Absolutely loved my meal I had the Waguy beef burger from the specials board. Went there with my wife and kids, they have a kids eat free policy which means 1 paying adult gets 1 free kids meal from their set kids menu. Didn't book a table before going but was lucky enough to get seated for 5, we did get told that it would be about a 30 min wait for food once ordered which I didn't think was to bad anyways. The food did in fact take around 30 minutes from being ordered, and it was absolutely fine and worth the wait. All my kids enjoyed their food and the meals were made to a high quality and tasted incredibly. The place has a nice and cosy atmosphere and it's family run, and everyone got involved to ensure we had a good experience. Would definitely recommend for a great and affordable meal out.

Popped in for a quick pint with my eldest and sat in the rear beer garden. Had a Doom bar and a JD. Nice location off the main rd. Previously had a great meal and a lovely bar area inside. 🍺👍😊

Lovely place. Really delicious, well sourced food. Had the wild mushroom risotto today and it was scrumptious. Everytime we come its always a good meal, friendly, reasonable and kids eat free with an adult meal. Also dog friendly so for us, all round ticking all our boxes.

Good pub type food served there. They were very welcoming and friendly; and also very accommodating in our food requests, as we adapted our menu choices slightly. The thing they excel in here though are the desserts. These are restaurant quality desserts and worth every penny in my opinion. Lavasa Coffees (including ones such as latte and cappachino) are also available here. They have made the decor look lovely in the section we sat in. It had a purple, white and silver theme with a slightly modern twist to it, which is unusual for a pub; but it was a very welcome change from the usual tired old grotty looks of other pub interiors I've seen elsewhere! I do hope they will consider to decorate at least the other end section in a similar way in the near future. Will definitely be back here before our holiday ends!

The White Lion is a very smartly decorated public house, the decor very tasteful. The staff were especially friendly and helpful. The food served was great, I visited on a "curry night" which I really enjoyed. You received a warm empty plate and you went to a table containing two massive tureens containing three different curries and boiled rice. You filled your plate and you can go back as many times as you like for £12.95. There was a normal menu available in case something different was required. The toilets were really clean and well maintained. All in all a really good experience.

Every year apart from over Covid lockdown, my 90 year old mum and aunt along with myself and friend have eaten in this fabulous restaurant every day of our holiday. My mum has gallstones and is a diabetic so her diet is very much controlled. All the staff could not do more to cater for her needs they went above and beyond Gary the Chief....well what can I say, all the food is cooked by him and melts in your mouth. Gary also went above and beyond to alter the menu to accommodate mum. We love you Gary and thank you so much for looking after mum and us so very well. I've been here before and the food was fantastic, however today I am the DJ and I am genuinely amazed. The pub usually cover 80 something at a time but today they are catering for a wedding of 200 and they seem to be doing it seemlessly. Everyone seems happy and the food looks as great as when I last ate here. Well done White Lion.

Went for lunch with the family and wasn't disappointed. We had scones and jam...big bowl of mussels with crusty bread and butter...and pate with toast and onion relish. Scones were warm and freshly cooked. Portion sizes were fantastic. Drinks were reasonably priced aswell. Very friendly accomodating staff . Nothing too much trouble. As an islander...would definitely return.

Great food and friendly staff! Husband had steak and ale pie and I had Gammon. Daughter Chicken nuggets and chips. The chips are wow! Were happy to slightly adjust my meal, nothing asked was a problem there today. Very accommodating. Food was delicious, apparently the best steak and ale pie my Husbands had! Well presented food. The chef (I believe) came from the kitchen and asked how our food was. He made my daughter giggle. Lovely guy.

Staff were polite and friendly, but the food lacked imagination. It was an impromptu visit and filled a hole in our bellies, but it was just ok. The best of the meals was my wife's homemade pie with fresh vegetables which was full of steak and a good size portion. I must say the food was better last time I visited, but that was 19 years ago, and the menu hasn't moved on much from back then. I know it's been a tough couple of years with covid, but it's time to step up or get left behind.

Visited the White Lion earlier today and they have an excellent value lunch menu available until 5pm. Two courses £11.95 or three £13.95 with a choice of three or four items for each course. The food was good quality with ample portions, didn't have any space for dessert.

What a find!!! Visited there last night before sailing back to the mainland. Super friendly staff and landlord and landlady (turns out she went to same school in London as my wife). Good was top notch - genuine Manzies pie mash and liquor - had to be done. Will definitely be back next time I am on the island. Highly recommended!

Fantastic food. We wanted Sunday roast but in the evening so they kept 3 back for us. They were delicious everything cooked perfectly. The desserts were to die for. Fantastic, would have given 5 stars but there was a bit of a wait, understandably, everyone is struggling after lockdown with staff shortages. The staff worked incredibly hard and were very friendly and polite. Food was excellent and all 8 of us enjoyed our meals.

