Reviews of The Gateway - JD Wetherspoon
A. E.
Staff were helpful and friendly. The food and drink was excellent and the inside was clean and well decorated. The reason I'm taking off 2 stars is because of the bizarre propaganda pamphlet left on each table, outlining how the company has been "wronged" by the media. Who on earth thought it would be a good idea to print a sham editorial "Does Truth Matter" document for Wetherspoons? Completely inappropriate (but certainly right wing behaviour) to print up these ridiculous displays of vanity and attack both the media and members of parliament.
A. L.
Lovely well positioned pub in East Didsbury which we've been going to for many years. Very popular amongst locals. Staff are very efficient and friendly. Great deals typical of the chain. Free refills of hot drinks a bonus😁. The toilets are very, very clean. The only niggle is that lately we've had smaller portions and the fried eggs were a bit rubbery....but that won't stop us going back!!
N. A.
Was a great sunny day out, for a long canal walk within the Didsbury area with a good banking contact plus friend.
The Gateway proved the perfect venue for us to enjoy an excellent late "outdoor sunny lunch" alongside trying out three of Gateway's different coffees! All most enjoyable
Great crowd. Great service. Will be back.
Happy Days!
A. S.
Easy to get to free parking over at the cinema. Plenty of outdoor seating on the converted carpark. Great beer and tasty food. - we had the curry and all day brunch. Ordered quickly through the app. Cheerful staff.
D. M.
Fast service food was ok staff friendly. There sanitiser station was empty and when I mentioned it I was told they had no more. No tables were wiped after customers finished and under several tables were food remnants hygiene standards have dropped a lot recently.
w.
What's not to like? Good food and drink, good prices. There was plenty of seating indoors on the 5 occasions we ate here (3 X dinners, 2 X breakfasts), and tons of outdoor seating too. At the moment (during Covid restrictions) you can order food and drinks via the Wetherspoons app or you can scan the QR reader on the front of the menu. The staff will also come and take your order at the table if you don't want to use the app/QR code. The car park has been turned into outdoor seating. Great staff.
M. D.
Yet another Wetherspoons but in a different building. And what a nice building it was. Food came quickly. The food was good. Bottomless cups of coffee or tea. Service with a smile. Clean toilets. What more can I say.
S. O.
The ambiance was pleasant, good selection of beers and wine. And the snack food was delivered hot, with a variety of dips and it was very good.
Enjoyable lunch.
F. M.
The food in here is great! When you first arrive it’s hard to park since you have to cross the busy road but not too much pain. The food is amazing and I would highly recommend. Track and trace is used effectively. The refillable coffee is amazing too 😊
K. B.
Good choice on menu, food cooked well, quick service good choice of drinks at reasonable prices ,coffee tea, free refills. Parking can be a problem at busy periods .
Interior a bit dark for my liking but no complaints.
J. P.
Excellent service and great food and drink served here, friendly staff very welcoming. Would definitely recommend.
J. t.
Food is great and the customer service was brilliant. There is a great atmosphere here and will definitely recommend.
J. J.
Good local pub, only issue is some staff just didn't accept legal types of ID so had to leave which was rude...
E. G.
Much better here than other wetherspoons I've visited recently the one in Keswick had no steak and the one in Lancaster had stopped serving food cos they were busy!thought that was the point of the place it seemed busy here as well but they didn't turn people away and staff seemed very friendly too
J. L.
It is what it is, nothing fancy, cheap and cheerful but I've got no complaints either. Staff are friendly and helpful and the food is actually really good. Full veggie brunch for 6 quid is great value! It's not the Ritz but for a cheap meal it's pretty good.
D. G.
Had dinner here a little while back, well impressed, decent portions and quick service with friendly staff, cant fault the beer or prices either.
One of the best spoons I've been to
C. L.
Very good range of beers, nice decor, staff friendly and accommodating. Car park could be bigger, although there is parking across the road at the leisure complex. Short walk to East Didsbury metrolink station. There is disabled access off the car park, tricky to spot.
J. *.
Cheap and great service. Busy place without the football matches played on the TV screen being a focus for people to go and get drunk.. Good food for the price..
