Reviews of The Three Locks
B. B.
I adore The Three Locks. There's something so tranquil and beautiful about the canals.
My first visit here was in Summer, getting to sit out in the sun watching as canal boats traveled past. I had their Bangers and Mash for lunch and it was so good I recommended it to my partner when we went back in winter. Winter is different in many ways at this delightful pub. The fire is always lit and crackling away as you cosy up for some hearty warm food and a drink. I've never had a bad experience at this pub and it's one I'll always keep coming back to.

Fantastic experience. We had a lovely meal here last night with friends. The young team that served us were full of recommendations and really understood the new menu on offer. We started with the chicken skewers and followed by the fresh lobster, absolutely delicious and attentive service throughout. We will be back very soon!
K. E.
Lovely food, but not very hot considering we were a table away from the serving hatch.
Very nice staff and very attentive. Nothing too much trouble.
t. o.
Brilliant food and friendly staff . Every time I come the fire is on in the winter . A good selection of local and international ales / beers / larger.
Good food at a reasonable price , a walk and view of the mighty grand union canal overlooked by the chilterns .
Pride / side pocket / frontier are good . They have a half decent selection of wines also .
L. L.
Nice atmosphere right on the Locks. Good food. Quite a lot of gluten free options. I had the gluten free bacon and cheese toastie with fries. It was very tasty. Would definitely recommend

Great food, exceptional views and friendly staff.
So good infact we returned two days later to sample more of the menu and will be back for more.
J. M.
The food here is absolutely excellent. They have a really varied menu and while the prices are on the higher side the portions are generous and the meals are delicious.
M. R.
Three best things about this pub... Canal side location, local beers from the Tring Brewery and its gets some lovely evening sun on the tables by the canal. Hence we visit here quite regularly during the summer, can't comment on food as never eaten here!
C. T.
Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating where pets are made very welcome. Staff friendly and helpful and 'beer' managed really well (clean and cool). Great atmosphere and very popular. Had not been before today and u able to book for evening meal due to popularity. Will definitely be visiting again.
R. R.
Been a few times and the service is a bit slow. We sat outside the second time and we were completely forgotten about. The food is delicious though, lots of gluten free options and the menu is not like most others, lots of options and all tastes fresh. Roast dinner is very nice. All at a reasonable price too!
A. T.
Great place to meet and have a meal, along with some fine local guest beers. Add a walk along the wide towpath, without needing to cross a lock gate, and on a nice day and it becomes a morning, afternoon or evening trip out into the countryside. The staff are always friendly and the service good from a quick snack or full meal. The range of items on the menu provide a good choice with produce always of high quality… nice…
W. S.
Good food, great view, polite and very friendly staffs. What’s more can you get?
A. O.
Beautiful location, friendly staff, okay food - would expect slightly better for the price tbh. Music was nice background noise and not over bearing at all. Dog friendly. Will most likely revisit for drinks and chill time within beautiful setting.
J. S.
A lovely pub perched right on the edge of the canal.
The food was delicious and the welcome warm.
They have a varied menu, with veggie, vegan and gluten-free options. Specials also sounded delicious.
C. M.
Really great place to eat and drink. Idyllic setting; plenty of room inside and out; beautiful decor; very clean. The food is very good and the staff are welcoming and very efficient. We've been twice this year and will definitely return.
G. G.
Beautiful countryside location next to the canal. Great food and drinks. With warm friendly service. Inside and outside seating.A lovely summers evening experience.Me and my family loved it and only a 5 minute drive from home.
J. T.
Great food, fantastic service!!
Called in for lunch, we didn’t have a reservation but this wasn’t a problem. We were given a few options of where we could dine & we decided on the restaurant. Kayleigh our waitress was so friendly & helpful with recommendations, the food was absolutely delicious & generous portions too.
F. D. U.
It's such a shame that, in this present climate, this pub is not taking full advantage of its ample beer garden to serve food to outside tables, so unfortunately after a long narrowboat trip up the canal we were unable to enjoy an evening meal. Apart from that, the staff were very friendly and the beer and wine were good.
K. J.
Wow, what am amazing place, we aren't from the area and drove past a few times and decided to pop in and get some lunch, we ordered 2 fillet steaks, the portions sizes are generous and the steak was cooked amazingly. Staff was friendly and helpful, prices are a little expensive but never the less it was definitely worth coming.
Thankyou😄
P. L.
It's a lovely country canal side pub.
Lots of clean safe well lit parking. Plenty of outside seating to sit and watch the sunset and the boats go by. Friendly service what's not to like
A. M.
Lovely food and nice choice of beer on tap.
The experience was dropped from 5 to 3 stars not because certain items on the menu had run out but due to the Blue Light Card.
I asked if they take the NHS Blue Light Card which resulted in an awkward pause.
I was told they do and they would apply it once I had finished the food order.
Unfortunately the chap serving held the card and told me he applied the discount and it was only when I came to order dessert that I noted the card was not applied.
I see the chap who took the order look sheepish like he knew he had not applied the discount, the manager applied the discount after an awkward moment.
5 stars dropped to 3 stars due to being made to feel I was defrauding them, I would prefer they don take the card. I opted to leave and buy dessert elsewhere.
K. O.
Old and worldly and I had a pint of Guinness just like I never left 😆. First place socially I've been since lockdown . Very beautiful place with lots of historic buildings and a very very old lock . Canal walks are the best , because you see so much if your looking for animals and fishes x
P. T.
Great food, super helpful and professional staff. Would highly recommend and will be back for sure!
It makes such a difference when staff make you feel welcome.
K. W.
Our first visit. Lovely location, staff very polite especially Maddie and Henry. Food was really good. A little pricey but I would recommend a visit without a doubt.
F. B.
Lovely place, very nice setting, go on a sunny day and watch the locks being used.
C. D.
Lovely food. We had the specials at lunchtime. Good service, nice location sitting outside as boats navigated the locks. Nice warm fire in the autumn and winter
J. B.
A lovely location beside a canal. We had a great lunch outside on some of the plentiful seating. The inside had a good amount of tables as well. Would very much recommend this spot.
B.
Food was excellent and delicious. Service was very slow 🐌 Lovely setting. Traffic was speeding by .. in a 50 mile zone 😒
E. H.
Such a fabulous pub!!! Now a fish restaurant.. and what a success! Stunning fish dishes. Fresh, tasty, amazing prices 😋 👌 😍 🐟🐙
C. S.
A great pub at the bottom of three locks. Our waitress was extremely friendly. We both had fish and chips with mushy peas. I would have preferred the skin off my fish but my partner said that was the best bit. A piece of lemon on the side would have been good. He also had a side order of cauliflower cheese which was declared delicious. I think the drinks are expensive at £8 for a glass of wine. There are plenty of tables if the weather is good and you can sit outside.
T. D.
My husband and I had a wonderful meal here, different, tasty, cooked beautifully and with a really friendly service - we will definitely be back.
P. F.
Good choice of real Ales, good lunch options nicely decorated. Right next to the the locks on the canal and a nice place to relax on a sunny day. Found lunch a few £ pounds more than other pubs in the area.
B.
I have been to this place many times, I have never had a bad experience. On this occasion we went as a family for my birthday, again the service was excellent. I have a severe food allergy as does my son but this was no problem, we could even hear the kitchen staff mentioning it and we can see the food being prepared, I felt assured everything was fine. On this occasion I got given a complimentary glass of bubbly for my birthday. I will return again soon, lovely setting, lovely staff, lovely food. Fantastic 👍
S. S.
I visited this place with my wife... it was a amazing delicious.... filling.... just want to visit this place again and again....
Good friendly staff...
Nice view if your seated outside of the locks....
Truly nice experience...
