Reviews of The Waterhouse - JD Wetherspoon
w. m.
Nice enough smaller sized Wetherspoon bar. Just stopped in for a bite to eat and whilst the plate of sirloin and chips looked a bit underwhelming, I honestly have to say it was one of the best cooked and tastiest steaks I’ve had in a very long time. Was tempted to order another one it was so good!!!
I. K.
I always loved this place, however I wasn't impressed with it today. It was quite busy inside. Our table that we managed to find at the end was dirty. I asked for kids menu but was told at the bar kids meals are in a normal menu. Couldn't find any kids meals in a normal menu. Ordered chicken and bacon cheese panini and chips. Food arrived promptly. I enjoyed chips, panini bread was nice. I ended up eating a few chips, toasted bacon and cheese.
Toilets were some what clean, which always a must.
S. E.
Food was lovely would have given 5 stars but I asked for my steak to be medium to well done but steak was bloody.
But apart from that good service
M. T.
Your usual spoons really. The Alfredo pasta is the yummiest on the menu. Very friendly staff and big, clean toilets. Small outside area but that’s not too bad. The only thing that bothers me is that the tables are often very dirty and I feel like most of the time the staff don’t disinfect the tables after customers have left.
M. P.
This pub seems quite hidden compared to other Wetherspoons in the Centre of Manchester. There’s not a great seating area outside and inside, it’s more like drinking within a tight spaced house rather than a pub. If you like that vibe where you feel more like your having a drink and something to eat in a house rather than a pub, than this might be a good place for you. Or if you need somewhere that can be somewhat quiet/ empty in town, then this pub could work.
G. M.
Very unusual place. Lots of little rooms. Really nice. Lovely staff a good pint and I had latte with free fill ups 😀 only downside was toilets upstairs. But happy with our visit and would go back.
A. S.
Lunch before the theatre for a matinee performance. A glass of wine each and a jacket potato with tuna. Busy with people eating but didn't have to wait long.
Great value for money.
N. W.
Sat in the beer garden and had a lovely steak. The only place in the town that was serving food all day. Lots of seating inside and outside. Great service and yummy food. Excellent for the price.
R. A. K.
Lovely old building, lots of warm space inside, the usually great service from staff and table service (through the app). Great option to have a drink and a hearty meal without breaking the bank, especially with the raging cost of living crisis around us.
G. G.
Very busy, really good atmosphere and very attentive staff. Can't fault curry Thursday, good food, nice drink and exceptionally good price. I really recommend this JD spot.
R. M. C.
Regulations means things are not quite back to normal, but most beers on, although alas not the house "Wobbly Bob". Ale quality excellent. Covid precautions still good. One of the best houses in Manchester still.
Update
Now almost normal, partitions removed. Beer festival currently, so wide selection of diverse real ales. Beer prices steady, but food prices up ENTIRELY due to ending of VAT reductions. Service very good, with seemingly more staff on.
Still probably best pub in Manchester centre.
P. S.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the service was very quick and the food was hot and tasty. The only thing I would say is the outside steps are very steep and awkward as they don't have a rail, but I do suffer from arthritis.
A.
Great Fish n Chips & Good Beer.. what more could u ask for
H. A.
Good place. Good food. Loved it
S. S.
Brilliant place. Nice surroundings. Staff very lovely and very accomodating. Highly recommend a visit. Good food. Great cocktails. Cheap drinks.
A. M.
Great ambience. Good service and obviously in a decent price. Always prefer Wetherspoon for food and alcohol. Must try.
D. T.
It's a busy slightly unloved Witherspoon's but it's cheaper than most surrounding pubs
It's what it is.
There's much better Wetherspoon's but it's a busy location and You know what to expect.
P. E.
A spoons in teh city centre. Very nice breakfast in January, but been here several times over the year. Warm and welcoming always when we go. Bit of a labyrinth, with nooks and crannies.. and in case your wondering... The loos are upstairs
J. S.
Dropped in on our way to MEN arena.
What a fab historic building. Loads of character.
Great prices and atmosphere.
Lovely staff
Would recommend 👌
D. d.
A nice pub in a good location, the usual Wetherspoon's food and ale at a very reasonable price. The food was well presented and hot when it came. Drinks were also good, staff were friendly and polite. I visited late afternoon on a Wednesday and service time was very good, however it was very busy by the time I left at 18.30 so would recommend booking a table in advance.
A. N.
Nice pub just a bit small. Good menu and value for money
j. m.
Can't go wrong with a spoons, tasty hot meals. Excellent range of Gins, I think Spoons is the only place I've managed to get a ginTing..
S. G.
Good city centre Spoons. Lots of small rooms. At 9pm in the evening tables were clean and service via the app was speedy.
K. B.
Just what you expect from weatherspoons. Good safe feeling pub with food ordered at the bar or by app. Could have done with extra glass collectors but fair food and drink at a fair price
A. K.
Good price, good food, could have some brighter lights early in the day
R. R.
Friendly staff. Lots of small rooms make it look like a small pub. Food delivery quick & efficient. Good choice if real ale.
J. C.
Great place to eat, lovely food, at affordable prices. Staff lovely. Would visit again, next time in M/cr
S. C.
I'd say this is a medium sized spoons. Tables etc on the ground floor and loos upstairs. Can get quite busy at peak times, so finding a table might be tricky.
C. G.
Staff underwater house JD weathering spoon always looks after my mother and eyes in making sure that we're ok and what they've done for us over the last few days has been a truly exceptional.
T. D. F.
Good value as always but the pub furniture is very tied and a bit grubby
G. H.
Good value, tasty lunch. Like the many small rooms. A little different to any Spoons I've been in.
L. R.
Quirky wee pub. Converted old house. Multiple wee rooms, bar tucked away in the back, usual service from Wetherspoons, spot on as always, cracking breakfast, the bacon was phenomenal
S. S.
We went in for lunch quiet bizzy, staff manged to clean and tidy up the tables, clean and tidy meal was good staff were good and freindly
J. W.
An unusual pub lots of little rooms it was like being in someone's house. Good service, reasonable prices
S. G.
A part af the pub smelled very bad. Atmosphere is not as good as in others, because of the compartmentalized interior.
R. B.
Lovely cooked full english breakfast would recommend a visit, also afternoon sandwiches freshly made lovely with a few drinks.
G. I.
Extremely low prices for city centre pub, quite a nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
s. d.
'Spoons always like an old building to vamp into a pub and this is one of the more historic looking places. Lovely old brick building with the maze of rooms only slightly opened up to retain the feel of the original house. Staff are above average for 'Spoons staff. No disrespect meant but it's not often a 50 something Genesis fan can have an intelligent conversation about prog rock with the waiter. Would definitely go back.
J. J.
Absolutely amazing cocktails. Does have a LOT of men who will watch young girls though so don't go alone girls
C. C.
Bit scruffy and dirty but the food is good and the staff are nice. I had a delicious buttermilk chicken burger while resting my feet previous diners food, I wanted the toilet and I was about to brave the 756 stairs but I found my elbow was stuck to the table with previous diners drinks. I then turned to look out of the window and saw a man with his willy out. Oh such fun...
W. T.
Good value, good service, food was OK for the price. Good for a quick lunch and a drink.
J. F.
Good central Spoons pub, with generally, a wide selection of real ales at reasonable prices.
R. B.
Quick service and a nice building. Outside area is nice in the sun!
a. m.