I.
Within easy walking distance of both the railway station and the tram station.
Didn't have to wait long for the food all the drink at a busy lunchtime.
C. M. (.
Really lovely staff, curry club was really greatly appreciated after a 12 hour shift. Beef Madras was really tasty and well devoured. A pint included in a well priced deal. Can't beat it for a Thursday night tea on the way home. 👍
S. B.
Had lovely meal out family covid regs but meals lovely. Staff polite helpful grandchildren enjoyed meals puddings went down treat. Definetly going again.
J. R.
Continues to be a good atmosphere and the food has improved a little although on one occasion when dining outdoors the service was unacceptably slow.
N. L.
Food is always decent, reasonably priced and arrived quickly after ordering.
Only down side for us was they had no coloring pencils for kids like they normally have.
A. D.
Fantastic experience. I’ve never been in a pub like it.
E. B.
Very pleasant staff. Food really good. Would recommend.
M.
Popular Spoons handy for the large leisure complex opposite. Beer garden is noisy due to location on busy junction. Food quality varies. Had some good dishes plus the odd disaster. Real ale usually very good.
L. M.
Good value for money in general. But the pizzas are a little poor in ingredients. I had the ham and mushroom. It hardly had one mushroom sliced, very little ham could hardly see it and taste it. Too little mozzarella. Please be a little more generous .
I. B.
I visit this pub approx once a week. Today (Saturday Lunchtime) fairly busy. The pub is spotlessly clean, tables laid well with condiments and menus and cleared quickly. There is a great relaxed atmosphere and the staff offer service with a smile. The regular customers are friendly too. Well worth a visit.
D. F.
Typical Wetherspoons, with a small carpark, good table service.
R. S.
I found that all the staff was very helpful and provided wonderful service, i am going to recommend it to all my friends and family.
D. E.
Visited here after bowling, we wanted to oder some pitchers of cocktails, but all cocktails were off the menu which was a shame and we didn't get told why. Main reason I normally visit a spoons is for the cocktails!
Only stayed for a couple of drinks. We sat outside and the atmosphere of the place seemed nice and relaxed. Staff were all friendly and there was table service. Didn't try any food there so can't comment on that but overall was a nice enough pub
C. N.
Busy place food came out cold and peas were shrivelled up like they had been under a heat lamp only reason we went there is because its quiz night at Wilfred Wood and quizmaster is full of himself we try to avoid on a Wednesday otherwise good pub
T. H.
Visited late Sunday night for a quick bite to eat. It was obvious it had been a busy day, many of the tables hadn't been cleaned. So once we found a table the Whetherspoons app decided to play up, so i went to the bar to pay to be informed the card terminal had gone down. Thankfully I was able to use the scanning facility on the table. Ive been here a few times previously and usually very good. Just unfortunately caught it at the end of a busy day this time.
c. c.
Excellent as always..good atmosphere.beer and food..plus good staff .we love our visits there..let it carry on through to 2022
P. S.
Friendly staff with quick service - not the greatest amount of space inside so probably gets super rammed during busier times!
D. P.
Lovely fish and chips, friendly and helpful staff, will go back again.
S. D.
Great selection of drink and food which is bloody good value. Never had one bad experience. Well worth a visit. For £11, sirloin Steak & drink, you can't go wrong. Staff are always polite and helpful, big carpark and always a good atmosphere. Plenty of food and new drinks on the menu, for a weatherspoons you cannot go wrong.
D. S.
Great food, great prices as is always the case. Parking can be a bit tricky in busy hours but there's always the big car park across the road.
R. M. C.
Great food (fish Friday), beer festival, good service and exceptional value.
Returned again for steak night, back to usual standard. Lamb in mixed grill superb, colleagues remarked on steak quality.
C. B.
Beer OK good choices but the serlon stake at £11.85 ish with a drink not worth it for the price a few chips very fatty stake it's the first time in a long time since I have had a meal there I won't be rushing back again. & it needs a revamp the portions have gone down like everywhere but that was not weatherspoons was all about
D. M.
Good choice of cask beers, and quick service pleasant staff and suroudings
K. S.
Usual Spoons. Good value. Cheap and cheerful. Bonus..loos are on the ground floor.
d.
