Reviews of The Paramount - JD Wetherspoon
S. S.
Went on a Wednesday night at 8:30, place was surprisingly quiet and tables were free. My steak was medium-rare which I wanted, and my boyfriend said his burger tasted good. Perfect place to go for food and drinks.
J. M. L. F.
My friend and I came to visit Manchester for the weekend on Sat 29th Oct 22 as we came for a show at the Manchester A.O Arena. On Sun 30th Oct 22, we wanted breakfast but missed Mc D's so I suggested a Wetherspoons as I know you can still order an all-day breakfast even if its past Breakfast Menu time.
We were staying nearby so didn't have far to walk to The Paramount. Upon arrival and entering on Sun - 30-10-22, it was extremely busy. It is a very big place but was quite packed which we soon discovered was due to a football match being on and screened. However, it didn't take long to find somewhere to sit, and we found a nice comfortable booth style table to sit at.
Ordering on the app is fast and straight-forward. We ordered the All-day brunch with some orange juice and didn't have to wait long to be served. The food was cooked well and very tasty. The chips were "THE BEST!" - Piping hot and crispy. My friend and I find Wetherspoons chains to be reliable and affordable.
Only gripe was the table felt a bit sticky and glasses were not cleared. We were bothered by a fly too. I understand the premises is very busy, but it would help if tables were cleaned.
Overall good experience. Good food and price. Can't complain!

A short weekend in Manchester...seen my team Argyle beat Bolton and had a good night out last night.....so...ofcourse...before we travel south 320 miles we need to have breakfast in "Spoons"!! Always good value...this place is modern and big and not a particularly archetypal Spoons. Food ok....so many people doing exactly the same on a Sunday morning. Can't ever fault it....
S. R.
It was extremely busy, we managed to get a table and ordered on the app. Easy process and didn't have wait long for our order. I had the Miners Benedict which was lovely.
Y. C.
Great place for a drink, weatherspoons with outside sitting area too. Will always see something interesting characters around definitely recommend it if you are into pubs. A place to casually come and have a drink.
L. A.
Busy Wetherspoon in Manchester. Food was ok, got the mixed grill. Got to say all the meat was very tough and one cut tasted weird. I appreciate it didn't cost much though. I would have given 2 stars for the meal. However, the staff were great though, friendly and very helpful
E. M.
Absolutely love this pub!......... BUT...service is sooooooooo slow!! Having just two bar staff serving on the bar when its absolutely packed inside and out on a sunny Saturday just really isnt great been a few time over past few months and noticed this alot.... waited 40 minutes for a app order which was just a can as i wanted to see how long it took vs us cueing up 😅😅
On another positive the staff you do have, have always been very pleasant, polite and helpful!!
Did i mention the toilets arent miles away for a spoons so extra bonus xx
See you again very soon!!
S. C.
One of the best spoons in town. Further out from the city centre, so it's usually less busy and finding a table isn't impossible. But still close to other pubs and clubs on Oxford road. Pretty chill and a cool and unusual layout. Been loads and never had a bad night here 👍
C. L.
A bustling pub with a good variety of beers in offer.
There's plenty of seating and tables and staff are helpful.
N. E.
Very busy JD Wetherspoons.
Recently visited on a Thursday afternoon & struggled to find an available table.
However, food was nicely cooked & staff interactions were friendly .
Had a pleasant lunch.
L. R.
Very busy late afternoon early eve. Staff friendly and efficient. Typical menu but well cooked food.
F. M. R.
Always great food with exceptional service, if you're into good curries give theirs a try.
S. E.
I would of given 5 stars but I asked for my steak to be done medium to well done. The 1st half of the steak was perfect but then the rest was still mooing. But apart the service was quick
S. B.
Half the tables didn't appear on the app. But of a dodgy atmosphere but it's to be expected from busy spoons.
D. R.
Good atmosphere friendly staff .. did not try any food Good selection of beers
N. “. H.
The Paramount, what can I say that people don't know already, must be a popular place to go as it was packed both inside and outside, even on a school night🤣
Great price for 4 drinks and for safety purposes only plastic glasses given if you go outside, and proper plastic not the soft squishy plastic where you loose half a pint just holding it🍺
S. R.
A bigger than average Wetherspoons but seating will still fill up fast. Great prices and quick table service.
J. S.
Busy restaurant. . Got a chicken burger and chips. Also a white chocolate cheesecake. Quick service.
V. B.
Nice busy pub great location great value for money big menu something for everyone..microwaved food
B. C.
Bog standard wetherspoons , can't go wrong. Cheap and cheerful full English and friendly staff :)
S. E.
I've been here a few times now and each time enjoyed it, nice calm environment for a breakfast and a pre drinks happy atmosphere for evenings. It's a wetherspoons so what's not to like
J. P.
Food and drinks lovely. Not the cleanest of wetherspoons, but cheap and cheerful.
P. W.
Great bar & staff but gets very busy / crowded - a victim of its own success perhaps.
M. B.
Well decorated, great Caribbean atmosphere and the food will have you begging for more!
K. M.
It's fine. Nice atmosphere but kinda hard to have a conversation without yelling
M. P.
Had three nights there on a three night stay in manchester.good atmosphere but some of the female staff on evening shift are in need of a personallity transplant
C. S.
Had a lovely small fish chips and peas and it was very nice couldn't fault the food or service
J. L.
Very reasonably priced food and drink served quickly by pleasant staff
d. b.
I hate the place on some days but good for breakfast I suppose I go there now and again quite drink 🍻 but the staff don't clean tables empty glasses sat on the table not clean and there's no sockets to charge phone in a big place like that but the Irish lad that served me the 2 bottles of corona very pleasant guy.
A. P.
Standard spoons experience close to some of Manchester's best nightlife attractions. Cheap and active
T. H.
The best Wetherspoons pub to visit in central Manchester. Good variety of beers & ales with loads of good deals on drinks & food. Can get very busy at weekends/ but with excellent bar staff it does not take to long to be served considering the amount of customers. Also got to mention if you calling in on a weekend the two door staff are top blokes who have been on the doors for years keeping everyone safe absolute Legends. So definitely worth a visit Great place to meet up to start the night off.
P. o. S.
Friendly staff , huge range of drinks , food ok, but this place does get busy.