First visit to this spoons, had lunch, food good (usual spoons) . Covid screens up, so happy about that. Good selection of beer
A. S.
Had a lovely glass of Effys Blond from here on NYE. The pub Is lovely with small alcoves to hide in. Took me a few seconds to locate the bar (it's towards the back of the pub if you go).
A. S.
No atmosphere decor looking run down needs brightening up good food and prices though
T. P.
It was fine. There was a guy in there that looked like Tom Holland so a bunch of drunk guys just kept shouting spiderman at him...
It was us.
G. H.
Great wee place hidden of the busy streets. Nice little sections of pub to chill have drinks and food and very cheery and friendly staff
P. B.
Loved it, busy, vibrant, reasonable prices for drinks, good atmosphere, great to grab a few pots after the football. Cheers. James.
k. j.
We had a lovely lunch and staff were very friendly, use it on every zmanchester visit
G.
Classic spoons, cheap and good enough for what it is; staff were lovely but even at a time where it wasn't too crowded the people there were pretty rowdy
D. I.
Central location, welcoming staff.
Great food and even better, great prices
M. W.
Love this place, always busy so you do struggle for a seat sometimes. Quick and friendly table service
J. B.
Always know what you're going to get at a Weatherspoons.
Place was full and the only place to sit was by a window.....and I was cold. There didn't appear to be any heating in the room. Need to find a better spot next time.
T. S.
Nice Weatherspoon. Can't fault it, staff are friendly. Just your typical Weatherspoons.
J. A.
So glad Stowford Press is back on. Busy pub but good ambience. Yes, ambience is living in Manc too!
B. W.
Went for breakfast, they always have good choices on menu. Despite being busy service was quite quick. Would come here again.
Y. C.
Great place for a drink!
S. M.
Characterful pub in City centre. Excellent Wetherspoons value. Usually busy
S. D.
Met friends in the Waterhouse at 11am, we all had coffee. There was plenty of room between the tables. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
K. M.
It's a nice place with not expensive food and drinks .
d. c.
Well managed, cosy and comfortable. Good food, great menu, good food. HD Wetherspons is a winner.
D. S.
Always friendly welcome, decent food well priced...Decent feel like a wetherspoons feels more like an independent
c. s.
Not been here before, very efficient service and the food was piping hot, definitely go there again.
d. j.
Really busy but service was excellent and reasonably priced a good weatherspoons
G. L.
Wouldn't recommend food, but a nice pint,
R. H.
I always come in here with friends because the service is so good and the wait times are the shortest in any wetherspoons I've been in. Today was exceptional though. The staff were so friendly and helpful. There was a guy working when I came in this afternoon running drinks and clearing tables who was so lovely, I wish I caught his name, but yeah, love it in here :)
C. C.
Small and expensive compared to other wetherspoons around the country. Service good though and a handy location for shops and more in Manchester. Unsure why there was a pair of underwear on the back of one of the toilet doors though?
C. F.
Toilets need a good clean but other than that just ok
W. P.
Shabby decor, long wait for drinks ordered via app and awful steps to access pub.
C. P.
Pretty typical spoons with reasonable food and drink prices and lovely staff
P. B.
Food and drink great as usual
S. K.
Described it as the primark of pubs but good cost effective food and drink and good service.
G. C.
Less busy and a lot less worn than the Spoons near Picadilly gardens.
D. W.
Pleasant staff reasonably priced for city centre and the food is very good
T. N.
Superb friendly service good atmosphere and best thing ... Prices are good enjoy
D. S.
Typical Wetherspoons pub in central Manchester. Free wifi. A reasonable choice of craft beers. It feels a bit cramped. There were queues at the bar when I was there. Popular place
H. F.
One of the nicer Wetherspoons in town. Had breakfast here and it was a little dry and overdone though.
s. k.
Less packed than the one on densgate on a Saturday night. Still a lovely place for food and drink.
a. c.
Always liked the building and food and drink here.
c. o.
Lovely coffee in very pleasant surroundings for Les than a £1
What's not to like
M. S.
Cheap beers and the food is alright if you are after a quick bite
b. h.
Always go into this one great atmosphere good clean little rooms all over good food and drink very knowledgeable and polite friendly staff 😀
M. L.
The atmosphere at wetherspoons is truly indescribable. I fear that I cannot find the words to express how I feel about this particular wetherspoons. It's a burning, intense passion mixed with a healthy amount of admiration. Never is there a thirsty mouth in the house. I'm so grateful. Thank you.
D. F.
Was busy price for a pink was good. And being the weekend & st George day.
A. W.
Nice ale, nice price, lots of room, lacks atmosphere.
J. W.
Great place for drinks, lots of small rooms with plenty of seating.
G. B.
Aways an interesting place with all the different rooms good choice of Ales on Sunday
N. W.
The smallest JD Wetherspoon I’ve ever seen but a nice little pub. 👍
C. W.
The best way to start the day!!
Food was lush staff were friendly.
C.
Nice venue, with several smaller rooms where drinks/meals can be had in a quieter atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful staff, unfortunately there was a lack of cleaning of the tables on the lunchtime that we visited.
G. H.
Ace pub. The usual beer. Lots of room but so busy still hard to get a seat. Nice friendly service. You can hire out rooms too.
D. L.
Not bad for a spoons pub, nice to get out of the cold and sit in front of the fire and have a couple.
J. C.
Friendly staff, good selection of beers.
C.
Staff are all really lovely and never had a problem here, my only complaint is that wetherspoons pricing varies on location, and this is one of the expensive ones, and given that it's a smaller cosier pub, things can get loud and crowded, so that in combination with the high prices loses a star
R. C.
Very quick service for food & drink and clean
A. W.
Typical wetherspoons, just a shame the food wasn't hotter
A. E.
Tucked into Central Manchester yet isn't as busy as the Picadilly Gardens one..if you have a taste for Wetherspoons Pubs then The Waterhouse is for you.. good food, good service, g good staff good space, near St. Peter's Sq with Wetherspoons Prices, what's not to like! Alfred Waterhouse btw was a fashionable designer for Manchester.
A. G.
Poshest spoons toilets ever lol lovely building
J. W.
Lovely pub and great food. Staff work super hard and very helpful.
J. W.
Very clean and lots of distance between seats. Friendly helpful staff
A. H.
Ran out of Coke on this visit. Some rooms can be a bit cold. Good location
R. H.
One of the best Wetherspoons in Manchester. Bit crowded round the bar area at times. Some outside tables. Spacious toilets - maybe they should put some tables in there as well?
N. M.
Good pub, good beer, good food, always busy and great atmosphere
N. W.
Nice pub, very good beer and food. Great prices considering you're in the middle of Manchester. Very pleasant staff too, always helps.
K. P.
Only had drinks here, but it's a quaint little place with lots of little rooms
D. S.
Easy ordering via app. Fast. Decent food.
A. M.
Went from breakfast this morning...amazing value and quality and all the staff really friendly...got 2 large breakfasts and coffee really nice
J. B.
Excellent beer, beware the bar hoggers!
J. O.
Great beer great prices and great service, sorted
D. M.
Good little pub if you can get a seat 💺
S. E.
Can get served easier than the other wetherspoon pubs in Manchester and just look at the beer that's on! Any real ale fan would go far for a pint of this
S. T.
LOVE
P. M.
The best Wetherspoons in town by far. Clean and friendly service
J. H.
Really nice atmosphere and close to the tram stops .
G. S.
Great beer at decent prices in a large sprawling venue with lots of rooms. Easy to find a table in a room quiet enough to chat comfortably. What's not to like? The fried chicken is good too and for a measly sum!
D. R.
