Pop in for Sunday lunch the service was good the meal came quickly and the food for the most part was very good but the beef was too red for my liking and the broc had been cooked too long was a bit to soft for my liking but for the prices it was very good value

Been here a few times since moving locally and this is the nearest pub. Every time I have been in the staff are always very welcoming, polite and nice. The food, no matter what I've ordered, has always been delicious from the mussels, fish and chips and burgers. Special shoutout to the mussels, coming from a country in which I eat a lot of seafood, these are done just right. Probably one of the best pubs I've ever visited, truly deserving of the full 5 stars. Will be coming in often, that is for sure.

Called for lunch yesterday 12.00. Food great but it was so cold we left our coats & scarfs on. The ice cubes didn't melt, drink was so cold could not drink it. Staff were very friendly and gave great service.

Lovely local pub with a great atmosphere any day of the week😊 always enjoy seeing our favourite bar man alex who always serves with a smile and gives my dog VIP service. Such a nice place to go with friends, family and partners and a bonus with music on a weekend.

It was ok. Certainly that is not meant as a slur on the Jingling Gate Pub. As there is nothing wrong with it. Although not a Pub that people on their own could really enjoy themselves. Saying that though the prices are very good, for the Greene King IPA and the Rivet Catcher which was a guest ale. Both of which were very nice. Yep I would certainly recommend the Jingling Gate pub.

Child's vegan meal was poor as sausages were rock hard & inedible. When asked if all OK demonstrated the hard sausages by tapping on table. Staff apologised but had no more or other alternative so a little disappointing.

Have to say 1st time I've been and what a lovely warm reception. The young lady and the young fella are a credit to this pub made us feel very welcome ...now on to the food...the reason for being here...my mother in law and wife and myself were very pleasantly surprised as the meals were lovely and I don't mean that in a bad way as never seen any reviews for said place so you aim low sometimes to not be disappointed but we were certainly not ...puddings for wife and in-law were also 5 star. This has to be the the best meal out we've had in a very long time...hats off be back soon and thank you

Dropped a couple of one star reviews recently so trying to restore some balance to the universe. This is a great pub, food is really nice, decently priced and nicely balanced crowd of normal people. The staff are lush - friendly and helpful. Quick service but not so quick you get suspicious about a giant microwave in the kitchen.

We had a family gathering of around 30 people with buffet and we were well looked after. An area was cordoned off for us and a fabulous buffet served. The food was fantastic and there was more than enough. Staff were great. We were given boxes to take left over food away with us. I can highly recommend this pub and their staff.

Went in today on a Sunday at approx 1pm and it was only half full which I was surprised at so there were still plenty of tables to choose from. I got the lamb shank which just fell off the bone it was very nice with a lovely big soft yorkshire pudding, carrots, tender stem broccoli, cauliflower cheese, peas, roast potatoes and gravy. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Mam got the roast beef and she enjoyed it. I think they were about £10.79 each. Mam got a mini chocolate brownie with an americano, which was £5, she enjoyed the pudding but her coffee was only warm. The drinks came in at just under £11.00 which I thought was expensive for a pint of lager and black, bottle of Heineken 00 and bottle of diet coke. The dinners were a good size and even the mini pudding was adequate, overall it was nice and we will be back again.

Had a lovely Sunday Roast beef dinner with my family. Everything was piping hot. Service was spot on and Manager Paul was very helpful, making sure our needs were met and that everything was up to standard. Well worth a visit if you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful dining experience.

Took my Grand daughter whose 16 here for lunch today as she was starving, I ordered gammon egg and pineapple - hubby had the fish and chips and leah had the Brunch burger which was enormous with fries and onion rings and i can honestly say it was 100 % for hungry bellies - it was delicious and very well presented and the staff were all friendly and polite - it was a lovely relaxing lunch so thank you to the chef and the bar staff that is why you got 5 stars today well deserved

Visited the Jingling Gate last night for the first time since lockdown. My husband and I got chatting to a young girl (she greeted us at the door, helped us with track and trace and picked us a perfect spot) she then helped us when we couldn’t work the app and provided us table service. She was fantastic. I didn’t catch her name (young girl, short dark hair) but she was telling me her and another lady had come from a different pub to help them out for a wedding. The lady came over also and got chatting to us about the local area and really paid attention to us, making us feel so welcome and at ease. Being a bit older, we were worried about coming out and covid, but they went above and beyond, nothing was an issue! They were so friendly and a real credit to the company. We had some food and it was absolutely beautiful too. We will definitely return!

Don't bother with the I.P.A.'s or 'real' ales, they taste the same and are flat. Staff are usually friendly in my experience. Stick to the usual cooking lagers and you'll be fine. I haven't tried the food here in last 2 years so can't comment. Update - food here has really improved, decent enough pub grub now for a chain, nice pies and puds. I'll go again

Just been for Sunday meal, not really keen eating chicken off the bone, I got two meat but only got one slice of beef, no mash, not a big dinner so I was not full, shame after paying over £10 per meal, overall disappointed. A nice restaurant /pub based on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne. Serving a large and varied menu, this establishment offers something for everyone from tea or coffee breaks, to lunch times and evening meals. There is a lovely atmosphere here, and all staff seem to be helpful.. And attentive to your needs. Food orders are made at the bar after you've found your own table, however staff can take additional orders (desserts, additional drinks) once your main meal is over. Plenty free car parking on site

Food was not the best, had roast beef and meat was faty and very chewy, carrots and broccoli practicly raw and hard to get your teeth through stuffing ball was rock solid could not even cut it with a knife. Overall not very nice food. new menu was not very much different from old one. Nearly £11.00 for a main and over £5.00 for a sweet was in my opinion ott.

This old pub has been refitted since I last visited some years ago and now looks smart and modern. The menu is varied and the food we had on the day was promptly delivered by staff that seemed to be happy to help. A friendly atmosphere.

Called on the spur of the moment after driving to and from Huddersfield having attended a funeral, it being too late to start cooking. The beauty of the Jingling Gate is that you can do this, at less busy times, being reasonably sure a table will be available without booking. My wife had macaroni cheese and I had gammon, egg and chips. Pub food at a reasonable price served with a smile.

Visited with my grandchild and two daughters,after our meal outside we returned inside to finish our drinks as it had started to rain. My grandaughter was playing quietly near our table I was absolutely shocked an totally disgusted when the male manager barged over to our table and demanded that I sat my grandaughter down! He spoke in a terrible manner that not only surprise me but upset me also. We visit this pub for meals, events and nights out on a regular basis up until now for the past ten years. I questioned why he spoke to us in this manner and I was further verbally abused by this man he was very intimidating and rude I was told "THIS IS A FAMILY PUB NOT A CHILDRENS PUB"?????? So as for experience in this so called family pub it was a total disgrace i was literally shaking with shock when I was spoken to in that manner we will not be returning to the Jingling gate. The customer service on this visit was nothing short of abuse! Had I been a 6 foot man with his grandaughter I can't imagine this bully would have dared speak to me in such a manner. Kind Regards P. The jingling gate is country pub on the edge of town. Recently undergone a refurb. Good food, choice of ale, spirits and staff. Personally I find the burnt pallet decore fine but it bounces noise and there needs to be something added to stop the reverb.