B. M.
Had a nice meal here the other night. The pork belly was really nice washed down with a pint at sunset 😉👍🏼
P. S.
Pub is lovely, staff was very nice. We didn't try the food this time but I'll definitely go back again. Wonderful outdoor space with availability to watch boats
S. B.
As always, good service, good beer and good food. Living on a narrow boat I pass by The Three Locks a couple of times a year and would always recommend it. My friend brought his dog along and the staff brought a drinking bowl out for his dog, that's good, caring service 😀
S. M.
Great selection of beers and the food was amazing. (Unfortunately I had an allergic reaction to something I ate, no known allergies though) the staff were great, even rang one of my party to make sure I was OK. Very welcoming and chatty but never intrusive. Will definitely be going back, maybe to eat the same food as well because it was worth the tight chest lol
L. S.
Great food, fillet Steak cooked to perfection, peppercorn sauce a bit salty and not very creamy. Freshly cut chips amazing. Cheese cake base a bit soft , vanilla ice cream was NOT good. But Staff are amazing very friendly.
B. C.
Popped in for a cold coke after walking down the canal on a beautiful hot day.
Nice pub, great location, strange greeting from staff as clearly the supervisor was stood behind the bar and one younger waitress just stood aside from the bar.
They seemed to be giggling at something and I'm not sure if we said something funny or if just being rude. I'm sure others may have found this quite rude and unprofessional but we just put it down to the fact they were young girls.
Would return for a drink again but has put us off booking a table for food as we prefer more professional establishments.
T. M.
Great location on a sunny day by the canal. Varied and tasty menu with some good specials. Decent selection of beer - try the Tring brewery range. Staff very friendly an helpful. All in, a very good experience.
S. W.
Pretty spot and three locks taking Grand Union Canal up the hill are an impressive sight and should excite enthusiasts for historical feats of civil engineering. Bright and clean with attentive staff. Food was pretty decent too . Had the falafel burger as a veggie treat for a change. Burger bun was very light and tasty and an appetising shade of beetroot. Friend had chicken caesar - all polished off! First coffee was too cool for my companion but this was instantly replaced by a bigger hotter cup.
L. T.
First visit for some out of towners.
Signs advise to wait and speak to staff before sitting down in the garden. Ignored by 4 staff so sat down anyway. Signs on tables encourage use of app. Downloaded and ordered drinks. Questioned the food menu as it only had 5 or 6 items on (burgers and a caesar salad). Told it was a reduced menu but she could bring menus for us. Ordered food around 15 minutes after arrival and it arrived promptly. On ordering we asked for a spare plate as sharing food with a child and despite 3 trips to our table with various food and condiment items it still took a significant time for the plate to arrive.
Drinks however did not arrive promptly. We questioned it 5 times and always fobbed off that there was a wait, although one said there wasn't a wait but no one seemed to update us. Drinks eventually arrived 50 minutes after ordering and when we were well through our meal. We did end up with a 20% discount which we did accept (we just wanted to leave) although I did expect them to be refunded completely.
No staff were wearing PPE/face coverings.
We won't be returning.
F. W.
Lovely location and perfect if you want a summers afternoon walk.
Food was ok but they didn’t have what I wanted available. One of our parties meals was left off the order so only arrived after everyone else had ordered and the portion sizes differed greatly.
The soft drinks they have on draft are generic non named brands and just consist of some sort of syrupy water.
R. E.
Popped in for a well deserved drink and relax after completing a long walk locally around the woodland areas. Walked in, served immediately, service was quick, order was perfect, enjoyed the outside hospitality, before heading out. 1st time here, would highly recommend.
N. S.
Good quality food and service. Selection of craft ales on tap as well as selection of wider known beers. Good sized outside dining area with views over one of the locks
R. B.
Nice pub sited in a pleasant location by the canal among some lovely countryside. Has a good range of drinks, great food and friendly, helpful staff
G. W.
It's an Oakman group pub, like the Grand Junction Arms at Bulborne.
That means the food is good, but expensive for what you get.
There's a decent choice of beers though, and the lockside location can't be beaten.
D. M.
Lovely pub by a canal as the name suggests... Nice way to while away a couple of hours watching the traffic (boats that is) Mango Cider was a winner on a hot Sunday afternoon
C. W.
Nice cider, took ages to be served although quiet. Witnessed staff standing and chatting and discussions about absent staff. Not very professional.
K. M.
Been coming back here some 50 years !! Good food 😋 and good drinks used to be a boat mans pub in days of barges on grand Union canal
M. S.
Good service. Staff are friendly & welcoming. Nice pint of Landlord
And it's a lovely setting with the canal and locks
T. B.
Nice place . Just out side of Milton Keynes. A great spot for stopping in the summer. Good selection at the bar and on the menu. This place is popular so I would suggest booking ahead, especially on the weekends
S. K.
Fabulous staff, great atmosphere, lovely location, dog friendly, and the best cappuccino this side of Seattle. I'd give six stars if I could.
A. B.
Excellent service, very pleasant meal ( the beetroot burgers and chicken supreme were very good) and the Tring ale, though a little cloudy, tasted good enough to have a second pint.
Good C19 Management.
Outside tables need to be cleaned more regularly.
t. b.
Nice place to visit. Sit by the water and eat. Watch the boats go by.
Another lock would have been nice, but 3s ok.
Elly liked her food a lot.
c. w.
What an absolute stunning meal me and my family had after mooring up our barge and so glad we stopped here , if your ever passing make sure you try the food , not 1 single complaint and the place is rammed with happy customers , will definitely come.back here again and wonderful staff .
A. S.
Have not been here for very long time so back then it was great, now we feel it is good. Having only been here just on the off chance, I didn't expect anything less from what we got. Good service, pleasant staff clean n tidy, very busy so advised to book b4 you go. Bit pricey but not bad on presentation and taste so you pay bit more. I love my vegetables cooked, I mean properly cooked not en'croute but, I failed to specify that I needed the veg cooked so didn't complain as was my fault. ( I will next time) but overall a very pleasant couple of hours in good company in a very pleasant restaurant. Keep up the good work but I couldn't make Having a meal there often because of the price but for special occasions. We'll done we loved it
E. V.
Good quality and generous portions left nothing wanting.
C.
Visited for food.
On arrival staff were friendly and welcoming. Drinks order was promptly taken with a good recommendation of wines. Food order was taken shortly after. Our food order consisted of 4 roasts. I had the pork belly. There wasn't a good crisp on the pork but it was cooked adequately. The veg was not overcooked but the Yorkshire puds were dire. The other people I was dining with had beef and chicken. Reports were that the beef was nice but the chicken not so much. Took a while for the plates to be cleared but again the staff were helpful when we asked for more veg or gravy.
I had choc brownie for desert and it was OK, others I was dining with reported their desert as very nice.
Coffee was luke warm.
Would visit again but I think it was still a little pricey for what we got. Others in my party thought it was reasonably priced.
C. R.
Lovely Birthday meal ... great for family's we had our little one with us... food was delicious and staff very helpful and with fast service. Looking forward to coming again
O. B.
Beautiful little canalside pub with a sizable outside area. Helpful staff who were knowledgeable about the recent new menu that has a big seafood focus. High quality seafood dishes, lovley wine selection and a great back bar full of top gins! All round great visit, with a dog friendly bar area and outside benches, the busy canal locks make for a lovley relaxing beer watching the barges go past!
S. O.
Very impressed. Polite friendly efficient staff..clean tables. Fresh white cloth napkins. Will definitely return.
A. B.
Good food, friendly and helpful staff, nice family atmosphere.
L. O.
We ordered calamari, chips and onion rings. The chips came in a small cup, but there was no option to buy a larger size. The calamari was thin and crispy, which was confusing. The service was less than enthusiastic. I think the pub is trying to be fancy and forgot that patrons might want the option of things like a bowl of chips with their beer.
M. R.
Excellent food and good service. The location is very unique as The Three Locks PUB name comes from it being located just nxt to the 3 canal locks. It is a dog very friendly place and I recommend it to anyone who loves a canal vibe
S. M.
A nice canal side pub. Never eaten there though since it’s quite pricey.
