What an amazing find. Our first time in there and couldn't find fault. Staff were all very friendly and very quick and efficient. The food was absolutely perfectly cooked. We all loved our dishes. As you'll see from pics outside they also have plenty to keep kids entertained with football goals, a free crazy golf course and a playground. Literally not one thing I could find fault in this pub/restaurant. I can't recommend it enough. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, great selection to choose from the menu and very fairly priced. Food was quality, well cooked (I had the Hunters Chicken and it was incredible) and the desserts were just amazing (the rice pudding…omg!). We’re only here for a week but the Horse and Groom is a secret gem we’ll visit many times during our stay. Cannot praise it enough.

We were so excited for this as it was rated as one of the best Sunday Roasts on the island and wanted one while on holiday here. We booked for 14.30 for a Sunday Roast and was about 5 mins late to our booking due to getting lost on a walk - we had rung the restaurant and told them we were sorry and on our way for our roast booking but had got lost on the walk, which she said was fine. When we went to the bar at 14.40 to order our meals we were told there was no roast dinner left, and when I said we had stated we were coming for a Sunday roast when booking, we were told "well we would have had some but you were 10 minutes late for your table", which made me feel quite sad as we had been told it was fine on the phone and the roast was the only reason we had travelled to that end of the Island. Apart from this, we had a nice meal and food was tasty!!!

Spent lunch at the Horse and Groom today and was not disappointed. Good spacious pub with indoor and outdoor seating and excellent access all round. Good facilities for the kids with a big outdoor play area with climbing frames and crazy golf. Good choice of meals available, do bear in mind that if you're seating outside there is a reduced menu and some COVID restrictions are in still in place. Good choice of meals available, well presented, kids and veggies are well catered for.

Cosy, friendly place with reasonably priced pub food. Large menu, including more vegetarian options than other nearby pubs. Dog friendly as well. Nearby table made an error in their order (ordered meat chilli vs veg chilli) and they sorted it out very quickly and efficiently.

Be sure to book a table, especially on Sundays. If you arrive earlier, you might have to wait for a car space to free-up! We didn't have to wait for our table. Gentlemen serving us was super friendly and knew the menu well. If you're getting the roast, smaller option is definitely enough! Food was delicious, especially the stuffing. Everything came out quickly and we enjoyed it all. Cauliflower a little undercooked, but still good! Tables are cleaned and hand sanitizer dotted about the place. Good stuff !

Popped in for a quick lunch. A spacious pub with a light and airy feel. The menu was a fairly typical pub style offering with all the usual favourites. I had Fish and Chips and was happy enough with what arrived on the plate. Nothing extraordinary but nothing to complain about. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and service was very prompt. I'll be happy to return and try something else from the menu.

Whilst holidaying on the Isle of Wight, we choose this pub on the way home because of its high ratings. We were not disappointed. We both had the curry, albeit my better half the vegetarian option and I had the chicken curry. The portions are large and both curry's were very very nice and tasteful. We also shared a mushroom and garlic soup. It was just delicious and very fairly priced. For a nice pub dinner, I recommend it.

Very big portions and full of flavour, we had the hunters chicken and steak, the mushrooms were extra but VERY tasty and highly recomended !

Possibly the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. The portion of mussy peas was ample. The chips were soft, fluffy and creamy in the middle but crisp on the outside. The whole meal was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and efficient. Pity I don’t live on the Isle of Wight as this would be my regular haunt. I very rarely write reviews but this place definitely deserves the praise!

Popped in on the off chance they had a table available. Luckily for us they managed to squeeze us in as they were fully booked for the evening. Used a table with a booking later in the evening. Food was amazing, proper traditional pub grub, massive portions and good value. Would not hesitate to recommend the Horse and Groom.

Ate breakfast and dinner here whilst staying locally. Breakfast is currently only served Friday to Sunday and dogs are welcome at all times. The food is great, service friendly and prices fair. The portion sizes can be big or small depending on your preference which is something we haven’t seen before, but really enjoyed. Highly recommend this place if you’re staying nearby.

Use Google maps this will take you direct. Sister pub to the Griffin pub in Godshill, which is also very nice. Heard they both do a good Sunday roast.

Large pub with garden on the A3054 between Yarmouth and Shalfleet. All set up for Covid safety. Surprisingly busy at lunchtime, we hadn't booked but they managed to get us a table. Ordered a Suet Pudding and Liver and Bacon which were excellent. Suspect someone had over ordered peas as never had so many served with a meal (came in a side dish). Foster's £4.20 a pint which is about the going rate.

