Reviews of Two Chairmen
S. B.
Good atmosphere comes with good beer. We had a good time with my friends, they have larfe selection of draught which us boys loved, who's the girls been amazed with the 100s of gins they have got.
We will be back!
S. M.
Very welcoming staff, great food and amazing beer 🍻. This is a 18th century pub, the oldest in Westminster. Truly a hidden gem, a little of the beaten roads but very easy to find. I recommend everyone who wants a nice pint and bar snack to come here.
M. N.
We had dinner here on Wednesday. Little pub , with big character and heart. Our food was amazing, I had the Big Fish, my husband had Steak &Kidney pudding, what a choice. They have large variety of beer and they also let you taste. The staff was super good, especially when the 5pm busy time kicked off. The place got full in seconds in and out with after work drinkers and became a completely different pub. We loved it!
J. M.
The first time I went was seven years ago. Had a great time then and had a great time now. Staff is great, food is good too. If your in the area pop in for a pint or grab some food. Either way, you'll be happy.
G. B.
We visited in December and I've got so excited about their decorations for Christmas that I decorated the house the day after 🤣🤣🤣
Food was so delicious, I had Fish my friend had Steak Pie with mash, both recommended by the team , who were amazing. We believed every single recommendation of them after the superb food.
We had their signature cocktails for "dessert", worth trying them 👍👍👍👍👍
We will definitely be back T some point.
N. H.
This is just about the smallest pub I have ever been in, but I loved it! The guys on the bar were great and knowledgeable about the beer, the atmos was fun with the rugby on, and the food was not too shabby 😉 Will definitely come by again before I head home.
F. C. S.
Wonderful little pub situated in a partially gas lit and picturesque street, behind the busy bustling Westminster thoroughfare
We really enjoyed our visit here, having seen the outside on many occasions
You cannot go wrong with a Green King menu for decent, hearty and reasonably priced food
We were served by a lovely chap, unfortunately we didn't get his name (bearded with an interesting tattoo on his forearm...) who was smiling and pleasant to every customer we saw him deal with, a real credit to his employer
I heartily recommend the Two Chairmen!
S. A.
Beautiful pub, we had our Christmas lunch there yesterday, food was delicious, great vegetarian and vegan choices too. We were well looked after my Timea and her team, who were very welcoming and friendly throughout our visit. Will definitely be back.
P. L. (.
One of my favourite pubs in the area.
Always welcoming & always great food / drink
Yesterday was no exception with excellent pint washing down a turkey pie.
Gets busy in the evenings with the after work crowd. In the day an oasis of calm
J. C.
Nice pub with nice friendly staff. It serves a large selection of beers, wines and spirits. You can also order food. Going to lady's toilets unfortunately involves walking up a lot of stairs
T. B.
Nice pub on a lovely street just off Parliament Square. Good pub food and drinks with friendly staff and reasonably priced. Recommended!
V. P.
Amazing place, cozy atmosphere and very friendly bartenders!
A. H.
Charming pub, one of the nicer ones in Westminster. Great range of beer. Comfortable inside, but best for flocking on the pavement with a pint. In summer the setting sun warms up the street front and you can truly enjoy the evening.
N. T.
A group of 6 of us visited this establishment for a meal and a drink, on a Saturday afternoon, following a guided walk in the area. The service was fair, the drink was as expected but after initially being told that the food might take 30 minutes to arrive, when it actually did arrive, (approximately 20 minutes later), it certainly wasn't hot. I chose steak & ale pie, veg and chips - the chips were the hottest of the 3 items, the veg (cabbage) was cold, and the pie was only just warm. The plate was like the cabbage - cold. I didn't complain since the turnaround time would have spoilt our day even more.
D. H.
Nice little pub located right outside St. James Park. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Meals were very substantial and competitively priced too, offering both proper pub grub and sandwiches, with a dessert menu to finish.
Would definately go there again.