One of the best Wetherspoons in the city. Lots of room. Service can be slow due to size of the bar. Not great kids as too busy. But good beer, good atmosphere, food is what you expect in that it does a job. It’s an alright place that might be too busy for some.
M. S.
Food was OK, steak was ok. Toilets were not well stocked or checked on recently. 1 toilet roll between 8 toilets is ridiculous. Staff were friendly and polite.
L. R.
Popular place to go for something to eat and a pint
R. C. (. W. W.
A decent but strange Wetherspoons, loads of little cubby holes rather than one big space. Good drinks and staff though
K. L.
Love this place as a converted office it has lots of 'rooms' to explore and insted of open plan it makes a change
p. y.
Good food and unlimited coffee and tea refills perfect.. just wish it had more comfy chairs
H. J.
Very busy, but served quickly. Had issues with app not working - lack of signal but all got sorted.
A. Q.
Good spot, and unusually for most spoons pubs, the Guinness was very good 👍
N. L.
A Manchester classic Wetherspoons pub!
Multi-roomed with a very small outside area of about four tables.
Pre covid was always very busy, amazing selection of cask beers, plenty of staff & a full Wetherspoons menu.
Considerably quieter on recent afternoon visit, app used, quick friendly service but very limited beer choice. Using a one way system to try & stay as covid safe as possible. It's an unusual pub facing the side of Manchester Town Hall & well worth a visit.
J. S.
Weatherspoons is always a good place to go at the start of a night. This one is close to a few other key destinations. I'd generally head here on my way to revs de Cuba
O.
as wetherspoons goes, and it tends not to go well, this is a really good one. for one it doesnt feel the same as all the others, due to it being in a pretty weird building, it kind of feels like someones house. the location of the bar is hilariously difficult to find.
K. M.
Only attended with a quick visit, bar was packed very hard to get to in a small area so if you don't like crowds I wouldn't go on a weekend! It is very nice inside with a few decorations which really make you feel more relaxed to enjoy a beverage.
L. T. P.
Had a great breakfast well recommended
J. F.
Nice outside space and great value. Very busy at times though but worth the wait
S. G. E. C.
Great bar, little chilly in the winter if you sit up nearer the door. Friendly staff and excellent choice of beer. Little pricey for this end of town (hence 4 not 5 star) but hipster with pretty young crowd so charging full market prices
K. S.
A good breakfast. Stayed at a local hotel and didn't fancy the extortionate cost to upgrade to breakfast included as we knew there were numerous eateries locally. We left our hotel up the road and happened upon this place. It is what it is, a pub with decent grub. We couldn't use the app to order and had been informed when ordering at the bar there's a 30 minute wait for food which we understood as the place was packed even at 11am. When the food arrived it tasted great and was very good value. A perfect place to start our day visiting the markets. The customers were in good spirits and the place was very nice, the layout is a little splintered with rooms here there and everywhere.
E. Ö. Y.
It's nice and has good value for money.
V. D.
Went early in the morning and it was quiet, had a breakfast, which was lovely but the eggs and beans were Luke warm but overall a brill brekkie. The staff were lovely too
P. S.
Typical Wetherspoons food menu. The building itself feels crowded and uncomfortable. There are lots of tables crammed in to a few small rooms. I didn't feel like this was a suitable venue for a popular pub chain. The coffee is selx service and the toilets are upstairs. The staff were friendly and polite. The room we sat in felt cold as the air con was on full. I wouldn't recommend or eat here again.
R. S.
Was OK a disjointed layout the steak was very gristly. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
S. L.
Nice pint but very busy
D. M.
Great Pub like all Wetherspoons are and it's right opposite St Peters Square Metrolink tram stop in Manchester City Centre.Great Staff.
M. H.
Went in here on Tuesday, primarily to escape the torrential rain, but what a pleasant place to socialise. We had a couple of hours and sampled the excellent cask ales at excellent prices. Lots of little rooms to choose from and free coffee top ups if required.
J. V.
Nice cosy restaurant, well organised to cope with Covid rules. We had breakfast and all of us enjoyed our food. Staff pleasant, polite and friendly. Food was served quickly after our order was taken. Excellent value. Will definitely visit again when next in Manchester.
C. C.
Its a good pub to go to, we normally come in here for a quick bite. I always find their burgers underwhelming, served too quickly and lukewarm. But they do curry specials on Thursday and those are always very yummy.
N. W.
The drinks are cheap and the staff are friendly. The food can be nice as well sometimes. With any pud you can have some good meals and some that taste like they have been microwaved. Most of the time you will get hot, good tasting food.
R. W.
Good food, lovely chilled pint and good service. Handy being next to the tram stop I get to go home to.
A. T.
No Ruddles bjt good value.
R. K.
Very busy, but quick service and cheap drinks.
m. e.
A decent bar with tables to sit outside in the nice weather, service was good and the staff were friendly and helpful, had a meal to a decent standard and price with free top ups of coffee
T. E.
Lovely gin and lasagne for only £8 quick service, but very busy struggled to get a seat
D.
My favourite pub in Manchester. A Georgian terraced property close to the side of Manchester Town Hall. In a previous life I believe it was used as offices for Solicitors. Has multiple rooms of various sizes, so needs a walk around to locate the perfect sized table for your party! Been there dozens of times. Great beer & food. The place is desperate for a makeover. Really beginning to look tatty lately. Needs a bit of investment. Needs a makeover and some fresh menus which are not grubby and food stained. Aside from that its a civilised venue with good prices. I love the fact there is no background music so you can talk to people!
C. D.
Love the look and layout of this place. Its decor and many rooms give it an overall feel that's more like a house than a pub. Smart, but cosy at the same time, and it has HUGE very posh loos. :) Service is fast and friendly even at busy times (which appear to be all the time). Great value for food and drink and good selection of beers and wines. Clientele a very broad mix, with plenty of professionals popping in at lunch time and after work, mixed in with shoppers and regulars. Very good location for everything, being close to most city centre landmarks, attractions and public transport (the St. Peter's Square Metrolink stop is right outside).
A. C.
Not bad at all. Friendly staff and food was very quick. All with weatherspoon prices
J. B.
Very busy the two visits we made, both in the early evening, Sunday and Monday. The food was well cooked on both occasions, there was a good selection of beers and the staff were pleasant. The only fault was that they didn't keep up to the clearing and that place was littered with glasses and crockery. Not enough staff most likely as they seemed to work hard.
J. B. C.
It's an interesting venue. Big beer selection, prices are affordable. When you walk inside it looks like an old hotel, expect many different rooms to choose from, whether it's just you and a buddy or a big group. Tvs on. Here you are able to carry out a conversation with your group and hear each other. so it's meant for a calm night out even tho you get the occasional knob heads that throw mayo bottles across the room like we experienced last night. Other than that... my group enjoyed ourselves😊
Z. t. a. n.
Oh my... for this breakfast I wanna move to England! ❤
m. R.
Weird set out to be truthful but loved it.good breakfast
M. J.
The food was acceptable. Nothing special. The corridor was a bit tightly packed and I had to squeeze past some very loud drunkards though I'm not sure how much I can blame the venue for that. The food and drink arrived a timely manner. I would have liked a mains power socket near my table but there wasn't one (which is understandable). Nice enough decor, more modern looking than the average Wetherspoons.
