It has been 40 years since we last visited the Red Lion, it has changed considerably, from a village local to a village restaurant and pub.
It is bright and inviting but has lost a little of the cosiness.
We were there for a family meal and, whilst the family ordering was a nightmare (the family not the ordering) Jess was fabulous, nothing was too much trouble and she smiled throughout.
All of the staff were fab, the food was not bad, my medium steak was overdone and my mother's hunters chicken did look a little dry but they got the food out together and it was hot and well presented.
We had a fab time, thank you

Came here on a Tuesday evening for a change to the Mon-Fri grind and to have a lovely meal out. Such a great evening. We both had pies and they were huge and really tasty. Super friendly service. So nice to get out midweek. My partner had a crumble and custard, which he wolfed down and really enjoyed. Great prices - deal on the pies was 2 for around £14.
Will definitely return!

Visited on a Monday night, and the place was nicely busy. Food was brilliant, very good sized portions and incredibly tasty. Wide variety of beer and really nice atmosphere. Staff were attentive, as well as being friendly. Lilli was great, proper service with a smile. Definitely recommend and we will be back!

We did a sponsored walk from Norwich along Marriots Way. Had booked lunch at The Red Lion. Our table was ready when we arrived. Fantastic food. I had a vegan pie and it was one of the best pies 🥧 I have eaten. The other food choices were lovely. And to have 2 classics for a cheaper price is good especially in today's current financial climate. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Had a party of 17 tonight, had a little wait for food but not to bad, food and Dessert was great and worth the price. Excellent staff and service. 100% will be back.

Just had lunch there today with my family (5of us) havnt been for years as moved away from the area.
The food was delicious, freshly cooked and service was excellant.
A lovely pub serving great food with first class service.
Cant wait to return.

Just visited the red lion and what a result it was. Two meals for 14.99. The Katsu Curry with chips and rice was amazing, grear portion size too. My son had a massive piece of fish in the deal too. 👍
My wife had a a few sides which were all cooked perfectly. Kayleigh who served us was bubbley and was very helpful and informative when servicing us. We felt so sorry we couldn't give her more for a tip as she totally deserved it. We haven't had lot of good servers in the past but she was brilliant throughout.
Def coming back. Thank you all

Spent a enjoyable evening with friends ( five adults )
Food and service was great as usual, Jess looked after us with a smile very polite and attentive through the evening,

Amazing!! One of the nicest roasts ive ever had. Staff very lovely, nice atmosphere - will be visiting again very soon.

Popped in for a quick drink and mid-afternoon snack. Very quiet which was pleasant, loads of seating and staff seemed ok. Cheap carvery option (which we didn't opt for because it was so quiet). Ordered a sharing platter which came out quickly and was generally nice, onion rings quite stodgy and imo the dish was too expensive for what you received (about £12). Will probably give this place another go for an evening meal.
J. L.
Had steak and omg it was fantastic. Beautifully cooked, lovely chips and a really good peppercorn sauce. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. If you are a wheelchair user there is a slight step down into pub and the carvery is up some stairs so not accessible but staff happy to assist with getting food if required. Will definitely come again.
B. J. G.
Had a good meal for 4 of us, £20/head fir 2 courses, staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.
Only comment was that the fish (fish & chips) was slightly over cooked.
Wouldn't stop us returning, very nice.

Phenomenal 10/10
Food,Service and the whole atmosphere best meal out I've ad this year!
A must visit
S. H.
Popped into the Red Lion today for lunch with an old friend. Very enjoyable experience, waitress was very friendly and enthusiastic. Both went for the lunch club deal, great food at a great price.
J. S.
I'm starting to become a regular here, as I've eaten here many times and to this day, not had a bad meal. However, I seem to be stuck in a Lamb shank or Chicken Katsui cycle at the moment.
Desserts are also quite nice.

Updated for Oct 2021. Great to see things getting back to normal. Carvery is restricted to Wednesday and Sunday but the two for pub classics are back along with deal nights. The Katsu Curry is absolutely amazing and enjoyed by all the family bar one who is not a fan of the heat. Order at the table however the bar is still available (for bar area) and app if required.
