Visited here twice in 3 days. 6 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 dogs. Food came quickly. A mixture of menu items and carvery and we couldn’t fault any of it. The staff here are amazing, we were all made to feel very welcome (the dogs included). One evening we were celebrating a birthday and had taken our own cake with us. Nothing was too much bother for the staff and they kindly provided us with a lighter, knife and plates. Big shout out to Shane and his Dream Team, keep up the good work and next time we are in Manchester we will be back!

First of all I’d like to say that the manager was so welcoming and engaging. I’ve been to a few Green Kings before but Shane was by far the best. His customer service skills are out of this world. I had the carvery and for the price it was faultless. Really tasty and the gravy was amazing. Would highly recommend. Family friendly and has a really nice feel to the place. Absolutely enjoyed tonight. Won't lie we have been put off in the past. But the manger that has taken over went above and beyond. We thought we would give it another try when we heard there was changes there and I'm so glad we did. Food was amazing service was amazing. So glad its gone back to being great. So we have gone here many times over the years but not recently. This visit was to collect a 'too good to go' carvery box, which was excellent. It shows the quality of food is excellent when you can collect some of it at closing time in a cardboard box, and drive it home, and it still tastes excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful, parking is free, location is good.

I had a nice evening with my husband today. The carvery served by Dan was of very good quality. The vegetables were well cooked and seasoned well the way I like it. Such a lovely experience, came in yesterday morning for breakfast. The lady behind the bar was lovely real great help. Had a lovely carvery with the family here last weekend, the food was delicious. Top Notch! The pub was clean and had a really good selection of ales, Unfortunately the child in our party had a tantrum which caused a bit of a scene but the lovely staff were very accommodating. I visited today with my children during the school holidays and took them to the wacky warehouse and for food… although the wacky was very busy and little seating for parents/carers I would definitely recommend the restaurant/bar, I was feeling rather stressed due to the business of the wacky and 3 kids in tow but was impressed by both the range of food and quality, and also the bar man Sean/Shaun who served me and was very patient with a fussy order! Will definitely be coming back for food and drinks

We had dinner here on two nights (Sunday and Monday). The first night we had a bacon and cheese burger with fries and a pint. The burger tasted like a 5 Guys burger (one of the best in my opinion). It was delicious. The fries were delicious. We didn't realise that the burger and pint came as a meal deal for just £8! Bargain! On Monday we had Ultimate Fish and Chips. It consisted of a huge fish, tasty chips, mushy peas, chip shop style curry sauce, bread and butter and tartare sauce. It was delicious but there was so much that we couldn't finish every scrap of it - and we never leave food on our plates! Just on the food alone I would heartily recommend this place. But I have to give a shout out to the staff, and in particular Sarah and Sophie who looked after us both nights. Super friendly and efficient. They are a credit to the company and they really made us feel like valued customers. Thank you, Sarah and Sophie!

Took my grandchildren to the Wacky which was busy but the kids had a good time. Went for some food. We hadn't book, tried to online but we were seated by Shane, who spent time chatting with us and interacting with my 3 year old grandaughter. What a lovely little gem we found today. Whilst i had a hospital appointment up the road my husband had lunch and the children played in the wacky Warehouse attached to the pub. We searched for a soft play and this was the first result. In Parrs Wood/ Didsbury on the entertainment area but tucked at the SIDE and hard to find. Once there we were welcomed in the soft play by Charlie who was brilliant even though she called me Dad when I was with my nice and nephew. Great 1.5 hours of play for just £5 and helpful staff who clearly love their jobs. The other lady informed me we could take the kids into the pub and eat, which was so easy. The pub itself is large with a good menu and again happy staff, the barman William was hapoy to talk my fussy 5yo nephew through the menu and even changed the veg so he got what he wanted. The waitress Steff helped me calm the kids down and gave them some colouring to do then made sure we were OK. I can't rate the staff higher. The food was great for the price and the venu although dated has everything under one roof. Amazing day out. Thank you. We will be back.

