price for London. Highly recommend
M. G. P.
On a walking tour of London this little hideaway is a nice stop off for a "livener". It has been well known for years as a pre theatre drinking spot and you often spot a wayward actor having a swift half before curtain up. The Pinter theatre ( formerly the Comedy Theatre) has been a neighbour since Victorian times. Smashing little boozer.
G. N.
Nice wee boozer though the toilets are a bit manky
A. D.
A very nice place to get a drink near Piccadilly Circus. There is not much room or seating as it's a small plot but you go for a drink, amd the food looks great.
M. R.
Loved it but toilet needs sorting out, other than.thstbit nice cosy little pub ... a pub that looks like a pub ... prices are reasonable given the area it's in.. Will definitely return
P. C.
Loved it. Old school traditional pub. Bishop's Finger on tap. Good prices no rip off. Brilliant.
J. H.
What a great little pub found this place as was going to the theatre royal haymarket just round the corner food was great and drink was good very cheap and a lovely little oub
A. G.
A great place to rest and recover.
b. H.
Great English pub.
J. H.
A very small pub close to Piccadilly Circus. The beer was OK and you're not prevented from drinking on the street. It was very busy when we went which was about 9.30 on a Saturday evening
J. L.
Small cosy little pub although toilets could do with an upgrade...limited range of larger and beer but nice enough
C. M.
personally i really like this pub- its the local from my office and so i come here often. They have a great selection of beers and wines, friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere. The food is good and very reasonably priced- try a sausage …
A. C.
Great little pub. Only a few years from Leicester Square, but a bit hidden away so it's not as packed as some of the pubs in the area. It is small though, so it gets full. There is a good range of draught beer and the staff are friendly. Highly recommended!
r. b.
Great old sportsmens pub we went in and only saw the ex English football team manager enjoying a swift pint

Z. M.
Cosy pub, can get served in the interval and get back to performance efficiently
G. S.
One of the few pubs along this belt that is still going....a lot of changes in this district. Good that this remains. Long may it last.
K.
Tiny typical English pub so gets very busy. I was there on Friday and I can't complain... it was tight but managable.
S. W.
Cute little place that we stopped in ..glad we did just to people watch. Got 2 Ciders and relaxed.
E. C.
Great pub tucked away behind the criwded streets around Leicester square. A great buzzing little place, recommended.
P. L.
Interesting pub especially for boxing fans, have today a limited range of beers and toilets could do with attention. Then again this was a Saturday night
G.
Pleasant little historic pub. A bit like a tardis, small but contains everything you could want. Tasty food.
S. C.
Great little pub
A. D.
I popped into the Tom Cribb with the missus for a swift half before heading across the road to the Harold Pinter Theatre to see the latest production of the Birthday Party. Despite an all star cast including the likes of Toby Jones and Stephen Mangan and what was possibly a faithful adaptation of the original script, I can't help but say I left a little disappointed. Then again, perhaps absurdist theatre just isn't my thing? On balance therefore, 3 stars. PS was a little disappointed to find the bar wouldn't take card payments
Y. D. Y.
Great fish and chips for lunch
A. R.
Stopped in here after visiting local theatre. Had a couple of ciders. Great atmosphere as you would expect.
A. Z.
No food on certain days, beer selection was ok, but the place has a feeling of dirty all over it. Could use a refresh.
N. R.
Local pub just off St. James's Square, serving Shepherd Neame beers and a short menu of pub food
M. R.
A great little find several weekends ago when off to the theatre
Really friendly with great Shepherd Neame Beers and good pub food
Will go back whenever I am around Haymarket
S.
Lovely, old fashioned pub, with great atmosphere.

Lovely cozy pub. Shepherd Neame so the beers, although well kept, not to my taste.
G. G.
Great little pub in the theatre district. Paid only £6 for a double house scotch.

Does what it says on the tin, Kentish ales were nice but the gents is pretty much in the middle of the pub, which was a bit disconcerting!
M. H.
Lovely mulled wine
A. B.
Nice pub around the corner from the Prince of Wales Theater. Went here for drinks before and after our show.

(Translated) Finally I found a pub where I could drink Spitfire ale. It was able to be found by chance rather than saying .... I bought a few small things in supermarkets etc. and came and drank several times, but I couldn't find a pub that I had been dealing with and was giving up. Unfortunately, GOLD was out of stock this time, but we plan to visit again soon. After all it was delicious to compare with the thing of the bottle. This pub also looks delicious food, so I am looking forward to it next time.