J. N.
A great meal out with the family. Good menu.
Lilli our waitress really helped with my wife's dietary requirements
j. g.
We always enjoy going here to eat. Food very good with vegetarian options. The gin and tonic was excellent!
S. G.
Great service, lovely food. Special shout out to Brooke and Jess H for looking after us!! Will be back again soon
J. S.
Great place with lots of character. Friendly staff and really good food. Plus 20% discount for Blue Light card.
J. M.
Loved it..First Pub Ive visited since arriving in the UK during Pandemic and also first time to experience a Pub Quiz.. Friendly and Happy Place..
d. b.
Nice food, no carvery due to having a revamp. Good service.
G. S.
Still THE BEST ROAST IN NORWICH 😍 lovely selection of meats, everything is so fresh! Able to get a table really quickly after walking in on a busy sunday. Lovely atmosphere for all ages and group sizes
C. A.
Came here yesterday for a roast and was most impressed. Lovely food and great service. Our waitress (I can’t remember her name but the pregnant lady) was absolutely delightful and went above and beyond for us. She definitely made it a very pleasant experience and is a very valuable member of your team. We shall definitely visit again.
J. W.
Lovely local pub. Wide range of food and drinks all efficiently served by some outstanding young staff. Plenty of seating both inside and out. Shame the carvery has gone, but the Sunday roasts remain, served.
Great food, good drinks all in a cosy feel place. Easily recommended.
S. c.
Went for the carvery today with my partner and mother in law. They had the carvery and I decided to opt for something off the main menu ended up having 3 courses and it was lovely the salmon was a little overcooked but overall it was delicious and the service was impeccable they couldn't do enough for us. Was very reasonably priced, may be a little more pricey than other carvery's but the food was much better quality. Will definitely be visiting again. The atmosphere was also great. Thank you for fantastic experience keep up the good work
T. T. B.
Vegan, vegatarian, lacto free, gluten free menu here. The pictures show a £9.00 meal
E. T.
Lovely food today friendly service from all your staff would definitely come again ,miss your carvery though x
J. I.
Really tasty carvery, with plenty of festive options for the time of the year! Also there was a great atmosphere in the pub. My only complaint was how tightly the tables are packed together due to how small the back room is. But the food more than made up for this👍
L. P.
Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, was not too busy. Lovely food and great service. Will be back.
M. B.
Enjoyable Saturday lunch in lovely spacious pub with friendly staff👍
J. E.
Beautiful place with great food and atmosphere. The staff were wonderful and the prices were reasonable.
D. P.
Really nice meal and friendly staff great service
J. F.
Went for a meal on a Saturday evening with 2 friends, when we arrived it did not look too busy, we were took to our table and the menu came and we were asked what drinks we required, then we were asked what starters we would like, then what mains, one of our party could not get what he wanted,we then had to wait nearly 20 mins for 4 starters, only prawn cocktails, still did not seem to busy. They were ok, nothing special, bread very hard also butter hard to spread, but after we had finished the mains came out very quickly and were very nice, we did not have desserts but did have coffee's. The prices were not too bad, but it was just the long wait for the starters that could put us off coming again, perhaps needed more staff.
E. J.
A lovely pub to visit! Great food and the staff catered amazingly for our seven month old to help heat his food. Food and drink were really well priced. We shall definitely visit again.
A. D.
We showed up on the spur of the moment and the owner very kindly managed to seat our group of 7.
The staff and owner were very friendly and efficient and really looked after us during our visit. The food was spot on and couldn't fault for the price! Our children also got generous size portions for the price. We will defiantly be returning!
S. O.
Food isn’t always great but service is always nice
L. H.
I was serve today by Crystal, she was so professional and lovely , her standard where above 100%
She made sure we were happy with our food drinks etc . She went above and beyond to make us feel happy, her passion was astonishing. It lovely to go to a place and feel so at ease and welcomed
This is the first time I have been to the red lion and what a wonderful experience I had . .
K. W.
Was amazing!!! Loved the food, shoutout to kaylee and Mr Italian amazing service I loved it
K. B.
Typical Green King pub descent food, rubbish selection on beer no local selection on.
