This was one of the highlights of our holiday. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. The food was delicious and we were happy to see some 'normal/healthy' food options. And the price was also more then acceptable. This must have been one of the most pleasant restaurant experiences we've ever had!

I admit I had one of the most exciting dishes I’ve had in ages at The Cock Horse Inn. The mushroom and feta filo pastry parcel was sweet and sumptuous. The pub has plenty of historic character. It’s another local’s pub catering for the drinking class with a restaurant area out back. It, along with the Kings Arms down the road just needs to look over its neighbour’s shoulders in Ightham. It’s heading in the right direction, but needs to up the level of service, food quality and choice to be a must visit pub food venue in Kent.

Really good place. Great food reasonably priced for its high quality. A cosy welcoming atmosphere and staff that look after you. I'd highly recommend this pub to anybody in the Maidstone area. I had a mixed grill from the specials board and an Eton mess for dessert. Both were excellent.

Lovely Sunday lunch meal with family today, child meal (roast chicken) was generous and appealing. Very good service, friendly helpful staff. Homemade puds ( treacle sponge) was a real treat! 😊

This was a surprise, a simple limited menu, quality ingredients cooked well and delicious, party of five we had the sirloin which was tender and cooked to perfection with three different sauces, good salad and chips, the fish and chips very good batter and a large tasty portion of fresh cod. The burgers were excellent too. Good service and nice atmosphere, in this friendly local pub. Beers good would like more choice. Prices very good and plenty of parking.

Disappointed with the very condensed menu. However, our fillet steaks were nicely cooked and well presented. Not much atmosphere in the place and although we had booked a cab for 10pm we were told at 9.40pm that we had to leave at 9.50pm and wait outside. Won't be back there again.

We had a great evening as a family but left disappointed. Been back. Still a nice place to go. Nice cosy pub with decent looking, secluded restaurant. Did not eat there so cannot comment. Warm wood fire, pleasant governor. Will be going back.

Our car broke down half a mile from here and this pub was a lovely place to be 'stranded' at while waiting for rescue. Very friendly staff made us feel welcome and at home, lovely food with plenty of options to choose from for lunch.

Glorious old building, truly fantastic food and warm and welcoming landlords. As a country pub goes, this is fantastic. 14th Century building with original beams, in a quiet part of the county...but just a throw away from the M20. If you're ever passing...MAKE the detour. You won't be disappointed!

Great Roast Dinner in a hidden away area! We normally only have a home cooked roast but always make an exception for here! Small portion of potatoes but loadd of meat and veg - extra potatoes can be ordered!! Nice friendly staff and good service, used to just turn up and get a table but a lot harder recently as more popular!

Only four stars because the acoustics are bad: too many hard surfaces, all the voices echoing, uncomfortable sound, possibly would be better with more people in the bar (soft surfaces). Definitely worth another visit.

Excellent pub located right on the pilgrims way and very well run by Tony and Kim. Great food, good value for money but you might have to book in advance for Sunday lunch because they're so popular. Real ales from Greene King of Bury St.Edmunds. Easy parking.

I can truthfully say that my experience at The Cock Horse Inn at Detling was absolutely amazing. I was looking for a venue for a family gathering following a cremation service nearby and when Kim was approached, even though it was the morning the pub is usually closed, she so kindly agreed to allow us to have our private wake at the pub. The selection of buffet food, both hot and cold, was superb and thoroughly enjoyed by all, especially the roast potatoes & the pulled pork! Full marks to Kim and the team who looked after us so well. Good wholesome home cooked food including cake and delicious black forest scones with cream. I would wholeheartedly recommend this venue. Thank you so much to you all for uplifting us after a sad experience.
