Reviews of The Dog & Partridge
K. B.
Used to come years ago and it wasn't bad but more of an old man pub vibe. Popped in yesterday with my partner for one and ended up having three or four. Good music, lovely guy behind the bar making ice boats for our gins. (Manager/one of the owners?) Didn't catch his name but he made the experience better. Good banter, made to feel welcome and got to sit in the nook round the corner of the bar like old times. Great place to start the night off. Will be going again.

Value for money bustling pub. Good selection of drinks and polite attentive bar staff

Called in the dog and partridge this afternoon and the bar staff and food were excellent it's the best food I've had in ages we will definitely be calling back

For an average side of the road pub it was a great atmosphere. After the pubs have been closed for so long. Went in for 1 pint but stayed for 4. Table service, and the bar tender Cam was amazing with great banter and very attentive to customers needs. He knew what we wanted before we even ordered and was so nice. We are happy customers and will be back. You are awesome Cam 👌

Midweek drink watchin the footy,,, free cheese & crackers , can't ask for more..👍

Very impressed with the refurbishment. They have managed to retain the charm of the old pub and open it up and make it feel more contemporary. What us equally important is that the quality of service has not changed even though the staff have. A country mile better than most pubs in the area. Price of drinks might put some people off and i would like to see better range of lagers but overall it is still my favourite pub by some distance.
C.
Very loud after 9pm, no doubt due to people taking advantage of the £3 per pint offer on Thursdays. One bar tender young, polite and helpful, the other perfunctory.
Nice and clean. Four stars attributable to the beer offer !
O. T.
Great little pub, friendly staff, good beers and a good gin selection.
We came on a Sunday afternoon, it was pretty quiet but the service was good. They show football and also serve pie-minister pies, which smelled delicious.

Great interior! cosy pub atmosphere but clean and well maintained. Feels classy and upmarket but still reasonably priced drinks and friendly helpful staff. Smartly dressed barmen helped me choose from their great selection of gins and didn't make me feel bad for being very indecisive. I'll definitely be heading back to try another sometime soon ☺

A good selection of real ale or craft beer in a nice setting and atmosphere. I hadn't been to Didsbury for many a year and this looked liked the most appealing place and we weren't disappointed. The staff were fine the beer good and decoration pleasant and appealing. Look forward to going back.

This is a nice place for a good pint and watching the sports. The dogs are varied and well behaved. The bar can be a bit loud on Saturdays. Otherwise, I highly recommend going here if you are travelling through the village!
G. A.
Had some good times here watching the football. Was with a German work colleague one time and the staff were so accommodating by giving them a taster of all the trad beers so they could have a ‘proper’ English pint. Nice, friendly patrons too.

Two double G&Ts for £10. What's not to like? Nice village pub which was almost ruined when it was turned into a Terroir pub in 2017. Now refocused as a village pub rather than an overpriced cocktail bar, the character has returned.
D. A.
This is a traditional British pub, which seems to be well run. I enjoyed my visit here.
It was clear that many a local attends this pub as everyone seemed to know each other and all of the staff. However it was friendly and welcoming.
The drinks selection was ok and Im not sure they do food. I would go back if I was in the area.
M. M.
Refurbished in late 2017 to give a tidier appearance throughout. Bare floorboards, and rustic walls meet plenty of TV screens showing sport. L-shaped interior with bar to the right side; a small snug area is at the front offering shelter from the buzz of activity elsewhere. Cask ale offering reduced to two beers now, with Taylor Landlord being permanent. Decent enough place to while away a few hours.
G. F.
I'd not been in for over a year. The place looked great after being done up. Service was a lot better. I even managed to get some table service.... I asked the guy collecting the glasses if he could get us some drinks and he said yes. I nearly kisses him. Fab service, especially on a Saturday night.