When asked what craft, draft and what's on cask the bar maids had no idea.
G. W.
Nice friendly place, easy to relax in. Enjoyed our time there and the food.
P. B.
I hadn't been for quite a long time, and was thrilled. The food was really tasty - all three courses for two of us. The staff were friendly and attentive, despite being very busy. Ten out of ten. We'll be back soon!
Oh, and we had the senior citizens' smaller portions/lower cost, which suited us beautifully, as we can't manage lots of food. Great value therefore.
V. C.
Been here a couple of times now and never had any issue . Great food , nice attentive staff who are friendly, food is really quick to be done and nice big parking area so never struggled to park. Thankyou
G. B.
Had a carvery bap with roast potatoes only £4.99. Great value and as a lite bite a nice change from jacket potatoes. Will definately go again.
E. V.
I had a lovely meal with 3 friends on Friday night though it was busy it was still a great evening, we were served by Henry and Lilli and they were very accommodating and attentive, even recommended the billionaire bar for dessert which was so nice! I will visit again soon!
A. M.
Delicious Sunday lunch with good service. Huge choice of menu items but some items weren't available unfortunately. It felt like some of the staff weren't as well trained but they were honest with us.
Really lovely interior which felt like a traditional pub with a modern touch. Plenty of parking outside. Overall I'd recommend a visit!
A. e.
Four of us came for Lunch yesterday. Honestly say the best roast lunch . Thankyou.
J. L.
Great evening. You have to download the Greene King app, so might be worth doing this before you go. Ordering is straight forward. Great selection of beers and shorts. Some if our party ordered food which they said was very nice. Staff very pleasant as well. Service was excellent.
S. L.
We came to the Red Lion for the first time for my mums birthday, and absolutely loved it! The food was amazing (especially my vegan katsu curry!) And our server Krystal was absolutely fabulous - a huge credit to the place! Nothing was too much trouble, she was brilliant with our little boy and even made him a special dessert when it was discovered they had no brownies! We will definitely be coming back again!
A. M.
Great steak, ample parking and lovely staff what more can I say
M. B.
Thank you Brooke for making my kids brownie a square with two separate pieces lol :D
r. l.
Lovely family pub and very cosy. staff were awesome so helpful and friendly really make you feel welcome. Food was OK its pub grub you get want you pay for would definitely go back 😊
B. T.
Nice cozy pub & restaurant. The prices are not too expensive and the food is top class. Good value for money with nice staff.
j. f.
Amazing service x wonderful staff . Lilli was so attentive polite with a massive smile face x
K. B.
Went for lunch and drinks, the staff were all very friendly, the drinks were well priced and they had a large selection to choose from. There is a good choice on the menu, I had chicken pie which was really nice.
T. B.
Amazing food and great service, food is amazing like a proper home cooked meal!
K. P.
thank you to all the staff at the red lion Drayton for my very pleasant experience I had the sirloin steak and added some yummy extras what made it the garlic and mushroom sauce and some lovely flat mushrooms and coleslaw everything was cooked to perfection thanks chef for cooking my steak the way I asked for it the meal was hot and very yummy
And as many we always find room for dessert so I had the caramel waffle it is normally with banana but I made an adjustment with having strawberries which was so nice and I felt so grateful of the adaptions which were made all the staff were amazing I left feeling very full satisfied and very grateful thank you guys you deserve ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
J. B.
Would love to rate 5 star as the food is really good and I especially love the Carvery, however really disappointed that the carvery is only on until 7pm!!!
The amount of times I can only make it just after 7 or around 8 is insane.
Please change this.
Thanks
M.
Went for a carvery recently. Not that nice tbh. The guy Cutting the meat has mastered the skill of paper thin cutting, I got one tiny piece of Turkey and Beef that you could see through as it was cut so thin. To add insult to it once he cut my beef he skewed the whole piece that was left and brought out a fresh one. Not sure if he was taking that home for his dog, would have been nice to have a good slice of meat. Veg was OK but also nothing like the Red Lion used to serve a few years ago. Won't be returning again.