B. B.
Amazing little pub just hidden next to St James's park! The team is fantastic. This is a kind of pub where they not just serving you, but really looking after you. Ive been there several times and always sonething going on. Charity event or an amazing Christmas or they just let you dress up to their pubsign and you can take a photo. It is really amazing. Thank you to Timea and her T(i)eam(ea) :)))
T. H.
Cosy place in heart of Westminster. Little hidden gem, food is always good, beer well kept, staff friendly!
Worth a visit!
D. O.
This was my first English pub experience and first time eating authentic English food. Of course I ordered the fish and chips! It was pretty good, but one thing I've noticed about English food is they don't season it much. Very hearty, but not too tasty.
I went back here for lunch one day during my business trip and ordered the steak. I don't know if it was the aging or what but the steak was very sour.
I was also worried about having a sharp knife in England because the police could have burst in at anytime and arrested me 🤣
Good selection of drinks, just don't order the steak.
L. M.
Amazing beautiful pub
C. M. A.
Perfect pub for a good pint in the centre of London. Upstairs room excellent for different events. Staff always friendly and helpful.
A. C.
Stumbled upon this amazing little gem while in a day out with friends. Fantastic atmosphere, great service and delicious food.
Definitely worth revisiting.
D. M.
Good pub with decent beer selection and a nice atmosphere. Staff are friendly and approachable.
w. c.
Great Pub, Nice atmosphere, brilliant services, delicious food and perfect selection of beer, I highly recommend this place !
N. C.
Super cute pub, great food and lovely atmosphere, well worth a visit!
K. G.
Good place to stop off near Parliament Square and just off St James Park. Friendly staff, warm interior, good prices.
A. G.
Awesome...Mercedes was a natural ✨ and she had a Gold medal 🏅in her hand ✋😄,...which I thought was a funny Tattoo to be fare 🤝🌟.
c. c.
Very pleasant lunchtime, we were very well looked after by a lovely lady from Hungary and her equally friendly colleague. Excellent beer and food, can't really ask for more 🙂
G. L.
Small pub but good beer selection and great fish and chips. Extra eating space upstairs. Fun fact.. pub exterior featured in new Mary Poppins movie :)
A. D.
Fantastic small pub in a great location
p. b.
Small, dingy, noisy not much choice of Cask Ales, would not be in a hurry to go back.
J.
It can get a bit busy inside, but the road closures outside mean that there's plenty of spill-out space. Staff are always unfailingly nice, and a decent beer selection.
L. R.
Tasty food. Nice bar person. When things get busy, you need to order everything at the bar as there will be no table service.
P. P.
Pleasant staff, nice food and good beer off the tourist track so more authentic which is nearly always better👍😊
B. R. W.
Gorgeous little pub tucked away behind Parliament Square
N. D.
Small pub on one of the nicest corners in London. Good for a quick drink outside!
A. I.
Good pub, good veggie burger. Friendly bar man. Nice atmosphere. What more do you want?
N.
Very crowded but has a nice atmosphere
D. W.
Only had a drink here, but a lovely spot for one.
G.
Good friendly staff. Beer nice selection.
C. H.
Great little pub away from the main tourist route. Tasty real ales.
B. T.
Absolutely amazing food and cozy environment. Would come here daily if Iived closer.
D. C.
Pleasant pub with a decent selection of beers. Overspill onto the pavement / road if inside is too busy.
M. D.
Vegan fish and chips!!! Plus good beer. Super clean toilets, and a good atmosphere.
M. M.
Good pub for fortnightly karaoke Fridays. Nice selection of beers, smaller selection of wines and spirits. Food is fairly standard for a Greene King and typical pub grub.
The atmosphere varies depending on what’s on and the weather. Hot days you can expect a huge sprawl of local workers outside as it gets the last of the sunlight.
Inside, it is cosy and traditionally decorated. There is bar space downstairs with a dedicated restaurant upstairs that has its own bar. Lighting is kept low.
Staff are friendly and helpful. Toilets are kept in good nick and are usually clean and well-stocked.