P. L.
My partner and I popped into the Three Locks for lunch, I had the Pork loin and crackling with apple sauce and seasonal veg. The meal was very good and worth the money. Only criticism was the mustard had no taste at all and more apple sauce would have been nice.
My partner had the salmon, it was slightly over cooked with little flavour and taste. It came with roast potatoes instead of boiled and a lack of veg, just a few bits of salad, the odd green leave. Not worth the money we paid.
K. C.
Great experience. Venue, staff and food were excellent. Can't wait to come again.
M. U.
Lovely location and a great looking pub. A fairly good selection of ale, but strangely not many options if you don't want alcohol (and it is a little way from anywhere, so quite a few will be driving). Car parking is good with a fairly large overspill car park.
C. E.
Customer service needs work
The food was excellent my main complaint was the fish pie 2 prawns and all mash but no veg all you get is fish pie
b. b.
Excellent Fillet Steak...recommend, but needs a bigger range of Ale's less citra....Iron Madien Trooper Ale would Rock the Boat...Hail🤘🤘🤘
R. T.
Excellent position by the canal and good food and choice of microbrewery ales. Would be 5 stars but poor value for money
p. c.
Landlord most welcoming, food exalant, dog friendly, would highly recommend this lovely pub
j. v.
I emailed a query one evening, the very next morning l had a phone call that answered all my queries. Looking online, their menus are fabulous with very clear information pertaining to dietry needs. Being that impressed we booked a table for Sunday. We were not disappointed. The booking was made online Thursday and again Friday l took a call from manager Kat. She had noted that a party member in our booking had dietry needs, l was reassured they could be met and was offered choices. We arrived at the 3 locks Sunday and greeted with a warm welcome and taken to our table and left to settle in. Our orders were taken by Kat after l checked my dietry requirements, this meant a couple of chats between her and Chef. Food 10 out of 10 for freshness, taste and presentation you can see the kitchen staff take pride and enjoy their role. Drinks menu fantastic choice. Venue, atmosphere calm and relaxing with justvthe right spacing between tables meaning you do not feel crowded. Nothing was too much trouble. And were not felt rushed to finish at all. The timing for each between courses couldn't be better timed. We were so impressed that we are returning for lunch on Tuesday.
C. B.
A lovely relaxing drink by the canal. Although we didn't eat this time the menu and food looked mouth watering and we will be back to enjoy a meal. The staff were friendly and welcoming, definitely a great place to go. This brought back lovely memories of visits as a child.
V. D.
My parents loved this pub when we used to live here 20 years ago and we've just moved back to the area and already been twice. This time for Sunday lunch with the in-laws and I'm thrilled to say nothing has changed, we were not disappointed! Excellent service, tasty food in huge portions and wonderfully welcoming and dog friendly. Highly recommend!
J. C.
Had a fabulous meal here last night. My husband likes a steak meal and said this was cooked to perfection. I had grilled Salmon and this too was wonderful. The staff were so friendly and attentive and service was always with a smile. Cant thank them all enough. Well done to the chefs.
A. K.
THE VENUE: The ambience was very good and the interior is old English mixed with a few modern touches. There is a welcoming log burner as you walk in.
We did not sit in the bar area but I did notice on my way to the bathroom a dog was present. So a dog friendly environment in the bar area.
There is free parking available.
THE STAFF: Very keen, polite and professional. Just the correct amount of attention so you can enjoy your food in relative peace.
The Chef was engaging and very keen to discuss how we felt and if we had any productive criticism. We had no criticism of the food.
THE FOOD.
OK, I had the Fillet beef and my partner had the Salmon. Portion was adequate. The taste of my stake was really AMAZING. I could taste the beef and it was cooked medium rare. Not as pink as I like it but I finished it because it tasted really great! It practically melted in my mouth. Had crushed baby potatoes which was an interesting twist of the boring spud. It was full of herbs that made the spud come to life. Now the peppercorn sauce was my favourite because it had real peppercorns in it which I absolutely insist on everywhere I go. So good job guys.
The vegetables was well cooked. Aldenté as it should be.
We also had pumpkin soup which was served hot and tasted very good. Just spicy enough for you to still taste the flavour of the pumpkin. It came 2 slices of sourdough bread which was good enough.
My partner had salmon. As you can see from the pictures the portion was generous and he reports it tasted moist and tasty!
We didn't need any condiments to whence the meal so that was a good thing.
I would recommend coming to eat at this restaurant for as long as it maintains this standard of dining.
We left full and content.
Book a table as soon as you can!
R. B.
Food was ok but not amazing. Service at the bar was fairly slow to be honest!
Nice setting next to the canal.
L. F.
Lovely pub in lovely location on the canal. Only thing I would say is it is a bit over priced.
K. S.
Lovely pub in a nice location and the food was amazing! I visited during the week so it was quite quiet. All staff were really friendly and welcoming, food came out really quickly and well presented. There are lots of nice hikes in the area so this is a lovely starting/stopping point for this too, with a large car park and plenty of indoor and outdoor sitting.
G. M.
A very good example of an oakman group restaurant. Fish orientated menu with varied specials. Well managed with friendly staff. Recommended.
S. K.
Comfy canal-side pub. Food not especially exciting and maybe a little expensive for what it is, but compensated for in nice weather by the pleasure of sitting outside enjoying watching boats traversing the locks while you eat lunch.
J. M.
Food not so good value for money. Brill environment. Friendly
C. G.
Great meal out, good service and lovely food.
S. J.
Pub on the canal locks - perfect on a sunny day for a glass of wine. Decent menu and good craft beers too.
K. W.
Stunning food, great location plus good service.
K. D.
Really lovely setting, food was amazing, quite pricy.disapointed rubbish alcohol free choice though, nice staff 😀
C. W.
Fabulous staff amazing food and a wonderful setting 5 stars from me.
D. R.
Lovely staff, beautiful canal side setting. Very high covid/ cleaning/ safety measures. Food was delicious but on this visit no specials and problems with fryer so small menu choice made even smaller. Feel food is a little overpriced too....but beautiful place, lovely atmosphere, fab staff. I will be back
J.
Lovely place to eat and drink whilst being beside the canal views.
G. T.
Fantastic service and even better food! The female staff were fabulous with our puppy and gave us a water bowl and biscuits as soon as they saw her. Beautiful location, definitely our new favourite local pub.
M. G.
Busy canal side pub. Welcoming staff. Food ok. Will return.
J. S.
Thought that a few halloumi fries where quite expensive? Beer was good. Shame that parents let there kids run wild while other people just want a nice meal and a quiet chat, should be separate areas for families. Capable of 5 stars easily with a few changes.
S. M.
Greatly improved. Food good value especially for the quality. Very friendly staff. Well worth a visit and I'll be back soon.
J. R.
Been here many times over many years and it's just got better and better. Food, delicious, service kind and thoughtful.
Doggies welcomed and views of the canal activities. Definitely a favourite of mine.
D. H.
We are new to the area, so it is with some trepidation we are going to unfamiliar places whilst juggling baby nap times, accomodation for a toddler, so going to a place we haven't eaten before is always a bit of a leap of faith. 3 locks was a relief. Friendly, accomodating staff who were attentive, and even training a new member of the team very well. The food was 5 star, above and beyond expectations. I had avocado salad with chicken. The chicken was perfectly cooked not dry, the avocado was perfectly ripe, not too soft or hard. The location is wonderful, and we will be returning to try more of the food.
s. e.
went in greeted by a friendly member of staff who asked us if we were having a drink or would we like to eat, we had initially just popped in to have a drink but changed our minds and decided to have something to eat, chef even came out to explain what was one of the specials which we thought was very nice.. ordered our food, potions were large food was hot and delicious. We watched plate after plate coming out of the kitchen all of which was presented exceptionally well, the roast dinner looks so good however we don't eat red meat but still looked so good. Well worth a visit. Thankyou for s very pleasant meal.