Brilliant place ,friendly staff ,didn't like all the items on breakfast menu so they added extra sausages. It wasn't any trouble at all , going again asap or a soon as my stomach is empty
R. A.
Friendly staff, mine and my wife's breakfast could have been hotter but overall a decent place.
S. F.
I wont lie I only go weatherspoons for food as its cheap as chips and good quality food, breakfast is spot on!
j. h.
Very good value. Great car park back. Good staff. Nice food
n. r.
Its not a bad place, only ever had one bad meal here .nice cheap beer , what more could you ask for
K. M.
They ran out of specials very quick but all in all a good day
M. R.
Really nice place, lovely food for the price. Friendly atmosphere
J. W.
Food was good as usual and service was quick but have to say the staff larking around, squealing and shouting in the kitchen was really unprofessional and manager said absolutely nothing to them. All for staff having a bit of banter and fun at work but really ridiculous screams and shouts from kitchen area.
M. C.
Very nice pub , well organised and friendly, good beers and whisky on all very reasonable, wish we had eaten there will be back, thank you .
A. W.
Another of the wonderful buildings saved by Wetherspoons. This one an Art-Deco style building that would have ended up a derelict otherwise. The pub, staff and facilities are the standard Wetherspoons, and there is nothing wrong with that.
A. F.
Ordered a couple of drinks, and some chips and onion rings. Service was very swift using the app. The food came quickly too and was served hat and crispy. Great value.
D. D.
Great food,,, great service,,, great afternoon spent here...
K. C.
Great place for food and drinks every time i visit
D. S.
Not bad staff need to have more manners
and need to stop being pushy.
C. B.
This place is class, full of characters, my mate Seb would often take dates there.
M. B.
Stop for drinks before going on to have birthday meal.
d. j.
You know what you get with a weatherspoons and this doesn't dissappoint great building good service and a good atmosphere as well
T. W.
Always had good food here
r. w.
Brilliant food and great service from friendly staff
P. H.
Had the Empire State burger, it was really nice, cheers
C. B.
Food ok. Tables need cleaning more regularly.
K. P.
After attending Robbie Williams concert at The Etihad on Friday 2june we needed a chill and this was the place. Excellent experience in the gateway food was excellent and drinks were lovely.
G. C.
Breakfast at a great price. Its Wetherspoons, you know what you're going to get and its always good.
J. H.
Lovely breakfast , great value
S. F. H.
Great choice of ale at ridicous prices. Good food too.
P. S.
Good service, plenty of room with outdoor seats also
A. N.
Nice atmosphere, nice food,
Friendly place
Recommended
P. F.
Good service. Place nice and clean.
M. M. A. M.
We bought 2 breakfasts on a Sunday morning. The service was a little slow, but the food was good quality, decent sized portions and both for less than a tenner as we used student vouchers. I sometimes wonder how they manage to do great food at such low prices.
C. M.
Was not a bad experience. Food came reasonably quickly.
I. W.
Good prices and a patio bordered by two busy roads for maximum urban ambiance. If you've been to a Wetherspoons pub then you'll likely find your experience here quite familiar.
B. M.
Nice place.quick to serve food.cheap
C. D.
Spacious, comfortable and clean. Toilets well kept, parking adequate or local. Public transport near and regular as are other amenities such as cines . Economical in the extreme, great beer prices ( a pint of Irish cider for less than 2 pounds, come on!) ....especially on a Monday. Food, comforting and at a great price. Fast, efficient service too. No brained where to go when in the area.
J. M.
Hi it was lovely the meal was great I had jacket potato and salad was just right and my husband had ham and egg with chips that was great to . thanks weatherspoons for a lovely meal
C. C.
Pretty standard Wetherspoons. Food was of usual spoons quality and price. Staff were efficient and good with dealing with the large number of customers.
V. F.
This public house, keeping its original name has upgraded the area for pleasant lunchtime drinking. It did run down with the late opening but has now become a worthwhile visiit at lunchtimes. Meals available, reasonably priced and still of good quality. I have no information as yet about evening visits, but watch this space!