J. B.
Lovely meals, excellent service
H. B.
Food was ok, but the experience was soured by the atmosphere of 3 young men drunkenly chatting loudly & 'flirting' with a waitress at the pay station which was near our table.
As it was only 6pm it was off putting & a little disrespectful to other diners including ourselves.
C. D.
We had a lovely meal and the staff were very pleasant
N. C.
Local pub grub..it's ok..landlady is an absolute misery guts and frankly it's unlikely that I'll ever return because of her.
I don't like being made to feel like I'm an inconvenience and that staff are doing me a favour by serving me..
C. A.
A very quiet bank holiday visit. Service was swift & polite. The food was good but my Salmon main course was slightly overcooked.
A.
I gave a 1 star review previously as the food was disappointing but my most recent visit was infinitely better! Good food!!
J. L.
Was very nice to go somewhere where the food, atmosphere and staff were great.
Was able to take my assistance dog in to, and staff (Carl) made her feel welcome to, even giving her her own pint... Of water that is.
The steak was beautifully cooked as ordered and the sweet potato fries were fantastic.
Will definitely go back there again and look forward to trying the rest of the menu.
There is also a carvery available there, however for those with mobility issues, there are steps inside the building which can be a slight issue, but we managed fine.
Thanks for a great visit.
S. B.
Needed a stop for food. Went to another pub and was turned away. Too late for food even though we were 45 mins b4 kitchen closing. Red Lion a different story. Welcomed in and food delivered quickly. Beer choice oddly limited for a Green King pub. Thanks
M. W.
Top quality food and service always best in the area
a. t.
Nice meal very friendly good atmosphere definitely recommended a try if in the area
S. C.
Loved it, great food and atmosphere
A. L.
Lovely meal this evening at this ‘open for business again” family friendly pub. The two metre social distancing did not detract from the relaxing atmosphere, great food and friendly staff and it was a great first choice for somewhere to eat out after weeks of lockdown. Will certainly be going back for more.
D. K.
Stopped in on the spur of the moment for Sunday roast. Friendly efficient staff, lovely ambience and the roast was amazing. Delicious food. Highly recommended.
P. R.
Unfortunately for them, very quiet after many cancellations, meals were excellent, good value for money felt safe being in there, already booked for Xmas day lunch.
R. K.
Due to covid, we were outside. Meals were of good standard and tasty. Drinks were served asap through the evening. Just a table of girls were a little over the top with their foul language, glad i didnt have children with me, or I'd have complained. But unfortunately these days it seems acceptable.
Y. P.
We called in today for a snack. Can't fault the food at all. Quick service, well cooked chicken and fish, tasty.
D. O.
Lovely pub. Food was tasty and service was good just a shame what we initially wanted wasn't available.
S. S.
Randomly went to this place while we stayed nearby for the weekend. Truly delicious food, reasonably priced and good costumer service. Well done guys ✌🏽
D. M.
Good service by nice staff, and nice rustic feel to the place. When I went I had the carvery and was a bit disappointed. The Yorkshire puddings where obviously not homemade and the cauliflower cheese wasn't very nice. However meat and vegetables were nice. Would go there again but to try the menu, not for the carvery.
D. T.
3rd visit here still great food and service here will be going back again when in that area
J. B.
Went for the Sunday carvery at £9.79. it's £6.95 any other time. Choice of 3 meats , sausages , pudding , roast potatoes and usual veg and thick gravy. Was very good and hot. The pub seems to be well run and very busy. Good selection of beers. Will be back for more roasts 👍
A. C.
Long wait for food, frys overcooked. The rest tasted good, staff friendly place clean.
A. N.
Enjoyed a really lovely meal today with my in-laws at the Red Lion, staff were very efficient and friendly.
Everywhere was very clean and they acknowledged all new guidelines.I noticed a staff member regularly go to check or clean the toilets after guests used them. Great to have this pub open again.
J. N.
Went on Sunday evening and enjoyed the Carvery, choice of 3 meats and good range of veggies. Good to have crispy roast potatoes, obviously fresh not frozen carrots, lovely spicy ratatouille, creamed leeks, red cabbage too.