Just to add that excellent covid measures are in place... Well done guys.😁
L.
Really nice pub and restaurant. The food is good and the staff are friendly and attentive. On a nice warm and sunny day, you can sit outside and watch the barges go through the locks.
It's quite popular and I have been there countless times. I would recommend.
K. N.
We have been to lunch here twice lately and very very pleased with our experience. The food was excellent on both occasions.good menu, plenty of choice. The service was very good, the staff were friendly and efficient. Will definitely eat here again. The setting. is good too watching the boats going through the lock.
Altogether a very good and safe experience.
S. g.
Very nice relaxing pub on the canal great food and beer lots of seats each side of the pub
S. J.
I'm a bit biased because this is my local, but it is a lovely pub, with a cosy and welcoming interior, friendly staff and great food, and it sits in a great location right by the Grand Union canal. It's the perfect spot for a summer drinks by the canal, or an evening pint on or two autumnal evenings.
R. D.
5 stars for food taste and quality but it seems short of atmosphere partly due to the music which at one p point sounded like somebody banging a dustbin. Very clean, dog friendly, pleasant efficient staff, good range of food, mostly top notch dishes for the discerning palate. Not just pub food more special occasion eating out but not cheap either though it's still very good value.
G. E.
Amazing pub with amazing views and love and very helpful
A. G.
Lovely location but what kind of a pub runs out of crisps?
L.
Fantastic food. Great value for money. Very friendly and helpful wait staff. They've socially distanced tables so you feel safe and it has great hygiene standards. Also the views and atmosphere are perfect on a sunny September day. Thanks for the lovely time! Highly recommend to anyone.
S. H.
I like the location of the Three Locks, but yesterday our experience wasn't as nice as we had hoped. I booked an outside table, expecting a canalside view and instead got the busy road. Food tasted good, however a little stingy on the veggies front, especially as one of the meals was the vegan mushroom Wellington. The dinners weren't cheap either, 13.50 vegan option and 17.50 for roast beef. Two spoonfuls of veggies each, at least, would have served better value for money. Three green beans, 9 peas (yes, I counted) and not more than a tablespoon of cabbage is not a veggie serving. We left straight after eating. Hoping for a better experience next time.

I would come back here. nice staff. Nice atmosphere. and in Summer this place must be rocking! cider and beer. Both good
J. A.
Had a fantastic meal here Saturday evening. The steak was cooked to perfection, the staff friendly, helpful and polite. We really enjoyed ourselves and felt very safe with the diligence of the staff ensuring safe distance and cleanliness. Well done 3 Locks you did us proud thank you.
S. L.
The food was excellent, the staff were the right amount of attentive. The atmosphere was nice. I'm only knocking a star off because they'd run out of two menu items on a Saturday night which suggests poor stock management. I spent most of the night with one side of my face burning from the fire but I'll just make sure not to accept a table next to it next time! There was also what appeared to be a small flood in the ladies toilets. Overall, I will definitely come again, especially as I now know that dogs are welcome in the bar 🙌
D. M.
Location and venue is beautiful, big restaurant/pub right in the river and yes it's called 3 locks for that reason. You can sit out Riverside or in and staff were really friendly and helpful. Food is expensive but worth the price.
A. I.
Stopped for a drink late afternoon having walked from Fenny Stratford. Nice relaxed vibe - can't comment on the food but the Ukranian man behind the bar was excellent, the London Pride was good and my wife's Pinot was so enjoyable she had a second!
B. M.
Very enjoyable visit, good food and drink, lovely staff. Thoroughly recommended.
B. W.
Very friendly owner and staff and great food.
A. A.
Fantastic food, typical country pub how you would expect it but better. Fantastic entertainment for kids with beer garden facing the locks
M. S.
Great location dinning table looked out over one of the locks so always something going on......just in case you are struggling for conversation!
The menu is fairly limited but the good news is what they do is well cooked. Staff all friendly.
Decor smart, and its a long narrow build with windows both sides so bright and airy. There were screens between the tables and they were well spaced out. We went for lunch so cannot comment on evening lighting.
4 stars is good and would return.
Did return for a business lunch just before Lockdown 2. ALL the staff very helpful and friendly and the food could not be faulted, one of those places to go if you want to leave happy.
M. G.
Beautiful scenary, food was top notch and service was impeccable
R. S.
Beautiful venue, with Amazing views, brilliant team always happy to help!
B. D.
Always good variety of real ales
Foods good an all
D.
Lovely biker friendly pub next to some canal locks. Good food and friendly staff, well worth a look.
j.
Nice to sit outside and watch the barges just go by lovely place to visit
A. G.
Been going since I moved here 20 years ago and it's an ok pub,the new landlords provide a better service than some of the previous, though if there is 1 thing I'd change and that's a better range of real ales
G. H. H.
Food was amazing, service was wonderful, it's such a nice place
A. H.
Good food and beer in a canal side setting.
E. G.
Great position right next to the canal - outside area is lovely. Staff are friendly. One negative is that it was very busy and took ages to get served at the bar - this is often the case when the sun comes out (popular place) but was made more so because of the Rock The Lock event this weekend (bands playing etc). Nice range of drinks, I didn't eat but my friend enjoyed her burger. Overall, would happily recommend!
m.
Not sure what has happened to this pub, we have been here before and had wonderful food however this time we were disappointed. Staff gave off a vibe of being fed up which made us feel a bit awkward. Our drink order (2 drinks) was wrong, the reduced menu had some odd choices on it, and the food was underwhelming. Positives are that they had good Covid precautions in place - the tables were well spaced out with perspex screens between each table, and doors were open to keep fresh air flowing! Not sure we will hurry back though.
T. W.
They weren't having the best of days, the pub was full, they'd run out of a lot of food and then the gas wasn't working in the kitchen. They still managed to make 3 delicious meals, one was vegetarian plus a gluten free one.
Lovely food! Good customer service, knowledgable about GF and lovely coffee. I'll definitely go back, they did a brilliant job under not so easy circumstances
D. B.
Really good place to have a great dinner.
S. G.
Its a brilliant pub/restaurant, dog friendly too! perfect for seeing all different boats and magnet fishing, overall a bog standard pub, but the best reception and quality.
D. B.
A warm welcome from friendly staff. It has a lovely setting on the canal and makes great use of it with plenty of outdoor seating for drinks and meals. We stayed for dinner which was very good. The vegan burger option was sold out but the salad offered was a very good alternative.
C. C.
Really good food and a wide range of beers. Currently only take cash but never warned us until we paid. Luckily we had enough on us
J. J.
The best roast beef (in the Sunday Roast) I have EVER tasted! The food is amazing. Fantastic service by our waitress Jasmine, nothing was too much trouble and she was very friendly. The atmosphere is very relaxed in a modern but very cosy and comfortable restaurant. It is also situated right next to the canal in beautiful countryside. Thoroughly recommend it.
F. C.
Lovely Pub just by The Three Locks of the Grand Union Canal, wonderful place to go with family and friends. Amazing food and choice in beverages. Great place to visit via car or narrow boat. Wonderful seating area outside, great for the warmer months. Highly recommend.
R.
We decided to eat at the bar because the bartender was so lovely. It did get busier past 1.30 as we were waiting to pay but the food service was fast. The vegan menu was amazing we tried 2 starters and 2 mains all gorgeous we can't wait to go back and try the rest. Minus 1 star for luxury napkins can't be good for the environment ;)
W. H.
Was looking for light lunch so only had a soft drink then moved on. Menu looked ok if you want a full dinner, more for evening dining I would say.