This wonderful Inn is a must to visit for food. Portion sizes are plentiful, with the option on some dishes to have a lighter bite. We visited fairly late on a Tuesday evening during the "eat out, to help out" scheme and were a bit worried that we wouldn't get a table. However the staff were fantastic at accomodating us and we were seated in front of an impressive fireplace. The food was glorious, I had Lasagne and quite honestly it was the best I had ever tasted, beautifully presented and fresh crisp salad. Prices were very fair and quality superb. The staff were so friendly and although they were getting ready to close for the evening, took time to stand and chat with us. ( socially distanced of course!) The Inn was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated, younger children will possibly love the changing colour lamp. We will definitely return to this place on our next visit. Thank you so much.

What a fantastic pub, a good choice of beers on tap and a good selection of food to suit all. Coming from London I love pie, mash and liquor and was over the moon to see it sold here. Supplied by Manzes in Tower Bridge Road it was very nice. Staff and service were excellent and I can't wait for my next trip to the island do that I can visit this lovely pub again.

Stopped here after very long cycle and Dairymans Daughter was full, and so glad we did. Had very nice ceasar salad, yes you can get this wrong and it was a good as i've had. My companion had a very good meal also and the draft Doombar is a bonus. Prices were reasonable pub level and service was good.

Decided to pop in for some lunch during our holiday. 2 adults and 4 kids. Was not disappointed in the slightest. Lovely greeting by the staff and we were seated straight away. Lovely menu on offer which also caters for coeliacs and vegans. The food arrived in good time and was simply delicious. Good portion sizes too. Food isn’t overpriced. It was an absolute pleasure to visit this place and we would definitely return.

We were very pleased with our visit this evening, the staff were really friendly and came over with some treats for our little pugs! There was good choice on the menu and the specials were really great. I went for the Green Thai Curry which was on the specials board. It was clearly homemade and had been slow cooked because the chicken was so soft and tasty! All our meals were really good portion sizes. The restaurant was light, airy and comfortable. Very welcoming. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back when we next visit the Isle of Wight!

Awesome service from the moment we walked through the door and food is outstanding. All staff are very friendly. We visited after a long day out starving and I am so pleased we chose here with 3 kids in tow including a 3 year old who just wanted pasta 🤣 the guy serving us was so good with the children and he stopped to chat they loved it and they made it so easy. Ate there for the first time with two friends on Thursday using a Price is Wight voucher which was excellent value for money. Very good meals, well cooked and plenty of it. Service was good too. My one negative point however was that it was really cold, some heating would be a great addition!

Food was very good, however... portions were below average for the high price. Waited service is a plus, but I feel this old pub isn't quite sure what it's trying to be. A classic pub grub place or a restaurant. Another note is that the staff were very friendly, verging on invasive. Some people will love this I'm sure, personally I don't. I think I'd like to see the White Lion focus more on its portion sizes. Chips cost next to nothing, putting 6 or 7 chips in a cup might look nice, but it's not worth the price they're offering. Expected in whetherspoons, sure, but they're hunters chicken for example is about £6. Yours was £14.

For a table of six, the food took an hour to come out, my food was cold, and it looked like the gammon had been grilled, left under the lights while everyone else's was being cooked, forgotten about for a bit longer, and then out back on the grill to make sure it's as dry as possible. The eggs were solid, there were sod all chips. Wasn't good really. On that experience I would give it one star, but if you're wanting to sit somewhere and have a drink it's a quite nice place to be...

Wow, what a transformation! I have not been to the White Lion in Arreton for a number of years, and I was not overly impressed back then. The new owners of the White Lion have created an absolutely lovely environment to dine in. The pub feels very friendly and the staff confirmed this is their friendly personable manner. We went in for a meal on New Years day, and it was very busy with a large party dining in the main room. There was a slightly longer wait to be served than I would usually expect, I assume for this reason, but this was a very minor issue. The food was fantastic and presented very nicely. Price-wise it was on a par with similar pub/dining inns on the Isle of Wight. We will definitely go to the White Lion again, and would recommend it to friends.

every year we come into the white lion for a meal on several occasions while were on the island ,and find the food very good, but this year the food was very poor and not worth the money. my husband and my dad both had the fish they were appalled by the quality of it, it was nearly £10.the fish looked as if it had come out of a box from Iceland the batter was hard an over cooked we did complain and all we was told was[ ok ill pass it on.] it was very disappointing. just hope they go back to the quality that they used to have. we spent the rest of our holiday eating at the dairymans daughter where the food quality is next to none superb. jacqui
