P. S.AMAZING open beer hall for shows and gathering with friends. Great open back patio for nice weather. Ordering is slick and easy with a quick scan on your phone and food and drinks are served quickly. All the drinks are perfect, if their type suits your fancy. The Friend Cauliflower and the veggie meatballs are INCREDIBLE bar fare and really hit the spot 2 or 3 drinks in. I'll definitely be back for more hang outs here.
T. _.I visited as a dry run for eight members of my family coming next Saturday, including two parents in their 70s. The venue is lovely and there was lots of space at 12pm. The roast was a good portion and tasted fine, and came in good time.
There are a few things that need improvement though: (a) the music was far too loud 12-1pm with the radio playing. At 1pm or so it was much better and pleasant when the jazz started. Please do this from opening time. (b) my plate was not cleared as quickly as it should have been. In fact it was sitting there an hour (c) the drink I ordered after took 15 mins to arrive. Not terrible but slightly longer than I expected. You do need a few more waiting staff from opening.
Apart from that fabulous.

Very spacious and lots of tables. We prebooked and had no issues.
Best part was: they had a DJ appear around midnight and we had a great time dancing to 70's classics + "All I want for Christmas" by Mariah Carey.
Despite the explosion of cases, this place retained the spirit of freedom and joy from the beforetime.
The sign says it was revived in 2014 - let's hope it keeps going for many years to come. 😊
S. D.Cool, massive space with good atmosphere - great for groups. £5.50 for a pint of lager or get a good deal on a four pint pitcher for £22. Drinks took about 15-20 minutes to arrive (although they did warn us so wasn't a big deal). There's a good range of food, with pizzas, burgers and Asian dishes. We had a few different burgers between us, which arrived within a very speedy five minutes, and all were decent and cost around £13 with some chips.

Loads of space indoor and outdoor. Service can take a while if it's really busy. Attended a flea market here not long ago which was awesome! Tip is automatically added to your online order when you pay, you can change it.

Good selections of beers. We order pizza and it tasted and had the texture of a frozen pizza base and sauce.
We also ordered Halloumi fries with spicy sauce on the side, as my partner cannot have any kind of spicy food. Not only that note was missed completely but also it was cold and soggy, like it was on the pass for a long time.
We tried to talk with someone about it but as we were sat outside, no one came to check how the food was so we didn’t had the chance although we pay almost £4 on service.
I hope my next visit will change my mind, but it’s not going to be as soon as I thought.

T. R.Great tap house, huge with good beer and other drinks. Despite other reviews I've never had an issue with service. Since the pandemic began the truman has always been ahead of the game with customer safety.
The main issue I have is the acoustics. When the music is loud it's near impossible to have a conversation. We had to move tables from the events room to find somewhere not so deafening. The sound system needs someone qualified to calibrate it and advise on dampening measures. Or just commit to going full Berghain style nightclub and make it somewhere to go raving.
Maybe the dj thought everyone was there to hear his Spotify playlist and watch his four dancing friends so kept inching the volume up. Maybe I'm just getting old.
A. K.Went for Comedy night. The venue is lovely and spacious and the entertainment was amazing, but the food that arrived after an hour's wait was really awful. Possibly the worst pizza we've had in a long time, and the dirty fries weren't great either considering the price. As others here have done before, I'd recommend eating somewhere else before you go.

Good atmosphere and a very relaxed Sunday vibe on our visit. Food choices are pretty limited and unfortunately I was disappointed by both the cheese burger and chicken burgers.
The chicken burger was overcooked, dry and tough. The beef burger was good in comparison. It was tasty and perfectly cooked so the only complaint was that it was really very small and so the lack of any salad garnish was therefore very telling.
C. B.This place has the wow factor for guests, completely unassuming from the outside but immediately greeted by a Dishoom esque grandiose yesteryear style beer hall complete with jazzy Quartet tunes. The bar is lined with jade green tiles and a wide selection of local beers and spirits.
Ordering and service is like clockwork and a great vegan menu to choose from. Lots of smiles from the people around us having a really good time

T. M.I absolutely love TSC! I remember going when it was just the food shacks and outdoors area, but the have completely transformed the place into such a beautiful space. The choice of beers is great and the food is delicious with plenty of vegetarian options.