This pub has a really lovely atmosphere at any time of the week.
I really like the stack of board games and the peanut barrel at the back of the pub.
I've never eaten there but the selection of beers is really good, my faves are Crabbies and Singa beer
S. D.
A favourite of mine in the heart of Didsbury.. a great authentic pub, that's always busy.. friendly service, great selection of ales and beers, serving the greatest of all Landlord..
If that isnt enough to tickle your fancy, they also have an array of tasty treats to try from the counter at the bar.. From homemade pork pies, cheeses, olives and meats. The sweet chilly pork pie is a must try, it is locally made and tastes delicious, perfect accompaniment to a pint!!
Great friendly service!!
C. B.
Plenty of telly's for sport dog friendly! Food overpriced first what you get ie pie peas &gravey £9 !!! (A small pie &peas)two or 3 ales at £4
J. C.
Nice atmosphere and lovely decor, really good gin and tonic offers on too. They do a cheese night on a Wednesday which is lovely, free of charge!
M. S.
As always great staff, coping with changes, fabulous environment for a chilled drink with mates.....
J. W.
Trying a bit too hard to be trendy since it's been renovated. Decent selection of beer and gin though. Could do with a few soft furnishings to absorb some of the noise.
C. P.
Great pub. I especially like the atmosphere. But the best thing of all is the barrel of free monkey nuts. Now some people wont like the fact that the shells are all across the floor by the end of the night and bla bla bla, but it adds a really nice quirky feel to the place.
J. P.
The first time I drunk in the Dog and Partridge they served monkey nuts during the pub quiz, which was enough for me to add it to my above-par local pubs list. The D&P is in the heart of Didsbury village and it's beating soul could be described as being the very thing. A great place to sit with the windows flung open on one of those glorious days in the Manchester sun, and as one of the few pubs in the area that serves Timmy Taylor's Landlord it's one not to miss.
D. M.
Pretty standard collection of beers, ok service, lacks a distinct personality...just an average pub.
T. F.
The Dog & Partridge is a solid pub which has retained plenty of character. It stands out from the crowd in an area of Manchester that is more typically lined with pubs offering 2 for 1 meals or refurbed bars. There's plenty of nooks to claim for the evening and the interior is homely.
As others have mentioned, there's free monkey nuts on offer, but for a few quid you can treat yourself to one of their gourmet pork pies or a well stacked cheese board. If the sun's shining, position yourself in the wide open window seats and wash your food down with a few pints of Timothy Taylor's Landlord.
L. B.
Love the new refit! Beautiful bar full of character and great choice of wines. Table service if you want it too
R. L.
Was a great pub gone down hill a bit in recent times lost a lot of it character and some of its beers after a refit. Still decent enough
M. M.
Yee-Olde Pub in the centre of Didsbury that ain't too posh. Decent prices and not too crowded on the Tuesday evening we went to 'talk shop and old colleagues'.
r. s.
Nice beers and pie
S. M.
Nice cozy local pub with sky sports. Also only £3.00 a pint for Carlsberg any day.
G. P.
They did a revamp so aesthetically pleasing I guess. Poor selection of rum (as in you can't get a cheap rum and coke). No pork scratchings either.
L. F.
Lovely traditional pub
A. D.
Great real ale pub with a lovely atmosphere if you want to be able hear the people you are with unlike some bars in Didsbury
S. B.
A decent pub, following all the covid protocols. Normal selection of beers on tap.
C. G.
Lovely atmosphere attentive staff great wine.
P. K.
Great traditional pub. Lovely to see that dogs are welcome. We will be back.
S. R.
Bar maid is a credit to the pub lovely pud
K. B.
Used to be a cosy dog friendly hide away from the chain bars in Didsury. A refurb in 2017 however has stripped it of its charm unfortunately.
E. H.
The 2 beardy barman are proper hosts and make this a very friendly bar. Always come back.
Nice one!
N. J.
Good beer, nice people but it smells a bit funky and it's not nice having to waft flies away every 2 mins.
A. H.
Much better than than that 'Terroir' nonsense. Nice pub.

(Translated) It's not bad but they never have glasses, when you drink your pint you always get beer, the rest is good!
(Original)
No esta mal pero nunca tienen porta vasos, cuando tomas tu pint siempre te mojas de cerveza, lo demas bien!