Z. R.
Excellent local pub, perfect for after work drinks
P. C.
We went for our company Christmas lunch. Food was good and was enough of it unlike some with lots of the plate showing! Service was OK as we were a look a large party it took a while to get round. Nothing bad though. There is no parking nearby so be aware. I don't know if they had other toilets but we were on the 1st floor. The toilets we used were up another floor via a very narrow staircase. So if you need better access best check in advance if they can accommodate. Overall a nice place to eat and would recommend.
K. P.
Three ladies and their three dogs - we had the best lunch in this super cosy lovely pub. They welcomed our dogs and the food was good. Great place to stop on a cold winter's day - and oh so festive.
L. E.
Great little pub. Decent beer too. Gets very cramped at busy times. When we were ther last it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The staff are efficient and friendly. Well done all!
R. B.
Nice pub, well kept beer lovely atmoshere, toilets bit of a hyke
R. P.
Great pints and friendly staff. We will be back.
K. H.
We were lucky enough to stumble upon this pub on our first day in London. We visited at the end of November so the whole place was decorated for Christmas inside and out. The decorations on the outside were what drew us in. Live music, friendly and quick bartenders, and plenty of people packed inside sharing tables.
E. F.
Small street corner pub, gets quite busy at lunchtime but has an upstairs dining area which is quieter. Does a reasonable range of food which is priced ok for the area. Range of real ales available. I think the main bar had some air conditioning which you need with this recent hot weather.
L. L.
Fantastic service even during the busy holiday party season. They did their best to seat the 8 of us and serve us quickly even as a Christmas party raged on upstairs. Mulled wine, fish and chips, Christmas dinner selections. It was delicious.
M. W.
Decent little boozer with a good selection of ales. Upstairs seating which is normally much quieter than downstairs, which can get very busy especially in the Summer. Does get booked out occasionally but generally you should be able to find a seat here. In the heart of St James so easy to get to/from.
S. R.
Great pub near Buckingham Palace/Westminster. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Pretty historic interior with some nice wooden beams.
J. M.
Great old pub in the heart of Westminster. Worth a visit any time and has a warm interior with great beers and good food. Recommended on any itinerary.
S. P.
Great atmosphere, great food!
B. K.
Buzzing atmosphere, full of local politicos and office workers- friendly staff and a jostling bar make it a good all-rounder. Super beer selection as well- far superior to other Greene King pubs I've been to.
K. M.
Touted the oldest pub in Westminster. This is a great little traditional pub, food is standard pub fare but executed to good standard. There is a dining area upstairs with a decent selection of comfy chairs. Bar isn't anything special, however is usually filled with an interesting mix of policy bods on weekdays due to the location.
T. L.
Quite a nice Westminster boozer. Rammed at 7 and empty by 10. Excellent Greene King ales. I drank Abbot and would cheerfully drink it again here. There's a very adequate function room with bar upstairs.
C. W.
I never usually get to go to the pub, but this evening, rarely I had time to kill and was walking from the Horticultural Hall to Piccadilly and walked past the packed bar. It was full, I guess, of civil servants after work. I turned round and went in. Thought it would be a nightmare to get served but professional staff had clocked the order in which punters arrived. Good beer, a tall seat at a high table and a chance for both reading and people watching. Shall make the effort to return.
T. P.
There are several pubs around St James's, and they're not all good - this is one of the better ones. Downstairs tends to be more lively, but the upstairs is nice for a quieter space to drink and often has the fire going. Prices are okay (for the area), but the one big downside is the service, which tends to be pretty terrible whenever the pub gets busy.
G. G.
A fantastically quiet and friendly pub, tucked away right outside of Westminster. Safe from the crowds and noise of tourism... Enjoy a pint or some nice and varied pub food in a very typical British pub.
A. B.
Good, old fashioned pub with a very good selection of draft ales, lagers and cider. Step above the more touristy pubs in the Westminster area. Locals/ after work crowd often spill out into the street. Well located for St James's Park and Westminster tube stations.
