Reviews of Bridge Hotel
C. M.
Bar staff, friendly and knowledgeable about everything on offer. Good selection of beverages. Great atmosphere always clean and tidy, nice outdoor area. We were offered samples of a cider (which was lovely) without even asking. Would recommend and will be calling in again soon. Sound gaff!
P. L.
If walls could talk there would be many a conversation coming from the walls in this place!!! Old pub next to the High Level Bridge and worth a stop! They didn’t do food though at time of writing…. Still worth a stop for a beer…
G. V.
Amazing beer selection, my favourite is the Tyne Titans. The porter is also delicious. Great staff behind the bar, very friendly as well. A must see in Newcastle at any time of the day!
M. A.
I really enjoyed my experience there, despite only having two pints! What I would term a real life English pub, busy with locals, expansive, has loads of character, and a wonderful community ambience!
M.
Strolled in here last night and had a few pints of the black stuff. Nice pub with a good atmosphere. The crowd was a real mix of students, suits & groups of blokes. The staff were great and looked after me, especially James. Many thanks. Rob.
S. V.
The Bridge has long been my favourite pub in Newcastle and I've been in a few! It is an old fashioned pub, no blaring music, no disco lights and not packed so you can't sit down. Have a pint (very good choice) and a chat (remember those). The staff and especially the owner are very friendly, will introduce himself and much fist pumping. Excellent Pub.
J. W.
Great British pub with loads of choice and a great atmosphere.
J. A.
Great atmosphere and staff. Selection of beers is excellent. Classic pub
S. R.
Great bar, nice selection of cask. Great outdoor space looking over the bridges. Always worth a stop if in that part of Newcastle.
Not sure if it is dog friendly though.
R. S.
Great town pub with plenty of different spaces! Large selection of real ale in tap. Normally have the sport on the TV. Live Big Band upstairs on the last Thursday of each month.
M. T.
Really nice Publican. Not what i expected inside, only went in to use the loo but had to stay for a beer and take it in
D. D.
Decent but expensive. Really nice place and niche bar. Very posh. If you want somewhere private and don't care about price. You'd like this place
J. B.
Good pub, good service good selection of beers not full of idiots ,great place to meet good friends .
M. N.

e. d.
Great pub, huge choice of ales and spirits available , live sport on tv
P. B.
A proper pub! Great beers, and a great location next to Newcastle castle keep, overlooking the Tyne
L. W. W.
A lovely old pub with a great selection of beers. Built right next to the castle itself.
Still has not yet become a victim of the Instagram generations desire to sit in diamond clad luxury. A pub that has changed little in the 30 odd years I have frequented it. Well worth a visit if you want a proper Geordie pub.
A. L.
Excellent place for a quiet drink in the middle of Newcastle.
R. P.
A beer drinkers "mecca" - just outside city centre behind castle but worth the walk. Nice traditional pub layout with great range of quality Ales & Lagers. One not to miss.
D. M.
Great place. Probably my favourite bar in Newcastle. Great ales, venue and atmosphere. James the barman provided top quality service and nothing was too much for him.
J. N.
This is a nice pub. Beers are OK. Not great if your a crafty like me. However the pub is done out great. The small beer garden at the back is brilliant. It looks over the Tyne. The staff are friendly. But not great at service. Kept waiting drinks a few times.
T. S.

Only popped in for one drink but it was clean and the staff on the ball.

