Reviews of Royal Oak
Z. B.
Lovely attentive staff, Paula, Sam and Eden the chef, fed our party of 6 on Thursday - Steak night (but not limited to steak, other menu still available). Great value for money. Dog friendly and allergy aware. Customer service could not be better.
P. F.
We had my Grandads wake here. What can I say they did an amazing job. Nothing was too much trouble and they went above and beyond. Paula was amazing and made the whole process as stress free as possible. Was an absolute pleasure dealing with her. Thanks to everyone at the Royal oak. Good parking at the front and round the back and kids climbing frame with swing and lots of grass for the little ones to run around out the back.

We have just had a really enjoyable time at The Royal Oak pub there was lovely music and great cider and Beer.
Also they kept my phone safe this morning when I stupidly left it on one of their tables.
I thoughly recommend having a drink here I haven't eaten here but I'm sure it'll be lovely.

One of the best pubs I've been to in a long time. Paula and her team are the most welcoming and friendly people. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is lovely especially when paula made a lasagne and gave me one to take home. Homemade fish pie delicious! Only A short walk from the canal, a pub not to be missed. Dog friendly too. I moored up intending to stay a couple of days but ended up staying a week. I highly recommend the royal oak and i will definitely be going back. Paula is a credit to the pub.

On a canal trip and called in to this pub late Sunday afternoon. What a find, music, food , and great people. Staff and customers made us so welcome. Wish it was our local.

We enjoyed a lovely steak dinner tonight. Very friendly staff, good food, cosy pub with roaring fire and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely go again

Stopped off one lunchtime. Proper pub, good beer, good food at a reasonable price, relaxing atmosphere and we were made to feel very welcome. What more can you ask for.

Sitting on the canal at Blisworth ,this is a traditional village pub .Highly recommend the Sunday roast. With live music at the weekend it's well worth a visit.

Great GVFM food, lovely staff, good bunch of locals creating old fashioned friendly atmosphere! Well worth a visit!

This is a nice little pub with a large (mostly deserted) beer garden.
Sitting inside is quite snug and lively in a nice way.

The royal Oak is a very happy friendly pub and many thanks to Samantha for the help she gave us and my disabled wife to get into the pub well done Samantha 👍👍👍😁

Genuine pub. Excellent publican. Good pub food. Friendly locals.

Good beer, friendly bar lady and friendly locals.
Still a great local with friendly staff and always a local wanting to chat. The staff and the locals make The Royal Oak a welcoming haven. I live on a narrow boat and pass through Blisworth every couple of years, or so and look forward to a visit to The Royal Oak, thank you all for making my infrequent visits a pleasure. 😀

I like to think this pub has been the Same for Three hundred years.
Generations of people local to the area using the Oak and always interested in a conversation with travelers

Fantastic staff, really helpful and friendly, great food and fast service, lovely customers and dog friendly❤️

Had a great lunch, food was very good and the pub was lovely and comfortable inside. A good selection of beers and wine.

New owners absolutely lovely. This pub was the highlight of our week on the canal. Full of atmosphere and really friendly local characters. As it was only their first week of doing food the menu was limited but the lasagne was the best I've had for years. They love dogs too which was a bonus. Can't wait to return next time we are in the area to see how they have developed the menu and catch up with the local charters.

I came here on my own - they never made me feel I was 'robbing' them profit as most of the pubs wants groups of people rather than someone on their own.
The most welcoming people, drinks served, literally, not a minute delay. Best pub, my favourite. I will be bringing my friends over here! Amazing!

1st time customer who dropped in to meet my daughter who has recently moved locally to Blisworth. Really friendly attentive staff Great outdoor space, Landlady very customer focused and chatted to all. Can't wait to return in the summer...

I booked a 40th Birthday Party for my daughter last Saturday 12thSept, it was held in the “Barn” at the back of the pub. I was really pleased with the whole outcome I paid extra for them to decorate the barn and it turned out absolutely Beautiful, It was like a fairy tale.
Paul n Jan only took over the pub 3 weeks ago and the done a superb job, there is a bar In the Barn and toilets plus a lovely wooden floor.
This makes it covid secure plenty of sanitizer was available.
Paul and Jan were so friendly and welcoming went out of their way to help.
They are starting the Carvery this Sunday 20th shall definitely be there for that.. It’s an ideal venue for Birthday party’s,Funerals, small wedding Parties
I wish them every success for the future.

Cute pub with a live fire and sweet staff. Food is typical bar food, but you can tell that it’s made with love

Recently under new management. Seem to be nice people, catered a wake for a member of the extended family at short notice very capably. Well kept beers, big garden and dog friendly.
Covid aware with table service, even in the garden. Yesterday(Sunday afternoon) the service was good despite being busy and short staffed.👍
G. W.
Good food and beer at sensible prices.

This is a lovely village pub with lovely people running it. The food was simple but very nice. Great atmosphere and unlike some pubs the locals were welcoming and seemed happy to have you there. Recommended.

We recently held a wake in Acorn Barn. We are so glad we decided to go to The Royal Oak after looking at different options. On what was a very emotional and difficult day for family, the whole afternoon was made totally stress free for us. The barn was the perfect choice for a private function and came complete with its own bar. Everything had been organised really well to ensure the afternoon went smoothly for us, the food choice was perfect and plentiful, with teas and coffee available on arrival. Thank you Paula for being so welcoming and ensuring everything went to plan for us, also a thank you to 'our' personal barman for the afternoon. Would definitely recommend The Royal Oak and Acorn Barn for any private event or function whatever the occasion.
C. B.
Lovely pub in a lovely village
H.
The people was very friendly definitely like your usual local which is a good thing because you feel at home immediately. I was in the function room in the back which was well lit and had enough space for everyone to be comfortable. The only thing that let down the royal oak is that the flooring needs deep clean because when alcohol spills and drys constantly it starts to let off a stench and is undesirable.

I happen to find myself in Blisworth on a trip to collect an item and stopped in on this pub to have a rest and a bite to eat. The landlord was most welcoming and I had a very nice meal, that was both filling and great value. A little corner of lost England which is a welcome find.

Sunday lunch was excellent with a selection of very fresh vegetables, parsnips, carrots and cabbage and a choice of lamb chicken, pork, or beef, with roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Great value for money and in old Northamptonshire stone surroundings in the pretty village of Blisworth.