M. C.
Traditional pub with good beer. However it gets so busy after work it's standing room only, and people spill out into the streets. Tends to be frequented by parliamentary and political staff. Not wheelchair accessible at all.
Y. W.
Nice pub. Burger was ok but could be better
M. F.
Were walking from Big Ben to Victoria train station for the airport, looking to eat in a less touristy place. On a small street reachable from St James park trough a walkway there were 2 proper gentlemen standing near the pub, drinking bear and chatting, so we guessed it should be a good place.
Yest it was. Several bears on tap and really delicious chicken pie, fish and chips, and an apple pie. Looks like only locals inside, fast and sincere service.
perfect completion of our London walk
A. W.
A great quick visit. A fun, crowded pub with good beers. I’m so glad that I stopped by. I only wish that I had more time to spend here.
A.
Where civil servants come after work to brag to each other about how little work they've done and how the taxpayer is so handsomely rewarding them.
It's quite cramped inside so on a nice day the civil servants will spill out onto the pavements which can create a reasonably pleasant atmosphere.
L. L.
Lovely evening for my boyfriend's birthday. Dell made it very welcoming for us and looked after us with delicious food and atmosphere. Definitely recommend :)
J. K.
Great little pub, my little secret!
G. J.
Nice place in Central London. Usually quite crowded and popular among the locals. The staff is nice a responsive.
Walking distance from Westminster Abbey and St. James Park underground station.
D. M. N.
I like this place. Quaint. Traditional. Usually a good beer choice. Can get busy and service can suffer. But that’s all pubs, right?
W. C.
Located nearby Big Ben but hidden to swarms of tourists. Typical stylish English pub You want to visit. Variety of beers to drink. If You are hungry go straight for 'Ultimate Fish & Chips'.
R.
This is a classic traditional pub, where the walls are dripping with the history of nearby Whitehall and the many governments whose civil servants have taken in its hospitality, for some much needed refreshment...
I've been several times for beers after work and despite being very busy, the staff do a great job at delivering a speedy service.
B. B.
We're walked through a cut-thru and found this pub. Many locals hanging out front drinking a pint, told us we found the right place. The steak and wine pie was amazing.
B. F.
Fantastic food and service great ambiance . Probably the best pub food I have had for a very long time. The Steak and kidney pie is a proper old fashioned pie with shortcrust pastry and Fuji of flavour
L. C.
Atmospheric, lively friendly pub. Great food and wide selection of wines, beers, gins and ciders. Very enjoyable.
C. B.
Bit cramped inside, bar is difficult to get to. Beets are good with some good chilled IPA offerings alongside the standard lagers and ales. Outside pavement space faces the sun which is pleasant but can get very overcrowded on hot days.
A. J.
Great classic British pub. Good beers on tap, food's a bit on the ok side but great for a post-work drink.
K. M.

Lovely pub with real ale and good food. This is your best bet for a pint after a visit to Westminster Abbey or Parliament.

Good beer, fast service even when very busy. Good vibe. Recommend trying it.
A. S.
Great place for a Christmas lunch on Christmas Eve, dog friendly and even allowed us to buy a sausage for the pup.
l. r. (.
Good vibe. Drink selection has no gluten free pints 😒worth having a look. Nearby some nice places.
m. a.
Lovely pub with real ale and good food. This is your best bet for a pint after a visit to Westminster Abbey or Parliament.
M. H.
Had a fab office get together here. Staff friendly and superb service 👌
l. r. (.
Good vibe. Drink selection has no gluten free pints 😒worth having a look. Nearby some nice places.
S. G.
Service good. Quiet being just after new year. Portion of fries was too small. The lager seemed watery. 🤔...🧐
J. L.
Nice beer but expensive at £4.70 a pint.
Would definitely put me off drinking here regularly after work on Thurs due to rip off feeling.