Lovely food and people. We popped in to see what it was like having driven past it numerous times on other holiday (usually with a dog). Really good menu, food and very friendly. My mom never finishes a meal, cleared her plate! She also never has dessert but cleared that plate too. Will be definitely be back especially as I now know it is dog friendly 🥰

Lovely pub with great food. The prices are good and the portions are amazing! There is a great area outside for kids to play with a park, a bouncy castle which is free to use and a little mini golf course which is also free. There is also another area outside reserved as a quiet area and is under this massive gorgeous willow tree and is lovely to sit and have a drink under. Service was brilliant and food came quick which was great for our hungry children! We have been here on multiple occasions and it's been amazing every time. The photos show an adult Cajun chicken burger and a child's hamburger.

Conveniently located close to our camping site this was a great haven in bad weather. Friendly staff happy to squeeze us in between booking times which some venues won't do. Good quality pub fayre with some excellent local produce. The seafood is here but so too is the suet pudding and ham and eggs etc. Portion sizes are big so no shame in going small here. Decor is a bit basic but that's fine if you've been camping, got kids with you, got you outdoor gear on etc. Decent selection of beer and wines. Service is also pretty quick even when busy.

One of our adult group had kids bangers and mash which a big burley builder would have struggled to finish. Very very reasonably priced. Left a big tip for waiting staff as service was 10/10. Fabulous food. Went on a Sunday for the carvery. So good we returned a few nights later. Can definitely recommend the Hunters chicken. Plenty of food and great atmosphere. We will be back .

We booked a table for 12.30pm and arrived promptly. They were very busy and seemed to be short of staff - we had to wait more than 5 minutes before we were shown to our table. We quickly chose our food order but unfortunately, after waiting for 20 minutes for our order to be taken, we had to ask for our order to be taken by the waiting staff. They were apologetic and said they were busy. The food, when we got it was very good (as it has been on previous visits) - the sandwiches were generously filled and lovely fresh bread. The chips were delicious too. The food was great but it was very clear that they were under-staffed today.

Starters were tasty & well presented, mains again well presented cod was nicely complemented with capers lemon etc, Tagine was gently spiced vegetarian option & the Turkey dinner had a modern approach to its presentation with proper carved Turkey, yummy stuffing & tasty gravy etc. The sweets were all delicious again very nicely presented & appear to be freshly made. All this for a great price, served by very nice servers.

Super pub just outside Newbridge. When we got there the place was really full, but still allowed to eat if we didn't mind doing so out in the Garden area. Being a warm night we were happy to do so, and really glad we did. The food was superb and plentiful, so much so my wife couldn't finish hers, I had to help of course, really because it was just too good to waste. We will definitely return and highly recommend the pub. The ales were fantastic too, as was the staff even though it was so busy. Definite 5*.

Serviced by boss man Steve !!! Very nice, happy and helpful... Food was excellent ,with a few changes I made it was spot on... staff very friendly and helpful. It was very clean,(including the toilets at 2.30pm) it was busy but very organised .. And plenty of gel when you walk in, near the toilets... The visit was for my daughters 13th birthday and she enjoyed her meal.... as we all did. Would be going back again. This pub restaurant does get full so booking a tablet would be best. It's worth a visit.

Friendly, helpful staff who were flexible and accommodating in allowing us to eat at a table that was reserved for later on, whereas all of the other restaurants we approached just flatly refused us entry. Very much appreciated! Tasty food at reasonable prices, good selection of items on the standard menu and specials board. Good pub grub, pleasant ambience and a variety of activities for children outside. Covid precautions in place. Easy to find and sufficient parking for diners. Very convenient if you're staying at Camp Wight or other campsites nearby!

I’ve enjoyed meals here on quite a few occasions and have always been well looked after by the staff. Top class pub food, with a little extra panache. Friendly and easy to visit even by bus, large car park and garden. My favourite is the steak and ale pie which is home made and excellent, great pastry too!

Lovely food but we arrived at quite a busy time and the poor staff were rushed off their feet. Wouldv8been 4 stars but I had to ask twice when our food would come and we were not made aware of the delay till after 40 minutes of waiting. Ok. Ate outside in the garden area. Lots of space and good playground and a little crazy golf to to keep the kids occupied. But, limited menu for the outside tables, generally unhealthy options and served in single use cardboard boxes (such a waste). Kids food options: nuggets and chips, sausage and chips, burger and chips, fish finger and chips. The food we ordered was nice and the portions decent. Little bit disappointing.