Staff were friendly and efficient despite all the hassle of having to order online (what about people with no smart phone?), beer tasty with a good range of styles and strengths. The beers good though no cask ales, which sadly for old gits like me seems to be the norm. TBF none of my drinking companions could give a monkeys about this. I asked the staff and they had no clue what I was talking about. The food was tasty, the chicken burgers a little dry and felt they had been shrunk. The halumi fry’s were delicious.

Everything has been set up to maintain social distance with spaced out tables, digital ordering and staff wearing the appropriate PPE. Also the food was fantastic, the chicken Katsu curry was delicious. Couldn’t ask for more!
I. M.We've been here twice in the last two weeks and it's definitely been the best post-lockdown experience we've had so far. We love how careful the staff are from the moment they check in to when you leave. We've seen how seriously they take COVID safety measures and are very reassured by that, which means we can actually relax and enjoy our time there. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but actually love some of their beers and there are enough other options to make everyone happy. We also really enjoyed the food both times (different vendors). The only downside is the slightly rickety toilets, but I'm sure that's something they're working on and will sort out soon. So glad this is in Walthamstow!

T. L.Visited late on Saturday afternoon and spent a couple of hours at the venue. On the plus side we were in the tent part and the heater was appreciated. The first live music we've heard in a couple of months was really good. The ordering system is easy enough and service was good. Everything was nicely organised, there are rules, but it is relaxed. We vistited when they first opened and it felt like they have chilled out a little since, still perfectly safe but less head teacherly!
The beer is OK, you'll get much better with five minutes walk and they ran out of red wine, which disappointed some of our party. Food was OK, but very limited choice. Toilets are pretty gruesome (thankfully you have to wear a mask!) and a pain to walk to.
Given groups will probably have to be outside for some time, a good choice of venue, particularly for the heaters, but would be nice if they could get some of their cask beer on, which is much more interesting than their keg.
T. S.A pretty slick operation and a great sign of what Truman's will offer in the future. Fantastic vegan big Mac and great Breton cider, not being a beer drinker. Full credit to them for investing in the area and get excited to see what they make of the place.

S. M.I had a really nice evening with friends at the club last night. I really enjoyed my meal (very much) and although there wasn't a large drink chose it was fine.
The only thing I found I did feel was very Covid-19 safe was the loos, they are very dark and once inside the cubical it's not easy to see how clean they are (take a torch). Overall it we had a really good time and staff and atmosphere could not be better.
b. t.I like this place. Four stars rather than five because the ordering app was a pain to use. Apart from that, the staff are friendly and helpful, the beer is good, though a limited range at the moment, and the atmosphere is good. Looking forward to the tap room indoors, as this is outside only at the moment. Keep an eye on the weather! ☺️
S. P.This is one of our favourite places to visit locally in Walthamstow and celebrating my birthday here with a small group of friends was no exception. The staff were reassuringly clear and knowledgeable about the Covid-safety procedures and diligently, but politely checked us all in and oversaw us completing the track and trace QR code before showing us to our seats whilst explaining the lay out and ordering system.
The simple to use QR and web-based ordering was very intuitive and amongst one of the best that I've used since bars reopened. The service was also quick and friendly. The food from the food truck was scrumptious and along with Truman's legendary beers is amongst one of the main reasons why we return most weeks.
We very much look forward to seeing how the development of the site continues with brewing capabilities being introduced soon alongside inside seating.
There's a fine line between being reassuringly safe and overly officious at the moment, but we feel that Truman's Social Club is a top-grade example to other establishments of how to do it properly. Hats off!

J. R.Lovely place with really well thought through layout and beautiful artwork. It's hard to make a large warehouse space seem welcoming but they've managed it.
This place has clearly been designed with social distancing in mind. The toilets are clean and utilise a clear one way system. The taps are even foot pedal operated!
Table service is contactless via a web page (no app install needed) and service is rapid! Staff are very conscious of Covid procedures and are utilising PPE as you'd expect, yet still really friendly and polite.
I didn't eat but my friends ordered food, it looked and smelled ace (and they said they enjoyed it).
Oh, and the beer is excellent as you'd expect.
Really happy to have this in my neighbourhood. I'll certainly be coming back.

D. S.A cavernous venue that's only been open about a year or so, and is part of the 'Walthamstow beer mile'. Has Trumans beers as well as plenty of guest beers. Plenty of seating and a huge beer garden. Check it out.