Good range of beers, friendly staff, not normally too busy so a good place for a pint when you just want a beer- oh and the views are rather good also!
T. O.
Cracking Boozer, nicely off the "mainstream" but still very busy and lively, excellent beers!
C. B.
Lovely traditional pub.
D. C.
Atmospheric pub with excellent beer selection, served by knowledgeable and engaging staff.
N.
Great old pub , recommended
S. J.
Nice pub, lots of space, good atmosphere!
P. S.
Opposite the Newcastle Keep. This pub has quality written all over it. The building has character, the view from the beer garden is incredible. The décor inside is on the more traditional refined pub. They offer a great selection of real ales, as well as the usual lager's, wines and spirits. Recommended.
Q. T.
Cracking Pub with great staff. The selection and quality of the beers is second to none. Meals and bar snacks are outstanding. Down stairs is a delightful beer garden, offering great views over the Tyne. On the odd occasion, a water feature can be experienced.
M. I.
Great pub with friendly staff and clientele. Always an excellent range of beers
B. P.
Great pub tucked away near vermouth Hotel, good choice of beers at good prices friendly staff and out door area overlooking river
A. P.
This is the classic pub atmosphere in my view. Each of the 3 levels presents its own feel. Fantastic decor emphasises the unique ambiance, a belting oub
G. W.
Fabulous and frequently updated range of proper beer to suit most tastes. Not very expensive, though rather more costly than a Wetherspoons. Nice view from one side and far enough away from the busiest roads to feel a little quiet at times. A great place to spend an afternoon trying different ales. The food looks decent too, though hours are limited. Beware of toilets either up or down stairs!
T. K.
It’s your classic English pub. It also has a strong selection of beers and friendly staff. It always has a friendly atmosphere, often nice and quiet but definitely gets a crowd when the football is on - it’s a great local place for a pint when you’re in Newcastle!
D. G.
Iconic pub. Superb selection of beers, properly served with attentive staff. Always a good mix of people and a friendly atmosphere. The interior is how a real pub should be. It might be traditional but the décor is just fantastic.
G. D.
Great proper pub friendly staff and good beer.
F. F. S.
As always a decent pint. Great location. Views from the beer garden and The Castle out the front!
R. T.
Out tonight trying to support our local pubs and restaurants...The Bridge, an old favourite and very welcoming. Hand sanitizer on arrival and shown to a socially distanced table. Table service was good, prompt and reliable. Face coverings to he worn when going to the loos downstairs. Very comfortable and relaxed, overall a pleasant experience.
A. C.
Smart looking pub with a long bar yet retains room segregation for privacy. Decent pint. Cheerful staff.
J. D.
Popped in for a quick one Sat afternoon and the 3 lads on the bar were awesome - full of energy and really attentive to all tables - this is what hospitality has been missing for the last year! Must visit.
A. C.
Great surroundings, good range of drinks, excellent service
D. M.
Great beer selection, wonderful friendly staff and all round good times
M. C.
Lovely little atmospheric pub. Pay a little bit more for your pint but it's totally worth the money.
A. S.
Beautiful old building but cold when we were in
M. “.
An excellent place for a beer when out in Newcastle. Big and spacious. Lots of room for plenty of folk.
Upstairs is a good room that has live local bands sometimes.
Excellent choice of beers including plenty of changing ale pumps.
R. B.
Our favourite stop when on a street walk and shoot ..
A. B.
Lovely, friendly traditional pub with a (small) beer garden with amazing views
G. L.
Love this pub, different to lots of others in Newcastle. Great location and never too busy.
Prices are good and there is a large selection of beers pulled by friendly bar staff.
Great views from the almost secret beer garden at the back of the venue, over looking the Tyne.
A great starting point to a night out before entering the more poserish part of town
T. H.
Great atmosphere, good beer and the place was clean
J. B.
Chilled friendly place for a Scouser like me to visit, reminds me of the Crown, Dr. Duncan's and others back home
D. S.
Great pub, good range of beers and dog friendly.
a. m.
Great pub. Excellent service and great staff. Dog friendly which is always a bonus
B. A. M.
My favorite post-match pub in Toon. I love The Bodega and The Botanist pre-match. But this place has a coziness and quite a lot of sentimental value. It's where I go after the Lads play. I always see friends here. I'm from New York. To be able to walk into a Newcastle pub after a game and see guys I know is kinda extraordinary.
K. T.
Good boozer with a great choice of real ales
B. T.