C. R.
Went for breakfast twice.. very busy and noisy even then with majority drinking at 10 am...not all menu available. Went once in evening..packed solid
M. R.
Great atmosphere door staff very polite as were the bar staff.nice pint
N. E.
Nice place plenty of room for big groups, only thing iorders take a long time to come.
H. A.
(For reference I was here from around opening time)
The Venue; large open plan, with a small upstairs area and a fair outside dining area. Looked clean at first glance, however tables were sticky and slightly dirty, not too bad.
I ordered the large breakfast w/ halloumi + scrambled eggs. (I'll be rating everything for worst to best on the plate)
1. Halloumi - burnt to a f**King crisp all I could tast was yesterday's fry up. 3/10
2. Egg - tasted like a fake plastic tea set egg, with centre so dry it needed my tears to rehydrate. 4/10
3. Beans - standard can't complain. 6/10
4. Scrambled eggs - nothing to complain about, just need to add salt/pepper to liking and your good 👍 6/10
5. Bacon - slightly burnt and tasted like it had been cooked in the mouldy halloumi pan, but not too bad, smoky and tasty, probably to some ppls liking. Does the job 6/10
6. Sausage - exactly what your expecting, nice decent size, sausage. Slightly looks like a dogs 🐕 wiener but I ain't complaining 7/10
7. Hash brown - its hard to miss the mark here and they don't. Lovely, fluffy potato 🥔 probably asdas own brand, banging 9/10
Overall = 6/10 which is good for a spoons, yes there is better out there, but you don't come for the best, you come for half decent at low price.
And I did finish everything(aside from 1 slab of halloumi) so can't complain. 👍
d. l.
Great talk about the telescope. Very useful information. My husband who's a very keen astronama was really pleased to visit to telescope.
G. N.
A large, but well managed, Wetherspoons. Beers are well kept. Food is standard Wetherspoons. Can get busy with football and theatre crowds.
Went more recently on a Thursday lunchtime. Still as good.
Another visit. Saturday lunchtime
Busy. Good.
T. N.
Decent pub and busy. Nice atmosphere. Nice central place for cheap drinks
T. M.
The paramount is a lovely wetherspoons bar had a beautiful meal in it
A. T.
Really busy pub but no unusual. Quick bar service. Only draw back is any kind of nice outdoor area.
A. M.
Great place to have a few beers before going to the rugby league world cup final
J.
Very busy Wetherspoons, had food which was nice and which came out quickly considering how packed the pub was, will definitely call again
A. N.
Decent food, well priced and central location. Always a good selection of beers available. Can be very popular ,so you may experience a wait for food at peak times (waiting time for food at 11:00 on Friday 25/01 was 30mins)
C. C.
Good meeting place, drinks cold, staff friendly. Amazingly cheap drinks.
G. H.
Great location. Good breakfast. Not sure why you need CCTV above the urinals.
L. W.
Great prices, busy pub food looked nice.
A. s.
Good as a English bar. More of contemporary e flush and with young crowd. Wide range of drinks and good food. It’s a great place for college friends to hang out.
F. M. T.
2 floors, nice place, good food and a great location for meet friends on Manchester.
T. H.
Very popular pub great vibe and choice of beers 🍻
D. S.
Went here for breakfast on a Thursday on the way to airport, plan was to move on but once sat outside in the seated sun trap we diverted our taxi to here and stayed for the full 3 hours drinking and people watching and alcohol was a nice cheap price
P. O.
Cheap beer in the middle of Manchester city centre. It is a Wetherspoons, clubby on the weekends
g. h.
Poor service.
Staff to busy gossiping .
Guinness ok but not the best .
Go to the Mitre for a top pint .
L. M.
Right in the heart of Piccadilly garden , nice place to chill
S. S.
Went in for lunch 13 15 Wednesday very bizzy not many tables tables are still cleaned after use clean, and staff are good,
T. W.
Quite a bar like wetherspoons. Kinda noisy. Kinda full on Sunday evening. One big room
Probably fun if you like bars, I like lifeless wethetspoons.
B.
Very busy but got a table straight away. Table service is fast and efficient by friendly staff. Food was nice and hot and all orders were correct. Great atmosphere. Would visit again.
D. N.
It was ok. The table service was a little slow, but admittedly it was a busy time when I was there. I ordered food and it came quickly but then waited ages for my pint, which I had to ask a staff member to chase up. The staff were polite and helpful and would go back as it's very convenient for oxford road station. 👍
M. W.
Very busy as you would expect from a wethys but good overall service
C. Ó. R.
Good food, good location, always a good atmosphere, good variety of drinks
E. J.
Pre meal and theatre meet up with friends. It is a busy but very friendly place
J. C.
Nice breakfast
S. G.
Very good pub good atmosphere and plenty of seating
M. W.
Typical spoons pub with the exception that the loos are not 1/4 mile away as always needs more staff at busy times to clear tables
H. H.
Not Welcoming to Solo Visitors
I chose a table and ordered food. Got back to the table, which was now occupied, fair enough but when the girl brought the food and I was sat two tables down she looked peeved. When I asked her to get me another coffee because I had an expensive bag and coat with me she said 'no', but she would watch my food as I got the coffee..then she walked off. As I returned with my food she glared at me again as if to say 'how dare you be so cheeky asking favours'. If this was in the USA I'd have got a friendly smile. And while I'm here, for God's sake screw down your toilet seats if you want to be different from all the other Manchester pubs.
T. B.
Good quick service and veggie all day breakfast was banging
P. d. M.
Great food cheap quick table service
N. H.
Had an Empire State Burger and pint of San Miguel
Place was packed
Ordered via app and it was all delivered really speedily to my table despite the place being so busy
e. h.
Not the greatest Wetherspoons in manchester. Good social distancing measures on place. The place feels tired and dirty, food wasn't great either.
B.
Everybody knows you get what you get with weatherspoons. Cheap and cheerful. But the speed of service often gets on your nerves. I understand when it's busy like it was yesterday with a full house of football fans but the service seemed even worse when 80 percent of the customers left for the match. But like arnie said " I'll be back".
c. k.
It a Wetherspoons, cheap beer ,reasonably priced food and as usual great staff.
