Cool decor. Large space, perfect for events. The food is way below standard, but the booze is safe. Despite the large space, it's nice and quiet, so perfect for a lunch meeting, providing you don't plan on actually eating. "Frozen food" is the word here.

We visited this place for the second time today. Our food was delicious this time as well. Waiting time about 15 minutes with an average pub load. And I must say that this place is huge. Really a lot of space and a lot of choice where we want to sit and spend our time. The music was on not too loud, also not disturbing, and put us in a relaxing mood. The service is very nice, both at the bar and at the table. We recommend this place and we will definitely come back more than once. Thank you.

It's alright. The drinks are OK. Didn't eat here. Saturday afternoon and it was dead. The music being played was off putting. Was like Whale song or waves. We moved on pretty quickly. I guess of an evening it would have more guests and be livelier.

Popular high street pub that also serves food. During lockdown, table service is good. Can get hectic, but our visit was at 5pm on a Friday and it was quite quiet.

Great friendly staff. Great food, they do a lovely full English breakfast along with many other mouth watering foods. Lovely friendly atmosphere. Children always welcome and catered for and not seen as a nuisance which is nice. Being lactose intolerant they even cater for me, just ask when you order they are so accommodating.

Good place for a drink but food is not so great. I ordered a dirty burger. Coleslaw salad was not edible. I had literally a 2 big chunks of cabbage, bit of cheese and mayo. Burger looks nice but that's it. Meat was burned and had weird texture. I can recommend that place only if you want to drink something

A very large pub with ample seating inside and outside seating in both a covered and open area with patio heaters for colder times. A fantastic building being a former bank and post office with a splendid glass domed roof. Competitive pricing , plentry of staff so never too long a wait for service. Good everyday choice of beers, lagers and wine also offers a wide choice of traditional pub grub at reasonable prices so good for n economical meal out. No loud music , mixed clientele with good ample clean toilets - very popular and busy at lunch time and evenings situated in middle of town centre by the town hall

Very nice to spend time in but such a shame housekeeping are not on the ball. Floor could be kept much cleaner, so many tables and chairs are wobbly and need tightening up and the dust on the dado rails is so thick that it floats down into drinks and onto food at tables beneath. A few of the toilet seats need fitting properly too as they slide if sat on. Place needs a good deep springclean and maintainance overhaul. Staff are nice and service is good.

Great place, I eat here about once per month and this visit was great as usual, 5 of us, 2 adults and 3 children, they provided the young ones with mock tails. The steaks, chicken and fish pie were all well cooked, presented and flavousome. The staff always look to be helpful. I'm very impressed generally

Had dinner here about 6:00 pm. Food was very good for the price I payed. tables were clean and staff were very friendly. Huge drinks selection on offer. Portion sizes weren't huge but for the price I wasn't expecting vast amounts. Still filled me up. Only downside was the customers were a bit loud. Not a bad bar, the beer is reasonably priced as is the food, nice menu with lots to choose from. Love coming in here at Christmas time it's so festive. My only criticism is the awful music that makes you feel like your stuck in an elevator lol

Vivid and buzzing atmosphere, ideal for a drink after work but also for a Saturday night. The beer garden has a separate bar and gets really crowded during the summer. I haven't tried the food but I'm quite happy with the variety of drinks. Recommended.

A lovely setting for a drink. I love the large beer garden and it has a lovely atmosphere in the summer with the fairy lights. It is always busy here but I think that's because it is such a great place to come for a drink. I think the food here could be improved slightly however it is still nice for pub food. I normally just stick to simpler food like jacket potato or a sandwich which is always quite tasty.

Amazing building, an old bank with a grand glass dome ceiling and lovely arch windows. A very good size and plenty of seating. Even when busy, the high ceilings stops it feeling packed. Decent sized bar and great location.

Nice place for a night out. The main room does suffer from excessive echo noise when there are a large number of people present, this is mainly due to the architecture as you are situated in a large hall with a very high ceiling. To the back there is a very pleasant covered and heated seating area which is where we decided to settle for the duration.