J. W.
Becoming our usual haunt for food and a pint. All good here !
T. C.
Nice fair priced meal no complaints
L. C.
Lovely staff and food was excellent good menu plenty of choices
E. D.
A lovely pub with a lot on draught. Offers lovely food and table service. Very friendly staff. Visited on a Saturday for lunch with a friend. We sat outside and enjoyed a beer in the sun. We then enjoyed our food outside too which arrived quickly with not a long wait. The pub itself inside and out has a lovely atmosphere. Lots of space in and out and a car park too.
h. w.
Great value. Great staff ideal location
L. G.
As always service excellent, food arrived very promptly. Food excellent steak cooked perfect to medium rare, fish and chips excellent.
S. M.
First time visit, on walking into the bar; I was amazed at the wonderful lay out of the tables. Plenty of room to move round all of the tables; and when we were welcomed at the bar by the staff who were very helpful we asked if their was a table free and they took us to our table which was the far end of the pub but it was a beautiful walk through the pub. Looking forward to the next visit the Red lion is a beautiful place to wine and dine and to relax. Well done to the red lion and to all it staff.
a. h.
The room was too hot, the toast was placed on a refrigerated plate which wasn't very nice and the steak was very chewy and had not been rested. However, my colleagues enjoyed the carvery and the desserts were lovely!
I'll go again but probably not for the festive menu...
S. R.
Meet up once a month here with friends I used to work with. Always a lovely carvery and although I'm a vegetarian so don't have meat there is always a varied selection of veg plus roast and new potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. There are also vegetarian alternatives and also supply vegetarian gravy. Never had a bad meal! (And the dessert menu has a nice variety of puds - although I always have chocolate fudge cake and ice cream which is scrumptious)
A.
Competitively priced and a filling Carvey, althougha bit sparse on meat. I could however eat the Salt and pepper squid for days. Pleasant environment and friendly atmosphere.
F. M.
New menu was a little reserved...had Katsu curry with chicken...it was far better than i had ever expected ...Will definitely be back...to have again...staff were lovely...a well run great family pub...love it xxx
S. E.
This is a great pub. Great food, (carvery is amazing), loads of beers on and usually some sport on the telly too. Ideal.
S. T.
Decent local pub, but not clicky. Good selection of lagers and ales, and great gin, whiskey and vodka, selection too. Lovely staff and great food. And no, you can't go wrong with the carvery. A good mix of punters, equally good for families, couples and beer with the boys!
A. M.
The carvery is always excellent and good value, and as a result there can sometimes be a wait for a table, but don't let that put you off. I almost don't want to say how good it is as I don't want to compete for a table 😅 Friendly staff ready to help with anything you need adds to the excellence.
j. c.
Food was really good, recommend going there to eat and for a drink
J. H.
Had a Carvery, meat was lovely, vegetables not so good, new potatoes very dry and hard to swallow, carrots not peeled properly , you can get food poisoning from carrots if they are not washed or peeled properly. My partner had apple pie for dessert, which was an exceedingly small portion.
On a positive note atmosphere was lovely.
Y. D.
Had Christmas eve dinner with the whole family...about 20 of us which was awesome and terrifying the same time! The food was average (that didn't have a very good veggie option for my daughter and mydelf). My rd didn't eat any of it has 3 potatoes and she is not a fuddy eater. The atmosphere was great but the waitress was clearly struggling with how busy it was (it seemed someone has not turned up to help her) but she did take it out on us a little, like she really didn't want to be there. Last year was so much better but I hope we pick another place next year!
B. G.
Had lovely carvery at weekend. Paid deposit for boxing day lunch, looking forward to it and it'll be well deserved after we've worked xmas day. Will visit several more times before then
J. V.
Think it was showing the strain of a busy Easter. Restaurant was filled to bursting point, took ages to get order taken and didn't get drinks until after we'd finished food despite asking couple of times.
Will try to go back again at a less busy period in hope this was a one off as carvery was still nice.