B.
A lovely cozy pub with a real fire. Fast and friendly service. Unlimited free refills on tea and coffee too. Meals are well presented. Nice to relax with a drink and while away the time, people watching.
D. M.
Yes very good value! Eat out to help out. Busy-ish but ok. Nice place. Don't think they should allow customers to smoke vapes inside. Inconsiderate of those doing it as it spreads droplets further.
D. P.
Weatherspoons pub and does what it says on the tin. Cheap as chips and quick service. Opens at 9am and handy for the tram stop.
S. R.
Nice busy pub across from parrswood, great food and service.
P. M.
Busy place with cheap beer and reasonable food. Hygene is an issue though. Staff used the toilet and left without washing hands. Also a large volume of unwashed glasses stacked along the bar. Was there for 4- hours and the empties from our table were not removed. Could do better.
K. B.
Plenty of outdoor seating available during Covid
The ordering on the app was easy enough but doesn't cover all the drinks so a wee bit fiddly so you need a staff member to help out.
Food was typical weatherspoons, enjoyed eating out alfresco.
s. p.
Love the food and atmosphere staff are amazing friendly people will be coming back soon
L. P.
Love looking at the walls in here with pictures of Dr White and the bus route from piccadilly Gardens! Food was nice only one snag my bf was shocked at the uniform of one of the female staff .... not appropriate
j. d.
Sat outside on lovely warm evening with a couple of wobbly bobbly beers. A great venue with cheap beers. Had a great time.
A. V.
Was served by the gorgeous and smiling Abbie she took our order promptly and professionally her amazing service and gorgeous smile made the food taste even better then it was and me and my friend are definitely coming back very soon she was even so polite when it came to taking the payment
G. H.
Nice place for a quick meal and a choice of drink
S. B.
If only outdoor seating was comfortable and disabled friendly. Staff nice but slow if you are not a regular.
R. H.
Called in with my daughter on Fish Friday. Ordered and paid for meal and a drink at the rable using the app. Large tasty cod in a perfect batter, chips and peas with a pint of Guiness all for £7.75 Very busy of course but we found a table. Very pleasant atmosphere.
T. F.
We had the fish chips & peas the fish was out this world white and the batter was crispy the best that I have had for a few years 5***** .
L. H.
Lovely food, large portions, good prices too
H. S. J. W.
Good selection of drinks. Lively. Fair price. Cheap food. Decent amount of seating. Good coffee. Good price. Beer garden in the sun. Small car park, but lots of parking at the cinema complex over the road. Good location. Will go again.
V. O.
Came to visit on Saturday 19june everyone good lovely from going in to coming out didn't have the ap but all staff helpful keep up good work thanks again Jimmy Vicky Olivia overson sat at back good atmosphererwe were on a family visit 🙂xx
H. B.
Vegetarian breakfast was good (I'm not a real vegetarian, just avoid eating meat), the quorn sausages were just like meat (I half thought they had got my order wrong).
Filter coffee is refillable and the place is spacious with plenty of places to sit. Car park not that big from what I could see though.
a. m.
Great place! No parking?(As it's been converted to a beer garden)and have to cross a busy road with kids.
A. B.
Always good at The Gateway. Very friendly and helpful staff. Last time we were there they set up a different table for us as one of our party has walking difficulties. Mixed grill was very tasty!
S. T.
Nice as far as spoons go. I some times go for the cocktail jugs which are a reasonably cheap drink if you fancy cosy surroundings but if they're out of one of the mixers, some staff are more than happy to accommodate and substitute with something else, others like to flex their position and refuse completely at which point I left. I've no problem spending my time and money somewhere else when the staff don't seem to care about the customer.
J. P.
Great drinks, little seating
J. F.
Good selection of beers chose fish and chips meal fish nice but far too much batter. So much on in one part it had not bern cooked and was just flour. Chips good and cooked well didn't take look to get good even though it was busy (might explain the batter on the fish)
M. L.
Great pub with real ale , including their own gateway blonde. Kev the manager with his team are polite/friendly and helpful. No spoons is perfect but if they get it wrong they will fix it with a smile . Proper friendly place
D. H.
Cheap pub and good location for me to meet with friends. Food is very average.