C. R.
Turned up early for our booking, accommodated us well. Lovely vibe as you walk in to pub and friendly welcome from busy staff. Clean loos, and dog friendly in garden and bar area , will revisit with our dog after a good walk. Hubby had the three roast, I had the lamb. Expecting sliced but got a pulled lamb, it melted in the mouth. 4 roast pots plus big Yorkshire and veg, make sure you're hungry. Staff are attentive without being intrusive. Manager Sam checked table and was lovely to chat with. All in all a lovely experience in a great setting with friendly staff. Will return hopefully soon.
S. H.
Lovely atmosphere, food and drinks. Portion sizes were just right too. Great place for a meal and catchup with friends.
N. J.
Great food.
Great experience by the canal.
M. B.
What an amazing Sunday lunch. The food was sublime and so much flavour. The staff were excellent.
I will definitely be coming back
J. C.
Good quality pub food, prices are ok but the service was good especially considering it was really busy. The setting though is fantastic, plenty of seating outside to watch the barges go through the locks. Enjoyed the visit, atmosphere, friendly people and the food and prices were as you would expect. It can get busy though especially on hot days, if memory serves there's an overflow car park. Overall, enjoyed it and wouldn't hesitate going back.
I. R.
Eat outside on this visit. Used the app to order and pay for the drinks and food. App is clunky (especially payment - why not allow apple/Google play rather than enter your card details again) and only had a subset of the menu, but the drinks and food arrived well within the estimated time (although you only get told the estimated time after paying). Food was good, but quite pricey, but nice to eat out on a warm sunny evening.
D. L.
Such a lovely place to relax and catch up with friends over a meal and a few drinks.
P. M.
Our first visit Warm comfortable and welcoming for an evening meal. Really good friendly but professional service. Good food at fair prices. Large portions. I went for the Posh Fish & Chips which, to be honest was over the top - too much batter fried stuff for me - can't handle it anymore. But overall a very nice evening out for all. Will be back.
V. r. S.
Authentic English Pub,very friendly service
G. S.
We used to use the three locks regularly, this was a visit after a gap, the place had changed! Rather trendy, more expensive, beer still good but not much of a menu for the non meat eater/vegetarian, unless you want halloumi various ways or curry. The desserts are good but custard was disappointing - I am a custard fan. Service was efficient and food arrived quickly, probably because the restaurant wasn't busy. There was a strange odour around the bar area as if the septic tank needed emptying which rather ruined our evening!
D. J. H.
Very good local pub/restaurant. Reasonable prices.
A. B.
We arrived at around 3pm on a beautiful sunny day. They had been very busy but our starters arrived promptly. We had to chase our mains and a couple of them looked as though they had been under the hot plate for to long. The vegan menu is excellent as two of us are vegetarian and we will definitely go again.
P. G.
Good food from typical pub food menu but couple £ over priced. £15.95 for pork belly and £15.50 for pulled pork burger. Stylishly decorated and good location right on the canal side. Doesn't feel like a locals pub - lack of warmth from staff and fellow customers. Service fine though not quick. Drinks also over priced - £2.20 small bottle lemonade. Good and won't disappoint but not worth the money.
D. S.
Excellent food, well-served by friendly staff in such tough times. But ridiculous prices for wine: £11.75 for a 250mm glass of Sauvignon B, and then £34 for a bottle when three more glasses were asked for. No mention made of any of these prices, sadly - and then we saw bottles available for £23 when we finally looked at the menu: surely expensive enough for a provincial eatery? Our fault for not checking, but hey - The 3 Locks ain't The Ivy...!
M. W.
This is such a nice pub. The pub is situated overlooking the three locks on the canal with outside seating. There is a fine selection of craft beers and ciders. The food is excellent and they have an extensive vegan menu. Take a leisurely walk there along the canal then get the 70 bus home. Beware last bus is about 1900.
EDIT: They have since changed chefs and although there is still a vegan menu it is somewhat uninspiring. Check the menu before you go if a member of your party is vegan.
H. J.
I don't give 5 stars for just any places. I wish I could keep quiet about this hidden gem and have it all to myself but I can't.
There is a wide variety of drinks on offer at the bar.
Every staff member is friendly and welcoming.
I thought being a canal side place and the slightly higher price the portion size would be small; boy where we wrong. You get a nice bigger then usual portion size. We saw other meals on there way though the restaurant and they all looked great.
I
A. J.
Went for drinks. Nice outside area, maybe a bit more could be done with this. It’s right on the canal which is nice. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Was busy when we were here.
L. C.
Christmas festive meal, lovely food and generous portions. Unfortunately only 2 tables were occupied in the whole restaurant so lacking in atmosphere 😕
R. P.
Super place to go for lunch after a walk along the canal. Definitely worth a visit ☺️
D. O.
Perfect location, perfect pub! Yup, we really do love it here, first time we visited and certainly not the last. It's midway between us and our friends, so it's going to be used so much more as the summer kicks in. The food was great, service was great, the ambience was great, what more can you ask for. Certainly wipes the floor with the next pub down the canal 'The Globe' which is shockingly bad in comparison. Don't question it, if you want a lovely pub to have a drink or food, there's plenty of parking, and the location is spot on. Wish it was just a little bigger inside the main pub area, but heck you can't have everything. Bring on the summer is all I can say.
s. l.
Lovely place for a beer in the sun
P. W.
Lovely place, great atmosphere, service, food 🤤 and drinks too! Asahi ❤🔥
V. N.
The location, ambience, food & service just simply superb 💕
C. D.
First visit for a few years but good still as good as it was. Also a lovely sunny day!
C. M.
Initial service was good telling us how ordering works etc and then drinks were bought out promptly. Only 3 stars as very very limited food available and then when our burgers arrived one was cold, undercooked and soggy and one was overcooked and dry.
J. B.
It's just average, I won't be rushing back
J. S.
Just had a refurbishment just before the virus epidemic. Great pub for a drink by the canal. Good restaurant and well priced for the area. Gets very busy for weekends, especially for Sunday dinner. Clean and tidy toilets. Pleasant place for a drink and a bite.
E. C.
Lovely food, clean and tidy restaurant. Very friendly and attentive staff.
A. B.
Lovely pub on the canal with ample seating and dog friendly! Food is lovely with a great selection. I loved the small dishes (like tapas) and my dog loved having her bowl of sausage slices. Will definitely go again.
M. H.
Excellent food. Friendly service. Have always enjoyed our visits here.
K. S. (.
Popped in for a meal with the family tonight and booked the restaurant. We ordered the combo sharer to start and I had to ask if they had given us a double portion when it arrived. It was massive so be aware if with kids. We couldn't finish the mains but the staff boxed it up for us. Great food and great service.
C. R.
Fantastic pub. When we went it was the beer festival, which we didn't realise at first! It was very busy, so it was hard to find a seat, but I should think that quieter times would be much easier. Friendly service and the food was excellent. It was hard as an autistic person to be in there, as the pub was loud and the music was also loud to match it.
A. B.
Lovely gluten free food and good covid precautions - NHS tracking app, tables cleaned, perspex screens between them. However, some of the tables were TINY (perhaps 60cm square?) so my friend and I were facing each other much less than a metre apart when eating. I would definitely like to go again, but only if they can seat us at a larger table.
N. B.
Great pub in a great location.. food was as hoped for, and although pricey, was well worth it .. good quality ingredients cooked and presented well.. Will come back deffinately..
L.
We went here for a large family meal. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive.
A. M.
Good Sunday roast. Usually extremely packed on the weekends so make a booking especially on a sunny day. Great to sit outside by the lock on a sunny day. Service good but venue can get a little cramped. Very reasonably priced with great laid back clientele
G. B.
It's a thoroughly pleasant setting next to a canal and with a fairly quiet road for access. Well kept cellar, bar and saloon, but can't comment on food as I didn't happen to eat. Nice outside spaces, particularly relaxing to watch canal boats on a nice, sunny day, whilst sipping a cool drink.
J. E.
Nice comfortable pub & restaurant next to locks on the Grand Union. Well presented and good value food and excellent beers on offer.
Atmosphere can be a bit noisy at times due to the wood flooring but well worth a visit.