T. J.
It's a typical Weatherspoons, cheap food and beer, good for the price.
K. F.
Good food and a lovely spot out in the sun, the table service via the app is always a positive although the wait time for some drinks did reach 20 minutes for a round at a time that wasn't overly busy. The staff were really friendly and apologetic for the delays. I would 100% go again for a cheap night and a pleasant experience.
G. D.
Service quick and food prompt, standard Wetherspoons
A.
it's a Wetherspoons, so it is what it is. Nice and spacious, though, and one of the staff gave me a rennies when I needed one so overall a very nice vibe
G. C.
Really lovely place bed's very comfortable breakfast was great
D. B.
The app wouldn't work so I had to queue for 30 minutes to order food.
J. G.
Very busy but managed to find a table upstairs. Typical Wetherspoon. Food and drink good.
S. C.
Excellent customer service stated for lunch all best ste x
L. T.
Food was lovely and didn't take to long on coming.
A. F.
Decent for a Weatherspoons, good atmosphere and good beer selection.
S. D.
First time I had visited. My boyfriend treated me to a day in manchester. Had a mixed grill and some of your ale. Very professional Impressed will visit again xx
J. J.
So so nice but so so busy. You will need to wait a while to get a seat any day of the week. But really good cheap cocktails
M. M.
Very busy but was seved food quite quickly and was piping hot
J. W.
Nice place to visit for a drink or food, when in Manchester on the Oxford Street in the centre of Manchester near the Palace Theatre!!
G. S.
Quick breakfast can't fault food and price
Y. B.
We went in the pub it was very busy.We wanted to have food there were 4 of us,and it was 5pm we were told we would have to wait at least an hour.So we left.
S. K.
The service was very poor, waited 2hrs for our table to be cleaned, Food arrived quickly but never received our drinks that we ordered with the food even after letting staff know for over 2hrs.
K. W.
Very polite staff and spacious..Will cone again
W. N.
Wetherspoons pub so you know what to expect. It was busy when I visited however it was easy to locate a table and food service was quick. The only letdown was the slow service at the bar.
M. P.
A classic weatherspoons pub. The Paramount is quite spacious with a seating area outside and a small seating area upstairs. As it’s located so close to the city centre however, it can get quite busy quickly. Drinks and food are brought out at a steady pace. The last few times I have visited there has been no music. There is a small tv in a section of the pub, but it’s muted with subtitles.
D. L.
Good place for a quick pint good price
B. T.
As most wetherspoons are good selection of beers and good food at a fair price
G. A.
Not a bad Wetherspoons very busy
P. G.
Typical Weatherspoons, but with outdoor seating. Beers a bargain prices, as usual. Decently quick service at the bar, not a big fan of the app. Slight confusion about glassware outside. Asked if we were in or out, said out, but were given glass rather than plastic, which I prefer. However, different staff member queried why we had glass, and wanted to take our glasses in. As we had nearly finished we convinced her otherwise. Mistakes happen. A lot quieter than usual, but it was mid afternoon on a Friday
M. R.
Whenever we are in Manchester we have lunch here it's always good

Sunday 12th Sept 2021.
Sat at the table and ordered two drinks through the app .
Pub wasn't over busy and small queue at bar with customers.5,10 and at 15 minutes no drinks.I told the server at a nearby table that Ive been waiting too long for drinks and his reply was "upto 35 mins " WHAT? I could have gone to the bar twice.10 minutes later I asked to see a manager and a few minutes later a regular server came over.I told her how bad the service was and I wanted my money back and had to leave. She then went to the bar, looked up at the monitor and said something to the servers- walked down to the end of the bar and replaced my two drinks (bottles) into chiller and went to the till.
We sat there another 5 minutes as the manager carried on doing lounge service. In the end and on leaving I asked her had my refund gone back on my card. She replied "yes" to which I replied " couldn't you have come over and told me as you could see me trying to get your attention " she said "sorry' then I was told 24 to 48 hours for refund on card.
I've been coming to The Paramount for years weekly.
I wish the landlords were around to have reported it to them in the first instance .
Place declining .
I will be changing my 5 star review and hope that Wetherspoons management can improve service.
L. B.
Only called in for a drink this time but it's the local when I stay in Manchester so I'll be enjoying breakfasts here for the next few days and probably a few other drinking sessions too. Great place. Clean, great staff, quick service, fantastic atmosphere and popular in the evenings which tells me a lot about the place. It gets packed out.
P. B.
Went to the Paramount as part of a works get together. Typical Witherspoon's pub with all your favourite drinks at the best prices. The place was very busy but they arranged a chair for one of our colleagues awaiting knee surgery. Very friendly and not too loud as I have tinnitus.
D. W.
Great place but no food on Saturday afternoon 😕
s. j. p.
Good place, nice drinks, pleasant staff
j. b.
Food good, staff polite and friendly and excellent prices
C. T.
Very busy in the evening and night. Nice place to hang around with drinks and food. The service was fast.
R. B.
A weatherspoon is the same as every other one.
This one the bar lady was 9retty rude and made our cocktails poorly. My sisters allergic to coconut and she stuck some coconut in a cocktail that had non in the ingredients. She obviously didn't want to be there.
It was a bit chaotic and it wS a nightmare to get into the disabled toilet, as a disabled person.
Wouldn't go back in a hurry.
D. C.
The usual Spoons fare in a great location with lots of outdoor seating
L. P.
Decent prices, lively after work atmosphere.
B. S.
Super deals, super food, super staff, should be called , Super Paramount.
Night time is very busy and very loud, apart that everything is great.
I love the app which you can use to order, very nice ideea.
R. S.
Ok it's a witherspoon so don't expect music. Cheap and affordable. Was busy on a Tuesday night but the staff all braved smiles on their faces. Had a few nice pints.
Centre of Manchester so good to just chill and relax
S. P.
Very busy pub so always a struggle for seats
L. W.
great value 4 money, good atmosphere, staff were lovely and food delivered extremely quick!
N. T.
Cool place with a great atmosphere and the service real fast..
j. y.
Good prices. Lively crowd. Not all menu items always available. Friendly staff.
K.
Only had drinks here on a nice summers day and enjoyed myself. The blue moon Belgian white beer is lovely. Maybe expensive if you are after a cheap pint but they have loads of cheap beers and other drinks on offer. The staff were very nice and all smiling which is great to see. Would definitely recommend if you are passing through.