T. T.
Very fairly priced, good food, good San Miguel. 2 very tasty meals with 2 pints for £13.50! Speedy service by friendly staff, great unpretentious public house. 4 stars
s. p.
Busy Spoons Pub serving excellent real ales. Food a bit dodgy and not always what you want.
M. N.
Ridiculously good range of ales, all at unbeatable prices. Food is not amazing in quality, but hearty, reasonable and well priced. Riff-Raff ratio is low, just a nice place for a quiet drink for semi-alcoholics and middle aged mates wanting a quiet pint.
C. H.
Good place to get a breakfast
S. H.
First time visit where this time we connected to the pubs WiFi and used the app to order for table service for both drinks and food. It is great, the only time you need to move from your seat is to go to the toilet. Staff were very efficient and polite.
S. M.
Wasn't bad, good for what it is 👍🙂
C. O.
The beer is reasonably priced and the service is fine. The food leaves a lot to be desired though; burnt burgers, double cooked chips, soggy salad and microwaved papadams. All borders on acceptable if you've drank lots of the cheap ales.
p. d.
You can't beat any spoons for price and beer choice 👌
C. M.
Only called in for a quick pint while out for a bike ride but very clean and pleasant staff. Of course it's very cheap for a drink too. Lots of people in, which always means it's good to me
M. R.
Doesn't feel like a typical Wetherspoons (having been to around 50 around the Country), feels more up-market, which is obviously a good thing. Really nice looking building on the outside (just a shame the views looking out are of a road and horrible buildings), really nice food, friendly staff. Generous portion of chips with my ham and cheese panini.
B. K.
Fabulous Cask ales always available.
V. M.
Love the app which lets you order drinks and pay at your table! Drink selection is great and prices are brilliant. Food is always tasty and good portions. Can't go wrong.
B. D.
Felt very disappointed at the adequacy of Disabled Parking. One space only, and access to this was blocked by some inconsiderate car user. Markings need to be much clearer. Upon speaking to staff, I was told car had been parked there before 4pm - obviously not be someone using facilitities. Food was fine and staff friendly. Weatherspoons sort this discrimination out please.
J. G.
Great food at a great price!Great service aswell, very friendly.
S. F.
Nice place, normal Wetherspoon quality and prices. Well furnished on the inside. Has outdoor seating but given its busy location it is not somewhere where I would chose to sit outside.
m.
Lovely place, very friendly staff.
Only downside is there's no parking.
P. S.
Good food and drinks, great service and not too busy.
D. A.
This is a fairly typical wetherspoons so expectations were set accordingly. However this was lively in a good way.
The drinks were much cheaper than I was expected for the edges of didsbury. Could get 2 pints for less than £5 and it was decent lager/ale.
There is no direct parking, but lots of space in the car park near by. I didn't eat but the food looked decent. Would go again if in the area.
M.
Service was slightly slow but it was a busy Sunday. Good banter from the waiter.
J. S.
Yes it's cheap and cheerful however they are not joking then on the breakfast menu they stated a mushroom don't ask them to give you more mushrooms as they charge your 90p for each one. Also have my breakfast arrived cold I have complained about this in the past but they don't do anything about it hence more of you
C. P.
Service was top class. Food was good but only issue was the eggs. Think they had been on the side for 30 minutes waiting for a breakfast order
B. H.
Ex ellent beers by titanic brewery when visited
D. B.
Came here for my dad's 60th. Party of 6. Between us We had loaded chips with cheese and bacon, chicken wings and spicy coated king prawns for starters all were very nice. For mains we had steak. Ribs and mixed grill as tuesday is steak night and slightly cheaper than the main menu. And again no complaints, we all enjoyed. Staff were very helpfull. And lots of alcohol to go around. Really can't say how much value for money it is here. We wiol be back thankyou.
C. B.
Excellent customer service, fantastic value food, and a brilliant ambience. The pub manager Kev is a great asset. He can't do enough for us whenever we've been.