A. K.
Much better pub than Grove lock, tastier food and better beer. Can get busy though. Also if you boating it can take take a while to get through all the locks, specially when going up, although volunteers are often present at the side. Worth knowing that nearby farm got honesty box for fresh eggs from rescue hens.
N. H.
Food very good. Service very polite but slow ..due to function and loads of customers. Would definitely recommend and return. Also cater for .. vegan/gluten/ diets etc. So good for family gatherings. Excellent day out for my son's birthday.
K. B.
Great food and friendly staff. Not the cheapest place to eat but well worth the price. My wife is a celiac and nearly everything on the menu was either gluten free or there was a gluten alternative available which is really good. Will definitely be returning.
N. S.
A reasonable Pub situated on the Grand union canal at the three locks north of Linslade in Bedfordshire. Has a reasonable menu a little on the pricey side but never the less very acceptable. Atmosphere reasonable once pub fills up with punters. Location location location beautiful canal front setting adjacent to #1 lock of the infamous 3 in quick succession. I can recommend an enjoyable evening stroll along the tow path from nearby car parks to finish
K. L.
Very over priced but has a lovely beer garden.
When a starters average cost is more than the minimum wage you get one of 2 impressed about a place: gourmet or over priced "gastro".
Unfortunately it is the later. I say this in part because in my experience you can tell a great deal about a place by the state of it's bathrooms and whilst these try to give a rustic feel they are not very loved. Outdated, cramped and unmaintained. This does not reflect the level of standard they attempt to portray with their menu.
The menu can be viewed online and I'm afraid I was highly disappointed to order a "giant scotch egg" at £7 only to find that it was simply a home made scotch egg! There is nothing giant about it except the price.
It came with some mustard and salad garnish which sadly was drowned in a vinagar dressing which tainted the scotch egg. Now, the scotch egg itself was very nice however let's not forget that it's a very basic item.
I was not the only person to be very disappointed with their menu. Many of their customers were asking for a pub menu. Of course! Honest pub grub! Not overprice non sense.
Certainly this place should be offering an affordable lunchtime or outside menu if they want to get more business otherwise they will continue to see people just having a pint and going elsewhere for their food.
T. K.
Great location and grub. Outdoor seating could do with some touchups.
A. D.
Helpful staff. Lovely surroundings. Had a beautiful starter of pork belly bites with crackling and apple sauce. Highly recommended.
L. G.
Very nice food and lovely service. Hadn't booked table of 6 but they did everything they could to accommodate us which they did. Roast dinners were fabulous with fantastic puds! Definitely recommend
D. C.
Second visit. Drove 50 mins to get here as liked it the first time. Good food and drink. Nice atmosphere. Staff very helpful. Would come again. Note to chef more brie in bacon and brie baguette needed and more sugar in crumble fruit but all good otherwise.
M. C.
So nice and really nice food 😋
J. C.
A last minute search for a Sunday roast and the Three Locks came up trumps. A really good size portion of food that delivered on flavour. Perhaps a little on the pricey side but all in all worthy of five stars.
If you are looking to eat early i would advise booking in advance as it is extremely popular.
A. B.
Very good pub too
K. P.
Dropped in for a pint after mooring just after the locks. Lovely bar, great staff, beautiful location. Was stumped by the vegetarian/vegan options so decided to stay for dinner. Did not regret it!
M. I.
Frequently changing vegan menu, real ales, dog friendly and happy staff. Always a popular spot, busier at the weekends due to really good food and plentiful parking/ease of access for walkers. Great spot year round for watching life on the canal slowly slide by.
V. M.
Nice staff and a great location. Recently decorated in typical Mitchell's and Butler style, which is OK. Sunday lunch was a bit tepid. The price reflects the need to pay the owners (M&B) a large part of the profits. Good luck to the tenants.
R. S.
Lovely food and great service. The burger was awesome. Attractive setting by the canal.
L. W.
We go here regularly for lunch. However change if menu recently leaves a lot to be desired. Firstly NO sugar free drinks other than diet than diet coke and obviously water. Very poor. No sweet potato fries which were excellent. Apparently this is down to cost.......the sharing menu was mostly bland and tasteless. Bring back previous menu items pls.
J. P.
Sadly, the three locks didn't match up to its usual standard. Slow cooked lamb was tuff. That though wasn't the disappointment. Staff didn't seem on the ball at all. From the slowness of getting our refreshments to staff hair not tied back and full beards not covered. All sounds a little trivial, you may think. Finding flaky skin and hair in your food, isn't a good advertisement. I'm not saying I had this problem but could of. If the likes of McDonald's can deal with this issue. I'm sure a premium establishment like the three locks can. Yes I will return, because I'd like to think it's a simple blip
C. M.
Very nice pub in a great location
D. W.
We had a really good meal here 4 adults and 2 teenagers all had something different and each meal was very good, would use this pub again and tell all our friends, perfect position for the start of our canal boat holiday. and free wifi bonus!!! kids loved it.
R. J.
Very good food. Service was great we were made to feel very welcome and nothing we asked of the staff was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend. The beer selection I saw looked interesting and anyone into that sort of thing I'm sure wouldn't be disappointed.
M. W.
We had a lovely meal for my daughters 32nd birthday tonight. We was served by Sam, she was absolutely amazing 💜 The food was incredible 5* 😍
c. b.
This pub has always had the best location, but this time I visited I received the best service the staff were friendly and accommodating. I will be back as soon as possible.
L. H.
Well this place is amazing !! We were doing a booze cruise down the Grand Union from Weedon to Leighton Buzzard and this place just blew everyone else out of the water. It was our Silver Wedding Anniversary and the best evening of the week by far. It was the first day of the Summer menu and it did not disappoint, the food was delicious, the staff friendly and efficient, and compared to the others very reasonably priced the drinks were cheaper too - we had the same every night (I checked my receipts, to compare to others as I could not believe it!) The Sticky Toffee Pudding with butterscotch sauce is amazing compared to the one at the Black Horse Wolverton which they should rename Stoggy Toffee Pudding without any sauce!!!! Even though it's a 60 mile round trip we will be back.
S. P.
Loved the food here, and a really nice place to sit and have lunch. Unfortunately we went at a busy time so there was a bit of a wait for food but that was to be expected (it was nice to be told before we ordered that there would be a wait). Would definitely come here again!
S. G.
Went for a sunny walk a long the canal and wasn't expecting such a great day out. Live music was great and food/bbq really good. Plenty of staff meant regularly cleared tables and empties removed. Good service for a busy and hot day. Great atmosphere.
D. p.
Good food and nice beers. Bit on the pricy side, I had a pie and a pint and it was just over £20. But lovely location next to the locks and staff were really nice. Happily visit again.
C. H.
Edit: Has a different menu Sunday lunchtimes to squeeze Sunday roast in. Trouble is it leaves off a lot of stuff I like from the normal menu, although others may like it. Loses a star for me.
—————
Great canal side pub. Above average pub grub and decent beer. The best thing is getting a table by the canal in the summer and watching people in hire boats going through the eponymous three locks making muppets of themselves. Dogs allowed in at least the bar where you can also eat.
T. B.
Really delicious food and the staff were very friendly. We arrived a little early but this was not a problem at all. The decking area is great and a really nice relaxed environment.
S. B.
The food was really nice, the desserts we're ok, the looked really good, and we're nice but were not as flavourful as we expected when we saw how good they looked. our waitress was really good and the restaurant area was good as well
L. R. I.
Great peaceful location by the Grand Union Canal. Good food good beer and good staff attitude. Stretch your legs or ride your bikes for miles down the towpath overlooking unspoilt countryside. Or, just sit and chill out while watching the boats navigate the locks. Perfect day out!
3. V. M.
Really great service and food. Perfect for those family meals. It's also in a good location.