E. A.
Convenient and cheap. Can get quite busy
i. m.
We visited the property and ate twice, the food and drink was acceptable for the price. You can eat and drink for a reasonable price. We enjoyed pizza and fries on one day, fried chicken and a breakfast on the other, plus drinks as well.
S. B.
Can beat the prices here lively atmosphere plenty of staff behind the bar and you can usually get a table
B. B.
Not a bad place, the tables could do with more cleaning. Other than that food was decent and service good.
T. S. (.
Have drank here much over the years. It's a Weatherspoons so it's exactly what you see is what you get. Cheap drinks and food and a lot of tables, it's popular with students and people on a night out. If you want your basic beers and ciders you'll be satisfied, if you want watery and awful tasting pitchers of 'cocktails' you'll also love it. If you don't want the latter I'd suggest finding a bar that caters specifically more to it.
S. Y.
Busy spoons, service was quick and friendly
S. M.
Good service,even when busy
e. d.
I love weatherspoons but over the years of eating there I have found the change of meals being offered has gone down in my opinion. You can no longer get the half roast chicken, 14oz Aberdeen steak and now they have taken off the 10oz gammon. Might have to start looking else where which will be a shame. My rating is based on what food has been taken off that myself and late brother liked .
U. S.
A Weatherspoons with plenty of space and a not too bad space for a weatherspons
O. 3.
Great place for a tasty cheap pint
S. O.
It's fine serves food at reasonable prices and the prices do reflect what you get which is no frills a meal for two will cost 14 pounds which is fair for the centre / I would say its basic food but prices are basic too
J. J.
Really busy all the time. Cheap beer though
J. R.
Good cheap pub. Sat outside on a lovely day Doorman made sure everyone was drinking from plastic glasses. Also he made sure people was smoking in the area they should be. Glad of this because being a nonsmokers people sat behind us was smoking and they was told by the door staff it was a no smoking area.
M. C.
Could do with a refurb, but cheap as chips and pleasant enough.
d. p.
Great food and very reasonable
T. “. M.
Hellishly busy pub on St Patrick's day, got served pretty quickly considering. Needs a spruce up and the smell of vomit near the doorway needs sorting.
K. F.
It's a Wetherspoons so you know what your going to get before walking in. The Paramount had a good selection of beers on tap and the service was good although some of the staff were obviously new recruits.
B. F.
Great food and drinks. I was with four friends two were standing as there was only two chairs. Matthew saw that two friends were standing. Matthew bought two chairs over and asked them if they would them, above and beyond. Thank you Matthew, we had a great time.
L. B.
Its a wetherspoons so I think we all know what to expect going in there. Cheap beer, good stuff and random nutcases galore. All in though not too bad for a central Manchester spoons.
R. B.
Standard good service from Wetherspoons but this is the 2nd of the chain's Manchester pubs where we've ordered a medium to well done steak and its merely seared!
S. H.
Wasn't the best experience. Busy place but really just 1 member of staff serving at the bar. Was told to use the app as its quicker. However everyone was complaining about a 15 to 20 minute wait for orders to be served.
D. S.
Good pub nice food 👌
V. J.
Lovely food and pleasant staff.
S. L.
OK but not cheap for a Spoons. We headed 100yds down the road to Bundobust and had the best couple of hours for not a great deal more.
m. z.
Had traditional breakfast sausage and hash browns were hot rest were cold. Same as the Waterhouse. Plates were cold so food was cold. Wasn't like that before COVID. One coffee machine only had chocolate and hot milk!
J. S.
Food in here was lovely, steak was perfect. Service was fine. Would of been nice to have been told where to get coffee from when she bought me an empty cup to the table.
Off putting to have to walk through a cloud of smokers in the 'NO SMOKING" area entrance.
A. R.
The food was delicious, coffee perfect... 4 stars because of dirty mugs and dirty cups
A. D.
A large city centre pub in a modern building. Good real ale selection and very popular for mid morning breakfasts with local construction workers, students in the afternoon and everyone in the evening
M. N.
mmmm garlic bread
a. m.
Ok very busy thought staff could have been bit friendlier and all the dishes stacked up should have been moved quicker
A. T.
Classic 'Spoons' pub. Fast, friendly service, good tasting food. The app worked perfectly. We sat on the top floor, up a relatively steep flight of stairs. There was plenty of seating downstairs, as well as the toilets. The toilets themselves were a little small, but very clean.
K. B.
Good old Wetherspoons. Can't beat them.
B. B. b.
Very busy fantastic pub. food excellent. And a good drinks selection of draft and bottles to gins and pitchers for cocktails
G. T.
Quick efficient and tasty at a reasonable price
P. T.
Decent boozer be better if it had Lancashire prices, happy to let a group in at tea time
K. D.
Good vibe n good price but there was a loooong wait on food n what did turn up was cold. Like not lukewarm, fully cold. Got sorted in good time n the hot n fresh variation was a shout so can't really complain. Def doesn't put me off going back for cheap drinks n decent grub.
M. N.
Today was bad news, bar service slow, bar staff grumpy, will someone please teach them to smile...it's not difficult. TV on full blast, loud enough to leave my ears ringing. On the plus side the table staff were excellent, pleasant smiles and a great attitude. Beer was good...cool and we'll kept
r. g.
Your standard whethersoons really but the service was quite poor. The guy who served us, (possibly the supervisor due to his different uniform and comment about long waits) wasn't the most polite. Our cutlery was also filthy wrapped in a clean napkin also ... Being busy is no excuse for being rude!
M. M.
The guy that served me seemed very happy. That's great. I was not happy, his positive attitude helped with that. I went in to work, and I felt like my laptop was safe and the staff were very friendly! Very. Not just the guy behind the bar, all of the staff that I communicated with. They are a credit to the business. The pub itself is pretty good, it's in a nice part of town, fairly nice layout etc. The staff (and the prices) make the place.
A. G.
Nice enough pub, exactly what you'd expect from a Wetherspoons. Location is handy right on the bus route, however as is normal for city centre spoons prices are slightly higher than elsewhere but still cheap. Only downside is no dedicated smoking area I could find, however this is likely due to city centre location.