A. A.
Great place (just near the) central library and the city centre in Manchester UK, but same price as the paramount just 100 yards down the road on Portland Street, Manchester city centre. I'm really really miss the vegetarian breakfast [good food], but I do missed the guys working in The Waterhouse.
g. “. M. M.
Ok and that's it. Large scale steps to get in a foot high at least and narrow, mishmash of room's, had to ask where the bar was. Good service at bar wanted to drink outside plastic glasses only, glass was sturdy, not like the flobalob ones were you pick it up and it's all over the place, had to jump the doorsteps on the way out to narrow for me size seven feet, busy outside buses, taxis and a bit of a pen and ink from the Greek cafe next door ok if you want to smell like a kebab. Won't be going back
Be lucky
p. J.
Excellent food good value for money
C. C.
This is a bit of a different type of Wetherspoon pub, as it appears to be a converted townhouse or similar, which means the bar/restaurant areas are split into separate small rooms. This may appeal to some, but it results in quiet little areas where no-one is talking.. or when you do it feels like everyone can hear and is listening. However on the flip side, the place is clean, has clean/decent facilities, staff are friendly and helpful, and food is good/cheap... so it's still a great place. But we'll probably stick to the other great Wetherspoons pubs as they have a better atmosphere.
P. W.
Ok,service was good we had breakfast for 4 adults but mine was a little bit on the cold side which is surprising for a Weatherspoons.
K. M.
Nice place for a quick pint after work. Very friendly and competent staff. A bit dirty tables times. Quite good selection of beers and ciders. I'll definitely return here during my next visit to Manchester!
K. G. (.
If you want a quick cheap pint in town when you're maybe waiting to meet a friend or waiting for your tram then pop in here. The decor could do with an update but for a cheap ale I found it was just what I needed. Good selection of ales and as if it wasn't cheap enough low and behold it's even cheaper on a Monday. Can't go wrong.
C. H.
Multi roomed pub adjacent to St Peters Square in Manchester.
R. J.
The only problem we had with Waterhouse is . The App to order drinks and food does need sorting out . But apart from that , very good
k. z.
Staff was very helpful, but food was limited as they had run out of many meals on the menu
E. A.
A very chilled and not overly cramped Weatherspoons
P. F.
Nice pub, good prices
J. W.
A very interesting Weatherspoons. Lots of little rooms, you will either love or hate the it, it makes it hard to meet up with someone but it has some character. Usual food and drink, I have always had a good experience with food and service and I have only ever been in on busy Saturdays.
J. G.
Very busy but enjoyed it in here
R. C.
As reliable as wetherspoons ever can be new town new spoons as a safety net
J. C.
It was fine to stop in and have a drink. It's got broken furniture piled up in corners, stains over the walls, it's clearly seen better days. The sort of place you go to for one drink and go, if you're like me, but if you're a bunch of men in groups looking for a cheap place to drink in all day/night then this is probably what you're looking for.
T. H.
Good selection of real ales on sale with the usual draught lagers and ciders as found in the average large pub chain. It was quite busy during my visit but the RAF100 exhibition nearby, was in full swing. My friends and I also had something to eat, though did not have to wait too long for the tasty meal. Families are welcome during the day. Toilets are upstairs and always clean.
D. M.
No atmosphere at all even the lay out of the tables isn't good...but the staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful
S. S.
Nipped in for a beer very busy and staff coping well will call here again
P. F.
Lots of rooms in this spoons on this row of old town houses. Not the most interesting spoons around, but the number of rooms limits noise.
J. S.
Good selection of craft ales and alcohol altogether. And the app works really well that lets you order the beers (and all others things on the menu) to your table. Bigger than it looks when you first walk in as well.
H. B. M.
Lovely location for a pub. Great selection of beverages available and the food is equally impressive. Only downside is there were a lot of dogs in the pub. I love dogs but why people would think a pub is the place of choice for a dog is beyond me and their barking and whining did irk me some, but not as much as their owners' irritation at the dog for embarrassing them with their noisy protest. Can't really expect the pub to take responsibility for that unless they care to enforce an " All Dogs to be well walked or well behaved or you may be asked to leave " policy.
P. J.
Travelled here for a late lunch on the Bank Holiday weekend. Bearing in mind there were two large events in the city, our experience in this city centre pub was excellent. The burgers which we had were great (above par for Wetherspoons), the service was excellent. The Order and Pay app is revolutionary. I love the way that the pub has quiet rooms towards the back of the pub which not many people know about.
R. “. M.
Excellent ales, quick service, food reasly good too🙂
A. H.
Best fish and chips every Friday. People slate Wether spoons and I don't know why, fantastic beer options, food is always quick and good quality, especially Fish Fridays. Staff are friendly and efficient. Always busy but there's secret rooms everywhere! Really nice bathrooms too which makes or breaks a pub for me.
M. S.
Nice wetherspoons but the staff can be slow serving. Prices aren't too bad and there several room with plenty of seating although at busy time you can be hard pressed to find a table. Staff acan be pretty cold, slow robotic and never seem to smile. Atmosphere is usually cheery except for when there's notn many people going out
J. O.
Great pub in an interesting historical building. There are many little rooms tucked away for a more cosy atmosphere. Great choice of beers and an amazing array of Gins! Well worth calling in.
R. H.
It's a Wetherspoons, so expect cheap prices and at least one grumpy member of barstaff. Food was decent with a quick service. Real ale was kept well with a decent choice. Large pub but divided into smaller rooms to make it more cosy.
T. S.
Interior decor almost non existent. Not very pleasant. However staff friendly and service excellent.
A. B.
Guy behind the bar lovely, explained mixers for gin, good knowledge. Tables needed cleaning, remnants of lunch time crowd, however my biggest issue was going to the ladies and watching a member of staff leave the cubicle and walk straight out without washing her hands! I left straight after
M. G.
Amazing Pub for a pub crawl. Quick and cheap prices.
D. W.
Interesting many roomed Spoons with some good ales.
i. d.
They work bloody hard here. It is all fits & spurts.
One minute no-one, next minute 36 walk thru the door, all wanting to know about beersx, some not speaking English.
The staff work hard & look after each customer when requested to.
Not ordered food, but it smells good.
Would order steak & kidney pudding.
a. M.
Ordered 2 breakfasts on the app. We love this app, real easy to use and avoids any queing, fabulous!!! 15 mins later a polite man confirmed id ordered on the app and then brought our breakfasts.
Now, these were ok meals and tasted ok. But the food was just warm. A BIG letdown. if the food came hot, we would give it a 4.
Just a simple step to ensure return custom.
P. V.
Nice pub good atmosphere definitely go again
M. S.
Good position just off St Peter's square.good selection of real ale and cheap food
w. g.
Good service, friendly staff.
M. D.
Good location for 8am beers. Great prices of a Wetherspoons, and actually not bad a place. Several smaller rooms, you can hide out of the way or come with a big group no problem.
T. D.
Food was okay and we were served quickly considering how busy the venue was. I ordered a chicken and bacon panini, and it came with hardly any chicken so we had to send it back. Good place for cheap fast pub food.
A. R.
Best spoons in town centre
G. A.