Went here for a Saturday night drink. The place was packed, great atmosphere but very loud in the main room (high ceilings and echoes) and nowhere to sit indoors due to the huge volume of people. The outside area was good, however some of the parasols had holes in them and a few of the outdoor heaters had stopped working so my friends were being dripped on and a cold. Service is good though there is a bar inside and out and decent selection of food and drink (similar stuff to wetherpoons).

Very large pub with a good size outdoor seating area and various bars dotted around the establishment! Centrally located in town with fairly average priced drinks. Quite a young crowd at weekends especially in the evening and can be extremely busy.

Great bar... fantastic beer garden. My only criticism is the young girl behind the bar Phoebe... it's clear that she has never worked behind a bar before when she doesn't know how long people have been waiting to be served... on my visit 4 people got served who came up to the bar after me... maybe more training needed. This was not even at a busy period.

Hit and miss on the food they cook . Sometimes good sometimes bad. You don’t send luke warm food out on a cold plate? Especially the breakfast or anything else that should be served hot. I have been eating here for about twelve months now and finally got round to my dissatisfaction after today’s visit . Lastly please please please find some other choice in music or should that be the noise that you hear from the kitchen ( horrible din) so off putting especially at 10.30am if not please could you keep the volume down.

Eat here regularly. We are normally more than happy.Great place and lovely atmosphere. Lovely sun terrace. Late this afternoon we had a meal that was appalling. 1/4 pounders with cheese. When our food arrive it looked like an over cooked reheated Rustlers Burger, no salad no sauce and no onion or gerkin. Returned food. It came back slightly improved but not the usual standard and to top it off we were 1 meal short out of 3. Staff were very polite and apologetic. Such a shame. We wont be rushing back.

Very roomy, well laid out seating in main bar. Plus clean, covered and open area (with it's own bar) for smokers, vaping & those who like fresh air. Really well thought out. Good selection of wines & beers, pleasant staff. I would suggest it becomes a little noisy on a Saturday night. No fruit machines or music blaring. Very family friendly and accommodating. A tiny bit more expensive than a weatherspoons but, oh! so much nicer. Perhaps it is the slightly higher prices that encourage clientele who enjoy conversation and a drink rather than going somewhere to get drunk. Food menu is not gastronomic - just pub regulars at reasonable prices.

I like the place. Prices are good. Beer could be colder. Chicken sandwich could be grilled chicken instead of cold chicken. They could ask which bread you want. They could serve fries instead of cold tortillas.

We always have a nice meal here and the outdoor area is large with a covered area as well as a open garden space. There's a bar in the garden and you can order food. It gets very busy later in the day and very noisy - if you have kids who react badly to this kind of thing go before 4. 😁

Great place! Food is great, atmosphere is great, staff are great, clientele are lovely, prices are great! Regarding disabled access, this gets tricky! You need to press a doorbell which none of the staff can hear! Usually a customer will get help lol! Then the ramp is lifted down over the steps, but is bent and no body seems keen to fix it which us ok going up but a tad tricky descending! That said, the arrangement inside is fine, the of chair jiggle here and there and the outer area is great for smokers and access alike. My only real hate is the disabled bathroom which is a Tardis like box where the for opens right out into a guest table, which pud me off using it as they then have to move and it's all very public and embarrassing! Still worthy of a top marks score though! Oh, the bouncers tried to encourage me not to enter when it was packed one wkend but fortunately for me, I don't let being a wheelchair user stop me so I wasn't about to let them!

Gorgeous building architecture amazing it's nice that it has a beer garden but it would be better if the first two platforms of the beer garden was smoke-free since the building is old and doesn't have air conditioning it's extremely hot in the summer time to visit this establishment and even worse if you don't want to be around cigarette smoke since the young trendy crowd that comes here at night is consumed with smoking and there is no where to get any relief from the heat even if you're in the beer garden you're in a pile of smoke

Wetherspoons prices but in a stunning building (former Kentish Bank/NatWest branch) with excellent preservation of the original character/features. The terrace at the back is great in both summer and winter (plenty of heaters) with views over the town. Food is reasonable, but good for the price. Normally enough staff on so you don't have to wait. So much better than Spoons - no need to head accross the road to Muggs ever again...

Charismatic pub, was originally a bank. It has a mix of period Victorian character and modern pub/bar. Gets very busy at weekends and lunchtimes. Right in the centre of town and all the major transport points.