B. K.
Great food, relaxing environment. Well recommended
R. M.
Not a bad gastropub. Food quality fluctuates. Has some vegan options, but the selection of vegan options also goes up and down with changing seasons and ownership. It's a canal side pub, so expect drinks and food to be over priced. Has some entertainment options, but strongly biased towards soft rock bands.
D. B.
Amazing food, awesome ambience and the food is to die for. Had a special burger today... was a beef, chicken n pulled pork amalgamation.. was divine!!! Jean, Chris and Sam along with the rest of the team go out of their way to make sure ur happy and always have a smile ready for you.. if ur looking for somewhere that has that something extra then you won't find better... canal views and serenity. It's amazing... can't rate this amazing place highly enough. Returning customer guarenteed. Dan
S. M.
Very nice meal. Recommend the pork belly. Staff very friendly.
M. O.
The best food for miles around and well managed by the lovely Ramona. I am so pleased this pub is only a mile away from my home>
They also stock really interested different beers every week and the outside space beside the locks is fab
K. M.
Very good food and a great selection of beers, ales and gins. Excellent staff.
L. s.
Went to this lovely pub for the first time , me and my friend had a great time , very happy and helpful staff the food was amazing we both had a is Steak & Chips. It's was very nice and of the highest quality , i live in Birmingham but I will definitely be going back , beautiful to sit bythe water too , I loved this place
K. W.
Great food and a nice menu with things a little different than most other pub restaurants. Really nice ambiance to the place and pretty popular too so best to check in advance for a table 👌😉
N. R.
Beautiful setting on the canal for this big, friendly pub which serves great food and has plenty of indoor and covered outdoor seating
C. W.
Very nice place, staff very attentive but not in your face and the food is AMAZING. Shame we're not local or we'd be in here all the time. Highly recommend.
L. B.
We had a great Sunday evening meal at The Three Locks. Food was excellent and plentiful and the staff were brilliant.
I. A.
Really nice place with good food. The staff is also really lovely. Would definitely recommend 🥰
m. w.
Maddie our hostess, Was Brilliant nothing was too much trouble, the food was of the highest standard,
And the service was exceptionally Brilliant.
We Would eat here all the time,
If we wasn’t on holiday.
N. H.
Good food, attentive staff and great location on 3 Locks of Grand Union canal.
Would be 5 stars but it is a bit expensive.. Overall highly recommend this Gastro pub.
D. G.
Great location by the canal - and the locks! Nice interior, good beer and wine selection. Menu is good but food quality was poor - but this might have been since it was a Monday lunchtime.
T. W.
Three Locks is now a seafood restaurant with an excellent selection of seafood and non seafood meals. I highly recommend it.
R. C.
Chain pub, not a local pub.
good selection of real ales but the staff dont know about how to serve beers or pour pints and will serve anything , bad pints ,dregs of barrels, wet glasses straight from the washer, they replace bad drinks without a fuss but its a bit rude to serve a bad pint to a regular especially now craft beer is a premium price drink, bad pints of real ales can really make you sick for days. The bar staff just do their job and don't talk to the customers, there is no atmosphere of a pub in the place, its more like a fast food restaurant. We ordered two Cokes and were served pints of disgusting flat syrup concentrate that hadn't been mixed or carbonated which we had to take back, its not the customers job to test your drinks you should be aware of what you're selling.
J.
Solid gastropub food in a pleasant lockside environment. We ate in the restaurant section, but given the low level of staffing, we had to wait longer than we'd like for service. Assuming the (tasty) menu's the same, we'll likely eat in the pub section next time and get our drinks more quickly by going to the bar ourselves.
K. B.
Always enjoy my visit. Sat in sun by canal
M. J.
Excellent lunch will be back 👍
V. B.
Lovely view of the canal, delicious menu and amazing services. Staff are lovely and polite. Also, it's a pets/dog friendly pub.
L. C.
There were 9 of us and the staff didn't blink. I have food tolerances and they managed fine! It's very nice, food is excellent & staff helpful. Would love to go back.
r.
Came here on a Monday around 1.30pm. We didn't book, but this wasn't a problem, we were seated in the restaurant no issues.
We wore masks, as did all the staff when serving us. Drinks order was taken straight away and our starters also arrived very quickly.
The halloumi fries were AMAZING.
We both got the 3 Locks Burger with skinny fries. I found my burger a little toigh and dry, but otherwise it was lovely.
Service was quick and friendly, COVID precautions were good and would definitely return.
K. R.
Good food, good beer, friendly staff, rubbish service. Waited an hour after ordering food, heard nothing so I went to the bar to check where it was. Guess what-it was next to be served. If you go here you need to be very patient. Shame.
C. K.
Lovely food, well cooked. Friendly pub. Helpful staff.
D. H.
Nice food and attentive service without being intrusive. The covid precautions were efficient enough to be effective without spoiling the atmosphere.
L. W.
Lovely location and decor inside is great with a nice atmosphere. Food was lovely and they were really accommodating with our group which included a 5 and 1 year old. Highly recommend.
M. A.
Good food, served hot with professional service.
j. c.
Excellent place to stop off for a lunch time drink. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Sitting by the canal with a cool drink in the summer sunshine very pleasant indeed
S. L.
Very pleasant place to be on a sunny autumn day. Food a little dissapointing. Duck was very tough. I didn't complain I should have but time was against us
We will try it again however.
M. C.
Great food, great beer, wonderful setting and the staff are brilliant!
X. S.
Old menu was excellent ie included risottos, mussels, etc. Now its just normal pub grub options. Still nice but not interesting enough to make the journey. Shame as used to love this place.
P. W.
Lovely pub with great meals out side seating where you can watch the world and canal boats
S. F.
Beautiful place for a relaxing drink and the meals are great too. Only complaint is if you ask for a bowl of chips as a sharer you only get a small cup for £4
P. F.
Very nice food, lovely staff, great service. Have eaten here many times for years.
E. W.
Nice food, but chair was very lose, so I felt a bit unsafe, all the tables in the far corner of the bar wobble. Really annoying when trying to eat and spilt my drink. Please sort it out its letting you down.
R. N.
Service and food is good. Bear excellent. Grate atmosphere. Is brilliant in summer, you can sit outside and watch boats go by.

Love this pub always plenty of water based traffic with many interesting people to engage with, bar staff need a plan of action when it gets busy ! Good “pup” food ! Priced accordingly 😊

The service took 40 minutes, and the food was ok, but my veggie red Thai curry had only the rice, and on top the sauce with a few sliced peppers and red onions and a very few sliced mushrooms. I personally think that they could have added a few more vegetables like broccoli, or carrots or any other vegetable.
J. C.
Okay of a place. 3* due to not having some light snacks on manu for lunch (ie) sandwiches, baguettes.
Service was good though.
G. F.
Very tasty food and friendly service. Will definitely return
T. P.
Service was nice, food a little cold, other than that a stunning pub
M. R.
Regular visitor here, the food is great, good selection of beers, the staff are lovely. The interior revamp
Is excellent. Highly recommend.
D. R.
Superb number of taps, both keg and cask. When the weather is good you can't get much better. Sit and have a couple while watching the boats go by. Well worth a visit.
T. W.
Beautiful pub! Staff were lovely, food was really good but very, very expensive!
S. W.
Sam is amazing!!!
The food was fantastic 5*, She even gave me a birthday treat 😋
Highly recommend coming to The Three Locks you won't be disappointed!!!
T. P.
The food is very good
But I enjoy watching the boat’s going through the locks very entertaining
C. G.
Good choice of food. Lovely roast with a Yorkshire the size of your head! Friendly staff and delicious homemade ice cream.
L. M.
Lovely place staff friendly and so helpful.
F. N.
Didn't have the chance to have a meal in here. Was asked for a reservation even if it was many tables available. Will try another time.
S. W.
Nice position by three locks good to watch the canal boats in the warmer months. Good food and lots of seating. Good choice of drinks at the bar!
