Wasn't sure on the staff at first as they didn't greet us when we first arrived on the roof terrace, but we soon found them to be friendly and very attentive. The food was excellent although a little bit slow between courses, however that was fine with us as we were there for a leisurely lunch with drinks as well.

Recently visited Newcastle and found this fabulous place enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch staff are so polite and definitely work as a team. Infact we enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much We came back the next day. And everything was tip top and enjoyable again. We would definitely make a third visit if we are in Newcastle again.

We had a lovely meal and the service was brilliant. The young man on the door and the young ladies who served us were so pleasant. We had sweet chilli beef and garlic prawns for starters. For mains the seabass and curry.The sticky toffee pudding and the mini sweet with espresso was delicious but we were half way through before I realised I had not taken a photo. The whole experience was spot on!

Staff quite abrupt as no one on entrance so we went to next level only to be told off. We asked for table of four for food and drink. Took us outside and offered seat that had rain running down awning into overflowing wine bucket. I asked to sit elsewhere. Waited at least twenty minutes for drinks. So decided to drink up and leave .

Lovely atmosphere and comfy seating. Food was well presented and tasty, (although my main course wasn't what I'd ordered, but what I was brought was fine), and staff friendly. However, I was given a dirty glass with lipstick, and was served by staff with excessive jewellery/facial piercings and ridiculously long, false, painted nails which obviously hindered her ability to do the job.

Nice outside eating area. I had Sunday meal of roast pork. It was inedible, even the steak knife had trouble cutting it. Nothing happened when I complained to the waitress. I should have been more forthright about it!

A lovely place with a great menu. My friends had lovely meat sandwiches, and I had a vegetable and hazelnut tart. Sadly the chips tasted as though they were made yesterday and my tart was not very filling at all, very thin pastry and very litlle filling, no side salad or chips to boost its calories. I came home and had a sandwich afterwards.

Wrap up warm if you intend to have food and drinks on the terrace outside other than the summer months. We were able to transfer to a table inside, much cosier, and just settled up the bill at the end of the evening. Very civilised

Great to be back to Barluga after over a year due to lockdown and the food is even better. Had a delicious Sea Bass with Steamed Potatoes & Mediterranean vegetables. As ever, service was top notch. As for wheelchair access, it’s level on ground floor where the accessible toilet is located. Sadly, the roof terrace is inaccessible as no lifts and parking outside in Grey Street is even more difficult now due to more pedestrianisation in the area.

Lovely building on beautiful Grey Street. Cocktails as well as surroundings were fab. Waitress service. Unfortunately ladies toilets were down very steep and narrow stairs which could be a problem for anyone with mobility problems, but maybe there were alternative facilities on the ground floor which i didn't see? In general a very enjoyable visit.

Great bar with an excellent terraced area. It can get very busy and sometimes takes a while to get served, but that is expected due to its popularity and is standard for any bar in Newcastle at peak time. Staff and door security are great and well mannered and areas were all very clean.

Top bar. I've drank here for at least ten years, though perhaps not so frequently the last year or so. I'm on Guinness or nothing else pretty much, and that drink is fine here. Typical higher end City centre prices aren't low so don't expect much shrapnel from a fiver for a pint. It's arguably due another refurb, but the newer outside seating is great for what little orange ball in the sky action we have. EDIT August 21: Certain female door staff are absolutely not welcoming. This has been noted by myself and other colleagues this last few weeks. My above review still stands by the way.

Have spent a wonderful few days in Newcastle. Came across Barlugia, only visited the terrace (twice), such good value two courses for £10 and would thoroughly recommend the cocktails. The service in Barluga was sublime. My friend and I occasionally meet at Barluga, where are favourite meal is mussels and thick chunky chips, finished off with a tasty creme brulee. The food was excellent, served quickly and efficiently by a really friendly waitress (whose name I ommitted to take) The service was attentive, but not intrusive, and just the right level of professionalism. I would always recommend Barluga to anyone, who wants to spend a comfortable afternoon eating and conversing in a clean and pleasant environment.

Hubby and i decided 2 venture 2 Newcastle for a spot of lunch as we dont get many full weekends togther him being a shift worker now. Settled on Barluga hoping 2 get a seat in the sunshine on the roof terrace. Well I decided on seam bream on bed of crayfish risotto and buttered spinach and hubby had the beef dinner. Both were very nice washed down with btl of Malbec in the sunshine. Very nice then continued to chill out on the terrace in the rays 🌞🌞🌞 until it became a bit breezy. Went inside and sat in the lovely atmosphere inside 2. Staff very kind and attentive. Perfect Sunday afternoon before the working week starts again on Monday xx