A warm atmosphere in a traditional Victorian pub setting. A good choice of drinks are on offer plus fantastic food. The great location adds to the charm of the place.
I. A.
We just called in as a stop gap and we were all really surprised and impressed (ended off having a couple of drinks 😜), pleasant staff and a good atmosphere, will definitely go again ......
D. U.
Great city center pub good selection of drinks
D. S.
Excellent traditional pub with great views over the Tyne. Great choice of real ales.
T. G.
Good value pub in the centre of town. Depending on what you are drinking you can get 3 pints (of really good real ale) for under a tenner, so a cheap evening out for Newcastle. Great selection as well, the Blonde Star (I think by Anarchy Ales), was my pick of the beers on my last visit.
A. B.
This is a great old school pub with a good selection of beers and bar food. The building itself is lovely and sits out of the way from the rest of town. One of my favourite pubs in Newcastle and well worth a visit.
F. H.
Place was great good time staff were miserable
A. M.
This is another old original pub that Newcastle has with a good selection of real ales. Quite a large area around the bar and just off the High Level Bridge so not too far out of the way, great pub and not expensive. Handy to call in on the way to Quayside or Dene Street.
j.
Absoloutely love love love this pub lovely hidden beer garden out back nice cheap pints and massive selection of beers and spirits
D. s.
Nice old bar with plenty of character. Staff are very welcoming. I would highly recommend that you try to get along to the folk night, there's some fine local entertainment to listen to whilst sipping a nice cool pint from the bar.
G. L.
Great pub, great music
R. B.
A good pub serving good beer in a great location
J. M.
Lovely bar and wonderful staff. Always a warm welcome. Lovely sitting in the sunshine watching the world go by.
T. T.
Been a drinker here since the days of Paddy Foley, whose picture until recently featured on the wall down to the loo.
Great beer. Welcoming staff. Comfortable. And in a great spot in town.
K. C.
Loving atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff.
j. z.
Love this Pub. Original, beautiful and lots of great tasting Ales & Beers.
S. G.
Lovely quick service even when busy
J. B.
Surprisingly quiet for a Friday in December, but a good atmosphere. Drinks a bit on the pricier end of acceptable, but not excessive. Only one tequila, but a good selection of rums.
T. M.
What a marvelous pub. I was very much pleased and if I lived closer it would be my local.
I think I might move.
D. S.
Great place!!. ..a proppa quinquennial English pub... not many of these gems left ..Sat outside, in the sunshine...class 👌
d. m.
Expensive but great selection of Real Ales
P. B.
If you're after real ale or some craft beer but would rather not go to any of the uber-trendy, hipster bars in Newcastle then the Bridge Hotel is just for you! Nice and old-fashioned decor inside like a proper "old man's pub" just adds to it's charm. Bar staff are really nice too.
a. s.
Good beer selection. Asked for vodka & soda, was given a flat vodka & coke. Changed it for a flat vodka and soda. Didn't offer a brand even though they had several to choose from. Won't be going back, poor customer experience.
B. A.
Nice Victorian pub, one of the Fitzgerald's group of hostelries. Probably suitable for the more mature drinker
g. w.
A great afternoon and evening with friends and a marvellous selection of beers to saviour will most certainly be back soon
P. P.
Old worldly charm abounds this historic pub with good beer and stunning views of the famous River Tyne and Tyne bridges.
A must visit for newcomers to the region who want to feel the Newcastle of a bygone era but not forgotten in this beautiful unrestored establishment.
J. B.
One of the bucket list pubs in Newcastle!
P. M.
Great old fashioned pub. About 7 or 8 real ales on with a cider or 2, a good mix of dark heavy to light sesson beers. All very well kept. Have live music in the room up stairs. Saw Swanhunt last night, good band worth looking up.
Z.
Warm, comfy, great ambience + well kept beer
R. C.
Great pub. Always lots of people enjoying themselves as they come and go in the Newcastle tradition. Good range of beer though starting to get a bit pricey.
A. L.
Excellent selection of drinks from local and import beers. Good food, informed, canny staff and chilled out craic from the patrons. If you like beer, you should definitely visit. It overlooks the Tyne Bridge and the Castle Keep; it doesn't get much more Newcastle upon Tyne, Geordie craic than this.
j. b.
Used to come here years ago but haven't been for ages. Great pub with good atmosphere and range of beers. Daz happy as they had Doombar! At the end of the high level bridge and next to the castle with great views of the city
M. A.
Very nice cosy spot in Newcastle where to enjoy a good pint. Great staff behind the bar, properly customer service oriented.
My first night I went for food but it was roo late, so they gave me local recommendations. The second night I sat in to enjoy my book and a really good guest ale.
M. K.
Great food, lovely place and good location
T. “. G.
Sunday lunch was very nice but with a couple of small niggles. Gravy a bit salty, ask for gravy in a boat. Not piping hot but still ate it all. Very reasonably priced at £8.50. Would go again.
C. W.
Friendly, relaxed pub with a great range of beers. A beautiful building with Art Nouveau featuers and wonderful views of the Tyne and the Norman castle. Seems to attract a great crowd; whenever I'm there I always bump into someone I know. It's also great for hobbiy groups; on different days you will find groups knitting, board gaming, reading their poems or roleplaying over a pint.
J. J. (.
Great beer, still full of charm and character. Lovely to be back
B. S.
I visited the Bridge again last night, nice place with excellent staff and a great choice of beers. Just nicely away from the city centre hub bub, and as someone else has reported, a bit of a Newcastle institution. Pay it a visit, you won't be disappointed.
K. S.
Lovely bar with beautiful, old-style posh interior. Enjoyed a cider on hand pull and time out on the terrace overlooking the bridge. This locale was also featured in an episode of Vera ("Prodigal Son").
B. S.
Hi this is an excellent traditional pub if you like real ale it's the place to go loads of atmosphere and really nice staff serving they also do some nice meal reasonably priced. Good place if you like your beer and and having in an original authentic pub not a plastic pretend pub like most are 9.5 out of 10 .. hope you like it too.
D. C. (.
Great old pub with good selection of beers

B. M.
Great pub fantastic Guinness. Very friendly.
D. P.
Nice pub with good selection of cask ales. Excellent location near keep and high level bridge. Large downstairs area with lots of seating. There is a room upstairs for functions and events.
S. A. S.
Used to one of my favourite pubs in Newcastle especially on a match day but have often had issues getting served in turn. Have experienced better service in pubs nearby and prefer to visit Split Chimp, Station East and The Central bar.
S. B.
Loved it. Great atmosphere and staff and a good selection of beers.
D. B.
Great service with a vast choice of draughts beers.
Love it.
M. T. B.