V. M.
Great cask ales.nice freindly staff
D. W.
Went for breakfast. Could not fault it, delivered to the table within minutes, tasty, and exactly as described. Superb value for money
J. A.
New wetherspoons to us but worth a visit
P. H.
Very nice place to go for a family meal. Good food and very good prices too. Lots of space with an upstairs area too. Service was excellent. Drinks were with us within minutes and our dinners all arrived together in very quick time but it's very relaxed and you don;t feel like you have to rush. Definitely recommended either for a nice place for a bite to eat after work, shopping or just for a generally very nice family meal.
E. W.
Nice food. Clean.
B. C.
Service was polite but the tables were stacked with plates and glasses for a good while after we arrived.
D. G.
Good atmosphere, but can be difficult to get a table.
S. O.
Its fine cheap prices and clean food was cheap but literally dumped on plate .Had the vegan burger which was fine /meal for two was 7 each so not too bad for a quick business lunch /its fine
J.
Always a reliable spoons. Slightly more expensive than other spoons nearby but that's understandable given the central location. Some rowdy punters with brash southern accents slightly spoiled the experience. Triangular carpets are a sight to behold!
W.
Great pub in a good location
p. c.
Nice wetherspoons outside seating area and has toilets on same floor
G. d.
Awesome wetherspoons. Cheap and cheerful. Good location. Fast service. Decent food.
S. W.
Good food and decent selection of Cask.
The staff looked like extras from The Rocky Horror Picture Show or a My Chemical Romance Video; but I mean that in a good way. Very helpful too.
Breakfast was really good and on table extremely quickly.
S. 6. M. G.
Cheap booze and they serve Bud Light
S. P.
Great beer great staff
P. S.
The best breakfast, nice place and kind personnel
M. C.
Great find after many years away from Manchester area. And a wonderful night, round the corner, at Bridgewater Hall and Ms. Beth Hart.
L. G.
I don't mind this place for a Spoons. Nipped in for the beer festival at dinner and it was packed. Service is good and food service was fast and the food was ok. Had one of the special burgers it wasn't amazing but was good quality. Beer quality has really improved over the years and the beer festival are good. Hats off to them.
S. J. N.
Very spacious and friendly place, with lovely attentive staff and the lay out is good. There is a wide selection of food and at a good price , the food was brought over to us along with our 'cocktails' ☺. This place was 'packed out' so so busy yet we found seating and we were were served straight away (it has an upstairs too !)👍
P. C.
I like this pub despite it being a 'Spoons. The staff are good, knowledgeable and friendly. They are well organised to deal with the current social distancing and do this in a nice and unobtrusive manner. The beer is very good quality and well looked after. At the end of the day, this is a 'Spoons so whaddya expect
N. L.
It's a great Wetherspoons pub, it's city centre, it has to manage large numbers of drinkers, different crowds old and young!
It's two storey and an ever changing number of cask beers as well as usual range of bar choices. To be fair not for everyone and can be very busy!
However very reasonable prices for drinks in a city centre and enjoy!
N. S.
Very quick and efficient service. Great beers. Reasonable prices. Nice outside seating. Wheelchair access. Top pub!
R. Q.
Good cheep drinks. You can still order via an app at the table. You get what you pay for here!
S. G.
Good food, and fairly priced. A bit less atmospheric than the other wetherspoons, but a less crammed feel as well.
E. R.
A Great Wetherspoons, it's always busy due to good Beers and Food at great prices! It's a large pub with plenty of seating area! Another good thing is there are always plenty of efficient Bar Staff so you don't have to wait too long to be served! 😋
K. S.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and nice food. Felt very comfortable. Will be going back soon!!
m. W.
A weatherspoons establishment, good affordable meals of quality and many beers and spirits , located in pleasant modern setting close to city centre and hotels . Would recommend totally.
A. S.
Beer great, food not bad for the money. Clientele are the scum of the earth, loud, idiotic, knuckle scrapers.
D. M.
Very reasonable prices and quick service
A. G.
Tables outside ideal for people-watching
A. N.
Very nice burger as a pre match meal. Very busy but still served in a good time. Lively buzz from the moment you enter. Good staff and pleasant surroundings whether you're a party of two or ten.
A. W.
Good food and drink. But the wait is long. What ever you do, don't sit at the back or the pub at table 13. You'll end up feeling like a bloody swing door with the staff having to squeeze past every 2 minutes. At one point a member of staff arrived with a bicycle and we had to move whilst eating our meal to allow him past. If they had any sense here they would remove those tables for the comfort of their customers. If this had not been my experience I'd have given 5 stars.
K. M.
Great service and people of all ages were enjoying their time here! I was happy to see that friendly atmosphere spreading all around the place and I enjoyed my time there!
J. E.
Very good if you're looking for a quick and very affordable breakfast. Love the refillable coffee idea. Staff were lovely.
t. p.
Great atmosphere, loved being out and about food smelt lovely beer excellent price.
E. R.
Very large. Nice outdoor seating area too. Quick service and cheap!
L. R.
First visit here and had a lovely meal XxxX
S. C.
Not your typical spoons environment very clean and the toilets were alot better thsn the usual. The service was good and the drinks nice. Only criticism would be to rethink the table arrangements near the doors as you struggle to get past without bumping into people.
L. '. W.
Nice place for a typical spoons had a bite to eat and a couple of pints before the gig
A. H.
It's a Spoons but it's a good one. Always busy but never have a long wait. Glass clearance only minor blip as can take sometime
L. B.
Great bar, I've been to this one a few times and anyways so friendly for a city pub. The menus was week stocked too
W. H.
Beautiful Old Building
Lovely staff wonderful performance
L. M.
Nice pub, but due to TVs and large projection screen, EXTREMELY busy on match days. If you don’t like it busy then avoid at all costs if there’s a match on. Even so, quick service even when there is a match on, especially if you order on the app, and brilliant at all other times aswell
B. J. L.
Good food friendly staff vibrant atmosphere without being too noisy
L. I.
Fantastic food, very quick from ordering on phone to table even when it was very very busy as it was match day
P. R.
Good food, ordered the cocktail pitchers too, very nice
V. C.
Great pub great prices
D. P.
Not bad. Decent prices, but half my breakfast was lukewarm, the rest was piping hot. Service was pretty quick, civil but not exactly warm and friendly. It's a Wetherspoon's, you get what you pay for.