M. B.
Visited the red lion for a birthday meal on a Saturday evening. There were 6 of us including two young children. Firstly I ordered a chicken and mushroom pie for mains but after 5 minutes the waitress returned to say they had run out. I changed my order to an alternative pie and accepted these things happen. Next the waitress returned and informed us the two adults having curry would not be able to have rice with their dish as they had run out. The same for the small child in the group who was going to have rice with her meal. Alternatives were chosen and we continued. When the food was served it was ok although the food served to the 3 year old was brought out on a plate so hot the waitress had put another plate underneath it so she could hold it. We decided to transfer the food to the cold plate from underneath to avoid burning the child.
The general attitude of the staff was unprofessional. We had to ask for our bill twice with two members of staff (When we could find them) and after raising the money to pay the bill and waiting another 10 minutes with no one collecting the money from us we proceeded to the bar and asked to pay there (Where the two waitresses were stood talking).
The reason despite all this I still give this restaurant a 3 star rating is that the food was ok and represented good value with two pub favourite adult meals for just £11.99. I guess service is like anything else... You get what you pay for.
G. K.
Very enjoyable and you can now book to shame there's no carvery but still a good selection on the menu
J. B.
went for Sunday carvery, decent food bit pricey, beer is more expensive than I usually pay,but good, can be busy,so best to book, good clean place n staff are terrific
M.
Fantastic pub. Great staff, great beer, and a fantastic carvery on a Sunday. Would highly recommend.
T. E.
The Roast dinner is second to none, I love this place. Get's very packed on a Sunday, but this is expected. Myself and many people I know, who have visited The Red Lion have all met the extremely rude lady manager! Which tarnishes a truly lovely little place.
M. F.
Really good food and service. Despite being a large chain, it doesn't have the feeling of one.
N. W.
This wasn't my first visit to Red Lion in Drayton, but it has been a while since the last time.
Pleased to say the food was brilliant and they are still offering excellent service even under the difficult conditions we still find ourselves in.
A great local and thoroughly recommended.
D. S.
Very popular for Sunday lunch. First time I've tried their carvery and wasn't disappointed. Roast beef was very tasty and good selection of vegetables.
s. b.
Probably one of the best meals I've had in ages. There's a good looking carvery on but I chose BBQ beef rib with salad, ilo chips. My god the meat literally fell off the bone. The salad was beautifully presented and well dressed, a reasonable 11.95, meant it's not overpriced. Can honestly give this place five stars, service is wonderful, I feel at home here! Thanks for a wonderful experience. P.S free Wi-Fi. A lovely touch when 3/4g is a little hit and miss around here.
L. D.
Only the second time I've been here and both times absolutely superb. Food is impeccable, service very good and staff very friendly and welcoming. Can't fault it. Seems I may have found a new favourite eating place
i. m.
Great food, friendly atmosphere highly recommended
C. H.
Service great lovely welcome from young lad who found us a table for two....food not so good unfortunately...cold hard frozen veg... hard crust on pie ...more crust than pie...dessert not great either ..shame
.
Nice clean pub
J. S.
Great Sunday Roast and service.
J. W.
All round amazing. Good food, good drinks, good service. Will be back :)
S. P.
A few ups and downs. Lovely building, nice beers and great carvery. Also a fun pub quiz on Mondays. The standard menu is a bit generic, busy and "spoonsy" though (screams microwaved pre-prepared). Think a smaller selection of homemade food would be far better and would suit the building (E.g. like the Eaton pub with same name!).
I. O.
Red lion is the best family friendly restaurant in Norwich. The best place to have a carvery. Their gravy is on point. Food is tasty. Staff friendly still being professional. No negative feelings whatsoever😀
N. W.
Good food. Service OK
l. h.
Service very good.made welcome.
D. B.
Average carvery, very dry and meat portions were also very small, drink prices are also very high at £2.50 for a glass of coke. The pub quiz was good though, not ridiculously hard and interesting content.
d. c.
Cosy club, friendly staff and yummy food
E. C.
Lovely carvery and great service. Visited with 2 young children, one in a pram, we had plenty of room and all had a lovely afternoon. Good amount of parking also :)
K. G.
Nice pub serving a fantastic Sunday lunch carvery. Quality food at a great price. Nice friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Highly recommended.