The Waterhouse is a very popular pub. I went on a Friday evening and I must say it was packed with People. Buying a drink took around 10-15 minutes, simply because of the queue.
M. C.
Had fish and chips and coffee. Well cooked and priced for a city centre. Great value and toilets clean.
S. A.
Very busy & crammed. But managed to find a seat eventually.
Could do with extending the seating area to upstairs rather than having excessively large ladies toilets. No need for 2 sofas & a fireplace in the loo 😂
T. B.
One of the better Wetherspoons in Manchester. Nice meal also, the scampi was very good.
K. L.
Great Spoons.
Bar split in two, ale drinkers always check out the short bar on the left. Frequently has Windemere pale hiding there, so tasty a superb session ale.
C. S.
Classic spoons breakfast. Cannot beat it
D. E.
'Spoons', what do you expect? Same sh!t, different town but they do it consistently! This is a bit of a poky venue and the small bar service area gets extremely packed but the staff are really efficient so you're not there waiting for too long.
p. k.
Excellent nice beer and good food what more can I say
P. L.
Don't let the fact that this is a Wetherspoons put you off! The Waterhouse is a nice old building situated just off St Peters Square, and inside it retains its old charm, so it feels like an old house that is also a pub. The downstairs rooms are full of tables and assorted bits of furniture and it has quite a nice feel to it. There's the usual good choice of drinks and food is available if you're hungry. Not the best pub in the world, but not bad at all, and full of character.
L. H.
The waterhouse is a Wetherspoons so you should know what to expect. The building is lots of small rooms and could be beautiful. It needs refurbishing to bring back all the original features. However, a good selection of beers - although the staff didn't seem very knowledgeable.
N. C.
Best spoons in Manchester for ale.. by a long way!
E. C.
Best. The security lads are absolutely sound! Felt very safe
H. E. K.
It's a cute pub, the food isn't bad - and the atmosphere is nice.
I. T.
Cheap pint & does the job. Nice enough.
D. R.
The usual Witherspoon fare. Reasonably priced food and drink served with a smile. The only reason I didn't score 5* is because the entrance to the bar is 3 very steep steps and there is no obvious disabled entrance.
S. O.
Pretty normal Weatherspoons experience, a few more rooms than usual to sit in (after the stairs going in), easily accommodates 8 on 4 tables pushed together, very nice staff though, shout out to the dude with pink hair
S.
Nice pub. A little bit traditional and prices are good!
I can imagine it getting rammed on the weekend though and its made up of small rooms so you will be sitting on random people. Unless that tickles ya taste buds of course :)
D. R.
Great breakfast and really good value for money as always
K. C.
Nice pub, with lots of little rooms to enjoy. The decor is very lovely too. The menu is a standard Weatherspoons menu, so if it is something you like it's a nice place to enjoy it.
A. B.
Really nice Wetherspoons with an outstanding range of really nice beers and ciders. Recent Cider festival was brilliant.
Just been redecorated and looks good
Occasional meet the brewer events on for beer spotters. Every day choice of nice real ales and excellent ciders and or perries as well as inexpensive wine
J. V.
Nice interior, friendly staff and the drinks are not too expensive. All located in the centre of Manchester, it is a stone's throw from shops and local attractions. Recommended!
A. K.
I ordered a breakfast and took it into the toilets. Very Clean. wrapped bacon around redfearns meat - excellent service! a great watering hole.
Greasy and good. But pain.
Will come again.
S. B.
Cheap & cheerful, you can’t go wrong with a Wetherspoons, the Waterhouse is in a great location and serves a wide range of beers & spirits. It’s a great place to meet up before heading off for a meal or a nights entertainment elsewhere in the city.
D. W.
I always prefer this Wetherspoons to any other within the city of Manchester. I really do like all the many rooms you can choose to sit in & usually at a window! But I would say as I've been going here for years when in Manchester, that I've noticed tables not getting cleared or even cleaned, for a long time after people left the establishment, leaving not only glasses but plates & usually salt or a spilt mess on the tables! The drinks choices are very good! Shame that the Erdinger & Tucher bottled drinks had to stop as they were favourites of ours but we read about why they had to stop & understood. Otherwise no problems with anything else with staff, who are very pleasant & do work extremely hard, maybe having only one person clearing tables & maybe due to cut backs doesn't help the matter?! The atmosphere is very mixed depending on the time of day. Lots of business people, couples, families or people on their own!
e. b.
Dirty tables and menus and they supposedly ran out of bottles of the house red wine and had to pay £15 for the red they offered.they should have offered the same price as the house red wine. Very expensive. I thought the wetherspoons brand is about offering value it's customers
L. S. (.
I just love a good Wetherspoons. The drinks are always the cheapest around and you just know what you are going to get.
The food isn't Gourmet, apart from the burgers. But £6 for a massive burger, chips and a pint is the cheapest reasonably decent food you can get in the center. Not that I limit myself to just Spoons in the center.
It's also a typically nice old Manchester building from the outside, standard spoons inside but with a couple of old 'Waterhouse' features, like the open glass staircase in the right room on the right.
J. W. (.
Nice little pub. Always liked it when ive been in. But they never seem to have punk ipa on tap when i do, it has always 'just ran out' which is annoying as its my go to drink.
G. R.
Spoons. Exactly what you expect, although this one isn't your big, open plan pub. Interesting layout. Good guests on the pumps and the best fish, chips and mushy peas I've had all day!
V. W.
Used to have a really good queuing system at the bar, now it's a free-for-all which is a pain when it's busy. However drinks are very reasonable for Manchester city centre and the unusual layout makes it snug in winter.
G. C.
Been here a few times and I have to say its a great meeting place for the start of the evening. The bar is in a good city centre location, not your usual Wetherspoons experience! Prices are great too.
S. G.
Nice Wine
But colder inside than outside
D. C.
No music but decent
S. B.
Nice Venue. Good food. Had the Pizza. Not bad at all!! The staff was very nice, especially the manager. Very welcoming and polite
D. H.
This is a big place with quite a good atmosphere. We didn't eat there but there seemed to be plenty who were. Decent prices for drinks. Yeah I would recommend it.
R. F.
A very atmospheric Public House, convenient for centre of Manchester. Food is very hot and tasty. I particularly like the fact you can order online at your table, pay online then it is served at your table by pleasant staff. Recommended.
J. C.
Spacious, part of a hotel, friendly though not cozy because of size and temperature, rooms with fireplaces, food inexpensive but good; good beer selection, nice location. City arms pub next door has no food but really nice English pub feel to it. Both worth going to!
B. K.
Definitely better than the average Wetherspoon's pub.
They have a good selection of real ales and staff generally know at least their briefing materials for the beers.
The food is relatively impressive for the money and service is efficient most of the time.
The outside seating area is a little odd at present (2013) because of the building work going on opposite as opposed to what used to be the Peace Gardens.
A. T.
The BEST Weatherspoon's in Manchester! They have a small outside seating area (great for people watching on warm days!). Lots of side rooms, good for finding the right atmosphere whilst meeting friends, colleagues or acquaintances.
Spoons venues have a reputation for being budget pubs, however The Waterhouse can hold its own as a city centre pub.
E. H.
Decent boozer entirely spoiled by an insistence to force political messages down my neck. I'm here to neck pints, not political propaganda. This isn't a comment on Spoons and their idiotic owners stance on brexit - it's a point that I want a pint and a burger, but a bloody lecture. Point knocked off for that.