P. H.
Large pub with plenty of seating good atmosphere, food served is typical weatherspoons menu as in you know what to expect.
Food quality decent and choice of real ales on draft and bottled.
Gets busy on Saturdays with it being in the town centre
S. W.
Busy , very quick service
B. S.
Typical Wetherspoons great beer choice and great prices. Poor choice of wine. Food good and good service
D. M.
Great for watching the world go by in the centre of Manchester!
K. B.
Fantastic atmosphere, stunning décor and not overly priced
D. P.
Steak was cooked perfectly the way I liked it. The meal came with drink, was value for money.
M. P.
Decent bar, drinks reasonably priced but can get crowded at times.
P. D.
Food was excellent and fast.
M. B.
We were there on Friday and it was ok. We sat outside since the sun was shining. The food was good and so were the cocktails although we had to keep asking them to add some fruit. A cocktail needs fruit and not just lemon and lime! They also looked at our Scottish notes as if we were trying to con them!! Our money has the same value as theirs and should be accepted anywhere in England!! Also, we went back on Saturday and the 2 drinks we had on Friday were £6 and on Saturday they were £8.40. That's not fair to paying customers to rip them off because it's the weekend. That's just greed!!
J. C.
Busy but a good vibe. Stopped for a drink which was cheaper than advertised. Excellent guest ale
M. R.
The steak club serves up steaks that are on point, better quality than more expensive rival pub chain restaurants, hands down the best tasting steaks I've eaten (and I've paid over £25 for a steak that wasn't as tasty as this). The burgers are always great and the prices are very good. The Paramount does get busy after the offices spill out at 5pm but normally you can find a seat unless there is a number of events on around Town.
M. M.
Never had a bad food experience here. Drink deals are sliiightly more expensive than other spoons but you're really paying for the quality of the establishment. The place is always clean and well presented. Great atmosphere, great food, great drinks all for a reasonable price.
A. M.
Great place to meet up and start your day or night out in Manchester cheap plenty of room, also food not too bad
M. H.
Typical spoons, cheap and cheerful
J. H.
Great place good food
L. K.
Good value drinks and food in a handy location
a. g.
With friends from work
Quick service at bar b
A. S.
Friendly environment. Good service.
t. d.
Just called in for a quick one before the train station. Staff served me quickly and efficiently.....thank you.
E.
Food was great! A little busy although it was alright considering it was xmas eve. Staff were lovely, resolved a little mishap with our food with no extra cost or hassle and were super apologetic about the mistake. Was clean and staff kept on top of tables.
J. T.
Great service, great prices the table service app is amazing once you have a seat you can keep ordering even if sat outside. Really impressed. The loos are clean for a Wetherspoons as well which is a great bonus :)
R.
It's a standard wetherspoons. Quite a big one though so you're likely to find a seat if you need one. There's also some outside seating which is nice in the summer.
Last time I was in there someone was eating a ham and pineapple pizza and no one said anything to him which shows they accept people from all walks of life in here and you can eat your pineapple pizza and drink your cheap pint in peace.
E. R.
Nice breakfast as always but they always appear to struggle for staff so service can be a little slow. Staff do a good job of managing the situation.
S. P.
Typical wetherspoons, big, cheapish and full
M. B. (. B.
Love this place .... visited whilst waiting to go to the Palace Theatre and as luck would have it, it was Steak Night. Fabulous food, full table service and pleasant surroundings even though it was packed to the gills! Seems to be a popular venue.
m. c.
Typical Wetherspoon's. Pretty tough to find seating at lunch time, which is good for the business, but a bit frustrating as a customer! Get in early. Last time I visited my food never arrived, so I had to watch everyone else eat, but it was easy getting a refund at the bar.
k.
Good breakfast, good price, good drinks selection
B. D.
Great place to watch the football from multiple screens/projections. The university is close by so if you're a student you can walk in with your friends to have a good time away from the books. You can enjoy your drinks either inside or just outside watching the city move along.
C. M.
Good location, great service, outside seating area
N. P.
Very busy, good atmosphere. Brilliant prices.
P. D.
Nice city centre pub, handy for both Oxford road railway station and St Peter's tram stop. It's great for breakfast, and a very good one at that! It's spacious and comfortable. Good value drink and food. Wetherspoons chain pub, but as they go.... Rather a good one. A favourite calling point when in Manchester.
P. M.
Leffe blonde 4,25£
J. B.
Food a bit bland . Dirty tables . Staff really busy so cleanliness not a priority. Cheap drinks though
K. L.
Reasonably priced drinks .
C. D.
Really enjoyed the tequila Rose shots I had with my friends really great 😁
N. M.
Great bar food was good too. Friendly staff. Toilets very clean!
R. B.
Very good food, excellent prices as always at a Wetherspoons. Gets very busy later, and pretty noisy, but that's to be expected of a city center pub. This is a big pub by any standards, so plenty of tables.
M. R.
Not a bad Wetherspoon. The only problem we had when ordering was they weren't exactly sure what table was what. We had a few issues of getting people who had ordered from another table and visa versa. Staff polite thou. Shame some meals were unavailable at the time
J. A.
Great food. The drinks took a little while to come but overall great.
D. J.
Food was normal but wouldn't swap bacon for sausage in breakfast. They were happy to take the bacon off but wanted to charge me extra for more sausage. Never a problem in other wetherspoons. Won't be going again
A. J.
The Paramount is one of my favourite place for lunch. foods are in large quantities at a quite low price. English breakfast is served here until 12; it was delicious, enough to fill my empty stomach and inexpensive. Some of the choices from their steak menu are also very affordable for a lunch to enjoy with; 6oz Sirloin was around £8 with a free drink. A tip: If you like medium to well for steak like I do, you'd better go for medium straight away; med to well done is like well done here.
D. P.
Really cheap wetherspoon next to work. It's amazing cause if your mates are there already you can order a pint to their table with the wetherspoon app and a beer is waiting for you before you arrive. The craft beer selection is 2/5 and the ales are OK but prices are unreal so 4 stars for me.