My son is 8 and finds new experiences overwhelming. We came to the Barlow Croft for something to eat while staying in Manchester and were just about to order when my son wanted to leave. We apologised to Will who immediately asked my son if he wanted a job, gave him a badge and off they went cleaning. This calmed him down and allowed us to eat. I can't thank Will and Sophie enough, they saved our day. We will definitely be back.

I love a cavery... and not many pubs/cavery places can do a good cavery with soft veg and nice meat.... but Barlow Croft is the place to go for the perfect cavery. Meat is so beautifully cooked you know it’s been done with care, the veg is nice and soft and tender, the roast potatoes are bloody lovely, and the gravy is not to runny like most places. Kids enjoy eating here too, always a lovely enjoyable visit for us all when we call n for our weekly cavery

It's ok! Small cosy place. Choice of carvery or main menu. Service on main menus was a bit slow. The carvery has a good selection of vegetables but the meat is carved for you and not much was given. Disproportionate in my opinion.

Lovely pub situated right next to the Travelodge and cinema complex/arcades. Nice open plan space with loads of seating areas. Really friendly staff and a pool table where the first game is free! We had the carvery which was lovely and there was both Carling and Coors on tap which are my two faves 🤩😂

"Response from the owner an hour ago [three (3) years later] Three isn't good enough in our books, what could we have done to get your rating to five stars?" Thanks for the belated reply. From memory have some cask / Abbot Ale on, clear tables occasionally, but above all enforce your adults only section, so we don't get unsupervised behaviourally challenged children running around it screaming while we tried to enjoy our meal! The carvery itself was pretty good IMO. I have not returned since, although that is largely down to Covid.

When I came in, I was served by such a lovely girl called Sophie, she was so polite and kind, she took me to my table and took my order. It came within 2 minutes, maybe if that! I was treated so so nice, nicer than some places! Sophie made sure everything with my order was fine and said if she can do anything more she will. She did, she was amazing at table service, always giving her best! She was an absolute delight! I will definitely be back after the amazing service!! Love this place!

Only place in the area that does a carvery even though it's the social distancing version ( you pick the stuff, they plate it). Good pub to visit if you are worried about social distancing.They manage it really well and it feels very safe. Prefer you ordering by app but you can still order at the bar if you need to and they bring your drinks and food over to you. All the staff were very patient and pleasant.

Fairly mediocre carvery. Everything was hot. Plenty of choice for veg, gravy, sauce etc. You can pay an extra £1 for 2 pigs in blankets and a second Yorkshire pud. Thought this was quite good value as the sausages were full size, but they'd barely cooked the bacon which for a fatty cut tastes quite unpleasant. Veg was fine, quite bland, some very overcooked. Definitely felt like a mass catering style thing, quality was not top priority. Service was good in that we had no wait, but certainly no customer service skills. No eye contact, no smiles, felt a bit like we were annoying staff by existing. They weren't rude, just very unenthusiastic and probably underpaid and overworked. It's alright but probably should be a few quid cheaper for the quality.

The food here was really nice, I got the cod and chips and the cod was hand battered and very tasty. My boyfriend got the mixed grill and really enjoyed it. My boyfriend asked if they did cauliflower cheese as a side, or if he could pay to have some from the carvery. The lady called Sarah, was really nice and allowed him to have some as the carvery was finished and it was just going to be wasted. It was very kind and she came over to check on us during our meal. She really showed good customer service and I would say that's what made our experience here all the more enjoyable.

Long standing customer & long wait for food on this visit. 2 meals missing from large group and when arrived had clearly been re-heated and spoiled! Manager offered refund so fair play. First time felt the need to complain so will probably give them another chance? Few tips for better customer experience..... make sure diners have cutlery before food arrives and a few smiles wouldn't go amiss!