They got rid of the pub quizzer which is criminal - a point knocked off for that.
Other than that - decent spoons. Staff have always been decent to me. Nice cosy atmosphere for a spoons. Fancy spoons prices, but that's still cheap. Sometimes the bar queue can get daft, but the app solves that doesn't it.
Other than the lack of quizzer and political propaganda being thrusted deep, deep down your gullet - decent little boozer. One of, if not the best spoons in town.
T. S.
Food was good, the cask conditioned beer was excellent. The only complaint was that I tried to order a Kir Royal off the cocktail menu but I was told it was not on the till, so the only way that I could get one was to get them separately which would cost more????
C. R.
Really nice pub located perfectly in the centre of Manchester. I've being here on a few occasions for a pre gig drink. Never dissapointed with the service. Staff are friendly. The venue itself is clean and tidy.
T. F.
A bit more salubrious than other Wetherspoons in Manchester.
C. R.
After a long day sightseeing around Manchester, we were badly in need of some wholesome food. The Waterhouse is comfortable and served up tasty and simple food at a very reasonable price. The gourmet Hog burger with chips was one of the best I have ever eaten. It seems to be a popular place judging from the crowds.
P. H.
Like all Weatherspoons, you kind of know what you're getting. It's not the cleanest, there's no music and it can be quite a squeeze to get to the bar... But, it is cheap, there's quite a good selection of food and it's quite a pleasant place for a drink or two.
M. R.
For a city centre pub this place never ceases to amaze at how efficient and prescient the service is and how lovely the staff always are. The venue is unique in itself and the addition of ordering via app has made it almost decadent while fantastic value for money.
S. B.
Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. It wasn't as hectic as the first time I visited. This time I enjoyed the warm cosy atmosphere of the place. I'll definitely pay it another visit, the next time I'm in Manchester.
Z. R.
Loved it here, the food was really good and I was so Impressed that they had a separate veggie/vegan menu. Cocktails were good too! Good atmosphere and friendly staff
r. c.
Nice pub
W. D.
It's a city centre Wetherspoons, which means it's perpetually busy and not that nice. However, the toilets are spotless and there's a decent selection of drinks. I suspect in the daytime it might be a lot nicer.
B. S.
When it comes to Spoons, who doesn't love them! However, because I've been to so many, this one just hasn't reached the same level as some Spoons in Manchester! Either way, if you are near by and want to grab a drink, I recommend!!
g. c.
Ordered the Tennessee burger and throughly enjoyed it but also ordered the British beef and doom ale pie and it was doomed when it arrived at our table, you need a hammer to break the pastry and I think the beef phoned in sick because there wasn't any in the pie!! Alerted one of the waitresses who kind gave us a refund!!!
M. P.
To be a good bar person you should know who is next to be served and not just turn to anyone.
Very unprofessional as I've been an ex assistant bar manager and my staff and I always know who was next to be served.
Please train your staff better.
S. F.
Lively, busy but no problem with service time and staff were all very pleasant. Fish Friday menu was great value for central city eatery and food was well cooked and presented.
P. S.
Busy on arrival. Ordered food. Didn't have to wait long. Staff attentive and efficient. Pleasant decor. The food was very nice and reasonably priced. Would recommend.
S. W.
Lovely furnished pub for a weatherspoons, great, relaxed atmosphere. Only drawback is it's quite small so finding a table or getting served when it's busy can be a challenge.
j. m.
Great food. Great beer.
D. C.
Not bad at all.. reasonable price for beer good atmosphere ..;)
N. F.
2 hours seemed like a very long time on a Friday night with no music but the building is nice and there's plenty to look at.
Probably a lovely place to be on a Sunday afternoon.
J. S.
Great Wetherspoons pub. Not your usual one giant room but several smaller rooms. One room has a roaring fire and a couple of comfy armchairs. Great selection of real ales and international beers. Great prices too. On 14/11/2017 a pint of real ale was £2.79. You will pay £5 in many bars in Manchester. Usual Wetherspoons food, good choice good prices. The toilets are pristine. Go out the back door and there are two great pubs next door, The City Arms and The Vine. Well worth a visit.
M. B.
We came here for our evening meal during our day out at Manchester City Centre. The pub is in an ideal location, just behind the town hall. The pub is separated into the bar area and then smaller rooms to sit down. As with all Wetherspoon pubs, you know just what you are getting and the menu is so extensive, we often find it hard to choose. However there was one issue was that there was a cold draught as we were sitting next to the window. Overall, the service was fast, staff were friendly and we would recommend others to come too!
A. M.
It was a Saturday afternoon so there wasn't a table available so it was standing room only, just about. I have rated it according to this. Though there was a queue at the bar it didn't take too long to get served.
M. R.
During the last 14 years when i visiting Manchester, i always meet with my Mancunian friends in this pub. This pub was never disappointed me cause they always get nice pint of Stout for the Mad Russian!
A. F.
Beautiful pub lovely staff x
C.
Not really my ideal surroundings. Its like drinking at home. Toilets are a mission away when your drunk. Not open plan bar... A fuew scattered rooms. OK if you like that. From what I remember there's no music
J. M. M.
There are Wetherspoons and there are Wetherspoons. If you want a peaceful drink/ meal its no.1 if you end up next to the fireplace and think wouldn't it be lovely to get a couple of bottles of red wine and let the cracking of the fire take you away youve made a huge mistake. You should just leave now as you're living my fantasy and it is MY fantasy. Go drink in the temperature controlled corners. Fail to do so and expect me to walk in and exclaim loudly that we can't get our seats because some people are HOGGING the seats and the hogs won't move. Following that you will be subject to accurate but loud hog noises till you abandon your seats. To avoid this fate see us off with cheap pizza- you'll have (fickle) friends for life.
S. L.
First time visited & impressed with staff who were polite, friendly & welcoming. It was a really cold day & the seating areas were cosy & warm. We really like Weatherspoon pubs, so no doubt will be paying a repeat visit
I. V.
This is a smaller wetherspoons with small intermat rooms but still the usual food and drinks and a little snug, 🥰
K. D.
Probably the best Wetherspoons we've been in. Slightly different to the norm with several smaller rooms and a cosy bar area rather than a big open space which is usual for Wetherspoons (not a criticism, just an observation). The staff were very pleasant and attentive and the food was excellent. Will visit again when next in Manchester.
J. T.
it's a Wetherspoons you get exactly what you expect, service is acceptable, food is warm and prices are reasonable.
The order app from your table is fantastically convenient and quick especially when there is a large queue so 5 stars
R. S.
A nice looking gaff with lots of separate rooms, but unfortunately the ale quality has deteriorated over the last year or so.
M. H.
Friendly service, good food and drink.
K. B.
A busy Wetherspoons, very popular with locals and tourists in the area, it being very near Manchester’s town hall and a major MetroLink tram hub. It comprises numerous individual rooms with plentiful seating. The staff were really helpful when we were there and had a hiccup with the Wetherspoon app and the service at the bar was exemplary.
P. B.
It's a great Wetherspoon's, just what you would expect from them, good food and drink at cheaper prices. It's good for a chilled meal during the day and a few pints before a gig or a night out!