I. E.
Nice morning welcome and attentive staff. Best crispy chips ever on the all day brunch.
T. L.
Delicious food and lovely place
M. B.
Nice warm friendly village pub but with a great carvery restaurant. I had a carvery sandwich with roast potatoes and gravy washed down with a pint of well poured wherry for under £9. Well worth a visit.
R. C.
Was a lovely meal couldn't faulty it. The Carvery was the best I've had for a long time well worth a visit. Was very busy and a little bit disorganised at the start
D. B.
Nice place and food was okay but short staffed service was slow, their was 4 in our party 3 meals came out together the fourth meal burger and fries turned up 5 minutes later minus the fries and was told they were on there way they never turned up poor show never experienced that before. The meal was taken off the bill but that's not the point.
L. G.
Really lovely Sunday roast!
A. H.
The food is excellent, not the usual "pub grub", Excellent value for money. Staff friendly and helpful. My only problem is that it was not very disabled friendly the last time I went there.
I would love to go again, but think it might be a bit of an obstacle course with my walking aid.
S. W.
Great food and drink. Staff very friendly
K. B.
Really good, affordable Sunday Carvery! However as soon as our plates were clear, they took them straight away and rushed us out for the next people to sit down because it was so busy and not enough seating
J. W.
The food was excellent, I had the Sunday carvery which was beef, that was delicious. Every thing I had was done the way I have it at home. Will definitely be going again.
r. b.
Took the old dears here. They loved it
S. C.
Booked table for family of four for our daughters birthday , No problem, meal was superb and great value and went away very happy and going to book again for wife's birthday meal soon,
Came back as we said with two in-laws and again went away very happy, staff so helpful and friendly and don't rush things unlike other places we have been to , certainly our favourite place to eat even though a little bit out of our way but well worth it looking forward to going back again soon
D. B.
Good carvery! If you build a retaining wall with potatoes using cheesy leeks as mortar you can get loads and loads on your plate. Wish I’d got a photo
R. A.
This meal was southern fried chicken sandwich with salad +sweet potato chips. Nice pub /restaurant with a good selection of drinks to choose from +plenty of food options aswell. Polite staff.
J. W.
Lovely meal (carvery ).very tasty and good portions . The best gravy in the world according to my son . If the Stuffing balls had meat in them it would be 5 star.
R. K.
Absolutely amazing food had a laugh with the staff so kind and helpful really recommend one of the best meals I have ever had😊❤️
J. O.

Always a pleasure to go to the Red Lion, food very good, great prices and exceptional staff, would highly recommend a visit
L. O.
RED LION was very nice, great food & friendly staff, will def go again when eating out
T. U.
2 carvery meals and a drink each for 2 of us, 27 quid. Food was great, sat outside as the weather was nice. Lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
J. R.
Excellent atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, lovely cosy pub. Superb carvery. Overall would definitely recommend, had a lovely afternoon.
E. C.
We always enjoy a meal at the Red Lion, whether it's an evening meal or a business lunch. The lunchtime meal deal is great value and quality. Normally a good choice of real ales as well!
K. T.
Went on steak night great food steak cooked perfectly (medium rare)
M. H.
Great service, ordering from the app is simple and intuitive. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Never dissatisfied when coming here!
A. R.
Went for dinner today and it was delicious. They do an awesome pint as well. Highly recommend!!!
A. T.
Lovely tasty Sunday roast. The best I've had in a pub! Meat melted in your mouth and veg was cooked just right and very nice gravy too.
T. H.
Party of four,Two carverys ,1 spagettie bog, 1 steak chips and side salad ordered.
2 carverys themselves were not very good, carvery area could do with a bit of an overhaul, also had flies flying around the food area.
1 spagettie bog with a salad ,not a lot to say about this
1 steak chips and side salad ordered, the steak was ordered medium to well done, and arrived well done to charcoaled ,the chips were hard, the onion rings overcooked and empty, the salad was not that good.
all in all a very poor dining experience, and we shall not return, i think this public house has a good local following and therefore things have been left to slide
K. S.
Tasty, spacious, cheap :) cyclists and dogs are welcomed.