B. H.
Standing room only on ground level with a good crowd out front too and only a Wednesday. Upstairs was quiet. Food was affordable but not exceptional.
S. Q.
Decent pub but premises lacking character as well as being over-busy and noisy. There have to better places
J. K.
Isolated location mostly frequented by civil servants working in the area. Standard drink options with some indoor seating. Quickly crowded and often spilling out onto the street.
S. C.
Good traditional pub with a decent selection on draught, tucked away in a Westminster back street. Very small so can get very busy.
M. L.
nice, comfy, cosy place.
t. b.
Small and quaint, but the food looked good and the coffee was lovely. Ladies up two flights, so definitely not wheelchair compatible
P. G.
Great old London pub. Good food at reasonable prices but drinks a bit above average.
L. A.
I really rate this pub. The service on a busy Friday evening was impressively swift and the prices are pretty good considering the location.
T. S.
What a great stop over near the Westminster Abbey. Food was great pub food and owner was really nice. So glad we found our way there.
N. C.
Top quality pub in center of Westminster stones throw from St James' Park and Houses of Parliament.
C. B.
Pretty standard London chain pub, not many people serving so long wait times of its busy. Food is standard, nothing to write home about
L. J.
Lovely little pub, staff always friendly snd the food is good too.
A. G.
It's a nice small cozy pub. Because it's small, it gets crowded easily. Cheaper than the others around the area.
M. M.
Nice place but the fish goujon is just microscopic, pure London rip off! Good but not good value for money at all. A pity.
H. G.
Just the place for a pint before hitting the train home on a Friday evening. Loud, cheerful, warm, crowded and pretty good beer too.
M. Z.
A cozy little Westminster boozer serving a very crisp Paulaner Helles lager. Will be visiting again!
b. O.
Great pub, good service and super pie and mash. Highly recommended.
L. G.
Great pub.good beer.food.atmosphere great.service good even when a large group turn up unexpectedly.I Loved it a real pub.
P. W.
Good pub probably the best in st James's, boar sausage roll is worth trying. Very good selection of beers.
N. S.
Top English pub.
The pint of glory london is the better.
The maid are very lonely
T. J.
It gets too crowded in the lower floor. On the other hand, the area upstairs is the perfect place for a meeting point: cozy and silent.
M. A.
Pleasant staff and fair drinks selection. Expensive however and often crowded with after work groups
D. W.
One bad pint is bad luck, two is very unfortunate but three is sloppy. Was here on a busy Thursday evening but that is no excuse for staff not doing their job properly
D. B.
I great place to visit with friends for a drink with a great environment, however the food is relatively poor, I would eat before you arrive there.
r.
An extremely busy yuppy type pub. Pay before you get your beer. What's that all about? Not my type of place but pleasant enough.
A. S.
Great place for a Christmas lunch on Christmas Eve, dog friendly and even allowed us to buy a sausage for the pup.
M. “. G.
Went here for the 1st time, lovely pub great atmosphere and nice beers.
J. D.
Cozy pub with good beer selection and tasty food an desserts.
W. N.
Great cider! Friendly staff that helped with directions and was patient with my indecisiveness on what to drink...even offered samples! 😁
S. N.
Good Whitehall pub. Gets very busy on a sunny weekday which they never seem to manage to predict staff wise but they are pretty tight on space so hard....
S. W.
Loved the pub and selection of drinks but ladies toilets being two floors up made it impossible for someone with a walking stick.
A. E.
Just popped in for a quick lunchtime drink. No bad points but nothing to say it's great either on this visit.
f. x.
Cosy enough, okay selection of drinks, okay food but a bit overpriced. Convenient location
A. C.
Very busy, but what bar in westminster isn't on a Friday afternoon. 2 for 1 on Peroni and a few other select drinks 4-6
A. N.
Very nice place with some amazing range of gin and wines. Really good to have a good time!