L. C.
Good beer stop post 10k run. Busy, bar staff kept serving the other end of the bar until i suggested, loudly, the lad waiting next to me was next. I then eventually got served.
I. R.
Once again its hard to run the chain down, mid afternoon break, few drinks and a pizza in between shopping. Cannot find a fault, friendly staff clean and fresh bar with the food very nice and affordable. If ever in the area will visit again 👍👍
B.
The Waterhouse is a typical Wetherspoons. It's always crowded and there is far too much furniture crammed in there. The tables are permanently sticky, like I said it's a typical Wetherspoons The service is good though and no problems with the food.
J. D.
Felt so great to hold a parrot outside the Waterhouse today
M. B.
Typical Wetherspoons pub. Quite a strange layout inside with lots of little side rooms rather than one big space.
G. B.
It's a standard issue Wetherspoons but is probably more dedicated to drinking since it is near to many offices and they all pile in on a Friday evening for the cheap beer, not to mention the City Arms, the Vine and the Cask and Malt at the back. Absolute Warren of a place but maybe a bit more atmosphere than many Wetherspoons.
L. T.
Really nice lunch with my friend who I hadn't seen for a long long, good prices and friendly staff.
L. B.
It's pretty much always crowded but very enjoyable when you can manage to get a seat. Atmosphere, food and drinks are good value for money and comparable to other Wetherspoons pubs.
D. J. M.
Ok wetherspoons however was having some decorating done not exactly suitable in a open pub/ restaurant
A. K.
It is the best beer in London. They have lots of terrific and unusual beers to choose from. Price is a bit pricey, but really worth the money that you paid for every bottle of best and delicious beer.
G. W.
Good beer selection and of course it has Wetherspoons prices so is very affordable. The decor is better than your average Wetherspoons and the location is good, consequently it's often very busy though food comes quickly.
i. i.
We do like Wetherspoons so we tried here for lunch menu was what we expected familiar tasty and good value service was great and prompt perhaps only downside was dining room quite cramped
D. A.
Like the quirky design of the pub being set in a grand house, can bring back childhood memories. Helpful staff who suggested the tram, to get to the train station; I foolishly didn't take it and got lost
H. B.
Typical ‘spoons. Good drinks selection. Microwaved, frozen, deep fried or grilled food. Get what you pay for. Can’t complain about the value.
T. W.
Good selection of beer's available all at very reasonable prices, gets a little busy on the Saturday afternoon's. Recommended as a venue to visit just off St Peter's Sq .
M. M.
A Witherspoon pub with a difference. The food and drinks are the same but the building consists of several separate rooms. We got armchair seats by a fire. Nice!
B. M.
Good service, very quick. Food was good value for money.
E. S.
Much better than the one in Piccadilly.
F. B.
Always fab going to a spoons!😃
T. W.
I used to app to buy breakfast. The place wasn't that busy being it was 10:30. I ordered the said breakfast and it took longer than my mates to arrive. Disappointed it took so long. Nice place though.
M. M.
Well-run, and well-established city centre Wetherspoon's house. Opened in the 1990s in a distinctive Victorian building, of which a good deal of the original architectural features have been retained. Consists of a number of inter-connected rooms, and spaces, this makes it appear larger than it really is. Good selection of cask ales always to be had. Handy location for Albert and St Peters Squares, plus the Central Library, and Manchester Central. Recommended.
D. G.
A nice place to go for a quick and cheap pint. There's lots of separate rooms in the pub, so you can probably find a nice fairly private space to enjoy your pint in.
P. S.
It is a fabulous city centre 'Spoons. Great selection of changing beers. Lots of rooms but...it does get very busy in the evening. Recommend.
G. M.
Had a meal at lunchtime had fish and chips very nice also we had a vegan pie said it was good great price would go again also guest ales were good too
R. M.
A DMDecent Weatherspoons pub. Good selection of well looked after ale and beer with a good selection of bottles as well. Worth a visit for a quick drink if you are on a budget. Not the best pub in Manchester by a long shot. But like most Weatherspoons you know you'll do okay.
T. B.
Weatherspoons standard. Beer is cheap... But I did not think it was very good... And normally weatherspoons are!! Not sure I like this one very much... Normally they are way cleaner n more modern... I think it just needs a good renovation.
M. A.
Nice weathespoons this one. Got plenty of rooms with tables and an outside eating in area. The good is ok and the staff were friendly can't complain
L. G.
Nice old pub with plenty of seating good selection of beer food looked nice but had already eaten toilets upstairs with a disabled toilet downstairs but need to ask for key
J. W.
A bit shabby, the beer choices are a bit limited and several menu items unavailable when we last visited. But the staff are incredibly friendly and the location is superb.
A. “. M.
Had nothing on the menu and was crowded with too many tables. And who decided jacket potato was a good alternative for chips as a side for a burger and everything else on the menu.
K. H.
Cheap and cheerful. Decent inexpensive food and good range of drinks. It's a wetherspoons so not posh but it's nice enough and good mix of people.
M.
Just had a fantastic Aberdeen Angus Steak. Cooked medium. Just how I like it. My son enjoyed his burger and my grandson loved the chips.
D. C.
I used the app to order drinks, brill, no standing at the bar 🙂 Shame about the noisy/rowdy table next to us, shrieking ladies, need to tone it down. My ears were ringing 🙁
J. P.
Good food good service
M. G.
Nice pub. Lots and lots of rooms. Somewhat like a mini maze. Only gripe about this and many Wetherspoons pubs is the pricing. 2 drinks at my local Wetherspoons was £4.70. The same 2 drinks at this one was £7.40.
G. B.
Great pub, was noisy for some time but after they left it became much more enjoyable. Great choice of beers. Will come again.
D. T.
Sent one order back as it was incorrect with salad and dressing..... due to allergy. Food come back and waitress said it's been put on a new plate and walked off. Food not ate and we left. Tables needed cleaning more regularly also.
V. W.
Nice food, but lots of rowdy customers.
I. T.
Great beer and food what else would you want!!
S. S.
Busy friendly pub. Very reasonably priced food
d. w.
I last attended this place about one week ago it as a nice relaxed atmosphere and the food is good although on this occasion I didn't eat.
C.
What can you say, it's a weatherspoons. Not the nicest of pubs, but affordable, clean and one of the nicer weatherspoons in Manchester. Has a gin list to challenge a lot of Northern Quarter bars!
R. B.
Great waitress service & interesting choice of ales/ciders
K. L.
Excellent city centre pub with bustling atmosphere and plenty of people eating as well as drinking. Sometimes it gets a bit hectic at the bar but staff are helpful and pleasant.
A. M.
Ok .. the app where you can order drinks to your table is good, but the staff are not good at clearing tables of old glasses / food from previous occupants
D. (.
Really friendly staff. The food is standard Wetherspoons fare but good enough for a catch up meal. Great selection of drinks.
S. H.
Standard wetherspoon pub with great value beer and food.
D. H.
It's a wetherspoons good selection good price but with very small bar
B. F.
very big lots of rooms
D. M.
Ordered drinks on an app would have been quicker going ourselves but was a great new feature I didn't know about it saves you missing out on the group's conversation 😆😆
B. K.
One of the better Spoon's pubs in town. Always a great range of cask ales. Many small rooms to dine or have a drink.
C. P.
Now, it is true that The Waterhouse is a Wetherspoons, but.... it has a good range of beer and it is sensibly priced for an inner city pub. Despite having the usual Wetherspoon furniture and branding, the actual inside is quite nice and surprisingly big.