G. H.
Went in the afternoon for lunch, good pub grub. Went back later in the evening for drinks. Customer service was good.
E. G.
The Paramount is a great Wetherspoons pub! Always busy but fantastic staff ensure you are not waiting long to be served. A brilliant location for restaurants and theatres. Never miss a visit when in Manchester!
J. m. (.
Had a breakfast and few pints was good it
A. B.
Top staff and very patient door staff! Great place for an outside drink if you are lucky enough to find a space 😀😎
M. C.
Staff were all really lovely and helpful, especially on a busy weekend. Drinks were really good.
D. C.
Great food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Order on app and fast service.
E. A.
Great for atmosphere and a good value drink.
E. M.
Brilliant, good coffee
J. S.
Best weatherspoons I've been in for a while
C. G. O.
What can you say, good beer and quick service. I was at a work conference at G-Mex / Manchester Central. We all nipped in Paramount for a quick drink, the most important thing, the staff were very polite and friendly
C. K.
Nice local pub with wide variety of drinks and great bar food on reasonable prices. I was very surprised that there is no music inside and it seems that is a normal thing for this place but actually it was very nice to be able to hear the conversation on the table for once :)
L. S.
OK food for the price would go again cheap and cheerful
G. M.
I have visited this particular spoons a couple of times now and I find the atmosphere quite welcoming compared to others I have frequented as I have been in over 247 together to be exact
M. W.
Not for people who appreciate quiet, the noise of everyone talking excitedly is like a rolling hive of bees. It's usually bustling with people and despite the intimidating din it is warm and welcoming. It is common place for someone you don't know to say 'hello' and show you that Manchester's people are generally a friendly lot.
The food is very reasonable in price and I've never met a member of staff who has been abrupt even when they're rushed off their feet.
They work very hard.
C. F.
It's your typical weatherspoons, you know what you're going to get with the food and they always have a good selection on beers. Worth a look if you're after a quick drink or somewhere very casual.
J. A.
Great as always! Stowford Press is back! Order more so you don't run out!
A. D.
Decent city centre spoons gets busy at weekends but still quick food delivery , good for a few drinks between bars or a bite to eat before a concert etc would highly recommend. With all Spoons you get what you pay for
D. R.
Nice enough. Staff great, just can't help that it's always rammed and always full of idiots.
R. A.
Nice place good atmosphere
A. A.
Took a while to bring the drink but other than that really good. The large windows offer great lighting and the prices are great
l. f.
I love this spoons. Excellent real ale choice, happy friendly staff and clean
D. N.
Staff miserable. Queue time at bar long, best to order on app as it is faster.
L. D.
Central to Manchester I only used this place to find a loo! It is a homely kind of place with the usual types of food one would find in a Wetherspoons type environment. The drinks were cheap and the place was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful to a hapless tourist. There is an open outdoor area on the street for those who wish to smoke and drink at the same time. I didn't [rder any food but did see some meals as they went past that appeared well presented and smelled very nice! No issue finding a seat despite it looking busy for a Tuesday afternoon. All in all for a quick drink and amenity stop off I would recommend!
M. B.
I love it here. loads of space. quick and friendly service. great food and drinks menu. prices very respectable what's not to love here. friendly for singles, couples or families. Keep up the great work.
D. P.
More modern feeling than most Wetherspoons, light and airy. Typical chain menu at good prices. Handy for a quick lunch or pre-theatre cheap meal - close to the Palace Theatre. Can be busy with the post-work drinks crowd on Fridays.
A. S.
Beautiful venue, clean facilities, friendly staff and great atmosphere
B.
Amazing atmosphere great selection of beers and wines and spirits all staff very polite
T. R.
Great place- usually a quiet atmosphere in the morning but gets really busy later on especially if there's a match on. Fast service and good cheap food.
r. h.
Alright on the whole apart form the shift manager who to be honest would be better suited in a funeral parlour the disinterested git
S. S.
Pleasant wetherspoons pub with a large menu and big selection of drinks available. It's usually clean and food is served quickly and politely by hard-working staff.
R. M.
Wandered in on Thursday curry club night. Was presently surprised by the speedy service, piping hot food, large portions and it was very tasty and moreish. Beer was good as well. All for well under £10.
A. B.
Very busy. Football, rugby and boxing to blame I assume. Still value for money though.
L.
Friendly staff, kept very clean, fast service even when busy
N. W.
Not bad for a wetherspoons, but even in quiet times it still takes 20 mins+ for food and drinks to arrive.
S. H.
It's a Spoons so you know what to expect, December in the city so very busy, using the new app is excellent to order the drinks and food to our table which came very quickly and excellent quality. Staff are very friendly.
w. t.
All tables proper decorated with empty glasses. No one is there to clean. Nice service though n usual beers as in every WetherSpoon. What else i can say 😝
h. b.
Covid safe with tables positioned for social distancing. Staff encouraged customers to sit outside when all tables taken inside.
B. A.
Very busy bit found a table - swift service, good value on drinos and food everything youd expext from wetherspoons. 👍
K. B.
Very spacious and, unusually for a Wetherspoons, toilets are on the same floor. Good food and beer though slightly more expensive than more northerly pubs in the chain. Just a few yards away from Premier Inn on Portland Street.
T. H.
So normally this pub has a reasonable range of real ales on tap especially locally brewed from within the North West of England. One point: they could have more lower gravity ales available i.e. lower than 4.4% ABV. Also sold are a variety of craft ales with a broad selection of draught/bottled lagers/ ciders. Hot drinks are dispensed from a Swiss self-service machine and they cost a modest £1.50 then free refills. The coffee (Italian Lavazza) is especially tasty.
I have been coming here since 2004 and the meal prices have risen on an annual basis but the food is still fairly competitively priced. Excellent value for breakfasts till midday. This is a Rugby Union friendly place and they have a large drop-down screen plus multiple TVs to watch e.g. the 6 Nations and any union internationals shown on terrestrial TV. I imagine the 2019 Rugby World Cup will be shown later this year.
Some staff could be more focussed while you are waiting to be served. I inwardly groan when I hear the ubiquitous salutation of "who's next!". Then someone pushes in front of you….