S. G.
We had a lovely meal. Hot and well cooked. Nice atmosphere and friendly waitress. We felt the love. Will definitely be back.
D. B.
Very nice local pub. My only criticism is that when I ordered a Hendrix and tonic the cucumber was sourced from the house salad. This included a fork of well aged onion. The Nachos were Devine 👌🏻
J. F.
Had great food the starters was nice and had a carvery also good prices are good and the stuff are realy nice and always smiling the girl we had serve us today was ever so lovely.
M. H.
Good pub food for the price. Friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend.
C. W.
Looks like a really nice place to have a meal. I only had a pint so can't rate the food but I'm sure it is of a good standard
J. W.
Great food, lovely atmosphere and interior. Can get very busy so may have to wait a while for service but all in all a lovely place to go and eat or drink
N.
Made a quick stop here for a bit of lunch. It has a lovely, cosy atmosphere and rustic decor. Typical chain pub but the food and service were really good.
F. H.
Great menu with Veggie/Vegan options
Selection of cask ales
What's not to like?!!!
j. w.
Can't fault it, good food and drink and the servers were super friendly and good at what they do. Will be back on the weekends if possible
M. N.
Great food and great service !
Highly recommended, friendly helpful staff 👍
h. t.
Empty and no atmosphere lost all character , but ok just for a quick pint under bright lights , a little sterile for a pub of its age x years ago it had a great feel
and was packed every night of the week .
R. H.
Great pub and food 👌
A. T.
Very pleased all very good sta all very nice
S. S.
The Red Lion is a lovely pub based on the main road through Drayton. It provides a nice ranges of Beers, Wines & Ales. (I believe it also offers CAMRA discount).
They have a couple of nice Veggie options and i'm told the carvery is lovely and good value for money. But we will have to take my carnivorous in-laws word for it.
Although the restaurant is of a fair size they fill up quickly so booking is definitely advised.
They also boast a large carpark and beer garden which is located right next to the village park.
T. M.
Fantastic food, brilliant prices and excellent staff. Highly recommend and will return.
T. H.
Meal excellent but very surprised that in this day and age they don't do Decaffeinated Coffee - some people are unable to tolerate caffeine - it's not always a choice.
J. D.
Good pub, friendly staff, great big garden. Would recommend.
A. S.
Friendly staff, generally clean and tidy, its a large place but unfortunately the food was basic in its presentation and taste, an item from the menu was not available and a meal was forgotten from our order.
G. S.
Not as good as earlier visits.
Yorkshire puddings were flat & soft & stuffing balls dry & undercooked.
I. C.
Although the Google description says this is a waterside pub serving pizza, that is the description for the red lion in Norwich on Bishop Bridge. Red lion in Drayton has a modern feel, although it is an old pub, with large outside grassy space, large car park. Wide range of drinks and food menu.
n. t.
Tables to close to each other and the chairs look like someone had p****d on them, there were four of us one had the carvery yorkshire pudding not home made roast potato's went to mush, three of us had mix grill meat was tough and we never all had the same as each other, was love by one of the staff, four soft drinks £9.25 ( a little high ) also saw on one table that had pie and mash ,the mash was packet mash ,dont go out for meals to often but wont be going back to this red lion 23/02/2019
R. B.
Can not fault this place in any way .great carvery lunch served with a great smile from all the staff no booking required went in and was meet by nice young lady who took us to our table and drinks ordered straight away .Have been before so must be good .Well done Red Lion

S. G.
Good excellent, including a Saturday lunch deal 2 meals for £11-99, and we were one vegetarian and one gluten free.
D. W.
Doing well to provide their usual standard of food with restrictions as they are. Great Sunday lunch.
w.
Staff were Great, very polite. Unfortunately the veg appeared to be frozen, not fresh and the beef was almost crunchy.
t. m.
Not really my type of dining...bit like the days of soup in a basket....but the waitress was very accommodating when i enquired about Vegan food which impressed me
There was 1 option which isnt good and its brought in not homemade on premises...but the staff were helpful
S. W.
Yet again good food.Happy, friendly and polite staff.
S.