Spacious, friendly pub. Food is of a good quality and they offer varying sizes of the main dishes, so if you're not too hungry the smaller portion is ample. It's family friendly, with a kids menu. Service is fairly quick, again good for kids. Pricing is reasonable. Would happily go back again.

Brilliant atmosphere, still being precautious yet feeling welcoming and cosy. We had a Sunday roast here and my goodness, I wish it was Sunday everyday. The food was delicious and hot. With veg everywhere and enough Roast beef to feed 2 on each person's plate. The children's play area was great and exactly what the children (2 and 4) needed to have a little run around whilst we ordered our food. Only 'problem' was we only got about 5 minutes of playing in, because the food was ready so quick! But the kids did go back out when they'd finished. Great staff as well. Friendly and polite. As an add on, we came to this pub because we had stumbled across its sister pub in Godshill earlier in the week and were so impressed by that one we decided to try this one out. I highly recommend that pub too (The Griffin, Godshill). If we come back to the area, we will be back, 100%.

Friendly, efficient service from smiling, helpful staff. I had a really tasty chilli con carne over a jkt potato, with cheese, sour cream and some nachos. Excellent value at £10! The food arrived quickly and was a generous portion. The premises were clean and tidy. Loo's were clean and tidy too. I had an excellent dining experience. My wife, who is a coeliac, had lots of food choices too. Overall, we were very happy we stopped at The Horse and Groom, and would recommend it.

The staff are not phased by odd requests and are extremely helpful and friendly, I would suggest booking a table as it can be quite busy. Great for kids as there is a playground attached outside.

It was late afternoon, there were plenty of staff serving great food. We arrived from a coastal walk and cycle ride around Newtown Creek. Although there's no fixed cycle racks, there's plenty of places around the spacious car park to lock them securely. The food choices are wide and portions generous, our sirloin steak sandwich came with a fresh tasty salad and was more a meal than a snack.. Delicious. Great beers and a wide choice of quality mixers too.

The staff are so friendly and the food is amazing and came so fast. We ordered the trio of fish salad and the chilli with rice. The taste was fantastic, and the atmosphere was so happy. I love this place and will continue returning when I visit the island again. You can't keep me away lol. They are also very dog friendly and have no problems with your well behaved, happy dog being with you, inside at the table. I would give them 12 out of 10 for customer service. Don't miss a visit here when you visit the Isle of Wight. They also have a play ground out back and a crazy golf course, so plenty to keep the kids happy too. Just a brilliant down to earth place to eat or drink at.

Would highly recommend the food, my husband and I had baguettes with chips. They had delicious fillings and were served with fresh tasty salad. The chips were great, homemade skin on. They were very welcoming with our son who is 1 and half. Unfortunately it was raining so we couldn't use the outside facilities but they looked good for kids. Would definitely return.

One of my favourite island pubs. the main bar area has a great traditional atmosphere, with an open fire on those cold winter days. For the kids there is a free bouncy castle and small crazy golf. The play area though, is in need of upgrading and not great for toddler's.

Struggled to find anywhere doing a Sunday roast atall. This place answered after calling 5 times, had one slot left (phoned on a Saturday evening. Reviews seemed good. Seemed really friendly on the phone. We arrived for our 13:15 booking. Met by a wonderful team. All very happy and pleasant. Roast was beef and pork. Very generous portions of meat. Yorkshires and potatoes were crisp and light. Gravy just topped it off. Meat was cooked very well. Especially the beef! Really pleased we ended up here!!!!

Visited on Tuesday afternoon with my partner and her mother and our dog.The food is excellent and and presented and cooked with a high standard , compliments to the chef and all the staff are so friendly. It's great to be able to take dogs in, such a lovely atmosphere and very cosy. Outside the back area is huge and has plenty of activities for kids. Just wish this pub was were we live in Kent. Love this place Popped in for a drink over the weekend. The beer 'Islander' and the staff were so nice we came back for dinner and weren't disappointed. Two kids meals and two adults - delicious. Kids (5 yr old twins) had the jumbo fish finger. We had the lasagne, and also the ham egg chips. Both adults had the 'small appetite ' option and were still filled 😀 the side salad and dressing was a v pleasant surprise. We arrived late (well late for us) 7 o'clock and there were a couple of tables to choose from, but otherwise full. Would happily come back. I hope your experience is as good as ours.