K. T.
Fabulous pub with lots of real ale choice we will be back
D. H.
Great pub reasonable prices friendly staff would recommend it
M. D.
One of Newcastle upon Tyne's best pubs. A Sir John Fitzgerald house. Ten handpumps dispense a wide range of ales at reasonable prices. Pub food is good and the seating area to the rear has great views across the Tyne. Outside seating area in remnants of Newcastle's mediaeval town wall and is a sun trap in summer.
F. D.
Great atmosphere and a lovely selection of beers.
D. K.
Excellent pub, great choice of real ale and the food was good also, will definitely be back next time I'm in Newcastle
M. C.
!Situated opposite Newcastle Castle; good value pub that does inexpensive, meals. Ordered 3 egg omelette which had cheese and mushroom filling. Served with French fries and a couple of pints of Guinness, what more could you want
D.
Good real ale pub with nice views over the Tyne
D. B.
Newcastle has plenty of options for a good night out but not enough of pubs like the Bridge . Good selection of beers and great interior. Always on my visit list!
D. M.
One of my favourite Newcastle pubs, great considerate staff, loads of real ale handpumps and even a loyalty scheme and an outside smoking area overlooking the Tyne bridges
D. F.
Nice big pub with a good selection of ales and other drinks.
I. Y.
Always friendly pub nice selection of well kept beer & reasonable priced, beer gardens OK nice view & the bar itself is clean & well kept, haven't eaten there myself but few people I know have & they all say Sunday dinners are the best one's in Newcastle

Great food, quick service, friendly staff and happy to amend any order to suit if possible. It's a nice quiet pub to relax and chat.
P. C.
Good selection of Ales, knowledgeable friendly staff, all reasonably priced in a great setting.
B. S.
Perfect spot for a refreshing pint and a bite to eat while out for a walk into town. Lovely old pub and a good choice of meals, Sunday lunch is fab 👌
V. M.
Hi,we had our wedding reception here 12 years ago. I think the place has gone downhill a bit since then. Always been a favourite of mine, but has not been the same since putting TV s in. A mistake in my opinion, attracts a different crowd
R. M.
Nice beer garden next to the high level bridge. Old style pub, nice atmosphere. Pleasant bar staff. Fairly good beer selection.
W. J.
Nice typical pub friendly good food n beer very good value for your money.
T. D.
Standing high on the banks of the River Tyne, adjacent to Newcastle Keep, High Level Bridge and former Law Courts. The pub serves excellent real ale and is a good meeting place with views from the sunny rear terrace area.
L. S.
Excellent bar just outside of the city walls, really friendly staff who appreciate the regular custom, food is top notch for the price and they have a brilliant selection of beers and lagers. Recommended.
j. h.

Nice pint of Guinness!!
D. B.
Best Sunday Lunch ever...... Lovely pub and excellent customer service. Sorry didn't have time to take a pic....
D. H.
Nice pub which myself and a group of friends visit at least 4 times a year. It is about central to where we all live. Little silly about vapes but accept their policy.
G. W.
Could selection of Real Ales, ambient surroundings where you can have conversations with no loud music taking over. Second floor you will find local bands performing without hindrance to the ground floor bar
D. M.
Nice pub and staff. Nice beer garden. Pubs clean.
J. C.
Typical traditional pub
S. P.
One of the best pubs in the toon. Full of character.
j.
Nice views from the bar. Cheap drinks for the quayside. Let down by shabby rundown interior, how rusty does a bathroom radiator have to get?
A. M.
Review for the pub: very pleasant, with a variety of seating options. The service and prices are decent. Have not tried the food.
G. W.
Lovely bar with old stained glass and wooden windows, lovely views of the high level bridge, nice selection of beers
p. s.
Nice little pub.outside seating area good food good choice of ales

Fitzgerald pub with the good ale and food you would expect. A fine example of a fine chain of pubs. If it's a good day the beer garden/terrace is not to be missed.

Every time I visit Newcastle (which is quite a lot) I always pay this place a visit for a gallon. The Anarchy Blonde Star is about the best you can get it and the loyalty card helps.
P. S.
Great pub with a nice friendly atmosphere. Great selection of drinks with reasonable prices.
P. H.
Another good boozer where you can stand or sit and have a good conversation without background noise, unless the toon are on telly. Great selection of real ale and spirits.