Don't know why the reviews are so negative!? Staff were great (especially the short barmaid... she had a great friendly attitude), the pub was kept very clean and food was spot on for the price! 5 of us ate for 35 quid and I had the 20oz steak!! (Which i have to say was cooked perfectly rare) ... it's better than the Bell House was overall really (and that was a decent pub too) Wacky Warehouse was also great for the kids ... my eldest was about 4 cm to high to go and play .. which was a little bit of a a downer for us ... but that's a good thing if I'm honest... shows you that no bigger kids will be running into the smaller ones Will return here without a doubt! Liked the food however the service on food should be served later than 7. As was told food was stopped being served and didn't have no desserts. Same with play area closed to early than expected. Also a cloth or napkins should be kept at the side of the self service carvery as the tongs was too hot too touch & the woman carving the meats was moaning saying she not getting paid extra to serve customers. :/

The general staff are nice enough, the venues ok, very much child friendly, so if you have children Def for you, if you don't like kids maybe elsewhere is for you.

Arriving at 2.15pm to realise the carvery finishes at 2.30pm I was pleasantly surprised by how much variety was still left. Food was very tasty and to a decent temperature. Had to wait a while for the carver to serve us that's why only 4 stars. He was apologetic when he came out though. Carvery is served until 2.30pm then starts again at 4.30pm

Just had a mother's day meal here and I need to review because it was so good. The food, atmosphere and price were, as always, perfect, but what has really impressed me tonight is the staff: even though it's been really busy (and probably has been all day) they're all coping really well with the rush, still being lovely and friendly and going above and beyond. The manager has even been handing out little boxes of chocolates to all the mothers - so thoughtful! The whole team deserves a round of applause today, thank you to everyone on shift 😊

The food at the Barlow Croft is delicious; I've eaten there on a number of occasions recently and haven't had a bad meal. The staff are really friendly and caring too (my husband is in hospital at the moment and they are all genuinely caring about his progress and my health too). The place is spotless, even the ladies toilets on the busiest of nights! I cannot fault this place and would happily recommend it to anyone.

The macaroni cheese here needs some improvement... Very small portion, and not great quality either. The ciabatta that comes with it was soggy and the side salad is just some iceberg lettuce and tomato. The other meals our party ordered we great though! Would recommend this place for meat eaters but not vegetarians.

The food here is beautiful , but it is the staff that make the place . They could not be more friendly and helpful if they tried. They completely went out of their way to help me arrange a very last minute birthday get together and for that I thank them. Loads of free parking and cheap drinks in a clean and tidy pub! Been a few times now and every single time they have given us the wrong food, the staff are friendly but the food is naff. the play area attached (wacky warehouse) is terrible if your child is under 5, they are confined to a small soft play area while the older children run swing and slide.

Don't know what all these other reviews are about... because some of them seem just totally BS. Nice food, cheaper than pretty much everywhere else thanks to the buy 1 get 1 free deal and we always have a good time when we go with our son. These people saying they're not happy that staff wouldn't supervise their children...you're their parent. That's YOUR job. Anyway...good place for food and drinks and the manager has always been polite and very helpful everytime we and our friends and family have been so some of these reviews seem to have been written by (more than likely) pretty unsavoury characters.

Service brilliant can't fault it, food mediocre, roast potatoes not crispy enough and tasted like cheap frozen ones and my daughter was disappointed the chocolate pizza didn't look like a pizza, the mixed grill sausages weren't up to standard either, this review is not a reflection on the staff moreso the quality of the food, i suppose when serving carverys in bulk something has to compromise. Hopefully Greene King takes on board that some things with the food could be improved.

No real ale unfortunately and attached kids play gym means it's a noisy child busy location. Not a place for a quiet, romantic meal. Cannot fault it as a Great value carvery pub.

On having eaten a very goid carvery. My grandsons went to play on a machine that picked up a soft toy. On putting a pound in the machine there was no response. The machine did nothing. So having lost his money and got nothing for it. It would have been better to tirn the danm thing off with an out of order notice attached. And perhaps there less children would be upset.
