Shared a meal with two friends at The Stag and stayed for the themed Quiz. Good night, enjoyable food, prices reasonable. Only just got the menus and the waitress was a little too eager asking us for our choices. Accommodated tweaks to the meals but when swapping out an item with my dessert I got charged for the replacement item, would have been nice if they'd told me that was going to happen.

The food was fantastic. Had the Coronation Chicken on baguette. Such a nice place for a fresh and filling meal. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Husband had a burger with beef, bacon and a chicken breast. He said it was amazing. I'd come back to Isle of Wight just to eat here again. :-)

went for Sunday lunch and wow it was amazing. I started with the cabin fries the were delicious, my partner went for the garlic mushrooms great flavours and textures. The main event lamb roast great lots of sliced lamb, mash and roast potatoes, carrots, cabbage and peas homemade Yorkshire pudding, delicious hot and all cooked perfect. (the photos of the roast dinner taken after I started eating sorry). I skipped dessert but my partner had the baileys cheesecake and he loved it. last but not least the service was excellent throughout, friendly and genuinely cared about you.

To be fair the staff were nice and happy but I can't say the same for the rooms, especially for the £380 for 2 nights they wanted. A refund was given when I expressed my views to the manager as we couldn't stay in the room allocated to us.It was advertised as having newly decorated rooms but I begged to differ. The stairs upto the rooms are narrow and the tread depth is small. Its a shame really as the downstairs pub and restaurant looked lovely. My advice would be to definitely replace the bed pillows. This place for an overnight stay would not be suitable for someone with mobility issues.

Food was good limited menu and yes I agree the only thing that does get on my wick is the over eager staff. Almost as though they want you in and out as quick a possible. Once order was made and the coke glass cooled down after a speedy trip from the bar to the table they eventually left us alone . However what ever you do don’t make it obvious that you have finished even if you have not because yes your right it’s like a swarm of locus’s heading for your table. All in all a good meal … Worth a visit if nothing else !!

Had a fab lunch at the Stag today. Staff are very friendly and it feels very safe. Lovely to sit in the marquee at proper table and chairs. Definitely recommend the Club Sandwich and Cajun Fries, they are delicious!

We found the food at The Stag was fantastic. The menu suited a wide ranging age group, with varied tastes. We usually like to try out different places when we are on holiday, but The Stag was such a hit with the whole family, we had to go back. The whole pub was extremely clean - even the toilets smelt pleasant! The staff were welcoming and friendly.

The pub was located near to where I needed to be. The rooms with neat and tidy and quite spacious, and the bathroom was well laid out and clean and tidy. The breakfast was very good although I did not eat any other meals there,. The starter were always friendly and willing to help no matter what the question

Had a great time at a quiz here recently. The management team / landlords are very friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The food is lacking in finesse but there are a lot of pub classics on offer and they have a specials board. There is a good amount of parking at the pub and varied accommodation to sit in.

A nice pub to call into and have a meal. The menu is what you would expect, being a pub. The at staff are very friendly, having said that, they do leave you alone to enjoy your meal. They don't keep coming up to you asking if everything is okay, which l like. The meal it self was fine, freshly cooked and nicely presented. The pub is clean and fresh. Overall we will definitely be going back.

Nice enough pub and rooms. Our double room had a king size bed, plenty of space and a nice bathroom with fab shower. We weren't without challenges, the heating didn't initially work and the first night in the pub they hadn't had their food delivery and it was a comedy of errors. But the friendly evening bar lady Julie and breakfast cook Laura more than made up for it. They were honest, fun, hard working and couldn't do enough for us. All problems resolved. They catered for my gluten free needs with their fab breakfast. Some of the dinner offerings could be improved, but was good basic stuff. If Julie and Laura work there, I'd happily stay again!

So we had an excellent meal, full of flavour. Only 4 star as the time delay (45 minutes) from booking time was too long and heard different excuses from the staff for the delay.

Can't say enough good things about the new team and owner stu, you're made to feel extremely welcome from the moment you enter which is something the previous owners certainly lacked, resorting to many locals simply not attending However stu's come in with an amazing attitude and has turned all that around. Not only has stu turned the bad customer service on its head but the food also! Simply put.. great food, great people and once again a great Lil pub. Don't let the reviews of the previous owners shy you away the turnaround the new teams made is exceptional and you will not be disappointed!

I enjoyed a wonderful 3 night stay together with a good friend. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and the location was perfect for our vacation on Isle of Wight. The included breakfast consisted of both cerials, toast and eggs plus juice, milk and coffee or tea. We also enjoyed the Sunday roast (very recommendable) and the afternoon in the pub together with the locals, which really promoted the traditional English pub tradition. I would happily stay here again, and I would recommend couples or singles to stay here. If you plan a vacation to Isle of Wight this is the place to stay!

A very nice pub set off the main Cowes - Newport road. Great food and friendly staff always make for a pleasant dining experience. We often visit for breakfast, after a walk alongside the River Medina. The breakfast pancakes are highly recommended.