M. K.
Excellent food. Brilliant service. Great spot for spending some time relaxing and watching the boats. Would certainly visit again.
M. N.
Pleasant canalside pub, good range of beer, friendly staff. Was popular for food during my visit - food looked good but didn't have any myself
C.
Good food, friendly fast service. Can't fault it !
F. T.
Great pub & lovely staff
C. B.
Nice pub / location but food ( classic burger) was disappointing. Tasteless and quite dry burger. Lacking any seasoning and tasted of nothing. Really disappointed.
L. K.
Lovely to sit outside and eat on a warm summers evening. Very relaxing. Dog friendly too. Live music on certain nights. Good canal side restaurant and bar.
R. R.
Beautiful canal side location, relaxing place to sit and eat. Nice varied menu, shame I couldn't see any local beer on tap but lovely place to visit all the same
P. G.
Excellent service. Menu I think a little limited for obvious reasons. Lovely setting not too busy.
J. J.
One of my fav pubs, dog friendly too, have a nice walk along the canal then stop in for a drink and something to eat, what could be better on a Sunday afternoon?
G.
It was nice and cosy. And friendly bar staff but Sunday roast was expensive for what you got and roast potatoes where so hard could not eat the outside of them.
R. H. B.
Service was excellent. Food was superb. I was just a little chilly. It wasnt busy this lunchtime so that probably made a difference. Will be back.
Z. S.
Lovely place right next to the canal. Servis was lovely and food delicious.
L. F.
Hi the service was excellent very welcoming very friendly from the beginning...the food was delicious ... very pleased to find a good variety of gluten free choices excellent food.. will definitely come again and recommend to family and friends...
K. H.
Beautiful views, ordered a nachos and was warned there would be a 45 minute wait and 5 minutes later out they came, they were perfect and for only £4 I was more than satisfied!
I. C.
Lovely pup, very well decorated food was delicious, marked down on the fact staff could have been friendlier and prices were a tad high on the soft drinks
D. W.
Staff are friendly. Food is very good . It is a nice place to go for something drink and food with the boats go pass.
J. M.
Lunch was good. Unfortunately I thought the toilets were in need of a full refurbishment. One was out of order and the others need new toilet seats at the very least. Very pleasant staff.
C. M.
Great food. Lovely looking place. Served by a very nice lady.
N. C.
Delicious lunch with family. Always great service.
T. G. S.
Handsome building in a good canal side location, with pleasant and warm decor inside. Friendly service with a good menue and excellent food. Enjoyed our visit for a late lunch very much.
A. H.
Friendly staff, good food and a nice evening out
P. A.
Lovely venue, friendly staff but we went for lunch on Sunday and to be honest they were out of things and the chicken and vegetables must have been in the oven far too long and were overcooked. Shame as I wanted it to be so much better than it was.
K. R.
Xmas party with the firm. Very nice three course dinner. Steak was really nice, everyone was impressed. Friendly staff good service. Would recommend.
A. A.
We ordered 4 meals but 1 of the meals was very bland. Apart from that it was a good place to watch the boats go by
A. P.
Lovely food and good views of the narrow boats going through the locks, Great on a sunny day.
Big portions and the burger was delicious.
H. A.
Beautiful scenery. Lovely little pub by the Lock. I haven't tried the food yet but it does look good and the prices are reasonable.
L. D.
Fantastic place to go either for something to eat or just for a drink. Beautiful canalside location plus a vegan menu and food and beer suitable for doggy companions.
V. R.
Location excellent, drinks lovely, waiting staff helpful and friendly, food was nice but MASSIVELY overpriced and portions tiny - won't eat again but happily visit for a drink.
M. P.
Beautiful location and great food
L. S.
Beautiful food and excellent service.
D. S.
Great setting with a good selection of ales and good menu
G. O.
Lovely dog friendly pub at the side of the canal. Really friendly staff
N. W.
We struck just lucky, only popped in to see the spot. And much to our delight, not one but two barges to pass through. Making it all the more pleasant, great spot for an evening pint.
J. J.
Fabulous place although the sausage and mash was very tiny portion.
w. j.
Great friendly staff and delicious food. Good Covid safety in place also. Will definitely be going back
M. S.
Only reacquainted with The Three Locks during lockdown 1, have been back many times since as it’s on my favourite social bike ride
E. K.
Supercool traditional lpub.
O. W.
Only passed by on a canal boat, but the atmosphere is great, and the food is absolutely amazing!! Wide range of drinks both soft and alcoholic
J. T.
Good beer and a menu with a wide choice of well cooked food, add in the canal side location and laid back atmosphere and what's not to like 👍
T. R.
Love it here - great food and fantastic location on the canal. Also a brilliant selection of drinks, from ale to gin!
B.
Ample parking here makes it an ideal starting point for a multitude of walks from towpath to beautiful undulating Buckinghamshire countryside. A short distance to the Greensand Ridge, Rushmere country park with its stunning Woodlands.
The Locks featured in the 1964 film "The Bargee" starring Harry H Corbett and Ronnie Barker.
S. H.
Nice location with tables outside right next to the locks on the Grand Union canal. Food OK, but slightly expensive for what it was. Service very slow.
C. W.
Good food but very slow service, 45 minutes for just a one course meal for four people on a quiet Thursday afternoon.
J.
Fantastic canal-side pub offering a wide selection of wonderful food and drink. A superb place to be on a hot summer’s day!
D. W.
Had a fantastic meal, followed by watching the narrow boats traverse the locks. Great place, would visit again 100%
S. J. J.
Absolutely love it here....... however we went Saturday lunchtime looking forward to our door step sandwiches that are absolutely scrummy...... so dissapointed when they came out.... thinly sliced bread sandwiches.... was disappointed... could be forgiven if we were late but we arrived as midday......wouldnt have ordered them if we had known. 😣
G. C.
Amazing food, best fish n chips ive ever had
R. T.
Fantastic location, lovely staff and great food.
Dog friendly too.
J. G.
Nice atmosphere and decor, but food portions are small and very expensive for what they are!
s. l.
Probably best avoided at weekends when full of hire boats, unless you are a hire boat, in which case if there are no volunteers working - take it slowly, think ahead, you need locks set in pairs preferably with 2 boats in each and cross in the middle. There are no mooring buoys in between locks.
S. L.
Visited while canal boating, prices not cheap but quality was good. Managed to hit it when they had rock on the lock. So extra BBQ bit.
L. S.
Very well run in these difficult times, a fine selection of real ale. Good food also.
G. L.
Delicious meal in lovely surroundings with attentive staff. Very dog friendly too. Will definitely return.
C. D.

Lovely pub and outside seating area. Slightly disappointed in the gluten free rasberry and lemon cake we tried on the day,
G. D.
A wonderful lock side pub / restaurant. Prices higher than average but worth it for the quality. Recommend a visit, parking usuaĺly ok.
F. L. K.
Great service, great food. There was something odd about my salad but apart from that I would highly recommend.
A. H.
Thank you 3 Locks. We just had a lovely Christmas meal! Friendly and fun staff...great food and drink. Cosy and highly recommended!
M. W.
Occasionally go here usually for dinner on a Sunday. Friendly and welcoming. Food is always good. Find there cheese board is far to big
I. M.
Great location, but the lunchtime menu is very limited and needs a lot more snacks other than 3 types of sandwhich.
C. B.
A really lovely pub to have a bite to eat and a beer, sit outside watch the boats go up and down on the lock, would highly recommend it
J. D.
My favourite pub within MK region, always great food and service and can't beat a Sunday basking in the beer garden watching the world (Or canal boats) pass by.
M. D.
Lovely lunch, fish and chips excellent, ham egg and chips brilliant, need to have proper buns for burgers, hate brioche!
K. E.
Went for sunday lunch. Busy . Food was ok . Sides better than mains . Meat very fatty. All in all wojld come again. Maybe not for Sunday lunch menu