Bit hit and miss with Wetherspoons but always had a friendly welcome, great service and superfood from the Waterhouse, even though it's chock-a-block..... plenty of seating area even though you have to look spare table, also staff willing to tidy up for you ...

Great food and drink.

Went to The Waterhouse for a drink. Social distancing, hand sanitizing and track and trace being used. Very reasonably priced drinks.

Like the fact that via the app you can order at the table. Also great that the full range of coffees and tea are refillable at the self-serve machine.

Like all Wetherspoons, you can enjoy a huge menu and an equally vast array of drinks here at very, very reasonable prices. Unlike most Wetherspoons though, The Waterhouse consists of several smallish rooms rather than a cavernous space (it used to be a merchant's townhouse), which makes it difficult to move around at busy times, especially with a pint in each hand. It's also practically impossible to get a table during busy periods, but that's just testament to what excellent value it represents. There are several other Wetherspoons in Manchester city centre if this one is packed, all within walking distance. Google and you'll find them.

Fantastic location. Pretty crowded (especially at weekend!) but it is a lovely building with great character. Perfect for a quick drink and a spot of lunch.

We were searching for a shelter when it was raining, after our shopping and thank God we found that.
I had the best fish & chips in Manchester! Unforgettable...

Can get very busy, depending on when you go. Nice overall with well kept real ales. Food is the usual Wetherspoon's fayre.

Ok really. Just need to be a bit more keen on cleaning down tables

A Spoon's but it doesn't feel like it. Instead of the usual one big room and a bar it has lots of small rooms and nice places to sit. Cheap beers and OK food.

Fantastic selection of drinks, especially the gins! Great food and quick service, love coming here and will keep coming back!

Top end of the Wetherspoons stable. Lots of individual rooms rather than a huge bar area. Good central location, suitable for after work or social. Its a Wetherspoons, what more can I say?

It's a typical wetherspoons but with a wide variety of seating. Good value for money on food and drink, nothing special but always packed on weekends.

It's ok

Not sure what has happened to this great Wetherspoons. There was dried mustard on the wall the table's were not cleaned. Shame as it has always been good when we have been before.

Nice busy pub, split into different rooms with a coice of easy chairs low table, high chairs and ordinary table and chairs. Wheelchair friendly.

Nice place in my opinion best of Weatherspoons in city centre don't be put off by the the steps at front of building wheelchair and buggy access at rear very popular at lunchtime 12 to 1.30 fine selection of cask beers

What's not to like, cheap beers all day long, happy days! 👍

The building in itself is good and somehow cosy. But not the place where you want to stay for longer. Beer are just average

Very inviting and the staff were very helpful 5 *****

Nice big pub to have a drink with friends. It's a Spoons at the end of the day, you know what you are getting - either you like that kind of environment or you don't.