D. S.
Good selection of ales, good pub food, a bit on the expensive side. Often frequented by Westminster politicos and journos
T. H.
Good beer, fast service even when very busy. Good vibe. Recommend trying it.
D. C.
Best place to go for food and great music venue the staff are wonderful and couldn't ask for any think better will highly recommend to anyone if they are in the area and looking for a great atmosphere
S. T.
Food was great but the service is what sets this place apart.
Near St James's Park and Churchill's War Rooms
R. S.
Great little pub, with rolling BBC news, if interested - Nice pint of Guinness
B. S.
Some good beers. Bit crowded as you'd expect for location, but no worse than other locals and not too long for service.
M. K.
Awesome pub, proper place just off the beaten track enough
M. L.
Excellent venue for private function upstairs, great service and friendly staff, easy to park.
R. F. A.
Dogs allowed, really friendly people working there. Good beer, not so good cappuccino!
P. S.
Lovely little pub. Great variety of cider!
K. J.
Gone down hill a bit since they stopped serving Stella and Kronenbourg. Fine if you want expensive, weak lagers.
R. B.
It's not a bad pub, and with a fair selection of beers. But WHY just because it's quiet, is the grim music so loud?
n. t.
Lovely Place. Traditional backgrounds very friendly staff and good prices.
T. D.
Great beer selection. Good pub fare. Great atmosphere.
B. H.
Classic post-work pub for Westminster types. Performs this function perfectly well, but I wouldn't seek out this Two Chairmen at the weekend.
R. W.
Nice atmosphere food normally good shame pub is small in size
I. T.
Decent pub with good beer. Worth a visit if you are close by
S. P.
Good traditional pub that is part of a hotel. Food is good as well.
A. L.
Not bad, but like all pubs around Westminster it has a tendency to be very crowded much of the day.
D. C.
Lovely place. Tucked away from the big salmon runs of tourists. Superb food.
L. d. S.
Small but friendly pub, good selection of wine.
V. B.
Amazing atmosphere here, but unable to order food due to system issues. Will be back for food at some point though!

C. E.
Small and can get very busy, but nice cider and pleasant staff
B. S.

Nice food, reasonably priced. Good space upstairs for meetings and events.
C. I.
Nice atmosphere, good service but the price of drinks is above average
P. G.
Excellent food, good beer, bit cramped and noisy, otherwise, very authentic.
M. G.
Lovely hideaway pub for those who want decent food and a quiet drink.
J.
Stopped for a coffee. I do like these old fashioned pubs with the dark wood interior
C. B.
Nice friendly place. Bar upstairs. Farook the manager is from Uzbekistan.
J. S.
Not a bad place to call in for a couple of drinks, no issues to report from us.
B. S.
Decent enough real ales, and okay if you're looking for a traditional boozer
A. M.
Enjoyed it. Not too crowded and good bar food served quite late.
I. M.
Cozy pub with the historic flavor related to the cockpit stairs just across the street
A. E.
Good ale, decor good, staff good but not enough of them, background music annoying and pointless as can't here it anyway so why bother?
m. d.
Great British fare
M. M.
Great after work atmosphere. Drinking it on the street in the summer as a cool vibe
J. H.
Quite an attractive little pub with an interesting history, which is tucked down something of a backstreet so is all too easily forgotten about.
L. M.
Very friendly pub
R. S.
Like all pubs in the Whitehall area, fine but nothing at all special. And overpriced.
X.
Cool place, good food. A bit too loud though.
J. H.

A bit too busy, they weren't accepting cards and their system had gone down and so it was cash and exact change only.
They were also unable to accept my discount card for the same reason.
But drinks were good and people friendly.

(Translated) More than a restaurant is a pub. More than looking for it, we found it in passing and decided to try. They had the detail of opening the top part, since we were 7 and did not change on the ground floor. The service, correct. The fish & chips, quite oily and worse than on the other site we tried. The price, on the average of other sites (93 pounds for main course and drink for 5 adults and 2 children), but the quality somewhat lower than others.