J. S.
Great service and good value
Friendly staff
E. D.
Nice atmosphere, staff very helpful... clean and lots of space outside...
L. D.
My 10 year old has just declared his breakfast the best ever and better than macdonalds!!
T. M.
one of the better Wetherspoons, clean tabels, fast service and hot food.
A. F.
Polite and friendly staff. Food is great value and served hot and promptly. This is a great place for a cheap night out or to start the night with a variety of drinks and food on offer.
P. P.
Good choice of ale, excellent pint of guinness. Brilliant new app for ordering from your table. Food ok, I know spoons is a chain but the food has always been good, the steaks are starting to go a bit rushed out and "chainy" though
A. F.
Visited for breakfast. Found the ordering system a bit of pain but the food was decent, and the staff were very helpful..
W. S.
A lovely pub with great food and prices, very cheap and good quality food.. Highly recommended..
G. H.
Nice place, breakfast was good, coffee good quality, staff friendly and service fast.
G. A.
Extremely good value and quick service once the food was ordered. Would definitely go back for a good value steak and a drink. Not haute cuisine but good value. It is what it is - not everyone's cup of tea but good at what it does.
B. C.
Usual good value for food and drinks. Large outside seating area to watch the world go by. Small car park but huge free car park across the road at nearby Parrswood leasure complex. Happy staff who are helpful and friendly.
Z. G.
Food was ready really quick, all the meals warm and brought to the table around the same time. Staff were friendly and the food was really nice. Would recommend
S. B.
Great place to eat in ir out food and service great. Clean and not expensive
L. B.
only complaint would be food being very greasy, but we had english breakfasts&so expect some grease.maybe they could just pat fried food down with paper towel before serving, then it would be great, cos it was cooked well and great price.really lovely staff and all food looked nice&well presented.for the price,i wouldnt complain and would defo order again.staff was lovely and really nice place.good deals on drinks too.i didnt see till afterwards🙄and craft ales too.defo worth a visit.they need more drinks for kids tho, given where they are situated.
D. H.
We'll done Kevin today's meal were exceptional, and the young blond waitress was on the ball and very professional.
A big well done to all staff on duty today.
D. B.
Stopped here for food on the way to Manchester airport and it's what you expect from a Wetherspoons. Clean, good food and good prices. The only thing was parking. The carpark is small and tight can imagine it's hard to get a spot when it's busy times
T. P.
A big spoons with different areas, and a fair amount of outdoor seating for a suburban pub. Normal beer offering for a spoons, with several different real ales, all seem to be well kept.
Limited parking, but it is a pub!
P. D.
Always a favourite when in Manchester, worth the trip out on the train or tram. (East Didsbury). Pub is welcoming with friendly staff, and the food is excellent! Good sized portions perfectly cooked. Great Wetherspoons, clean and tidy too. Well done to the staff!
B. S.
Great prices, the food was excellent the beer kept well, staff very friendly and the locals were brilliant, would recommend this place to anyone, one TV showing the news, very clean including the toilets, one to try if you are ever in the area :-)
G. V.
Helpful staff good menu and drinks prices. Does get busy though. Use the app for fast service. Would recommend.
A. K. a. N. &. N. H. O. M.

Excellent value and room for large groups. One minus point for not having any Sixpoint Bengali IPA in stock.Plenty of parking around and nearby.
N. M.
Regular visits to the gateway, staff are always friendly esp barmaid shannon always a smile on her face, food is value for money & very tasty. Love coming here for family meals
L.
Good location with great Weatherspoons food (although your opinion on that may vary). Plenty of seating and good service. The only downside is the parking next to the building is very small - however, across the road is Parrs Wood, which offers free parking (as well as a cinema, bowling alley, gym and casino).
W. H.
Good food. Nice bar staff. Only problem was lacking in box ciders in the fridge. Shame as it slightly spoilt a really nice visit otherwise
L. A.
Nice, clean and speedy service. Defo recommend
G. B.
Wowsers! What a great pub, with some smashing ales. Loved the manager Adele too, lovely personality if you know what I mean. 10 balls out of 10

A very good experience of photos on the best of had for a long time lovely fish and chips and a wonderful piece of steak and I thank you very much JD Wetherspoon I'm going to try your place in Altrincham renounce us like that by now
E.