There is free Sky WiFi onsite. Staff are generally friendly plus the management couples have always been very polite, approachable and professional when I have visited. Men's toilets are usually clean, complete with Airforce hand dryers and full soap dispensers. Sadly, a lot of men who use this pub's toilets rarely use the free soap and water after availing themselves of the facilities.
A. B.
Big city centre pub good for drinks after gig at Albert Hall
J. W.
Reasonably priced pub, the food and drink were excellent
P. M.
Great place, but extremely busy that night.
T. H.
Great price, food was good as well
J. M.
Great little spot for enjoying a beer in the sun while I waited for my friend to join me. Always a good selection of beers.
L. P.
As with many Wetherspoons, very good pricing and various degrees of choice for drinks. Venue itself is large and very open. Long bar with lots of staff that do not leave custom waiting too long.
S. W.
Great food, good atmosphere & good value for money 👍
L. B.
Good service. Good food. Busy. Didn't have a lot of the stuff we wanted so had to rethink our order. but didn't have to wait long.
B. M.
Always very busy, lucky to find a table but overall as good as any other spoons, peng pitchers ordered on the app, can't go wrong
c. b.
Top pub
V. J.
Went here for breakfast after a night out, restaurant had not been cleaned very well (if at all) from the night before. Food was OK but looked rushed. Tea/coffee area filthy with rubbish everywhere. Ladies toilets were all out of toilet roll even though staff toilet check list had been signed 🤔
B. B.
Really nice. Shame the outdoor seating isn't bigger.
m. w.
Good place to meet up with friends, food okay staff friendly
J. S.
Very well run busy pud
J. E.
Visited Sunday afternoon. Was not full of customers by any means. Had chicken burger & chips. Chips were on the soggy side & the meal could have been served slightly hotter but I know it's always hit & miss when it comes to Wetherspoons food.
R. G. (.
Nice large pub, very busy when we visited but bar staff were quick and efficient so no queues.
Toilets were a mess but it was late and it had been a very busy night.
L. M.
Good choice of beers, and prices cheap but staff could be friendlier. Carpet could do with a good clean. Cleanliness isn't the best. Food just ok.
A. N.
About as typical a Wetherspoons as any, it's unlikely to wow anyone, but carries the typical Wetherspoons fare of a cheap food menu and far cheaper drinks than the other bars in the immediate area. Too busy and noisy to have a relaxing wind down with your mates during peak times, but a perfectly acceptable place to crash when the more exciting places are too packed or too expensive.
M. K.
Great wetherspoons as every wetherspoons. With quick serving times even during busy days
S. P.
We went on a busy game night. Somehow managed to get a table. We used the app to order and food arrived within 15 minutes, despite it being absolutely rammed! Really impressed with the staff and service.
D. J. G. (.
Your typical weatherspoons pub, awesome big old building turned into a pub. Lots of seating but at the weekends absolutely crazy busy, they had plenty staff to cope though so wasn't too long a wait for drinks and food. Great big bar with a good selection of drinks and as always cheap pricing.
S. H.
called for Breakfast instead of paying the Premier Inn around the corner, had the Traditional Breakfast with the Black pudding option, I cannot believe a pub in Lancashire does not know how to cook it properly, burnt and crispy isn't the correct taste for Black pudding. Tea and coffee free refills are great and the wife had Eggs Royale which was spot on
J. G.
Just what you'd expect from a Wetherspoons located in the heart of the city. Not the prettiest or most unique setting, but the service is quick (especially with the app), the food tasty, and the drinks cheap!
R. W.
Not as rough as some of the other city centre wetherspoons.
Everything you would expect from JDW - good selection of drinks , especially real ales. Large menu at very good prices.
D. S.
Great prices
Very busy. Quite a long wait for table service but bar was quiet if you need to queue
J. L.
Very good place to meet friends. Noisy as busy
L. 8.
It's a spoons.... this one however somehow managed to deliver our food in less than five minutes so they can get full ratings from me.
S. P.
This place used to be so much better. Plates and glasses on tables and it wasn't even busy. Good selection of drinks gives this venue its 3 stars
d. j.
Excellent service at the bar no waiting time whatsoever polite and smiling staff at a busy time of day clean and tidy no dirty glasses anywhere a very positive experience and will certainly recommend
S.
A great spoons with lots of seating and tables. Your typical spoons so cheap prices and decent food and good drinks. Be careful as it gets really busy when football or events are on
K. R.
A lively place. Decent food at attractive prices. The Wetherspoons app is good as you can order and pay with it without leaving your table.
S. W.
One of the best Witherspoon's I've been too. Good quality beers, Draught beers and largers seem better here than other Witherspoon's?
Nice friendly staff.
Definitely return 😊
j. g.
Nice place split over three levels making it awkward for wheelchair users.
There is a small lift down an alley that takes you to the first level.
Otherwise it's a nice historical building.
M. F.
Super
I. B.
Lovely open plan wetherspoon with seating outside to watch the world go by.
Great if the weather is with you
A. S.
Pretty good. Useful app and alright staff. Main issue is how busy it is all the time so hard to find somewhere to sit. Food is good.
T. L.
Not too bad busy most times good place to go if going to the palace theatre cask ales always well kept bit more expensive than some of the other Weatherspoons in Manchester and could do with a bit of redecorating but ok all in all
A. R.
You get what you expect from a Wetherspoons...cheap food & drinks. It's always packed here. Food is hot when it arrives. Service is quick. Staff are friendly.
C. W.
City centre witherspoon, you know the rest.
T. W.
Well appointed establishment what good selection of beer's available all at reasonable prices. Can recommend the breakfast menu.
A. G.
Another great Wetherspoons pub. You know what you're getting and it's good value for money. Very busy when I went for a matinee theatre performance but I expect it's like that most afternoons/nights
A. W.
Typical Wetherspoons but with better than average service.
R. B.
It's a Spoons. Does what it says on the tin but it does it very well. Service is always quick so I always visit when meeting my friend in a lunch hour. Food is always of a decent standard for the price.
A. D.
One of the better Whetherspoons pubs around Manchester, with plenty of space indoors and easy to find on the corner of Portland and Oxford Street. It can get quite busy in the evenings mind. The interior is clean and well kept, staff are friendly and offer a reasonable selection of beers. Food is as to be expected of a Wetherspoons venue, cheep and cheerful.