Nice food great prices. Staff can't do enough for you..
C. S.
Service was decent with friendly staff. Enjoyed the food. Needs more than a handful of food menus to be available
B. A. T.
Excellent service and well managed Covid guidelines. Good reasonably priced food and drinks. Would eat here again.
R. J.
It was as expected of a Wetherspoon. Cheap and cheerful, everything average from food, staff prices. It is what it is.
N. L.
Always excellent choice of cask beers gateway blonde always being a good choice! Food is normal Wether spoons fare but at least you know how many calories you are consuming! Outside area to two sides including a shaded area.
P. H.
Decent establishment. Typical Wetherspoons, lots of beer choices at great prices. Food was absolutely great. Didn't have to wait long and was of great quality, especially for the price.
M. M.
Nice and cheap pub but as in every wetherspoon not too clean especially on busy weekends and the tables and menus are sticky from spilled drinks
r. b.
Good food, good service, great Beer and very reasonable. They do the simple stuff really well. Nothings too much trouble.
A. T.
Good value, gets bus.
G. H.
Great 'spoons' and an ideal pre airport breakfast....
d. m.
As always very polite professional service and very clean premises and well equipped outdoor area.
M. O.
When asking for a Duvel (bottled beer) the bartender managed to take this out of the fridge so rudely and banged it on the counter so hard the bottle immediately started foaming. Clearly the guy didn't have a clue what he was doing.
OK venue otherwise but not up to the standards I've seen in other wetherspoons I've been to.
A. B.
I enjoy having breakfast here with family, 2 of my grandsons say it's the best breakfast ever (after mine). Both the staff and food are nice.
M. A. B.
Can't get enough of the spare ribs in Jack Daniels sauce
r. b.
Good food, good service, great Beer and very reasonable. They do the simple stuff really well. Nothings too much trouble.
R. H.
Called in with my daughter on Fish Friday. Ordered and paid for meal and a drink at the rable using the app. Large tasty cod in a perfect batter, chips and peas with a pint of Guiness all for £7.75 Very busy of course but we found a table. Very pleasant atmosphere.
J. R.
A large interesting Wetherspoon pub building with a good range of beers. Sandwiched in a major road junction but still nice.
S.
It's Wetherspoons, good prices, nice inside, pity the outdoor seating is on such a busy road otherwise it would be perfect.
D. C.
Best place for chill out no music nice and quiet really good service and decent food also lots different beers
B. E.
A very good experience of photos on the best of had for a long time lovely fish and chips and a wonderful piece of steak and I thank you very much JD Wetherspoon I'm going to try your place in Altrincham renounce us like that by now

Very busy but the service was very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Food very good and served hot.
N. M.
Regular visits to the gateway, staff are always friendly esp barmaid shannon always a smile on her face, food is value for money & very tasty. Love coming here for family meals
D. A.
This is a fairly typical wetherspoons so expectations were set accordingly. However this was lively in a good way. …
H. U.
Downloaded app, ordered food and sat back waiting. Didn't wait long, service was quick and great. Lovely place.
R. P.
Cheap Bev's, good atmosphere
Always rammed though but only spoons in the area so to be expected
C. B.
Good value food (particularly their breakfasts) and real ales. Friendly bar staff. Jam packed early Friday evening.
M. P.
Not to bad for a spoons
M. M.
Sited at the busy junction of Kingsway and Manchester Road, this is a large roadhouse that dates from between the wars. This is a large red stone and white brick pub owned by JD Wetherspoon. Inside a large island bar serves a large lounge with raised seating area, flanked by a comfy lounge, and a more open lounge on the Kingsway side. Behind the bar is a more secluded drinking and dining area. Interesting facts re Daniel Adamson and the Ship Canal Co are displayed about the place. And there is imagery detailing the very high-frequency bus service 42/142 that terminates at Parrswood leisure complex just across the road. Always a great range of cask ales available. Recommended.
C. A.
Staff were really helpful and for the price the food was very good. Thank you for a lovely time.
H. U.
Downloaded app, ordered food and sat back waiting. Didn't wait long, service was quick and great. Lovely place.
N. G.
Busy place, yet friendly quick service. Limited parking 🤔
B. E.
Decent beer, decent price. What's not to like?
B. S.
Food excellent as always
Y. W.
Bit tired looking, called in one lunch time with a friend for a coffee..... Coffee machine needed some attention, repaired then stopped again. Not the most relaxing lunchtime stop.
D. C.
Best place for chill out no music nice and quiet really good service and decent food also lots different beers
E. J.
V average Wetherspoons. Open at 8am for breakfast... Waited for 5 mins. Nobody came out so went onto Wetherspoons in Didsbury village instead. Absolutely no atmosphere ... OK if you want a quick drink or a meal
J. W.
prices quite cheap, food was ok
D. A.
Kevin and his team go the extra mile for you the Gateway has a range of products which young and old can find something to suit. The new menu provides something for everyone especially the vegetarian options
R. W.
Great service great night x
P. A.
Cheap and cheerful. Not the usual Wetherspoon's but close enough. Better than eating at pizza hut frankie and Benny's etc before going to the cinema.
A. S.
Nice pub. Food ok xx
S. C.
2-3 visits per month. Food good value for money. But decor is in need of a facelift/freshen up.
R. P.
Great manager, great staff, great selection of beers but the WiFi is poor. So poor, in fact I waited five minutes for this review page to open.
D. H.
Usual quick device & food good value. Virtually no parking, poor disabled access & a little cramped for sitting.
c. W.
Nice place, menu not as varied as some Wetherspoons, drink prices good n branded spirits
K. L.
Some would give a five, good staff, good choice of beers, busy, inexpensive, but not really my type of pub, but don't be put off,
T. B.
Nice little place, food was ok, cheap and cheerful. Great if you have a tight budget
S. C.
Good beer and drinks at a reasonable cost. Didn't eat tonight but a good evening. Recommended place.
M. T.
Nice food, nice big pub. Only down side really is that it has a small car park. If you are on foot though enjoy.
N. B.
Lovely old hotel, unfortunately I didn't stay long because I hate it when the barman shouted who's next when I was the only other person at the bar.
One of my pet hates, sorry.
J. M.
Obviously it's well priced and has a good range of good beers.
Just a shame that you always feel a bit guilty drinking there as you are funding the isolationist decline of the UK
N. C.
Always a good meal after the film in the cinema next door!
S. J.
I have been here many many times. Always a good night. Great atmosphere And Kevin( the landlord) runs a great establishment. May it go on.
J. M.
Service and staff excellent. .good choice of beer ie cask which given the one I had was nice.

D. L.
Typical, but good "Spoons" . I went late afternoon so it was comparatively quiet. I use the app to order. But the staff were efficdnt and pleasent
S. J.
It was very busy when we came to eat. We weren't made aware of a time delay on our food so that let it down a bit, the food didn't take as long as you'd expect and it was delicious
S.
It's Wetherspoons, good prices, nice inside, pity the outdoor seating is on such a busy road otherwise it would be perfect.
h. b.
Needs freshening up, service was a bit slow but food order came quickly. Can't fault the food for the price.
M. C.
It's a spoons, really varied and extensive beer selection, better than many in Manchester, great staff worth a visit if near East didsbury train station or Parrs wood.
S. M.
Attentive service from bar staff, my burger and chips served in about 10 mins and one of the best burgers I've had in ages, pint kept its head until the last sip

T. C.
Good nice food, lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff
J. R.
A large interesting Wetherspoon pub building with a good range of beers. Sandwiched in a major road junction but still nice.
D. S.
It's Wetherspoons so you know what you're getting there.
The layout of this place is just wrong though, it's a big place but the location of the bar and colour of wood in there just makes this place feel small and cramped, needs a refit.
S. C. (.
Great prices and food is also lovely, very pleasant and friendly atmosphere.
m. l.
